I’ve had multiple JD AUs in mind but the one I’m most fixated on writing rn is:
- “Hook”
Some info in this AU, trolls can reproduce an egg by asexual reproduction or two trolls have strong feelings for each other that it can manifest through an egg
Another thing to add, the trolls had managed to escape from Bergen Town before Brozone split up, and the Family Harmony was meant to be their first concert in the new Troll village as a way to celebrate
What changes is that once their Grandma’s taken by the Chef and Branch turns grey, King Peppy decides they need to relocate once again, which none of the brother were aware of (I’ll get in detail with Viva and Clay’s situation later)
While exploring the Neverglade Forest and having an egg, he also finds baby Rhonda
The egg reminds him of his brothers, especially Bitty B, and wanting his egg to grow up with his family, he decides to head back
Something goes wrong though and while severely injured, stumbles near the Rock Trolls, where King Thrash and toddler Barb were on a stroll of sorts
Despite clearly being a pop troll, King Thrash does wish to see egg orphaned so he does his best to save JD
Unfortunately, his injuries were too severe and the doctors note that him being able to get close to the Rock Volcano from the Neverglades was a miracle
The egg does hatch and JD gets to hold him before his death but isn’t able to slip out the name he wanted for him (Branch actually knows as JD had once told him as a baby what he would name his children if he had any but his memory won’t be jogged until the end of the fic)
Barb is the one who names him, which is Hook
Hook is then raised by the Rock Trolls, who don’t treat him any differently as he was basically one of them
Rhonda is raised by them as well, her being Hook’s and Barb’s “secret” hideout
Hook helps Barb in World Tour and meets Poppy when she’s captured, who is shocked to meet him as he’s nearly identical to JD from Brozone
He briefly explains that he had been raised by the Rock Trolls, he has no loyalty to the Pop Trolls and is doing it because he feels it’s the least he can do for Barb
Branch doesn’t meet him until after the strings are ripped and every genre gets their color back
Think of it like the scene from Secret of the Wings where Tinker Bell meets Periwinkle, with Branch seeing a familiar silhouette and calling out “John Dory?”
King Thrash has a strong reaction to that name (he had forgotten his name, only knowing he was named after a fish), which prompts Barb and Hook to turn around, Branch going through a mix of emotions at seeing someone who looks identical to JD standing right before him
Cue Branch starting to tear up and growling in frustration/hurt when Hook gets defensive over King Thrash while asking who John Dory is
I already have ideas for Band Together but I feel like I should save them until I’m done with this first part first (there’s define a lot of angst)
Part 2

Brozone Older Brothers' NSFW Headcannons
Tumblr media
🧡John Dory:
Whew, boy, are you in for a treat!
So it'd been 20 years-ish, since he'd been in Pop Troll culture, so he is out of practice when it comes to intimacy.
100% an ass and thighs man: You bend over in front of him, no matter what you're doing, instant hard on.
He's more of a grower than a shower: 5.1 inch normal and 5.3 when hard (Correct my if this is wrong bc I know nothing about penis education lmao)
Play with his ears, or even his tail, and he is instant putty in your hands.
Turn-ons include: edging (giving or receiving), eating you out/blowing you, (loves receiving more than giving but will still pleasure you as well as you did him) tying you up (and he knows some different knots from his adventuring days) and many more that I can't think of lol.
Def gives me top vibes but once in a while you'll catch him off guard and top the hell out of him
When you do top him, he is such a whiny little bitch, and you hold him there for hours until the sunshine peeks through your curtains.
Leave hickeys on his neck and he'll happily wear them and preen when you press a soft kiss to them when you're jealous.
When it's jealousy sex, angry sex, or sex in general, the bed will be creaking, Rhonda will be shaking, and anyone who happen to walk by the armadillo-bus will know exactly what's going on and run away in horror at the noises they heard.
He is a caveman when you first meet but starts to clean himself up a bit.
Is a total mess when it comes to cum. He cums buckets in you (if given consent), on your face, stomach, anywhere really.
Tumblr media
Bruce:
Ooh, this is gonna be fun
So Bruce has had his fair share of lovers, and knows his way around different genitalia and how to expose his partner's feel good spots.
Ugh, please please pull his tail
Just like the rest of him, he's pretty girthy down there, but is still long enough to hit those special spots.
His hair is beautifully tamed, which means he is tamed down there too, and even learned to make different shapes and designs out of pubic hair.
Def a a shower and grower: 3.5 when flaccid, but a whopping 5.5 when hard
He knows how to use his mouth, hands, and tail to make his partner scream
Def a power bottom; watches you through half lidded eyes as you take what you want from him, occasionally praising or degrading you, depending on his mood.
He's a attentive lover, and will cherish everything about your lovemaking, and make sure you're okay.
