so there exists this popular belief that the main source of conflict between jason and bruce is that jason needs bruce (his dad) and not batman. it is something that i agree with, but i don’t think the fanon reading takes into account how much jason himself is not aware of this dichotomy and conflict of interest (at least in canon.)

i don’t reckon he would personally be able to articulate it, because the main reason the conflict arises is that he can’t draw a line between batman and bruce. bruce is a father to him both as a civilian and in cowl, and let me tell you, this becomes a problem as early as in his robin days. i would even argue it’s what indirectly leads to his death. when bruce benches jason after the garzona fiasco, jay latches onto the idea that he has a biological mother that he can find, who will be a parent to him instead. that is because while he knows (or knew) that he was loved, for him being son to bruce and robin to batman is the same. in his mind, being benched is as good as being thrown out of the family. and it makes sense, because when you read the 80s run, you really see that the way batman treats robin in the field is nothing short of paternal still. he even calls him “jay” when they’re patrolling alone. all the times we see jason and bruce bonding, even if it’s some fun pastime like going to a museum or a baseball match, it’s also a part of some batman investigation. and if you look further back, bruce asked jason if he wanted to be robin even before he took him in, as batman, before even revealing his identity to him.

so it is completely to be expected that for jason, bruce’s responsibilities as a father, as batman, and as a civilian, are all in the same category. and it also explains why jason confronts him about it in mask himself. in jason’s understanding, it’s not that bruce failed as a father because of his commitment to batman. in jason’s pov batman failed as a father, the same as bruce did, because they’re obviously the same person, and if it’s his no kill rule that caused this failure, then for sure the whole philosophy is kinda shitty. cue developing a whole new code that allows you to kill people in order to protect people you care about. (and it goes without saying that jason cares about everyone, the bleeding heart that he is)

going back to the core of the problem, i think that also because of that, realistically, jason wouldn’t want a deal where bruce accepts him “as his father” or “as a civilian” while batman still actively denounces his methods. he needs acceptance from batman as much as he needs it from bruce wayne, because he doesn’t differentiate between them (for a good reason). he doesn’t understand that there’s any tension between bruce as a vigilante and as a parent. and i think it makes it even sadder because he’s not really able to rationalise it as neatly as meta interpretations do. for him all that is happening is his father rejecting him.

tossing and turning in her bed, y/n met another sleepless night. she'd been trying to sleep for an hour now with no luck. memories of the past haunted her and dreams of the future preyed on her peace. y/n figured no one would be awake right now anyways, it was almost two in the morning. she snuck out of bed and made her way down to the lake.

she sat on the grass and admired the serenity of nature. the animals, the stars, the rhythm of the water. she sat there in silence and reflected.

hearing footsteps, y/n didn't turn around. she was prepared for chiron to tell her to go back to her cabin and that she was to be punished for staying out past curfew.

"what's my punishment for staying out past curfew?" she asked, mindlessly staring into the lake.

"i dunno, i'm no chiron." a deep voice responded, taking a seat next to her.

y/n chuckled, turning to face what she thought would be chiron, but was met with sea green eyes instead. it's like she froze and was thrown into the past.

"hey." percy smiled.

damn it, he still had a nice smile.

"i haven't talked to you in-"

"a while?" she guessed.

"i was going to say forever, but okay." he laughed. "how have you been?"

"pretty good. you?"

"same."

as the awkward small talk passed, y/n slowly recalled how her and percy had become such good friends in the first place. they talked about movies, shows, songs, books, and things that annoyed them. it's like she'd forgotten how much fun he was.

"yeah and then leo was all like 'i'm gonna fight you, don't play with me' and then jason stood up and he fell backwards." percy said, barely being able to communicate as he was suffocated by laughter.

y/n hadn't laughed this hard in years, well two years, really.

"i can't even remember why we stopped talking." percy said, looking at the lake.

"i can't remember either." y/n laughed. "you ever get intimidated by jason?"

"no, he's only an inch taller than me anyways, what do i have to fear?" percy smiled. "the only blonde i'm scared of is annabeth."

y/n sighed. it's like she remembered why they stopped being friends all those years ago. as bad memories came rushing back to her, she became silent.

"dude, you okay?" he asked.

"yeah, i'm fine." she smiled. "i'm just gonna leave now-"

"really?" he sighed.

"mhm." y/n said, sitting up. "nice talkin to you jackson."

"i don't get it y/n. we used to be best friends and one day a few summers ago, you went cold on me." he stated.

she just nodded, staring out into the distance.

"why?" he asked. "never talk to me again, sure. but at least tell me why."

"i've got no answer." she lied.

"liar. you don't even talk to me anymore. you avoid making eye-contact with me. you refuse to be in the same room as me without five other people there. and you've got no answer? i might be stupid, but i'm not that stupid."

"if you weren't that stupid, you would've sure as hell figured it out by now."

"i just want to know why." he sighed.

"i told you. i don't know." she persisted.

"just say it." he pressed.

"i don't know."

"just say it." he pushed again.

"i don't know." she said, beginning to get annoyed with him.

"just say it!" he said loudly.

"i'm leaving." she said, getting up.

"y/n! just tell me!" percy got up and followed.

"because i was in love with you!" she turned around and blurted.

silence fell amongst them.

"what?" he asked.

"because we were good friends, and i thought you cared about me. i mean we ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. we binged countless halloween movies. we played outside all the time. a-and you stuck up for me when annabeth said shit to me. and i thought i you liked me for who i was." she said, remembering all the reasons she'd fell for the man in the first place. "but then you started dating annabeth, and i couldn't stand it." she said, pausing.

he looked at her, his eyes filling with sympathy and regret.

"why didn't you say anything?" he asked.

"because, you chose her." y/n said. "what as the point of me saying anything?"

"i loved you, percy." she said, shakily. "for a long time."

"why don't you want to be friends with me anymore then?" he asked desperately. "if it's in the past, it's in the past-"

"because sometimes i feel like i still do!" you said.

suddenly, they were interrupted.

"percy, what the hell are you doing here?" a familiar voice questioned him.

y/n found herself looking at a woman with curly blonde hair and gray eyes.

"n-nothing." he said. "was jus' talking to y/n." he explained, still looking at y/n.

tension was still in the air.

"yeah, i'm uh, going to bed now too." y/n said, trying her very best to not cry.

"chiron's going to kill us, percy!" annabeth whisper-yelled.

"don't worry." y/n said. "you won't see me again." eyes locking with percy's.

"y/n-" percy called out.

but y/n had started walking back. she turned around one last time to see percy and annabeth walking away, side-by-side, hand-in-hand.

y/n walked back alone, as the only hand for her to hold was her own. y/n walked back, knowing she still did.

Chapter Fifteen: Picture

I got up before Tim and Dick, showering before either of them could stir. I was restless. “Jason, are you okay?” Dick asked with his eyes shut. 

“Yeah… I’m alright,” I lied. Dick made a soft noise in the back of his throat, like a low grunt. He wouldn’t push me for the truth. “They’ll find Tim’s parents,” Dick reassured me, “Are you nervous about seeing Donna?” Dick questioned. I didn’t answer.

Luckily, I didn’t have to. The ping of Dick’s phone woke Tim and interrupted a potentially awkward moment with Dick. “You should get that,” I whispered. Dick walked to the front door and let Donna in. I froze the moment I saw her. Tim wiped his eyes and looked at me. “Jason, what’s going on?” Tim asked. Last night probably felt like a bad dream. I smiled at him. 

“Good morning, Tim,” I whispered. Tim smiled before squinting at Donna. “Donna, this is my little brother, Tim. Tim, this is Donna.” I stood up, and Donna hugged me.

“You look great,” Donna whispered, “How are you?” 

I forgot how strong she was. “Hey, Donna? Can you put me down?” I chuckled. She gasped and let go of me, dusting my clothes off. “I’m alright. We’ve got a few days out of school, so we took the ferry here.” 

“Hey, Tim, can I steal your brother for a second?” Donna asked. Tim nodded. I promised Tim I’d return as I grabbed my phone and followed Donna outside. She took me to the roof, and we sat on the ledge together. “Dick told me you got in a fight a few months ago… And that you were in a dark place. I hope you don’t mind that he told me.” 

“I don’t… I’m doing bet—.” I was bombarded with an image of Janet and Jack’s lifeless bodies. I covered my mouth, fighting the urge to vomit. Sheila. Janet. Jack. Mom. Dad. So many graves. So many dead parents.

“Jason?” Donna asked. She touched my arm. 

I blinked hard. “Sorry… I—. I was in a dark place, but it’s been better since I met Tim. It’s been—. I’ve never had a normal life, but living with Tim’s family feels normal. I hope it stays that way,” I whispered.  She smiled. “Normal sounds good… But—. Jason, what are you hiding?” Donna asked. 

“Tim’s parents’ plane didn’t land where it was supposed to… They might be fine, but—. Donna, when I picture my parents in my head, I see corpses. I can’t remember what they looked like when they were alive. I don’t want that for him,” I answered. I needed to tell her. I didn’t expect Donna to understand, but I expected her to sympathize. She cared about me. I truly believed that. 

Donna sat with my words and swallowed hard. “Jason, is there anything I can do to help?” Donna questioned. I shook my head. 

“Batman’s on it… It’s funny. I left home because I wanted to show him what I could do—. I didn’t want him to think I needed him. I wanted to be independent of him, but I was useless to Tim. I can’t fly to the Caribbean and track his parents—. I’m not there yet. I still need him. I still need help,” I whispered. 

“There’s no shame in that. Jason, I have superpowers, and I need help. The League, the Titans, the Amazons, and the Green Lantern Corps… One strong person doesn’t make a hero. The best heroes know they can’t do this all by themselves. Do you understand that?” Donna asked. I smiled.

She didn’t know my plan would only work with Tim’s assistance and the help of a mystery teen hacker. I wouldn’t go in alone ever again. I was smarter than that. I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. “You’re right. I’ll be strong enough to be on a team again,” I whispered, “But I should go downstairs and check on Tim. I don’t think he remembers what happened last night.” Donna nodded and escorted me to Dick’s apartment. Tim hadn’t come out of the fog yet. I could see it in his eyes. “Good talk?” Donna whispered. 

“Great talk… Thanks, Donna,” I smiled. 

“Tim, do you want break—?” My phone pinged, and I checked my notifications. Tim’s parents were kidnapped, and the man responsible wanted a ransom for their safe return. My stomach turned. 

I could see them staring at me, but I couldn’t hear anything outside my heartbeat and the ringing I heard after the warehouse explosion. The apartment closed in, and I saw Jack and Janet again. I couldn’t wake up from the nightmare in my head. I tried to speak, but no sound came out. I shut my eyes until I could hear their voices, and I dragged Tim into Dick’s bedroom to talk. I sat beside him on the bed, hiding my face in my hands while I collected myself. “Tim, I—.”

“My parents died, didn’t they?” Tim interrupted.

“Wha—? No. Your mom and dad are alive. They’re alive, but they’re—. Tim, I don’t know how to put this. Someone kidnapped your parents,” I whispered. Tim swallowed hard. “You have a right to know.” 

“You found out right now, didn’t you?” Tim questioned. I nodded. “What was it like for you when you lost your parents?” 

I shook my head. “No. Tim, don’t—. Jack and Janet are still alive. We don’t have to think that. Tim, you can’t think that,” I answered. The question sent me spiraling into another panic. I covered my face again, and Tim plopped backward on the bed. 

“Jason… Can we take a walk? I need to take a walk,” Tim whispered.

I nodded. “Come on, Tim. I’ll buy breakfast,” I mumbled. Neither of us moved. “Tim, I’m sorry.” 

“You didn’t do anything wrong,” Tim answered, “I need a distraction… Okay?”

“We’ll go to the park after breakfast, and I’ll time you on your run,” I whispered. Tim patted me on the back on his way out the door. 

“Dick, we’re gonna get breakfast and take a walk!” I announced. I had to swallow my fear and keep going for Tim’s sake. Dick and Donna stayed behind to catch up.

We went to the skate shop near Dick’s building on the way back and decided to skate around the neighborhood. “I thought you were gonna get a new board… I didn’t think you’d put on rollerblades,” Tim laughed. 

“Rollerblading is sick. Come on,” I replied.

Tim shook his head, laughing as he skated ahead of me. We needed the distraction. Donna and Dick hung out on the fire escape when we arrived at the apartment. “Hey, Tim? Is he embarrassing you?” Dick joked. 

I rolled my eyes as we stopped in the alley. I changed into my shoes and followed Tim up. I felt a sharp pain in my back, and I lost my grip, but Tim caught me. Donna pulled me up by the back of my shirt. “I’m okay. I’m fine—.” 

Donna dusted me off and breathed out in relief. “Are you sure? I’m sorry that I jumped in like that, but I—. Instinct,” Donna replied. I nodded. 

“Thanks, Donna. Thanks, Tim,” I answered.

