Prompt 22 - Grief/Mourning

Sirius came into their dorm room sobbing his eyes out.

“Moony, Prongs, something terrible’s happened!” His face was red and blotchy. Remus had never seen him so upset. He was cradling something furry in his hand. It took Remus a second to figure out what it was. It was a brown rat. 

“Lily’s cat was chasing him. I tried to rescue him but-but-but, I was too late,” Sirius wailed. 

“Oh, shit!” James gasped from across the room. 

“What are you on about, Sirius?” Remus questioned him, not quite understanding why Sirius was so upset. 

“It’s Wormtail!” He cried, holding up the limp rat. He sobbed harder, letting James hold him and cry alongside him. Remus bit his tongue to keep the sarcastic comments contained. 

“He was the most amazing friend,” James stated sadly. “He was always there when you needed to talk and, while he was small, when he transformed, I will never forget the time he snuck up behind Mrs Norris and bit her tail so we could get away before Filch caught us.”

“I-I-I remember how sweet he was when Moony and I started going out, and he bought us all that chocolate and butterbeer. I don’t even know how he carried it all. He was the best of us!” Remus sighed through his nose and resisted a facepalm. 

Just then, Peter walked in, saving Remus from having to explain that if the rat had been Peter it would have transformed back when Clawd got hold of him.

“Why are they crying?” Peter asked, eyeing the rat in Sirius’s hands. 

“They think that’s you,” Remus explained, rolling his eyes. 

“Oh Peter,” James patted the poor lifeless rat. 

“Guys, I’m right here,” Peter groaned.

“I can still hear his voice!” Sirius leaned into James’s chest. 

“Wait, me too,” James said, confused. 

“Idiots,” Peter tutted. 

Sirius and James spun around. 

“Peter?” They said together. “PETER!” The rat fell from Sirius's hand, and they jumped on Peter. 

“Hey, get off, you nutters!” Peter yelped as they squashed him onto Remus's bed. Remus stooped and picked up the rat Sirius had dropped. 

“Well, I think after all that this little guy deserves a proper burial,” Remus declared and grabbed Sirius’s arm, hauling him off Peter. “Come on Prongs, Wormtail, this requires all of us. 

They dug a little hole in front of the whomping willow and laid the rat to rest. “You picked the wrong dorm little rat. I’m sorry your life was cut short, and I guess we'll never know why you were all the way up at the top of Gryffindor Tower. Rest in peace little buddy.” Remus used his wand to fill in the grave, and they all stood quietly and stared at it.

“Glad it wasn’t you Wormy,” Sirius said, clapping Peter on the back.

“Er, thanks,” Peter huffed out a laugh. Remus burst out laughing, which set them all off. 

“Merlin, I love you,” Remus kissed the top of Sirius’s head, and they walked back up to the castle to relax before dinner.

Someone said monster high x batman, so here's some nonspecific memes for an au I'll probably never write

My biggest issue with Monster High is how often you get slabs of plastic accessories that are unpainted put on dolls, and you get these large islands of colour that flatten out the look of the doll overall. And it was done at great detriment to this Howliday set because the accessory detailing is a return to form for Monster High.

In particular, I wanted Draculaura to be accented in gold since she's in a set with Clawd, as well as the fact she rarely gets put in gold otherwise, so I thought this would be cute.

It's just small details, but I think it elevates the whole set.

The parasol was probably the worst offender as it was this large bulky piece in really garish colours. I opted to do a black wash to bring out the top details, with touches of gold to highlight the hearts. The handle was a bad shade of pink, so I painted it in gold to stand out amongst the dark hair and clipped it on Draculaura's stand.

I do think MH has been suffering this drift towards making cartoonishly silly style shoes where it's just an object as a heel or making something so character-specific that it veers into weird divorced from reality concepts.

But I really like Draculaura's pieces. All feel a lot more grounded in a reality where her heels feel like a gothy pair of shoes with bat details and some subtle swirls and designs embossed in. A few Monster details, but they still grounded enough to look like actual shoes.

With Clawd's shoes, I just opted for a gold dry brush and then afterwards filled in the crescent moons with black again, as I feel like if these were real shoes, the moons would be a stretchy matte material.

I also went over Draculaura's headpiece with gold dry brushing because I think it was very silly to make a black head accessory for a character with black hair without adding some contrast there.

I also decided to paint her bat earrings gold but dry brushed the red coffins to emphasise the detail and add contrast against her hair. It was tempting to paint the bats black, but they got so lost against the hair.

While I liked the idea of the flowers and their box, it's so big and bulky that I find it really hard to pose with the dolls. I forgot to photograph it before I painted it.

With it, I went over the spider motifs with black, painted the bow red to match the colour scheme and then stuffed it with tissue paper to contrast with the roses. For the roses, I painted the stems green and dry brushed the roses with gold to give the tips some detail.

Welcome one and all, to the most ambitious tournament probably so far (that is to say, I chose way too many characters but in my defense I had found a blank template for a smash bros character roster thing and wanted to fill the whole thing up, even if I had to turn to the dark side to do so for one or two picks): The 2023 Himboff!

Round 1 Part 1 will begin on Friday, hopefully giving everyone enough time to prepare themselves for battle (I describe this as if it's a war and not a tumblr pollnament-).

