¡Felices 90, Discos Fuentes!

'In the 1970s, Cartagena singer Joe Arroyo was one of the greatest salsa entertainers in Colombia. A man known to be proud of his African roots, Arroyo would go on to author one of the most iconic songs emblematic of Black love and resistance, 'La Rebelion.' He opens with, 'I want to tell you, my Brother, a little piece of Black history,' and sings the story of a slave revolt that championed protecting Black women. He had all of Latin America singing the refrain, 'No le pegue a la negra' which translates to, 'Don't hit the Black woman.'
The classic salsa song which is set in 1600s Colombia rebukes the violence against enslaved Africans and re-lives an overlooked history of South America's largest slave trading port in Cartagena.
'Un matrimonio africano, esclavos de un español.' Arroyo introduces a married enslaved couple, whose young wife is being mistreated and physically abused by their Spanish captors. The heart of this song is in the depiction of a black man who, as captive, will endure abuse, hard labor, famine, humiliation and even death before he lets anyone - let alone a colonizer - put hands on the woman he loves.'

Mat
- esosa!gregory debut! also matt!may, makai!romeo, megan!angelique, phil!lucy, jas!helena, ava!rosaline and joe!richard
- from where I was sitting for act 1 I got to witness a really cool visual of phil from the back kneeling and looking up at makai when he was sitting on the tomb
- joe and esosa running off together holding hands after the soliloquy
- philippe did finger guns to matt on “I just like kissing you” and then immediately took off his glasses and put his head in his hands in embarrassment
- esosa adding a “what…” before “do you mean romeo montage”
- jas said “did my heart love til now” in a way I have never heard them do before
- daniel and esosa got EXTREMELY close to kissing during the henry and gregory moment in KAG
- paulo did a full down-on-one-knee kneel on “if you want it, take it”
- megan was very smiley during teenage dream
- philippe did two thumbs up and then down at some point during the scene when he’s in the armor
- joe going “period!” in reaction to “and you’re not invited!”
- joe catching the towel for the first time
- najah going “you’re a genius” to drew during romeo’s entrance
- with phil!lucy dancing with joomin!kempe, there were more queer couples than straight couples at the wedding
- philippe skipping to go get on the table during confident
- jas as helena! finally got to see it she was great
- drew turning “to be with romeo” into a “to be or not to be” joke by going “to be… with romeo”
- obsessed with the sharpe KAG costume. adding it to the cosplan list
- there was a small child sitting next to me and during the second KAG kiss they went “again?” in a confused but excited way
- drew bringing back the “alas poor yorick” pose for “am I original?”

- jas!helena was great during the mat but they one upped it at the eve holy shit
- philippe didn’t do a fall when maya pushed him off the bench
- maya stopped doing the thing where she points the dagger towards herself
- joe massaging bobby’s head and daniel massaging his shoulders during SUBG
- when they’re hanging out by the jukebox during SUBG, daniel took two bottles and clinked them with bobby’s bottle in a silly way and it made him laugh
- seeing drew take off his hat and makai take off his jacket and put them in a box while they were behind the painting
- bobby doing the “star crossed lovers what” mimic with virgil
- bobby taking a selfie with the camera at the end of SML
- makai going 🤫 to megan when grabbing the hat
- makai singing “I never knew that you could mean so much” instead of “I never knew that it could mean so much”
- joe grabbing bobby’s hand and squeezing it as he walked past them during the finale
- bobby high fiving everyone EXCEPT andrew after his solo (he very much skipped him on purpose and wasn’t even subtle about it)
- philippe quietly going “okie.” after lance’s line as he’s leaving the stage after oops
- something that made my heart drop was when the stage manager came onstage during intermission to make an announcement that turned out to be that there was a mix up with the understudy slips so some said matt!may and esosa!gregory instead of michael!may and matt!gregory so it was just a clarification on that
- when bobby walked past phil to go sit down during BOMT he reached his hand out to them and squeezed their hand

joel miller x fem/ wife reader
I Love You
Joel Miller trudged up the gravel driveway of his modest suburban home, the weight of the day's labor evident in his weary steps. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden hue over the neighborhood, and Joel paused for a moment to appreciate the peacefulness that settled with the evening. He ran a calloused hand through his dark hair, his mind already beginning to relax as he approached the front door.
As he stepped inside, he was immediately greeted by the lively sound of “En Barranquilla Me Quedo” by joe arroyo filling the air. A smile tugged at the corners of his lips. The familiar rhythms of the guitar and the passionate voice of the singer created a warm, inviting atmosphere. The rhythmic beats of salsa resonated throughout the house, mingling with the scent of a home-cooked meal. the vibrant music lifting the weight of the day from his shoulders.
Following the music, Joel walked into the living room and found his wife, Y/N, and their young daughter, Sarah, dancing together. Y/N’s hips swayed gracefully to the music, her movements fluid and full of joy. Sarah, though still learning, mirrored her mother’s steps with a mix of concentration and delight.
Y/N caught sight of Joel standing in the doorway and smiled warmly at him, her eyes sparkling with love. "Hey there, handsome," she called out, her voice a melodic contrast to the lively music. "Care to join us?"
Joel chuckled, shaking his head. "I think I'll leave the dancing to you two pros."
Sarah giggled, her laughter infectious as she twirled under her mother’s arm. "Come on, Daddy! It's fun!" she urged, her eyes bright with excitement.
Joel couldn't resist the appeal in his daughter’s voice. With a playful sigh, he stepped forward, joining them in the center of the room. Y/N took his hand, guiding him into the rhythm of the music. He was a bit clumsy at first, but Y/N’s laughter and Sarah’s encouragement made it easy to relax and enjoy the moment.
As the song played on, Joel found his groove, moving with a surprising grace. Y/N spun Sarah around, her little feet barely touching the ground as she laughed in pure delight. The room was filled with the sounds of their happiness, a symphony of laughter and music that drowned out any worries.
Joel’s eyes met Y/N’s, and for a moment, they were lost in each other. The love they shared was evident in every glance, every touch. It was moments like these that reminded Joel of how lucky he was to have such a beautiful family.
The song came to an end, and they all paused, catching their breath. Y/N pulled Joel and Sarah into a tight embrace, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears of joy. "I love you both so much," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion.
"We love you too, Mommy," Sarah said, hugging her mother tightly.
Joel kissed the top of Y/N’s head, his heart swelling with affection. "You two are my everything," he murmured, holding his family close.
As another song began to play, Joel found himself caught up in the magic of the moment. He knew that life was unpredictable and that challenges would come, but with Y/N and Sarah by his side, he felt ready to face anything. Together, they danced, their hearts beating in time with the music, united in their love and the simple joy of being together. He could hear the unmistakable sound of his wife, Y/N, singing along, her voice harmonizing beautifully with the music.