Turn ons include: hair (only time) and tail pulling, you making eye contact with him while making lewd gestures, being a brat and teasing him, morning 69, and loves when you surprise attack him; so many emotions flood through him, and he allows you to take some control, before he takes over and pushes you over the edge, with a smug smirk.
Sex is like a game to him: the end goals are making you feel like a million bucks and making you drunk on his love. Will tease you by cumming first, before he allows you to cum.
He is one smug son of a bitch when you can barely walk, or when someone makes a comment about the hickeys on your body (he leaves them everywhere), or about the scratches and bite marks on his back.
Tumblr media
📚 Clay:
Okay, so he wants to be the best you've ever had, so this bookworm absolutely studied up on how best to pleasure you. STUDIED FOR DAYS, and even studied while they were attempting to pleasure you.
Annoyed, you snatched the book from him, and turned the tables on them.
He's pretty average, right in the middle both length and thickness so pretty enjoyable for both parties.
Prefers giving than receiving, adores when you use your hair to hold him in place
THEY ABSOLUTELY ADORES THICCCCC THIGHS; (Yall see how thick Viva's thighs are? #CLIVIA )
Would spend hours in between your legs if you let him
Quite noises escape him....unless you bring out the dark green strap on and/or cock ring...then it's the Theatre Du Chatelet in y'all bedroom!
(Their brothers' overheard y'all one time, and the next day they all avoided your smirk and Clay's bright purple blush when you make a smart comment.)
Everyone sees him as serious/fun, but when you two are intimate, it's just Daddy and Baby Girl, it's up to you to figure out which is which, (😉)
Always uses protection just to prevent any accidents.
With you, he can let go of labels and just be Clay and they love you for that.
Turn ons: that strap on/cock ring, dem thighs, being pulled closer when they go down on you, you taking control, just you in general, teasing him in public, making suggestive comments in his ear while his brothers' and friends are around and he can't do nothing but try to make the blush go away and ac natural, glaring darkly at you when no one was looking.
He is clean and trimmed down there.

and what if I gave BroZone a super self-indulgent single mom huh what then
anyway. This is Rosiepuff's daughter Lisi (short for Lisianthus)
- the first pic was my first attempt at designing her, and the second pic is my second, slightly more finalized pass, tightening up her color scheme. I decided I wasn't sold on the yellow streaks fgfggh.
- originally I wanted to name her after some kind of colorful bird or fish to go with her hair, and to match with John Dory, but I couldn't find any names I liked ghggf. So I just went with an uncommon flower name instead.
- personality wise, she has a little bit of everything: JD's determination, Bruce's chill, Clay's humor, and Floyd's empathy. And maybe just a liiiittle bit of Branch's stubborness, too. Her approach to being a "survivalist" is a lot less extreme than her sons—she does emphasize the importance of safety and staying vigilant but she also wants to give her sons the richest childhood she can so she's generally a lot more relaxed and open.
- while designing her I thought to myself, "what if she doesn't really have anything evoking Branch because she died before she could meet him 🙀"
- so anyway lisianthus flowers are meant to represent "lasting bonds" so make of that what you will

I just remembered that Delta was with country Branch in Ronda, how does band together go with her there?
So BroZone gets a lot of chastising in Country Branch. John Dory attempts to interrupt the wedding and all of a sudden he hears the absolutely scariest voice yell 'Sit down.' Well, not yell. Firmly say in the same tone of voice that has you knowing you are about to be grounded. Despite being a forty year old man and not knowing who the hell said that he listened.
When he tries to recruit Branch for the rescue, Delta's doing most of the talking. John Dory makes the mistake of asking 'And who are you supposed to be? His mommy?'
The only reason John Dory doesn't die is because Trolls is for children.
At Bruce's instead of the group running up, Delta goes first and introduces herself to Bruce and compliments his parenting. Before she can ask about 'Spruce' (not that she doesn't already have the gist of the situation) she starts rambling about her darling son and what a good mannered, hardworking country boy he is.
She then proceeds to yell "Branchidiah! Come introduce yourself!"
The Country Branch AU version of 'Branchifer' is Branchidiah, if you couldn't tell.
Delta cuts Bruce's attempt at a reunion off to continue to rave about what a good son her Branch is in spite of his 'no good rotten siblings'.
She a little bit talks down to Clay.
Clay: If I was still fun would I have chosen the admin building as my bedroom? Delta: *laughs* Oh well bless your heart, ain't you a cute one? Delta: *pats his cheek* I remember when I was young and wild, oh I thought I was a big shot, tough as nails troll too.
Floyd she keeps trying to feed any time she sees him and telling him he's whiter than a ghost.
