Digital Good Omens 2 Sountrack is coming out in 4 days! 🥳 CD version in October! :) ❤ Coming soon on vinyl…
Tumblr media
Out to Stream/Download from 25th August. Out on CD 13th October. Coming soon on vinyl…
David Arnold’s ‘end of the world’ complex and multi-genre soundtrack.
From the Award-winning composer of Sherlock and Casino Royale comes a follow up to the hugely successful, Emmy nominated Good Omens soundtrack.
Good Omens series 2 premiered on Prime Video on 28th July. The series follows the odd couple, angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) in their quest to sabotage the end of the World. The six-episode sequel to the popular adaptation of the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, concerns the Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) arriving without his memories to Aziraphale’s bookshop. Aziraphale and Crowley attempt to find out what happened to Gabriel, whilst hiding him from Heaven and Hell, both eager to find him.
The Soundtrack
David Arnold’s soundtrack to Good Omens was first released in 2019 to favourable reviews, with BBC Music Magazine calling it “a rollicking trip to hell and back”. Blueprint Magazine described it as “a great listen” and Sci Fi Bulletin commented on “plenty of memorable themes” to conclude that “This is another work of art from Arnold”. At times nostalgic and eerie but always varied, beautiful and full of excitement, the Good Omens 2 soundtrack showcases Arnold’s every skill from his composer arsenal. Featured here are orchestral arrangements with sprinkling of Sugar Plum Fairy pizzicato and percussion, jaunty strings and mighty choral sweeps from Crouch End Festival Chorus. Added to the mix are rock guitar riffs, and psychedelic 70s sounds and all together they create a haunting otherworldly feel, complementing the fantasy and the quirky humour of the show. The spirited Waltz of the opening theme is also present in the second series and it wonderfully sets the scene for fantastical mayhem. In series 2, this robust, evocative, and funny music entity, becomes yet again another character in the story. Award-winning composer David Arnold is well known for his blockbuster scores, including Stargate, The Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Hot Fuzz, Paul, Independence Day, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Casino Royale as well as for his TV work such as Sherlock and Dracula. Also available: The original soundtrack to the first series of Good Omens >

An idea I had about the Bat fam and what kind of music they would listen to
Alfred: prefers silence but on nights where he needs something in the background, surprisingly, Alfred is a fan of country music, preferint older artists but he is favorable to some newer stuff as long as it isn't stadium country.
Bruce: Old punk and metal, like the kind he heard at a punk bar he got in with shitty ids, in the late 80s high on acid with Harvey, this man thinks Nirvana was great but thought they didn't go hard enough.
Dick: as a child? Show tunes, if Disney put it out this man was humming it while kicking goons asses, later on in life? Dick has blossomed into musicals, but like, the kind your not thinking of, Dick belts out songs from Cats all the way to "Veronica open the please! Veronica open the door!" While banging on Tim bedroom door.
Barbara: Is a major fan of Lo-Fi, loves it since it is music but the lyrics don't distract her from doing her work, will play it in the library when it's slow
Jason: he grew up on the streets and that doesn't get a lot of options to listen to music...except in stores where they play the days top 100, he gets Vietnam flash back during Christmas time and he hears Mariah Carey, after his death and resurrection, he found rap and fell in love, loves all the lyricism and word play, has played Not Like Us on repeat for the last week even after the beef was done.
Cass: hard core death metal...and classical music. She does ballet dances to both. Nuf said.
Tim: as a child he was the kid who ripped fanaf songs off YouTube and played them as his ring tone, he still has those songs in rotation but has added folk punk and really obscure bands he finds with like 3 listeners...also is a fan of yacht core music...
Steph: Taylor Swift Girly, shares Dicks love of showtunes, huge BTS stan (while dating Tim she repeatedly "left" Tim for Jimin when ever they argued...Tim still has beef with him to this day)
Duke: Oldies, I can see him going through his parents old vinyls and tapes after they got jokerized to feel close to them and now he learnt all of Elvis's discography.
Damian; Anime songs. Cried the first time his listend to Blue Bird, listens to J-rock when he is painting, and even though he will try and hide it, he has a secret love for Bollywood music as well, probably was introduced to it while doing an early assassination with the League and kept with it as he left.
(Plus a few that I could think of)
Kate: she strictly listens to Alpha male work out music Playlists, heavy on the dubstep, can and will bench press your body weight to show you that no Chad SHE is the alpha here. (As well as Girl and red and Rio Romeo)
Bernard: listens to fan made game songs, meme songs (has all of the polish cow dance song memorized) chronically online taste, also has worked in kitchens so has a deep knowledge of rap and rock.
Roy: Dad music, loves a good jam sesh rocking out to KISS but because of Lian he now is immune to Baby shark being used as torture.
Jon: is a literal child. He is 12 and thinks that skibidi toliet is the best thing that has graced this world, he will tell Lex Luthor that he has Ohio Rizz, then do the griddy in the air and fly away.

