[Book Review] CHRISTIANITY ACCORDING TO ISLAMIC BELIEFS - Dr Waffie Mohammed
SCORE: 3.65/5.0
The book is structured and straightforward. Easy to navigate. Good for a general understanding of today’s concept of Christianity.
Tumblr media
“How can the blood and flesh of one man compensate for the sins committed by all humanity?” - page 80.
The writing on crucifixion is good. Jesus was “sacrificed to cleanse the believers' sins”. I mean, logically speaking, why would we want somebody we RESPECT, ADMIRE & LOVE to suffer for us? We should be responsible for our sins and seek God’s mercy instead, Allahu Rahim! I used to tear up when I read or see “performance” on Good Friday. Today I find that concept of atonement ridiculous.
I appreciate the author’s writings on the following topics:
- The Theories of Inspirations
- Atonement
- Who is Christ? (Paul’s contribution)
- Everything regarding today’s Doctrines.
Tumblr media
Good attempt, but the author has biased and weak arguments whenever he tries to “compare & convince” the audience.
He does know the basic concept of Christianity, and he compared it with his Islamic knowledge. But, that’s all. It is not convincing that the author is well-versed and eloquent in this interfaith study.
He may convince those so-called “conservative Muslims”, but not the agnostics and atheists. If he could just present Christianity concepts, and only countered them with Islamic statements, as he did in later parts of the book, is much better. Because of his initial “single-minded” statements, people might find him slightly unreliable afterwards. Especially for truth seekers that are on a spiritual journey and prefer to think critically.
Tumblr media
I personally believe that the Bible is a sort of hadith collection and not exactly words of God. Just like a hadith, it can be saheeh, it can be daif, it can be munkar! That is why the Bible contained a lot of contradictions. I am grateful for our Hafeez & Hafeezah, Ahli Tafsir & Ahli Hadith, barakallahu feekum!
Take the example on point #2 under the topic of ‘Contradiction in The Bible’. 👉In Matthew 1:18, Jesus is the child of the Holy Ghost. 👉In John 3:16, it is mentioned that Jesus is the Son of God.
Please bear with me, I want to address what I presume, causing the confusion in Christianity. Read Surah Maryam 19: 16 - 32. This portion of Surah Maryam told the event from how Maryam got pregnant till she gave birth to Jesus. To compare specifically, 👉In verse 17, where Allah SWT said, “… whereupon We sent her Our Spirit…”, The Spirit mentioned is Malaikat Jibreel.
Allah sent Jibreel to bear the news to Maryam that she was pregnant -- verse 19.
So, yeah. The Bible today is tampered with, a distortion of the truth.
Tumblr media
Dear Christian fellows, I recommend you read the translation of Surah Maryam with footnotes. I prefer the one from; The Interpretation of the Meanings of the Noble Quran in the English Language by Dr Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilli & Dr Muhammad Muhsin Khan. The abridged version of Tafhum al Quran published by The Islamic Foundation, is good too.

april 15 Deadline is 8 Nissan the day Nadab & Abihu judged.
This is a very important SHADOW. Day Eight means change, beginnings. Nadab and Abyhu died 8 Nisan. Did they leave the presence of God and come back later drunk? Are we drunk with the world and think we'll go back to God tomorrow? God is not mocked.
April 9, 2024 * 1 Nisan 5784 * April 15, 2024 8 Nisan God’s Hand of Strength Is In His Tabernacles – Is the Holy Spirit indwelling your tabernacle? (Exodus 40:2) The Israelites were exactly one year from leaving Egypt. As the second year began Aharon, the son of Levy, obeyed God’s instruction to Moses. Aharon had property set up The Tabernacle in the Wilderness. That Tabernacle had to be…

