why are you rewriting the MBAV movie in a book?

because I am currently super fixated on My Babysitter's a Vampire and I need an outlet for that,

as well as the fact that I personally do not really enjoy high school tropes, and I like the freedom that comes with having older characters so I'm rewriting it with the characters as college students rather than freshmen in high school, because mbav was a fairly dark movie/series with themes like death/murder, cults, brainwashing, etc, but the show and movie never really dwelled on those themes as much obviously to keep it light, but i am very much a horror fan so am planning to rewrite as more of an older audience-targeted horror comedy supernatural type thing

things like their ages have always felt very inconsistent to me too just because like on the wikis it describes ethan as 14 at first, and sarah as 17, which feels like a bit of an odd age gap for me for them to be considered a couple, as well as the fact that jesse was previously a reverend, and i know jesse isn't exactly someone to abide by rules but as far as my research has shown, you need to be at least 24/25 to become one! so either jesse is bodily at least 24, or he has an appearance that can pass for an adult, which either way 1. makes it more unrealistic that he could pretend to be a teenager in high school, and 2. makes it weird for him to date both sarah and erica who were around 16-17, so having them all as college students makes these things go a lot more smoothly

overall i think it just has a lot of potential to be taken so much more seriously (obviously still being funny and iconic, but as well as having a lot more depth and darkness to it too)

Jesse is the best villain in this universe but it doesn’t justify what he did to Sarah. It was selfish and mean.
