#Jason knows this kid is kinda dead like him though still different

Note
(inspired by that post you were talking about + other comments I’ve noticed around recently) I think it’s funny how people will conflate the word “abuse” with “assault” to make Jason look extra bad (he did not abuse Mia or Tim. He is not in an intimate relationship with them. He’s an enemy that attacked them, these are superhero comics you would not call Two Face Dick’s “abuser” be serious for one moment), but when it comes to situations where there is a relationship with an ingrained power imbalance (Bruce and his children for example), nobody knows how to use the word “abuse” anymore
People can't simply say they dislike a character because they don't vibe with them and that's it anymore. I just can't get behind that, personally. (But then again, for me, the worst sin a character can "committ" is being boring and uninteresting...)
Everything has to be dressed up in therapy speak and words that don't mean exactly what people think they mean... such as abuse, like you said, which would imply a power imbalance which does not exist between Jason and Mia or Jason and Tim (of course, though, if you want to write an *AU* where he gets into a relationship with either of those characters (or any other character), and abuses them due to the dynamic you're going to develop, I say go for it, you do you.)
Although *personally* I think it's kinda a bit out there to put Jason in the role of an abuser, tbh... he doesn't really have that kind of power over anyone (arguably he has over Bruce, but does he really? I think you could write him that way in fic and it would be reasonable depending on how you write it, because Bruce is (very) susceptible to some kinds of moralistic manipulation, but in canon, of course, we only see the opposite where the dynamic of Jason and Bruce is concerned (or Bruce any of the other "batkids").
The damage to fandom's perception of Jason simply because in a lot of his official art he looks like a forty year old is so bad (though I don't particularly think he looked that old in the GA issues in particular, from what I remember). (Or because he's ugly too, let's not forget that DC (well, actually, not exclusive to DC by any means) is always pushing the ugliness = evilness thing. And like, Jason is so ugly in a lot of his comics, including UTH).
And the damage that Teen Titans Vol 3 29 caused for the experience of being a Jason fan is... [redacted]
Also, let me take the opportunity to say that I don't think either of those situations were OOC for Jason. I mean, not that I've heard that many opinions that the GA issues were OOC for him, but I definitely have seen a lot of "Titans Tower was OOC, Jason would never." (that difference is, of course, due to the fact that a lot more people care about Tim Drake than about Mia Dearden, because both situations are quite similar).
*CANON* Titans Tower, as it happened (i.e. Jason beat Tim, skill issue, Tim was sassing Jason *while* being beaten) was not OOC.
Going back to the "abuse" thing, and also to the age-difference that people love to stretch - Jason was treating both Mia and Tim as equals when going after them like that... there wasn't in any way a vibe of "going after kids because they are easy" (and of course, if we analyse these events from the standpoint of Jason having been dead + catatonic for a long period, in the meta we could propose that that sort of idea would've never even crossed his mind).
*ALSO* you do you, and you write anything you want in fanfic. Believe me, I'm not a stickler to canon in the fanfic I read/write in most fandoms I'm in (and even if I were, the "you write whatever you want" still stands). And fandom is fandom, so of course a thing like Teen Titans Vol 3 29 would be explored to hell and back in fanfic. I just complain a lot about it because, mind you, I nowadays filter out Tim's character tag (unless I'm in the mood to maybe look for a Jaytim fic that I can read, since, on average, the Tim/Jason fics are better characterized than Tim & Jason ones), and I still get sooooo many fics where Jason is angsting about "the horrors he committed" there. I guess that made me bitter. But oh well... it is what it is.
Thank you for the ask! And sorry for derailing lol

Half-Lives: Chapter 2
Read here:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/48120073/chapters/121402672
“You’re kidding, right?”
“Nope!” Best burgers in Gotham!”
Danny suspected his new friend was enjoying the look on his face a little too much. And to be fair, Jason would know better than Danny would. He did live here. He shouldn’t be this skeptical, given his favorite place to eat back home. Tourists in Amity had been a bit put off by a place literally called “The Nasty Burger” but it had been the best spot in town. So this shouldn’t be so weird. But…
“Do they all wear costumes?” “Yup!” Because yeah. The cashier was wearing tights. And a cape. And a rumpled looking domino mask held on with a string. “Which robin is that even supposed to be?” Because Danny wasn’t super familiar with the difference between the local vigilante’s costumes, but this didn't really look like any of the pictures he’d seen.
Jason looked slightly less gleeful at that. “Honestly… not sure.” he was squinting in the window at the register now. “Kinda looks like the first robin, but I think those are supposed to be Red Robin’s bandoliers.” “Why on earth does this city have a Batman themed fast food restaurant?”
“Why on earth not?” Jason shrugged. “Come on, I’m starving.” Danny followed him inside, and then quietly reaffirmed his decision not to look into fast food jobs when the cashier grimaced, visibly braced himself, and asked if he could take their bat-order in the most horrifyingly cheerful voice he’d ever heard. He frequently talked to dead people who sounded more alive. I’m already dead. Don’t think I could handle being soulless too.
“Hi Benny!” Jason walked up to the counter like he came here daily. Which he might, for all Danny knew. They were only a few blocks from the roof he’d met him on, and he probably lived there. “Rough night?”
“Hi Jason.” The cashier, Benny apparently, looked slightly less strained when he walked over. “Not really. It’s been slower than usual.” “Yeah, it has, hasn’t it?” Jason looked almost put out at that. “The usual?” Benny was already moving to type something in on the register. “Yeah please. What do you want, Danny?” “Erm…” Danny scanned the menu briefly, and ordered the first thing that looked good. Then paused as his stomach complained again, and ordered a second burger and extra fries as well. And maybe also a hand pie.
He started to pull out his wallet, but promptly got distracted by the sight of the fry-cook in the back wearing a Batman costume. Which looked stupid. And so miserably hot. Why? What was even the point? By the time he looked back at the register, Jason had paid for both of their orders while he wasn’t looking. “Hey hey woah, dude, I can pay for mine, you don’t have to get that!” “Nah, I got it.” Which was just, so not ok! Danny had ordered a ton of food, and Jason lived in Crime Alley! He probably wasn’t all that well off, and he definitely shouldn’t be paying for a ravenous half ghost stranger's food! “Hey relax man, I mean it. It’s no big deal.” “No big-? Do you normally feed trespassers you catch on your roof in the middle of the night?” Jason paused for a moment. Then, seeming to make some sort of decision, grinned roguishly at Danny while he grabbed a cup. “Nah, only the cute ones.” And walked away towards the drink fountain while Danny blue-screened. Oh. Oh no. Hot guy flirting. Danny was so screwed.
They filled up their cups at the fountain, (Danny was screaming internally just a little bit) and then Jason went to claim a corner booth to wait for their order. Danny realized that he had been completely distracted from the whole paying the bill thing. He should probably just go with it.
As they sat down, Danny took a moment to really look Jason over in the light of the restaurant. He was, just maybe, not quite as scary as he’d seemed on a dimly lit rooftop. He was still really big though. And looked like he might be able to bench press Danny a guy without straining. He had short black hair with a tuft of white hair in the front that almost looked too bright to be dyed, and really striking blue-green eyes. His clothes were plain, but sturdy looking and well made. His shirt was really tight. He looked great in combat boots.
He also felt like he might, maybe, be ecto-contaminated. It was hard to tell. Whatever it was, it was low enough that Danny hadn’t noticed anything until they’d shaken hands on the roof. Even then, it was hard to get a read on, and nowhere near enough to set off his ghost sense. If he’d met Jason in Amity, he didn’t think he’d have noticed at all. It was odd to find someone like that here though. There was plenty of ambient ectoplasm in the air in Gotham, but he hadn’t noticed any effect on the people who lived with it. Where would the guy even have come into contact with a high enough concentration of the stuff for it to leave a mark? He got broken out of his thoughts when Jason started the conversation up again.
“You must be really new in town if you haven't been to Batburger yet. When’d you move in?” “Ah, just over the weekend. Only got into my apartment Saturday.” “Mm, ok, yeah. You haven't had your’ first rogue attack yet then, huh? Nothing’s happened in weeks.”
“Uh, no. I haven't.” Danny would like to keep it that way, thanks. He’d had more than enough of constant attacks by malevolent entities in High School. He wanted to be able to sleep once in a while. “You been mugged yet?” Danny almost choked on a sip of his drink. “Who just asks that? Casually?” “A Gothamite.” Jason grinned at him from across the table. “Getting robbed or held at gunpoint or taken hostage by whoever broke out of Arkham this week is a right of passage.” Great. He should feel right at home then. “In all seriousness though, have you run into trouble yet? This city’s no joke, even when you know your way around.” Danny glanced down at the table. “I'm fine. I can handle it.” Jason raised an eyebrow at that. “Look, I know, ok? I’m not taking this lightly or being careless. I know I don’t look like it, but I can take care of myself.” He could. Not that he was about to explain the ghost powers to anybody. Gotham was a rough place, but Danny was a tough person. He’d had to be. It wasn’t like he had anywhere else to go anyway. Their order came up, and Danny waved Jason down while he got up to go grab it. He should take the opportunity to change the subject. The fewer questions got asked about where he was from, the better.
The food did actually smell really good. Carrying it back to the table reminded him how hungry he was. He hurriedly sat down, pulled his burger out of its greasy paper wrapping, and tore into it like… well like he hadn’t eaten in almost three days. It was good. Different from anything at the Nasty Burger, but it tasted great! Jason had also started eating, and the table was silent for a few minutes while they worked their way through the first burgers in the stack. _________________________________________ Danny ate like he hadn't seen food in a week. Watching him attack a hamburger like a rabid coyote would have been funny if it hadn’t been mildly concerning. Jason took a moment to think while they both ate, and tried to puzzle out why he felt so… off kilter. He kinda liked Danny. And that was part of the weird stuff. He’d barely even met him. Knew nothing about him. Jason was a crime lord and a vigilante, it paid to be suspicious of strangers. He shouldn’t be this open to liking the guy this soon. But, Danny felt… safe. Soothing almost. The nerves he’d been feeling all day had calmed down a bit.
He had also turned an adorable shade of red when Jason tried flirting. He’d wondered if he’d overstepped for a second, but it hadn't seen like he minded, just like he’d been caught off guard. (He had also definitely been checking Jason out on the way to the table.) Jason had still backed off a bit though. He didn’t want to make him uncomfortable if the attention wasn’t wanted.
His hand still felt cold where he had touched Danny’s skin. It’s still like 80 outside, how the fuck are his hands that cold? Could he be a meta? Did he have ice powers or something? Jason had no idea, but something about the contact had felt hauntingly familiar. That didn’t mean he wasn’t worried about him. He danced around questions about where he was from in a way Jason had seen from way too many street kids. The possible lack of access to food and the worn-down clothes were also not good signs. Jason couldn’t see any obvious bruises or scrapes, but he thought he might have seen the edge of some scarring peeking out from under his shirt. Danny apparently did have an apartment, but the lack of AC probably meant it probably wasn’t the best place. He hadn’t mentioned anyone else living with him either, and Jason couldn’t tell if that was good or bad.
Danny finally slowed down half way through his second burger, and Jason took the chance to ask another question. “You know anybody in Gotham?” Danny paused, chewing for a moment before swallowing. “No, not really.”
“No relatives or friends? University?” “Uh, no. My family’s still back west. And I’m not here for school.” “Work then?”
Danny chuckled a bit. “I’m actually looking for a job. Haven't been here long enough to get established yet.” Currently unemployed, but not homeless at least. “How’re you affording the apartment while you look? You got a roommate?”
“Oh, no. I had some savings. It’s enough to pay rent for a few months, I just need to find work ASAP.”
All right, so he did have somewhat of a safety net for the moment. That was good. “What kind of jobs are you looking at?” “Uh, well. I don’t qualify for a whole lot. I was actually going to start with looking into delivery jobs. Just about all the restaurants in my neighborhood do takeout, somebody’s gotta be hiring.” He took another bite. Chewed. “If that doesn’t work, I’ll look for whatever. I haven't actually had a lot of time to think about it yet. You know anything in the area I could look into?” Ah. That, Jason might be able to help with. This was his turf. He knew it inside and out. “Hmm” He took a second to work on his fries while he thought about it. “Yeah I might.” There were a few places nearby that might legitimately be hiring. But there were also a few businesses in the Alley that would hire someone if Red Hood asked. He had used them before to get alley kids and folks down on their luck a job. The small business owners in the area couldn’t always afford to pay the help they needed, so in a few cases Jason had paid the wages himself. The business got new staff, a kid got off the streets, and Jason got to do something useful with Bruce’s money. “I think there’s a few places I know that might have positions open. I’d have to check though.” He took a sip of his drink to wash down the last of his fries, and rummaged around in his pocket for his phone. “What’s your number? I’ll send you some info on places you can check out.” Danny raised an eyebrow. “My number? For job recommendations?” The corner of his mouth tugged up a bit. “No other reason?” “Ha! Well,” Jason smiled back. “There might be another reason.” Danny grinned back, and pulled out his own phone. “Sure, I can do that.”
_________________________________________
It was still hot outside. Danny somehow managed to forget that until he stepped out the door of the restaurant. The un-conditioned air hit his face like he’d been slapped with a warm, damp towel. Why did it have to be so humid? Jason didn’t look particularly thrilled to be back outside either. At least they were both suffering.
Danny felt awkward again. “Hey, thanks for the food man. You really didn’t have to.”
“Again, no problem.” Jason pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and started to light one. “It was nice chatting with somebody.” He looked over at Danny for a moment. “You gonna be able to get home all right?” “Oh, yeah I should be fine. It’ll take me a bit but I know where I’m going.” He did. He’d looked up where the Batburger was so he could find his way back to the apartment. Jason puffed on his cigarette a bit. He looked concerned again. “How far away are you?” “Ah, a few miles?” “A few miles?” Alarmed now. “I thought you were out for a walk on the roofs!?” “I was?” “You traveled a few miles on the roofs!? What are you, a bat ?!” “Uh..” “Dude. You want a ride home? I’ve got a bike.” “Um, I’ll be fine. It really didn't take all that long to get here.” Jason dragged in a breath around his smoke and grumbled something too low and garbled for Danny to make out. It kinda sounded like he mentioned the bats again though. Let the breath back out. “You sure? I’ve got an extra helmet.” He started walking back down the street towards what Danny assumed was his apartment. “Nah, it’s fine. Really. I can get around. It’s kinda fun actually.” “You sound like my brother.” Jason sighed. “Fine.” He stuffed his phone and the box of cigarettes back in his pocket. “I’ll see if anyone I know is hiring and send you the details.” “That would be great man, thanks.” Danny smiled. “No pressure, I’m sure I can find something.” Danny looked up at the building as they approached it. “Could I use the stairs to get back on your roof again? _________________________________________ “Sure, why not.” Jason glanced over at him as they started climbing. He still wasn’t sure he shouldn’t just be insisting Danny let him drive him home. He kept saying he could take care of himself, but Jason wasn’t so confident. He opened the roof access door for the second time that night, and leaned up against the wall of the stairwell while Danny moved over towards the closest neighboring building. … “Hey, be careful. You’re not as likely to get mugged up here, but you can still run into people you don’t want to mess with.” “Oh, whaaat? But the last scary guy I talked to on a roof bought me dinner!” “You planning on making a habit of talking to scary guys on roofs?” “Nah,” Danny’s smile gained a smug teasing edge, and for a moment his teeth looked way to sharp. “Only the cute ones!”
Jason choked on a lungful of smoke. It only distracted him for a second, but when he looked back up, Danny was gone. Fuck. Really, really have to keep him away from Batman.
_________________________________________ Danny made it back to his apartment quickly and without incident. He probably shouldn't have disappeared like that, but he was still stifling low giggles over the face Jason had made when he'd turned around. It had been worth it. He phased in through his window, landed on his slightly creaky floor. And then stopped. He cursed, and smacked his palm into his face. He'd forgotten to get a fan.

