The newest episode of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur had me thinking

In the first episode, Casey reveals that she’s 13 years old to James Jr and Adria...

In "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow" it's implied that Lunella, Casey, and their classmates are in 8th grade. This would make them 13-14.

It's usually tradition that Jewish girls have their Bat Mitzvahs on their 12th birthdays (13th for the boys). But they can be postponed by the Bat/Bar Mitzvah kids or their parents. And with what we've seen so far, Casey's dads are big on the Bat Mitzvah traditions, but also want her to be happy.

And we know that before Lunella, Casey didn't have any friends.

Could Casey have had her Bat Mitzvah postponed until she made at least one friend?!

While Knocked Loose received a fair amount of praise for their first two albums, the band’s third long-player, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To — which dropped three weeks ago — has been receiving absolute raves: “Hardcore punk’s dark stars go supermasive,” says the Guardian. “The Kentucky metalcore quintet cleverly channel pop — and even reggaeton grooves — to create an album of crushing intensity and vast scope.” And last night the Bluegrass State five-piece cut loose at a sold-out Brooklyn Steel.

Knocked Loose: Upon Loss singles (2023)

Nothing, and I mean nothing, was more morbidly horrifying and sorrowful in 2021 that A Tear In The Fabric Of Life, the epic metalcore concept e.p. doubling as a stop-motion animated feature that became a stand-out release for themselves and the genre. They literally pushed their devastation to new limits that they had both their loyal fans and newcomers floored beyond amazement. 

So why stop there? Why not keep most of that momentum going without burning out? That’s the flag they’re placing on a (currently) stand-alone single hinting at a new full-length and it’s a two-parter. They’ve returned with an intensity between A Different Shade Of Blue (2019) and their previous outing. The first-half “Deep In The Willow” shows us that Knocked Loose are as unhinged and uncontrollable as they always were; going to war and relentlessly tearing it up complete with tempo changes and beatdowns. Bryon Garris never got over his endless panic mode that never failed to keep nerves in check. Then a rapid drum beat - as soon as it switches itself to “Everything Is Quiet Now” (it’s anything but), Knocked Loose becomes that fired-up tiger focused on gunning down its prey, catching it, slowly devouring it, and going along it’s day like it’s no problem. Guitar riffs wielded by Isaac Hale and Nick Calderon swing around furiously along with Kevin Otten’s basslines going full undertow while Kevin Kaine’s drumming goes right to the jaw. Goes to show they’re not done taking bodies and lives. Not by a longshot.

The difference between Arthur’s relationship with Eliza and Mary was that Mary was who he loved and Eliza was who he had a kid with.

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not like he hated Eliza or anything. They just so happened to be at the right place at the right time- she was a waitress and Arthur was just passing through. Eliza getting pregnant was likely something neither of them had expected. Yet, Arthur did the right thing by not completely abandoning them. Instead he visited as often as he could and gave Eliza money to help out. He also tried to do right for Isaac, showing the kid that he did have a father.

With Mary, it hints that they met when they were young and have been on and off ever since. She was the one who received a ring from Arthur. Despite their less than smooth relationship, they found their ways back to each other. And despite knowing that they’d never likely work considering who they were, they still longed.

I feel like this can also be shown when Arthur has his conversation with Sister Calderon when he says “I had a son” then “I had a girl who loved me, I threw that away.” I’m pretty sure that even though he mentions Isaac, that girl is Mary, not Eliza

