Neopets is so funny right now. It's a 24-year-old website and half its pages haven't been updated in 15 years. Its ostensible audience is children. The core active audience appears to be nostalgic 20-40-year-olds. Old code means no accounts or pets can ever be renamed. The virtual pound is full of virtual pets named after Justin Bieber. It has an economy and inflation is rampant. New ownership is combating this with the stimulus of random super-rare items via daily quests and events, while the equivalent of Neopian Upper-Crust complain that their investments are deflating. You can't say seaweed or grapes.

Hey internet etiquette question for y'all

If I want to make a plushie inspired by art I've seen, and it is not for commercial use, I'm not selling it or sharing the pattern, should I still contact the artist first? Or just tag them in the post with the finished plushie and link back to the specific art I based it on? (or reblog their post with the photo of the plushie?) If you were the artist, which would you prefer? Or would you prefer something else? edited to add: I did used to always message the artist first but then sometimes by the time they responded I'd have moved on to the next thing and then I'd feel bad for not making their plushie? It's completely understandable for them to not reply to messages immediately, I also don't always respond quickly, I just felt guilty for not making their plushies after I'd asked about it and it stopped me sewing plushies based on art entirely for a while

I impulse bought an art print on Etsy for my bathroom. The seller's about page said they used to sell hand drawn pieces before they opened their own print shop, and now they sold prints. That seemed legit enough for me. A few days pass, and something is nagging me. Maybe it's simply that I hardly ever impulse buy. Either way, I look at the item page again. I read the item description all the way through.

At the very end, it states that the print is hand made, but "enchanced" with "digital generation."

I messaged the seller, asking them to confirm the print isn't made with AI. I lied and said I read the description before buying but thought the digital enhancement part was in reference to Photoshop. I said the idea of AI just crossed my mind. I bluffed and claimed I was sure Etsy's policy on AI was that it had to be explicitly stated. I said I thought AI was unethical and didn't want to accidentally buy it because of unclear language.

The seller responded back that they wouldn't be able to ship by the date I requested and would cancel the order. The order was canceled immediately. I messaged back and said I never said anything about a specific date, I just wanted to know about AI. No response.

I go back to the item page, and the description has been changed. It now admits that the work is created with the aid of AI.

The thing about jakks is when that even if they ship more than just sonic, do you really think Terrence Jacob Samson, who is going through his 3rd divorce and hasn't played a game since ring around the rosie would see a box of sonic toys and think to grab more than just sonic while restocking the shelves. And no one buys the leftover sonics on the shelves cause i dont need Sonic, but this time, he's doing his taxes or sonic but he's holding a chili dog

breakfast at tiffany's, along with afternoon tea. had the pleasure of indulging in the most delicious finger sandwiches ever! the pastries were so soft and buttery smooth, they made for a perfect snack. i would have much preferred to wear a tiffany blue coord for the occasion, but all of my sax items were quite a few shades too light in comparison.. maybe next time!

oh to add on to that post about merch being resold at an unusually higher price, idk if this fits a bill but i still have this memory of seeing a suspicious dude snatching up a bunch of pokemon tcg booster packs off the rack a kmart that i go to. I automatically assumed he was a scalper because for many he stole and snuck in his clothes. so yeah, scalpers are a type of thief. mayhaps it is best to report any seller who sells merch at a stupidly high price.

i've been hearing about this kinda thing yeah!! like god idc if you wanna buy a ton of boosters tbh IF you're doing it bc you genuinely want to collect all the cards. thats what they're there for. its so irritating to watch even as someone who isnt actively collecting tcg things. please for the love of god stop buying prismatic evolutions etbs for like $250 when they're supposed to be $70 are you nuts