Delta: Now come eat this chili, you're as pale as a sheet and just as likely to go blowin' away in the wind. Floyd: I'm okay, I'm not hungry. Delta: I insist. You look like you've had the life sucked outta ya. Floyd: Misses Delta Dawn, that joke wasn't funny the first time you said it.

What would happen if Branch decided to leave with no notice 👀👀
He recognizes his relationship with his brothers isn't healthy and he isn't happy. So he packs up what clothes he was able to hide away. So maybe he and Creek leave in the middle of the night as that's kinda become the only friend that stayed.
What would the brothers do? How would they react when they realize that they don't know where Branch would go because they never listened to him.
Your works give me LIFEEEE
Absolute chaos
Clay would try to use logic and be as serious and calm as possible with Branch's "friends" to know if they have seen him, each one would tell him a place and after looking and not finding Branch, Clay would also fall into total panic, he enters Branch's room and sees that things are missing (something that the brothers in good faith let Branch keep for good attitude), and after not seeing Creek, Clay would know what happened.
Bruce (who was on Vacay Island would find out from a letter sent by Clay, and one from Floyd totally insane asking if Branch was on the island) would be devastated, and after telling Brandy about Branch's apparently missing (Brandy has no idea of the true situation, she and her sons and daughter, they think Bruce is making up for lost time with Branch, at some point Brandy will come in, I think) so he goes to Pop Village to help with the situation, He knows they won't find Branch, not anytime soon or anytime soon, and he knows it's his fault and everyone else's, but he doesn't want to lose his brother, not again.
Those who take it the worst are John Dory and Floyd.
Floyd is a walking mess, he doesn't get out of the bunker because if he does he could blow his in front of everyone and he doesn't want that, but he also spends a lot of time in the driveway just waiting to see when Branch comes back (at this point Creek may be the only reason Branch didn't turn around and go back to his brothers, they may have made Branch very dependent on them if they managed to get all of their friends on their side and didn't leave Branch with a lot of options, So if Creek is being or trying to be a good friend), Floyd would try to manipulate one of Branch's bounty hunter friends (we all know he became close to the K-pop gang and the gang of Regetton, and Hickory) into looking for Branch using Creek as a scapegoat by saying that he kidnapped Branch or something.
John Dory, he's worse than Floyd, he's an adventurer, he's lived a lot and done a lot of things, and he's got Rhonda, and while Branch and Creek are on foot, John moves faster, and I'm pretty sure John knows how to track and Rhonda is an animal, I say I can track Clay, she can track Branch, but Branch is a survivor so they're both 50/50, John would be a complete hunter, and his prey is Branch (and if this really happened in the fic, I'd have to put the Yandere John Dory tag, Because John would kill Creek to prevent Branch from escaping again, if he would be that crazy.)
And when he catches him, Branch will have a tracker, a new trauma, and there will be a chain in his room and a padlock on the door (maybe Bruce will have to tell Brandy just to help him come to his senses)
But if that would happen, and I like that you like my job B:]

Evil Thoughts ^^
So, I am having very evil thoughts about some John Dory Ideas.
Like what if, Time-Travel John Dory. This idea came to me about the worm holes in the Trolls: The Beat goes on. Like what if 20s or mid 30s John Dory went forward/Backwards in time, like they switch places. If 20s John Dory, he would be in his mid life crisis mindset and maybe a bit feral but would be in shock at seeing his family being older than him making him the youngest with a guilt conscious on his mind. I like the idea that JD was gray for a bit when he was exploring and adventuring so, he is gray when he travelled into the future. If 30s John Dory, he would’ve try and save their grandma but ultimately fail in doing so but he tries to make it up by taking care of Branch and becoming a right hand man for King Peppy. He would also went out to get his brothers back as well and apologize to them.
Looks: 20s JD, would look like a twink. To me, JD wouldn’t have that much to eat and would be considered very underweight and look very skinny and scrawny. He looks the same as when he had left Branch but gray and seems to be glaring at others often than not, keeping a very noticeable distance between others including his brothers.
For 30s JD, looks like his canon self but as time goes on, he dawns a more exhausted look to himself. He would be constantly staring off to the distance. He wears the same clothing as his canon else but would have to change it up a bit.
Extra Info: TT!20s JD is a menace. He loves to cause trouble as he is very used to it as he has lived in the forest for awhile but he does double down when he was taken into his now ‘older’ brothers and was learning how to be civil with the trolls of pop village.
TT!30s JD on the other hand, is old. He is considered to be his brothers father which he didn’t mind and neither does his brothers, now sons. He wanted to mend the relationship that he himself felt responsible for breaking the bond, as brothers and as their father.
