Decision To Leave
Movies watched in 2023
Decision To Leave (2022, South Korea)
Director: Park Chan Wook
Writers: Chung Seo Kyung & Park Chan Wook
Mini-review:
Park Chan Wook is probably my favorite director, so you can imagine how excited I was about Decision To Leave, with it being his first movie in 6 years. And, of course, he doesn't disappoint. Sure, it's definitely not at the level of his best movies, but it's still a great film in pretty much every way. It may take its time when setting up the story and the characters, but it's never boring because the acting, the directing and the writing are masterful. Tang Wei and Park Hae Il give spectacular performances, and it's obvious that Park Chan Wook had a lot of fun making this movie. I admit the storyline was much more simple and straightforward than I expected, but maybe that's what allowed the director to experiment and play around with the cinematography, the editing and the structure of the scenes. All this results in a visually fascinating movie.
I seriously hope it doesn't take 6 more years for Park Chan Wook to release another movie.

arrogant ceo yunho who gets knocked down by his cute little intern
He works his employees to the bone, forcing long, gruelling hours and unnecessary overtime. He finds it amusing how easily anyone bends over backwards to please him. He loves knowing how many people hate him but can't afford to lose their jobs, so they never formally complain. You've been dealing with this for months, just trying to get through your internship without pulling your hair out, yet Mr. Jeong always finds a way to add more to your plate and make you redo reports.
Everyone has a breaking point, so when your recent report gets flagged, again, you can only purse your lips and turn to your computer to redo it—until you get called into his office. You swear you could feel your eye twitch, your nails digging into your palms as you clench your fists in an attempt not to break everything on your desk.
You march to his office, throwing open the door without knocking or waiting for approval. "Do you find joy in making your employee's lives miserable?" His door hadn't even been closed when you started in on him. Mr. Jeong quirks a brow, a scoff leaving his lips as he pushes reports aside on his desk. With a clenched jaw, you stalked over to his desk, wrapping his tie around his hand and yanking him forward.
His eyes widened as a staggered gasp left his mouth at your incredulous action. “Do you think… this is a laughing matter, Mr. Jeong?” Your voice is hauntingly smooth as you tug on his tie again. “I can terminate your contract for this stunt.” He internally groaned at how shaky his breath was as he talked. You chuckled dryly. “You won’t, though.” You stare into his eyes, glazed over with bottled emotions. “Why wouldn’t I?”
“Because you know I do this job better than any employee here,” You tightened your grip on his tie. “And you’d be damned to lose me.” His office suddenly feels a lot hotter, his throat dry as he tries to focus on the fury in your eyes and not your soft lips that are pulled taut.
Mr. Jeong's lips press together, his eyes locked onto yours, trying to reclaim the authority that has suddenly slipped from his grasp. You can see the conflict brewing in his gaze—indignation fighting with undeniable acknowledgment. He knows you're right. You’ve always known. That’s why he pushes you the hardest, testing how far you'll go, seeing if you'll break.
For a moment, he’s speechless, his bravado slipping as he struggles to find a response. “This—” he starts, his voice wavering slightly. “This is unacceptable behaviour.” But you don’t let go. Instead, you lean closer, and you can feel his breath hitch. He’s always been untouchable, but right now, he’s caught—like prey staring down the barrel of a loaded gun.
You feel something snap inside you—a dam breaking. All the pent-up frustration, all the swallowed rage. “You know what’s unacceptable?” you say, your voice low and laced with contempt. “Being treated like a machine. Expecting loyalty without respect. You think your power gives you the right to treat us like we’re beneath you. But not me. Not anymore.”
His face flushes, and for the first time since you started here, he looks unsure. Vulnerable. It's as if you've shattered the carefully crafted mask he wears every day. You can see him wavering, his confidence fraying like a thread about to snap. You’ve never seen him this way—off-balance, unguarded. There's a strange thrill in watching him come undone, knowing that you've managed to pierce the armour he hides behind.
“Let me be clear,” you say, loosening your grip just enough to let him breathe but not enough for him to pull away. “I will finish this report, and I will do it perfectly like I always do. But from now on, you're going to treat me with the respect I deserve—or I walk. And believe me, you will feel it when I’m gone.”
He’s silent, the room thick with tension. Slowly, you release his tie, smoothing it back down against his chest. His breathing is uneven, his eyes wide, but he doesn’t stop you. He watches you like he’s never really seen you before, and maybe he hasn’t. Maybe you've been just another employee to him until now, another cog in the machine.
“Get back to work,” he says, but the command lacks its usual edge. You turn to leave, not bothering to wait for a dismissal this time. As you step through the doorway, you don’t slam the door shut. You leave it slightly ajar, knowing he’s still staring after you, something in the atmosphere between you changed forever.
Back at your desk, you start the report again, your hands steady, your mind clear. There's a new feeling thrumming in your chest—an unfamiliar, heady sense of power. For the first time, you think he might be the one who’s afraid to lose you.
And that realization? It makes you smile.