Hullo. May I ask why Dick is blorbo? No real reason, I'm just a curious and nosy follower :D

1. Young Justice - this show was a big reason why I got back into DC, and when I was younger, Dick and Artemis were my favorite characters because they were humans among superhuman people, and I found that neat. Young Justice season 3 I liked Dicks character arc and also-

2. I'm a sucker for sadboys. I think characters look better with a bit of blood on their faces. Connecting back to young justice season 3, Dick is a major sadboy 😅 shortly after watching season 3 of young justice, i started working 60-70 hour weeks (just for 1 summer) and to get through the day i would make up stories about how i thought Dicks season 4 arcs would go (this really cemented him as blorbo)

3. An irl friend was also into young justice, she got into batfam stuff, I'd never read fanfic before, and seeing her read it at first i was like "pffft i wouldn't get into that lame stuff" and lo and behold i got curious and spiraled. There's a looooot of sadboy Dick fics out there. Like. A lot. But yeah i started out as a batfam stan rather than a titans one, and in my heart i love both and theres an internal battle that wages within me

4. At the same time (or before?) i started reading fics, i also got into the comics from Young Justice. Part of the reason i like Dick is because there's literally just so much content i can read, and i started reading and rereading his solo runs and eventually branched out into titans comics. Not all his comics appearances are good, but I like having a lot of content 😅 it helps spark ideas and gives me "i can fix it" disease

5. His relationships with people!!!! A core reason of why I love the character is all the great relationships he's had across canon. He's a big brother/mentor to Tim and Damian (with Tim i love the image of infallibility Dick has, and his slow fall off the pedestal, and with Damian they start at the bottom and build things up from scratch - i love how he has to earn Damians respect by putting in the work). His relationship with Jason especially pre-reboot is a gold mind of agnst (like. Little brother dies while you're in space and your dad doesn't bother inviting you to the funeral *screams* and blames you for his death to some extent) - the way he knew Jason and they got along fine, though they didn't interact like a ton (i see it as like. Older sibling who's in college) and then one day he's just gone, then comes back and wants to kill you and is so blinded by revenge on your dead father he will destroy everything in his path is just, so much potential here. His relationship with Bruce makes me scream. I liked the few interactions he has with Cass before she got yeeted by DC. And moving outside the family, the found family aspect of the Titans i literally love so much. I cherish his friendship with Donna, I'm a big fan of platonic m/f relationships being given importance and weight, plus again the whole "i love angst" thing was on fire when she dies. I love his relationship with Roy, the way they push one another and butt heads while still deeply trusting one another + the thinly veiled sexual tension between them (i say thinly veiled because Grace literally points it out in Outsiders). His friendship with Wally is also fun, i like reading their team ups. There's so many characters that he interacts with it just sets up so many possible stories, and i love how interconnected he is in the superhero community

6. Man vs world. I like that Dick is a (mostly - everyone has flaws, and Dick does fuck up in canon) well intentioned person struggling against the injustices of the world. That's the long way of saying "i like him because he's a hero". But part of that is like - a lot of his battles narratively fall into man vs world (especially in his solos), with a bit of man vs self here and there, and i like these categories. Most of his conflict is external, and while i like some internal conflict, i get a little bit bored when characters in comics are too introspective - like some of this i don't mind, bonus points if the internal and external conflicts are aligned in a satisfactory way, but DC comics only lets characters grow so much, so introspective stuff can get repetitive imo

There's probably more reasons but this is what i can think of off the top of my head

Danny, his visit to Gotham over, goes back home none the wiser about what chaos he has inadvertently caused. He decides to keep up on news from Gotham, because honestly? Most stress-free weekend he’s ever had. He’s probably going to make that city his go-to vacation spot.

In the following days, he sees the gossip rags start to come out. At first, he thinks it’s funny that everyone started talking about some other Danny right after he was there. What a coincidence, am I right?

Jazz points out that they are very obviously talking about him, and even interviewed him on the way out of town. (Cue Sam and Tucker laughing in the background while Danny.exe crashes)

Next comes the realization (and mortification) that he accidentally pretended to be a billionaire’s son. Are the Waynes mad at him? They must be, right? Who wouldn’t! He can never show his face outside of Amity ever again. He is, of course, unaware that he has become the much beloved scapegoat of the family group chat. Patron god of pranks. All of them swear they don’t have a favorite brother except for Jason who says it’s Danny.

Tucker and Sam think the whole situation is hilarious: their secret hero friend is finally gaining some notoriety… for accidentally cosplaying as a Wayne. Amazing. It gets even more so when Vlad shows up and starts complaining. He declares Bruce Wayne his new mortal nemesis. Sam is ALL ABOUT making the billionaires fight, but Danny thinks he ought to go back to Gotham and somehow warn the family.

Hard cut to Tim, ordering an ungodly amount of caffeine from a nearby cafe. He, much like Bruce at that gala a week ago, is operating on 30 minutes of sleep and a healthy dose of spite. What can he say, it runs in the family.

Tim never got in on the Danny jokes, not because he didn’t think they were funny, but because he’s been working a case and hasn’t had the time. He saw the gossip, remembered the last time this happened, and brushed it off. Saw the “breaking news” of Bruce confirming it at a gala, and immediately chalks it up to the all-nighter that the two of them had pulled in the cave. Bruce has had mishaps similar to this before, after all. (There was that time that he accidentally started talking about Jason, completely forgetting that the public at large still thought him to be dead.) The BatChat starts talking about Danny, and Tim — being a reasonable and smart man — knows that they’re taking the piss, as usual. He is correct on all three accounts, because he knows his family, but he doesn’t actually check.

So here he is, waiting in line, minding his own business and ignoring the glances being thrown his way by fans… when suddenly, the general volume of the place raises: everyone is whispering, the door opens with a ding, a few people go “oh!” And turn to openly stare at Tim. Before he can see who’s come in, his order is ready.

He grabs his drink, turns around, and oh my god that’s Danny.

Bruce actually adopted another one, and Tim didn’t notice??

(For maximum amount of crack, have this happen to multiple members of the family, until they all come to the same conclusion that… surely they can’t all be mistaken? Danny was actually adopted and nobody knew for a week because of Bruce’s (everyone’s) terrible communication skills!

Danny is very worried and confused. Grateful, too, that they’re cool enough to let him crash at their manor for a few days (who knew that rich kids were funny enough to commit to the bit?), but mostly he’s just worried about how trusting they are. He would try to help them out a bit, maybe talk about stranger-danger to their youngest at the very least, but he doesn’t really have the spare energy to worry about that when he’s got to watch out for Batman getting mad about the new metas feuding in his city… he’s gotta hurry up and catch Vlad.)

Okay so we all know how Danny fits into the 'Wayne' look with dark hair and blue eyes. But hear me out. Bruce adopts kids too fast for the majority of the population to keep up so when citizens see Danny they just assume Bruce already adopted him and they just haven't checked the news yet.

Just Danny going to get a burger and the guy behind the counter goes, "on the house!" Danny doesn't question it and moves on. People just keep treating him with great respect thinking he's a Wayne and Danny is just oblivious.

At the end of his trip or whatever he explains how he has no idea why people complain about muggings and crime, everyone was just so nice there.

Not until like a week later at a fancy party a news person asks Bruce where his newest son Danny is and Bruce is just so fucking confused. He doesn't remember adopting a Danny, but he doesn't want to be wrong and look like a bad father for forgetting one of his kids so he panics and says he's in his room or some bs.

Later he realizes that he has adopted no Danny but now people think he did and he can't say "Oh I don't actually have a son Danny" after telling someone that he did have a Danny.

The news gets curious on why they don't ever see Danny. Bruce says that poor little Danny is camera shy and isn't ready to be in the spotlight yet. The rest of his kids are absolutely dying watching to see how far this lie takes Bruce and tell him it's his fault for not remembering his own kids.

I think Tim is the cryptid of the superhero community. Hear me out:

In Young Justice, it’s explicitly stated multiple times that Tim Drake’s Robin has never been caught on film. There are no pictures or videos. Even earlier on, in World’s Finest Three, Tim gets Superboy to take all of the credit for taking down Metallo and Poison Ivy (something even the reporters find hard to believe) because Tim can’t let anyone know it was Robin.

Furthermore in Young Justice, the ongoing conflict between Robin and his team is that they find it hard to trust him because he can’t reveal his identity to them. But more than that, he can’t reveal his identity to anyone, he isn’t supposed to let anyone know that Robin even exists. There are fake “files” on all of the characters and even the government doesn’t know who the f Robin is, and the file questions whether or not he actually exists.

Then, there’s the part of the comics where Tim is forced to give up Robin, and Steph replaces him for a bit, and literally nobody outside of Gotham knows. He didn’t tell his friends, Bruce didn’t tell anyone, nobody knows that Tim isn’t Robin anymore. And then, he comes back. Just as out of the blue.

In the Red Robin run, it’s canon that nobody knows where Tim is aside from Ra’s al Ghul (who stalked him from the start and so shouldn’t count). Oracle doesn’t know where he is, none of his friends know (two of them are “dead,” so it’d be hard for them to know), everyone who runs into him is like “??? who tf???” Even Dick only has a vague idea. The whole point of Tam’s side plot is that it is nigh impossible to find Tim unless he decides to collapse onto your hotel room’s bed while bleeding out next to an assassin. As one does.

What does this mean?

It means that some superheroes definitely don’t believe that Tim exists, probably the younger ones. Superman or someone is like “Man, I miss the Robin that didn’t threaten me with swords,” and they’re like “Dick?” “No.” “Jason?” “No.” “??? The girl one?” “No.”

Like, some people have definitely never seen/heard of this weird third Robin, and they definitely think it’s something the older heroes are making up to mess with them. On conspiracy boards in Gotham, some people tell tale of the third Robin, the one that came before the Stabby Robin, and other people are like “You’re making this up! This guy doesn’t exist!”

I bet Duke is occasionally like “Hey, I haven’t seen Tim in like three weeks, is he still alive?” And someone else (Dick or Bruce) is just like “What are you talking about? Tim’s been sitting over in that corner.” And Duke just sees Tim unmoving in a corner, and is like “…that doesn’t answer the question, is he still alive?”

Tim is canonically, in the comics, the best at remaining unseen. He’s a cryptid. Kon and Bart tell horror stories about him and have blurry photos (taken blurrily on purpose in the same vein as Big Foot) that they show younger heroes. Jason occasionally regales his goons with stories of a creepy stalker child who fights crime. Dick tells his coworkers about his brothers but they don’t believe Tim exists because everytime they ask for a photo of him, Dick just shrugs and says he’s a bit camera shy. Damian complains about his brothers and all of his classmates are kind of worried he made up Tim, because he’s never come (it’s funny to imagine Jason and Dick and Bruce all coming to pick up Damian from school. It’s funnier to imagine that even Cass has picked him up). Several workers at Wayne Enterprises think that “Tim Drake-Wayne” is just a made up entity to keep the company out of enemy hands.

You know the whole Baterang to the throat thing that causes a lot of discussion in the fandom? I think Bruce might not have been aiming for the throat

This point in comics Bruce has been through a ringer Steph's died, Barbara and Jim have left, Leslie betrayed him and he's had to send Cass and Tim away and now Jason is back but for revenge so Bruce isn’t at his best and I think Bruce threw the Baterang in a moment of panic and either over or undershot which ended up with well that.

This moment causes a lot of debate but I don't see it as “Bruce harming Jason to save the joker” the way a lot of fics paint it I see it more as he'd been aiming for Jason's arm or something to disarm him but overshot and it’s kind of like a symbolism of their relationship. 

 Which is basically Bruce takes an action to stop Jason from going down a path that he thinks will end up hurting Jason, but ends up hurting Jason in the long-run.

Like when he discussed taking away robin from Jason (because he thought Jason needed time to deal with issues that were becoming more prevalent) which only ended up making Jason feel insecure about his position in the Wayne household, contributing to why he so desperately pursued a stable parental relationship in his biological mother.

Bruce knows that if he gives in and kills the Joker he'll never stop killing we've seen timelines that prove that and I think Bruce also thinks the same of Jason that if Jason kills the Joker he won't stop at all so it’s not that he’s saving the Joker but that he’s trying to save Jason but Bruce ultimately misunderstands Jason’s needs and winds up hurting him.

Bruce is trying to save Jason from what he sees as a downwards spiral, but he ends up hurting him not just emotionally, but physically, and in the most extreme way possible. It's like an even darker echo of how trying to bench him as Robin led to his death.

Bruce has spent YEARS haunted by the memory of Jason’s death his death fundamentally changed Bruce's entire character Alfred said that Jason's death affected Bruce more than his own parents death.

In Underworld Unleashed it's revealed that his greatest desire is to have Jason back, in Hush he talks about how he wanted to put Jason in the Lazarus Pit and how he believes Jason knew he always loved him, and in As The Crow Flies we learn that his greatest fear is Jason coming back as an enemy and then in Under the Red Hood he gets Jason back (his greatest desire) but as an antagonist (his greatest fear) and moreover his belief that Jason 'knew' he loved him is WRONG.

Jason's insecurities from before his death combined with the perceived betrayal of Bruce not avenging him have led Jason to the point where he genuinely believes Bruce doesn't care, and in Jason's eyes, killing the joker is the only way Bruce can prove that he does but instead, in that moment, Bruce's attempt to diffuse the situation backfires.

Bruce misunderstands what Jason needs in that moment like he misunderstood what Jason needed at the start of Death in the Family it's just the ultimate representation of their constant emotional feedback loop. They trap themselves in a cycle of fighting because Jason can't read how Bruce really feels and Bruce can't read what Jason really needs and in that moment both those things are true, with Jason not seeing that Bruce truly cares anymore, and Bruce not knowing how to properly deescalate the situation and show Jason that he still cares.

It's extremely easy to read the batatrang throw as purposeful even though I wholly believe it was accidental but if that moment was explored more, I'm positive that Jason would believe it wasn't an accident, and would view it as proof of his already held view that Bruce doesn't love him anymore after all, that could have killed him, symbolically disowning him in the most extreme way possible.

