The National Guard has been out of their state militia status and operating as Active-Duty Status every day since they were Federalized in March 2020.

There’s MORE than enough documentation and ‘proof’ to show not only the National Guard, but also thousands of World Alliance Aircrafts in and out of the United States and National Guard bases.

There’s United States Coast Guards with United States Navy at their stations. USCG is Department of Homeland Security during Peacetime and transferred to the Department of the Navy during Wartime.

The Brunson vs. Adams case simply states the obvious… Congress violated the Constitution.

Everyone has discarded Q because they have seen dates come and go without seeing any results. Fact is they weren't dates but rather chapters and paragraphs from the law of war manual.

Wherein Billy Butcher takes advantage of the rift and arranges for Homelander to cut ties with Vought completely. Homelander is reluctant but has few options. He’s placed under house arrest in Billy Butcher's dingy apartment until the FBI can get a deposition from him about Vought and he adjusts to his new life.

January 24, 2023

Wherein Homelander goes public with his pregnancy announcement, MM is really concerned about Butcher's plan, and Homelander and Billy Butcher continue to look for ways to live together and not strangle each other.

March 2, 2023

Wherein Billy Butcher and Homelander have a blowout fight over Homelander's reluctance to give straightforward testimony about all the abuses he underwent while being raised by Vought and they go to bed not entirely angry but not entirely reconciled either.

March 3, 2023

Wherein Billy Butcher faces the fact that he's grown attached to Homelander and resolves to be more patient and understanding. He and Homelander have a raw heart-to-heart which brings up strong emotions in both, and each of them has a lot of misgivings about how the relationship is really shaping up. Homelander has his first real pregnancy scare and has to break house arrest to tend to it.

Wherein Homelander and Billy Butcher are preparing to move into a nicer apartment, Homelander's house arrest ends, Homelander requests a baby shower, and he and Billy Butcher have one last go with his supersuit on before they are required to return it to Vought.

Wherein Homelander makes a happy discovery that his baby can see through him, and Billy Butcher brings tidings of a disturbing discovery about Ryan's fate. Something in Homelander snaps and he is newly motivated to fight back against Vought. Billy Butcher records notes for an entirely new deposition with a very different tone.

As a recovering GirlBoss, I’m officially breaking up with my post-Christmas planning routine:

29- SMART goals for upcoming year with 6-8 life categories, fully planned by quarter

30-31 fully form this in my bullet journal while watching The life changing Magic of Tidying Up

Jan 1: Bring. It. On. Whole house, health, and work reset.

Sound exhausting? It was!

I don’t look on this era of my life (2016-2022) with cringe. Quite the opposite! That girl radically transformed her life from a broke, traumatized, single mom, community college dropout to a financially stable, creative, happy, MBA graduate with her dream job.

I am so grateful for her drive, determination, and passion. I am so proud of her.

And also? I’m so relieved I can no longer relate.

As someone whose core values are consistently curiosity and growth, I’m willing to adapt and change over time, shedding practices that no longer serve me in favor of those that do.

In 2022, at my post-graduation dinner, I signed a napkin promising my friends I would slow down. And I did, immediately scaling back my volunteerism and commitments in favor of radical rest and the pursuit of creative endeavors.

That winter, I made a paper chain to count down towards the winter Solstice in an effort to thwart the post-time change blues. When it worked, I adopted warmth, coziness, and light into my winter routine. Candles. Electric blankets. A soup a week. I also adapted my speed, just as we have done for most of our time on this earth. It also worked!

Since then, naturally, I’ve slowly been attuning my life to the seasons.

Spring — renewal, garden, waking up. Summer — enjoying time outdoors, being active and social.

Fall — abundance and gratitude, preparation for the holidays.

Winter is now a time of peace, joy, and reflection. I close my curtains at four, intentionally, and turn on my lamps, hit Netflix fireplace, and hang with a craft on my lap and good music in the background.

But I was still clinging to that last vestige of my GirlBoss era—my post-holiday planning session.

On the 26th, I couldn’t bring myself to take down the tree. She’s gorgeous and I love her! She’s staying up until January 6th this year. With the new job, I can’t take the entire week off. That’s ok! I still started my planning process.