If Monster High was doing Romeo and Juliet...

There would be like, Drama in the drama. Like, seriously, have you ever seen an episode of Monster High where all is just peaceful or in harmony with the hallway ? Is Shakespeare a dignified tea party also ? What can POSSIBLY GO WRONG with Monster High and Shakespeare blended together ? Poor Mr. Where, he's like, the only responsible adult in this whole mess, and not for too long....

MAIN ROLES

Juliet Capulet - Draculaura. She was the first to apply for the project, so Mr. Where give her the role of Juliet ! She ALREADY played Juliet, of course, but she promised to Clawd that she will be the one to schedule they're next romantic date.... And you ask, ''but, he know right ?''.... ha ha.... No.

Romeo Montague - Clawd Wolf. You know, there is some darkest hours in you're relationship's status, a time when you need to partake into the strange fantaisies of you're loved one. Clawd love Draculaura, but he know that he is going to die very soon, truly a true Romeo move.

Juliet Capulet (Second Part) - Kieran Valentine. This was part of his therapy, okay ?

Romeo Montague (Second Part) - Spelldon Cauldronello. Mother Circe recently taught him Divination. And he know there will be, like, real Drama. He's here for that... And for Kieran Valentine's booty.

ROLES OF CHAOTIC ALIGNEMENT

Rosaline - Abbey Bominable. Mr. Where say that she will not speak, and she don't want to waste oxygen on such silly things or being the romantic playground of a ''Shakespeare'' somebody... Rosaline is her spirit animal.

The Nurse - Clawdeen Wolf. It's possible that she want some claws on the matter with Draculaura and her brother. It"s seems to be closely related to some weird family-teenage matters, or just a upcoming prediction of Clawd's difficult encounter with theater...

Capulet (Patriarch) - Bram Devein. A weird Belfry Prep thing about being the masters of something.... But there is a problem, he didn't read the end of the play.

Montague (Patriarch) - Romulus. A weird Crescent Moon High's habit about having a eye on Belfry Prep.... But there is a problem, he didn't read the end of the play.

Prince(ss) Escalus - Amanita Nightshade wanted the best role, because Amanita can't end or be loved by only one, she is too bootiful for that ! So she wanted to be THE PRINCESS. And she was merciful, she only changed the gender, not the name ! Now, Mr. Where is praying that she don't want anything MORE.

Count Paris - Catrine DeMew. She wanted to explore some ''orientation theories'' by playing a potential suitor and viewing the effect between ''role and gender''. Mr. Where didn't ask anything about this.

Mercutio - Purrsephone. Apparently there is some minor conflicts between her and her twin, so she is her for the catharsis.

Tybalt - Meowlody. Apparently there is some minor conflicts between her and her twin, so she is her for the catharsis.

Lady Capulet - Heaths Burns.... This was that or detention and a word for the parent. He choose the first because he didn't want to lose his new Gamegore yet. But Mr. Where is seriously asking himself if this is a good idea....

Lady Montague - Gigi Grant. She just want to experience Theater, so a little role is best. Hope she will have a first good impression...

Benvolio - Toralei Stripes. This time, no mischief.... She just want to see the dynamics between the twins.

Balthasar - Ghoulia Yelps. She want to experience a new hypothetical mechanic for zombie's language on stage ! Mr. Where didn't have his word about that, because Mr. Rotter is the one whose class is concerned about the project.

Peter - Manny Taur didn't read anything about Romeo and Juliet, but this is his last chance to prove to Iris that he is a sentimental Monster.... He just hope is character is one of those who die.

Friar Laurence - Jackson Jeckyll. Well... This everyone's hope at least.

Abram and Friar John - Quill Tarantyno. Because hey, Backgrounders need love, too !

Gregory and Sampson - Astranova and Djinni Whisp Grant. Astranova is there for the experience, Djinni is just there because she know there will be some deep gay vibes between Spelldon and Kieran, and she don't want to lose or miss is bet with Casta.

Other Roles - You know, these benevolent souls are actually part of the few one who actually care about Shakespeare. But, Alas, with all the chaos that will probably occur very soon, I doubt that they will be recognized for such passion and bravery.... And there is no enough budget for backgrounders.

OTHERS

Technician and special effects - Invisi Billy, who is probably the secret nephew or blood-relative of the teacher at this point.

Prompter (aka. the litteral ghoul that save you're ass when you don't know you're text) - Scarah Screams. She will be so valuable for all that is going to happens.... Or maybe Invisi Billy will be too much of a distraction.

I've been frantically searching for a G2 Clawd Wolf doll as he has a bigger body than the G1 male body. However, because he has been so obscure to find at the price I wanna pay, I just wanted to start working on him so I used this Scarnival Clawd head that had pieces of his flock missing.

I rerooted him in a blend of warm red and brown saran from @customdollhairAU as it matched my G1 Clawdeen's hair blend.

I decided to fully root his sideburns as well as his hair because of how bushy the animated version of him looks, and I think it brings him closer to his Wolfman inspiration.

I'm really chuffed how well he turned out as he's one of my favourite Monster High characters from the show and I'm really happy to finally scratch that design itch.
