“I guess we’re all set.” Riley set the pen down, draping an arm over Astrid’s shoulders. “We could go get that deposit taken care of now. The sooner the better.”
“I definitely want to do that right away. The sooner we can be moved in here, the better.” Astrid leaned over to peck Riley’s cheek, “This is so exciting.”

The lady explained the process more and said they’d need to put down a deposit before anything was certain. “I can get that in by the end of the day. We’ll just have to run to the bank at some point.”
Astrid signed wherever she needed to as well, chewing on her lip as she read over bits and pieces of the contract. “Is there anything more that we need to do?”

Riley began to sign where he was supposed to. He also, like the nerd he is, called up his father so he could listen to the whole thing and make sure everything was running smoothly.
Astrid scrunched her nose at the quick kiss before sitting down in one of the chairs. She, too, listened intently to the agent, wanting to read over the contract to make sure they were getting the best possible deal for themselves.

“I love the way you think.” Riley pecked the tip of Astrid’s nose as the agent pulled up two chairs for them to sit and discuss their contract and all that sort of stuff. A nervous Riley wiped his palms on his jeans, listening intently.
Astrid giggled softly as he twirled her around, wrapping her arms around Riley’s waist once she was set down on the ground again. Leaning into him, she grinned at the mention of the dog. “Oooh, that’s perfect! Once we’re all settled, I’ll start doing some research into shelters we could adopt from. And the best kinds of small dogs for apartment living.”

“It does. It really does.” As he picked up Astrid to twirl her around, he shot a grin towards the realtor who began to pull out the proper papers and whatnot. “There’s an area with grass, too, for the little one you want...”
Astrid grinned up at Riley fondly, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I really can’t, either, Riley. Does this mean what I think it means?”

Riley placed his hands on Astrid’s cheeks now, staring down at his girlfriend fondly, “We aren’t ones for impulsive decisions, but this place, Astrid, this is ours. I can’t stand the thought of someone else taking it from out from under us.”
“Yeah, that would definitely be the smart thing to do. Maybe the next one we see will be just as perfect and then some more. But what if someone else buys this place while we’re still looking and we lose it forever? That’s a really scary thought.”

“It’d be the smart thing to do, to look at other places... Right?” Riley wasn’t a lazy dude, so he was up for always searching around for the best. But the thing was, this felt like the best. He placed his lips against her forehead, smiling and nodding in agreement, “It feels like a home.”
Astrid wrapped her arms around Riley’s waist, holding onto him tightly and nodding in agreement. “It really does feel like us. I think I could walk into every part of this apartment and see the two of us living so happily.”

Riley pulled her into an embrace, holding her close as he looked around the apartment. “I don’t know if it’s good to be true, but this feels like us.” He was too scared to lock in an answer right now, though, thinking that something might take this opportunity from them.
Astrid grinned up at Riley, pulling him into a hug. “It really couldn’t. This kitchen is perfect and this apartment is perfect and it probably shouldn’t be because it’s the first one we’re seeing, but I really love it. What do you think, moon?”

The realtor remarked that the furniture can come with if they pay a cheap fee. That was going to have to be something for Riley to take into consideration. But suddenly he didn’t care about any extra fee when he saw Astrid’s face when she took sight of the kitchen. The kitchen he’d always imagined them baking in together. Riley smiled fondly, heart eyes and all, “Not even a faulty faucet could ruin this kitchen.”
“I couldn’t possibly imagine any other furniture in this space. It looks so special.” Astrid glanced around, noticing every detail about the apartment that made it so perfect for them. When Riley pointed out the kitchen, she grinned excitedly and immediately made her way over. “Oh my god.” Running her hand across the granite counter top, she glanced over at Riley. “The drainage system must be a mess, right? Or the entire complex is getting bulldozed in a month or something. It’s not possible that this place could be the most perfect thing for us.”

“Does it come fully furnished?” Riley made sure to ask, admiring said couches by running his hands across the back of it. He nodded his head towards the kitchen, “That right over there.”
“I might just cry if that’s what’s wrong with the place. Then the next people who come to see the place will complain about tear stains on the nice, suede couches.” Astrid swung her and Riley’s hands back and forth as she glanced around the place, “What was the first thing you noticed?”

“They must not allow pets. That has to be it.” It was too good to be true, so sprinkling in some negativity seemed to be the way to go so they weren’t too let down when something small prevented them from having this place. “You know what I noticed first when I walked in here?”
“There has to be a catch, doesn’t there? There’s no way a place could feel this amazing, right? Rodent-infested bathroom, miniature closet, the possibilities are endless. But maybe optimism’s key here.”

“If this is the only the first one, there’s going to be a lot of competition.” Riley mused, eyes widening as he took in the sight. It seemed as if they couldn’t afford anything this grand, so the fact this was actually in their price range, he couldn’t be more excited.
Astrid held onto Riley’s hand and grinned excitedly as she walked inside the first apartment that the agent had set aside to show them. “Oooh, wow, this one is really pretty.”

“Maybe not buying necessarily, but a place... Our first place.” Riley kept the phone up to his ear as he talked to the realtor woman on the other end. He asked about a couple of listings and she scheduled appointment to go apartment hunting sometime this week in the afternoon.
Astrid grinned excitedly at Riley, pulling him into a tight hug, “I can’t believe we’re buying a home. It’s such a dream come true.”

“I promise I can do it, star, this is just a big step for us. A home. Seems insane to even think about becoming a reality.” Riley’s smile turned into a grin as he pressed the green phone on his cell to dial the number.
Astrid glanced up at him and nodded in agreement, running a hand gently through his hair, “I think so, yeah. Do you want me to call? Why are you feeling nervous, moon?”

“Yeah, she looks like she’s experienced, too.” Riley dialed the number into his cell, still playing with her hair with his other hand. “Should I give her a call now? I’m feeling kind of nervous.”
“Okay,” Astrid nodded and reached over to grab Riley’s phone, handing it over to him. Resting her head against his shoulder, she looked through the paper to try and find a phone number for them to call. “Is it this one or something else?”

“Sure, I’ll make the calls for us.” He kept an arm around her, playing with the ends of her hair, “Will you pass me my cell?”
“That’s all I’ll ever need in life, you know. Nothing more.” Astrid smiled at him fondly, pressing her lips to his cheek, “Do you think we should call an agent so we can see a couple of these places as soon as possible?”