ryan ross iceberg (tier 2)
tier 1, tier 3, tier 4, tier 5, tier 6, tier 7, tier 8
the tip of the iceberg:
the young veins:
this is the band that ryan and jon started after they split from panic! it included a few other members, and often times ryan’s good friends z berg and alex greenwald (of phantom planet), who will be mentioned more later on. they only released one album in 2010, called take a vacation! they played some live shows, but at the end of that same year, they went on an indefinite hiatus. HOWEVER, they made an official instagram account and have been active this year!! it’s likely that it's because there will be vinyl repress (further supported by a comment jon left on their only post) but it’s super cool nonetheless [i].
this is a personal aside, but i honestly like this band more than anything panic! released post split, with the exception of new perspective and the calendar. like god this was such a good fucking band.
dottie, elwood, and hobo:
these were all ryan’s dogs.
hobo was the dog he got in 2006. however, when he and keltie (we will discuss her soon) broke up, she took her with her [ii].
Tumblr media
dottie was a dog he got circa 2015.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
elwood is the dog he got in 2017.
Tumblr media
i’m not sure if ryan still has dottie and elwood since he has pretty much disappeared from the internet.
eta: i misspelled elwood's name as elmwood in the iceberg image. sorry about that!
z berg:
this is one of ryan’s exes and his bestie. they dated around 2009/2010. they still hang out today and he’s made appearances at these events she does called proms. she gives us the majority of ryan content that we’ve gotten in the past few years.
he featured on one of her songs, “the bad list,” and she featured of the young veins cover of “nothing matters but you.” she will come up more in other entries as well, which is why i'm not going super in depth here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
throam:
whew.
this is a ryden fic – probably the most iconic after the milk fic – called the heart rate of a mouse, written by anna green. it was originally posted on livejournal, and it’s LONG, coming in at 3 volumes and over 500k words.
the plot summary is that in the 1970s, ryan is the lead singer/guitarist of a famous band called the followers, and brendon is a roadie on their tour. brendon is openly gay, and ryan and brendon start hooking up, even though ryan is “straight.” from there, the series becomes 3 volumes of angst and pining. of course, there’s so much more that happens, but i won’t say too much for the sake of spoilers.
despite it being a ryden fic, it’s incredibly well written (if you’re able to get past the explicit smut), so i do recommend reading it at least once in your life. i’m gonna keep it 100, i’ve read this series at least 10 times with a yearly reread and have physical copies of it.
anna also wrote some ficlets to go along with it, such as one from brendon’s pov and just some extra stuff that didn’t end up in the final cut. she also wrote a lot of other iconic fics (all of which i also recommend), like the black rose season, how a resurrection really feels, posing in a ballroom, miguel sanchez’s grand slam of love, amongst many, many others. sadly, she purged her entire livejournal account, so you would have to turn to internet archives to read anything other than throam [iii].
unfortunately, this fic also reached the icon status that the milk fic did so multiple people from the bandom sphere know about it and have acknowledged it. for example, keltie, ryan’s ex-girlfriend, has read it and mentioned it on twitter multiple times (embarrassing for her but whatever) [iv]. jon tweeted about it once [v]. also, i swear that vicky t from cobra starship mentioned it (i wanna say it was on instagram, but i could be wrong); however, i can’t find the comment she made anymore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
link to throam for those who are curious
jac and keltie:
these are two of ryan’s exes from the panic! days.
jac vanek was a scene queen in the early 2000s, and they dated from november 2005 until feburary 2006 [vi]. it was a pretty cringey teenage relationship that was overly (grossly) chronicled on livejournal, and if you’re interested to read more, there will be a link in a later tier.
an interesting tidbit is that while ryan was dating jac, brendon was dating another scene queen named audrey kitching, which will also come up later in this iceberg.
Tumblr media
keltie knight (née colleen) and ryan started their relationship in august 2006 after meeting at the vmas, where panic! was performing and keltie was a backup dancer (she was a rockette). he was 19 and she was 24, which may not seem like a big deal, but it definitely played into some power dynamics in their relationship. for example, in keltie’s book, she says she often had pay ryan's bills for him. also in her book, she stated that he didn't take their relationship seriously, leading him to propose to her and asking her to move in (maybe he wasn't taking it as seriously as you because he was barely in his 20s keltie just a thought). they broke up in 2009 right before the split. we’ll touch on that again later. there is honestly so much more that i could say about this relationship/keltie, but some of it will be covered in this iceberg and the rest will be linked along with the jac info.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sun and moon:
another ryden entry. this refers to a theory about ryan and brendon about which one is considered the moon, and the other is the sun; it’s based on their personalities, like who embodies which more. polar opposites and all that. when ryden was still relevant, who is the moon vs who is the sun was a hotly debated topic (ryan is the moon, while brendon is the sun is the only correct answer).
this also loosely tied into some lyrics from panic and their solo music. for example, when the day met the night is often referenced in relation to this theory, although this song is definitely about keltie [vii]. also, in 2014 ryan wrote lonely moonlight, which also could refer back to this theory and kind of calls back to the lyrics in when the day met the night [viii]. however, this song is most likely about keltie too, if not another past relationship (not brendon).
dead end kids club:
this is a band/touring project that ryan was part of, including z berg, dan keyes, and the band palm springsteen. it was first announced in july, 2019. later that same year, they went on tour, hitting 8 cities for fall balls. this was referred to as the “1st annual” but….[ix]
in 2020, they released a song called lonesome town that featured a lot of videos from fans [x]. also that year, palm springsteen was accused of assault, which dekc posted a couple of statements about on twitter, here and here, stating that they had been removed from the project “a long time ago” [xi]. they pretty much disbanded after that and haven’t been active since october 2020.
livejournal:
iconic. livejournal (aka lj) was basically tumblr before tumblr existed. similarly, it could be used as a personal blog, a place to post rpf fic, an emo poetry hub, a photo album, etc. it’s on this iceberg because ryan was very prolific on livejournal, under the username i_amclandestine, and it’s essentially where panic! got its start. ryan made contact with pete wentz through lj, sending him the early demos, which lead to pete signing them and then cue domino effect to a taylor swift song.
anyway, ryan made many iconic posts on there, some of which will be addressed directly in this iceberg, but i will leave a link to an archive of his lj account for further viewing. he made his last post in june of 2006, but he deleted the account in july of that year after receiving a spam of hate. at the same time, brendon changed his (part_time_lovah) to friends only [xii].
along with the links to ryan’s old lj, i’m also going to link a youtube video by one of my favorite channels, the cozy representative, in which julian goes through ryan’s posts.
this is the web archive for ryan’s lj (does not include his last post):
this is a tumblr masterpost of all of his entries, including the last one missing from the above link:
and finally, julian’s video:
youtube
ryan and spencer childhood besties:
ryan and spencer became friends when they were around 5 or so years old, which was always the saddest part of the 2009 split to me. ryan and spencer were in the og band before panic!, which will be discussed later.
in 2016, spencer’s wife tweeted that ryan and spencer were still friends. however, ryan did not attend spencer’s wedding, which could have been for a number of reasons, one of which we will also discuss more heavily later on [xiii]. of course, there is no way for us to know whether ryan wasn’t invited or if he just decided not to go.
Tumblr media
mcr makes me dance:
in 2004, ryan went to the chemicalromance livejournal community and posted, “hey im ryan im new i live in las vegas my chemical romance makes me dance” and history was made [xiv]. this became a "meme" amongst panic! fans, and they started bringing signs with that phrase written on them for ryan told in pics. this has continued even in recent times.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
newsboy cap:
this is another iconic piece of ryan ross fashion. he wore it a lot in 2004-2006 cause he’s a little fruity. like seriously, this hat had him in the biggest chokehold.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, we move onto some of the deeper stuff and into the waters.

Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd sold the rights to the music catalog of their songs. The deal with Sony amounted to $400 million.
The deal includes the rights to the band's name and portraits of its members, which allows Sony to sell related products (clothing, souvenirs, etc.), as well as produce films and television programs. And, of course, the rights to publish music in various formats. The copyright remained with the musicians.
This deal became another in the list of high-profile purchases of Sony Music that have already taken place, in the summer of 2024, it managed to acquire the rights to the Queen group's music catalog for $ 1.27 billion.

James Blunt
British pop-rock artist James Blunt promised on his social networks that he would change his name if the anniversary reissue of his first album Back to Bedlam (2004) again took first place in the British charts. According to the musician, fans will be able to choose a new name for him.
In 2005, 2.4 million copies of Blunt's debut album were sold. In 2009, their number reached 3 million, which made the longplay the best-selling in Britain in the 2000s. The release includes hits such as You're Beautiful and Goodbye My Lover.
Back to Bedlam will be re-released on October 11.

Tom Hamilton
Life after Aerosmith continues.
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton said on social media that his new band Close Enemies will give their first concert on October 11 in Nashville. The band also includes drummer Tony Brock, vocalist Chasen Hampton, guitarists Peter Stroud and Trace Foster.
In his post, Hamilton wrote:
"Hi, I need to tell you something about a band called Close Enemies that I play in. We have a bunch of good songs recorded. We are going to release one of them very soon. Meanwhile, on October 11, we are performing in Nashville at an institution called the Eastside Bowl. Please come!"
Later, the bassist also added that the band rehearses a lot: "The songs sound amazing."
Tumblr media
A book about Bon Jovi will be released for the band's 40th anniversary.
Genesis Publications and Bon Jovi have announced the book "Bon Jovi Forever". BON JOVI gave Genesis unprecedented access to their entire archive to create an exciting journey through 40 years of the band's history, during which she created 16 albums.
Jon Bon Jovi says: "I never planned what I want people to feel when listening to our songs. But when you compose, it's often the songs that are closest to you that pass the test of time and turn out to be closest to others. If the song is written from the heart, and not just 'worked out', there is a high probability that the listener will find something important in your story."
John himself and his colleagues actively participated in the work on "Bon Jovi Forever", so the publication will have the status of an official one. The exact date has not yet been announced, but it is already known that the book will be available both separately and as part of a box set, which will also include an exclusive seven-inch vinyl record.

