Hello! Do you have any advice on getting into freelance coding or remote jobs in the field? I'm having trouble with my current endeavors of applications and my current customer service job isn't doing me well enough to want to stay, so I'm hoping for progress sooner rather than later. Anything helps, thank you!!
Hiya 🖤
Thanks for reaching out with your question about getting into freelance coding or remote jobs. Making a transition can be challenging, but with dedication and strategic steps, you can definitely progress in your career.
Firstly, consider specializing in a specific field of computer science rather than trying to learn everything. This will help you become an expert in a niche, making you more attractive to potential clients or employers.
The big thing to look at is (1) what specific job do you want? Don't know yet? That's the first thing you need to find out. (2) Found the job you want? Go to this website "roadmap.sh" and click the job title you want and look at the roadmap to become it. (3) Have an idea of what you need to learn? Now study :)
Here are some extra key pieces of advice:
Tumblr media
Public Code Repositories
Showcase your coding skills by contributing to public repositories on platforms like GitHub, GitLab, or others. This allows potential employers to see your projects and assess your coding abilities.
Online Certifications
Earn certifications from reputable online courses like Freecodecamp, Codecademy, or SheCodes (if you're a woman). Displaying these certifications on your LinkedIn profile adds credibility for remote work or even freelance work because then clients will trust your skills more if it's back up with evidence (projects and/or certificates).
Links: "Massive List of Thousands of Free Certificates" / "The Udemy courses I use" / "FreeCodeCamp" / "Codecedemy" / "SheCodes" / "Udacity" / "Coursera" / "Google"
LinkedIn Profile
Revamp your LinkedIn profile to reflect your job title. Use a title that aligns with your dream job, and highlight your skills, certifications, and projects. You don't even need work experience OR do what a lot of my developer mates do have no work experience and set your "job" as a self-employed freelance developer... little cheat there~!
Links: "LinkedIn Career Explorer" / "Tips for speaking to/reaching out to Recruiter" / "Tips for Landing Your First Entry-Level Developer Job" / "Career Services for Web Development" / "The Talent Cloud Community: Careers Workshop"
Volunteering
Help someone out with a project for their business or whatever. For example, I helped a guy I met in a programming discord server build his portfolio page for free, but I care more about the experience. Search online for volunteer jobs with your dream job title e.g. Volunteer App Develope, but in your country would be better. The experience you can you can add to your LinkedIn. the project you work on you can add to your resume/experience.
Link: "SkilledUp Life"
Networking
Connect with professionals in your field on LinkedIn, even if you don't know them personally. Growing your network can open up opportunities and expose you to valuable insights. Events in person or online, servers (I found volunteer opportunities here), forums, Twitter (I found some mates on there), Instagram (another place I found developer friends). Networking can even help with building group projects~!
Link: "Tips for speaking to/reaching out to Recruiter"
Project Building
Work on both small and big projects to demonstrate your capabilities. Highlight these projects on your resume and portfolio.
Links: "Building projects after learning a new concept advice" / "Tips from learning using multiple resources" / "Tips on learning programming with ChatGPT" / "Harvard University Free IT Courses" / "The Udemy courses I use" / "Free Programming Books" / "Coding Advice for beginners" / "800 free Computer Science classes"
Online Presence
Share your learning progress and projects on various platforms like Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, or YouTube. Employers often appreciate candidates who actively showcase their work and commitment to learning. I made a post for Tumblr coding blogs:

Good luck!!

Ten years ago, Eliot Higgins could eat room service meals at a hotel without fear of being poisoned. He hadn’t yet been declared a foreign agent by Russia; in fact, he wasn’t even a blip on the radar of security agencies in that country or anywhere else. He was just a British guy with an unfulfilling admin job who’d been blogging under the pen name Brown Moses—after a Frank Zappa song—and was in the process of turning his blog into a full-fledged website. He was an open source intelligence analyst avant la lettre, poring over social media photos and videos and other online jetsam to investigate wartime atrocities in Libya and Syria.
In its disorganized way, the internet supplied him with so much evidence that he was beating UN investigators to their conclusions. So he figured he’d go pro. He called his website Bellingcat, after the fable of the mice that hit on a way to tell when their predator was approaching. He would be the mouse that belled the cat.
Today, Bellingcat is the world’s foremost open source intelligence agency. From his home in the UK, Higgins oversees a staff of nearly 40 employees who have used an evolving set of online forensic techniques to investigate everything from the 2014 shoot-down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over Ukraine to a 2020 dognapping to the various plots to kill Russian dissident Alexei Navalny.