-
Yunho sat in his office, staring at the office door you walked out of. His breathing came out hot and heavy, his heart racing in his chest. He knows he shouldn’t, but your fire is eating him alive. He can feel it crawl into every crevice of his being, lighting him up from the inside out. He leans back in his chair, trying to will his mind to be anywhere other than his pretty little intern.
Wait.
His pretty little intern…
His pretty little intern…
His pretty little intern…
His mouth fell agape, wondering where the audacity of his own thoughts was coming from. His attempt to think of anything but you was futile; no matter what he did, his thoughts found their way back to you. He ran a hand over his face, a dull throb in his head as he paced around his office. He shook his head with a huff, striding over to his door.
His eyes are scanning the cubicles and desks, watching as all employees avoid eye contact. He walks with a purpose, making his way to your desk. You nonchalantly sip on your coffee, holding a hand out to stop him before he can speak, opting to finish typing out the email before hitting send. He stared at you with disdain, his tongue poking his cheek as he sighed out his frustration. You turned in your chair, cocking your head. “My office. Now.”
“For what reason?” Yunho quirked a brow, taking notice as other workers stopped their work to witness the scene upon them. “Oh? Already forgot the stunt you pulled in my office?” Yunho leaned his hands on your desk, lowering his head to yours. “The only one pulling stunts is you, Mr. Jeong ‘never leaves his office for anything or anyone’ Yunho.” The other workers whispered among themselves, silently applauding you in your stance against your big, bad boss.
Yunho pulled out a folded paper from his jacket, straightening up before throwing it in front of you. “Alright then, here’s your final assignment. Appear in my office in two minutes or face termination.” A ghost of a smirk tugged at his lips as he put his hands in his pockets, making his way back to his office. You eyed the folded paper, scoffing at his absurdity. He actually handed you a termination letter.
You clutched the paper tightly as you got out of your seat. You threw it into your desk trashcan, grumbling as you made your way into his office. He sat against his desk, his hands still in his pockets yet his coat was off this time. He briefly took a hand out of his pocket, beckoning you over with a finger. As you stood in front of him, you could smell the cologne waving off him; a mix of earthy tones and sweetness.
Yunho waited for the click of his door, ensuring that it was closed before he wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you into him. His lips found yours with ease. His kiss was rushed, fueled by the emotions from earlier. “You have no idea what you do to me.” His voice is hushed as he whispers against your lips. His hands stay busy on your waist, tugging your hips closer. You smile into the kiss, letting Yunho’s hands explore your body like he’s done many times before. You slide your hands lower, palming over the obvious bulge in his slacks.
“Fuck, I need you now.” Yunho turns you around, moving you to bend over his desk. He unceremoniously tugs your pants down your thighs, groaning as he eyes the lace trimming of your panties. Yunho shoved your panties to the side, letting his leaking cock bump against your clit. You jolt against his desk, clawing at the wood. Yunho leans against your back, taking your hands in his. The ring on his finger catches against your matching one.
“Gonna be good for me, honey? Be a good girl for daddy, huh?”

brothers best friend pt 2 w/ jeong yunho
part 1
so i forgot to pause my queue and you’re getting this a day early… whoops
yunho looks so massive towering above you like that
there’s an unfamiliar look on his face, cheeks flushed, lips parted, nostrils flared, and you can’t help but feel a little nervous under his watchful gaze
maybe he’s angry, but you can’t think of anything you’d done to upset him
hell, you’d fallen asleep pretty much as soon as he told you to! its like you could’ve—
oh fuck… the dream
you sit up as quick as humanly possible, any semblance of sleepiness slipping away as you realise exactly why he’s looking at you like that
like you’ve just committed the greatest crime known to man
you can’t look at him, embarrassment and guilt flowing through you like blood
“yun, i—” he cuts you off with a shush
it confuses you for just a second or two; surely he’d give you the chance to explain your self right?
it’s hardly like you deserve to have that chance, perverted little slut
but still, yunho is a nice enough guy; he’ll let you try and wriggle your way out of it… won’t he?
“yunho, i can ex—” again, you’re cut off with a sharp shush
you whimper in response as the tears that begin to gather along your lash line turn his silhouette blurry
“i don’t need an explanation from you,” he speaks softly, “i don’t want one, either. i don’t think it would change anything, do you?”
his face is still set in stone, eyes steely as they stare you down
it only makes you feel even more pathetic, like a child being scolded for making a mess
you wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how he saw you; nothing more than his friends kid sister making a mess of things again
you’re always making a mess of things…
your eyes begin to burn with tears
“why are you getting upset, sweetheart?” yunho asks from above you, voice stern and commanding and nothing like the teasing tone he usually uses with you
“it’s embarrassing,” you sniffle, trying your hardest to stop your voice from wavering under the influence of your tears, “i’m sorry.”