No buy 2025.

Nervous system regulation.

A holistic health plan.

Glow up 2025!

Bucket list travel items.

To read, watch, and listen liste.

WIP creative projects.

Home to do list.

Action steps! Quarterly plans! Stationary!

And this morning, with my bullet journal still unfinished, I tried to reconcile stacks of paper with notes, dozens of screen shots, and multiple notes apps.

I felt frazzled, overwhelmed, and defeated. Why couldn’t I pick a path forward? Why couldn’t I even start a January page. Planning is my jam! As an ADHDer, it’s practically my calling.

So I had to ask myself…why am I doing this? If this is something I truly want to do, that aligns with my values, then it shouldn’t be this hard.

My time of renewal has transitioned to spring; so shouldn’t that be my time of planning for the new year? Isn’t it a little crazy to have fifteen major life goals this year? 2024 just wrapped up, so shouldn’t I take time to reflect on it, take stock, and truly understand what I want to take into my next year? Shouldn’t I take time to recover from the holidays? Would the world end if I stay slow and steady and take this slow season to fill my metaphorical well?

No, it will not.

So that’s what I’m doing.

My January calendar is noted with intentional social engagements and creative time. I put my goals away and instead loaded a bunch of reflective journal prompts to work through in the next month. Or two. Or three!

It feels vulnerable and wrong, not walking into the New Year with a Plan. But the bigger part of me thinks my lowercase plan—to rest, reflect, and connect with my friends and family, is going to work just fine.

So my hope for you is that you are at peace with where you’re at. And if you aren’t at peace, that you take the time to understand why, and that you’re willing to adjust course.

If you need a GirlBoss era, l will cheer you on, every step of the way! If you have a few goals, I hope you stick with them!

But if you, like me, want to stay slow, recover, and savor the season?

Some personal history

I joined MLKSHK by invitation on January 6, 2011 as a regular user. I found MLKSHK to be a breath of fresh air compared to your typical social media site (which still holds true today). After the shutdown announcement in 2014, I tried to offer help and reached out again around July 2014 after the announcement that the site would not be closing. I had met Andre once before, but mostly knew of him through colleagues at Six Apart. Andre took me up on the volunteer help… remember, by this time he wasn’t running MLKSHK as a business, so the ~3 years that follow are maintaining the site as a hobby, particularly since it was still losing money.

Initially, I helped with site performance issues, including some query optimizations. As time passed, it became clear that the site was still in danger of closing due to the cost of services it was incurring, which was not offset enough by subscriptions. So Andre and I went through a cost assessment process and we identified a number of things that could be done. Switching away from Fastly to a cheaper CDN (KeyCDN at the time) shaved CDN operational costs by 66% (Fastly charges 12 cents per gigabyte of transfer and KeyCDN charges 4 cents) so we started there, since it was the easiest change to make and had the most impact.

I also helped with the site’s participation in the “Good Web Bundle” promotion which brought in a few subscribers and returning members. The following year (2015), we had to rebuild subscriptions from scratch since both Tugboat and Amazon payments had to be retired, and we replaced those with Stripe. Alas, the site was still just not able to sustain itself as it was, and a decision was made to close for good in 2017.

Before that happened, the MLKSHK community began a conversation with Andre to transition the site to a community-run operation. I wasn’t involved in discussions, so don’t have insight into the choice behind creating a new domain and brand instead of adopting MLKSHK outright (I suspect Andre just preferred a clean break). Andre agreed to share all data and source code to the transition team. I helped with transitioning the source code for MLKSHK; cleaning it up for the basis of the MLTSHP repository to become an open source project.

It was decided that it would be best to make MLTSHP more closed in nature… so much of MLKSHK was open to free users, even some allowance for post creation. The plan was to relaunch with a membership requirement, but also with two price plans - the regular $24/year membership (plus an option to specify any amount over $24/year if the member wants to), and a new $3/year membership which effectively was the same level of service that was provided for free registered users before. While posting was being restricted to members, we wanted to keep certain things open for all: our “Popular” page, and individual post links which can be shared anywhere.