Or What if a Time-Loop Au of where John Dory entered a worm hole in which he was struck by a weird light and he was suddenly back in his old body and decided to try an change the past but in doing so, he created time-loops in which certain events happened instead of what would’ve happened. Like each Aus that are created are time-loops that Time-Loop JD created but everytime a new loop is created the previous loop is still implanted into his mind making him even more depressed, anxious, wary, confused and distrustful towards others. The Time-Loop either resets when JD dies or if one of his brothers dies.
Looks: John Dory would look the same as his young canon self but as the time-loop progresses, he starts to change himself. He is more tired looking, dawns different article of clothing from each time-loop that went by, has an exhausted look in his eyes as he stares off to the distance. He even stops eating at one point and gotten skinny and underweight. Scars are littered around his body, from times that he died during the time-loops.
Extra Info: TL!JD is very forgetful. He sometimes forgets about time-loops where he dies instead of grandma or Branches Dies instead. It’s an endless loop of time. Sometimes they are short but sometimes they are long. The longs ones, are the ones that hit him the hardest as he would always remember them. Always.
The fact that I thought up of this is uncanny as, I had just remembered in Trolls: The beat goes on, in one of the episodes, they were sucked into a wormhole in which anything is possible so, I decided to make something from that knowledge. Also, I would think that John Dory, would’ve had encounters of wormholes from time to time but wouldn’t be able to go through into exploring one since he mostly didn’t have the time or Rhonda would’ve stopped him from going through.

My Kismet headcanons!!
Boom:
He’s 26 (two years older than branch). He’s gay, obviously. The rainbow hair isn’t natural though (it’s naturally purple), he dyes it even though trolls can change their hair colour. He’s Sky Toronto’s son. Sky doesn’t know how he feels about his son being in a boyband. Boom is a bit of an airhead, but he’s one of the kindest people you’ll meet, and he’s super energetic. Your personal space is his personal space. (But he understands if u got boundaries) I think he’d be the closest to branch.
Hype:
He’s 27. He’s also the only straight one in the group. Despite his name he’s pretty chill. He’s the type to go to a party just to talk to people. He has 2 older and one younger sibling, all girls. He gives branch dating advice (he’s never had a girlfriend, even though everybody thinks he’s attractive) It was his idea to start a band in the first place.
Trickee:
He’s also 27, and he’s bi. The white streaks in his hair aren’t natural either, but he uses his troll powers for them like a normal person. He’s the fun one of the group, always pulling a prank or two. He’s not afraid to throw a punch if he has to. He’s always flirting with ablaze and a joke (is it really a joke? Trickee claims it is.) He doesn’t have siblings but he has like 24 cousins (but they’re all about 15 years older than him. )
Ablaze:
He’s the oldest in the group, at 29. He’s unlabelled. Everybody thinks he’s a rock troll but he’s just edgy. The pop trolls always found him kinda weird for it. He’s pretty calm most of the time. (Unless it’s John Dory. He hates John Dory.) He’s old enough to remember branch being in Brozone (mostly because his older sister was oddly obsessed with (sp)bruce. (like the posters were EVERYWHERE). He seems intimidating at first but once you get to know him he’s super fun to be around. He puts up with Trickee’s flirting but actually plays along sometimes.
They meet after the first movie, but don’t start the band until after world tour. I don’t know how they’d meet but once I figure it out I’ll write a fic!

seeing as bruse/spruce had no clue about branch's death will you have him know about branch being taken before or after the other bros find out branch is realy alive? does floyd or jd ever visit the bruse sons and one daughter restraunt after floyd try getting him to come for branch birthday?
Ok so I do have a plan for how Bruce finds out and I’ll make a comic going more into depth but I’ll talk about it a little bit also there’s a fun answer and serious answer
Serious answer; after branch’s “death” jd took floyd and left the troll village to go traveling for sometime. finally John Dory thinks that a family reunion will do floyd some good yknow reconciliation and all that. he goes out to find Bruce without telling Floyd Their reunion is kinda like the movie, and after a while floyd has mellowed out with the help of sapphire and jd thinks Floyd is ready to meet Bruce so he takes him to vacay island to meet Bruce and… it goes horribly, and someone ends up with a broken nose. After floyd has calmed down jd explains to bruce what exactly happened to branch
Fun answer; Floyd sends Bruce a passive aggressive invite to branch’s funeral full with glitter scrapbook pop ups!