he hums, nodding slightly as though he’s seriously mulling over your apology
as if he’s actually considering accepting it…
its cruel, making you wait for your judgement as if he’s not going to end up kicking you out at the end of it all
maybe you were wrong about him being a kind man…
“why is it embarrassing?” he hums, and your heart sinks just a little further
great; he’s going to humiliate you before kicking you out
your eyes meet his, begging for just a little mercy
he doesn’t seem to waver, eyes still icy and face still wearing that unreadable expression
“yunho,” you whisper, mentally preparing yourself to beg for forgiveness
he shakes his head, a hum of disapproval leaving his lips, “tell me, honey; why are you embarrassed?”
and just like that the dam breaks, your chin wobbling as a long keen leaves the back of your throat
the first tear rolls down your cheek, swiftly followed by a second
yunho catches them with his thumbs
“tell me…”
you suck in a shaky breath, forcing it out through your pursed lips
it doesn’t really help to soothe you like you thought it would…
“i had a wet dream about you,” your voice is so timid and small… you’re pathetic
“yes, you did,” yunho agrees, “but i hardly think that’s a good reason for all this fuss, hm?”
you can’t quite make out the tone of his voice
it almost sounds affectionate under that thick layer of condescension that only ever comes out when he’s talking to you
“after all, you didn’t see me crying when i was thinking all those dirty thoughts about you crawling into my bed…”
what?
your jaw hangs slack as you let his words soak in
he has to be teasing you, right?
“your pretty pussy was showing through your shorts, baby, but you didn’t even realise, hm?”
he takes your chin in his hand, forcefully snapping your mouth shut
“you were clenching around nothing,” his pink tongue swipes over his bottom lip, “practically begging for me to fill you up and you didn’t even realise.”
you squirm, everything he does working against you and your barely intact sanity
his words that he says so nonchalantly as if you’re not utterly filthy
his hand that remains firmly on your chin, his thumb dancing back and forth along your jawline
that damned tongue that he can’t seem to keep inside of his mouth for more than a second
you can’t help it when you whimper; after all, he’s the only one to blame
“yuyu,” you sound as pathetic as you feel, but you don’t have the brain power to feel humiliated, “please do something…”
he smiles down at you
“do something?” he asks, “like what, honey? you’re going to have to be more specific if you want yuyu to do what you want.”
the sound of him teasing you so effortlessly goes straight to your cunt, and you clench your thighs around nothing
it doesn’t help ease the ache between them at all
in fact all it does is smear your wetness over your thighs, leaving you with a sticky, uncomfortable mess
you desperately need something more; some friction to ease that ache in your clit and something inside of you to fill up your empty hole
and there’s yunho, your brothers best friend, standing above you looking like a fucking god
that’s all you need to push you over the edge
“yunho, please fuck me,” you whine, bringing a hand up to rest upon his wrist
your fingers wrap around it, tugging softly until his grip slips from your jaw
you drag it down, heading lower and lower until his hand catches on the duvet that still rests over your lower half
and then you stop, passing the proverbial ball to him; it’s in his court now and whatever happens next is up to him
whether he fucks you or not… it’s his choice
but you have no time to worry about what might not come to pass when he grabs the covers and tosses them to the side
his eyes hone in on those fucking shorts, and he swears he can feel his cock jump in his shorts
fucking hell, they’re practically see through with just how wet you are
he can see everything and what a delight that is
your pretty little pussy, wet and waiting for him to ruin it with his fingers, his cock, him cum
he needs so badly to see the real thing
“these damn shorts, baby,” he groans as he hooks his fingers over the waist band and tugs, “i might just have to keep them, if that’s okay with you?”
his words make your pussy clench, a sight that has him humming in appreciation
“i take that as a yes?” he tugs them down over your thighs, wasting no time in stripping your bottom half bare and tucking your shorts in the pocket of his pants.
with your glistening hole now exposed to him, he wastes no time in getting on his knees at the bottom of the bed
at first he just watches it, studying it as intensely as a college student studies their textbook the night before a final
you’re about to say something, to beg some more, when he reaches out a hand and slides a finger through your sopping folds
you gasp as he brushes it gently against you clit before pulling it away entirely, slipping it between his lips without so much as a second of hesitation
his eyes flutter closed and his cheeks hollow
the moan he lets out is nothing short of pornographic; you find yourself in awe of the show he’s putting on for you
“taste so good, honey,” he purrs as he tugs his finger free, “i’d eat you up forever, if you let me…”
he pauses, letting his eyes flicker up to meet yours
“will you let me?”
you nod, too dazed to say anything
“good girl…”
he wastes no time in laying down and throwing your legs over his shoulders
his giant hands find your thighs, gently caressing your smooth skin under the calloused tips of his fingers
they squeeze, kneading your flesh as he lowers his face to your aching core
“ready?” he hums, the word propelling a cool blast of air against your clit
you squirm and nod, but he shakes his head
“i really need your words this time, baby,” he says, “i’ve been lenient so far but i won’t do anything without your explicit permission; are you ready?”