There would be some downtime between MLKSHK’s closure and the launch of MLTSHP. We aimed to keep that downtime low, but it gave us some time to make some larger changes that would make for a more sustainable and cost-efficient service.

Switching off of Amazon AWS for web server and database service was a big one. I had wanted to do this for MLKSHK as early as 2014, but we never did. I took a snapshot of AWS expenses from January 2017 and costs for that month were $400 (just RDS + S3 + EC2 and outbound data transfer to our CDN). We switched these to use Linode. For CDN service, KeyCDN was more cost effective than Fastly was, but we decided to switch to using Cloudflare for CDN since it wouldn’t cost anything (ironically, MLTSHP has since switched back to Fastly after receiving an offer to operate at no cost). The only remaining AWS feature MLTSHP is using is S3 for block storage. There are some cheaper S3-compatible services available, but the potential savings have never justified the task of a migration. Operational costs today are less than half of what we were spending for AWS alone, and we pay nothing for CDN service.

We also set up a real deployment process, utilizing Buildkite (they offer a free account for us to use), making it easier to test and deploy community-led changes. This also included utilizing Docker which also makes it easier for contributors to run their own copy of the site locally for development.

Ahead of MLTSHP’s launch, a service was built that would transcode GIF images (a popular, but heavy file format) to video formats that those would serve instead of the original GIF file. This was a cost-saving measure, since popular GIFs lead to a lot of traffic, so the smaller the better.

Another must-have for relaunch was a process that would migrate a user’s MLKSHK data when they signed into MLTSHP. This required us to load all the MLKSHK data into the MLTSHP database (in a separate set of tables) and we also had permission from Andre to make a wholesale copy of the MLKSHK S3 bucket to MLTSHP’s S3 bucket so all images were preserved.

And we also had a full rebranding to do. Replacing all site design and assets so that it was different, but retaining the spirit of the original site.

There have been a lot of changes to the site since that time. We’ve added site-wide search, responsive design so the site works well for mobile devices, support for light and dark mode, an alt text field so images can be described, and many other things. Big feature releases are few and far between, but the site is stable which is a great feature.

Our Github repo has had 412 commits from 26 different contributors. There’s still a lot of stuff to do (patches welcome)! But the most important feature we’ve developed is a self-sustainable community. We don’t have to worry about closing.

An Australian brand that specializes in swimwear for surfers has come under fire after bringing on a trans-identified male as one of their “female” brand ambassadors. Rip Curl’s controversial move comes just months after the company dropped Bethany Hamilton, a shark attack victim, for voicing her opposition to trans-identified males competing in female sporting competitions.

Rip Curl cut ties with Hamilton in November 2023, despite her status as one of the most celebrated female surfers in Australia and abroad. The decision came after Hamilton publicly opposed gender ideology policies which permit males to compete against women.

Last February, Hamilton shared two videos to her Instagram account questioning October 2022 guidelines adopted by the World Surf League, in accordance with the International Surfing Association, which granted males who claim a transgender status permission to compete against female athletes.

“Is a hormone level an honest and accurate depiction that someone indeed is a male or female? Is it as simple as this?” she asked. In her follow up video, she questioned the policy again. “Am I just a hormone number? Is it as simple as that?”

In her reaction to the new guidelines, Hamilton had also threatened to boycott the World Surf League, and has been outspoken in support of fairness in women’s sports on social media since.

On January 24, Rip Curl posted a video on their women-focused Instagram page, Rip Curl Women, which featured Sasha Jane Lowerson, a trans-identified male surfer.

In the description of the video, Rip Curl described Lowerson, 44, as “a West Australian waterwoman who loves the freedom found in surfing, disconnecting from the mainstream, and the feeling of dancing on constantly changing waves.”

Seemingly anticipating a flood of negative responses, Rip Curl locked their Instagram comments in an effort to limit discussion on their new ambassador.

Lowerson competed successfully in men’s surfing competitions prior to identifying as a “woman.”

“With a commitment to maintaining a positive space for all, we have disabled our comments. Thank you for your understanding,” the sportswear company added.