brozone hcs because the brainrot is real and i love them all so much mwah mwah (except they’re mostly about john dory because i just love him so much 😖)
john dory 100% calls the toilet a shitter (every time i think of this i giggle)
john dory is dyslexic and struggled to write songs for the band when he was younger and he didn’t stop until he finally had them down
they have karaoke parties at bruce & sons when it’s closed for the evening and it’s just the brothers
branch hates it when they fight
floyd & jd move to pop village, floyd moves into the bunker with branch and john dory stays in rhonda but is always near the bunker & he spends the night there sometimes
branch is closest to jd & floyd
branch’s second favourite brother is john dory but he refuses to admit it
bruce can rap
john dory has 100% definitely been arrested before
john dory knows the rasputin dance and will most definitely put on a show when it’s put on at parties
bruce listens to 50 dad music
john dory is lowkey scared of ghosts and hates it when branch tells ghost stories in the bunker when it’s dark in there
john dory is the father (figure) branch never had & he hates to admit it
the bros are feminists
for the first like 6 months on branch’s life jd was his favourite and he would only stop crying if he was in his hair/ if he was holding him
they’re really good at acapella
john dory cries watching the titanic
once a month they’ll all either stay in the bunker or vacay island and they have a family game night & it always gets really competitive (usually between jd and clay, bruce had to intervene before the board game gets snapped in two)
their mum was eaten before trollstice by a bergen that broke into the cage guarding the troll tree when branch was still an egg & their dad was a total d!ck so he didn’t really care, not long after he left jd to look after all his brothers and then like probably a week later branch hatched
speaking of their mum, jd was a total mummy’s boy idc
it wasn’t until branch was about four months old that they moved in with rosiepuff so she could help out
bruce was in a musical (iykyk)
john dory can play the guitar
clay reads before he goes to bed and won’t until he’s read at least 50 pages
bruce is the type of guy to tell everyone they can’t eat their food until he’s taken pictures of it if they’re at a restaurant that isn’t his. it always ends in bruce scolding them as they all get tired of waiting and start eating
clay has an insane amount of sweater rompers
floyd subconsciously sings to himself when he’s anxious- it’s something he picked up when in the diamond while velvet & veneer had him captive
the goggles & glove are a comfort thing for jd
clay can beatbox but he doesn’t like doing it because “it’s not serious”
john dory and branch are always in sync one way or another and they don’t even realise it half the time
jd really wants kids but is worried he’ll mess that family up just like he messed his family up when brozone broke up
SORRY FOR THE LACK OF CLAY & FLOYD 😣 i’m gonna come up with some more hcs not only for them but for jd and my oc rhea (i’ll have to write abt her bc i can’t draw for shit 💔)

James Earl Jones
American actor hailed for his many classical roles whose voice became known to millions as that of Darth Vader in Star Wars
During the run of the 2011 revival of Alfred Uhry’s Driving Miss Daisy in London, with Vanessa Redgrave, the actor James Earl Jones, who has died aged 93, was presented with an honorary Oscar by Ben Kingsley, with a link from the Wyndham’s theatre to the awards ceremony in Hollywood.
Glenn Close in Los Angeles said that Jones represented the “essence of truly great acting” and Kingsley spoke of his imposing physical presence, his 1,000-kilowatt smile, his basso profundo voice and his great stillness. Jones’s voice was known to millions as that of Darth Vader in the original Star Wars film trilogy and Mufasa in the 1994 Disney animation The Lion King, as well as being the signature sound of US TV news (“This is CNN”) for many years.
His status as the leading black actor of his generation was established with the Tony award he won in 1969 for his performance as the boxer Jack Jefferson (a fictional version of Jack Johnson) in Howard Sackler’s The Great White Hope on Broadway, a role he repeated in Martin Ritt’s 1970 film, and which earned him an Oscar nomination.
On screen, Jones – as the fictional Douglass Dilman – played the first African-American president, in Joseph Sargent’s 1972 movie The Man, based on an Irving Wallace novel. His stage career was notable for encompassing great roles in the classical repertoire, such as King Lear, Othello, Hickey in Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh and Big Daddy in Tennessee Williams’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
He was born in Arkabutla, Mississippi, the son of Robert Earl Jones, a minor actor, boxer, butler and chauffeur, and his wife Ruth (nee Connolly), a teacher, and was proud of claiming African and Irish ancestry. His father left home soon after he was born, and he was raised on a farm in Jackson, Michigan, by his maternal grandparents, John and Maggie Connolly. He spoke with a stutter, a problem he dealt with at Brown’s school in Brethren, Michigan, by reading poetry aloud.
On graduating from the University of Michigan, he served as a US Army Ranger in the Korean war. He began working as an actor and stage manager at the Ramsdell theatre in Manistee, Michigan, where he played his first Othello in 1955, an indication perhaps of his early power and presence.
The family had moved from the deep south to Michigan to find work, and now Jones went to New York to join his father in the theatre and to study at the American Theatre Wing with Lee Strasberg. He made his Broadway debut at the Cort theatre in 1958 in Dory Schary’s Sunrise at Campobello, a play about Franklin D Roosevelt.
