Wind’s plastic sword tapped against his leg as he slipped up to the door. He eagerly knocked, then waited until the door opened to yell, “Trick or Treat!” He heard Time and Warriors echo it behind him, although much less enthusiastically.

The old woman who opened the door cooed at them with a hand on her chest. “Oh, what a lovely little family!”

Warriors sighed. This was the fifth time tonight they’d heard that.

“We’re not-“ Time began, but just like the other times Wind cut him off.

“Thank you!” Wind said as he grabbed a full size Twix bar out of the bucket.

“Have a good evening, little pirate!” The woman said as she closed the door.

As soon as it clicked shut, Wind burst into laughter. Time’s ears flattened against his head as they went bright red. Warriors chuckled and gave him a heart pat on the back.

“You wish you could do as well as me,” Warriors said.

“We’re brothers,” Time bemoaned.

“It’s just because of the costume,” Warriors continued. “Otherwise they’d all know I’m WAY out of your league.”

Time buried his face in his hand and grumbled in embarrassment.

“At least she doesn’t think you’re predators,” Wind said between giggles.

“And that’s exactly why we’re with you.” Warriors lunged and captured Wind in a headlock. He screeched as Warriors dislodged the bandana and ruffled his hair, but he didn’t dare drop his candy bag to escape. The fabric of Warriors’ dress scratched against his cheek as Wind writhed away from him.

“The Corpse Bride is trying to kill me!” Wind screeched.