Lowerson drew criticism in 2022 after taking first in both the Open Women’s Longboard and Open Women’s Logger events at the West Coast Suspensions state championships. Just three years prior to competing in the women’s category, Lowerson, competing under the name Ryan Egan, had taken a top position in the men’s category.

Lowerson had previously celebrated the updated guidelines by World Surf League in February 2023 which permits men to compete in women’s swimming competitions if they reduce their testosterone below a level known to be much higher than what women naturally produce on average.

In advance of the ruling, Lowerson had already been competing in women’s competitions. In March 2022, Lowerson placed ninth in the Noosa Festival of Surfing, becoming the first “trans woman” to compete in surfing at the professional level. Two months later, he placed first in the Open Women’s and Women’s Logger divisions at the Western Australian State Titles. 

In an interview with THEM, a pro-trans publication, Lowerson said he began surfing many years ago but didn’t begin identifying as a woman until his 40s.

“I’ve been a professional longboard surfer for many years. And in that time, I hid in the closet basically. I tried to transition at 19 and again at 29. And now, in my early 40’s, I’ve been successful.”

Reacting to Lowerson being platformed by Rip Curl, many women online expressed anger that the brand would drop a disabled female surfer, only to then work with a male surfer who competes in female competitions.

Many women called for consumers to boycott the brand.

“Company @ripcurl hired a MAN to advertise their women’s line, rather than an amazing female athlete. Amazing. They hate women don’t they. Don’t buy anything from these people. #BoycottRipCurl,” one critic said on X.

“Imagine dropping an athlete that survived a shark attack and went onto be one of the best surfers in the world for a mentally ill Man competing in women’s surfing? Seriously Ripcurl? #BoycottRipCurl,” wrote another woman.

#BoycottRipCurl has been trending on X for the last two days as women continue to express their outrage.

Lowerson has made his Instagram account private following the backlash. However, Reduxx was able to obtain photos from the page showing Lowerson modeled sexually suggestive outfits with captions that related to his surfing career.

Since news of Lowerson’s partnership with Rip Curl first broke, female athletes have spoken out against the brand and in support of Hamilton.

Swimming Champion and activist for women’s sports Riley Gaines called out Rip Curl on X, encouraging her followers to boycott them.

In a follow-up post, Gaines stated: “Encouraging to see so many people reply that they’re throwing out their Rip Curl apparel and pledging not to buy from them again. I didn’t know people still wore Ripcurl anyways. RIP Rip Curl.”

Gaines has been outspoken against the inclusion of male athletes in female sports after she was forced to compete against Will “Lia” Thomas in the 200 freestyle final at the NCAA Women’s Championships in 2022. Gaines and Hamilton are expected to join forces to host a story hour for children on 2nd February in Springfield, Missouri to celebrate the launch of their new books, “Happy No Snakes Day” by Gaines and “Surfing Past Fear” by Hamilton. Trans activists are expected to protest the family event.

Skateboarder Taylor Silverman also chimed in to condem Rip Curl. Silverman has also been outspoken against males competing in female sports since voicing her own experience being displaced by males participating in women’s skateboarding.

Anyone else thinking that when this guy won his last event in a men's competition he saw a lot of younger competition and knew that his days surfing professionally was coming to an end unless he did something drastic?

This period where we don't know for sure what happened in the prison during intermission, I want to run through as many possibilities as I can, so this might be a bit beyond Occam's Razor, but I've been thinking about Mahiru specifically a lot since Curtain Call. I'm beginning to believe it is possible that she had killed herself, which perhaps would almost be too cruel but...

Content warning for indepth discussions of suicide including rationale behind it, risk factors and warning signs etc. etc. You know Milgram.

There are many factors that go into someone attempting; mental health, physical health, environment, social state, and access to protective factors. I am going to go step-by-step over the risk factors given by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (hencefore, AFSP).

Let's go over Mahiru's health first. Quite a bit of this will be a "well duh" moment but please bear with me. AFSP lists the health risk factors to be mental health conditions, serious physical health conditions (including pain) and traumatic brain injury. I don't believe I have to reiterate how bad her physical health was, and I don't have the means to prove a traumatic brain injury (although I believe it's more likely than not, considering Shidou's diagnosis.) but I do think Mahiru's mental health was far worse than many believed, in part because she attempts to cover it up so well so as to avoid worrying and upsetting others.