I'm going to push back on this. I agree with some of what you said, but not everything. I have NEVER seen a person on tumblr say that Arthur isn't soft. In fact, outside of neutrality, most of the fandom ignores his imperfections in order to make him a perfect character. It unfortunately makes his character more 2D. I've written several posts and reblogged a few people mentioning how quite a few - not all- of tumblr has changed Arthur fundamentally in order to fit their fantasies. Depending on how you play the game, Hosea actually mentions that Arthur is soft under the "dumb brute act". He is not the only one who say that. Abigail, Karen, Tilly, Lenny, Charles and Mary-Beth all CAN say it. However, that's not a guarantee and I'll explain why in a second. For the Rev. What else was Arthur supposed to do? Arthur is awesome for saving him, yes, but that was also his JOB to do so. It was a combination of both. Him saving the Rev was being a decent person, but that doesn't mean he was soft to do so. Good does not always equal soft. For Isaac and Eliza - Arthur did the BARE minimum. He gave money and visited a few times a year. Per his own words. That makes him better than John, but that doesn't make him father of the year. He was too busy being an outlaw to actually do the right thing. Arthur is not immediately soft and polite to everyone. The player MAKES Arthur do those things. Look at what the girls say in Valentine on both the way to Valentine and how they are concerned with how he deals with Jimmy Brooks. (I THINK that's the name of the guy he roughs up). Was Arthur so soft and good when he he manhandled and harmed Mr. Geddes? Was he so good all the times he beat up and intimated people as the enforcer? No. That's why there's a redemption arc. Debt Collector Arthur is less awful than Micah and Bill, but the player CHOOSES that. Additionally, if you go by what the gang says, he IS that intimidating and is chosen for that for a reason. Your comments about Sister calderon,, Charlotte and everyone else you mentioned is because the PLAYER has Arthur do so. Arthur can do the polar opposite. Arthur is good and softer because that's what you chose. Same with Mickey. Arthur DOES treat some of these people with respect automatically like Rain Falls, but he does NOT automatically step in to help many of the characters or anything similar to everyone unless he is told to. Additionally, there is PLENTY of evidence that proves Arthur can be to the contrary. I have all of the audio files to prove this. If Arthur drinks, the gang can get upset and talk about how he "nasty he gets when he's like this". or "You're doing this again, huh?" Dutch and Hosea both talk to him about his drinking. The player is the one to make him do so, but that doesn't change the gang's comments about how Arthur was and can be. There are plenty of audio files where Hosea, Dutch and Miss Grimshaw can talk about how disappointed they are by his behavior. Additionally, if he does anything low honor or antagonizes the gang, there are plenty of instances that I've posted where the gang talks about how he's always been able to be a bully and nasty. The gang members can even cry. Yes, the player makes him do so, but if he wasn't capable of speaking this way, why would the gang comment on how he has a history of doing so? So personally, I respectfully disagree with some of this while I agree with other bits. For half of what can be said - and same to me - it is based on what the player has him do. Not what he automatically does.

"whenever we happen to meet, you're always helping people and smiling..."

ok brain dump time. rdr2 discussions that frame arthur as being this ice-cold intimidator until chapter 4/6/whatever fascinate me because ok, yes, a major focus of his narrative is his imperfections (can't be red dead redemption if he has nothing to seek redemption from), but if he had no softness in him then who taught jamie to ride a horse? who gave mary that ring? who made time for isaac and tried to "do right" by him and his mom when he was still just a young man himself? who wrote his most vulnerable journal entries? who was so known for spending time with little jack that it pissed john off? who confessed to loving hosea more than dutch, because he was more "like a human being"? who risked his life saving the reverend from the train tracks (after defending him against the men mocking his addiction, no less)? whose first instinct, when he's alone and away from his usual influences, is to be kind and polite and helpful to damn near every stranger he meets???

arthur still has to (and does, as well as he knows how) take responsibility for the worst of his actions, and the realization of this accelerates toward the end of his story, but it's still true that he was raised to believe that his role in life -- the role that made him useful to his family, the role that he deserved, the role that helped him survive -- was to be the big, mean: enforcer ("i thought you wanted me here to show some strong-arm? that's usually how this goes") debt-collector ("they lacked your...vigor") sharpshooter ("we ain't getting shot because you'll be protecting us") right-hand to his self-professed 'fathers' in their crimes and cons ("you have turned into my son, you worry because i worry")

that role and that way of life served him well. it kept him alive, it even gave him moments and people he remembers so fondly even as it all falls apart ("face me to the west so i can remember all the fine times we had"). it became a part of him, but it was never all of him.

arthur doesn't suddenly decide to have a heart when dutch starts to go off the rails, or when he commits to wanting a better life for the marstons, or when he meets a few likable strangers -- he just realizes that his heart isn't a weakness and that he doesn't have to hide it beneath his exterior to be accepted, or to be able to go on. charles, sadie, rains fall, penelope & beau, sister calderon, charlotte, the veteran -- a lot of people he meets within the narrative have an impact on this change in his shell, but there was always something softer underneath. he had doubts about his actions and about dutch and their way of life before the start of the story as we know it (which we see in his journal). he's not a wicked man turned saint, he's a complicated man turned even more complicated