He was soon a cornerstone of Joseph Papp’s New York Shakespeare festival in Central Park, playing Caliban in The Tempest, Macduff in Macbeth and another Othello in the 1964 season. He also established a foothold in films, as Lt Lothar Zogg in Stanley Kubrick’s Dr Strangelove (1963), a cold war satire in which Peter Sellers shone with brilliance in three separate roles.
The Great White Hope came to the Alvin theatre in New York from the Arena Stage in Washington, where Jones first unleashed his shattering, shaven-headed performance – he was described as chuckling like thunder, beating his chest and rolling his eyes – in a production by Edwin Sherin that exposed racism in the fight game at the very time of Muhammad Ali’s suspension from the ring on the grounds of his refusal to sign up for military service in the Vietnam war.
Lorraine Hansberry’s Les Blancs (1970) was a response to Jean Genet’s The Blacks, in which Jones, who remained much more of an off-Broadway fixture than a Broadway star in this period, despite his eminence, played a westernised urban African man returning to his village for his father’s funeral. With Papp’s Public theatre, he featured in an all-black version of The Cherry Orchard in 1972, following with John Steinbeck’s Lennie in Of Mice and Men on Broadway and returning to Central Park as a stately King Lear in 1974.
When he played Paul Robeson on Broadway in the 1977-78 season, there was a kerfuffle over alleged misrepresentations in Robeson’s life, but Jones was supported in a letter to the newspapers signed by Edward Albee, Stephen Sondheim, Arthur Miller, Lillian Hellman and Richard Rodgers. He played his final Othello on Broadway in 1982, partnered by Christopher Plummer as Iago, and appeared in the same year in Master Harold and the Boys by Athol Fugard, a white South African playwright he often championed in New York.
In August Wilson’s Fences (1987), part of that writer’s cycle of the century “black experience” plays, he was described as an erupting volcano as a Pittsburgh garbage collector who had lost his dreams of a football career and was too old to play once the major leagues admitted black players. His character, Troy Maxson, is a classic of the modern repertoire, confined in a world of 1950s racism, and has since been played by Denzel Washington and Lenny Henry.
Jones’s film career was solid if not spectacular. Playing Sheikh Abdul, he joined a roll call of British comedy stars – Terry-Thomas, Irene Handl, Roy Kinnear, Spike Milligan and Peter Ustinov – in Marty Feldman’s The Last Remake of Beau Geste (1977), in stark contrast to his (at first uncredited) Malcolm X in Ali’s own biopic, The Greatest (1977), with a screenplay by Ring Lardner. He also appeared in Peter Masterson’s Convicts (1991), a civil war drama; Jon Amiel’s Sommersby (1993), with Richard Gere and Jodie Foster; and Darrell Roodt’s Cry, the Beloved Country (1995), scripted by Ronald Harwood, in which he played a black South African pastor in conflict with his white landowning neighbour in the 40s.
In all these performances, Jones quietly carried his nation’s history on his shoulders. On stage, this sense could irradiate a performance such as that in his partnership with Leslie Uggams in the 2005 Broadway revival at the Cort of Ernest Thompson’s elegiac On Golden Pond; he and Uggams reinvented the film performances of Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn as an old couple in a Maine summer house.
He brought his Broadway Big Daddy in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof to London in 2009, playing an electrifying scene with Adrian Lester as his broken sports star son, Brick, at the Novello theatre. The coarse, cancer-ridden big plantation owner was transformed into a rumbling, bear-like figure with a totally unexpected streak of benignity perhaps not entirely suited to the character. But that old voice still rolled through the stalls like a mellow mist, rich as molasses.
That benign streak paid off handsomely, though, in the London reprise of a deeply sentimental Broadway comedy (and Hollywood movie), Driving Miss Daisy, in which his partnership as a chauffeur to Redgrave (unlikely casting as a wealthy southern US Jewish widow, though she got the scantiness down to a tee) was a delightful two-step around the evolving issues of racial tension between 1948 and 1973.
So deep was this bond with Redgrave that he returned to London for a third time in 2013 to play Benedick to her Beatrice in Mark Rylance’s controversial Old Vic production of Much Ado About Nothing, the middle-aged banter of the romantically at-odds couple transformed into wistful, nostalgia for seniors.
His last appearance on Broadway was in a 2015 revival of DL Coburn’s The Gin Game, opposite Cicely Tyson. He was given a lifetime achievement Tony award in 2017, and the Cort theatre was renamed the James Earl Jones theatre in 2022.
Jones’s first marriage, to Julienne Marie (1968-72), ended in divorce. In 1982 he married Cecilia Hart with whom he had a son, Flynn. She died in 2016. He is survived by Flynn, also an actor, and a brother, Matthew.
🔔 James Earl Jones, actor, born 17 January 1931; died 9 September 2024

Summaries:
Red Son is a prince. Which means that he can break curses that can only be undone by kisses from royalty. But it's weird that the Dragon Girl and Noodle Boy keep getting cursed like that...
