W O R T H - Masterlist
Summary: A story in which the Reader takes the burden upon herself and becomes an Animagus in order to protect Remus, unbeknownst to him. He shouldn’t know. And he never will know. Because you were never going to tell him.
Pairing: Remus Lupin x Reader, Sirius Black x Reader
Excerpt:
You were sixteen when you succeeded, finally transformed into the animal of your choice. It was simply overwhelming, this moment of success. You were speechless and soon the tears started to spill endlessly. Happiness, joy, pride, fear, it just all mixed together into a big ball of a mess.
Human. Fox. Fox. Human. Back and forth, human and animal, night and day.The hard work had paid off, all while you were well aware of the possible danger that this “experiment” was holding. Countless nights of practicing in secret, of sneaking out of the Gryffindor Tower and searching for the Room of Requirement.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

How to make a character's death sadder
Don’t have them die of old age after a long, fulfilling life. Many people don’t even think of this as sad (note that this can still work if you have enough of the other factors).
Leave one of their major goals unfinished. The more enthusiastic they are about completing the goal, the sadder.
Give them strong relationships with other characters.
Make them fight against whatever is causing their death. Their ultimate loss is sadder if they struggle.
Kill them in the middle of their character arc.
Don’t describe their funeral in detail. Maybe it’s just me, but I find that long descriptions of funerals kill the sadness.

Just like Slughorn, Albus Dumbledore collects people. Only, instead of focusing on those with influence, he looks to the outcasts.
The expelled half-giant. The young werewolf. The repentant Death Eater.
He protects them and gives them a second chance. All he asks in return is their loyalty.
And, if on occasion he requests that they undertake a certain task, invoking their debt of gratitude - well, that is no more than he is owed.
He once thought to add a certain disowned Black to his collection, but quickly realised his mistake.
Sirius is not an outcast, but a rebel. He knowingly chose his path, and chooses what price he is willing to pay for it. He refuses to be used.
So Albus Dumbledore abandons him.

All I can think about right now is that
at the beginning of Philosopher’s Stone, Hagrid talks about the bike he travelled on being given to him by Sirius, and in Prisoner of Azkaban (I think) he also says that he comforted Sirius when he was crying about James and Lily being dead at Godric’s Hollow.
So whatever you do, don’t think about Sirius arriving at Godric’s Hollow to visit his best friends and godson, all happy and cheerful.
Don’t think about him walking into the house and finding his best friend - his brother - laying dead in the hallway.
Don’t think about him then finding his best friend’s wife laying in front of the crib that his godson is sitting in.
Don’t think about Sirius grabbing ahold of Harry and clinging onto him, tears falling down his cheeks whilst Harry giggles, thinking it’s all a game.
Don’t think about Hagrid turning up at that exact moment, finding Sirius sobbing over his friends’ dead bodies.
Don’t think about Hagrid comforting poor Sirius as he clings onto the half giant and the small messy haired baby that resembles James so much.
Don’t think about Hagrid having to tell Sirius that he’s been sent to take his godson away from him.
Don’t think about Sirius arguing, fighting for his godson to stay with, though he knows it’s a long shot because everyone thinks he was the Potters’ secret keeper.
Don’t think about Sirius losing hope, and offering his bike to Hagrid to get Harry to a safer place, because he knows he won’t be using it for the unforeseeable future, and he knows that Harry will be safer wherever Dumbledore places him.
Don’t think about Sirius crying as he watches Hagrid take his godson away from Godric’s Hollow.
Whatever you do, don’t do it.

