New Pen Day

A friend had a birthday coming up and needed a pen that could handle some shimmer inks I'd given them. Obviously this meant I had to buy myself the pens first to test them, and my word do I love these (and so much better than the Jinhaos I bought a few years ago)

Definitely helps that a recent Valentine's exchange let me discover a new favourite paper that really showcases all the properties of the inks

Now I just need to find a way to justify having such beautiful equipment!

One of my coworkers brings me a 2 dollar bill in a beautiful envelope with the animal of the year every Lunar New Year (n=5). The instructions are to leave it under my welcome mat, but I don't have one at the office, so I put the new one on my office door every year. Today was the day I got my gift, and I had just the pen in mind. It's such a sweet gesture that makes me smile. 😍

The feathering on Tomoe River seems to be happening with the 'new' Tomoe River only. 🙄

Jinhao 82 and Delike New Moon 2 Nibs

Jinhao 82 EF on the left and Delike New Moon 2 EF on the right. Working on a comparison post but will make a few comments now. The New Moon is a slightly larger pen and has a smoother nib. The Jinhao 82 EF is sharp and needs a very light touch. The Jinhao 82 F writes more like the New Moon EF but produces a slightly wider line. BRAND PRODUCT PLACEMENT:

Jinhao 85 - Rosewood with hooded nib (or walnut since the whole scene uses a red filter)

The gold cap makes this an upgrade from a previous cheaper model. This one is still inexpensive but it's a workhorse done in the Parker cigar hooded-style that there are a billion clones of. I own and love a couple 51A pens that are a super cheap acrylic variety.