Bellingcat operates as an NGO headquartered in the Netherlands but is in demand everywhere: Its staffers train newsrooms and conduct workshops; they unearth war crimes; their forensic evidence is increasingly part of court trials. When I met Higgins one Saturday in April, in a pub near his house, he’d just been to the Netherlands to collect an award honoring Bellingcat’s contributions to free speech—and was soon headed back to collect another, for peace and human rights.
Bellingcat’s trajectory tells a scathing story about the nature of truth in the 21st century. When Higgins began blogging as Brown Moses, he had no illusions about the malignancies of the internet. But along with journalists all over the world, he has discovered that the court of public opinion is broken. Hard facts have been devalued; online, everyone can present, and believe in, their own narratives, even if they’re mere tissues of lies. Along with trying to find the truth, Higgins has also been searching for places where the truth has any kind of currency and respect—where it can work as it should, empowering the weak and holding the guilty accountable.
The year ahead may be the biggest of Bellingcat’s life. In addition to tracking conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, its analysts are being flooded with falsified artifacts from elections in the US, the UK, India, and dozens of other countries. As if that weren’t enough, there’s also the specter of artificial intelligence: still too primitive to fool Bellingcat’s experts but increasingly good enough to fool everyone else. Higgins worries that governments, social media platforms, and tech companies aren’t worrying enough and that they’ll take the danger seriously only when “there’s been a big incident where AI-generated imagery causes real harm”—in other words, when it’s too late.

A bit long message so sorry!!!
I'm unemployed right now English is not my first language so idk how these places are called in English so please forgive me but I think you will get a point.
After I finished school I had to apply for job seekers. I have this "mentor" you talk to and you have a date and time you meet with her every couple of months. You have to apply for at least 4-5 jobs monthly and you have to tell her where you applied through messenger online.
You get some "job seeker allowance" when you search for jobs and if your mentor sends you somewhere you must go.
So my mentor sent me to this "workshop" idk how else to call it. It's 3 months long, it's every day Mon-Fri for 3 hours. Here they talk how to write CV and how we represent ourselves, we practice how to talk when we have job interviews and all that things.
Our ages are mixed. I'm the youngest there and we have also people in their 50s. There are 15 of us.
So my problem is this: in our group there is a man probably in his 30s. First fee days I saw him staring at me non stop. When the lady that gives us lessons talks I see him in the corner of my eye and he just stares at me for an hour... he has no interest in talking to anyone but me. He doesn't come near me if anyone else talks to me so that's good. But now after 2 weeks of being here he started doing something else.
During breaks when I go to the bathroom he follows me. I walk quickly so I don't have to talk to him. He goes near male bathroom but he doesn't go in he just waits so I come out and he tries to talk to me. Sometimes I walk quickly back so he doesn't come near me and another time I literally pretended I was on my phone and I was talking to myself like I'm talking to someone else.
Today I stood up from my chair and I wanted to go to the bathroom I saw he did the same he stood right away so he could follow me but then I decided to go just near the trash and throw away my chewing gum and I sat back on my seat and chatted with another lady. When he saw I'm not going to the bathroom he also sat back to his place. I was holding my pee till I came home because I didn't want to go to the bathroom when we finished with this group since I didn't want him to follow me towards the bathroom when others go home.
And he also started this; when we go home he quickly leave the building he goes somewhere and then he hides behind some corner so he "catches me" when I go home. I know he lives in the opposite direction because that's where he always went. Now he goes to totally different direction so he can walk with me to a bus stop. A bus stop that is 10 minutes away from this building.
I'm so uncomfortable so I was actually looking for another way to go to my bus stop and I used google maps. I'm so bad with directions even if I have google maps tbh.
You think it's just talking but... whenever he talks he only comments on how I look and how good I look (I LOOK BELOW AVERAGE BTW! So please don't think I mentioned this because I want to praise myself that I look good).
He keeps asking if I have any problems with my bf (it's like he wants me to have problems so I would leave him or something... it's just a vibe I get). My bf doesn't exist btw I had weird vibes from him so I said I have a bf. And if he was my bf he wouldn't let me go alone anywhere so I would be protected and weird shit like that.
He keep asking me where I live and he wants like an actual address.
He keel saying how I should make a fb acc so we could talk (I still have fb I just use my nickname there not real name so he can't find me)
He keeps giving hints how he wants my number.