“y-yes, yun…”
and just like that, he presses a soft kiss to your clit, the tip of his tongue just barely grazing it before he pulls away
it draws a whine through your gritted teeth
yunho chuckles before going back in to lick a stripe over your dripping hole
an obscene slurping sound echoing around the room as his tongue collects as much of your juices as he can before going back for more
he licks and prods are your hole, seeming to tease it until it leaks some more, all which his nose bumps gorgeously up against your clit
you hands fly to his hair, holding him against you in fear of him leaving you high and dry
he’s making you feel so good, the last thing you want is for this to stop
he just smiles against you as he feels the tug of your fingers in his locks, scraping his teeth against you in a way that has your body going limp
it’s even worse when he brushes them against your sensitive bud
you don’t quite register the sound your own mouth makes, too lost in the throws of pleasure to fully comprehend anything other than yunho
“so sweet, honey,” he grunts before he takes you clit between his lips
he suckles on it, hollowing his cheeks out as he pulses the pressure
he alternates between hard and soft sucks
it’s enough to make that knot in your stomach tighten
you’re getting close
“yuyu,” you cry as you let your hips buck into his mouth
it doesn’t phase him at all, so you carry on seeking your high
and when yunho sharpens his tongue to a point, letting you grind against the very top of it, that’s when you come undone
that’s when the knot snaps and your world turns white for just a second
fucking hell, yunho knows how to eat pussy…
he continues his ministrations for just a moment or two, letting you get it all out of your system before he pulls away and wipes his mouth on the back of his hand
“how was that, pretty girl?” he hums, “think you can take my cock next?”

RECOMMENDED NCT FICS OF NOVEMBER 2023💖
hello, hello! here are my nct recs of november! hopefully these beautiful stories get more recognition as well as the writers 💝
** anything in parentheses and bolded are my thoughts that can be disregarded if needed **
🔞smut || 💔angst || 💕fluff || ✅completed || 🔄ongoing || 💯favorite
Makeup, Make Out || @polarisjisung💕✅
↳ somewhere between testing eyeshadow palettes and mascara wands, renjun tests the prospect of loving you (i love me some soft renjun. soft renjun is prob in my top 5 fics to read about in nct. like how can you not enjoy reading soft renjun fics?????)
Ready For Love || @jnnul💕✅💯💯💯
↳ a boy who has never taken a relationship seriously. a girl who is seriously over relationships. when they end up finding each other, will they let their ideas of what a relationship should be like ruin their relationship before it even starts? (the concept of one person believing in one thing and the other person believing in another but they come to one accord to overcome the obstacle is amazing. literally as op has said in their warnings "match made in heaven", they truly are and i love that.)
Misses Suh? || @nctsplug02🔞💕✅💯
↳ (there was not exact summary, but if you remember the jeongs fics from this author then i present you the suhs. stop i freaking love these fics from them. i hope theres going to be more suhs.)
Silent Treatment || @polarisjisung💕💔✅
↳ your boyfriend broke some guy's nose for you, but what he doesn't realise is he also broke his promise to you (how does one give jeno the silent treatment???? easy, pretend to be oc cause thats what i did. LOL LIKE HOW CAN YOU GIVE THIS MAN THE SILENT TREATMENT. mans gonna be looking at you with them eyes and you are just gonna fold. gosh hes adorable and sht)
Trauma || @peanutpinet💕💔✅💯
↳ Being the son of the famous Nam Goongmin came with a heavy price to pay for Jaemin. Though Taeyong managed to get Jaemin out of his father’s mafia business and helped him to heal, there was still some trauma that Jaemin had yet to face. Until he came across a girl that he would soon learn that he can’t always run from his problems (the fact that the story lowkey connects with the other fics that they have is a gold mine. my ass is out here re-reading everything from the beginning aka the first one all the way to this one while i wait for the next one.)
Enough For You || @midmourn💔✅💯
↳ you wanted to be enough for mark, but no matter what you did, you weren't. (brb let me just sit in the corner real quick. stop, i need more angst nct fics to satisfy my angst side. like you can just feel the hurt that the oc is feeling, cause i know for a fact everyone has been through this once in their life time.)
I'm A Mouse, Duh! || @springseasonie🔞✅
↳ Nomin in police costumes and Y/N in a "mouse" costume (it's literally just lingerie). Will they fuck? Keep reading to find out! (1. i love the mean girls reference. that movie is a classic. 2. another roommate threesome, i may have a problem. BUT THATS FINE. this fic was hella good.)
I Wanna Make You Scream || @nctsplug02🔞✅💯💯💯
↳ (johnny in a scream mask?????????? sir???????? HELLOOOOOOOOO????? like god this fic is, oh child.)
Rent Is Due! || @starillusion13🔞✅💯
↳ (theres no summary, but do you know what else is due??? my insanity after reading this fic. like god dam. had to take a moment to breathe after finishing the fic.)
Strawberry Cough || @hazyhae🔞💕✅
↳ when your longtime bestie and plug moves out of town, he recommends one of his buddies to fill your weed needs. jaemin is glad to deliver that, and maybe even more. (the fact that jaemin automatically has a stock of the strawberry flavor for the oc is cute as sht. mans literally fell in love at first sight.)