Heck in Jason's appearance in Green Arrow (2001) Bruce had thought Jason might have died again! Before Jason turned up to mess with Mia.

The thing that's tragic about Jason that actually leads to a lot of his own suffering is that Jason doesn't really know what a healthy relationship looks like so I'm not sure when his actual 'last straw' would be.

Jason is the kind of person who sees love and acceptance as entirely circumstantial. He believes he must /earn/ love and acceptance, i.e. by being Robin, rather than it being inherently given.

A huge piece of understanding Robin Jason is understanding how much he lacked proper support systems back then. School was his only connection to his kids his age, and he didn't benefit much from that connection, his life was essentially: manor, school, Robin, repeat.

Jason loved school, but his school life was also pretty depressing. Jason kept to himself, he didn't have the time to participate in extracurriculars even when he wanted to and his peers didn't view him very positively. Jason was also really isolated from the rest of the hero community, there was his stint with the Titans, but it was pretty brief. He was also penpals with Kid Devil, but for the most part, he just had Batman.

The lack of support is actually one of the reasons I give for Jason and Steph dying in universe since they were the two Robins without support systems outside of Gotham. When Bruce was a jerk Dick and Tim could be like 'fine I'm going to go hang out with the Teen Titans or Young Justice' but Jason and Steph could only be like 'oh no' plus Bruce would deliberately try to take away Steph's support systems that she did have multiple times like when he ordered Cass to stop training with Steph.

But that's besides the point, I wouldn't be surprised if Jason confused being Robin with being accepted in the manor so when Bruce threatened to take away Robin from him, he might've seen it as his only proper support system being taken away from him, his world felt rocked back into instability once again.

When you look at it like that, it's very easy to understand why Jason sought out his biological mother. He had a hope that Sheila would offer him that stability once more, and that he'd get support and trust and unconditional love.

And that’s what make it all the more heartbreaking to me he came to this woman seeking love and gave her his greatest secret and she repaid him with a horrific death.  Jason’s death is one of the saddest to me because there’s no high stakes 'he died saving the world stuff' he’s just a kid who wanted a mom and got killed for it.

DC’s habit of taking away who he was is so detrimental to his backstory as the Red Hood because the transformation from someone who tried being kind and who did give it their all being killed for it and coming back like ‘no more’ is so much more interesting than ‘we always knew this would happen’.

Robin disobeying orders is nothing new. If that was the core of why Jason died, then any Robin disobeying orders should never be put in a positive light, but often it is. Jason (and Steph) were just the ones unlucky enough to emerge dead and judged for it instead of alive and praised for it.

Jason died because he was a child who just wanted to be safe and loved.

So many times Robin disobeying orders saved lives it’s nothing new and Jason had a pretty solid reason, the story of Jason Todd should be portrayed as the tragedy not make him some warning sign.

This is why I always hated the victim blaming after Jason & Steph's deaths because they died doing what if it had been Tim or Dick a Robin would be praised for, like take Steph for example we've seen constant stories of Bruce firing Robin, them going off on their own & Bruce realising he's wrong & taking them back but when Steph goes off on her own she dies the only reason Jason & Steph died is that the writers forced them to fail where they would have allowed the others to succeed.

But anyway back to my point the thing about Jason feeling like he had to earn love is why he was initially so hung up on the idea of Bruce 'replacing' him when he came back to life, he viewed Tim being robin as Bruce /transferring/ his love for Jason to another person, rather than seeing that Bruce could love Tim while still loving and missing him.

The reason Jason sought out his mother after Bruce benched him as Robin was that he viewed Bruce benching him as Bruce rejecting him and latched onto the idea of finding someone, i.e. a birth mother, who is supposed to give /unconditional love/.

The fact that his birth mother REJECTED HIM and then played a hand in his murder undoubtedly affected his attitude when he came back, if even his mother didn't want him, and then Bruce let the joker live and replaced him, then, in Jason's eyes, OF COURSE Bruce doesn't care and as mentioned previously Jason didn't really have any friends in school or the hero community, believing that the only real close personal connection in your live, someone you spent all your time with, had forgotten about you and rejected you is bound to mess a person up.

My thoughts on Tim Drake now being queer: I love it. However, not for the reasons you’d expect.

To be perfectly honest, I have sincere doubts about Timkon ever happening in canon, and it may be better if it doesn’t. Timkon could very easily be a mistake. I would love to see it happen of course, but the only reason for it to happen would be for it to compete with Wiccan and Hulkling from Marvel-due to their similar dynamics, demographics, and characters-but by doing so they would actually devalue both Tim and Connor by essentially forcing them to serve as foils to a more popular couple that was canon from the start, thus sending the message that DC is only willing to make LGBT+ characters and relationships for the purpose of competing with Marvel. This would not only devalue the significance of any and all LGBT+ characters within the DC universe, but in the process be a pretty serious hit to the LGBT+ community by basically openly stating that the only reason LGBT+ characters exist is to make money, rather than because they deserve to exist and it is normal for them to exist. So, as much as people want Timkon, it may be for the best that it never happens.

Now, let’s address the value of Tim’s queerness. We can start by looking at his character as a whole. Originally Tim was the prodigy Robin, performing well amongst audiences and showing himself to be capable and well fleshed out. However with the introduction of Damian-as we all have noticed and commented on-Tim’s character has slowly degraded over time, becoming less and less significant and pushed off further to the side. Much of his popularity has been superseded by Damian, in no small part because Damian has taken his place as the main Robin now. Thus, for a good while Tim has been stuck in a limbo both in real life and in the comics. Damian has slowly usurped his place in the family-for the most part unintentionally-and left Tim as something of an outsider, his only real significance in his relationships. However many of the people closest to him have died, left him, or he has distanced himself from in recent years, leading him to a tumultuous state where his character is at a point of flux. He is no longer Red Robin, but he cannot truly be Robin with Damian around. He’s not dating Steph anymore, and he’s reunited with this cute boy he was friends with a while ago and who clearly is interested in him. Thus, he is clearly going through some intense emotional changes, one of which appears to be a crisis of sexuality. Now, to explain, I do not believe that he is in any way concerned about his sexuality, but I do believe that all of this is new to him and he is still figuring himself out. Thus we get a real chance to see Tim develop a lot as a character for the first time in several years, and perhaps gain a lot more significance in the process

Now let’s examine the thought behind making him queer. This is very clever in my opinion, and though it could be taken as a bit underhanded it doesn’t diminish the positive impact of Tim’s becoming a member of the LGBT+ community. The fact of the matter is, Urban Legends’ decision to make him queer was greenlit solely because of his performance in recent years. For YEARS Tim was the most popular Robin, a massive success. Everyone loved him, and as evidenced by earlier comics where he was without Batman-such as the Young Justice series, in which he was one of the main characters alongside fellow members Impulse, Superboy, and Wonder Girl. But since the introduction of Damian, his popularity and significance have steadily waned until today, where he is one of the lower performing Gotham heroes and frequently overlooked as a character. All of the other members of the Batfamily have a hook of some kind, particularly the other Robins-present and former. Dick was the first, and his popularity as Nightwing is also tremendous. Jason is the rebel, and the one Batman couldn’t save. Damian is the blood son, the former assassin Bruce tries so hard to do right by. And Stephanie was the only girl, the daughter of Batman’s villain-third rate or otherwise-with a significant audience of her own as one of the major female members of the Batfamily. However Tim was only ever known as Robin, and as a member of Young Justice. Well, Young Justice has, for the moment, taken a sideline due to the popularity of the animated show, and Red Robin was never as popular as his siblings’ solo identities. Take DCeased as an example: Both Dick and Bruce were elaborated on-either in plot or by Damian and Jason-while Tim ended up with a tombstone that simply said ‘the best of us’. He got basically no time in the hit series, nor in Dark Knights or Joker War-both central to Batman and the Batfamily.

In addition to the progress DC has shown by allowing Urban Legends to write this, it was a clever marketing move designed to capitalize on the increasing significance, sway, and wealth of the LGBT+ community, which is one of the fastest growing markets with some of the largest spending power. Not only does it give Tim a unique hook that draws people in to his character-as well as making room for some significant development on his part-it also attracts an immediate and significant crowd in the form of LGBT+ comic readers, who have long been awaiting such a move by DC.

Tim Drake’s status as an LGBT+ character has been a long time coming, and I for one am glad that DC decided to finally act and make it canon. Not only does this spell good things for the future of Tim Drake and the Batman comics in general, it also shows that DC is not afraid to make controversial decisions and take risks in order to make better stories and more compelling characters. And that, to me, is worth far more than simply making a new LGBT+ superhero or villain.

Ichigo and Uryuu are very confused when their “cousin” Kazuma shows up to introduce his new bride to the family. 3.1.  A Code of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Lelouch, his two younger siblings, and Lelouch’s most loyal followers are reincarnated into Westeros. Lelouch proceeds to make it his lifelong mission to drive Cersei into frothing fits and strengthens the Baratheon dynasty to the point that even Tywin is impressed by his grandson’s machinations. Then CC shows up with dragons and Ned Stark starts to think that maybe Robert’s onto something with the “drinking to forget” idea. Meta

3.2.  Abandon Thyself: Post-Zero Requiem Suzaku travels back in time to the scene in the Shinjuku Ghettos when the truck explodes. Given that the people closest to him haven’t actually spoken to Suzaku in years, the origins of Suzaku’s obvious mental instability is hilariously misattributed by various outside PoVs. So when Suzaku hits his knees in front of Lelouch, swearing eternal devotion and vowing to make Lelouch the next emperor nobody panics. (They should really reconsider panicking.) 3.3.  The Sun Also Rises: At the moment of his death in the Zero Requiem, Lelouch travels back in time to his childhood body. With only a week to go before Marianne is “assassinated by terrorists” Lelouch sets out to rearrange the board in a way none of the other players will see coming until it’s far too late. Lelouch has been given a second chance to make things right, and Lelouch wouldn’t be Lelouch if he didn’t plan big. This time around, Lelouch plans for his victory to be a bit more obvious. 4.1.  Time Enough: Terry McGinnis, his little brother Matt, and their dogs are the only members of their timeline to survive because Bruce Wayne was too old to see any more of his sons die in front of him. So they all got knocked out, shoved into an escape capsule, and ejected from the Batman Beyond timeline before it crumbles. Said time pod crashes into the middle of a Red Hood versus Match throw down, and Terry’s Wayne-inherited charisma is so powerful it allows him to banter his way into good graces of both villains. 5.1.  Saiyajin Pride: Alien biology has a larger impact on characterization that it does in canon. Mirai comes back to the main timeline live in sin with Videl and Gohan. Vegeta and Goku deal with some shit that comes from being the last full-blooded members of their species. Then just as things are settling down… Garlic is an idiot who thinks up a loophole in the “can’t wish people dead” rule and wishes Goku and Vegeta’s families straight out of existence and they end up in an entirely different reality. 6.    FAIRY TAIL

6.1.  Flight Of Dragons: Future!Lucy misses her target and ends up landing further back in time, during the same year Natsu and the rest of the Dragon Slayer kids were brought to when they were pulled forward in time.  Fairy Tail luck kicks in, and future!Lucy runs into child!Laxus as he escapes from his father after being fed the Lightning Dragon Lacrima. Laxus is handed a Prophecy and runs with it. Children have never needed Fairy Tales to tell them that Dragons exist, but they certainly help. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

Since all of his brothers are dead, Leo sees no reason not to make the most of this “lifelong bond of magic and spirit” and adopts Louise as his little sister. Halgenkia is not prepared for a Louise Francois le Blanc de la Valliere with ninja training. Henrietta is probably far too gleeful over making her best friend her Spymaster, but it’s not like anyone knows enough about what they’re doing to stop her. 8.    FINAL FANTASY VII

8.1.  A Dirge of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Several members of Avalanche and the Elite Soldiers are reincarnated as the spares and bastards of Westeros’ Great Houses. Given that Rhaenys Targaryen used to be Cid Highwind, the Sack of King’s Landing goes very differently. Meta

8.2.  A Feather’s Weight: Crossover with Naruto – Kakashi and Obito, along with their respective subordinates, are reincarnated in Wutai, and are thus in position to undermine a lot of Hojo’s plans simply by being themselves. Wutai still loses, but by a much smaller margin, and SHIN-RA realizes much too late that Wutai’s “concession” was a trap. Kakashi is a big shiny distraction for Sephiroth, the SOLDIERS revolt, and nobody knows who assassinated President Shinra. Chaptered, WIP - Unposted