And I always give short answers. I don't sound interested in him. And I see he's getting more and more mad since I'm not interested. So I'm also not really comfortable telling him that he's making me very uncomfortable. He's kinda strong and it's kinda scary to me since at this hour when I finish with this group people are mostly in school or at work, there are not many people on the streets if he'd lose his temper...
Others in this group come with cars or go to a different direction than me when they go home so I can't really tag along with anyone else.
So I wonder if I should say something to this lady that is in charge of this workshop?
But also I wonder if I should just... endure this to the end it's just 3 months and I just can try to avoid him for 3 months?
I don't want to look crazy or that I overreact.
Again I'm so sorry that this is so long I just wanted to make it more detailed so it makes more sense. I'm so nervous every day. And I'm so nervous to look crazy if I tell him YOU ARE MAKING ME UNCOMFORTABLE... and I'm such a introverted person who is not good with telling others to leave me alone. And if I ask this lady who is in charge of this workshop to help me tell him this I feel like I would also look like I overreact...
Please report this to the people in charge. What he's doing is stalking and harassment and completely unacceptable, and you shouldn't have to just endure it ❤️

Ditch the 9-to-5: The Ultimate Guide to Transitioning into a Successful Freelance Career
Tumblr media
The fluorescent lights hum overhead, the clock ticks agonizingly slow, and the stack of TPS reports mocks you from your desk. Is this the picture-perfect career you envisioned for yourself? If the answer is a resounding "no," and the thought of trading commutes for co-working spaces and pajamas for productivity makes your heart sing, then freelancing might be the answer you've been searching for.
But ditching the security of a traditional job and venturing into the freelance world can be daunting. Fear not, fellow adventurer! This comprehensive guide will equip you with the knowledge and strategies to navigate the transition smoothly and build a thriving freelance career.
Are You Cut Out for Freelance Life?
Freelancing isn't all sunshine and self-made schedules. It requires discipline, self-motivation, and the ability to wear multiple hats – marketer, project manager, and yes, even the actual billable work you do. Before you hit the "post my services" button, take a moment to assess your suitability:
Self-Discipline: Can you stick to a schedule without a boss hovering? Time management is crucial for juggling projects and deadlines.
Motivation: Can you stay focused and driven without the external pressure of a performance review looming? Freelancing success hinges on your internal fire.
Communication Skills: Articulating your value proposition to clients and managing expectations are essential. Hone your communication skills to build strong client relationships.
Financial Savvy: Freelancing often means fluctuating income. Budgeting, saving for lean times, and managing taxes are crucial for financial stability.
Building Your Freelance Fortress: Skills, Services, and Setting Up Shop
Now that you've confirmed your inner freelancer, it's time to lay the groundwork for your freelance empire. Here's what you need to do:
Identify Your Niche: Are you a graphic design whiz, a content writing maestro, or a social media magician? Pinpoint your area of expertise and tailor your services accordingly.
Sharpen Your Skills: Never stop learning! Take online courses, attend workshops, and stay abreast of industry trends to keep your skillset sharp.
Craft a Compelling Portfolio: This is your digital handshake. Showcase your best work, highlighting past projects that demonstrate your expertise and value to potential clients.
Build Your Online Presence: Create a professional website or online portfolio that showcases your services and grabs clients' attention. Utilize social media platforms like LinkedIn to connect with potential clients and build your professional network.
Gear Up for Success: Invest in the tools you need to excel. This might include design software, project management apps, or communication platforms depending on your chosen field.
The Client Conundrum: How to Find Work and Land Your Dream Projects
The lifeblood of any freelance career is a steady stream of clients. Here's how to get them knocking at your virtual door:
Leverage Online Marketplaces: Platforms like Upwork and Fiverr connect freelancers with clients worldwide. While competition can be fierce, these platforms are a great way to build your initial client base.
Network Like a Pro: Attend industry events, connect with potential clients on LinkedIn, and don't underestimate the power of word-of-mouth recommendations.
Guest Blogging and Content Marketing: Publish informative articles on relevant industry websites to showcase your expertise and attract potential clients who need your services.
Cold Pitching: This can be nerve-wracking, but crafting compelling proposals directly to businesses that might need your services can be highly effective.
Freelancing 101: The Nitty-Gritty of Running Your Own Business
Freelancing isn't just about creative work. Here's how to handle the business side of things:
Setting Rates and Contracts: Research industry standards for your services and set competitive yet profitable rates. Always have a clearly defined contract in place that outlines project scope, fees, deadlines, and payment terms.
Invoicing and Payment Management: Develop a system for sending invoices on time and following up on late payments. Consider online invoicing tools to streamline this process.