AU: Red Son, the son of a poor noble family, is ordered by King Long to marry his daughter, her dragon heritage twisted and malformed to make her into a hideous monster. She demands a wedding, but three princes have already been eaten.
AU: One day, Prince Red Son loses a tool in a deep woods. A monkey offers to find it for him...if Red agrees to let him live with him in the palace.
Shermie always knew Stan was Stanford and kept it a secret for him because he honestly preferred Stan over Ford.
AU: Brozone is brought together at the request of Poppy King in order to play at her wedding reception as sort of a band reunion. Yes, it’s awkward with all of them having their own lives now- John Dory having lived out in the woods of the Rockies for decades, Bruce having a family in Hawaii, Clay being Viva’s best friend and co-owner of her golf course, Floyd trying to train the teenage wannabe stars Velvet and Veneer as their manager and BB nowhere to be found- but the last three are excited to reunite and play together, see their old haunts, plus its good money. Shame Poppy couldn’t find Baby Branch in her internet stalking to find them… Until he walks into the meeting to discuss the playlist as Poppy’s groom.
AU where Macaque hears Wukong has a successor, something that's gonna be announced soon, takes one look at this new monkey kid, and goes "My kid now."
A fic where it seems that Spicynoodles and their children are having dinner. Just a cute, fluffy family fic. Of course nothing's off! Everything is fine! Red is with his family. Dark Red.
Azure Lion is sent to investigate a thief and finds a beautiful king instead. In a rare burst of instinct, Sun Wukong is courtnapped and taken to Heaven.
Sabine and PIF are sisters and the Dupain-Chengs (plus Alya) are invited to Spicynoodles' wedding to mend bridges. Much confusion from Marinette and Tom (who assumed that Sabine was from a mafia family, not a runaway goddess family).
Lila Rossi has a history of issues, including a lawsuit by Long Xiaojiao for stalking and harassment. When Lila reappears on the Ladyblog, Xiaojiao decides to step in and help the poor kid running the blog before Lila tries the same stuff. Kinda inspired by the Ali section in this.

Trolls - Burning Branches au - World building Bits
Okay so this is basically little head canons and worldbuilding that I've been thinking over for the AU and I need to write them down somewhere.
Char = Branch as always
Thrash was a well traveled King who had appreciation for other tribes and wanted unity and peace but he never reached out out of fear. But its the reason he so easily accepts Char as his son.
Music can naturally be a weapon, but only the Funk and Rock trolls have really explored the concept.
The "perfect Family Harmony" is one of these musical weapons, and Peppy was the one who asked John Dory to complete the feat to save themselves from the Bergens.
Said Request is the reason behind, John pushed so hard (in addition to his own trauma reaction and OCD), and had Branch on stage as a literal infant.
The First ruler of the Pop Trolls was a Queen named "Madonna"
The first ruler of the Rock Trolls was a king named "Ozzy"
The Rock national anthem is "We will Rock you"
Thrash would sing "Halleluiah" to his kids as a lullaby
There are sub-cultures of Rock trolls, ranging from Heavy Metal to Classic Rock to Indie Rock
The Pop trolls' population was depleted from a vast empire to a small village, changing the connection between the populace and the Royal family. Making the two interact together on a daily causal basis
Other Tribes, such as Rock, Classical, Techno and Funk have a little more distance between the Royal family and Populace due to their vast numbers. Country Trolls are like Pop, small numbers in small closely knit settlements
The Rock Trolls have an advance education system (this is practically fact since, Riff claimed he was getting college credit for taking over the world in TWT, implying he's a student)
Char and Barb are spice-heads
Poppy always takes a sip from Char's cup
Floyd also went back to the Troll tree after it was abandoned and ended up finding a letter from Branch that said he was leaving the tree to find his brothers because everyone is mean to him after grandma died, and has breakdown that ends up with Floyd going grey.
The Doctor that Thrash trusts with Char as a child is named, Dr. Feelgood
Pop trolls have muscles in their scalp that help with Hair control, to swing between tree branches.
Rock trolls have tougher hands, feet and skin to protect themselves from the heat of a volcanic land they live in.
Rock rulers are coronated in the ashes of the Volcano by the religious leader that they call, the Black Sabbath
Rock music shifted more over to rage after the tribes split, creating the sub-culture of Heavy Metal
Char wears eye-liner to blend in with the Rock trolls better.
Clay is constantly begging Char to let him tinker with his guitar
And that's all I have right now...

How do you think the BroZone Reunion would work in a Classical Branch AU?
Hmmm so I imagine that post-World Tour his name was still mentioned so John Dory still finds out the same way.