Jason's past info reveal on EP. Five X My own thoughts...
After playing the latest episode of MCL New Gen I had to do this post because when Jason told us about his father I almost fell of my chair screaming "OMG I WAS RIGHT???!!!!!" For those who didn't play the episode 5 yet: 🚨⚠️spoilers 🚨⚠️
So... I had this feeling that Beemoov was going to introduce a family drama for Jason, particularly involving his father, to justify his poor behavior, ya know? Like...: the typical story where the teenager loses his father, faces family problems and ends up becoming bitter and tough because of it. The whole "family is a mess" narrative LOL (I honestly hate that concept of "You can heal she/he" thing that usually come together with this kinda plot, that's why even though I made a difficult past for Jason in my fic, he secretly goes into therapy often... so Candy won't need to worry about being a damn "healer" for him 😂)
In fact, I even considered killing his father when Jason was a teenager in my fanfic because I was so sure his dad was dead. But then I thought, "No... Beemoov wouldn't use that cliché of the man who lost his father too soon and had to take on family responsibilities at 18, right? What a drama!"
So, today I'm here to justify the plot I thought about to you: I didn't kill off Jason's father in my fanfic because in my mind it would be too obvious and cliché. Instead, I wanted to explore a different angle that still included family issues and could add depth into Jason's character. But then... I realized that my own story also ended up being quite dramatic LMAO 🤣😅🤐
The way I created Jason's family tragedy, I know it got intense, and sometimes I feel like such a villain for it (~crying in author language~). For a kid, it must be very though waking up from an accident and listening "So... Your father is in a coma. We don't know if he'll wake up or no. He can live but he can also die suddenly, be prepared." And then you wake up everyday hoping your father will wake up but he didn't and you get nothing instead of a fake hope that the next day will be different... You are unsure if he's going to live or die. You didn't lost the person, but you lost its presence, voice, bad jokes, caring, etc. However, you still don't want to lose hope. So, for Jason kid it was like "I'll do my best everyday so when papa wakes up he'll be proud of me :D"
I decided to put Jason's father (I named him as Gregory) through a coma when Jason was a kid for two main reasons: 1) Give Jason a motivation and 2) don't make him deal with "taking care family matters out of the blue" once he was too young.
> That leads to his uncle (named Viktor) accompanying Jason's growth and teaching him everything about the family business, being a leader and etc. Of course Viktor had an aggressive method once Jason father's part of the family is crap and cruel (as I shared on this post).
Despite growing up with his uncle filling his head with nonsense about love being a weakness and such things, young Jason didn't want to be bitter and iced-heart like that. (Yep, he was a hectic kid but that doesn't mean he was evil, he just liked to have fun messing around.) He remembered his father being kind and gentle, almost as if he wanted to break the tough mold of the family. But later Jason faced many disappointments because, being from a wealthy family, (BTW, I got kinda sad when Jason said they were not rich in the EP 5, but now that's done and I don't regret describing his family the way I did once we didn't have any information hehehe) many people around them were fake. He also suffered bullying for being skinny, so... All of those bad things led him to think around the age of 16-17: "Well, there's no other way. When I'm not at home I'll have to put on this mask that my uncle taught me so others won't walk all over me."
However, internally Jason still held hope that Gregory would wake up someday and... Within his good heart, there was the desire of wanting to make his dad proud ~if he woke up~ Jason had as a kid > it still remained there in his mind, so he gave his best effort in everything they put he to do back that time. But at a certain point there was so much pressure on the poor boy that he ended up having a breakdown. 'Do this' 'Don't do that' 'Be perfect' 'Get good grades' 'Blah blah blah'... At the age of 18-19 Jason found himself having like those "I'VE HAD ENOUGH!" moments of life LOL 🤣 He never really liked everything the Mendal stood for, anyway. He always found it a drag to attend luxury dinners, close deals and pretend to be someone he wasn't… Jason ended up becoming a rebellious young-adult despite being studious and dedicated to his goals.
And then things got worse when Jason was near his 20-21 years old: his father sadly woke up in a minimally conscious state. (So: today his father is not dead, but he's not "living" as well. You know? When someone is awake but can't talk, move, etc. sometimes the person can exhibit limited and inconsistent responses to external stimuli, but that's all.) I think that was the "breaking point". Jason got deeply disappointed: He felt like everything he had done in his entire life was for nothing. As a result, the dark-haired began to exhibit dysfunctional behavior, skipping work at the family company, arriving late etc, etc. Viktor took advantage of this moment of weakness and convinced the board/the general council that Jason became irresponsible, went off the rail and therefore was unfit for any leadership position and would never be good enough to take the vice president or president's company role. That made our hated beloved protagonist really angry, it felt like a big betrayal for him. Following that, in a fit of impulsivity, Jason had those moments of "'Fuck you guys. I don't need you idiots. My family sucks and I'll prove them that I can make it on my own without using my father's name.' And that's why he resigned from his position and began working on something else, which would later culminate in the founding of Goldreamz. (Fortunately, this was the moment he decided to start seeing a therapist again, for our sake's.)
Well... I gave you too many spoilers of the fic already, so, basically: Jason’s past sucks and his journey in my point of view is intertwined with themes of redemption, ambition, growing and a desire to protect those he cares about besides his own heart ~which he chooses to not open up with random people. He's not an asshole/jerk, but he decides consciously to behave as if he is one because a bunch of internal reasons. (His therapist is still trying to work on that btw 👀) Jason only shows his truly self when he with his mom, brother, close friends and some of his mother's relatives. (And hopefully, near Candy... As time goes by and they fall for each other) Selective behavior, ya know? It is common for people undergoing therapy to selectively share their true feelings and thoughts with a trusted inner circle, while emotionally protecting themselves from others. Besides, we must remember that therapy is a long and sometimes non-linear process: Jason may resist complete changes, preferring to maintain a protective behavior while slowly working on his internal issues. Jason does not intend to change it, actually. He's happy with only the people he cares about knowing who he truly is... He's like: "bitch, I don't care" about the others. 😅😆
With all of that said: I can’t wait to delve deeper into Jason's motivations in my upcoming chapters, exploring the intricate web of personal and professional stakes that drive Jason’s actions. 🤭 Stay tuned for more revelations and twists 🤪
If you’ve been following my fanfic, let me know your thoughts on Jason’s development and how you think his backstory ties into the larger narrative. And if you’re just catching up on the game itself (MCL New Gen), what do you think of the latest episode? Let’s discuss!
If you're not following my fanfic, I recommend you read this post first 😅 Thank you all for supporting my work and crazy ideas 💖