I know I said I didn't have to go over the physical health but let's do it anyway and first. Mahiru has been severely disabled by Kotoko's attack and has only gotten worse since the attack. In Yuno's birthday conversation of 2022, Mahiru states she doesn't feel any pain only if she doesn't move too much. By January 2023, it looks as if she has improved because she is able to move about in her wheel-chair, but in her voice drama in May 2023, she covers up her pain, telling Es it doesn't hurt even though it very clearly does. She is barely able to continue with the actual interrogation, coughing and breathing very heavily by the end. In her last timeline conversation, likely the last we will ever see of her ( : ( ) she calls Kotoko over to her because she is struggling to move on her own; her pain has gotten that bad or she has gotten that fatigued and she says very little. This seems to be a "rapid" decline when we last saw her in January of 2024, she was still able to talk at length and ease with Fuuta (in comparison at least).

Shidou states in his voice drama that one of her injuries is a left anterior compression fracture - that is a spinal compression fracture / spinal cord injury. These are extremely painful injuries with high rates of chronic pain even after the injury has healed. An estimated range of 5.8% to 11% of deaths [x] after someone has received a spinal cord injury is attributed to suicide. Chronic pain especially is a significant risk factor for suicidal ideation, with rates ranging from 18 to 50%. [x]

While I was researching the above, I stumbled upon the idea of mental defeat, which I don't think I've seen mentioned yet in discussions of Milgram. There is a paragraph explaining it in the above paper but I'll copy and paste it here. "The concept of mental defeat originated from the trauma literature and has been extensively studied in the context of depression21,22 post-traumatic stress disorder23–26 and psychosis.27 The concept was first applied to the study of chronic pain in 2007 with mental defeat defined as negative appraisals of self in relation to pain.28 Qualitative research has found that individuals with chronic pain may experience specific catastrophic thoughts related to their physical condition, such as "the pain is so bad that I will soon be permanently confined to a wheelchair", but that they may also experience a more pervasive catastrophic sense of mental defeat, such as "the pain makes me feel destroyed as a person"29 and “I just felt everything had beaten me and there’s nothing I could do. I couldn’t fight anymore.”30 These negative appraisals of self are conceptualized as mental defeat, which is characterized by the perceived loss of autonomy due to uncontrollable traumatic events, resulting in the person giving up efforts to retain identity and self-will.29,31" [x]

This doesn't so immediately apply to Mahiru, but consider what her guilty signified - a denial of the way she had lived her life, the way she had loved. She states in her 2022 birthday timeline conversation that she has always lived her life like this. This denial compounded with her subsequent assault has had a profoundly negative impact on her. Shidou states outright in his second trial voice drama that he believes her mental health is deteriorating, but I believe it has been getting worse long before Kotoko's attack, starting right after her guilty verdict.

The first conversation we get from Mahiru after her guilty brings up the nightmares she had been having of people denying her thoughts and actions. The next for her 2022 birthday? Has her wondering if there was any reason for her being born. Yuno responds (paraphrased) "Isn't it a bit much to think that everything in life has a meaning? If it makes you happy to think like that then go ahead, but if it doesn't, then isn't that in itself meaningless?"

Mahiru states that Yuno might be right, but she doesn't really know the answer, as she has always lived her life as a romantic type. Romance and love is the bedrock of Mahiru; it is practically how she defines herself and how others define her. This conversation was pre-Kotoko attack, so even before the situation gets as bad as it does, Mahiru had been questioning her life's meaning.

We next see evidence of Mahiru's decline in her voice drama. She has come to accept that her boyfriend might be dead because of her love, but she can't understand how. She believes she loved normally, and this was the result. She says she's resolved to live as she had, to continue to love because she doesn't believe she's done anything wrong. She cannot live without love.

But how her mv contradicts this belief is very telling on its own. She's clearly wrestling with how to reconcile her heart and belief in love with how her boyfriend committed suicide.