Taxes, Oh Taxes: Don't let taxes become a nasty surprise at the end of the year. Educate yourself on freelancer tax requirements and consider consulting a tax professional for guidance.
Building a Sustainable Freelance Career: Tips and Tricks for Long-Term Success
The freelance journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Here are some tips to ensure you stay ahead of the curve:
Always Be Learning: Continue honing your skills, stay updated on industry trends, and explore new areas of expertise to keep your services relevant and in demand.
Diversify Your Income Streams: Don't rely solely on one or two clients. Actively seek new projects and consider offering additional services to expand your income potential.
Invest in Yourself: This doesn't just mean fancy equipment. Attend conferences, workshops, or even take a well-deserved vacation to avoid burnout. Investing in your well-being fosters creativity and productivity.
Build a Support System: Freelancing can be isolating at times. Connect with other freelancers online or in your local area. Communities like Sorbet provide a space to share experiences, troubleshoot challenges, and celebrate successes.
The Final Word: Embrace the Freelance Adventure!
Taking the leap into freelancing can be exhilarating and liberating. Remember, the road to success won't always be smooth, but with dedication, perseverance, and the right strategies in place, you can build a thriving freelance career and live life on your own terms. So, ditch the fluorescent lights, embrace the freedom, and get ready to write your own freelance success story!
Bonus Tip: Don't be afraid to experiment and find what works best for you. The beauty of freelancing lies in its flexibility. Adapt your approach, refine your strategies, and continuously strive to improve your craft and your business acumen.

Getting Around on the Digital Marketing Landscape: Choosing the Best Route for Your Trip
In the contemporary digital landscape, the demand for proficient digital marketers continues to soar. Whether you're an industry veteran aiming to augment your skill set or a novice eager to enter the field, enrolling in a comprehensive digital marketing course can serve as a pivotal step toward unlocking new opportunities and advancing your professional trajectory. However, amidst the multitude of available options, identifying the ideal digital marketing course can seem overwhelming. This exhaustive guide is designed to help you navigate this decision-making process by exploring essential factors to consider when selecting the right course tailored to your needs.
Tumblr media
Clarifying Your Objectives:
Prior to immersing yourself in the myriad offerings of digital marketing courses, it's crucial to delineate your objectives. Take a moment to reflect on your career aspirations and goals. Do you seek a broad understanding of digital marketing principles, or are you inclined toward specializing in specific domains such as SEO, social media marketing, or content marketing? Articulating your objectives will provide clarity and direction, enabling you to streamline your search accordingly.
Thorough Examination of Course Content and Curriculum:
With your objectives delineated, embark on researching the content and curriculum of prospective digital marketing courses. Seek out courses that comprehensively cover a range of topics pertinent to your interests and professional ambitions. Evaluate the depth and breadth of the curriculum, ensuring it offers comprehensive coverage of fundamental digital marketing concepts, tools, and strategies.
Vetting Instructor Credentials and Reviews:
The expertise of the course instructor significantly influences the quality of the learning experience. Look for courses led by instructors with extensive experience and proficiency in the digital marketing sphere. Delve into their background, qualifications, and industry standing. Additionally, peruse reviews and testimonials from former students to glean insights into the course's effectiveness and the instructor's teaching approach.
Consideration of Course Format and Delivery:
Digital marketing courses are available in diverse formats, including online classes, in-person workshops, and hybrid programs. Consider your preferred learning style, schedule constraints, and accessibility when selecting a course format. Online courses offer flexibility and convenience, while in-person workshops afford opportunities for interactive learning and networking.
Tumblr media
Evaluation of Course Duration and Time Commitment:
Assess the duration and time commitment required to complete the course. Some digital marketing courses offer a self-paced learning structure, allowing you to progress at your own rhythm, whereas others adhere to a structured schedule with fixed deadlines. Gauge your availability and bandwidth to ensure alignment with the course requirements without feeling overwhelmed.
Validation of Industry Recognition and Accreditation:
Prioritize digital marketing courses that boast recognition and accreditation from esteemed institutions or industry bodies. Accreditation affirms adherence to industry standards and delivery of high-quality education. Furthermore, it bolsters the credibility of your credentials and enhances your appeal in the competitive job market.
Exploration of Additional Resources and Support:
Evaluate the supplementary resources and support provided by the course provider. Seek courses that offer access to supplemental materials, online forums, and community assistance to enrich your learning journey. Additionally, ascertain the availability of instructor support and feedback channels to address queries or concerns throughout the course duration.