How to fix the damage
Disabled munver
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 6.5 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9
Disabled Munver has taken over my life and I decided to write. I'm gonna do my best to do multiple parts and all of that happy bullshit.
Warnings: self-deprication, internalized homophobia, suicidal thoughts (you blink you miss it), not proof read so I have no idea what else
He couldn't even comprehend how much his life was falling apart, but he knew for sure it already did. Jason was dead one minute and waking up in the hospital the next. His girlfriend was murdered, but instead of it being the metalhead he was tracking down it was some other vessel apparently. He was in the hospital which sure sucked. But what was the worst was the fact that he was now paralyzed from the waist down. His parents told him that he was 'blessed' and how 'lucky he was to get out with such a small injury' but how was this small?
He lost everything, he couldn't play basketball, he lost a full ride scholarship, and he couldn't even go to the bathroom by himself. It did get slightly worse though, because Eddie was also in his hospital room. He wasn't visiting, his injuries were too bad for him to get off that easily, the two boys had to share the room. He would've thrown a fit about it if Eddie hadn't been so honest about the upside down and what happened to Chrissy. He also maybe was a kinda good storyteller.
His kids, well not his kids but the ones that visited, were somewhat nice. Although he had a feeling that the curly haired one didn't like him at all, and he knew for sure Lucas didn't forgive him for getting in his way. Jason could never forgive himself for all of everything that happened. It had to be his fault that it started, Chrissy started to grow distant and he should've said something but he didn't want to drive her away. Maybe it really was all his fault. Maybe he was being punished by God, for being a somewhat shitty boyfriend, for being...
That part wasn't true, he wasn't one of them. He wasn't like Eddie or, apparently, Billy. He dated Chrissy, he loved Chrissy. He'd be lying if he didn't say that Eddie was nice, and funny, and amazing with kids. Jason's parents asked him if he needed his own room but after hearing about the Upside Down and hearing how Eddie fought those bats he didn't want to leave. Eddie knew what he was doing incase something else happened and he couldn't really defend himself, you know, with his legs. Hell it'd be better if they just got ripped off, instead of him being ripped in half.
His stitches hurt like hell most days, but atleast he could still feel that area. With how stressed he was recently he didn't even know if he could, well, get off, properly. Everything always ached and himself and his parents refused to have him put on a morphine drip, so instead he was on 15 different medications. He wasn't allowed to keep any of his medicine on him while in the hospital per his therapist's request.
Jason had been going to physical therapy as well as normal therapy. His regular therapist, Dr. Linda, said that he had signs of depression, PTSD and anxiety. She also said that he should try to be less cynical. He wanted to say that she should try to be less optimistic. Most of their sessions were talking about his childhood, getting ripped in half, his (former) girlfriend, faith. Physical therapy was different though, it never helped the way he saw it. If it was really helping then he would have been able to walk by now.
The only thing that really kept him from hiding all of his pills everyday was Eddie, mostly. The only thing that kept him from clawing his skin until he couldn't anymore. He was always so bright whenever he got visitors, but Jason saw how exhausted he looked when everyone was gone. Jason and Eddie got closer than they would have ever guessed before all of this. Eddie saw Jason crying and unable to do almost anything without someone else, and Jason saw Eddie drained from a whole day of putting on a fake face.
A little while Jason's parents stopped showing up, and a little bit after that he learned that they left again. It didn't really hurt, it was just how it was, sure his parents were affectionate but that's just when they were home. His dad was a businessman and of course that was what he was supposed to be but... Nevermind it was stupid.
Jason was supposed to be sleeping, and if it wasn't for the lulling sound of Eddie's snores and the air being forced into his lungs he would've kept worrying. Jason had been worrying all of his life, but maybe he was fine getting some rest. It's not like his medication gave him any choice.

Talia's doctor told that had she had to be in bed rest. And she was now seven months pregnant with a baby boy. Although she's hated the idea to rest all day in the bed but she knew it was the best to keep her son safe. Talia was in her white nightgown which was the only nightgown that can hid her stomach pretty good. The poor girl let out a soft sigh as she looked up at her vines that was hanging around all over her her big room.
"You can't not go in there!"
One of her guards shouted out, it came out from the hallway. Talia was confused as I sat up a little and then
boom!
There was batman.
Talia immediately lifted up her sheets and cover her stomach. Bruce didn't looked to happy as he slammed the door behind him and locking it. Talia felt kinda frozen, she watched him stand in front of her bed staring down at her.
𝐼𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑠𝑜𝑛, 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑'𝑣𝑒
𝑆𝑝𝑖𝑡 𝑚𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒
"Why did you do it?."
Talia stayed quiet. Bruce was now getting irritated.
"Talia, don't make me asked again."
Talia swallowed her puke, it felt disgusting. As she slowly looked up at him. "I have no idea what are you talking about." She really didn't. Bruce immediately slammed her bed cause her to flinch "DAMNIT TALIA! I'm taking about Jason!"
Oh this was bad. Talia heard the news that Jason Todd was dead, her heart immediately broke. She loved that boy as if he was her son. She knew Bruce would be extremely depressed and honestly she would too. And so she begged her father to put Jason in the Lazarus pit, after two months of convicting..her father finally agreed.
Talia was in the beginnings of her pregnancy when she revived Jason she trained him the best she could, and when Jason begged Talia not tell Bruce about him being alive. She made a swear on it. So leading back to the present, Jason must've told Bruce that he was alive.
𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝐼 𝑑𝑎𝑚𝑛 𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑'𝑣𝑒 𝑑𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑒𝑣𝑖𝑙
"I.. I did it for you, beloved." Talia spoke softly. Bruce shake my head as he immediately took off his masks to see her.
"You turned him into a killer!"
Talia felt her heart stung, but she's never expected that Jason used his new power for bad, he was always a good kid. She slowly got up from the bed as she tried not waddle towards him, not wanting to give him any sign that she was pregnant and especially with his son. "Beloved...those were never my intentions, I trained him so he can defend himself better. I know that the pain you felt when Jason died. Because I felt it too." Talia was honest. She always wanted to be honest with him, but she knew she couldn't. It would be only cause him to pull her away even more.
𝑀𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑙 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑎𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠
Bruce felt into silence, he knew that Talia always cared for his boys (Dick and Jason). Even though they won't married anymore. She was a mother to them even if she was far. Bruce was a relief to have his son back but still mad at Talia for what she had created him.
"Beloved?"
Her voice broken into his thoughts. He didn't realize that she was close to him. He noticed something was different about her, her hair was a little messed. Her cheekbone was a little chubby and her eyes were tired. And with my the many candles she had in her room filling up the dark room. It looked like she was glowing beautifully. He let out a soft sigh as looked down at her bed. "Talia, you really cause me a big problem." He grip softly on her bed. Meanwhile Talia nodded gently as she looked her lover all stressed out. She wanted to hug him and told him that's he was sorry all over again. But she knew she couldn't, she had to restraint herself.
𝐵𝑢𝑡, 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑑, 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑒 𝑚𝑒 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑙 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑡
Bruce paced around her room thinking what do to next. Talia did not wanted to interfere with his mind. She knew that would be dangerous for her and her current state. So instead she leaned against the window starring at the candles.
"I'm not going to punished you... at least for now."
She looked back at Bruce and tried to act calm. "And what about my father?" She was about to rest her hand on her stomach but immediately realized she couldn't. "I'm going have to find him, Talia." of course he would. Talia knew she was going to have him give her father location but it was a risk that she was willing to take for now.
"He's in Tokyo."
𝐼𝑓 𝐼'𝑑 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦𝑒𝑑 𝑖𝑡 𝑠𝑎𝑓𝑒
Bruce walked back up to her, staring out at her eyes gorgeous eyes.
"is there something else you have to tell me?"
Talia shaks her head as she squeezed her hand. "No, that was all I was hiding." She looked up at him and felt his soft breath hitting against her. She felt that she was going to choked when she was going to say. "I promise, Beloved."
Bruce knew Talia was lying but didn't have the patience to deal with her. He was going to let it slide, hoping it wasn't going to be big.
𝐺𝑜𝑑 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑚𝑦 𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑙, 𝐼 𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑜 𝐼 𝑢𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒
Talia couldn't help but to lean her hand against his. Even though she could let her body lean against his, she could at least tried with her fingers. But Bruce immediately pull his hand away, cause to Talia to be shocked on his reaction. She looked up at him with her eyes widen.
He as never down that before, never.
She opened her mouth to asked what happened but immediately shuts it. She felt hurt from his actions, I guess now she knew what he felt like. "Talia...I'm getting married." Her entire world stopped.
𝐼 𝑟𝑒𝑔𝑟𝑒𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒
Bruce looked over at her candles that was next to the window. It was to painful to see her reaction, he for once felt like a coward. He watched how the wax melted and slowly becoming to nothing. He would sometimes think that was them. No matter how many times they lit the candle up. it would always be blown away. Cause the darkness to come back around them. He heard Talia whimper and he squeezes his eyes tight not bearing to see his precious beloved to cry.
"Goodbye, Talia."
He put on his mask and walked passed her, cause his heart to shattered in to million pieces with every step he walked. He unlocked her door as he heads out. Walking towards the end of the hallway. Bruce finally heard her scream in agony. The guards ran passes him but he didn't cared, he didn't even care that tears of his own were now all running down. He promised himself that's she was going to be fine without him. He prayed that his heart was going be okay.