8.3.  Antiviral: Woden and Gaia conspire to create antibodies to fight off Jenova’s infection. Cid and Vincent end up bearing the brunt of this decision, get roofied by Divine Intervention, and also end up the Gaian equivalent of demonic werewolves. 8.4.  For Love Of: Cid Highwind crashes the Tiny Bronco into Lucrecia’s cave, does the metaphysical equivalent of tearing her heart out and eating it to absorb her power, and them proceeds to adopt General Sephiroth as his son because it’s not like anyone can stop him. Cid Highwind does what he wants. Sephiroth does what Mother wants. SHIN-RA soon regrets everything because Cid Highwind is a hell of a lot better at rewriting the social order than Avalanche is. 8.5.  Hindsight is 20-20: CHAOS decides to rewrite time because they have a massive crush on Cid and they don’t want him to die. CHAOS fumbles the landing and Cid ends up in the body of some weird Lucrecia/Ancient-Cetra-Who-Was-Jenova’s-Host Clone and ends up giving birth to Sephiroth. Things only get worse from there. Ned, fully believing that this is his punishment for failing his family and best friend the first time around, decides to fix the Realm by fulfilling the Pact of Fire and Ice. The other Box Animals think it’s a great idea and do the same with their humans, and this results in the kind of alternate timeline that gives Byakuran a headache. 19.3.               Miles To Go: Post-MCU Civil War almost-Time Travel where Tony grieves so hard he sends an Extremis injector capsule to the year before the Winter Soldier murdered his parents. Said capsule lands in front of a wasted 15-year-old Tony in the aftermath of a frat party. Cue the face hugger scene. 19.4.               Perception: Instead of killing Scott in X3, Dark Phoenix instead fixes the brain damage that prevented him from controlling his optic blasts and then shunts him trough time an space. 20.1.               A Feather’s Weight: Crossover with FFVII – Kakashi and Obito, along with their respective subordinates, are reincarnated in Wutai, and are thus in position to undermine a lot of Hojo’s plans simply by being themselves. Wutai still loses, but by a much smaller margin, and SHIN-RA realizes much too late that Wutai’s “concession” was a trap. Kakashi is a big shiny distraction for Sephiroth, the SOLDIERS revolt, and nobody knows who assassinated President Shinra. WIP - Unposted

20.2.               A Space Between Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – The Konoha Founders and their siblings are reincarnated as Starks and Baratheons and manage to save the Realms of Men while resolving their many and varied issues with one another. Meta

20.3.               A Widening Gyre: Rin survives the Chidori and her existence is now an S-class secret. Said S-class secret distracts Obito on his way to ambush Kushina’s labour and several different chase scenes take place. They all end up in the ROOT base made from one of Tobirama’s old labs and instead of Kyuubi getting loose Team Ro, the Fourth Hokage’s team of bodyguards, Obito, Anko, and all of ROOT plus Danzo himself get dumped into the Warring Clans Era. Obito kills Danzo in a panic when he realizes that taking the Bijuu means killing Rin, Kakashi sacrifices himself again, and there is a lot more running around. Kakashi suborns ROOT en masse, Obito is stupidly overpowered and homicidal but it’s okay because Kakashi is playing damsel in distress and distracting him. The Senju and the Uchiha are all really confused by these kids, there are far too many mistaken identities, and Konoha gets founded much earlier than in canon. Meta

20.4.               According to Custom: Hashirama and Madara should not be left unsupervised (that’s why Mito and Touka tend to lurk nearby when they have tea together) because it causes them to get Brilliant Ideas. This time they decide to make friends with one another’s little brothers. How Madara went from being “nice” to Tobirama to courting the oblivious younger Senju is still something of a mystery, but there are several bets riding on when Tobirama is going to realize what’s going on. Their daughter was a mermaid and thus needed to remain on Fishman Island for her own safety. Gol D Ann gives no shits about anybodies prejudices and when her mixed up genetics mean her feet come in about 20 years early she immediately takes off to track down her baby brother. Day 3: Siblings

Dinner. One day after meeting her father for the first time. She had managed to postpone any sort of… socialization and emotional bonding, during their meeting earlier for everyone to choose from Marinette’s initial sketches for them and generally consult some more, by once again steamrolling everyone with Professionalism and Business Marinette.

But no longer. She couldn’t escape. Staring at a giant wooden, elaborate door like it was her pathway to Prison—

“Stop dramatizing everything in your head, Mari,” Adrien fondly scolded, gently rapping the side of her skull with one knuckle. “I got things to do, for your company I might add, so I can’t stay. But, you’ll be fine,” he leaned in, smirking at her and winking as he lowered his voice. “Besides, you’ve been through way worse than a little family reunion, Bugaboo. You’ve faced down way scarier people than the Waynes. You got this,” he encouraged before giving her a solid clap on the shoulder and a chaste kiss on the cheek, walking back towards their sleek but understated dark red car. Rented, of course, for the business trip, but nonetheless very nice.

Adrien had driver’s licenses for just about every major country. Marinette stopped questioning it a while ago.

She waited until he was gone before throwing her hands up. “Scarier people, he says. Like the Bat clan isn’t known for being some of the most intimidating heroes and vigilantes in the spotlight,” she grumbled. When she turned around, it was to the door already being open, and she jumped a bit in surprise. She hadn’t heard anyone answer the door, but sure enough Alfred Pennyworth stood there holding the door with a small smile, with Bruce Wayne and all of Marinette’s siblings gathered behind him. At least this time, nobody had their spouses or children. Every one of them was smirking, some more sharply than others (Damian).

“Would you like to come in, Miss Dupain-Cheng?” Alfred asked, waving his hand to gesture to the fact that there was plenty of room for her to enter. Blushing, she did just that, taking a breath and forcing herself to actually look at the family she had just met instead of down at her glossy navy blue pumps. Jason, the man with the white fringe in his hair. Second Robin, current Red Hood, her mind supplied, spoke up with a grin and his arms crossed over his chest.

“You don’t look so suave anymore, little Queenie,” he teased. Marinette instantly made a face, screwing up her nose.

“No. That nickname is vetoed. One of my friend’s nicknames is Queenie, and not only will she never let me live it down if she finds out someone called me that, but, just no,” Marinette dramatically shivered. “Most of my friends call me Princess nowadays anyway,” she shrugged. “Adrien started it, and it somehow caught on. It’s too much work to protest at this point.”

“You’re not good with crowds,” the soft spoken woman, Cassandra, decided to add. Marinette winced, shifting on her feet even as she followed the group to the dining room.

“Ehhh. I’ve gotten used to dealing with press and stuff, to a certain degree anyway considering my alias. And wearing my Business persona always helps in consultations. But, I’m not…” Marinette bit the inside of her cheek, clearly a little uncomfortable as she looked around. “The best at… actually talking to people outside of my small group of friends.”

Bruce sighed as most of his kids chuckled or snorted at that. Dick, the oldest but second-shortest of the men besides Tim, came over and draped an arm familiarly over Marinette’s shoulders. He still towered over her though, so he had to slouch a bit to do so.

“Ah, that would be the genetics. Let’s hope you stay where you are at instead of getting as bad at communication as B,” he told her cheerfully. She raised an eyebrow at him.

“What about Damian?”

“He’s even worse!”

“Tt,” said teenager tutted, rolling his eyes as they entered the dining room and he was able to come up to Marinette’s other side. “That was mostly how I was raised before I met Father. I have gotten a lot better than I used to be, Grayson.”

Dick gave him a smile, graciously relieving Marinette of the close contact in favor of rustling Damian’s hair despite the fact that the younger Wayne was taller than him already. “Yes, you sure have! But you still need improvement, baby bird.”

Soon enough, everyone managed to get seated around the large dining table. Bruce insisted that Marinette take one of the seats next to him at the head of the table, across from Damian, since this was her first family dinner. Dick sat next to her, Jason across from him, followed by Tim and Duke on Damian’s side of the table. On the other side of Dick sat Cassandra, and then Stephanie. Alfred served everyone before also taking a seat at the table, on the opposite end from Bruce.

And, true to BatFam tradition, everything was a little awkward for the first minute or two. Marinette didn’t know what to say, and nobody quite knew where to begin. Dick would normally start a conversation, but he was trying to glare into Bruce’s head a silent message of “talk to her, damn it.”

Finally seeming to get it, Bruce cleared his throat and turned to Marinette. “So, I wanted to ask. When do you find out about being my daughter?”

Several people around the table closed their eyes in mourning for Bruce’s social skills. Marinette though, just smiled in slight relief at the decision of how to start talking being taken from her.

“Oh. It was in stages, really. When I was ten, we started our unit in school on genetics. I don’t usually care enough about science to do much more than the school requires, but genetics captivated me for some reason. I researched it almost obsessively at home for a while, almost instantly realizing that there had to be a reason that I had blue eyes when none of the rest of my family did. After a week or two, I found my Maman and Papan’s adoption papers in their room,” she blushed, tugging on one end of her bangs, which she had framing her face since she was wearing her hair down that day. “I uh… I’ve always been a little nosy. I never told them that I found the papers, to me it was just the answer I needed. I didn’t think about it at all after that, and my obsession over genetics went away. It wasn’t until I was thirteen that I decided to look into my birth parents,” Marinette sighed, shoving a bite of food in her mouth to buy her time before continuing. Everyone was focused on her, and it was a little unsettling. Every one of them had a sharper gaze than a normal person, and it made her feel like she was made of glass and everyone else could see right through her. “I was going through a lot, back then. I wanted someone to be mad at, I wanted to be able to blame my DNA for the things that had happened.”

“Things?” Bruce interrupted, back straight and eyebrows drawn down. “What things?” Marinette giggled, tilting her head instead of answering and just letting her eyes study him. Bruce Wayne, Batman, the Dark Knight. Original vigilante of Gotham city, one of the founding members of the Justice League. Famous for his secrecy, intimidating presence, and intelligence. Then she switched her gaze, one by one, to everyone else at the table before leaning back and taking a sip of her soda.

“Do you guys know anything about the situation Paris experienced for four years?” She asked, instead of directly answering. It was Tim who frowned, leaning forward to look at her and reply.

“I heard very vague rumors of weird things, but nothing concrete enough to investigate. What happened?”

Marinette hummed, deciding to sum it up for them. “The short version? When I was thirteen, a classmate of mine spontaneously turned into a giant rock monster and destroyed a good portion of the city. Turns out, that was the first of many attacks by our city’s very own supervillain, Hawkmoth. He had a magical artifact that allowed him to take advantage of anyone’s negative emotions to give them powers and brainwash them into being, essentially, temporary villains that he used for his own means. Two heroes showed up out of nowhere, powered by similar magical artifacts, to combat him and free the people he corrupted. Ladybug and Chat Noir, the original Parisian heroes and the leaders of the team that later had to form.”

Jason frowned, along with everyone else at the table. Finally, it was Duke who asked:

“How did we not know about villains in Paris?” To which Marinette just gave him a dangerously wicked smirk that was far too similar to Damian’s for anyone’s comfort.

“Because I do my job,” she told him flatly, sipping from her cup as everyone stared at her in various amounts of shock. “That’s why finding out that my biological father was Batman made so much sense. That’s why I wanted to find out who my birth parents were. I wanted to blame the heroism on genetics. And, it doesn’t look like I was exactly wrong.”

Yeah, that was how her first family dinner and subsequent identity reveal went.

Luckily, considering that Bruce had hired MDC for a pretty long job, Marinette was able to finish school online instead of going back to Paris for it. There was no real need anyway, they had defeated Hawkmoth and gotten Adrien emancipated so for now it was calm in Paris. They didn’t need their heroes anymore, for the time being. This meant that Marinette and Adrien, along with a few employees that helped measure and cut fabric and do secretarial duties they needed help with, got to stay in Gotham while Marinette went back and forth to Wayne manor, Wayne Tower, and back to their temporary home.

After about a month, Marinette was comfortable enough with the Waynes that she found herself lounging in the bat cave as she sketched, though she kept raising her eyes to the glass tubes that held old uniforms. Damian was sat across from her, essentially laying out over two chairs while he played some game upside down on his phone. He might usually be a cold brat, even for a sixteen year old, but even he liked to abuse the way furniture should be used and ignore the world via technology.

But he still caught her constantly wandering gaze.

“You don’t like them.”

“They suck!” Marinette immediately agreed, slamming her sketchbook on the metal briefing table. “Your Robin outfit is the only passable one there is! The colors aren’t even the issue, even high fashion designers can appreciate a good color clash moment. But what was Father thinking?! Putting Grayson in that glorified onesie— why are there no pants?! Jason’s at least as a cape that can cocoon his body and prevent anyone from seeing the disaster beneath. I should thank Tim for at least upgrading the suit to having pants, but he still kept the outside-underwear look that I cannot forgive. The attempt at fashion, though, is appreciated. Disappointing, but appreciated.”

“That pretty much sums them all up,” Damian quipped, getting a snort of amusement out of his sister. Maybe that was one thing he had grown to like about her. She didn’t reprimand him for his sense of humor, and usually she even laughed along. The more morbid humor would get a playful shove and a glare, but no real animosity. And she understood him on a different level, too. One he appreciated even more.

“You said, yesterday, that the Cure brings back everyone who dies during a Miraculous-related incident,” Damian spoke up again after a moment, pointedly not looking at her. “Did you ever count?”

Marinette, this being one of the reasons he was quickly growing fond of her, immediately understood. She sighed, closing her notebook. She might have only been two years his elder, but she had had what felt like a lifetime of more experiences than he did, usually in the friendship and social department though. They were roughly equal in their heroism experience, which was weird to think about, but Damian still valued her input. It was different from the rest of the family.