The trailer for the documentary "Elton John: Never Too Late" has been released.
"The film follows Elton John as he looks back on his life and the amazing early days of his 50-year career on this emotionally charged, personal and inspiring journey," the synopsis says. - As he prepares for his last concert in North America, at Dodger Stadium, Elton takes us back in time to talk about the extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows of his early years and how he overcame adversity, violence and addiction to become the icon he is today.
youtube
The documentary, directed by R. J. Cutler and David Furnish, premiered on September 6 at the Toronto Film Festival. The world premiere will take place on December 13 on Disney+.

Legendary Yes and King Crimson drummer Bill Bruford, who worked as a liaison with music for 15 years, returned to the stage as a special guest of the British jazz band Pete Roth Trio.
The band's website uses the phrase "jazz without borders". The musician is comforted that "they are creating jazz for a new worship of music that is free from the usual jazz stereotypes."
Bruford announced that he would start recording and releasing soon, on January 1, 2009. His last public concert with Earthworks took place on July 31, 2008. After retiring, Bruford earned a doctorate in music from the University of Surrey and wrote an autobiography, "Bill Bruford: The Autobiography. Yes, King Crimson, Earthworks and More”, which received many positive reviews.
With the exception of a brief participation in the Ann Bailey's Soul House cover band, Bruford's single foundation for the drum kit took place in 2023 at a concert in memory of John Wetton, who participated in the song "Let's Stick Together".
Tumblr media
The British band The Cure
She confirmed rumors that their album "Songs Of A Lost World" will be released on November 1. The longplay will be the first for the artists since 2008.
The band also presented the first track from the release of "Alone". According to The Cure's frontman Robert Smith, the nearly seven-minute song helped him understand the focus of the entire album.
The full-length album was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales. The gloomy, minimalistic cover was created by a long-time colleague of the team, designer and photographer Andy Vella. The work depicts the 1975 sculpture Bagatelle by Slovenian Janez Pirnat.

Ozzy Osbourne named the most favorite song from his repertoire.
"I have a real weakness for the ballad Mama, I'm Coming Home. The lyrics were written by Lemmy — but I described to him exactly what I wanted to say in it, that is, I set the content," says Ozzy in an interview with Classic Rock. "But I'll tell you what, I don't really have a personal favorite. People always ask me which is my favorite album that I've made — and I don't have one! All my recordings reflect either the fun and chaos or the terrible circumstances that happened to me. Each of them is a reflection of me at that time."
The song "Mama, I'm Coming Home" was released as the second single from the album "No More Tears" in late November 1991. It was one of two collaborations with Lemmy on the album, the other being "Hellraiser".
youtube
In an interview with Classic Rock in 2013, Lemmy recalled how he came up with the lyrics of the song.
"I came up with this song," said the late Motörhead leader. "He sent me a text about what he would like to sing, and I think he gave me the title, but that's it. I'm good at it because that's how I write our songs — I come up with a title, and then I write a song based on it. Later, Ozzy and I were doing an interview in the same tent at this festival, and one guy asked: "The song Mama I'm Coming Home is the most personal thing you've written. Was she a big jerk to you?" And Ozzy just said, "He wrote it!"
Tumblr media
The frontman of the British band Coldplay, Chris Martin, sang one of the new songs of the band in a karaoke bar in Las Vegas under the guise of another person.
Chris Martin took to the stage in a baggy suit, wig, glasses and with an inflatable balloon in his hand. In a local bar, the musician performed the song "All My Love". This track will be part of the band's upcoming album "Moon Music", which is scheduled for release on October 4. There will be a total of ten tracks in the longplay.
youtube
In August, Coldplay's "Music of the Spheres" tour became the highest-grossing rock tour of all time. Before that, the record belonged to Elton John.
Tumblr media
Ringo Starr announced the cancellation of concerts in Philadelphia and New York due to his illness.
According to the artist's representative on social networks, Ringo caught a cold and the doctor advised him to rest. Starr played a total of 10 concerts before falling ill. His All-Starr Band now includes Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Hamish Stewart, Gregg Bissonnette and Buck Johnson.
We wish Ringo to get well and hit the drum again 🥁