Hello, Me
Characters: Jason Todd, Cassandra Cain, Bruce Wayne - NO SHIPPING, ALL PLATONIC
Word count: 1,170 words
Warnings: Mention of death(it’s jason. of course.), mention of injuries(not described in detail), Jason has a panic attack but isn’t super descriptive, Jason just is so emotionally hurt, I decided to keep the thing where Bruce takes Jason to his death site(it was good angst.), characters may be ooc(im kinda rusty), angst
I can’t think of anything else, lmk if i should tag anything or add it to warnings :)
“Hello safehouse,” he started. “Hello bed,” he walked forward. “Hello pillow,” he plopped down to sit. “... Hello me,” he said, finishing his ritual. Looking up, he could see a ghost version of his 15 year old self. From when he died. Whenever he came back from a mission, he always did this, almost to make sure he was there, that he was real. He let out a sigh and the vision of his beaten, young self disappeared.
He could hear him though, not a full voice, but present enough for him to say, “Maybe we were better off dead.”
Jason gave a grim chuckle in response and said, “Yeah, maybe.” His fifteen year old self was gone for now. He was hunched over, looking down at his helmet in his hands, the white lenses staring back at him. He could see his reflection with a red tint. His white trauma streak, the scars littering his face, his once blue, but now green eyes. He hated it. He looked so different compared to how he looked before. He wasn’t even sure he was who he wanted to be, but Gotham got used to Red Hood. He’d do practically anything for this city. It wasn’t the best, but it was his home, where he was molded into a street kid who stole bread from the nearest bakery to being adopted by the richest man in Gotham and becoming Robin, while still stopping by Ms. Hernandez’s house from time to time for homemade tamales and pollo guisado. He was a good kid. Then he died, came back, and got involved in gang wars, weapon dealing, and trying to kill the Bats. As much as he hated to admit it, his family.
“What a fucking second life,” he said sighing. It was raining, the sound echoing through the safehouse. He could feel a presence on the ceiling. “Cass, I know you’re there. Don’t have to hide.” He heard the swoosh of her cape as she landed and walked towards her.
She looked him up and down. “You’re not well.”
“Cass I’m fine. No injuries, I promise. At least, no new ones,” he said, mumbling the last part.
“Not body,” she responded, poking his forehead, “Mind.” She saw him about to speak and gave him a quick and simple “no.”
He sighed as his sister sat down on a chair. “Listen, I know you guys are trying to watch out for me but I’m fine. I promise.” He sat down in the chair across from her, looking down at his hands in his lap. “I’m taking my meds and eating regularly. You don’t need to worry. It’s just that sometimes my brain happens and I can’t help it.”
They stayed silent for a bit, Jason now fidgeting a little under Cass’s intense stare. Cass finally broke the silence saying, “Idiot. You are never alone. Family is here to help you always.” Then she gave him a small envelope and left his safehouse.
He took in his sister’s words. Never alone. It was easier to be alone, that’s for sure. Not like they would let him, but it was easier. Less pain for others if he could distance himself. He couldn’t though. Was he selfish for that? Maybe. He didn’t notice he was crying until he felt warm tears fall on his folded hands. He quickly wiped them away and got up to make a meal. He put the letter to the side and started to cook.
The Gotham rain continued to pound the roof of his safe house. He washed up after patrol, then laid down on his bed. He had to wear a sweatshirt and pajama pants that night. He couldn’t stand being able to look at his scars. His eyes were glowing green as he stared at the ceiling in the dark, it was another side effect of being put in the Lazarus Pit. In the back of his mind he could hear his 15 year old self again. He was whispering, “We were supposed to stay dead.” Jason shut his eyes.
The voice was louder now, a normal speaking voice. “You aren’t supposed to be here.” Jason covered his ears.
The voice, he wasn’t sure who it was anymore, grew louder. It screamed at him, “I’M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE.” He curled up into himself, shaking. He slowly opened his eyes.
All he could do was name everything he could physically sense. He kept on going until he could ground himself. The voice was gone by the end of it.
There was a knock at the door. He picked up one of his guns and walked towards it.
“Jason,” a deep voice said, “It’s me.”
Bruce. It was Bruce. Jason stood at the other side of the closed door, he didn’t really want to see anyone. Especially not Bruce. Not right now. He opened it anyway. He moved to the side letting Bruce in.
“You haven’t been answering your phone,” Bruce said as he closed his umbrella. Most people would’ve heard it as monotonous, but Jason knew. It was laced with the slightest bit of worry.
“It’s dead.”
“It’s been hours.”
“Oh yeah? I haven’t noticed,” Jason scoffed.
“We’ve been trying to contact you.”
“Cass dropped by a few hours ago. I’m assuming you’ve been trying to ask me about whatever this letter is about?” He asked, picking up the neatly sealed envelope.
“It’s… an invitation,” Bruce responded.
“For what? And it better not be a fucking gala, old man. People still think I’m…” he trailed off. Normally he could say it. Death, dead, died, that whole thing. Not today though, and Bruce recognized it.
“It’s not a gala. A family vacation.” Jason stared at Bruce with his eyebrows knitted. Bruce was a normally stoic man, but he could see how he was bracing himself for whatever negative reaction that could come his way. It came with knowing the man for years, whether he liked it or not.
“Is that code for something? Maybe another fun little field trip like when you took me to the place I fucking died?” Jason asked bitterly, “Which soldier died this time?” Bruce flinched a little, his lips pressing together and shoulders tensing.
“No. It’s an actual trip,” Bruce responded.
“The catch is…?”
“It is an actual trip. For the most part,” he said, pausing. He hesitated before saying, “We also have to gather intel on someone there. There’s an event we have been invited to, and luckily, our target is there.”
Jason just stared at him. Not realizing his face was betraying him. Not realizing the slight snarl forming on his lips. Bruce opened his mouth to say something, but Jason cut him off. “You know what? Fine. I’ll join this goddamn mission. What-fucking-ever, old man,” Jason said walking to the door, “Now, leave.”
Bruce’s face contorted into a look of worry, eyes stuck on Jason; how he hated it. “Jaylad, it’s not—“
“Go.”
Bruce lowered his gaze and walked out into the rain.

Send “Be Honest” and A Question and My Muse Will Answer Honestly be honest, how do you, in detail, really feel about Dick and Tim.
He growled, paced back and forth, like a tiger in a cage. Ready to bite off the first hand stupid enough to reach through the bars. This was bullshit. This was such bullshit.
He didn’t want to answer.
“Dick tries too hard. He fucking tiptoes around me, like he’s either scared I’m going to disappear if he blinks too hard, or that I’m going to drop him the second he says one goddamn word wrong. And then the second I get annoyed about it, he acts like I just shot his dog and he somehow deserved it. It’s fucking infuriating.” He worked his jaw, crossed his arms. “But he’s trying. And that’s more than I can say about some people.” Looking at you, B. “He actually gives a shit about me, seems like he gave a shit even when we were younger, even though he didn’t act like it.”
A sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Sometimes, I can see it. That whole ‘big brother’ thing, shining through all the try-hard. Like when I ran the gauntlet and he covered my eyes so I couldn’t see naked ladies through a skylight.” He rolled his eyes hard, despite not realizing he still remembered that until this very moment. “Sometimes…” Tongue in cheek, he looked away, dropped his voice. “Sometimes I just wish he’d stop trying so hard and just be himself. Be like that. Call me ‘Little Wing’ like he used to. I miss that.” His voice grew even softer. “I miss him.”
Tim…Tim was a different story. He took a breath, pursed his lips. “Tim’s a little asshole.” Blunt, sure, yet still true, and Jason would stick to that statement until his final dying breath. “But he’s smart as shit and got a hell of a mouth on him. I kinda gotta respect that. I’m still sort of pissed about everything. It still hurts, feeling like he replaced me twice now. Even though, logically, I know it’s not true, that’s how it feels.
“But I know it wasn’t his fault. Not really. With B, he was just a kid, trying to make things better. He thought I was dead, and B put him in a position he should’ve never been in. It wasn’t his job to be emotionally responsible for a grown fucking man. I’m sure that fucked him up in more ways than one, and I hate that he went through that. With Dean…Tim didn’t even know I knew him, when they met. And I’m sure that, if he had, he would never have even tried to get close to Dean. That’s just the kind of kid he is. He’s…he’s a good kid. I think maybe we could even be friends, some day, if I could pull my head out of my ass whenever I’m around him.”