“It was different in Paris than it would be for anyone else. I didn’t keep track of the number of people who died,” she finally answered, taking her hair out of its work bun and running her hands through the midnight black locks. “But I kept track of how often. Since nobody remembered their deaths, I guess I felt it was my responsibility to remember my failures for them. My former best friend, Alya. Over the course of those four years, she died seventeen times. Her boyfriend, Nino, died fourteen. The Mayor died three times. Chloe, my current friend and former bully, died twenty-two times,” she grimaced at Damian’s shocked expression, nodding grimly. “During those first two, maybe two and a half years, she was one of the primary Akuma targets. She was still either an active bully or in the beginning of trying to change for the better, so she caused a lot of negative emotions everywhere she went. Things got better once she matured a bit, though. Anyway, there’s this girl I used to babysit. Manon. She died five times before she was even ten years old,” Marinette shook her head, that look of age and exhaustion that Damian saw in every Wayne and every hero he had ever fought with seeping into her eyes. “My parents, they died thirty-seven times. They were constantly worried about me, and ran into danger on several occasions trying to find and keep me safe. But I could never tell them who I was. I physically could. I had the power to sit them down and say; Hey, I’m Ladybug. Stop running out and getting yourselves killed. But I never did. I valued my identity first. So I usually ended up seeing, in the middle of a fight, one or both of them squished under falling debris. Or drowned. Frozen solid. Burned alive,” she paused, taking a deep breath to steady herself. “So no. I don’t understand what it was like for you, to count bodies as you felled them. But hell, if it doesn’t feel like I should. Logic doesn’t mean much in the face of emotion, especially guilt. I know I didn’t kill the people I care about, but every single one of their deaths weighs on me like I was the one that caused it.”

Damian nodded, and they shared a few moments of peaceful, contemplative silence as they both ruminated on their less than pleasant memories without fear of being yelled at for what those memories contained.

“But, I do have a secret,” she admitted softly, attracting her brother’s emerald-eyed attention again. The normally cheerful woman was much more subdued even than before, sapphire irises self conscious and vulnerable, which was rare. She licked her lips, even more rare considering her love of her light pink lipstick, and moved off her chair so that she was, instead, sitting on the cold stone floor. Without hesitation, Damian joined her.

“Technically, it didn’t happen. It was a timeline that my friend, the one who I gave the snake Miraculous, essentially erased when he reversed time. But I remember it even though I shouldn’t. How could I forget?”

“You took a life,” Damian whispered, grimacing in empathy. “First time?”

“And the second, and the fifth,” she admitted. “Viperion had to try seven times before I stopped repeating it. But it was always the same person, back during our final battle. I killed Gabriel Agreste seven times. But nobody but me and Luca will ever remember.”

Damian and Marinette both knew it wasn’t the same as Damian’s childhood. They both knew that they would likely never fully understand one another’s trauma. Not the nuances of it. But they did understand the important parts, the broad strokes. Despite their vastly different lives, they understood the big parts that shaped one another.

That was why Damian took to her so quickly. If he had been younger and still bratty, naive, and angry at everything, then it would be a different story entirely. But he was matured, more willing to let himself feel sympathy. And that made the difference.

“You never forget the first person,” he remarked.

“No matter the age or timeline,” she agreed. “I saw how hard it was to stop. How sickeningly addictive it can be, but I hate what it makes me more than I like how it feels.”

“... me too,” Damian whispered. “Me too.”

“Wooo!” Marinette cheered as she flew through the air, her hands latching onto Dick’s. There was no audience, but there didn’t need to be. Just the two of them, doing a routine that they’ve been working on during the few chances they had for the past several weeks. Marinette had never done trapeze before Dick helped her learn, but her time swinging through Paris streets helped tremendously alongside her general Gymnastics experience.

Marinette and Dick flipped through the air, swinging from bar to bar, Dick occasionally catching and tossing her again. They soared through the air, both curling through two flips before landing on their respective platforms with matching wide smiles. Marinette, chest heaving a bit since she was slightly out of shape (meaning that she wasn’t at all out of shape, only out of practice when it came to swinging through the air for any length of time. There’s a difference). She met Dick on the floor, who proceeded to ruffle her hair happily.

“That was awesome! Looks like you finally got the routine down,” he praised. She laughed, elbowing him.

“I bet I’m better on the balance beam,” she challenged, making Dick grin widely.

“Oh you are on!”

“Ya ever died before?” Jason asked, making Marinette chuckle.

“Two-hundred and eighty-seven times.”

“You started as Ladybug at thirteen, right?”

“Yup. No training or mentor for the first year either.”

“Yeah, then that sounds about right. Wanna go break all the traffic laws?”

“Only if we take your bike.”

“Fuckin’ Duh. What else?”

“You stalked Adrien?” Tim asked, smirking that insufferable smirk of his. Marinette groaned, flopping back onto the sofa.

“No! I didn’t mean it that way, anyway. I just took a lot of pictures and spied on him.”

“Yup. You’re Bruce’s kid,” he remarked, tapping away at his laptop. Marinette narrowed her eyes.

“You have noooo place to judge, Mister ‘Dick Grayson is the only person alive who can do four somersaults in the air!’ And ‘Yes, I‘ve known that you are batman since I was eight. Look at all these pictures I took when I— what was your terminology again?”

Tim rolled his eyes, but a grin was peeking through. “Yeah, yeah.”

Four months later, and Marinette was staring down at all the garment bags she had painstakingly filled. Outfits for every single one of her new family members. It took a while, but they were ready for the Wayne Gala. Adrien slung am arm over her shoulder.

“You’ve outdone yourself again, Princess,” he praised, grinning at the array of coveted outfits they were about to transport. “But one teensy weeny, tiny little thing.”

“What is it, Chaton?”

Adrien grinned. “Do you have a dress for yourself? Bruce invited you, too, didn’t he?”

Marinette’s face drained of color, right as a knock sounded on the door. Adrien, seeing as Marinette was so far into Panic Mode that she could not be reached at the moment, went to open the door. A second later, plastic was all Marinette could see. Blinking, she raised her head.

It was Cass, holding out a pink garment bag with Marinette’s name on it.

“Thought you would forget,” was all the other woman offered as explanation. Marinette, after gaping for a moment, slowly took the bag from her. Cass smirked. “Present from WE.”

Marinette laughed.

“You guys are the best.”

✨My (maybe) Unpopular Heroes of Olympus Opinions✨

(maybe part one??? idk)

-I don’t really ship any of the main canon ships in HoO. None of them had any chemistry and most of them are either pedophilic, forced and rushed, or toxic in some way

-Most of the characters that were shoved into relationships (Leo, Nico, and Hazel especially) really did not need a love interest to complete their character arcs and their relationships ended up boring and flat cause Riordan just wanted everyone to have a love interest and it never went deeper than the skin

-Piper took advantage over Jason’s amnesiac state and manipulated him. She really went ‘But what if he has a girlfriend he can’t remember 👉👈 it would be wrong to start a relationship with him while he still has amnesia 👉👈 and cause it was based off lies and fake memories 👉👈 lmao imma just jump all over him and make him fall for me while he’s still amnesiac 🤪’ as if that’s not taking advantage over someone’s mental state

-And then she blamed her relationship being forced on Aphrodite and Hera saying they ‘forced her into a relationship’ and ‘arranged their relationship’ even though Aphrodite never said anything about or did anything to them and Hera gave Piper fake memories of them being a couple but it was Piper’s conscious choice to act out on those memories she knew were fake and her relationship was in no way influenced by anyone (especially Hera and Aphrodite) other than herself

-Shelper and Solangelo were way too rushed and forced (inside and outside of the books) and were only added for publicity, plus it seems like most of the fandom only like them cause they’re LGBTQ+ ships

-I hate Pipeyna and Pipabeth. My girls (especially Reyna) deserve better than some manipulative little girl who went ‘we were friends? no weren’t ❤️’

-The fandom portrays the characters really inaccurately (tweaking them a bit for humor is fine, but changing their entire personality is a different thing)

-The movies actually aren’t that bad when not compared to the books (I mean, you gotta admit- it’s pretty good effects for 2010)

-And speaking of the movies, they did a better job at portraying Thalia and Annabeth’s relationship in one movie than Riordan did in 5+ books

-Speaking of which, Riordan wrote pretty much every platonic friendship that weren’t Thalia/Nico and Reyna horribly and most of them shouldn’t have been friends and wasted all the potential for the good friendships

-Calypso should’ve joined the Hunters, not Reyna

-Annabeth and Piper are horrible friends lmao (separately and together)

-Silena is a hero and deserves redemption, but Luke doesn’t despite most of the fandom agreeing he does (he was a pedophile y’all)

-The fandom over-exaggerated the Tartarus fall, it wasn’t really that bad tbh

-Reyna is stronger and a better leader than Annabeth

-Annabeth’s intelligence is more tell than show (and quite a few characters including Leo, Reyna, and Octavian have shown more intelligence than her)

-Riordan over-glorifies and overpowers Percy way too much. Just cause he’s the main character doesn’t mean he has to be the best of the best after barely 8 months of training (four years at CHB only in the summers is 8 months total)

-Speaking of which, Jason can beat Percy (8 months versus Jason’s twelve years) and so can Annabeth, Reyna, Thalia, Hylla, Luke, Hazel and maybe Frank and Nico. Percy’s skill is overrated and unrealistic

-And I feel like most of the fandom knows that Jason can beat Percy but just doesn’t want to admit it cause they like Percy more

-Same thing with the Greeks and Romans- the majority know the Romans are stronger and can easily beat the Greeks but they don’t want to believe it cause they favor the Greeks more

-Percy and Annabeth shouldn’t have been part of the Seven, they already had their chance to shine. Riordan should’ve brought minor characters into light instead

-And Piper shouldn’t have been part of the Seven either. Riordan really expects me to believe that she’s stronger, more powerful, and a greater/better hero and deserved to be part of the Seven more than Reyna, Nico, Clarisse, Thalia, etc.?

-Riordan’s women line-up of Reyna, Annabeth, Hazel, and Piper was really cheap and boring (Avengers: Endgame women line-up who?)

-Percy (in HoO) and Piper are easily some of the worst, most underdeveloped characters Riordan has ever written

-Annabeth got really bland and weak in HoO and couldn’t do shit for herself without others (especially newbies) having to help and/or save her. She pretty much became exclusively Percy fangirl

-As much as I like them, Frank and Hazel don’t have what it takes to be Praetors and Reyna and Jason should’ve stayed as them

-Jason’s whole ‘am I more Greek or Roman’ arc was dumb af

-Riordan’s bias towards the Romans is also dumb af (the Romans could beat the Greeks in an instant)

-Jeyna is and always will be 1000x better than Jiper

-Hazel is the most powerful demigod (way more than Percy and even Jason)

-My hot take on who should’ve been the Seven: Reyna, Nico, Thalia, Frank, Hazel, Leo, and Clovis (son of the god of sleep puts Gaea back to sleep who?)

-Riordan confirming Piper bi was a cheap move to make her more likable. It didn’t even make any sense. A character is confirmed LGBT only after they become a minor character despite being a main character before and kisses some random unnamed girl only three months after her ex-boyfriend whom she still loved dies??? girl what??? Kinda obvious it was just for publicity. Like- Riordan, honey, the LGBTQ+ community is not a circus you can plop your characters into to make them more entertaining❤️

-The PJ series as a whole isn’t that creative. It’s legit just a copy of exactly what past mythological figures have already done and a bunch of character tropes and clichés shoved into one book

-And in general it’s not even that well-written (like HP, it’s over-exaggerated a lot)

-All of the romantic relationships and platonic friendships are extremely unrealistic. Like they never argue/fight, disagree, etc. (then grow stronger from those fights) at all??? Even if they’re complete opposites???

-Reyna is the best-written character in the whole series and a queen she deserved better and y’all sit on her too much

-Theyna is ✨amazing✨ their dynamic and chemistry was just *mwah Pansexual Muslim blessings to you* and people are allowed to ship them even though they’re Hunters and swore off love

-Rachel doesn’t deserve all the hate she gets. Y’all hate on her cause she crushed on Percy when half of you are doing the same thing and then y’all go and ship Percy with Nico, Jason, Artemis, Athena, etc. 

-If y’all want to hate on Jason for ‘not having a personality’ you’d also have to hate on most of the main HoO characters except Reyna, Nico, and Leo (and maybe Hazel) for the same reason cause they have the exact same problem tbh

-Zoë and Bianca’s deaths weren’t actually that sad. We didn’t get to see them enough nor did they have enough development for their deaths to have a real impact. The only sad thing about them was Zoë’s last words and Nico’s reaction

-Thalia needed more time in the books

-Reyna was the only main female character in HoO that wasn’t a boring, bland Mary Sue that all the other characters automatically loved. She was the only one with real flaws and distinct personality traits she’s my queen

-Piper, Annabeth, and Calypso did have flaws but the fact that they weren’t called out by other characters or even noticed are what makes them Mary Sues. It doesn’t matter how many flaws a character has, if they’re not called out by other characters (more specifically, other protagonists who actually like them) they don’t count as real character flaws

-Riordan can’t write female characters for shit

-Clarisse, Drew, and Octavian deserved better than being completely antagonized for no explained reason other than to make the protagonists seem better and to make the readers root for them. Those three had more potential than most of the Seven combined

-The whole ‘Aphrodite kids don’t train’ thing is bs. It’s specifically stated that all the demigods follow a strict schedule and have to follow it or they’ll be on stable duty or smth and the Aphrodite kids shouldn’t (and can’t) be excused from that

-Therefore, Drew should be way more powerful and skilled than Piper, at least enough to not back down automatically from a duel by a newbie who hasn’t even learned how to fight (Drew can control an entire cabin of people at once and Piper can barely control one person at a time, who’s more powerful again??)