The Day That I Met You I Started Dreaming || @nctstar💕✅💯
↳ You watched in satisfaction as the imprint of your lips stained a faded red colour, two semi-circles adorned by fine lines. The smell of strawberry wafted gently, so subtle you could have missed it. Yet, his voice rang in your ears. “You taste so sweet, baby. You always do.” (stop, i think this was one of the "long" jungwoo fics that i have read so far. i should start reading more jungwoo fics ngl. i honestly like how the story went. like it was at a good pace. not too rushed and not too slow, at the perfect pace. )
They're Roommate || @luvyeni🔞✅
↳ maybe those “jokes” your roommates play on you aren’t actually jokes (nomin threesome??? let me at it. lord have fcking mercy on me)
Young God || @jaeminvore🔞💕✅💯💯
↳ in which you were essentially scammed into cohabiting with a ridiculously clingy demon that lives off of sex. It could be worse. At least he staved off from sucking your soul out in exchange of you sucking something else—among other things (demon hyuck is a menace but hes a cute menace you know. hes gonna be like your bffl demon. i honestly fully enjoyed this one so much, like you dont understand. the mans a cute ass menace)
NCT 127 Texts || @phoxphenex💕✅💯
↳ Baby 127 Calling Dad on Tour (stop i cant wait for them to be parents. like these fans are gonna have to grow a pair of balls and suck it up that these mens are gonna be parents in the future. like can u imagine their kid just texting them. their kid will have them on their knees i swear.)
NCT Dream Texts || @jenosz💕✅💯
↳ Jeno boyfriend texts (the way that i fcking cackled at the first one. i cant, that was literal GOLD. ngl thats prob something i would say to my boo, if i had one LMAO)
NCT Dream Texts || @midmourn💕✅
↳ Your mom hasn't paid me this month (stop jisung would be the one to actually tell his mom. protect this lil sprout.)
8:57PM || @gyeomsweetgyeom💕✅
↳(faster/2 baddies era jaehyun has me on a fcking chokehold im not gonna lie.)
Do check out all of the other NCT Fics that i have reblogged as well!!
** if there is any fics that you guys would like to recommend, please do! i am slowly running out of fics to read **

Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. ****This character is tricky because he was explicitly raised as an orphan by his grandma, his father didn't sign his birth certificate (Korean equivalent of this), and he's registered as the child of his grandmother, not his actual mom. His grandma is dead by the beginning of the series and he is living alone without family, so I think he counts as an orphan.
Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness
#kdramas#so many orphans#you would think that Korean children never have parents who make it to 60#if they manage to be alive they are the worst

Parasite (2019)
Parasite is the kind of wholly original film that’s impossible to predict. It also has a lot to say about our world, which means there’s no way you’ll be able to catch everything on a single viewing. With plenty of dark laughs, the kind of suspense that will have your stomach in knots, an ending that sticks with you and masterful direction by Bong Joon-ho, it’ll knock you right off your feet - even if you’ve seen it before.
Kim Ki-taek (Song Kang-ho), his wife Chung-sook (Jang Hye-jin), their son Ki-woo (Choi Woo-shik) and daughter Ki-jeong (Park So-dam) make ends meet by snatching up whatever prospect comes their way. One day, Ki-woo finds a job tutoring Da-hye (Jung Ji-so), the daughter of the wealthy Park family. Sensing an opportunity, the Kims scheme, lie and fake their way into the household.
Part of what makes Parasite such a wild ride is that you never know who you should be cheering for or what the movie wants you to feel. When we first meet the Kim family, they’re scrambling around their dump of a semi-basement apartment looking for a free wifi signal so they can get a shipment of pizza boxes sent to them. Folding the boxes is how they’ll pay for their next meal. When they submit their work, part of their earnings is deducted because 25% of the boxes are badly folded. There are four family members. A quarter of the boxes are no good. Hmmm… There’s something funny and pathetic about the way they manage to screw up such a simple, honest job but excel at conning their way into the Park household. The more elaborate and extravagant their scam becomes, the more they thrive. You know it’s wrong, but there’s something "admirable" about their resourcefulness and determination. You don’t feel too bad for the Park family. Aside from Ki-jeong, everyone is actually doing the job they’ve been hired to do and there’s no way she’d get away with spinning her bullshit into dollars if Mrs. Park wasn’t such a dummy.
Then, your feelings about the Kims start changing. It’s one thing for them to exploit the Parks, whose wealth is wasted on them but this quest to get all of them on the same payroll means taking away jobs from other people. As we eventually find out, the current housekeeper of the Park family, Gook Moon-gwang (Lee Jung-eun) REALLY needs this job they’re stealing from her. As the film progresses, Bong Joon-ho shows us how the lap of luxury has made the Parks into ugly, entitled snobs. The more we see of the parents (Lee Sun-kyun and Cho Yeo-jeong), the less we like them. The thing is, the Kims are not much better. They’re also recklessly gobbling up the jobs in their employer’s household at the expense of everyone else. The people currently employed? they’re obstacles to be toppled over, not people with similar plights to their own. They never have a goal to make enough money to move into a nicer home. Their goal becomes to have THIS home, a building they know is too much for two parents and two children. While all of these people are on opposite ends of the financial spectrum, they both disregard others equally.