Ooooh ideas abound.......
After the general uproar of Danny disappearing, Bruce and Tim began to try and figure out where Danny came from. To the best of their knowledge, people didn't just melt out of existence, and this didn't read like a timeline shift because then no one would've remembered anything. (They all ha d enough experience with the Flash family and other similar events.) So random change to timeline was out.
All of Danny's stuff that he'd used was still around, his DNA samples that had read corrupted were still in the Cave so the only thing left was some type of teleportation.
Strangely enough though the machines did ping a magical residue on the samples now. As much as Bruce hated magic and magic users, he had a kid to find. So he calls Zatanna who's unfortunately busy so he has Constantine come down.
Dick being the one who has the easiest relationship with John and the oldest ends up taking John through the information they have. Constantine looks at the sample and frowns. "Ok first things first. I'm going to ask questions, and I need some answers. After that I can explain what I think happened here, capiche? Good. Where and who did you say you got the sample from?"
"A kid who to the best of our estimate is B's kid. The sample kept reading as corrupted by Lazarus Water."
"Where'd the kid now?"
"He kinda vanished into thin air? Like one of those slow disappearances instead of just poof." Dick's hand waving didn't seem very explanatory but Constantine nodded along anyway.
"Okay, first of that's ectoplasm not Lazarus Water. They're pretty similar but not the same and I'm guessing the machines can't read the difference. So, that kid you had? Was probably a ghost."
The silence in Cave was only disturbed by the chirping and screeching of the bats. Tim's face was equally excited and confused. Jason and Dick just looked confused and Bruce looked heartbroken.
It was Damian however who raised a pertinent question. "Danny couldn't have been a ghost since he used things and eat food while he stayed with us."
"Look, ghosts technically are tangible so they can interact with physical objects." John desperately wanted a smoke but he knew better than to light up here. Batman may be scary but it was the butler who ruled the house and you didn't offend the only host who could make a decent cuppa. "Typically ghosts don't need to eat but if this kid? Danny? did, it's possible he's one of the few Halfas. Half dead, half alive. A proper one if he turned intangible as I'm guessing when he left, unlike Hood there who is Liminal as my best bet."
Bruce and Time turned to look at Jason, who just looked really confused. Just then, a ping came from the giant computer indicating a long running search had finally finished. Jason and Damian peeled off from the main group to go take a look, while the rest stayed with Constantine near the medical and research area.
The search results however didn't help. The pictures on the screen definitely looked like Danny but grown up. He was from a town called Amity Park, Illinois. His sister was attending Gotham University on a scholarship. But the strangest thing was there was nothing wrong with Amity Park. It was a perfect picturesque town. Too perfect in fact.
Jason and Damian took one look at each other and decided that Bruce couldn't be the one going to figure out who and what Danny was. He'd probably steamroll over everything and then that would be that. They had questions to ask, and answers to get, and then things to figure out. How was he able to stay 2 weeks with them here in Gotham and not raise a single alarm? How did Danny become a Halfa (if that was what he was)? Did he have anyone helping him figure out the Halfa thing? Did he need need someone to help him figure it out?
For that matter, what did any of the Bats know about Halfas and Liminals? They needed an expert. Luckily there was one right here so they didn't have to wait very long.
"John Constantine" Jason yelled over from the console. "How do you feel like coming on a field trip as an expert Halfa consultant?"
Constantine looked resigned and irritated. Dick had that sparkle in his eye that said he knew exactly what Jason was planning and he wanted in. Jason just grinned. Looked like the kids were staying with the old man in Gotham while big bird and Constantine figured out what was happening with Danny Fenton of Amity Park.
Bruce had been walking out of the WE building when he spotted a child who could fit right in at Wayne Manor looking around. Determining he was probably lost, Bruce approached him and tapped his shoulder. The boy turned around.
"Daddy?" he asked.

I remember you
Jason Voorhees x GN! Reader
Warnings: blood and angst... kinda?
Word count: 970
Summary: you come back to Camp Crystal Lake and a killer that killed your friends remembers you.
Tags List: @brxwrvth @dootys @callmemeelah @mehidktbh @slash3rl0v3r @the-anxious-youth @mrs-heelshire @vincent-sinclair-deserved-better @smenny @queen-----bitch @alexxavicry @vexeliers-breakroom
Been a hot minute since I made something with Jason in it, this idea came to me out of nowhere 😭
You didn’t even know what lead to this point, you were hanging out with your friends at Camp Crystal lake. You wanted to go but not for them though. You’d go there just to sit by the lake and talk to yourself, pretending that your friend Jason was there, sitting right next to you. Everything was going surprisingly well until it was nighttime. You and your friends were around the campfire roasting marshmallows you brought to the trip, one of your friends, Derik, was telling a story about the legend that lies behind the forest.
The thing that they didn't know was that you were there when that little boy drowned, you tried your best to help him but you were too late by the time help arrived. It haunted you as you got older, and it still does. Lifting your sleeve only a little, you looked at the bracelet the boy made for you. You never took it off, it was the only thing that reminded you of him. It had his name, “Jason..” You whispered to yourself. You missed him dearly, he was a nice person to be around, Jason didn't deserve any of it.
The thing that made your blood boil was when Derik said that he deserved it, who could say that about a child!? He didn't even get to grow up! “Oh, you gotta be kidding me! You're laughing about a child who died!” You yelled, throwing your stick at him, hitting him in the face. “What's your deal Y/N! It's just a legend! We don't know if he’s real!” “And if he was then it's still wrong! You're laughing about a child who drowned! That kid didn't even get to grow up! Imagine how his mother felt!”
Derik then stood up from his chair, you then stood up too, getting angrier than before. Two of your other friends stood up just in case one of you tried to make the first move to cause a fight. “I don’t understand what your deal is, it’s just a joke Y/N sheesh!” “Just a joke? Just a joke?! A child who’s dead is just a JOKE to you!? What’s wrong with you!” You could see that Derik was mad as well, not like you cared, he was talking bad about your DEAD friend! You then saw a tall figure slowly walking towards Derik. Once it got closer to the light you could see its features.
It was a guy with a hockey mask, his brown jacket was torn and dirty, in his right hand held a big sharp machete. Derik didn’t get a chance to turn around before the guy shoved the machete through his chest
You were the first one to run, hearing the others scream in different directions. “Knew it was a bad idea to come here!” As you were running you heard a loud metal snap followed by one of your friends screaming. Bear traps? Why are there bear traps in a forest? These guys are clever. You made it back to the campfire, Derik’s dead body laid by his chair, it looked like his eyes were staring back at you.
You could throw up at the sight, the blood dripping from his body making a puddle on the ground, looked like he got stabbed more than at least 3 times. Slow, heavy, footsteps approached behind you, hearing the machete scratching the ground. Creating a loud screeching noise, you turned around and saw him a few feet away from you. Your mind was screaming at you to run but you didn’t move. Something deep down told you to stay. As the man got closer, he dropped the machete, he probably didn’t even need it due to how strong he looked. He could kill you by the palm of his hands.
He was now facing to face you, looking up at him. He pointed at himself, then at you. “You… remember me?” You asked, having one of your feet placed behind the other as a head start to run. The man nodded his head, he remembers you? From where though? Was he a stalker? You don’t k ow anything about him besides the fact that he killed your friends! The man then reached in his coat pocket, pulling out a bracelet. It looked a lot like the one that you made.. wait. It then clicked in your head, he then put it on his wrist, then pointed at the bracelet you had on your wrist. It couldn’t be true, it can’t be him.
If it was why haven’t you seen him when you came by the lake? “Is this you Jason?” You asked, hands trembling, wanting to reach towards his big dirty hand. He nodded slowly, wanting you to trust him, he put his hand out towards you.
With tears in your eyes, you jumped in his arms, he’s alive after all these years. You thought he was dead and it broke you, each night you cried because of him, taking the blame for his death, for not being fast enough. Here he is, hugging you back, his grip was tight but you didn’t care, it was like if he let go you’d disappear. You’re surprised he remembers you. The sad thing was, you didn’t remember him, not until he pulled out the bracelet. He’s gotten bigger... it’s hard to see him as a kid to now, maybe it’s the mask?
Doesn’t matter anymore, what matters now is that your best friend was here now. Sure he may have killed your friends… but let’s be honest, Derik did deserve it for talking bad about him. You could feel Jason’s headrest on top of yours, he remembers you, and he missed you too. He missed you dearly and is glad to see you again.

Ummm... How do you think Ollie could influence Jason or his opinion on the whole hero thing? (About that rant you posted in the tags)
(I was always kinda interested in it but I don't know Ollie's character enough. Feel free to ignore)
I'm sorry this took so long! Life really got in the way this week!
Ok so big question! I have a lot of thoughts on this so I’ll try not to go off on too many tangents. Also if you’d like some Ollie comic recs, I’d be more than happy to give them!
Also before I begin, I’m writing a fic on this premise so if you don’t want some spoilers, don’t read this post. I’ve also been thinking about how Jason and Ollie connect mostly in regards to the fic I’m writing, which has Under the Red Hood Jason and pulls mostly from the Grell run and the Quiver storyline for Ollie, so those are the characterizations I’m going to be referring to.
SO
Let’s start with why I think Ollie and Jason would work together. Ollie and Jason are both characters who are known for and, at times, defined by their anger. Ollie is a leftist who uses hero work mostly to protect people who aren’t being protected by law enforcement, such as sex workers and the homeless. Jason came back from the dead to find that no one he knew in life seemed to miss him and his life didn't seem to matter to anyone and he became angry. While they have different motivations for being angry, I find it interesting that anger is an important emotion for both of them. Jason and Ollie also tend to handle their anger in similar ways, with lots of outbursts and vigilante work. They also tend to work toward similar goals. Ollie wants to help lower class people and people who are frequently ignored by the justice system, while Jason wants to help protect kid from the drug trade, as shown in UtRH, and to some extent help the Bowery. Ollie is an older hero who has been doing this for a lot longer than Jason has and focuses more on areas of hero work that Jason is interested in as Red Hood but clearly would not have had experience with as Robin.
Ollie is one of few characters who is shown to stand up to Bruce with some frequency. As shown in this post, Ollie will defend Bruce’s kids and treats them like people before like sidekicks. A lot of moments when Ollie is arguing with Bruce are meant to portray Ollie as argumentative and hot headed, all of which I think is interesting to parallel with how Jason has been treated for disagreeing with Bruce's methods. I think it could do Jason a lot of good to connect with both heroes who don't necessarily see eye to eye with Bruce, and also to connect with heroes who aren't in Gotham and do hero work differently. As I've said before, the bat kids do a lot better when they are allowed to connect with people outside of the bat circle and grow as a person separate from Bruce. I also think that Jason's character is constantly nerfed in favor of showing Bruce in a better light and having Jason connect with a hero who understands his actions and tries to meet him on his level would actually be a boost for Jason. The post linked above includes a panel from that comic where Jason kidnaps Mia Dearden and blows up her high school gym. (Don't really like this plot but anyway.) Even though Jason has kidnapped Mia and Bruce and Ollie are trying to track him down to make sure he doesn't hurt her, Ollie still shows a lot of concern for Jason and what he's going through. Even thought Jason has taken Mia and blew up a building, Ollie is still thinking about Jason as a person who needs to be talked to and understood rather than a villain who needs to be conquered. This, to me, shows that Ollie would make an effort to connect with Jason and understands him.
For a more specific point of connection, Ollie is another vigilante who has died and come back. It wasn’t the same as Jason’s resurrection, since he was put back together atom but atom by Spector Hal and had to go to heaven to get his soul back, but that’s still an experience that not many people could relate to. Ollie is also a vigilante who has killed people. He hasn’t killed on the scale Jason has, but that still sticks out to me, especially since DC has a pretty strict code that their heroes don’t kill. Ollie has killed out of anger, revenge, or to protect someone, which is similar to Jason, who kills because of his anger over it not seeming like he was remembered or cared about, revenge for being killed, or to protect the people and kids in the parts of Gotham Bruce ignores. Again, they're not really the same reasons, especially with a lot of Jason's characterization after UtRH, but I find it interesting that comparisons can be made between them and why they've made the choice to kill. I also think it would be very interesting to have Jason connect with someone who has killed for similar motivations but is still considered a hero and is welcomed by the other heroes.
Related to that point, Ollie and his family are also friends with assassins and people who have killed or really wouldn’t be welcome by other heroes. People such as Eddie Fyers, Shado, and Jade all have close relationships with members of the Arrowfam and show up pretty frequently in their storylines. They’re invited to weddings, they're offered help and haven by the Arrows, and, in Jade's case, she is allowed and encouraged to be a large part of Lian's life. These characters are recurring, and they are shown to have established trust with the Arrowfam. So while Jason is a killer who has committed some truly heinous acts, I really don't think that it would be all that big a barrier in Ollie fostering a relationship with him.
So this is a very long explanation to say that I think Ollie would understand Jason a lot more than the majority of other heroes, and if Jason and Ollie were given the opportunity to actually connect, I think it would work out well for Jason. Jason is a very lonely character. He doesn't have many friends, especially not ones who he's had for as long as other characters, and the only people he has to reconnect with when he comes back from the dead are the bats, who have very different world views from him at that point. Ollie, on the other hand, operates very differently and I think he could really do a lot for showing Jason that you don't have to follow Batman's rules to be a hero or to do the right thing. This isn't to say I think Ollie would whole heartedly endorse Jason's whole "Red Hood Reign of Terror" thing, but I think Ollie could be a positive influence in showing Jason how to be a street level vigilante, especially since they tend to focus on similar areas. Ollie could really help Jason become a hero in his own right rather than a character who keeps flipping between outright villain and vague anti-hero.

