I am, at long last, getting around to watching the new season of The Dragon Prince so. Have some of my thoughts on the new episodes. Uh I guess this is kind of a liveblog thing? Viren. Viren listen. I appreciate that you are attempting to heal and face justice and become a better person separated from dark magic. I really do appreciate it. Good for you. HOWEVER. Perhaps, just maybe, abandoning your daughter, who has become an amputee less than a day ago, in the wilderness with no one but her boyfriend after she just completed a very traumatizing ritual AND knowing that she has severe abandonment issues after her mother and brother both left her. Is not the best move? Like. That girl is not mentally stable she needs support. She does not need her dad abandoning her on a beach, covered in blood and missing a leg as she screams and cries for him not to leave her. Viren, just caring about your daughter does not automatically make you a good dad. Viren. Viren you have to actually stay and support your child and NOT LEAVE HER IN THE FUCKING WILDERNESS. I do, though appreciate how they are creating a character who does CARE about his children so so much. And is still an absolutely god awful father to both of them.

Ohhh… Poor Zym… He misses his mama. Also, I can’t remember if this was in previous seasons, but I appreciate the stitching in the painting where it was mended after being ripped apart. Such a good detail.

Mmmm the difference between Rayla and Callum. Rayla will put the safety of the world over her loved ones. Callum will put his loved ones over the safety of the world. Rayla refuses doing something that could potentially endanger the world even if it would mean getting her parents back.

Oh, so it’s not Aaravos influencing Callum it’s just Callum being anxious. Also, give Callum’s voice actor an award he's nailed the tone of "so filled with anxious energy you can't stop you have to do something, it's like you're driven by a motor." and that is a very specific tone.

Weekly photo blog update! Ramble about these and life under the cut 😊

We found this amazing collection of books from 1945 about historical fashion second hand for super cheap! It's illustrated, in color, and in excellent condition, I'm over the moon 🥰 also the antique book fair is back in the city and we can't wait to go visit, I'll probably go next week so I'll share more later! although I really need to stop getting books, I've been out of bookshelf space for months now and they already took over half of the dinning table 😆

This little shop in the photos is where we get spices and dried fruit and it's very pretty so I thought I would share

Today we went out for sushi to one of our favourite places! It's venezuelan-japanese fusion and it's so so good, the drink is papelon con limon and I highly recommend it!

And last are these amazing thrift finds!! The skirt and sweater are perfect aaaaa I'm going to style so many autumn outfits soon after the weird heat wave passes, I can't wait!!

On a more depressing note, yesterday was my father's first birthday since his death a couple of months ago, and I also saw his tomb for the first time, my aunt sent me a picture at the graveyard and it's such a strange sight, seeing his name on a cross on the ground feels unreal. I try not to think about it too much, it's like if I stop running or look back it will catch up with me. We lit a candle last night with Nicolas and talked about him, it's getting easier to remember the good over the bad with time so I'm happy about that 😊

Not to be too demanding, but will the drabbles include the poly romances? Because I do imagine it would change a lot of how the characters feel. But don't feel pressured to do it. It's completely fine if you don't.

Although it makes me wonder how you are planning the polys to go. Are we going to confess first to one of the characters? Or to the two characters at once? And are the polys a true triad, or a V poly?

Anyway. In truth I'm just asking because, selfishly, I want more Jay. But I do think both Jay and Ravi would have a different mind space if they got to wake up next to each other and MC.

That said, I understand if you don't write the poly drabbles. Since it would mean either going back and forth between POVs, or writing 2 different drabbles of the same moment. And that's a lot of work for something like this.

Of course, if you want to do it, I think all of us readers will love it. Just, if you do write these, please take care of yourself and don't overwork, okay? Straining yourself is not a good thing.

To start out, I don't think you're being demanding at all! It's a good question. To be honest, I'd really like to do drabbles for the polyships. I'm very fond of them, and I think it'd be a fun chance to explore them early on.

Especially because so far, these drabbles have all been tastes of how the relationship between MC and the RO is going to go. In a way they sort of...hint at the general vibe. And I'd like to be able to do that for the polyships, as well!

That being said, I'm hitting the same roadblocks you've mentioned here in the ask. I'm not sure how I'd handle the POVs, because switching between two POVs would feel like a lot for such short drabbles, and writing out the same drabble twice from different POVs would also be a Feat. And I'm not sure if people would enjoy them from just one POV, either...