-Also I have no idea why Riordan portrays all the Aphrodite kids as weak and girly in the first place. ‘Femininity’ and ‘weakness’ are not synonymous and ‘love’ and ‘beauty’ don’t equal ‘feminine’

-Speaking of which, love is actually really powerful but Piper doesn’t stand for love or ‘inner beauty’ and all her ‘thoughtful/insightful’ quotes in ToA/TBM about love were complete bs

-Riordan using the LGBTQ+ community for the sole purpose of making Piper seem more likable and ‘special’ was disgusting and proves he thinks that straight is the default- “...Or Hera’s ideas of what a perfect couple looked like. Piper finding her own way, not the one people expected of her” my ass. In other words, he’s saying ‘The expectations for love and the idea of a perfect couple are a heterosexual relationship, and anyone who 'finds their own way instead of the ones people expect’ are different’. ‘Different’ and ‘default’ are antonyms, so if you think LGBT people are different, then you think that straight is the default. Aphrodite is the goddess of love not heteronormative bullshit. Like Riordan, honey, you’re the one who thinks that the expectations for love and the idea of a perfect couple are heterosexual couples, not fictional gods from a fictional mythology. Remember kiddos- an author writes their own beliefs

Screaming that Jason the beloved quarterback and boyfriend of essentially 2022 laura palmer led the town to mass psychosis of paranoia becoming an angry mob and nothing happened. A few people had to wait in the car while the others went in the store, that’s it. Jason and his friends weren’t that difficult to deal with and the town never had to confront they were outsourcing their anxieties onto an outsider. The funny thing about it being it’s very much a stephen king thing to have a monstrous evil paired with a human evil that’s just as threatening, and that’s what season 2 did with billy, well I might add, and this time they’ve amped the scale of it from the abuse being not just to max/her friends but a wide range of teenagers who are lost and confused and depressed and the community didn’t have to look inward and reflect on how they were responsible for creating those conditions and for blaming an innocent eddie, and this theme might come around later but the biggest issue is they don’t have to deal with consequences for it: like if a mob had actually spotted him, reported him and sent people after him, chased him, killed him instead of sacrificing himself to distract some bats for no reason, it would thematically connect the two in the way THE STORY SET UP. Monster evil and human evil, appearances are deceiving, man is the real monster, there is Vecna after all, cops are so incompetent they might as well have aided and abetted. Pretty fundamental supernatural and horror themes.

And since they took inspiration from twin peaks for chrissy, that show did that story to its logical end: that she was being abused both by her father and the supernatural entity that took to him, for years, and nobody did anything because no one wanted to say anything, they were all complicit in her death, episode 3, her football boyfriend says it explicitly, and the same thing happens again to her cousin. I’m not expecting anyone inspired by this to rival all their inspirations but I expect them to try if they bother putting it in something. ST has never been complex about weaving in social themes, but they used to do it implicitly well that still made for good entertainment. And then when the gates finally opened, Hawkins would’ve been forced to confront that maybe THEY were responsible for opening the gates to hell. What is anyone supposed to learn if eddie supposedly died in the earthquake? If Jason did too and isn’t heralded as a hero? What if Jason did it or claimed credit and was later (this season, or the next) revealed to have killed an innocent man? What if the parents blamed their kids and there was a conflict there? Why didn’t the COMMUNITY blame them and shun them at the end? Why was THAT set up if nothing was gonna happen in volume 2? ST just feels so afraid of consequences and naming social themes even when they talk constantly about outsiders and geeks and satanic panic, letting gay characters call themselves gay, killing off major characters so they introduce someone new instead (even kind of replicating steve’s relationship with dustin onto eddie; he was supposed to die in s1, why not here?). There are absolutely literal and emotional consequences this season but they mostly feel isolated from each other in their own closed loop systems, stories recycling previous stories, themes missing point B or even A before jumping to C, totally allergic to actually breaking skin and touching on that real human darkness they keep avoiding.

Amira looked at the white board inside her walk-in closet, reviewing the new information she got last night. During last night’s patrol, Amira took a break halfway through, using the time to ask Tikki more questions regarding the miraculous. 

They were earrings, which thankfully, can shift in design but can’t change its original form: earrings. 

So here was Amira, sporting all black studs. Simple and hidden in plain sight. Amira also found out that the appearance of the earrings can always be changed as Tikki doesn’t have to use too much energy to do so. Therefore, Amira has been planning on changing its appearance after every akuma attack, an easy tactic to see exactly how much Hawkmoth himself knows about the Ladybug miraculous.

Next up, her yo-yo. Turns out that it’s more than just that. While it works as a tracker and phone, it only works when Amira is transformed. No yo-yo, no way to communicate with Chat. Because of this, Amira decided to get him a burner phone to make sure the two can communicate outside the suit. Will also help in case they have to communicate during an energy break while there is an akuma. 

Her costume. Thankfully, Tikki had told her that it morphs into whichever design the holder has in their head. With more concentration on the design, the more the costume will have what the holder would want. After patrol, Amira made it her mission to get the utility belt in her design and after plenty of trial and errors, Amira got it. 

Now she had smoke pellets, a taser, a small utility knife and a first aid kit at her disposal. Of course, the belt came with a price - her dagger.

Brushing out her hair, Amira looked at her reflection. She always hated having long hair. While Dick always told her that he liked her hair when it was long (because he liked braiding it for her), Amira never took a shine to having long hair. 

It was a hassle to brush out, to clean. During track (even though she was only on the team for two years), Amira hated seeing other girls have their lucky amulets in their hair. A special pin or hair tie from their fathers and sometimes from their-

“-to Marinette!” Tikki yelled, snapping Amira from her trip down memory hell.

“Tikki, I live across the school. I won’t be late.” Marinette stated, continuing to stare at her reflection.

“I know that, but your phone has been buzzing nonstop!” Tikki said, showing her the multiple texts she was receiving.

Marinette took it, smiling when she saw they were from Wally and Dick, telling her to have a better day at school than yesterday’s disaster. “Are they from your friends?”

“You can say that.” Marinette said, tucking her phone into her pocket, looking at her reflection once again. “Tikki. Can you grab my fabric scissors on the table near my monitors?”

“It suits you.” Alya randomly told Marinette after the end of their first class. “Your hair, I mean. Don’t think I didn’t notice it.” Marinette simply blinked, wondering why people always said a compliment before bringing up their actual motives. “Name’s Alya-”

“-Cesaire. I know. Now if you excuse me, I have a class to get to.” Marinette filled in, getting up to leave, only for Alya to grab her wrist. “Let go.”

“Sorry!” Alya apologized, letting go of Marinette. “I just...I just wanted to tell you that you were a bit too harsh on Mlle Bustier yesterday. You should apologize.” Alya didn’t expect a scoff from Marinette.

“I’m not going to apologize for standing up for what I know is right.”

“Mlle Bustier-”

“-should’ve done her job correctly instead of enabling, especially now that Hawkmoth is a threat. But even with Hawkmoth out of the picture, Ms.Bustier shouldn’t have just assumed it was Ivan who instigated the argument. There’s always two sides of a story and we should always make it our job to figure out who is right. Sometimes, we even figure out why things happened the way they did. Sometimes, we find out we are wrong and when that happens, we have to accept it. If not, how else will we grow?”

With those words, Marinette gave Alya a little bow before going to her next class. Hopefully Marinette can find M. D'Argencourt during her break to try and convince him to let her join the fencing club...again.

“Well, that went easier than I thought.” Marinette told herself, walking down the school steps. M. D'Argencour had happily accepted her into the team, proceeding to tell her the team’s schedule.

While it took a while to hunt the coach down, Marinette was about to find him towards the end of the day.

“Why exactly do you want to know fencing?” Tikki asked her from the pocket inside her sweater.

“I just found it...interesting.” Marinette lied, knowing she couldn’t tell Tikki that her father never let her take up the hobby. While Bruce had allowed Jason to learn how to use a sword, Jason quickly dropped it. Dick was also taught how to use a sword, but he complained how annoying it would be to carry it around, hence the reason why he carries escrima sticks.

While fencing wasn’t the same, fencing will help her gain more skills she can use during her fights. You never know after all.

After greeting Tom and Sabine and squishing Bridgette’s cheeks, Marinette made her way to her room, only to find him in there...again.

“If it’s about the Miraculous, I’m still not giving it to you.” Amira said, throwing her school bag to the floor. She whispered the renouncing spell before reaching into her jewelry box, where countless dupes rested. Oh how she wanted to cackle when she saw her father look at her with wide eyes. 

“Amira, hand them over.” Bruce ordered, stretching out his hand in hopes of Amira doing the correct thing.

“Why won’t you trust me?” Amira gritted, balling her fists. “Why don’t you trust me to do the right thing?”

“I do trust you.” Bruce said, taking a step forward. “That’s why I expect you-”

“I can’t just hand earrings over! The people need me! They need Ladybird to-”

“You don’t need to be running around Paris playing hero, Amira. Let Diana-”

“Must I remind you that I was given the earrings? It’s me who they want! Me! And no! I’m not playing hero! Hell, I’m not even a hero! I’m a vigilante! I’m doing what’s right by being Ladybird, by protecting the people the only way I can.” Amira reasoned, looking at her father. “And trust? Doesn’t that go both ways?” Amira set out a sigh she didn’t know she was holding in. “After all, when were you going to tell me about Batgirl? About...the new Robin?”

How Amira wanted to scream when Bruce remained silent. 

“How did you find out?” Amira scoffed.

“Find out? The whole internet was talking about it! My class was talking about just earlier today!”

It happened during break. Just as Marinette was leaving the class, she bumped into the second surprise of the day in the form of teen model Adrien Agreste. 

Adrien apologized for the accident when Chloe pulled him into the class and began to ‘teach’ him what it meant to be part of a school. The only reason Marinette even remained in class at that point was because she heard Adrien talk about this being his first time in a school...meaning that up until now, he had been homeschooled all his life.

Kinda how like she was up until she was around seven to eight years old. But to be homeschooled until 13? How lonely he must have been. Especially when she heard he was the only child at home.

You’re really ungrateful.

Marinette stiffened, feeling her heart pick up in pace upon remembering Jason’s words. She already knew that...she knew, but was it wrong of her to want something else? To want to have something different than what she currently had?

As Marinette was fighting off the beginnings of a breakdown, Alya’s sudden burst almost triggered it.

“Since when did Robin come back to Gotham?!” Alya yelled, rising from her seat. 

Marinette didn’t need to hear any more, running out of the classroom and locking herself into one of the girl’s bathroom stalls. While she hated having breakdowns, Amira was glad to have had one, as it helped her gained more insight on how Hawkmoth’s powers worked.

He can’t control you if you’re in the middle of an emotional breakdown and can’t register his words. In other words, he can’t control you if you’re already out of control. 

Guess it’s good to know that if Joker were to ever come to Paris, Hawkmoth wouldn’t be able to take over him. 

Amira looked at her father, awaiting for his response. “Under different circumstances, I would have forgiven you for replacing Jason with another guy. But it hasn’t been a year since he died and you’ve already replaced him. 

You know how Jason felt, you know he lived with the fear of doing a single thing that would give you a reason to kick him out of the manor. And while you always assured him you would never do that, here you are, doing just that.” Amira watched as her vision went blurry, wiping them away as she collected herself again. 

“I wasn’t replacing-“

“You were. You are. And not only have you replaced Jason, but it seems you’ve also replaced me.” Amira looked at herself. “Batgirl? Really? You know that was the name I wanted to use if you ever let me fight crime alongside you. Of course, that never happened.”

“Amira.”

“At this point, I don’t care what you do.” Amira gripped all the turmoil inside her. “Right now. I just want you to leave.”

“Amira.”

“Leave! I don’t want to see your face Bruce!” Amira yelled, shocking herself at her outburst. 

Bruce? Why did it feel so wrong, yet so right? She tried it again. “I don’t want you anywhere near me Bruce, so leave! Just leave!”

And he did.

As she watched Bruce leave her room with a heavy heart, she slumped to the floor, standing back up when she felt something approach her. “Tikki!” Tikki appeared before her. “Spots on!” A second later, an akuma appeared before her, Amira quickly capturing it. Before letting it go, Amira quickly searched for a glass jar and a box in her desk.

She let the now purified butterfly go into the jar, surprised to see that it didn’t phase through the jar. So it was just a normal butterfly after all. When coated in magic, the magic allowed it to phase through whatever it wanted to to ensure that it made it to its target.

Calling off her transformation, Amira quickly got to work, carefully placing a tracker on the butterfly’s wing. 

“Are you alright, Marinette?” Tikki asked, looking at her holder with worried eyes.

“I’m alright Tikki. I’m alright.”

No, she wasn’t alright.

The next day at school, Chloe tried to stick gum in her seat as a revenge plan for once again chewing out Mlle Bustier for allowing Chloe to interrupt the classroom with another one of her stupid excuses. Not to mention Chloe using her father’s position to get away with said excuse.

It didn’t help when Marinette was stuck with Alya trying to ask her about her past in Gotham and Alya claiming to be her friend.

They barely knew each other and this girl was already clinging to her like a newborn chick. 

While Marinette tried to avoid her at all costs, Alya always found her, Marinette hating it. Didn’t she know about personal space?

Her week got worse when Chat accepted the burner phone but refused to be trained by her. Something about him not needing it.

Thankfully, she was able to vent to Dick and Wally, although more to Wally since Dick was busy with university. 

Days went by and even then, Amira knew she was never going to adjust to life in Paris.

It’s only been four akumas and this city already thinks they saved the world. 