I bet Damian had a bunch of pets in the League and Talia told him to be careful as his enemies may try to target them to hurt him. Similar to what happened with Bruce and Jason and even herself and Damian. She just said that others will think the pets are his vulnerability/weakness and Damian being a child thought she was saying the pets made him weak.
WAIT THAT ACTUALLY MAKES SO MUCH SENSE THO--
Anon, you're really just being big-brain all the way right now, huh?
Honestly my post did not explain the specifics of Damian's comment and why he chose to say that in particular, so your idea makes so much more sense! (Besides, I gotta say, I don't love the idea of Damian consciously spreading lies about his mom anyway.)
Especially when you consider Damian's misunderstanding to be not just a matter of his age, but of his specific experiences, it all comes together perfectly. He's obviously in the League therefore spending a lot of time with Ra's, and let's be honest, Ra's is gonna be constantly telling this kid different things make him weak (specifically if Talia happens to not be there to correct him). So basically, in Damian's experience, when people say things similar to Talia's warning on the pets they literally just do mean it makes him weak. Obviously he's not gonna be 100% able to tell the differences in meaning at such a young age, so it's no surprise he'd get confused and take it the wrong way.
Also, I bet Ra's has said exactly the words "attachment to living things makes you weak" because he's just like that. Like I can't think of any specific time in canon he did it to Damian off the top of my head, but he kinda said that kinda thing to younger!Talia in the Gotham City Anniversary Villains Giant, right? Well, I guess not living things since it was about her dead mother lol, but it's still that kind of attachment..... Actually, I don't think anyone's gonna argue with me about Ra's saying that kinda thing to Damian, it's pretty obviously in character of him lol.
The point is, though, that Damian's probably young enough that he views the things Talia and Ra's say as the 100% truth, and that they are obviously right because they are his totally smart parental figures. Therefore, he probably assumes that they mostly agree, since the 100% truth cannot contradict itself. Or, at least, in his head their views, even the explicitly contradicting ones, lump together.
So, since Ra's is over here saying attachment to living things makes a person weak, it feels like what Talia is saying is just as an addition of it, even if that's not what she meant in the slightest. But it seems like the same thing to him. Soooo he says just that in the setting of the webtoon.
I'm sorry, I know I'm probably just going off stating the obvious right now lol, but I just love your idea so much, anon! Thank you for telling me about it!

To be Reset.
Laid back into his grave. As though he never crawled free.
No Pits. No rage. No mistakes and regrets. No darkening his soul with the things he has done. Yet... yet also? None of those lives saved. Those kids fed, those women walked home safe, those few bucks that DID make the difference.
He went broken, into that cold long Night.
He came back RAGING and fighting to make a difference.
He's always known, they all do really, that sometimes? There IS no way out. You make the sacrifice. And like HELL is Jason more important then... then EVERYTHING. Then Kori and Roy, the nibblings, his family. Earth and all those stars.
There is some scared as hell Kid, in a crown, floating up over everyone's heads, trying so SO hard not to look like he IS scared. Everyone's crying and shouting. Cause a racket and making demands at him. Me, me, me! Like the guy's not holding everything they're supposed to LOVE in his hands, trying desperately to save it.
When he didn't have too.
When he could have let nature sort it out.
He's just some kid. Why is this HIS job? What has him so, so damn Scared. Something called "Cleaners". And if that ain't ominous as SHIT...
His Grandparents are here. Friends he doesn't remember how he knows, but KNOWS. He... he was here before. Wasn't he? He can feel it. Some biker ass Librarians are greeting him like he's one of their own. And... and yeah, he can see it.
His eyes keep getting pulled back to that... Not Orb.
His Reality.
It looks WOUNDED. Battered and misshapen, cracked like somebody took a hammer to it. Bleeding green over the edges of the kids hands in steady, unending little rivers. The green oozing out looks... thick and inflamed. Somehow, he has a feeling it shouldn't.
Other? They kinda give the Vibe of Gods. Other BEINGS flow in and out. Peering over the kids shoulder. Tutting and hissing in upset, concern. Apparently it's BAD. Real Bad.
Did... did cause that?
Or was it more? All those over universes, trying too invade. Timeline shifts. Reality rewrites. Multiversal wa... wait. WAIT.
Jason jerks forward.
There universe has crashed into other universe, before. Threatened merges and collapses. Rewrites. What if there PEICES? Like the shrapnel of a shattered shell? He remembers, from his Robin day. From Kori. Sometimes it's not the initial wound that kills. For some races, it's often the shrapnel that those wounds CAUSE, that kills them in the end.
Up above, impossibly, Bruce is here. Uncle Clark. They got the kids attention. But are trying to argue for hissoul like THATS the important thing here. It's not. He's NOT. Damn it, Bruce! People NEED them!
If he's dead, then he's dead! The LIVING need you!
His head hasn't felt this clear in... His eyes find that thick, inflamed, pus like green. Still bleeding from everything he's ever known. Wounds upon Reality itself, long ago festered. Above him that Clock God is smiling, head turned like he's expected him, as Jason shoves through the crowd. New friends and grandparents, helping.
Jason knows that Green.
He REMEMBERS now.
What he saw, deep down in the Pits. What human eyes could not see and human minds could not remember. What drove his Soul to fury and fear, far greater then he ever meant for. The source of the sickness. What made it all so frail, one mere mortal could the walls.
"HEY! KID!"
You know one of the purposes of Lining?
Shock Absorption.
If the Zone is the Inter- and EXTRA-Dimensional Lining, connecting, containing, and generally powering all of Multiversal Creation? The Great Primordial Soup? The Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, from which we came and too which we return?
If the Zone itself is basicly the place between Universe, where your soul goes to get washed down, cleaned up, recharged, and sent out to wherever the next random portal takes it? To BECOME whatever you happen to find? An infinte recycler and Multiversal management?
The great metaphorical Yggdrasil, grown far beyond few branches, into an incomprehensible forest of one?
Well!
That kinda changes things! And also nothing! Because it means that those who remain? Are basicly squatting in the DMV's attic. Have built bunkers, under the country's main power generator. They really SHOULD move along. Granted, there is no one to MAKE them... but like...
That's cause no one thought anyone would NEED too?
Lol. Don't they feel silly? Anyway, I'ma put MY house over-! *wander off to go squat in the rafters*
Yeah, the CONCEPTS are native. But those probably just generate naturally. It's all the Souls constantly flowing through. Lots of background Sentience and Memories and such being washed away into the air. But? Then these lil souls were like "yeah, but if THEY get to stay... me too! D:< " "no, you can-" "ME TOO" and then they stopped listening and did what they wanted.
Good thing we have literally infinte amounts of room.
T...there's so MANY, you guys.
But! Not the point here!
*smacks white board* Realities! The Die too sometimes! And get born! A beautiful process, really. You can find Reality Beads if you know When and Where to look, some times. They, OBVIOUSLY, don't last for very long. Since they are basicly just seed universe. The explosive growth takes them almost immediately out of our range of perception, as they Begin.
Foundations of all Life and such.
But good God are they MAGNIFICENT!
However, sometimes? The REVERSE happens. If you find the area of the Zone your in? Is getting... "wavey" is the best way people describe it. Distorted. Fun house mirror. As though your vision has weird wrinkles that are distorting and stretching your view of things? Get Out. FAST.
If it's only SLIGHT? Barely noticeable? You can grab your Lair. IF, and ONLY IF you are NEARBY! If not? Remember. Things can be replaced. YOU? Can not.
Cause that "wavey"-ness? Is the final stage of Realm Entropy. The universe that portion over the Zone is covering and connected too, is all hollowed out. And about to CAVE IN. You DO NOT want to be there when that happens!
Remember! You see "waves"? Fly for three days!
Get to the edge of the affected area then KEEP GOING for a full three days flight. Warn everyone in you path. We stay safe together, guy. Collapses are NO JOKE. People get... well. Let's just say it's NOT a nice way too go.
Knowing this of course? We should all be SAFE right? Respectful if Awed distance from Reality Seeds, run like he'll if "waves"? We Gucci?
.....Sooooorta.
*flips Whiteboard to other side, to reveal a cartoonishly drawn Supervillian labeled "Asshole"*
Behold! A Terrorist!
It's a charged word. Not used lightly. But THESE fuckers? Oh ho ho! THESE fuckers?! "Ooooh~! Look at MEEEEE! I'm gonna play with FORCES I DONT UNDERSTAAAAAAAND! Destabilize my whole funckin UNIVERSE! Kill countless TRILLIONS OF TRILLIONS! Cause life was bad to me personally and I'm mad about it! Wah wah wah!!" ASSHOLES!
These fuckers? Cause Collapses. Blow Outs. Weird Fucked Up Cancerous Real Growths. You ever seen the Cleaners? No? You don't WANT TOO. They are basically eldritch, deep sea, angler fish looking mother fuckers THE SIZE OF SOLAR SYSTEMS. They travel in SCHOOLS.
BIG ONES.
When Realities collapse, they "fall off" as it were. Detach. And have to get recycled. All the countless impurities of Life eaten way to a blank slate. So it too, can start again. Thus the Fish. But! They ALSO eat anything "problematic".
Like tumors. Cancers. Poisoned, Multiversal Threats. Those quote on quote "God Killers".
Yes. Yes this IS part of why you DONT want to be near a Collapsing Reality.
No I WON'T explain how I know.
I DONT WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT.
*smack the board with pointer* pay attention.
Jason Todd. Not! An Asshole. Sexy thighs. Fancy lil hair strip. We all miss him. But! He's off living his "no really, I'm totally alive, guys" hot girl summer or whatever. We are going to respect that! But!!! How did that happen? When he was DEFINITELY Hella dead?
Superboy Prime-y Pants. Who IS an ASSHOLE.
Because THAT fucker? PUNCHED HIS REALITY SO HARD IT NEARLY SHATTERED. Oh, no, I'm sorry! He punched SOMEONE ELSE'S reality! Because he is a tantruming MAN CHILD! And NOW? Now, Your Majesty, that WHOLE ASS Reality is more hair line cracks then border walls! One good shove? It'll cave in. Killing every soul inside.
The Cleaners are ALREADY circling.
It needs to be patched. Immediately. But that's not something normal ghosts can DO. The Zone won't LISTEN to us. Nor allocate the energy for it. The Concepts of Healing? We can't even FIND them.
We need help.
Please help them, King Phantom. You're the only one who CAN.