It would be criminal to give away the big surprises that come at the end of the film - and you probably wouldn’t believe me if I told you what they were anyway. Revealing all the intricacies of the scam would be just as heinous. The proof is that even upon multiple viewings, it’s a horrifying delight to see it play out the way it does. I do want to discuss the very very last scene, however. In the film, it’s presented as hopeful, a long-term strategy Ki-woo will follow to get the family what they desire the most. It all seems good but when you take a step back, you realize how hopeless it is. That final moment is about how wide a gap is between the rich and the poor. It's not about leaving us with a smile on our faces. It’s not as clear as it would be in a documentary but it’s a thousand times more impactful - and entertaining.
Parasite is mesmerizing, the kind of film you want to watch over and over so you can fully appreciate everything. It’s full of surprises, masterfully directed and certainly as good as everyone is saying it is. (Original Korean with English Subtitles, July 25, 2022)

Boys Planet Episode 3-4 Recaps: Love Me Right
If you’re following the MNET show Boys Planet, you probably know by now that the editors are extremely irritating. For a song “mission” like this, they show 2-3 minute montages of some of the teams practicing, then fast forward to show time passing, then make it look like the performance will start any moment, and then have a lengthy flashback before we finally get to see the performance.
So, I made a main recap that takes you through episodes 3 and 4 in a linear way, but then when it comes to focusing on each team, I’ll put all those thoughts in a separate post so you can keep the storylines straight. This post covers the Love Me Right teams’ rehearsal and performance.
The Teams
K team:
Leader: Lee Hoe Taek (Hui),
Other members: Han Seo Bin, Kim Gyu Vin, Lee Jeong Hyeon, Lee Ye Dam, Oh Sung Min, Sung Han Bin
Most of these members you’ll recognize from the show already, but here’s a reminder:
Lee Hoe Taek is Hui. If you’re wondering, he’s 29 and has been ranked #6 in both episodes 2 and 3.
Han Seo Bin is 16, auditioned with Freak, fell from 4 stars to 3, and was ranked 70th and then 66th.
Kim Gyu Vin is 18, auditioned with Kick It, fell from 4 stars to 3, and was ranked 5th and then 4th.
Lee Jeong Hyeon is 20, auditioned with The Real, was 3 stars the whole time, and was ranked 35th and then 43rd.
Lee Ye Dam is 20, auditioned with Gambler, was 4 stars the whole time, and was ranked 45th and then 47th, which is a fucking crime because boy is pure talent.
Oh Sung Min is 21, auditioned with Bloom Bloom, rose from 2 stars to 3, was ranked 17th and then 24th. He’s a member of NINE.i and that might explain his high rank.
Sung Han Bin, the nation’s sweetheart, is 21 and has been ranked #1 this whole time.
G team:
Leader: Wumuti
Other members:
Dang Hong Hai, Anthonny, Haru, Haruto, Jay, Winnie
Wumuti is 23 and auditioned with UN Village. He was ranked 49 and then 51, and rose from 2 stars to 3. He’s Chinese
Dang Hong Hai is 19 and auditioned with View. He was ranked 25 and then 29, and rose from 2 stars to 3. He’s Thai.
Anthonny is 19 and auditioned (with Haruto) to Glitch Mode. He was ranked 8th and then 11th, and was 3 stars he whole time. He’s Japanese.
Haruto is 18 and auditioned with (with Anthonny) to Glitch Mode. He was ranked 39th and then 20th, and was 4 stars the whole time. He’s Japanese.
Haru is 17 and auditioned with Maniac. He was ranked 53rd and then 64th, and was 2 stars the whole time. He’s Japanese.
Jay is 21 and auditioned with Rush Hour. He was ranked 30th and then 8th, and has been 4 stars the whole time. He’s from the USA.
Winnie is 24 and auditioned with Kokobop. He was ranked 77th and then 73rd, and has been 1 star the whole time. He’s Thai, and is a member of NINE.i with other trainees on the show.
Team Selection:
Both of these were the first teams selected. Hui selected for K team, and Dang Hong Hai picked for G team.
I think Dang Hong Hai made a few weird choices -- why not grab Na Kamden, or anyone who Keita picked (especially Matthew, Keita himself, or Zhang Hao)? It feels like he picked people he liked as people or knew well, as opposed to the best trainees.
Episode 3, 1:24:59
Part Selection
As we begin, we learn that Haruto is considered the strongest rapper in G-section, and that apparently on the first day, Haruto and Lee Jeong Hyeon got into a rap battle over the #1 chair, and Jeong Hyeon won. From the clip we see, Haruto did really well actually, but they both did.
Naturally, they all want to go for the Killing Part, except Sung Hanbin who says, “Honestly I want to do it, but I did the killing part for the Signal Song.” He interviews that others might do better, and also, they deserve the chance to shine. Either he really is just that sweet, or he knows the real battle is for the world’s hearts, which he’s winning.
