Lee Thompson Young (February 1, 1984 – August 19, 2013) was an actor who began his career as a teenager, playing the titular character on The Famous Jett Jackson. Major roles included playing Chris Comer in Friday Night Lights and Boston police detective Barry Frost on Rizzoli & Isles.
At age ten, he portrayed Martin Luther King Jr. in a play called A Night of Stars and Dreams by Dwight Woods, and the Phillis Wheatley Repertory Theater of Greenville, South Carolina. It was then that he decided he wanted to become an actor.
He starred in Johnny Tsunami. Although the movie was successful, he did not reprise the role in the sequel, Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board.
He had guest spots in The Guardian and a part in Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story. He appeared in South Beach, and he portrayed Victor Stone in Smallville.
He appeared in the feature film Akeelah and the Bee. He played National Guard rookie, Delmar, in The Hills Have Eyes 2. He played a cocky surgical intern in Scrubs.
He played the role of Al Gough, an FBI agent, in FlashForward. His last acting role was playing Barry Frost on Rizzoli & Isles, and he made an appearance on The Good Guys as the brother and business partner of an arms dealer.
He graduated with honors from USC, where he majored in cinematic arts and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He enjoyed writing and wrote the screenplay for the short film Mano. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #kappaalphapsi

Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board (2007)
What a welcome sequel! Such a breath of fresh air all of these characters are and revisiting them after so long feels so right. This was a nice perspective for a Johnny Tsunami sequel. The change in story made it not feel played out and it was all very natural. Sucks that they recast Sam. I would have liked to see our original guy again before he passed. This was a good role for Jake T. Austin, too. He’s done very well on Disney and its great seeing him pre-Wizards. I love when Disney Channel takes us (or pretends to take us) to Hawaii! All the action and greenery is great. The style really feels good when they shoot, even though it’s all somewhat dated. I LOVED the Jonas Brothers and Plain White T’s songs back to back in the movie. Really classic ‘07 vibes. Fun watch!

If there is a s2 of sk8, on god they need to introduce a character who surfs. It makes the most sense as it’s basically a lateral move into the skate scene.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secondary Heroes Journey
This is a script I wrote for a video I took offline that mocked the video essay style of Nerdwriter. I do agree with all the points and I loved the structure of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, I just didn’t feel the need to keep it online and it really only seemed relevant to this episode of our podcast. Similar to Johnny Kapahala, Fantastic Beasts has a set up protagonist that takes the backseat to the heroes journey of who we assumed would be a secondary character. Many works of fiction have used this structure, See: Around the World in 80 days. It is compelling and creates a unique storytelling voice. Here’s my short video essay script:
When I saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in IMAX, the one thing that kept coming to mind was: Magic.
I grew up reading Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, so I don’t mean magic in terms of spells and sorcery. I mean, Magic. Real, Fantastical, Movie magic. That feeling that you get, when you’re shown a world unlike anything you’ve ever seen. With 8 movies already in the Harry Potter franchise, I didn’t think this was possible. But J.K. Rowling and the screenwriters did something truly brilliant with the first installment of this series. They wrote the story from the perspective of us.
Fantastic Beasts seems to be the story of Newt Scamander, a powerful wizard with an affection for magical creatures. But his story just consists of him bringing a bunch of supposedly dangerous creatures to America, telling MACUSA they are misunderstood (Much like himself), and then by the end of the film, everyone learns he was right. But this isn’t really his journey, it’s ours.
Jacob Kowalski is a normal person, who lives a normal life, in the normal world.
He, is us. He doesn’t live in a world of Horcruxes, Quidditch or exploding snap. He lives in the real world. So when he is taken beyond the threshold into this amazing journey, we are too. His sense of wonder is ours as well.
A perfect example of this is the zoo scene. Newt is taking care of the animals, and for him this is just daily routine. But through Jacob’s eyes we see everything with a sense of wonder. We get to see what it would be like to be there, and we even get to see how we would react to it.
This entire story is about what it would be like, for us to see magic with our own eyes.