While technically they saved Paris, Ladybird and Chat have yet to fight off a Victim that can become a potential threat to the world. Bubbler and Mr.Pigeon weren’t exactly the worst to deal with, but they weren’t the easiest to take down either. As for Stormy Weather and Lady Wifi, Ladybird realized that it was Victims like them who posed a threat to France. Victims with intangible powers were a force to be reckoned with after all. 

But just because the duo saved Paris four times, it didn’t mean their work was done. They had yet to find out who Hawkmoth was.

Oh, did she mention the ridiculous statue they made in her and Chat’s honor because of the four Victims they took down so far? Long story short, she didn’t go to the ceremony and Chat must’ve told the artist something stupid because here they were. Fighting a Victim all thanks to Chat and his loud mouth.

“Chat! Stop trying to regain your honor and let me-” Ladybird yelled, only to get pushed back by his bo.

“No! This is my fight!” Chat hissed, attempting to land a hit on his copycat. Copycat grinned as he parried all of Chat’s hits, flinging Chat’s bo to the side when he saw an opening. 

“He’s good.” Chat said, landing next to Ladybug as he retreated. Ladybird scoffed, gaining an arched brow from her partner.

“He’s good? Got some pretty low standards there Chat. Have you ever seen Nightwing in combat? This guy is nothing compared to him.” With that, Ladybird charged into the fight, picking up Chat’s bo and using it against Copycat.

The two fought, Ladybird noticing Copycat starting to hit her with less force, more sloppily. He was starting to become more aggressive, half of his hits missing. 

“Chat! Switch!” Ladybird yelled, knocking Copycat’s staff from his hands and throwing Chat his own back to him.

With Chat distracting Copycat, Ladybird waited for the perfect- there!

Chat had launched Copycat into the air, Ladybird using this to wrap him with her yo-yo and slamming him down. Holding him down, Ladybird turned to Chat.

“Where’s his akuma?”

“Here!” Chat said, taking out a photo from Copycat’s pocket. Ripping it, it released the akuma, Ladybird unwrapping her yo-yo and capturing the akuma. Now purified and having the tracker implanted, Ladybird released the butterfly. 

“Miraculous Ladybug!” Ladybird watched as everything was returned and fixed. Turning to Chat, she glared at him. “I’ll be done here in a few minutes. Meet you at the rendezvous in a few.”

HEY SORRY ITS BEEN A FEW MONTHS HAVE A SHORT BBATTOWLB SNIPPET.

Billy's identity has been revealed and he's dealing with the not quite immediate fallout.

(Spoilers for post BBATTOWLB main story line.)

The first time Marvel tried to leave Fawcett City, J'onn was there to stop him.

"I cannot allow you to pass city limits, Captain." He said, and moved to push Marvel back every time.

The second time Marvel tried to leave, Green Lantern was there.

Just lounging about in a hammock from his ring, looking at his phone like he was enjoying a relaxing day out.

"Sorry, bud," he said, only glancing up with a shrug. "You know the rules."

.

The third time Marvel was actually able to leave, because there was nobody around to stop him. Because they were all out at Metropolis fighting an army that didn't really exist because, well. Illusion magic.

Marvel really felt they could use a hand from the Champion of Magic himself.

Apparently, the others did not feel the same.

From the moment he showed up, those that noticed told him to stay aside, that they could handle it, that he could get hurt, that he should leave it to them.

"This isn't your fight, kiddo."

"Go back home, champ."

"Watch your back, kid."

Yeah. Well. This kid just saved their collective magic inept butts, so...

Superman did not see it that way. The second the fight was over, he was right there, back straight and shoulders broad and brows furrowed.

"That was reckless, Billy. You were not called in to join the fight, and if you had misstepped in the slightest someone could have seriously been hurt."

But he didn't misstep. This was a magic fight and hello, did they forget what he's good at? They could suspend him all they want, they couldn't keep him away from where he needed to be, they couldn't freaking ground him.

Something hot and uncomfortable unfurled in his chest. He felt his fists curl at his side, involuntary sparks of electricity snapped around them. On the inside, Billy felt like screaming. On the outside, Marvel felt his jaw clench.

"I understand that, but--"

"Do you?" Superman interrupted. He didn't believe him. "Do you really understand how much damage was done? How much more could have been done? This is why you're on suspension, Billy. You can't just go around getting into every fight--"

"Marvel."

"What?"

"My name is Marvel," he ground out with surprising calm. "And every fight that needs me is my fight, Superman."

Superman crossed his arms and stared him down, like Marvel wasn't as tall as him, as broad and muscled and powerful as he was. Like Marvel hadn't just saved their asses.

Marvel kept his chin up and eyes forward. He would not back down. Not even from his hero.

"Go home, Captain."

With the threat neutralized, the team watching, and civilians and news reporters starting to venture back out, Captain Marvel knew there was nothing else left for him there.

A bolt of lightning struck him.

Rather dramatic, as exits went. But like hell he was going home, where he was sure another Leaguer would come patrol, where he was being commanded to stay - so the Rock of Eternity it was.

He didn't try to leave Fawcett City for awhile after that. (At least, not in any way that they would notice).

.

There were no missions, no patrols, no monitor duties, no cafeteria hang outs or briefings or alerts. His communicator was forfeited, his access to the Watchtower denied, his place on the Justice League all but officially revoked.

However, with how often one of the other heroes showed up to assist him with his own city's emergencies, Marvel felt like he was seeing the League a lot more than he had before his suspension.

Since they couldn't really stop him, they interfered as much as possible.

The Flash would stop by and want to grab food, always ready to take Billy somewhere to eat, and sometimes he’d drag Hal with to mess around at an arcade, and well, would you look at that, there's a bank robbery taking place, lemme get that for you.

Green Arrow and Black Canary came to town during the week, asking him about his home life and family and schooling and what he wanted to do, as if there was anything besides being Captain Marvel, and they tried very hard to be very nice and very friendly and very nosy.

Kori frequently came blazing by. She would greet him with a hug and be excited to see him. Like she actually wanted to. Every time, she would excuse the lack of Roy and Jason, stating that they wanted to give him space. She would ask him if her presence was a burden, was unwanted. And every time Billy would say no and hold her hand just a bit tighter. There were never questions about his memory loss, about what he came to remember, as if she understood the precipice he was balancing on and only wanted to remind him she was there. Billy appreciated that a lot.

Even Doctor Fate showed up. Suddenly next to him in the middle of the night as he glided through the sky. Not saying much of anything, though Marvel could feel his stare, feel his assessment. There were questions he wanted to ask, answers he wanted known, but still he didn't push. He just floated alongside Marvel until he vanished again. It was creepy, but it could've been worse.

Very rarely, in the corner of his eye, he would spot Batman or Nightwing, just on the edge of a building's shadow. A few times during the day, Billy caught sight of Bruce or one of the other batfamily. They would be strolling through the streets like it was a normal occurrence for them to be in Fawcett, and every time, Billy ran the other way. The thought of meeting them like this, as himself, as street rat Billy Batson made his heart race and head dizzy. He couldn't do it. Not now, not yet.

Captain Marvel could hardly go on patrol without another hero showing up at some point, all of them seemingly taking shifts to watch him, to baby sit him in his own city. Like he couldn't be trusted any more. Like he couldn't be the hero he had been this whole time.

Billy couldn't sleep at night. Couldn't lie on his bare mattress in his apartment without jumping at the slightest of sounds. As if the others would barge in and take him as he slept. The wards that were put up awhile ago did not help soothe this fear. Tawny's reassurances that they would not let anyone take him only comforted him in so much that he did not want his Familiar harmed, either. Not for him, not because of him.

He spent a lot of time sleeping at the Rock, where at least he felt safe.

Superman never stopped by. Aside from that first confrontation in Metropolis, Marvel hadn't seen him. No lectures, no orders, no commands, not even static silence. Nothing. Word from Hal was he had originally wanted to actually ground Billy. Keep him at the Watchtower where he could be easily monitored and cared for. But the idea was shot down and he'd been a little miffed about it. Still, that didn't stop the spike of paranoia Billy felt upon learning it.

Diana never contacted him, either, surprisingly. And that hurt more than he thought it would. Marvel remembered the look of sadness on her face, the hidden anger in her voice, and the passion she gave as she tried to defend him, as he stood before the League and confessed to his deceit, to his lying. She looked like he betrayed her. Even if she showed up, Billy had no idea what he could possibly say to apologize, to make it better.

Victor's position in the League was on the line, too, and Billy hadn't heard any more from him except that he'd be out of touch for a bit while he was essentially grounded. For him, that meant staying at his Detroit home with supervision whilst on duty at the Watchtower. The curdling feeling of guilt that he had brought this onto his friend sent Billy into such distress he didn't leave the Rock for the whole day.

Constantine thought the whole thing was bollocks. Said they had no right to control him, to stop him. He also said a few curses about them and the Wizard, but Billy let it slide. It felt nice to have someone truly in his corner. When John offered to whisk him on a vacation for awhile, see the other side of the pond, Billy regretfully declined. He felt like that was running away from his problems and he hated that notion most of all. Still, he thanked John for talking to him, even if it was just through the mirror. It helped elevate the ache in his chest.

Billy hadn't felt this way - this distant, disconnected, and closed off way - in a very long time.

Dick was having a good night on patrol, it was a quiet night, maybe with two or three simple thieves that he handed over to the police without much fuss.

His mother was visiting that week, having found an important clue to the terrorist Hawkmoth's reasoning, she stayed at the mansion while the bats computer accelerate the investigation. The protective spells his mother always put on him were doing their thing under the keblar suit and all the latest generation armor.

With his father it was the same, awkward demonstrations of love and many fun workouts. The highlight of his life recently was when Bruce told him that he was proud of him.

It had been a few weeks ago, Mari was out of town, so Nightwing and Batman had gone on patrol together. Bruce always stayed on the roofs of buildings, running and using the hook simply for the widest jumps. But Dick liked to swing, pirouette on the air and land theatrically, a part of the circus boy would never come out of him.

Batman could see that, and he simply allowed him to do his tricks while probing the streets.

After stopping a gunfight in the middle of the street, batman and nightwing were back in the cave. With dick chattering about his possible occupation as a cop when he grew up. In the middle of talking about how much he wanted to help civilians inside and outside the suit, his father interrupted him with:

 “i'm proud of you son”

To simply ruffle his hair and continue the routine after the patrol. Dick froze in the middle of the batcave garage until Alfred asked him if everything was okay.

That night, by video call Marinette saw her son with the biggest smile of all, while talking to her about his plan to become a police officer. He hadn't even taken off his suit when the call ended a few hours later.

When nightwing entered the batcave thinking about the family's plans for the night, he certainly didn't expect to see a dirty and beaten 9-year-old boy next to his parents.

He seemed to be nervous, scared, and angry, looking at batman and ladybird as if they were going to bite him. As soon as he fully examine him, nightwing got excited

“Do you guys got me a baby brother?!”

Everyone in the cave got nervous. Batman put a hand between the boy and his son, fearing that Nightwing would get too close to Jason, or Jason would try to hit him.

Ladybird tried not to show too excited at the prospect of her beloved Nightwing with a little brother.

And Jason was just trying not to collapse on the ground, definitely stealing the Batmobile's tires was not a very good idea, now he would die in the hands of the vigilantes, what a way to die for an orphan.

“Nightwing sweetheart, we are going to talk to Jason here. Please wait up stairs.”

Nightwing didn't argue, he could spy on them perfectly on his trapezium in the hidden room. The echo in the Batcave was impressive.

He began to think what kinds of activities they could do if they started being siblings. Would they allow him to be vigilant? Would he go to school with him? 

Was it a requirement to be a black-haired boy with blue eyes to be adopted? Why did Mari and Bruce want to keep those traits on the line?

Nightwing was so focused on his thoughts that he didn't really hear anything they were saying until his father entered the room.

"Nightwing come down for a moment, we need to talk. Nothing serious, I just want to know what you think about it." Batman spoke. Nightwing only took a few somersaults to hit the ground.

Batman took a few seconds in silence to admire his son's abilities. Although Mari also did gymnastics and stunts, he was still disturbed and impressed by the movements of Ladybird and Nightwing.

"So ... Jason ... He ..." Batman couldn't find a proper way to start.

"Will you guys do it my little brother? Can we play on the trapezoids together? Will we go to school together? Say yes, pleaaaaaaaase.“ Nightwing grabbed his cape by the shoulders, in a futile attempt to shake him. Just managing to hang up on Batman… he still wasn't very tall to say.

Batman visibly deflated, relieved that his son took the idea of having a brother well. Of course he didn't expect any backlash, they were talking about Nightwing / Richard, a teenager who was all charisma, smiles, and justice.

Batman carefully dropped the vigilante. "So if so, we should go with Mari and Jason. Remember that he is new to this situation, it is understandable that he is nervous, if he wants to tell you where he comes from it will be his decision.”

"I'm not ten years old anymore batsy, I can manage to meet my little brother without problems."

"We'll see"

Ladybird put a hand gently on his shoulder.

"You can reconcide your answer if you're not sure Jason. We don't want to pressure you into anything, we just want you to be better"

Jason hugged his legs sitting in the main computer chair. "As long as I have food and a roof everything is fine, ladybird" His eyes were opaque, tired of life on the streets for a child.

Ladybird felt her chest clench a little more. "Jason, honey. We want you to join our family. Not only are you an act of charity, you may not feel comfortable with many things, but we want you to be well above all things.