Tim’s 2024: A Question of Focus
Tumblr media
DIIV
The more time I spend listening to new music, the more I realize the extent to which my year-end list is largely dependent on the records I’ve chosen to focus on reviewing for Dusted. It takes time to listen to and digest music to the point where I find myself with something approaching insightful to say, which means I’m pretty discerning when it comes to choosing albums to review. There’s only so much time available to listen to new music, so it pays to focus the firehose of continuous new releases into a manageable stream. All of the following have necessitated repeat listens, not only in order to get my head around them, but also to get my head into them, to lose myself in their world. There’s been a hell of a lot of great music released this year; these are the records I kept returning to.
1. DIIV — Frog In Boiling Water (Fantasy)
youtube
DIIV’s third album, Deceiver, felt like a step up for the band, and Frog In Boiling Water is the band really hitting their stride, melding shoegaze, dream-pop and grunge into a heady, addictive brew that scratches the same itch that Loveless and Siamese Dream did when I was a teenager. Thick, complex guitarscapes such as “In Amber” and “Somber The Drums” characterize much of the album’s appeal, but it was the scouring, dread-soaked “Soul-net” that I replayed more than any song this year.
2. The Smile — Cutouts (XL)
youtube
It’s been a good year to be a Radiohead fan, with two albums from The Smile, a solo tour from Thom Yorke, and a book of photography from bassist Colin Greenwood. The Smile’s Cutouts, the second of the year’s two albums, balances head-nodding guitar intricacy with zone-out synth jams. Compared to January’s Wall Of Eyes, it feels like an embarrassment of riches on the songwriting side.
3. Loma — How Will I Live Without A Body? (Sub Pop)
youtube
Emily Cross, Jonathan Meiburg and Dan Duszynski took a bit of a left turn on their second album, Don’t Shy Away, veering into more synth-focused art-pop territories. It didn’t always cohere, so it’s a relief that Loma have returned to what they do best on album three: stark, haunted indie-rock with plenty of atmosphere and gorgeous songs.
4. Luke Temple and The Cascading Moms — Certain Limitations (Western Vinyl)
youtube
Following his diversion into Arthur Russell-esque beat-drift under the pseudonym Art Feynman, Luke Temple returns to releasing music under his given name and recruits new band The Cascading Moms. Their chops are razor-sharp and the songwriting swings between languid and impressively funky.
5. Jessica Pratt — Here In The Pitch (Mexican Summer)
I’d not paid much attention to Jessica Pratt before this year, but Here In The Pitch’s combination of classic 1960s wall-of-sound production and simple but affecting songwriting really won me over. In some ways it feels like a more digestible cousin of Cindy Lee’s colossal Diamond Jubilee. “World On A String” and “Empires Never Know” are especially stunning.
6. Jon Mckiel — Hex (You’ve Changed)
2020’s Bobby Joe Hope was Jon Mckiel’s low-key breakout with its combination of found-sound tape loops and affecting songwriting. Hex digs deeper into more abstract territories that feel dark and dejected yet sweetly hopeful.
7. Winged Wheel — Big Hotel (12XU)
youtube
To my mind, shoegaze is at its best when the whole surge of sound feels like it could collapse at any moment. What keeps Big Hotel on the rails and piledriving forward is the twin-drum attack of Fred Thomas and Steve Shelley. The swirl and burn of the music’s relentless momentum feels like trying to take refuge in a wildfire, cooled by the balm of Whitney Johnson’s airy vocals.
8. Rosali — Bite Down (Merge)
This one was a common pick on our mid-year lists, and for good reason. Bite Down strikes a sweet balance between the melodic songwriting of my personal Rosali favorite Trouble Anyway, and the shaggy jams of her backing band Mowed Sound.
9. Nilufer Yanya — My Method Actor (Ninja Tune)
youtube
Single “Mutations” pulled me in with its intricate guitar and bass work, the tumble of toms, and Yanya’s disaffected purr. My Method Actor mines this seam thoroughly, approaching mid-tempo indie-rock with an artisan’s attention to detail and some achingly beautiful arrangements.
10. Body Meπa — Prayer In Dub (Hausu Mountain)
Much like Winged Wheel’s Big Hotel, Prayer In Dub throws the listener into a dense, swirling guitar-bass-drums soundscape of intricately shifting layers. The playing is absolutely stellar, especially from drummer Greg Fox, and sounds amazing when loud.
10 more in alphabetical order:

Today's compilation:
Freezone 3/5 1996 Deep House / Downtempo / Trip Hop
Really living up to my own name here with something a little bit random today: a mid-90s 12-inch from an ambient and chill series called Freezone that was released by Belgian label SSR. Originally launched in 1994, Freezone ended up spawning seven total volumes that explored the bounds of ambient music—as well as the many adjacent and hybrid genres that it combined itself with too—and did so with nothing but exclusive tracks that were contributed by some of electronic and alternative music's biggest names.
So this little four-song record here represents a slice of Freezone's third installment, which was subtitled as Horizontal Dancing. Issued in multiple formats, Horizontal Dancing could be acquired as either a double-disc, a quintuple-vinyl, or, sort of oddly, as five separate 12-inches that made up that quintuple-vinyl version itself, all of which could be purchased individually. And, well, today I have one of those separate 12-inches for you all—the third one 😅.
Now, obviously, there are two sides to this record, but in my estimation, one of them is great and the other one is good. And the great one is the A-side, which consists of a sweet banger from Chicago deep house legend Glenn Underground and a spacious downtempo and trip hop wanderer from short-lived UK duo 2 Player.
Glenn Underground's track is called "Tribe of Benjamin," and while it takes a little bit of time to really start to find its footing, when it eventually does, it's pretty fantastic. You kinda feel like Glenn's decided to settle on this little plateau in the early going with a somewhat meager combination of these little stabby string synths, a phat and fuzzy bassline, and a popping bit of percussion that smacks of this little piece from Andrea True Connection's disco classic, "More, More, More"—which would then later be sampled by Canadian alternative rap group Len for their all-time summer classic, "Steal My Sunshine"—but what you're not ready for is all the breathy flute that unexpectedly comes and cinches it all together 😌. And then following that section, the song proceeds to flow and grow into a fuller track, allowing for some chilly keyboard chords and squealy strings to be added into the mix as well. Sleekly premium mid-90s Windy City deep house groove there 👍.
And then for that 2 Player joint, we have "Arizona," an excellently chill and Middle Eastern-tinted vibe with blowing wind, rattling rattlesnake tails, and a whole lot of varied synth work that more or less speaks to the expertise of both of the duo's own members. In '95, they debuted with a 12-inch on UK electronic powerhouse Ninja Tune, then in' 96, they made this exclusive for Freezone 3, and since then, Daniel Pemberton has gone on to become a renowned composer for film, TV, and videogames, with his biggest claims to fame being his scorings of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, its sequel, and Ocean's 8; and Jon Tye would further grow his own leftfield electronic label, Lo Recordings, which has been able to boast a catalog that consists of Aphex Twin, Susumu Yokota, Squarepusher, Red Snapper, Fischerspooner, Blur, Grimes, Luke Vibert, Jean Jacques Perrey, Rothko, Four Tet, and Thurston Moore 😯. Quite a varied set of talented folks there!
So a couple dope and exclusive 90s electronic gems on this Belgian 12-inch that happens to form one-fifth of a much larger compilation. Like I said, the flipside of this record is good too—a solid deep house cut from Matthew Herbert aka Doctor Rockit aka Wishmountain and a downtempo/ambient tune from longtime Scottish trip hopper Howie B.—but I don't think that either of those offerings are really as enjoyable as what's on the A-side here.
Highlights:
Glenn Underground - "Tribe of Benjamin" 2 Player - "Arizona"

omg some music recs for u! always by jon vinyl, good intentions and out of the blue by rini, pool and behind by woodz, overflow by jeebanoff, the dress by dijon, closer by aiowell and summer love by black party (sorry once i start i can’t stop). i would love recs from you too, songs and movies both please! have a great day! :)
omg don't apologize for all the recs!! I love when anybody recommends me music I think it's a really sweet thing to share something like that w/ someone 🫶🏼 I loveeeeeeed behind and overflow sososososososo much!! instant saves, I've got such a soft spot for melancholic tunes lol 🧎🏻‍♀️🙂‍↕️
I tried to match the general vibe of the music u sent bc without a guideline I will go off the rails lmfao: space jam (an odyssey) - orion sun, not for sale - Zion. t, afterglow - luna li, snakes on my Nokia - berwyn, sleep walk - deftones, restless - bibi, two weeks - fka twigs, thirst - dpr live, gold - offonoff, foolsong - still woozy
as far as movies go I could also go off the rails w/ this one, but just general movies that have been on my mind recently r as follows: Scream VI (so I watched this recently w/ a friend and my expectations were kind of low bc I didn't like 5 that much but omggg I truly think this is the best one right after of course the original), Romeo + Juliet dir. baz luhrmann (im really really obsessed w/ the way affection & intimacy is portrayed in this movie bc everything is so terribly soft), Mad Max: Fury Road dir. George Miller (this movie is just so beautiful all around and never once does it feel boring to watch.. it also has a powerful message + I love the way the women are written in this movie + the non-romantic relationship between the 2 leads)
I will leave u w/ all of those 🫡 thank u for asking for recs!! I could literally talk endlessly about these 2 things, I just really love the way movies and music make me feel and how much care goes into both