Mop-headed Kim Gyuvin, who I’m quite fond of, tries for the killing part first, and then the talented Lee Yedam tries -- and at 1:26:45 sings the song in its original key, suggesting that he has a very strong sense of pitch. (Seriously, go to about 45 seconds in to the video and listen to it back to back with Yedam -- he’s perfectly on key without any accompaniment.) Damn this boy can sing and dance, I can’t with him. He gets the killing part, and rightfully so.
Meanwhile, we see that Jay has been chosen for the Killing Part over on team G, and Wumuti gets chosen for main vocal.
Of course, K-team choose Hui to be their main vocal -- what kind of lunatics would NOT give it to one of the best vocalists in K-pop -- and that puts extra pressure on Wumuti. He talks about it with his team, and with Jay, and they agree that maybe Jay should be main vocal and Wumuti should take the Killing Part.
“Is it really ok?” … “Yes, really.”
Jay says the most important thing is that the team succeeds, and while he doesn’t say this, it’s obvious that Main Vocal will get him plenty of attention too. If he loses to Hui, it’s no big deal, but if he somehow beats Hui, or even comes in a close second, that would be a huge win.
Once Jay starts singing, Hui listens with happy interest -- Jay’s “pop” vibe (not a K-pop vibe, a pop vibe) inspires Hui to find his own vibe. I feel like that is how Hui goes through life. Like a car will honk its horn or a cat will meow at him and he’ll be like, “yeah, I like that sound…. How can I make that into a song??”
And now, we skip ahead to 2:27:55. The teams are backstage, getting a last minute pep talk from their leaders. Hui says, “Are you ready to have fun?” and they all say “yeah!” Wamuti lays the pressure on, saying, “All our weeks of practice come down to this moment.” Pretty heavy, dude. But he adds, “Let’s have fun regardless,” and I mean, yeah.
We see them coming up through their respective stupid tunnels:
… like they’re gladiators or something. This is silly.
And here they all are:
Looks like Seung Hanbin is the center now, because he’s wearing such a different outfit from the others…. Hmm.
Backstage, both G-team and K-team say that they think their team will win.
They each get to introduce themselves with their made up team names and stuff.
When it’s G-group’s turn, they give greetings in six different languages -- Anthonny says “good evening” in Tagalog, which is interesting!
Time to go to a flashback.
They’re in vocal rehearsal, and they have a special Rap Master sitting in to help these trainees prepare for an EXO song. Look, you guys know that I love EXO. They’re my ults. I adore them. They’re not really rappers. Like, I’m not so far gone as to think that Chanyeol is a great rapper. Bring the special rap master to the BTS song, or even the Blackpink song, but not here…?
Anyway. I admit I have no idea who Lil Boi is, and I don’t have the energy to find out.
G-group sings first, and obviously Jay is fantastic, and Haruto’s rapping is good -- I’m so glad, because I do like Haruto and don’t want him to embarrass himself with bad singing. Overall, their vocals sound good.
K-team goes second, and they also mostly sound good, but could just be cleaned up a bit. But the judges come down really hard on Lee Yedam and Hui. They say that K-team needs more teamwork, and think that Hui’s ad lib didn’t sound good, but I liked it. I really think this is some gaslighting shit.
Then they let the rappers go, Lee Jung Hyun and Haruto, and again, the judges prefer Haruto. I mean, they both sounded fine to me, but I’m not a Rap Master so what do I know.
Then they hear from the main vocals and give a useful note -- that Hui’s choice to do a different adlib from the original might throw people off. The Onestar tells Jay he might be a better vocalist than himself. All I know is that none of them is better than D.O. and that’s where my opinion ends. Jay has a lovely vocal color but isn’t nearly as well trained as Hui and I hear pitchiness that I don’t usually hear with Hui. It’s fine if people prefer Jay’s vocal color, which is great, and Jay is obviously trained too, and I think he’s also great. I just don’t know if I’d go so far as to paint him as like, the world’s best vocalist.
Anyway it’s time for the performance.
Overall, really good but not excellent.
I think they were all overdancing a little and it looked a tiny bit weird. Jay sounded perfect -- well, I think I heard a weird ad lib toward the end but that might not have been him -- but Wumuti and Anthonny were a little shaky in their vocals, and I thought they were all being too CYOOT. The hearts on the hands -- which got all smudgy with sweat and kind of didn’t work for me -- the overdramatic community theater faces, I don’t know, it didn’t fit the song for me.
See, Love Me Right is about confidence. It’s like, “You and me, baby, we’re going to fly up into the stars together, and we’re totally going to do it, and it’s going to be great, and you’re going to love it, and we’re going to like, orbit the moon with just the force of our love, so get over here and let’s go.” It’s not at all “I think you’re pretty, please tell me you like me as much as I like you!!” But that was the vibe they were giving.
Am I just being harsh because I love this song, and if Kai isn’t in the front being Kai at me I can’t love it? Maybe? I don’t know.