Joker and Robin
Alright, I promised this post.
So, the other day I was reading Robin: Year One, and I got to this panel with Joker in jail.
And it startled me a bit because I got this very vivid flashback (flash forward?) to Robin II, Joker’s Wild.
This is almost identical concepts for panels except one is Dick and one is Tim. And well, it got me thinking... Joker really IS obsessed with Robin as much as he is obsessed with Batman. And - I mean, fuck, he doesn’t even hate Batman - he fucking HATES Robin.
[Gotham Knights 73]
I - woah. Okay. Really FUCKING hates them.
I can’t help thinking of Joker’s first interaction with Jason ever (though this is ginger Jason) in Batman 366. He’s... super not amused to see Batman with a new kid.
And then... you know...
The Murder Thing.
Actually, Under the Hood is interesting.
Joker... kinda likes Jason, after he comes back from the dead. He's amused. He’s got this... weird fucked up family angle he’s needling Jay with. It’s almost like he thinks Jason connects him and Batman.
Until Jason calls him on his bullshit, of course.
[Batman and Robin 14]
The exception to this utter hatred seems to be Damian? Whom Joker seems to view as being more like Bruce than the others... or maybe it’s like the thing with Jason post-resurrection, Damian’s not exactly a moral compass for Bruce like Dick, Tim, or (pre-death, sometimes) Jason.
And, of course, Earth Prime has had their own take on this, delving pretty deep into the concept.
[Nightwing 16]
Joker establishes that he hates Dick the most. Death of the Family establishes that Joker thinks Dick makes “his” Batman weak with all his love and friendship and stuff.
[Redhood and the Outlaws 15]
Welp, there’s that “family” angle again.
I don’t really know if it’s even worth it getting into Joker’s take in the New52 version of Tim, it’s really no where near comparable to his New Earth version, and I’m not sure what take away there is for Joker calling Tim “boring” in this universe other than it’s the writers calling Tim boring. Skip!
Joker informs Damian that he and the rest of Bruce’s kids are a burden on Batman, that they “block out the light” he and Batman shine on each other. It’s an interesting take on Joker’s obsession with Batman.
And, finally, in the White Knight universe, they go out an say that Joker was jealous of Jason for being “closer to Batman” than he was.
....Yeah, that’s, that’s all I have to say on the matter. That’s just, like, a thing, I guess.
EDIT:
So, I didn’t really talk about Joker’s relationship to Tim very much when I wrote this. I knew he really, really hated Tim, but I didn’t have a comic handy that demonstrated that beyond their first meeting. In the interim, I found Robin 85.
Joker is critical of Dick’s initial presence, and confirms he’s always wanted Dick dead.
He’s established, again, to LIKE Jason. Not just in personality, but as a second opportunity to kill Robin like he’s always wanted, but never got the chance to with Dick.
However, Joker also indicates that he missed having Robin around.
But he still wasn’t happy to have Tim show up.
What Joker seems to hate most about Tim, is that Tim tends to work alone more often than the other Robins. This means when Joker starts a scheme to get Batman’s attention, sometimes Robin showed up, and only Robin. You can also see than Joker views Tim as the brainy Robin (though logically, all the Robins are smart in different ways - Tim himself just seems to recognize patterns the quickest, and is perhaps the most persistent in following small leads).
We later see in Joker’s Last Laugh that he is so very pissed off when he is NOT the one to “kill” Tim (it’s a misunderstanding, don’t worry about it).
At this stage, Joker seems to view the Robins as further methods to hurt Bruce. When he can’t be the one to kill Tim, he at least wants his body to show off. Then, when Nightwing shows up before Bruce, pissed and ready to kill a bitch, Joker decides that’s a better torture for Bruce than pushing Bruce himself past his code.

You always seem down on the idea of the Batfam. I mean, it is hard to take seriously when writers make Bruce hostile or downright abusive towards his kids, or when Batfam members never interact. But do you think the concept itself is good, and it's just been the victim of bad writing? Or do you think the Batfam is a bad idea that can never work?
Hi there Anon! Thank you for the ask!
Hmm, this is a difficult question. Maybe I can answer this better if I do it in parts because the concept of “Batfamily” is used in different ways currently. A way to separate them can be, DC’s Batfamily, Fandom’s Batfamily and Fandom’s Batfamily lore being introduced in comics’ canon.
DC’s Batfamily:
My rejection of this version of Batfamily comes from all angles, it is not a good concept within comics lore anymore, it’s badly written and used to hide and move on from truly horrendous actions done by Bruce towards the rest of the family, and DC uses the concept of “Batfamily” that fandom has become so attached to, so they can profit off of it without writing anything of real essence with it.
Why did I say that the Batfamily isn’t a good concept anymore? Well, because the Batfamily that I first came across in comics included, Bruce, Dick, Alfred, Barbara, Tim and Cassandra. It was rather small and their books interconnected and had pretty solid relationships with one another. Dick and Tim got along and spent time together, Barbara mentored Cass so she could become Batgirl and so on and so forth. The family was smaller and more connected. But they still had problems and bad habits then. So, I liked them as a group of people that worked together and the name they received was “Batfamily” as a way for DC to profit from it.
Right now, the Batfamily is huge, I don’t know if you have seen those splash pages with all the members of it for Rebirth and Infinite Frontier, but those promotional pages were crazy big, characters like Harley and Clownhunter are now considered part of the “Batfamily” and all that. Then there is the kind of characters like Cass, Steph and Kate who are all connected to Batman but that haven’t been appearing in books for very long, so putting them on that page really feels like DC is trying to prove that their “Batfamily” actually has women on it, but it’s just for show.
And then there is Dick, Jason, Tim and Damian, the most recognizable faces of the Batfamily aside from Bruce and Alfred (but Alfred is dead now so he doesn’t really count), all of them have had issues with Bruce or are indifferent to the existence of one another. Yes, Tom Taylor has included Tim in Dick’s book but here is the thing, it feels like he put him there just to make fans shut up about the lack of content with both of them acting as they used to do. But its false and lazy, Taylor just brought Tim to the book but we don’t get to see Tim and Dick interact in ways that can explain why they drifted off, it kinda seems like all those years where Dick and Tim were pulled apart never happened to DC and that makes me think “cash grab”. I would have loved to see them interact again if it meant that we would have some solid story for them to develop their relationship once more.
At the end of Rebirth, Damian was pissed off at Bruce and they had a fight and Damian left the manor completely. Bruce beat up Jason, then gave him a hug but still told him that he was banned from Gotham and all that abuse and manipulation was swept under the rug when DC came out with Urban Legends: Cheer, all they did with that story is lie and made-up stories about Jason wanting Bruce to go on a killing spree so Gotham can finally be the home to his beloved family (lies, lies, lies).
On top of all that we have the neglect, abuse and manipulation that Bruce had going on with Dick, ever since Bruce manipulated Dick into joining Spyral his actions haven’t faced any consequences (the family still believes that Dick was the one who lied about dying). And as recently as the end of Rebirth, Dick suffered from a head injury that left him amnesiac and Bruce absolutely didn’t care enough to look after him when he was so vulnerable and alone. DC had the audacity of having Bruce say that he was looking after Dick while Dick went from one villain manipulating and hurting him to another, and if we look at Batman’s run, we can see that he spent some of that time in a weird pit or playing catch the pussy with Selina in a tropical island.
So, taking all those things into account, I honestly believe that the Batfamily is a concept that absolutely does not belong in comics. If it were to be taken seriously then DC should come up with (organic, not forced) stories that make these characters connect once again, but they have to be careful, just because they can connect it doesn’t mean that everyone gets along and they have group chats and eat dinner together of Fridays, that would be a blatant lie and just too out there for their kind of dynamic, so, they should take things slow, start re-building what once was an make it better (if they want to make it work and feel like less of a cash grab).
I heard that there is a book with Cass and Steph being mentored as Batgirls by Barbara coming out in December, that to me is a good thing, what was done in Robin #5 was awful, Jason didn’t have or want to be there, Tim, what the hell was Tim doing there? The only ones that have gotten along with Damian and have had a solid relationship with him were Dick and Steph. Dick had a very nice moment with Damian in that issue, but Steph didn’t, they preferred to have Jason wanting to hug Damian instead (what the actual hell was that?).
Fandom’s Batfamily:
Fandom is a place where people can take any concept from anywhere and transform it into whatever they please. This fandom is just like any other in that matter, but I have noticed that sometimes the Batfamily Fandom tends to blur the lines between what’s fanon and canon. Their lore is so deep and established among people that they sometimes (willingly or not) make new readers or other people believe that how things and perceived in fandom is how things actually are in comics, and that is a huge problem.
Things like “Dick sent Jason to Arkham when the Joker was just a cell away”, “Jason has pit madness and when he gets mad his eyes turn glowy green”, “Dick was a horrendous brother to Jason before Jason died”, “Jason would be good friends with Tim and Cass”, “Jason is the only one that sees the world differently from Bruce and the other robins because he is the only one that comes from a life with no luxury” and so on and on and on…
All of those things are sometimes treated as the absolute truth by fandom and no matter how many times people have debunked and explained that those things aren’t part of comics’ canon because they are simply not true, fandom stills treats those things as the basis of their Batfamily lore.
That lore would be actually fascinating if people didn’t lose sight so easily of the fact that at the end of the day none of that lore can be applied to comics’ canon.
When you enter this fandom things can be extremely confusing and the way some of the characters are characterized are completely different to their canon characterizations, I knew that the Dick fandom was writing about was not real, but I had no idea that Tim being a coffee addict that hasn’t slept in five months and is an absolute genius in everything and anything that he does was completely out of character for him, I just thought that was true to his character in comics too. Something like that happened to me when I took a peek at Jason’s side of fandom, by that time I had read Red Hood/Arsenal, UtRH and New 52 RHatO (yeah in that order, Red Hood/Arsenal wasn’t finished yet though), with the already conflicting characterizations of those books, the first look that I had at fandom’s Jason confused me even more. After considering all those I decided that the Jason that I wanted to see and actually looked appealing to me was UtRH Jason.
Not all people in fandom read comics and that is ABSOLUTELY VALID, I have zero problems with people not liking the comic characterizations of the “Batfamily” characters, but that in itself also creates a rift between fans themselves.
Fandom’s Batfamily lore being introduced in comics’ canon:
This is obviously the intersection of the other two points and this is the biggest problem that I have with the Batfamily concept. The fandom lore has been leaking into comic’s canon for a while now but right now we are kinda drowning in it. Decisions that have been made recently in DC like, Jason giving up his guns, the group chats in Nightwing issues, the family dinners that were hinted at in Cheer #6, and Bruce having had at the ready a Red Hood suit for Jason with a Batman logo in its chest, have been proof enough that DC is planning on skipping any kind of solid writing for these characters to actually get along. We are never going to see these people sit down and talk about their differences and respect each other’s work ethics.
We are never going to get stories of actual essence that prove that these characters understand and care for each other, we are just going to be told that “all is good” and now everyone loves one another and they will build from there.
That is a problem for me.
-
And it also takes away duality from Gotham’s vigilantes, I know I say this too much but it’s the truth, putting all these characters under the ruling of Batman makes them all bland. Jason shouldn’t be part of any sort of group that involves Bruce! My god, I don’t want to see them interact anymore! Bruce has been absolute trash to Jason ever since he came back from the dead and I am tired of DC trying to make them be on good terms!
Jason and Bruce not getting along can co-exist with the fact that Jason isn’t a villain to Batman’s legendary hero. Jason is his own character, with his own morals and he doesn’t need a bat symbol on his chest or book logo to be relevant. Same with Dick, Tim and Barbara, let them be characters that can stand on their own because they have already done that!
Barbara as Oracle worked WITH Batman if she wanted, she had her own logo and had passed on the mantle of Batgirl because he had grown out of it.
Dick is Nightwing and has become an even better hero than Batman could even aspire to become, he has contacts with everyone in the DC universe, has led countless teams, he doesn’t NEED a batman logo on his book or to be constantly dragged back to him just to make the Bat more compelling.
Jason, my sweet Jason, he had his own logo! It was gorgeous and then Lobdell had the audacity to stamp a Batman logo in the middle of the book name and in Jason’s chest! Have we gone absolutely mad? Why did they do that? Lobdell’s constant back and forth with Jason and his feelings for Bruce, he respects him and he doesn’t, he kills and he doesn’t… each issue felt like a new take on the character! It was crazy!
And that has happened with everyone in the “family”. I will end this by saying that Bruce/Batman being at the centre of this “Batfamily” dynamic is the most laughable thing in the DC Universe. Batman isn’t family to any of the people that they constantly surround him with, he is a piece of shit.
Anyway Anon, I hope this answer doesn’t ruin your day and that you understand that even though I really don’t like the “Batfamily” concept, you and everyone else are allowed and encouraged to think differently!
Hope you have a marvellous day Anon!

