A few ways to color filter the under the water scene. Completely blue or not or somewhat filtered or not. The second here is the ending to the second story in Tippy Teen #1, one of two stories drawn for Tower Comics by Decarlo. It follows one of two stories drawn for Tower by Lucey. The premise is a run-away car -- lots of reaction shots of passer by characters -- definite recurrent premises in Archie. Here you see the jalopy of the redheaded love interest for the blonde girl. Don't accuse it of being any knock off, though -- after all, proceeding they recycle scripts from the Quality Comics series Candy.

Jalopy

Americans have long associated their social status with their cars. Perhaps that attitude began with the hot rod, a modified version of the roadster. The hot rod was the creation of young men with more time than money that hoped to compete with their wealthier counterparts. Ultimately, it was a hobby that captivated the heart of a generation. Here are some funny photographs of high school teenagers riding around in a jalopy in Des Moines, Iowa, 1947.
