MOUNTAIN LION THEORY DOESNT MAKE SENSE

Ok. Inhale. I’m gonna break my silence. I don’t think a mountain cat or whatever was responsible for the farmer’s death. I believe whole heartedly that Henry must have killed him, because even if a damn cat was eating the man (the disemboweled guts makes sense) it wouldn’t have eaten his head? Crushed his brain? You know? Where if Henry stomped hard enough on the man’s head he COULD have caused the skull to fracture and the brains to be exposed. Because if you remember Henry says the man’s brains were smeared everywhere. And Henry’s hand is implied to have fleshy material on it (“My hand was drenched in blood, and worse than blood”).

And by the way the man fought back against Henry. If a mountain lion had been there (meaning if you think whatever retaliated Henry’s first punch was a mountain cat)— well, Henry wouldn’t have lived to tell the tale. And also Henry heard a scream when he attacked. So:

1. He did not fight off a mountain lion (as if his ass could 😹)

2. The man was alive when Henry was attacking him

Now listen to this. A mountain lion would typically go for the neck, and there would be deep lacerations on the corpse. Yes there IS a chance it might have tried to attack the man’s head but unlikely. How many coincidences can happen? First, mountain lion attacks are infrequent and NON-FATAL bcs it is mostly the younger ones that attack. That’s two coincidences. They typically attack the neck. If it attacked his skull that’s a third coincidence. The fourth damn coinkidink is Henry finding the body. ALSO mountain lions drag their prey/hunt to a cache area with cover. (Also, any deep cuts on the man were not mentioned)

It could be that the man had been previously injured by an animal attack, or maybe the lion was dragging him away when Henry stumbled on it, startling the animal to run off. But I don’t think it would just scamper off without a fight. (And we know Henry’s dumb ass ain’t beating a mountain lion) in any case, even if the man had been attacked by the lion, it was still Henry who killed him or at least accelerated the death process.

Idk, I don’t believe Henry mutilated an already dead man because someone screamed when he attacked. AND retaliated. AND neither Charles nor Francis had been on the scene yet. AND before you say it could be Camilla, I’m sure Henry would know a man scream from a girl one. 🤓

Sometimes things are as simple as they seem, lol. Charles and Francis had been together so it’s not likely Henry attacked them. Camilla had most likely been on the scene watching Henry attack, but she was probably ducking or staying still because Henry was lowkey attacking anything in sight. Maybe she was crouching or kneeling in a way that only her hair got bloodied from the shit Henry was doing to the farmer (you know, actively smearing his brains everywhere and disemboweling him?) and then she ran off when Henry was distracted being crazy

See the idea here is that it’s not humanly possible (except that it is) but they want to believe that a godly entity was with them, so they played up the “wow divine power” aspect of it.

Also how has nobody pointed this out yet. KING PENTHEUS YALL??? He banned Dionysus’ worship and got lured to a forest where Agave (his own mother) mistook him for a lion and tore his head off. I don’t remember where exactly a mountain lion is mentioned in the book (I tried word searching and it didn’t come up smh) but if it was mentioned, the story of Agave (driven mad by Dionysus btw) was probably the reason why.
