Legends Never Die (My Babysitter's A Vampire) (Season 2 Finale)

Third Person POV

"This is the end, isn't it?!" Benny shrieked as they ran down the Council halls. "Not yet, get in!" Jesse shoved Benny, Ethan, and Sarah towards a black door. He yanked it open, and they clattered down stone steps and into a basement. "Here." Jesse hit a switch on the wall, and a whole section of the wall separated, sliding with a grinding noise. "In. Now, we don't have time!" Sarah yelled as a purple glow started leaking from the nave of the church. The group fled in the hole in the wall, and the stone slammed shut, encasing them in darkness. "Ow, that was my foot, jerk!" Ethan snapped as Benny stumbled. "Sorry, sorry! I can't see, it's not my fault." His best friend snapped back. "Oh, my God." There was a flick, and Jesse held up a lighter. "Come on." He turned, leading them down a dark hall. Sarah grabbed Ethan's hand and Ethan grabbed Benny's wrist, making a chain down the hall.

They felt it when it happened. There was a loud BOOM, and the walls shook. Sarah gasped, stumbling, and Jesse quickly caught her as Benny and Ethan stumbled into each other. "Thanks," Sarah muttered, stepping back, and Jesse, looking oddly shy, nodded. For a moment, there was silence. Then, Sarah jumped as Ethan's phone rang. He scrambled for it, flipping it open. "Hello?" He asked quickly.

"Where are you?" Jane's voice echoed. "Grandma's awake, and she's worried! There was an earthquake, I want you home." She said this like she didn't really want to admit it. "Um...okay, I'll be there soon." Ethan mumbled, hanging up. "Is there anything still out there?" He asked. Sarah stepped past Benny, back to the place where the wall opened. "Wait--" Jesse began.

She threw the switch.

The wall opened, and...nothing happened. She took a deep breath, stepping out. For a moment, she sparked, like there were tiny diamonds on her skin, and then it was gone. "Sarah?" Ethan asked when she stood there, back to them, silent. She turned and hissed, eyes turning gold-green, making Ethan and Benny flinch. "Still normal," Sarah laughed. Jesse stepped out next. He shrugged. "She's right, I don't feel different." He said.

*Time Skip*

Ethan rushed into the house, Benny and Sarah following. "Oh. Right," Ethan said as Jesse paused. "Um. Come in, I guess." He said, and Jesse stepped over the threshold. "Horace Black," A voice said, and Grandma Weir stepped from the kitchen, eyes curious. "It's been a while since I've seen a living Black." "I--how do you know his real name?" Benny squeaked. "I'm an Earth Priestess, I know things. Now." She turned to Sarah, handing her a bottle of synthetic blood, and offered one to a stunned Jesse. "Thanks," He said, and as the two vampires ate, Ethan explained everything that went down.

"Yes, the Lucifractor failed. I could feel it, so you should still be the same." Grandma said, gesturing to Jane. "We've put protection spells on the house, but for now, I think we're safe." She said, and turned to Benny. "I'm going home. Are you staying here?" She asked. Benny looked at Ethan, his eyes dark with something Ethan couldn't identify. "Yeah. I have to." He said. Grandma nodded, kissed his forehead, and left. "Why do you have to?" Sarah asked. Benny shrugged. "It'll be...less lonely." He muttered. That...that made sense. They had thought they were going to die, and now...

"Maybe we should all stay," Sarah said. "Uh..." Jesse trailed off. "Oh, shut up and get comfy," Ethan snapped, moving to a closet. "We're staying." "You're holding me hostage now?" Jesse chuckled. "If I have to, yes." Ethan shoved blankets at Sarah and Jesse. "Like I said, get comfy. I'll...get some movies or something." "I'll get food!" Benny ran to the kitchen, Jane rushing after him.

Ethan dug in the movies in his room, frowning. He couldn't stop thinking. What if they'd really died? What if they hadn't made it? He shook his head, pulling a thick stack of DVDs out of his closet. He turned, jumping when he saw Sarah in the doorway. "Hey," She said softly, taking some of the movies. He smiled, thanking her. "What's wrong?" She asked as they reached the stairs. "I'm just thinking," He told her.

She frowned, stopping mid-stair. "About what?" She wondered. "What...what if we hadn't made it?" Ethan expressed his fear. She smiled, a soft, careful smile. "But we did. You wanna know something?" She asked. "What?" He asked as they reached the living room. Sarah looked around. Benny was laughing at something, and Jane aws talking quietly to Jesse, who was, for the most part, seeimingly enjoying Jane's inquiries about himself.

"We made it." She said firmly. "It's a fact: legends never die," She teased, rushing into the living room with a cry of, "We got movies!" "Yes!" Benny and Jane shouted, swarming her. Ethan smiled.

Legends never die.

ID: Thanks for asking that. I can’t reveal much because I may still get the chance to do it! But, I will say a few things. I like the path that we’ve set up for each of our characters and like where we’d planned to take them. It’s a tough balance when you have five characters to serve. And we’re making a comedy first and foremost. This isn’t Vampire Diaries or True Blood. So, I want most of what we do to be funny. I can’t say too much, just in case I get to write it! But I can tell you what I like most about each character. I like how Rory thinks he’s great. Every idea he has is a great one. He’s not really worried about how other people think of him, even though he really wants to fit in. I like putting him in situations where this is clear and fun. Like him just having an alter ego named MC Monsterbat. Rory would never doubt that such a thing would be awesome. Erica is a nerdgirl. I like it when that side of her comes out. And Kate is very funny and dry, so getting Erica to that place is fun. Sarah is growing to respect Ethan, and I like putting her in the place where she realizes that she does like him and Benny, and they do make her laugh. Vanessa is great in those moments when Sarah almost doesn’t want to admit that those guys are actually pretty cool. Benny is Benny, and he’s accepting Rory more and more. I LOVE putting the two of them together. When we were writing TDTEAD, that was my favorite part. Neither one of them really knows what’s going on - Benny thinks he does, and Rory just doesn’t think anything can go wrong. It’s great to have Benny think he’s the smart one, but only because he’s talking to Rory. Ethan is, in a way, realizing who he is. He started this series wanting to fly under the radar like so many of us want. Just avoid the disasters of high school and try to live through it. As time has gone on, he’s less concerned with impressing Sarah and more concerned with what’s going on around him. He can’t hide. He has a gift, and I want him to step up and really use it. Ethan, Benny, and Rory remind me of me and my two best friends in high school, so I just like having them together. As for other characters, I’d like to find out what happens with Anastasia, and I’d love to have Doug Falconhawk return for some reason. And I think Mr. G is awesome. I’d really like to see him try to take Rory under his wing. /end ID

i was looking through my mbav files and i found this screenshot of mike kiss’s plans for season 3 had he had the chance to make it (dated approximately december 3rd 2012). i don’t remember who posted it here originally so i’m just gonna repost and link you guys to this one that explains what led to the show’s cancellation, since a lot of the fandom wasn’t here back in the day
