I stumbled across an old GQ article about House MD, and the actors' headcanons of what happened to their characters after the series ended are even more unhinged than the wildest crackfics on AO3.

PLEASE, fanfic authors, I'm begging you... someone write the President Gregory House / Dominatrix Martha Masters scenario that Hugh Laurie and Amber Tamblyn dreamed up. Or any of the other plots mentioned below. Or somehow cram all of them into the same epic post-canon fic.

I just think multiple House characters should be allowed to have a dream where they are hitting their dad with a baseball bat and he is screaming and crying for help and maybe halfway through it has more to do with them killing him than it ever did protecting themselves

Foreman treats himself like a mausoleum where he buries his feelings

Cameron has self-righteous or wet anger, her anger also often masks fear or guilt

Amber’s worst anger comes from seeing herself in someone (bad version) but she’s also capable of expressing anger in a healthy way

Kutner is similar. He gets angriest at the bullies who remind him of him. He gets angry enough to recognize his reflection, set aside his ego, and attempt to make amends. Amber needed help from House to face her feelings about the last diagnostics patient she treats. Kutner does it alone. Kutner is alone in his anger.

Chase expresses his anger violently a few times - punching House, getting into a knock-down drag-out with his former surgeon boss. But mostly, I’d argue that Chase shuts down when he gets angry. He’s not allowed to ask for better and no one’s gonna listen. This is just how things are. Chase has learned helplessness anger.

I've been saying for over a year now that I want to write a post about House characters and attachment theory. I start my new job tomorrow, so for now this is the very concise tl;dr of some of the concepts I want to touch on in it, haha. I have reasoning behind all of these so I would love to discuss if anyone's interested or has other thoughts!

(also, imo House, Cameron, and Thirteen all have both mommy issues and daddy issues, but I assigned them based on whichever feels most prominent in their life/actions)