Mahiru believes she doesn't know how to love properly; how to love in a way that isn't strangling (the lyrics are covered in metaphors for breathlessness). She continues to love, because she doesn't know how not to. Some may say that her lines in the song "my emotions are out of control? that's inconvient? i don't care" as her refuting that her love was wrong. But if that was the case

Why does she describe her love as monstrous?

Mahiru's faith in her love as an act of good has been completely shattered and without that tether to her former life, her condition deteriorates when it had been improving before the knowledge that that was why Es had voted her guilty. Losing her love is like losing her life and in this way, Mahiru shows signs of mental defeat. I just felt everything had beaten me and there’s nothing I could do. I couldn’t fight anymore.”30

To draw a big highlighter over it, during Shidou's birthday conversation in 2023, she discusses family with Shidou. She states that it was my dream to become a bride. It may be old fashioned but I wanted it to come true...

Either she had no hope of getting out of Milgram alive, or she had fully given up on the idea that she would be married - both are likely, but why would she believe she wouldn't be making it out of Milgram if she had already been voted innocent? She's lived this long with these injuries, right?

Simple - she couldn't imagine a life after it, even with Shidou's attempts at encouragement. Talking about having no reason to live and feeling hopeless are some of the major changes in behavior to warn for a suicide attempt.

Another sign is visiting or calling people to say goodbye. Knowing now that she is dead, it's hard to view her happy birthday to Kotoko and her stated intent to thank Shidou, as her way of saying goodbye.

This theory is already extremely long, so I will unfortunately be skipping over her PTSD symptoms. Just know I believe she has it, she clearly has a reaction within her voice drama, and that PTSD is the only anxiety disorder that is significantly associated with suicidal ideation or attempts.

Okay, next AFSP lists environmental factors as contributors to increased suicide risk: access to lethal means, prolonged stress (milgram project as a whole), stressful life events, discrimination and - this is a critical one: exposure to another person's suicide, or to graphic or sensationalized accounts of suicide. We know Haruka committed suicide to secure Muu's innocent vote for this trial. We also know that Muu was more or less the sole care-taker of Haruka when he locked himself away. Shidou expresses regret that he is unable to check in on him in Haruka's birthday 2024 timeline conversation and he feels as though he placed a burden on Muu for it.

We cannot say for certainty when Haruka did it. He was last seen in Fuuta's birthday in April and Muu's voting period closed a week or so after. After his birthday, he isn't mentioned in any of the timeline conversations. We can't even say how the knowledge of his suicide was given to the prisoners at large; though both Fuuta and Kotoko knew of his plan before he went through with it. There are a million and one factors that contribute to how this exposure adds to the suicide risk of others. Proximity, a feeling of helplessness ("how could i not have known""i should have done more for him", these are common thoughts those close to suicide victims have), it is an extremely shocking thing

Mahiru is selfless to a fault. She doesn't want to hurt others and she doesn't want to be hurt. She forgives others their cruelties to her, she just wants to understand. She fawns and fawns and fawns and apologizes for making others worry about her. I don't believe it is a stretch to say that her hearing of Haruka's suicide would worsen her own depression. I think it would be extremely easy for her to begin to feel guilty over it - Shidou always seemed to be quite honest with her in regards to his worries and hopes. All it would take is one thoughtless comment from him (or any of the prisoners) about how alone Haruka had been in his final days for her to possibly begin to spiral, especially considering her feelings over her boyfriend's suicide. If Shidou hadn't needed to take care of her... could he have cared for Haruka better? If Mahiru's love had led to a death, and if Mahiru being loved and cared for led to a death... what was the point of loving?

I'm skipping the other environmental risk factors because I think they're quite self-explanatory. The entire set-up of MILGRAM heightens stress. She is in an environment where she is in close proximity with the one who put her in a wheelchair, who is, for most of the time walking around freely.

Mahiru was already under duress because she had what she believes is the meaning of life (love) challenged directly. Depending on what exactly prisoners hear of what we discuss, do you think she knows many voted her innocent not because they believe her love is right, but because they were concerned for her health? Even though she says it quite clearly:

"So... if this love isn't allowed, then I don't mind dying."

If she can't love properly, and her love is a burden to others and if being loved leads to others getting hurt - then what is the point of living at all?