🎸 (also hi, it's been like forever)
AAA HI HELLO !!! i hope u are doing well 🥺❤️❤️
i’m doing this with my liked songs which means Every Genre Ever. no matter how much i want to skip some songs to save myself from embarrassment i am sticking to it and staying honest. don’t judge me pfjfj
1. peter parker — tyrese pope
^ a certified bop from the perspective of both a big fan of music and also a big fan of spider-man
2. wanna be missed — hayley kiyoko
i’m a lesbian. next song <3
3. hand of god - outro — jon bellion
jon bellion is SO fucking talented holy SHIT. he has a lot of like religious elements to his music and i’m not religious literally at all and usually that can throw me off BUT he does it in a way that doesn’t feel forceful? like it doesn’t feel like he’s putting songs out that only other religious people can enjoy—it’s just good music that happens to have religious aspects to it because his religion is part of who he is and therefore part of his music, too. idk if that makes sense but i love it.
hand of god specifically is INSANE. it’s WAY more impactful if you listen to the full album leading up to it tho bc it has so many samples and shit from the other songs and just !!! incredible. one of my all time favorite artists.
4. monsters — the midnight, jupiter winter
the midnight is also one of my favorite artists, the vibe of their music is just SO good. i have multiple of their albums on vinyl lmao.
5. you don’t know — eminem, 50 cent, ca$his, lloyd banks
ok look. i was raised by a depressed white dad in poverty. of COURSE i have eminem on here. apparently the music we would listen to most while i was being driven to daycare was eminem and veggie tales so like…. do with that info what u will.
for every 🎸 i receive, i’ll make a playlist of 5+ songs from my music on shuffle!

Darwin Chamber X DJ Spun - Darwin Chamber X DJ Spun (Rong Music)
8DPromo · Darwin Chamber X DJ Spun - Darwin Chamber X DJ Spun (Rong Music)
In a bold meeting of minds, Darwin Chamber and DJ Spun join forces for a four-track EP that pushes the boundaries of techno music. This self-titled release on Rong Music showcases the duo's combined decades of experience, resulting in a sonic journey that's nostalgic yet forward-thinking. The EP kicks off with "Find The Missing Letter," a deep techno cut that weaves dub-inspired elements with hypnotic synth chimes. It's a crafty builder that sets the tone for what's to come. "Digits" follows, living up to its name with a relentless beat that evokes images of robotic revelry. This dark, driving track shows the producers' ability to create tension and release on the dancefloor. "Do It All Night" emerges as the EP's sultry centerpiece; its pulsating rhythm and seductive groove are designed to keep bodies popping until dawn. The release closes with "Ants," a mid-tempo curiosity that crawls under your skin with its analog warmth and acidic undertones. Darwin Chamber, aka Mark Greenfield, brings his extensive background in sound engineering and early contributions to breakbeat and trip-hop to the table. DJ Spun, the alias of Jason Drummond, infuses the project with his deep understanding of New York's club culture. Together, they've created a release that'll resonate across the DJ-sphere and club-land.
DJ H4L 9000 (VOlumens Festival) – “Finally a promo from one of the record labels that has fascinated me most over the last 20 years. Super as always!” ROBOT84 / Scott Ferguson (Paper Recordings) – “Very cool tracks. I’m feeling them all.” Sean Johnston (Hardway Bros) – “Oh, this is very good. ‘Ants’ is my favorite.” Sumsuch (Colour and Pitch) – “Raw and fabulous!” Jon Fugler (XLNT Radio Show) – “Loving ‘Ants’. Relentless and infectious – top notch! ‘Find the Missing Letter’ is, quite frankly, bonkers.” Bruce Tantum (DJ Mag) – “Amazing record. A beautiful set of tunes from an iconic label.”
Available Now on Vinyl and Digital. Get it on Bandcamp.

For those watching Good Omens, seasons 1 and 2 on Prime, let me just say Season 1 is an adventure, season 2 is a love story.
And Neil Gaiman has promised a third season, if Prime gets enough views on the show. The actors—David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Derek Jacobi in a small but pivotal part—are fantastic, it looks great, the writing (the brilliant Neil Gaiman) is humorous and yet layered with meaning. All I can say is they referenced my favorite things this season—coffee shops, Jane Austen, vinyl record stores, Buddy Holly and big band music, romantic tropes, quaint downtowns full of quirky people—and kept all the best from last season, the beloved magical bookshop full of rare books that are never sold, definitely my idea of heaven, that CAR, gorgeous and big enough to live in (and probably have sex in the back seat) with a magical radio, the strange cool modernistic emptiness of heaven, the crushing crawling sweaty claustrophopia of an overcrowded hell, the familiar feel of layers of government incompetency at both the highest and lowest levels, and all the costumes and sets and historical references are such fun. I absolutely loved the ridiculousness of Jon Hamm, the sweetness of Sheen, the cleverness of Tennant, and the way the two main characters have built on and expanded their highly unusual friendship.
With all the songs this season, Good Omens could make a neat little musical, depending on Season 3. And it would be great to have two people play that who could switch the roles of Aziraphale and Crowley back and forth. Not that they would HAVE to, exactly, but it is kind of the point that Gaiman and his old pal Terry Pratchett seemed to be making. We are all a little angel, a little devil, a lot human.