alternative depression tips for when you read the ‘depression tips’ post and laugh hollowly, bc only in your fondest dreams could you manage to do any of those things
dry shampoo and face wipes are your friend. if you can brush your teeth you’ll feel maybe 2% less disgusting. wash your hands.
smelling nice is gr9, rubbing moisturiser in is Exhausting. perfume, scented candles and linen sprays are way quicker.
try to change your clothes at least every other day. wear sweats or pjs as often as you physically can.
you don’t need to put on underwear if you’re not leaving the house (that goes double for bras and binders)
drink any water that hasn’t been sitting out on your desk for a week. dust doesn’t taste good. stay hydrated. I fill one of those 2 litre bottles in the morning and keep it with me so I don’t have to get up and walk to the sink.
re: cleaning, try and keep one room vaguely clean. if everywhere else is a shit hole that’s fine, but you can go sit in your one tidy space and chill for a bit. it’s fine if that’s the bathroom or just the corner of your bedroom where there’s no crap on the floor. find a tiny space that isn’t horrifying and sit in it.
music helps.
eat a thing. +5 points if it has a fresh fruit or vegetable in it. take out is acceptable if it comes with veggies.
if your creativity curled up and died a long time ago try and find something that at least reminds you what it was like to feel inspired. watch a film, look at some art (probably not your own), read a thing. if that makes you feel worse, just?? don’t think about it??
grounding yourself is actually really helpful. open the window and breathe for 2 minutes. lay down on the floor and feel your whole body (unless you don’t want to in which case: lay down and don’t feel anything except the floor)
human interaction is Good. text a family member you don’t hate if you have one. message a friend. reply to someone’s personal post with ‘SAME’. make your own personal post asking the void for validation. stare out the window at people and remind yourself that life exists outside of the black space inside your head. whatever works.
pets are amazing, agreed. watch some funny animal vines if you don’t have one.

The aftermath of the War
When Molly asks him, voice thick with worry, if he’s sure about splitting with Ginny. He tells her he isn’t, but he doesn’t know what he’s feeling. Because it’s easier to ease her concerns with a handful of crafted lies, than to tell her sometimes he can’t look at Ginny without thinking about the Forest of Dean and sleepless nights. When Ron asks him, eyebrows furrowed in confusion, if he’s sure about quitting Auror training, he replies with a short “maybe one day I’ll go back,” because it softens the lines of Ron’s face and Harry sees his shoulders relax. Because it’s easier than admitting he’s tired of fighting and a Saviour can only do his duty so many times before he cracks. When Luna asks him if he’s sure about traveling on his own, he assures her he’ll be fine and tells her she ought to keep her job. Because it’s easier than telling her he needs to be alone and figure out who he’s been all along. Who he is other than the Chosen One, the Wonder Boy and the Boy Who Feels Like He’s Already Lived Too Long. When Hermione asks him if he’s sure he’s happy with his life, he stares at the flickering fire and gives her a small smile. Because it’s easier than telling her happiness seems far too distant of a goal sometimes. When Headmistress Mcgonagall asks him if he’s sure about taking the job, he grins and tells her he doesn’t mind teaching until his head throbs. Because it’s easier than explaining that Hogwarts was his first home and he realized while in India that the ancient halls that hum with magic are the place where he belongs. When he goes to the Burrow on a snowy Christmas Eve, holding Draco by the hand, almost scared that he’ll leave. He looks at them and hopes, he wonders if they’ll ask. He itches to tell them, how they flew on Friday nights and how their Saturday mornings were filled tea and a little bit of wine. How his chest felt a size to tight, when he looked Draco in the eye and he saw the colour of the Winter’s sky. How they kissed under the stars, when the castle was asleep and the forest was alive. Instead, they don’t ask, but give him a knowing smile, and Harry knows, that for once, they know he’s sure about it all. Not all is well, they’ll always have their scars. They’ll always be children who fought too many wars. But Hermione looks at him, how his face is lit with giddiness. And at last, she doesn’t worry about his happiness.

Between Sirius’ “Harry You Need To Start A Secret Army” Black’s lack of impulse control, Regulus “I’m Drinking This Poison Next To A Lake Of Inferi” Black’s lack of impulse control, Narcissa “I’m Asking This Teacher To Protect My Son Or Die” Black’s lack of impulse control and Bellatrix “Literally Every Scene She Was In” Black’s lack of impulse control…I just…
Can you imagine the family meetups when they were kids?
Living in creepy manors? Manors that were filled with all sorts of dark artifacts and creatures? Manors that were visited by Death Eaters?
How the hell did it take eighteen years before one of them died?

Peter: Can anyone, PLEASE, explain why we’re having a campfire in the middle of the Forbidden Forest?! There isn’t even Full Moon!
Sirius: And where do you think a campfire should be done? in the common room? in the bathroom? in the Headmaster’s office? IN THE GREAT HALL, PETE?
Remus: Filch would have a heart attack.
James: And McGonagall will have us in detention for eternity. AGAIN.
Peter: ok, ok ok ok….. Buuuuuut why we don’t sleep in our beds like everyone else?
James: Because sleeping in the dormitory is extremely boring, Pete.
Sirius: Aaaand… especially because we love seeing your terrified face, Wormtail.