You know, I wrote this whole thing, I spent way too long on one of the DC wikis, but I completely forgot that in Quiver Resurrected!Ollie is missing 10 years of memories. So that's the real reason. If you want to read the insanity that is me focusing on anything other than my work, see below.
Please know that the following is not meant to be an "Well, Actually" style correction; I saw this post, started rotating it in my mind while working on something else, and then decided to be a crazy person and try and make sense of DC's timelines/plots:
(cw for mentions of sexual assault, torture)
So, going by publishing dates, Jason dies in late 1988. As far as I can tell, The OG League, including Green Arrow, breaks up in 1984. After that, Aquaman re-forms the league (Justice League Detroit). Batman is a member, but Green Arrow isn't.
"Crisis on Infinite Earths" happens in 1985. Ollie is possibly a Justice League member during Crisis on Infinite Earths? Maybe? Every wiki entry is telling me something different. And Ollie doesn't have his own series at this time, but from what I can tell, his stories in Detective Comics during this period mostly keep him local and don't involve any bat crossovers.
After the Legends crossover, during which the League was once again disbanded and then reformed, we have Justice League International, where the lineup is still Batman yes, Green Arrow no (1987). Maybe Ollie was too busy finally getting books with his name on them again, idk.
Interestingly, Black Canary is part of the JLI lineup. Around this time, though, Dinah and Ollie are having fights about whether or not to get married/whether or not to have kids, Dinah is secretly taking birth control, Ollie's was raped by Shado, Ollie is having issues after killing the guy torturing Dinah (allegedly in this continuity this is the first person Ollie's ever killed), and oh yeah Dinah was tortured. Also apparently Ollie keeps fucking off to Alaska or England or Japan or whatever. (The issues where he's in Japan and Shado rapes him were published at basically the same time Jason was getting exploded.) So I can see why, even if Dinah knows about Jason, it might not be something she wants to bring up, especially since one of the reasons she and Ollie are fighting is her fear that any child of theirs will be targeted.
And then there are like three more incarnations of the Justice League, but as far as I can tell Ollie doesn't join any of them before he dies (1995). (Connor Hawke Green Arrow does join for a little bit in 1997)
TLDR Ollie isn't seeing Bruce at the office every day and is going through his own drama; it's theoretically possible that he missed Jason's obituary – he legit might have been in Alaska or Japan at the time, then no one told him when he got back because a) that's not fun gossip; that's a dead child, and b) the assumption he already knows that gajillionaire Bruce Wayne's son died.
Also I kinda love the idea of Ollie a) not being told Jason died and b) not realizing that Tim isn't just Jason in pants.
I recently came across these panels of Green Arrow 2001 where Oliver is in the afterlife, and I have some thoughts below.
It’s the line “Spooky didn’t even mention it to me” that really takes me out because how many people did Bruce actually tell about Jason’s death when he was grieving? Obviously Clark knew, he was there in Death of the Family’s aftermath to prevent Bruce from killing the Joker, but if Green Arrow didn’t know, that’s like… a pretty core member of the Justice League.
Batman just went about his JL missions while grieving and internally suffering and at least Green Arrow didn’t notice, but also I don’t know who would have said anything if they did notice. It’s a somewhat known fact in-universe now I think, but I don’t know, it just makes me sad that he didn’t say anything about it when it happened.

So I was having a conversation with a bunch of Batfamily fans, and the discussion was that there are too many Batfamily characters, do you agree? Yes or No? And I was like no they aren’t a lot, it’s just DC don’t know, or have the resources to put every character in a book consistently, and if they did fans would get annoyed that it’s only Batfamily characters, which fair. And then it came down to who would you have in your Batfamily? And you only get 7 characters, and I was like, damn that is a hard choice, mainly because I had differing choices of who would be Batman, and the time period of the Batfamily, but like my current time Batfamily would be: Bruce Wayne as Batman Dick Grayson as Nightwing Barbara Gordon as Oracle Tim Drake as Red Robin Stephanie Brown as Batgirl Cassandra Cain as Black Bat Helena Wayne as Robin Now I know, what you may be thinking, ‘No Damian or Jason? Wrong’ And I would mostly agree with you. But, while I’m interested that Jason isn’t using guns or killing anymore I think it takes a big part away from him, in terms as a character, especially as Red Hood. And Damian.... while he is more popular than probably all the listed characters barring Bruce and Dick due to his exposure in media outside of comics, I argue that DC writers don’t really like him, as once one part of his character development ends he just reverts to killing and being Damian from when he was first introduced... and I wasn’t exactly fond of Damian back then. Plus, I think Jason works better as a character who died, as in he adds more to Bruce’s and Batman’s legacy as a kid who died. And Damian, I don’t know he’s Robin, but he’s also not? Well, same with Tim to be honest, although it’s more, he acts like Red Robin, kinda, but is Robin. Also, I like the fact that I picked Helena as I believe she is a character who could be great. She would be a great Robin, depending on the Batman as well, and it would mean you get a mainstream female Robin who isn’t from an alternate future or simply Robin for about 73 days and then killed off in a real shitty way, just to further a love interests downfall into self-doubt aaaand then retcon it four years later. Okay, so I’m not over War Games and Steph’s Death. But my Future State or just future Batfamily in general would be: Tim Drake as Batman Cassandra Cain as Batwoman Stephanie Brown as Nightwing Helena Wayne as Huntress Terry McGinnis as Robin And then add more characters, like their own kids or just introduce new characters, to fill the gaps that Bruce, Dick, and Babs would have left when they retire, yes retire, don’t kill any of them, or turn into... *Shudder* Ric Grayson. And I’m going to defend my Tim as Batman, as while he has always been depicted as evil if he did become Batman, except when he became Batman Beyond, I argue that’s when all his family is dead and has lost hope, but in this alternate reality he still has his older sister, Cass, his younger sister, Helena, his dad, Bruce, his brother, Dick, and long term love interest/best friend/possibly wife, Stephanie. (More than likely his love interest though, I can’t help myself) so I don’t think he would go evil, and his Robin would be an opposite to him so their dynamics and personalities wouldn’t collide.
But yeah that’s just me. Also, my Future Justice League would look like this: Tim Drake as Batman Donna Troy as Wonder Woman Karen Starr as Superwoman M’gann M’orzz as Martian Manhunter Wally West as Flash Conner Hawke as Green Arrow Jessica Cruz as Green Lantern Koriand’r as Starfire Lorena Marquez as Aquawoman Rachel Roth as Raven Kyle Rayner as White Lantern And again, that’s just my opinion, and if you want comment your own.
