This sketch was done at the local mall (Market Market!), when we stopped for a light lunch (at Beiruti Bites) while we were doing a massive Christmas shop for all the ingredients we needed to cook our Christmas dinner. I added all the sparkly lights with a Posca pen. Mon-23-Dec-2024

I always run into the problem of "What do I draw next?" So here is a prompt list I made that I hope will curb that. I've got my list at the side, and to the right, I've got letters A-Z. My idea is that everyday, I'll just do something on the list that I feel like doing, example "Portraits". And since I haven't drawn a portrait yet, I'll do a portrait A- like it could be A for Alexander Hamilton, or A for African woman. The letter's just there to start me off.

Once the portrait is done, I can check off that box, and do a Portrait that starts with B next time.

I really wanted to give myself a lot of options so that I don't feel too stuck on certain ideas and then not do them because I don't like my idea for that day.

Here's to drawing everyday! I can do this!

Here are two sketches I did while waiting for procedures during our annual health check up at Manila Doctors Hospital. The building in my first sketch (viewed from the window of the hospital) was initially built as the Agriculture and Commerce Building in 1940 (it was designed by Filipino Architect Antonio Toledo in the late 1930s). Sometimes, being out and about early in the morning is actually a good idea. I had no plans of leaving my bed so early in the morning, but somehow, my friend convinced me to go, and here I was, coffee in hand, walking in between kid bikers and little toddlers on wheels. The teachers started a 14 Day Fat Loss Exercise out of nowhere. The music was blasting out and people were laughing. The dads sipped coffees and chatted with each other while the moms did the dance. Gosh, it was so funny, especially when the teachers started making jokes.

Good people are fun to be around, especially when they're funny.

The mobility offered by using an iPad to sketch is tremendous. I remembered standing at a little unobtrusive corner and sketching away and most passers-by thought I was just using a mobile smart device without arousing any curiosity what I was doing with it. I could also expand the page that I was sketching on, at the same time zooming in and out when necessary if I couldn't really see or when I was detailing. Or reposition the drawings for a more effective layout on the spread. The only setback was, the hand that was holding the device got tired pretty quick. I probably need to get something to make it stand on its own. Then perhaps when that happens, somebody may take notice.