They were really good, you guys. But this wasn’t like with Keita’s team on Kill This Love where I watched it and thought, let me watch this again. This was like, “Oh, that was good -- good job, boys!” And then I was cool.
The MNET editing is kind, and we see a reaction shot from Hui almost every time that Jay opens his mouth, reminding us that Jay is really good. Jay is really good. I hope he debuts. I love good vocalists! I will also admit that something about Jay rubs me the wrong way and I don’t know why. I cannot explain it at all. I get this vibe like he’s really fake -- like he knows the personality that the people at home want to see, and he’s doing that. But I might be wrong about that, and anyway, personality doesn’t matter as much to me as talent does when it comes to whose singing I want to listen to. I don’t think I’d want to hang out with Chen from EXO, tbh -- he seems kind of serious and dour? -- but godDAMN do I love listening to that man SING. FUCK. I’m so lucky to live in a world with EXO in it. Sigh.
Of course, the reaction backstage from the trainees is over the top. Every G-group trainee was proud to count Jay on their team. The judges say that they all did well, which is like, I don’t know, I think some of the vocals were a little weak, but I don’t know, it’s an EXO song and my ear is used to perfection.
The show teases us that after that, the K-team will perform, but of course they won’t. We’ll have to wait until episode 4!
At 1:40:45 of Episode 4, we finally get back to Love Me Right.
We’re in vocal rehearsal, and the judges are coming down hard on Lee Yedam for not having quite enough “punch” to his vocals, or enough stage presence, or something.
After the big group evaluation, the forms from the other trainees indicate that Lee Yedam needs improvement, which surprises the other team members. He didn’t really mess up at all, but there was just something kind of missing from the performance for no real reason.
So Lee Yedam suggests that someone might do a better job with the killing part than he does, and they talk about it. Hui says he picked the members with this song in mind, and kind of pictured Seung Hanbin in the Killing Part. They decide to give the killing part to nation’s sweetheart Seung Hanbin, and I feel bad for Yedam but it probably is good for the team. There don’t seem to be any hard feelings for anyone.
Seung Hanbin also leads dance practice and does a really good job, explaining clearly, even little things like whether to spread fingers or keep them together. He interviews that he also likes to check in with his teammates and talk to them about how they’re doing. It’s like, he’s the real leader.”
Here he is, creating an accidental renaissance painting with mop-headed charmer Kim Gyu Vin.
Is anyone going to clean those windows, MNET?
Gyuvin worries that he can’t quite get the choreo down, even though he’s trying his best. Gyuvin is so grateful for Hanbin’s kindness that he wants to live with him to repay him.
Hanbin interviews, “Originally, my dream was to become a counselor and elementary school teacher. I think I’m able to live out that dream here.” And women across the world pass out in delight.
At dress rehearsal, Hui does an extra high ad lib, and it doesn’t sound great. The vocal teachers advise him to pull back a bit. Will he?
The performance:
It’s fucking perfect. I have nothing to say. I love this song and their performance is great. All of the vocals, all of the rapping, all the dancing, it’s all perfect. Seung Hanbin is perfect, Lee Yedam sings sweetly, they’re all perfect, Hui does amazingly, he throws his microphone around, it’s all great. I’d strongly recommend that you just watch the Youtube version because the MNET edit is intolerable.
The only thing of note is that Hui does not in fact do that one extra high ad lib but he ads another ridiculously high ad lib later on. My theory is that this other ad lib would have been new to the audience, so if he didn’t hit the notes he meant to hit, no one would know that it was a mistake.
This was the first time since Hui joined the show that I thought that going on it actually showed off his abilities.
I know I already said this but the MNET editing is INTOLERABLE. I can’t bear it. Now is as good at time as any to mention that this was fucking hilarious -- someone edited the real EXO performance of Love Me Right as if it were on Boys Planet and it was delightful.
The judges love the performance, and the other trainees basically can’t believe it.
I feel like Wumuti's face says it all.
The Results
The votes are in.

K team wins, 557 to 206.
I’m bummed at Lee Yedam’s low votes -- he’s unlikely to ever be many people’s “one pick” but boy do I want that guy to debut. I hope he will.
On the G side, of course I feel bad for all of them. I’m too tender hearted to watch a show like this, I swear. Wumuti is obviously struggling to hold back tears, and others are full on crying. All these poor guys on the G-team who get ignored half the time.... I hope they all find a safe place to land.
The K group celebrates, and the G group consoles. They all loved their teams and are proud of each other.
And that’s the end of this review!

RECORD OF YOUTH // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU

Park Bo-Gum’un askere gitmeden önce çektiği son dizi Record of Youth tam anlamı ile kaybedenlerin hikayesi olmuş.
Defile sırasında Hye-Jun’a makyöz olarak An Jeong-Ha (Park So-Dam) denk gelir.
Park Bo-Gum’u “Love in the Moonlight” dizisi ile tanıyorum.
Park So-Dam ise “Cinderella and the four knights” dizisinin Cinderellası olarak hayatıma girmişti.