Comparison of Pricing and Value Proposition:
Lastly, juxtapose the pricing and value proposition of different digital marketing courses. While cost is a pertinent consideration, it should not singularly dictate your decision-making process. Assess the overall value proposition, encompassing aspects such as content quality, instructor expertise, support resources, and career advancement prospects.
Conclusion: Navigating the Digital Marketing Terrain
In conclusion, the quest for the optimal digital marketing course necessitates meticulous consideration of various factors, including your learning objectives, course content, instructor credentials, delivery format, accreditation, support resources, and value proposition. By conducting comprehensive research and methodically evaluating your options, you can make an informed decision and enroll in a course that equips you with the skills and knowledge requisite for success in the dynamic realm of digital marketing. Remember, investing in your education is an investment in your future endeavors, so approach the process thoughtfully and decisively.

I'm rewriting my CV for a position and.... holy shit. I did everything I set out to do. My path is impressive. And it's not arrogance. It's just... even of I never work in the art field again... I'm proud of what I achieved.
.
.
.
In case you're interested in the museum field and collections management specifically, here's the kind of courses I took:
BA in Art
Online Course in Preventive Conservation
Workshop in Art Conservation (Introduction to the field)
Specialisation in Art Conservation
MA in Art History and Conservation
Online Course in Art Handling, Transport and Storage
And So!!! Many!!! Internships!!! To get that experience.
The only thing I would change is to have been paid during my internships. I loved everything.
I'm currently searching for jobs and studying a second degree in Information Technology at the same time.
If I get a job in the museum field, I'll do 2 courses in the next 2 years:
Art Registration
Law and Collections Management (IAL).
If I get a stable job, I also intend to do a PhD, but that's me being an overachiever, for the job I want, there's no need for one.

Navigating the Unexpected: A Guide to Thriving After a Layoff
Losing a job, especially through a layoff, can be a challenging and unexpected turn of events. While it's natural to feel a range of emotions, it's essential to approach the situation with resilience and a positive mindset. Here's a guide on how to navigate the aftermath of a layoff and turn it into an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
1. Allow Yourself to Feel: Getting laid off is undoubtedly a significant life change, and it's crucial to acknowledge and process your emotions. Allow yourself the time to grieve the loss, whether it be for the routine, colleagues, or the sense of security your job provided. It's okay to feel a mix of emotions, from frustration to uncertainty.
2. Assess Your Finances: Take a comprehensive look at your financial situation. Create a budget that reflects your current circumstances and identify areas where you can cut back if necessary. This will help you manage your finances during the transition period.

YSK why your countless online job applications never land you an interview
Why YSK: We all know how god damn demoralizing it is to try to find a new job by searching online and applying via indeed, idealist, etc. You see your dream job listed, you know you're the exact person they want/need; you fire off your resume/cv and, of course, no reply save for the confirmation it's been received and thanks for applying! /s
It doesn't matter if you apply via indeed or on the company's direct webpage. Your application, resume, cv, or whatever is never seen by a person first. It's assessed by what's called a "automated screening software," that reviews your cv/resume, compares keywords in it versus the job listing, and then determines if you're the appropriate candidate.
Sounds neat, and definitely effective, but so wholly cutthroat and you aren't even aware of it. Not even the employer who is using the site or service to host the listing.
I mean, I could imagine how fucking insane it'd be to just have resumes mag-dumped directly to my inbox and then manually go through them to assess individually. So, these things were created, but - when has anyone ever told you about this when you were in your first "resume workshop! yay!" I don't even think those people know about this software.
The simple reason your not getting callbacks is just because you aren't using the exact words that are in the job listings post. You most certainly have the skills requested, you just framed it in your own way - not the way the listing says it verbatim.
It's super arduous, annoying, and taxing to have to re-do your resume for every single listing you shoot out, but, that's the game being played, and you didn't even know it was being played.
I'll never forget learning about this when I was in a slump of no call backs for dozens of jobs I applied. I had quit a position with two colleagues at the same time as we had to get the hell out of dodge that was that job, and it was bleak. No callbacks, no interests. It was terrifying. One colleague opened their own business, so they sorted themselves out well enough, but me and the other went the indeed/idealist route. 7 months with no returns and dwindling savings/odd jobs, my colleague checks in with me about my search and ultimately shares that he's gotten a 3 callbacks in a matter of weeks as a result of some website he used (jobscan.co).
