ISRAELI OCCUPATION BOMBS FOREIGN AID WORKERS, CONTINUES BOMBING ACROSS GAZA ON DAY 179 OF GENOCIDE

On the 179th day of "Israel's" ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 7 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 71 Palestinians, mostly women and children, while another 102 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.

In the latest occupation atrocity, the Zionist army bombed the vehicle of a group of Foreign aid personnel working for the World Central Kitchen (WCK), killing 7 employees, including 6 foreigners.

"World Central Kitchen is devastated to confirm seven members of our team have been killed in an IDF strike in Gaza," the organization said in a statement on its website.

According to the World Central Kitchen, despite coordinating the organization's movements with the Israeli occupation army, a convoy including two armored cars branded with the WCK logo and one soft-skin vehicle that were carrying the WCK team while it was traveling through a "deconflicted zone" was struck by an Israeli bomb, destroying at least one of the vehicles.

WCK says the team was leaving their Deir al-Balah warehouse, in the central Gaza Strip, where their teams unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza through a maritime route, when the convoy was targeted by Zionist forces.

“This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable,” World Central Kitchen CEO, Erin Gore is quoted as saying.

The seven foreign aid workers killed in the Zionist strike included citizens from Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, as well as a dual-citizen of the United States and Canada, and one Palestinian.

“I am heartbroken and appalled that we—World Central Kitchen and the world—lost beautiful lives today because of a targeted attack by the IDF. The love they had for feeding people, the determination they embodied to show that humanity rises above all, and the impact they made in countless lives will forever be remembered and cherished,” Erin Gore added.

In response to the International outcry over the atrocity, the Israeli occupation authorities said they will be “carrying out an in-depth examination at the highest levels to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.”

The World Central Kitchen has suspended its operations in Gaza as a result of the incident.

In yet another atrocity yesterday, the Israeli occupation army bombed the Iranian consulate building in the Syrian capital of Damascus, killing several high-level Iranian officials, including 7 military advisors of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

In response to the strike, Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in an announcement issued on Tuesday that the "evil Zionist regime will regret" it's crime of assasinating Iran's military advisors in Syria.

The Iranian leader said that both Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, and his deputy, General Mohammed Hadi Haji Rahimi were killed in the strike, which targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus, declaring the crime was perpetrated by the "usurping and dispicable" Zionist regime.

“The evil regime will be punished by our brave men. We will make them regret this crime and other ones, by God's will," the Iranian leader added.

As Israel's crimes spread outside the occupied Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip, and into the wider West Asian region, the bombing inside Palestine continued unabated.

In just one example, local civil defense crews recovered the bodies of six Palestinians who were killed, including two children, along with a number of wounded civilians, following a Zionist occupation airstrike targeting the Zarub family home, located in the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

In another atrocity, several Palestinians were killed and a large number wounded after occupation artillery shelling targeted a number of residential buildings in the city of Khan Yunis, also in the south of Gaza, focusing artillery fire on the eastern and central parts of the city.

Meanwhile, Zionist warplanes bombed the al-Bashir Mosque, in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, martyring a several civilians, including the death of at least one child, and wounding at least 20 others, while also dealing significant damage to neighboring residential buildings.

Similarly, Zionist fighter jets fired several missiles that slammed into two residential homes in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, while occupation artillery shelling targeted the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, along with the Sheikh Ajlin neighborhood, martyring three civilians and wounding six others.

Over the last day, as the Zionist occupation army withdrew from the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, located in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, which had been the largest and most well-equipped hospital in the entire Gaza Strip, a scene of mass destruction and carnage was revealed, with hundreds of bodies littering the hospital grounds, including some bodies discovered with handcuffed wrists, having been extra-judicially executed in cold-blood.

Among the bodies recovered from Al-Shifa were doctors and healthcare personnel, along with entire Palestinian families, which the Gaza Media Office says were just a small part of the roughly 400 citizens that were killed in two weeks of fighting near the hospital.

About another 900 Palestinians were arrested or detained by Zionist forces under suspicion of belonging to Resistance groups, while the Hospital buildings themselves were nearly completely destroyed, blown to pieces and left as scorched shells by the American bombs dropped on them by the Israeli occupation army.