His full name was said and he was also said to be 'Trollzart's son' but John Dory tuned ALL of that out. All he heard was 'Branch' and he went running.
I think Poppy would have invited Branch to the wedding, explaining that Bergens were happy now. I think he would have met Bridget and Gristle when the other tribes went to Pop Village and while he really doesn't care for them, he can appreciate that Bridget seems to genuinely care about the safety of Trolls. Branch offered to teach Bridget some etiquette that would be useful to her as queen. There was brief talk of him composing the wedding march, but he passed that work onto Poppy as he quickly realized Bridget was more interested in a more Pop Troll approach to the ambience.
Bridget really liked Branch, and Gristle likes him in the same way you like a kitten on the internet dressed in a little tuxedo. He thinks Branch is a 'distinguished gentleman' the same way I think my elderly cat who sits ungracefully is 'a little lady'. He thinks he's a funny little guy and he likes that Branch actually treats him like he's a respectable king and refers to him only as 'Your majesty'. Because of this, Branch was in the wedding party and he accepted because that's the Classical way.
JD's meeting with Branch goes somewhat the same way simply because JD didn't let Branch get much in edgewise. He came in, made a scene and Branch was mostly reactionary.
The 'junk in the trunk' was met with a glove slap to the face and Dante laying on his travel fainting couch.
When he finally stopped to actually pay attention to how Branch was dressed/talking he spent most of the time telling Branch to 'knock off the hoity toity act and talk normally' or making fun of him.
Bruce similarly steamrolls a lot over Branch and teases him, but starts to slowly piece together that it's maybe not an act.
Clay assumes at first Branch is trying to do a bit and insists that 'Fun Clay is dead' so knock it off, but when Branch continues on regardless Clay starts trying to test him and is surprised that not only is it legit, but he's way more serious than him. I imagine Clay does or says something and Branch reacts in a sort of 'Ah, that's a bit too childish for me but you do you, as they say.' and Clay has a knee-jerk reaction because how is he still the fun one to Branch? How is Branch way more serious than him?
Floyd doesn't recognize Branch at first, and sadly doesn't give much of a reaction due to the fact he's dying. The way home though he's trying to keep an open mind and asking what brought about the change. When he hears about Trollzart he asks Branch more about him and is really the only brother to at no point tell Branch to 'knock it off'.

What if Branch went to one of his brothers after having a nightmare (maybe a side effect of the drug) Like he’s full blown sobbing and shaking just trying to look for anyone. He’ll like wake them up and just be standing by a room entrance trembling (maybe the nightmare was of his brothers leaving or Rosipuff’s death maybe both) How would they react?
floyd The first time it happened to him, he was sleeping next to Branch, so it was easy for Floyd to realize that Branch was having a nightmare, Branch was already awake, just looking at Floyd with the biggest eyes Floyd had ever seen, Branch was terrified, he was shaking like a leaf in the wind, so Floyd hugged him when he saw that Branch wouldn't move, he held him until he heard him crying harder, shaking more and snuggling against Floyd; begging him not to abandon him again.
Bruce He has been through this many times, so he has a sixth sense to know when someone is watching him sleep, one of his sons is like a ninja and he just stands there waiting in the dark, Branch is the same, he is alone there. sitting at the entrance to Bruce's room watching him sleep, debating whether to wake him up or not, Bruce just sits up and uncovers part of his bed so that Branch can lie down next to him, Branch does it slowly and becomes a little closer to his side, Bruce surrounds him like a shield, and lets Branch cry himself to sleep, he won't force him to talk about the nightmare afterwards, he just wants him to feel safe.
Clay When it happens to him, he usually does many different things, although one of the most common is to get up, because he hears his door opening, so he gets up and sometimes he scares Branch when he does that, he takes Branch's hand and takes him to the kitchen. , prepares some hot milk for both of them and they stay there on the couch, Branch lays his head on Clay's shoulder and Clay reads him one of the children's stories, one of Branch's favorites, and they usually fall asleep there himself. the couch.
John Dory
The first time he happened to him, he almost had a heart attack, Branch was standing next to his bed, well more like he was sitting next to his bed, curled up just watching John sleep.
John gave him away because he was scared, but then as if nothing had happened, he picked up Branch on his lap and started rocking him. He had done this hundreds of times before, maybe Branch wouldn't like it once he was less scared, but for now, it's been a while. The only thing he knows to squid is his baby brother.
so he lays Branch on his lap and rocks him like a baby and sings to him, they stay like that for what is 1 or 2 hours, he has sung him many lullabies at this point, John is tired and his back is killing him , but now Branch is asleep, just like a baby, in fact he can see Branch sucking his finger, curled up like a little bean against him, so he lies down with his little brother against his chest and spends the rest of the night catching up on sleep.