Especially considering that, like you're saying, each half of the polyship would have totally different thoughts and vibes. And they'd have a lot to think about one another as well as MC.

Lots of words to say that it's something I'm considering, as I really would like to write them, but I have to figure out how to go about it first.

As for the polyships themselves--all three (can be) closed triads! Beck/MC/Perri and Jay/MC/Ravi are always closed triads, while Jay/MC/Yasmin can be a closed triad or a V, with MC dating Jay and staying FWBs with Yasmin.

The MC will always be the driving force in the polyships. My personal philosophy with these ships is that they're between characters that could conceptually get together on their own, but without MC's involvement, they never would. The MC is, in a way, the thing that brings them together--and the glue that makes the relationship work.

As for confessions, it's something I'll have to figure out as I'm writing it! Especially because it'll be different based on the particular polyship. A very loose estimate, though:

Beck and Perri are kind of a package deal in regards to their polyship. The MC will have chances to develop their attraction to both separately, but I really see them being the two you'd most likely confess to in one combined conversation. But it still depends on where the writing takes me!

Jay and Ravi are...complicated. Their relationship has ups and downs throughout the story, and adding a combined attraction to MC into the mix won't make anything easier. If I had to guess, I'd wager that MC will end up talking to them separately before they talk to them together.

And Jay and Yasmin especially are a unique case, since you can build MC's attraction and relationship with Jay while being FWBs with Yasmin! It's the one combination where, instead of having a 'choose one or the other' scene with your RO if you're FWBs with Yas, Jay will instead be like 'I'm polyam and not against this, but we Need To Talk About It'. And then, if you choose for Yasmin to develop ~feelings~, then the triad ship can develop!

Once again, just kind of general overviews on my thoughts going into things! Also, I can't blame you for wanting more Jay, haha. Me, too, tbh. They're a treat to write.

Memories for him tend to come and go; he doesn't dwell on them.

It's disgusting, smelly, full of crime and corruption and pissy homeless people; everyone's getting killed left and right by vampires or the murder cultists whos temple the city is built on, everyone is racist - long story short, he loves it.

this game is just so impressive to behold. there are so many incredible details - i think even the way they've animated people walking is historically accurate (i remember reading something about how people would walk by stepping down with the pad of their foot before the heel), which only makes sense with the huge bibliography i saw listed in the credits. it really feels like a window directly into a time and place. like a needle threading through generations like a folded fabric.

there's something so. So Very about exploring the past and history from a time that, to us, is also a distant history. it's always layers. so many buildings in my norwegian hometown are built on top of old medieval ruins. southern sweden is full of runestones scattered across farmlands. religion was never a clean slate, but a compromise between traditions - what has an italian saint to do with scandinavia? yet we celebrate her by wearing a crown of leaves and candles and carry lights into the long darkness.

i'm probably going to chew on this game for a while - and probably replay it to explore some of the storylines i didn't get to this first time around. it's intimidating to be put into the trolley problem - someone is going to die, you can't prevent this, and there is a small comfort in knowing there is no way out, no combination of actions that could've made everything better for everyone in tie everything up in a neat, satisfying knot. it's a shock to find that being kind doesn't solve everything, save everyone - and in at least one case, actively dooms them. i don't think the kindness was ever wasted, and certainly love never is. sometimes the circumstances are unjust. sometimes the circumstances are out of our hands. and we can't fix everything, not by ourselves. it takes a village, i suppose.

it's scary to play a game with branching paths that autosaves and you have no choice but moving along with whatever you picked. i suspect savescumming would go against the message of the story. sometimes i felt despair at choices i had to make even where i wouldn't have picked anything else. i have some regrets, but i have accepted my regrets, and i think i ended the game as well as i could...!

the thing is that i understand how sexual transgression functions in rocky horror pretty intricately but i can’t voice it bc people will misunderstand and think i’m excusing the rape scene when i’m Not i just understand it. it’s not on accident any more than the incest is on accident and it’s supposed to be understood as an assault. unfortunately this is where people stop instead of like. digging into what exactly these taboos are expressing and from who’s point of view they’re from and how they’re functioning in the wider story.