Jason relaxed, but not quite. Ladybird knew it would take time. He was not like Dick, who upon arrival needed hugs and conversations about his nightmares.

Jason was a little more battered by life, neglect and general evil in Gotham, but he was still a child who needed guidance and love.

She was sure he and Dick would connect very well.

*Seven days after Jason´s arrival*

Jason was still insecure around adults, but he instantly became attached to Dick, much to his delight.

Despite his trademark smile, and the constant comforting touches that Jason was not used to. It was great to have an older brother, and a house, food, and real parents ...

He was fortunate that it was winter break, so Dick spent the whole day showing him around the mansion, and telling him anecdotes about his life at the mansion and before the Dupain-Cheng Wayne adopted him.

As for Bruce and Marinette, they were patiently waiting for Jason to get used to it.

They had both agreed that raising another child was going to be difficult. But they already had some experience, Bruce was in his best mental and emotional space, and Marinette had better control of the terrorist situation in Paris along with more experience in motherhood.

The rules about becoming a vigilante or hero were in place.

Bruce worked on his communication, and Marinette lessened her maternal paranoia.

*Two months after Jason´s arrival*

As soon as Jason settled in with Bruce and Mari, Dick had the brilliant idea to take another family photo, after all they now had a new member.

Jason began to express himself smoothly, showing a special interest in weapons and books.

Perhaps in another family things would have become complicated with his interests. But Bruce was a spoiling father with Marinette backing him up.

So the library of the mansion was very well dusted, three more shelves with different books were added. The Batcave's armory expanded, and Mari quickly put her protection spells on Jason, as soon as he began practicing under their supervision.

During free afternoons, Jason would be in Bruce's office, reading by his side while Bruce worked on the paperwork.

Other days he would be with Dick playing video games or sharing a mystery series in the projection room or in his own rooms.

And he would also meet Mari in the gardens, lying in a hammock while Mari sang for him and worked on his sketches. Or in the second kitchen, with Dick and him waiting to try the desserts she made first.

As family activities there will always be meals, movie nights, outings, and training.

Jason had already decided that he also wanted to be on the vigilante job. Motivated by his time on the streets, and decided to protect the children who suffered like him, but did not have the same luck.

When he saw that the painting on the main stairs had been changed, for the family portrait in which he had posed. He felt something warm in his chest, an inexplicable sensation that made his eyes water.

Twelve-year-old Jason Dupain-Cheng Wayne Todd was very happy with his family.

School sucked, but Mari and Bruce were always on the lookout for him. He was very good in his fighting classes, handling weapons and in parkour.

He didn't have many civilian friends, but the Titans and Roy were everything Jason wanted.

Dick was starting his police training, so he wasn't in the mansion all the time now, but he had no plans to walk away while Jason was still at school.

His mother had given Dick the miraculous dog, his kwami Barkk, always accompanied him, even in his new training.

Jason had been handed the Miraculous Ox, with his Kwami Stompp when he had earned his right to be on the field.

Red Hood appeared in support of Batman despite Marinette's concerns.

Batman did not want magic in the vigilantes, and his family could respect that. But it was not an impediment for the kwamis to be active.

Bruce was very pleased with the development of his second son on patrol. And Jason was more than happy to swing between buildings and hit thieves.

Things were calm and happy, the Dupain-Cheng Wayne family happily unaware of a certain ten-year-old stalker who was watching his hero, Batman, Nightwing and Ladybird closely.

Yeah… Jason literally wouldn't know what hit him next time.

Certainly meeting your new brother kidnapping him wasn't a good start. But no one would say that to Timothy Jackson Drake, so it will be quite a show.

Marinette biodaughter of Bruce Wayne

This au was inspired by @ozmav maribat au.

· Bruce met Sabine when he was training in with the league of assassins

 Sabine was the top assassin of the league. Highly respected by Ra's Al Ghoul and the rival of lady Shiva.

· At first Bruce and Sabine disliked each other due to their different codes of ethics, but they slowly came to respect each other and even considering each other friends.

 Sabine started questioning the league and started to despise their needless killing, even came to regret killing in some missions in the name of the league.

· With Bruce's influence and help she decides to leave the league of assassins and turn on a new leaf.

·  Of course, Ra's refuses to let go of his top assassin, so he makes a deal with her. He gives Sabine an extremely difficult, almost impossible to complete alone with no help. (this is basically John Wick).

·         She agrees, Bruce tries to talk her out of it. The mission is just impossible and there is an extremely high probability that she will die.

·         This leads both to fight both verbally and physically.

·         It ends with a one-night stand.

·         Both agree not to talk about it, and both leave on bad terms

·         Sabine leaves to complete the mission, during this time Bruce completes his training and leaves the league.

·         Sabine of course completes the mission, much to ra's complete surprise.

·         He is a man of his word and lets Sabine go with a promise to not seek her out again or interfere with her life and those around her.

·         Few weeks later, Sabine discovers that she is pregnant with Bruce's child. And since she an Bruce's friendship ends on bad terms (with Bruce being an emotionally constipated man, who at this point of his life only think about his mission and wouldn't make a good father) Sabine decides not to tell him.

·         Sabine travels for a little bit until she arrives in Paris where she meets Tom.

·         With time they both fall in love with Tom promising to love her and her unborn child as his own.

·         When Marinette is born, Tom officially adopts her as his daughter.

·         Marinette grew up loved from her parents and had a normal happy childhood.

·         Though Sabine did teach her self-defense because you can't bee to careful.

·         When Marinette was ten years old, she meets Damian Wayne. He was separated from his guardian and got lost.  

·         Marinette offered to help him, but Damian at this point of his life was a little shit and refused. Too proud to even admit he was lost.

·         But Marinette was not deterred, and with great determination, kindness, and whining, she was able to make him cave.

·         She shows him the way back to his hotel, and saw Dick waiting outside worried out of his mind.

·         He saw Damian approaching and immediately ran towards the kids and scooped the baby assassin into a hug.

·         " Dami, I was so worried"

·         "cease your embarrassing antics Grayson, I am clearly in perfect shape. As if anything in this miserable city can harm me"

·         "hey, Paris is amazing. You take that back" shrieked Marinette

·         Only then does Dick notice a petite Asian girl glaring at Damian.

·         "well hello, who might you be?"

·         "I'm Marinette, I helped him find the hotel. He was lost" came the smugly reply

·         "I wasn’t lost you imbecile, I didn't require any assistance from you. I just "accepted your help" because you were annoying and couldn't shut up"

·         This basically started a shouting match between Marinette and Damian, while Dick observed with amusement.

·         He never seen Damian act like a child since he came to his care (Bruce is lost in time at this point, and Dick is Damián's legal guardian) and started to thick that hanging around Marinette may benefit Damian.

·         He invites Marinette to the local park, where Titus can stretch his legs, an takes her there with her parents' permeation of course.

·         Over the next few days Dick invites Marinette to come with him and Damian (much to the latter's chagrin) whenever they have free time.

·         The kids' relationship only started to improve after Marinette helped Damian take down Chloe, who was acting as her glorious bratty self.

·         It involved headbands, tooth pics, and a lipstick

·         Damián started to respect Marinette and enjoy her company after that (though he won't admit it)

·         Marinette starts talking about her friend at home, while her parents listens with amusement until she mentions his full name Damian Wayne.

·         Sabine immediately starts asking about his father.

·         At first Sabine wanted Marinette to stay away from the Waynes, but seeing how happy her Daughter is, she decided against it.

·         Fearing that both kids with time would develop feeling for their unknown half sibling, she calls Dick and tells him about Marinette's parentage.

·         Dick doesn't believe this, so Sabine gives him permission to perform a DNA test.

·         The test was done, Dick was not amused because damn it Bruce another one

·         They both decided to tell the Kids about their blood relationship

·         Damian was furious and didn't accept this, at this point of his life he thought he was the blood so of Batman and no one else

·         He ended saying some hurtful thing words towards Marinette

·         Marinette ends up crying, and runs out of the room

·         Damian is immediately consumed by guilt, especially after Dick gives him the "I am very disappointed in you" look.

·         He goes to Marinette's room to apologies and hears her crying through the door and feels even worse.

·         It takes a lot of him since he never apologized to anyone before, he does it but awkwardly.

·         Marinette forgives him because she is a forgiving person and asks Damian not to say stuff like that to her again.

·         They become close after that. They exchange numbers and e-mails to talk to each other when Damian and Dick return to Gotham.

·         Tom and Sabine are great influence over Damian. With the Dupain-chengs he starts to act more like a boy and less like the heir to the league of assassins. Dick is very happy and grateful about it.

·         The couple also parent Dick and coddles him. Both boys are adopted to the family now.

·         In Summer Marinette visits Gotham and meets Alfred. The butler grew quite fond of her.

·         She may strongly resemble Sabine, but Alfred can see Martha Wayne in her smile. A little of Thomas Wayne in the twinkle of her eyes. And a lot of Bruce when she is concentrating on something.

·         Marinette also inherited Bruce's intelligence, so she quickly discovers the family's secret.

·         She joins the boys in their training, because extra self-defense lessons can't hurt, but not on petrol. Sabine was very against it.

·         Dick introduces her to trapeze, which she fell in love with, together they are the acrobat duo.

·         So she spars with the boys, flies with Dick, bakes and cooks with Alfred (" I am pleased to know that at least one Wayne will grow to be a functioning adult". "Alfred please.STAHP")

·         And once she is introduced to the girls ("she is so cute" "stop squealing fat girl") she'll hack with Barbra, dance with Cass, and will have a girl's night out with all her older sisters especially Steph.

·         Jason meets her after he comes to the cave to use the bat-computer, then out of nowhere a petite Asian girl pops out and offers him cookies.

·         "I only known Marinette for five minutes, but if anything happens to her I'll kill everybody in this cave then myself"

·         Jason and Damian start fighting for the position of favorite brother.

·         Months passes and Marinette grows closer to all the bat-family except Tim, because he is still looking for Bruce and didn't keep tabs on what's happening in Gotham lately.

·         The Dupain-Chengs adopts the rest of the Bat-family except Alfred. Alfred adopts you, you do not adopt him.

·         The family becomes closer and the communication problem is slowly fixed.

·         Jason becomes more open. He and Dick talk about their issues, there was shouting, yelling, accusations and tears. But in the end, it was better. Not perfect but better.

·         Also, Jason finally has healthy positive parental figures in his life. "have you been eating?" "I'm proud of you son" "we love you" and other words were spoken towards Jason and the kids.

·         "o-okay" he chocks on tears.

·         Alfred later introduces the Dupain-chengs to Ma and Pa Kent and joins the " the gathering of family member of heroes, who have more common sense than the heroes"

·         Basically, the family members of heroes meet up monthly for brunch to bitch about their hero family member, while trading recipes and baby photos.

·         Alfred is the founder. Ma Kent is the president.

·         Bruce comes back and everyone is happy. No one tells him about Marinette. They all decide to troll him.

·         Marinette and Bruce accidently meet in the cave.

·         "Papa' it's good to have you back" Marinette happily hugs Bruce

·         Bruce is holding his arms awkwardly in the air, while looking down at Marinette with confusion. "who are you?!"  

·         "it's me Marinette, don't you remember me" insert fake tears

·         "A-ahh?!"

·         "Alfred Papa doesn't remember me" she wails dramatically into the butler's chest "he forgotten all about me"

·         " Honestly master Bruce, I raised you better than this. Yet here you are disowning your own daughter.

·         "yeah, shame on you B" came the eager response from Steph and Jason.

·         " I am disappointed in you father" Damian joins in. Cass nods in agreement.

·         Dick is struggling to keep his poker face intact, Barbra is pinching his arm hard to keep him away from laughing and exposing the prank.

·         Tim is sleep deprived and confused as hell.

·         The family takes bets to see when would Bruce figure out they're trolling him.

·         Spoilers alert he never does

·         They end up telling him and Alfred wins the pot.

·         "World's greatest detective indeed"

·         "alright I get it Alfred"

·         Bruce ends up adoring Marinette. He and Sabine talk again after a decade of not talking and becomes somewhat friends

·         He doesn't publicly announce Marinette as his daughter and doesn't claim her, because Tom is her father as well. And it won't be fair to him.

·         She may have Bruce's blood, but the heart is all Tom. He is grateful that his daughter grew up loved. He doesn’t want to take Tom away from her.

·         When she became Ladybug, she immediately tells her family. They're all freak out about 13 years old being a hero on her own.

·         " you need a partner"

·         "Papa chat noir is my partner"

·         "Dick go to Paris"

·         Due to the bat-family involvement, hawkmoth is defeated fast. And he is spending the rest of his life in jail.

·         Adrien goes to live with his aunt in England for a while.

·         Zatanna and Constantine are called to see if they can wake Emilie from her magic induced coma.

·         They do. And Adrien goes back to his mom

·         Hawkmoth civilian identity was never outed to the public. The justice league wanted to give the Agrestes some privacy. But there are some conspiracy theories.

·         Due to the influence of her older sisters, Marinette isn't as boy crazy as in the show. But she develops an innocent crush on both Adrien and Luka. Much to Bruce's chagrin

·         "you won't start dating until your thirty"

·         "of course papa, of course"

·         Keeping Marinette away from dating was the toughest battle Bruce ever fought. The rest of the family are just sitting behind and enjoying the show

·         Her wasn't the most normal or perfect, but Marinette loves it any way.
