& Juliet 8/31/24 Notes (Bobby’s Last Shows)

Mat

- esosa!gregory debut! also matt!may, makai!romeo, megan!angelique, phil!lucy, jas!helena, ava!rosaline and joe!richard

- from where I was sitting for act 1 I got to witness a really cool visual of phil from the back kneeling and looking up at makai when he was sitting on the tomb

- joe and esosa running off together holding hands after the soliloquy

- philippe did finger guns to matt on “I just like kissing you” and then immediately took off his glasses and put his head in his hands in embarrassment

- esosa adding a “what…” before “do you mean romeo montage”

- jas said “did my heart love til now” in a way I have never heard them do before

- daniel and esosa got EXTREMELY close to kissing during the henry and gregory moment in KAG

- paulo did a full down-on-one-knee kneel on “if you want it, take it”

- megan was very smiley during teenage dream

- philippe did two thumbs up and then down at some point during the scene when he’s in the armor

- joe going “period!” in reaction to “and you’re not invited!”

- joe catching the towel for the first time

- najah going “you’re a genius” to drew during romeo’s entrance

- with phil!lucy dancing with joomin!kempe, there were more queer couples than straight couples at the wedding

- philippe skipping to go get on the table during confident

- jas as helena! finally got to see it she was great

- drew turning “to be with romeo” into a “to be or not to be” joke by going “to be… with romeo”

- obsessed with the sharpe KAG costume. adding it to the cosplan list

- there was a small child sitting next to me and during the second KAG kiss they went “again?” in a confused but excited way

- drew bringing back the “alas poor yorick” pose for “am I original?”

- matt did an absolutely beautiful opt up at the end of NAG

Eve (Bobby’s last show)

- same cast except michael!may and matt!gregory

- very loud cheers for bobby when he walked onstage

- bobby got a standing ovation after the rumour solo

- phil going “didn’t know he had a WIFE”

- philippe did the “innocent” riff again!

- philippe repeated the phrase “I don’t know” like 5 times before finishing the line of “I’m not really into drama or like big public performances”

- jas!helena was great during the mat but they one upped it at the eve holy shit

- philippe didn’t do a fall when maya pushed him off the bench

- maya stopped doing the thing where she points the dagger towards herself

- joe massaging bobby’s head and daniel massaging his shoulders during SUBG

- when they’re hanging out by the jukebox during SUBG, daniel took two bottles and clinked them with bobby’s bottle in a silly way and it made him laugh

- seeing drew take off his hat and makai take off his jacket and put them in a box while they were behind the painting

- bobby doing the “star crossed lovers what” mimic with virgil

- bobby taking a selfie with the camera at the end of SML

- makai going 🤫 to megan when grabbing the hat

- makai singing “I never knew that you could mean so much” instead of “I never knew that it could mean so much”

- joe grabbing bobby’s hand and squeezing it as he walked past them during the finale

- bobby high fiving everyone EXCEPT andrew after his solo (he very much skipped him on purpose and wasn’t even subtle about it)

- philippe quietly going “okie.” after lance’s line as he’s leaving the stage after oops

- something that made my heart drop was when the stage manager came onstage during intermission to make an announcement that turned out to be that there was a mix up with the understudy slips so some said matt!may and esosa!gregory instead of michael!may and matt!gregory so it was just a clarification on that

- when bobby walked past phil to go sit down during BOMT he reached his hand out to them and squeezed their hand

and now bobby has announced they're leaving & juliet at the end of the month 😭 i'll miss them so month

The first time I saw & Juliet, I couldn’t take my eyes off the really cool dancer with the shaved head. Since then I’ve loved watching Bobby absolutely steal the show in every scene they’re in. It has been an honor to get to know him and see him perform over these past 2 years.

It wasn’t until I saw them in & Juliet that I realized that there really was a space for me as a trans masc person on Broadway. He has shown me that someone like me can do something like that. If that’s how I feel about having had Bobby on Broadway as an adult, I can’t even begin to imagine what him being in the show has meant to trans kids. Representation really matters.

I’m really gonna miss having him in this show. & Juliet is so special to me and they are such a special part of it. I’ve gone on for longer than I’ve meant to in this post, I’m just weirdly emotional about them leaving. But I hope to continue to follow his journey as a performer into whatever great things I know he will do next! 🧡🧡🧡

& Juliet 7/31/24 Notes

- this is all out of order and also today was 3 lead swings with dan!romeo, makai!frankie, and najah!juliet

- najah did a hand motion like she was showing off the words when she said “juliet” and “romeo” and then dan mimicked her when he said “sorry, why is it juliet & romeo and not romeo & juliet”

- the chemistry between dan and najah during OMT gave me chills

- there were tears running down dan’s face at the end of OMT

- NAJAH RIFFS ARE INSANE

- during the preshow khailah asking how we are and we just made sad noises and she nodded

- joomin and bobby were playing a game during SML that was essentially just them trying to get the other person to break (tickling each other’s hand, doing a peace sign, bobby pretending their hand was a phone, etc)

- mrankie and najuliet matched each others energy well, they both do a lot of exaggerated movements and just seem to have a lot of energy

- najah looking at dan on “im not your property as from today”

- makai saying “it’s me im a freak”

- the way makai holds the armor around the waist during WWFM, it’s like he’s holding it like it’s a person

- makai is extremely dramatic with his virginal playing

- makai did a lot of running around during WWFM

- paulo looking around to make sure no one overheard before saying “I never told you this but there was a time many years ago”

- makai knocking on the armor on “it is solid iron”

- on the last “hit me baby one more time” najah did a punching motion on the word “hit”

- daniel’s “bien SIR” was like extra agressive

- najah going “sorry” after jeannette says “who you calling old?”

& Juliet 8/6/24 Notes

- philippe accidentally saying “over-pedected” during overprotected

- one of jeannette’s curls got stuck to her forehead for the entirety of the teenage dream scene and I was losing it

- betsy made me laugh so hard during confident when anne and will are watching lance and angelique meet because she made direct eye contact with me and made a silly face

- the person behind me’s watch wouldn’t stop going off during KAG

- on the second verse of overprotected, philippe hit the keys on the virginal before the music came back in so there was a loud noise as he hit it

- I could hear makai’s harmony at the beginning of SMTM really clearly

- the stage right screen glitched out slightly for a few seconds during KAG

- I made ben laugh during everybody by doing the prayer pose thing he does while being directly in his line of sight

- ben and paulo were having a full on audible conversation with each other in the scene before everybody, I did not process a single word they said

- the stage left chair for the wedding scene was in the wrong spot so austin looked at it confused and then just like kicked it into place

- jeannette saying “worshipping me and loving me” instead of “loving me and worshipping me”

- joomin made bobby break at the end of SML and then he broke too

bobby horner messaged me saying that they use the note i wrote them as a bookmark and reread the note often and thanked me for my kind words and that it means a lot 🥺💜 i almost cried. the & juliet cast is the nicest cast in the world and i LOVE them so much