notes of a restless girl.
HelloFresh always wants to know my dinner plans...
I just finished my purple juice... It’s actually my greens, but it turns purple when I put whole blueberries in it. So refreshing and good for you. So tonight, I think I’ll make a chicken bowl, with sweet potatoes, green beans, cauliflower rice, ground chicken and season it, with baby spinach, a little bit of balsamic glaze. I’ve been eating extra healthy, plus it makes me feel so much better. I’m a Trader Joe’s Shopper and Sprouts, but I’m also a Walmart Shopper.
A writing I did back in 2018...  (I want to get this writing back, I miss it)
I’ve been lost in a carte de visite…
I used to be on the edge of hip, city of randomness and fragments of intimate notes detailed my leather-bound journal. How enchanting all the fine flowers of culture, days of youth, and evenings were delicious, such a flawless triumph of my art.
Now my days turn into nights and the nights back into days and I feel as if I’m trapped, ground hog day on repeat.
I’ve never been an emotional eater, but I’ve always been an emotional shopper. I buy things I really don’t need, and I end up giving half of the things away. How many 12 cup muffin pans do you need from Zulily? I don’t even eat gluten. The thing is… I bury a lot of things under the serenity of my thoughts, only to become rainstorms when the sun is out. On those rainy days my hair often always resembles early Jon Bon Jovi and with that, I feel like a rocker again. I love to read, I paint, and I walk around in music stores that carry old vinyl’s to feel the nostalgia of a long ago. I sip on cold coffee in my bed on lazy Sundays, watch ridiculous old movies from the 1940’s, and I recite Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, “I’m like cat here, a no-name slob. We belong to nobody, and nobody belongs to us. We don’t even belong to each other,” then I make my way to an old bookstore and find out at the end of the night I owe the cashier $200.00 for more books to read.
This coming up February two years ago back, I literally overflowed my feng shui. Too many calculations and visuals to recall, and too much Zen is a lot of Zen; Kombucha on the daily, and anything that consisted of matcha. My chakras were on fire. So the next day I took a painting class, legally calling myself an artist and insisted on pursuing my Picassoistic state further. You know, diving into my inner artistic ability of what I called my very own painting talent, blobs. It’s really hard to paint a tree, and with that it only lasted about six months.
One day this scenario took a gigantic tug in the night, a seedy little bar where poets speak. She had the voice of Wynona Ryder, that mystic, seductive lull, the kind she eluded in the movie, “Heathers,” with the softness of trouble; though she never spoke of slushies, just about the falling down trees from a thunderstorm that inhibited the area. “How sad, how sad, no one will… will know that tree, NO ONE,” as she raised her voice in turmoil hardness, kind of startling the audience that sat before her in quiet trance, anticipating her next move. At the end of her session, she said softly, “fucking sad, the beauty of every living creature and thing deserves someone to know who they are,” and with that she fell to the floor, in sweet rectitude. Very intriguing, I thought.
So I started to study the science of intrigue; it was intriguing to say the least. But what is funny is how when we, (just me) I guess is sad, I just like to submerge myself even deeper and deeper into the abyss of sadness. LET’S GET SADDER… sad, SADDER, and SADDEST, until I’m the saddest of them all, and there I go into hibernation of watching the old 1940 movies. I find myself knee deep into French films I can’t even pronounce, let alone understand, hash tag Netflix. I submerge myself into French music that will make me cry, and I have found, we put all our time and energy into the wrong people, only to find out later that we’ve lost the other people that meant more to us.
But who knew that liberation was about to knock down my door. Walking around your house naked drinking a glass of wine, while listening to Paolo Nutini songs, and making muffins for no one in particular but to say, you make muffins. I forgot I had this obsession with Paolo Nutini’s songs and all the jazz I could get my hands on. Jazz, jazz and more jazz… Nine Simone, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald. Mmmm, just to name some of the best. Chet Baker, my funny valentine.
I have found that I often need certain poets in my life. I exist sometimes only on a diet of F. Scott Fitzgerald; the letters he wrote to Zelda, drinking too much Emily Dickinsons words, and sprinkling it with a dash of Poe. I love when my journal weeps, “I am art…I am to be appreciated, loved and adored. I deserve to be remembered, I deserve to be someone’s muse” … and then, I go to some seedy bar and work my way around a stage flinging words in momentous harmony upon all my thoughts within my breath, my expressions in my metaphors, the feelings to my force, the arrangements in my syntax, captivating like a shadow by night. Reading and writing my own poetry.
I needed my very own muse.
Of him, it was all a haunting. I collected my scattered passion from memories plucked from his musings. Quick and lionized, he stole my heart, and I knew nothing of how to get it back. It was when the newborn moon’s whispered, I saw it evolve into cobwebs. It no longer fit, and with thoughtful consideration I just couldn’t keep watering dead roots. I realized he had become my ghost.
He doesn’t know this, I could still feel as if he never mattered. Nonchalant beats of broken and I was on the edge of every August moon. I was easily persuaded by his love, delving into moments of fire bathing and my desire of wanting nothing else.
In these temples of our lost art, there was a simple sign of no tomorrow and it was as if we knew it. The night sky is deep enough to get lost in, just like life, just like him and he always made me feel like velvet.