I'll never forget that conversation, that website, and the curtain pull of how all this shit works. I used that site for a bit, but once I realized that all you had to do was semi-copy/paste word usage from the job posting into my CV/resume- suddenly, I was getting equally numerous responses back and interviews.
We're beyond the times of "knowing someone to get your foot in thr door." This is what's keeping people that actually could perform the job from even being noticed as an applicant because of sorting software. It's so simple and so stupid, but that's why you barely ever hear back beyond some automated "thanks for applying!"
I hope this helps someone. Boy, do i know how horribly soul-crushing and invalidating it is to apply for something you 100% know you qualify for and would do amazing at only to just be met with non-resonses. You're good at what you do, you're just up again a stupid program, not a lame HR person.

Your step-by-step guide to landing your dream job!
youtube
What is Media Marketing?
Media marketing is the strategic promotion of products, services, or brands using various media channels. Media channels such as print, billboards, radio, television, email, social media marketing, search engine, content, mobile and influencer marketing. Marketer’s research what consumers want and find ways to provide it to them. They study demographics, lifestyles, interests and behaviours to find out who their target audience is and how best to target them.
What Skills and Knowledge Needed?
Becoming a successful media marketer requires a combination of skills that incorporate traditional and digital marketing techniques. Some essential skills and knowledge needed to excel as a media marketer include digital marketing expertise, data analysis, market research, creative skills, communication, adaptability, project management, interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and social and cultural awareness (Simms, C. 2022). Additionally, developing skills in creating compelling written, visual, and multimedia content that resonates with your target audience is imperative.
Tumblr media
To become an expert in Media Marketing you need to have a holistic understanding of Social Media Management. Understanding of numerous social media platforms and their algorithms is vital for content engagement. Data analysis skills are a fundamental part of media marketing to be able to track and analyse user behaviour to refine marketing strategies. Additionally, familiarising yourself with Search Engine Optimisation and Pay-Per-Click Advertising will improve traffic to websites, which will ultimately increase sales (Berman, R. and Katona, Z., 2013).
The field of media is rapidly changing which means that media markets need to be up to date with their clientele’s interests. Creative skills like graphic design and copywriting can enhance the efforts of media marketers in reaching consumers through their prior grasp of data analysis, enabling them to discern the aesthetic preferences of the consumers.
How to develop those skills and knowledge?
Achieving the skills listed for a media marketer involves a combination of education, practice and experience. A possible route is taking online courses in digital marketing or a tertiary course in marketing, media, communication or advertising. Gaining experience from internships, workplace experience, and anywhere to gain hands-on experience is important for future employers to see.  Moreover, analysing what other companies or campaigns are doing to promote and use that to develop your own skills. Another way is to find others in the business or join marketing communities to learn from others’ experiences. Attending webinars, conferences, and workshops to learn from experts in the field, will help you stay up to date on trends and changes. To enhance your understanding of effective advertising strategies, it is crucial to thoroughly examine successful advertisements and conduct in-depth analyses of their key elements. Moreover, seeking mentorship or guidance from seasoned project managers can provide valuable insights and practical advice, aiding your growth in the field. Additionally attending networking events, conferences, and meetups can facilitate the expansion of your professional network, fostering connections that can prove invaluable for your career advancement.
What are employers looking for?
Employers are looking for applicants who have the “ability to come up with creative, shareable content” (Muntean, M. 2022). As shown in image 1 “the ideal candidate” will have a “tertiary qualification in Marketing… 5+ years' experience [and] multiple products [portfolios] …to drive strategic outcomes.”
Tumblr media
Product Portfolio management involves the ability to manage all aspects of the products your company sells. It is important that you have previous examples of how you have developed other companies and evidence that you have the skills to thrive that their company. Moreover, the ability to “create a cohesive look” for the “brand's online presence” can increase your likeliness to get a job in this area.
Employers are looking for people who have experience in the business, which is why it is vital that internships or practice in the field has been completed. Completing internships can also lead to long term jobs, therefore expanding your knowledge and understanding through these internships are vital.  Finally, having a strong resume with experience and skills and a link to your LinkedIn Profile with updated files and products you have created is a great way for employers to see if you are the right fit for the company (Muntean, M. 2022).
To succeed in media marketing, a combination of traditional and digital skills is crucial. Creating interesting content, understanding social media, and adapting to industry changes are key. Practical experience, innovation, and effective communication strategies are important to improve skills and knowledge and are also sought after by employers.
Consider media marketing’s fusion of creativity and data, traditional and digital. How does someone master this everchanging realm? Consider the skills needed to continuously develop your expertise in media marketing.