Not really in the DC fandom and I don't really read many comics but I've been seeing some videos and posts making headcanons about the Al-Ghul family being Muslim and it pisses me off so much.
This interpretation is deeply rooted in Islamophobia and the ignorant notion that every Arab is a Muslim and therefore a "terrorist". The Al-Ghuls are not and have never been Muslims and any parts of the religion found in their characters are likely due to the fact that Arab culture has a lot of aspects of Islam mixed into it and because again, people think that being Arab and being Muslim are the same thing and a lot of the comic writers are white Americans who commonly have this misconception about Arabs.
I'm not going to go into the specifics of everything because 1) I don't know all that much about canon and 2) this is a little hard to explain but I will give several examples that pretty much disprove that headcannon because The Al-Ghuls do things that are considered major sins in Islam on the daily.
Ra's runs an assassin league/cult and despite what many people think killing people is a major sin in Islam except in very specific scenarios where it may be excused like in self-defence or in war. And what the Al-Ghuls do? That isn't excusable in any way.
Ra's' name in and of itself is proof. His name means the Demon Head and I promise you a proper practicing Muslim would not call themself that or commit the atrocities he has on innocent people. I don't know if this is true but I saw on the wiki that apparently a character named Gerhardt asked him if he was a man or a fiend from hell and Ra's, said that he was both and neither and that he was "Ra's al-Ghul". A Muslim would not associate themself with Hell, a place where evildoers are punished in the afterlife.
Talia committed zina (fornication), yet another major sin, and wears extremely revealing clothing despite the fact that modesty is an integral part of the religion.
The Al-Ghuls drink wine, eat pork and apparently Damian was often fed ox blood soup as a child despite the fact that all these things are explicitly forbidden for Muslims to consume in verses of the Quran. (To clarify a bit, in case you're confused about the ox blood soup, Muslims are forbidden from consuming animal blood because it is considered filthy and harmful, much like pork and wine.)
Not to mention the whole thing about Ra's nearly being 500 years old and the Lazarus Pits apparently reviving him every time he dies... but that's a whole can of worms I don't know enough about to open
So yeah, the headcanon that the Al-Ghuls are Muslims perpetuates harmful stereotypes about Islam as a whole. There probably is more to be said about this topic but unfortunately, I haven't read many comics and have only watched a few of the DC animated movies so I can't say much more.
Feel free to correct me if I've said something incorrect or missed something important.

Imagine if Machete was Muslim instead of Catholic. His name would be something like Saif سيف, and Vasco would probably be something like Dhahabi ذَهَبِيّ

When you trust Allah SWT and take a step towards something you feel like is impossible, remember that Allah did not leave Prophet Musa A.S. in the middle of the sea when things felt impossible to him, He made him successfully cross it because of his unwavering tawakkal on Allah SWT. You and Prophet Musa A.S. have the same Rabb.

right ways to get mad at catholics: your institution and your practice of beliefs has irreperably harmed millions of people, end the lives of more, and brought struggle and strife to many cultures on a global scale
wrong ways to get mad at catholics: you believe in "sky daddy" so you are stupid as fuck

The Power of Effort Over Wishes: My Three Wishes to a Genie
Daily writing promptYou have three magic genie wishes, what are you asking for?View all responses If a genie offered me three wishes, my first instinct would be to reject them for myself. catholics I have a question
not to sound like a protestant but do all of you actually use rosaries? there is no shame in any act of prayer, and that's not where this is going! i'd been told that "cAtHoLiCs ArE eViL tHeY uSe IdOlS" and while i think other protestants hating on yall (we are so sorry about the southern baptists) is cringe, why would you pair the physical religious artifact of a crucifix -more often than not with a white Jesus on it- with something as spiritually connecting as prayer? when you look at it formulaically it kinda seems like an idol, but I find it ridiculously hard to believe that someone devout enough to use a rosary would use it in an idolatrous way or in a way disrespectful to the text. and the "catholics are idolators" seems like protestant propaganda anyway
how are you guys praying? if you believe in something we can't scientifically hypothesize about, especially if youre catholic but open to all religions, denominations, sub groups, beliefs, -gnostics how do you reach out to your concept and understanding of God?
tag as many religions as you want, be kind, remember you represent your religion, do to others as you would like them to treat you or get blocked. no cults please- this is strictly spiritual
