I used to be very uncomfortable/stressed out about my gender/sexuality, because I am a nonbinary lesbian (Something that already confuses people) but I like fictional men too.

Then I started being... not attracted to real men, but like... more enthusiastic about commenting when someone looks good..?

And after a while it just kinda hit me.

I have been severely depressed as long as I can remember. But the past few years, things have mostly just been getting better, at least with my mental health.

I just want to love. I want to share the love I was too afraid to give and receive most of my life. I want to love my friends. I want to love my hobbies. I want to love the random people I see on the street. I want to love myself.

I'm still a lesbian. Wouldn't date a man. Still love certain fictional men though.

But I just... I want to love. And if me wanting to love makes people confused about who I am, I don't really care anymore? I picked the labels that I feel fit me best. I don't need to explain myself if I don't want to.

omg hii!! in my opinion, a crush is a fleeting feeling of attraction/adoration. it's someone you see from afar, you like the idea of them, of being with them, of getting to know them, you get all the butterflies when they look at you yadada but it's very surface level. there are no solid grounds to a crush apart from attraction.

but love, ideally, is something comfortable and safe, like coming home, a feeling you can never tire of. it's caring for someone for who they are, not who you want them to be. not for the idea you have of them in your mind. it's also all consuming like you should feel it everywhere, like a buzzing warmth in your being. it's to know someone, their flaws and all and to love them, not in spite of but because of them.

if i could compare the two, I'd say a crush is a fire that lights you up for a fleeting moment before fizzling out, while love is an ember that burn steadily from within, never running out of warmth

I have a co-worker of mine who is in love with someone who used to work here, and it's nothing like anything i've seen before. they are so different and there's some serious age gap there and they are not at all involved romantically but the way they exist together, like they are dancing or in orbit around the other and the rest of the world are just star far away that have no significance. It's so beautiful. Their love is so romantic and platonic and familiar and sure they are friends but they are also father and son and they are also married and it's all and nothing at the same time and I think Sherlock and John are like that too. It's obvious that they are in love and it's no incompatible with them being in love with other people, with John getting married with Mary or Sherlock being involved with Irene or Molly or whoever you'd like. The love they have for one another is unchangeable and impossible to move. It's there, beyond any marriage or relationship they get, beyond death. They are each others hope and life, and that's something that goes beyond a romantic relationship. It's much more than that.

y’all just— thinking about how excited Stanley must have been to host the twins— Alex says he smokes cigars but he doesn’t smoke once in the show— has a beer gut but he only drinks sodas in front of the kids— doesn’t swear when they’re around which must have taken INCREDIBLE effort— Stanley Pines, known crook, buying pancake mix at the supermarket and many bottles of syrup— learning to cook basic healthy meals and burning so many of them before he gets it right— buying new sheets, new mattresses— avoiding bunk beds because it reminds him of Ford— looking at the attic room he made wondering “is this enough will they like me”— trying to act aloof at the bus stop so he doesn’t betray the fact that he was there hours early— watching them goof around and thinking of New Jersey beaches— then the first night they’re there, he watches them debate running away and only stay because Mabel shook a magic 8 ball. That must have kept him awake all night.