As a result of "Israel's" ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the infinitely rising death toll has now exceeded 32'916 Palestinians killed, more than 25'000 of which being among women and children, while an additional 75'494 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression beginning on October 7th, 2023.

it’s New Year and it's my first post with this new blog. it feels perfect to begin my blog with a movie review of Happy New Year. the title suits the occasion, doesn’t it? but don’t expect a soppy or melancholic story here. this Bollywood movie is wild, loud, and utterly chaotic. it’s a diamond heist movie wrapped in humour, and honestly, it’s just as absurd as it is entertaining. from the very start, I feel this movie is not meant to be taken seriously. it’s full of scenes that make no sense and often defy physics. I'm so used to Indian movies, so I just know that this is typical. but that’s what makes it enjoyable! the ridiculousness keeps me entertained throughout. I love how this film embraces its silliness without trying to pretend it’s anything deeper. what really keeps my focus is the chaos. the jokes are loud and familiar for Asians. they may not land as well with Western audiences, but I think that’s the charm. it’s like a peek into different world and humour, something to celebrate rather than criticise. isn’t that the beauty of movies from different cultures?

this movie gives me no chance to feel bored, despite its lengthy duration. every scene is over the top in a way that makes me giggle, or at least chuckle. I appreciate how the director, Farah Khan, doesn’t attempt to make the story serious, which is her trademark. by keeping it light, the movie maintains its fun vibe throughout. even though it’s far from Bollywood’s best work, I enjoy it a lot. it’s pure entertainment. if I have one complaint, it’s Abhishek Bachchan. I’ve never been a fan of his acting, and even here, he doesn’t impress me. it’s hard to live up to his legendary father, Amitabh Bachchan; or his talented wife, Aishwarya Rai. but overall, he doesn’t ruin the movie. the rest of the cast makes up for it, with their quirky performances and comedic timing. in conclusion, Happy New Year is not perfect, but it’s good fun. it’s a chaotic, silly movie that’s perfect for celebrating the New Year with a laugh. if you’re looking for deep storytelling, skip this one. but if you want lighthearted entertainment, it’s worth a watch.

He has understood his limitations and evolved a game which backs his strengths. That’s his USP. His self-realisation and ability to work out his comfort zone. He isn’t a Kohli. Or a Rohit. Or even a KL Rahul. And yet, he is effective and been so in his short career. Things haven’t come easy for Sarfaraz. They still don’t. He still had to sit out after scoring a double-hundred in the Irani Cup. Even in this match, he wouldn’t have played had Shubman Gill been fit. It’s hard to sit out when you are scoring big, and yet Sarfaraz did not let it get to him. He bided his time, and the moment he got an opportunity, he made it count. Was wondering what you think about Sanaya/Barun as actors and their progression throughout the show?

I think it took some time for them to grow into their roles but they’re both brilliant actors who put the best of their craft into Khushi and Arnav. I enjoy Sobti’s craft more than Irani’s, but I also seek out more of Sobti’s work so there’s an inherent bias in my viewing habits.

And do you know why Barun has a slight American accent when speaking English

Before turning to acting, Sobti worked as a manager in a call center. Presumably it comes from there. Having said that, outside of rural and not-so-affluent areas, education in India is often conducted in English. The accent one ends up with depends greatly on one’s educators.

Also I’m not familiar with the tv industry in India.. like are they popular or still relevant there? Is there any drama that came up about them?

I don’t understand the question. Please note that I can’t infer meaning from your words. I know this made sense to you when you sent it in but it really doesn’t make sense to me.

Are you asking if daily soaps are still popular in India? If so, then yes, they are, although most production companies and channels are also branching out into finite, web-based shows in an effort to (slowly!) move away from the ratings-based daily stuff.

Or are you asking whether Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani are still popular? If so, then yes they are, but they’re generally in the happy place of picking the projects they want. You might be interested in this post :)

... years keep passing by and the years of releases keep springing up .. and that limitless documenter of the events .. Moses keeps throwing up some of the rarest of pictures .. some that have never been seen before .. how he does it is a mystery which hopefully someday we shall ask him to disclose ..

.. its 42 years of DON .. Produced by Nariman Irani , the ace DOP of the times, venturing into Production, and Salim-Javed obliging him by writing the film for his benefit .. Directed by Chandra Barot, who was AD to Manoj Kumar ji in the film which had Jaya with Manoj ji .. the friendship grew and has remained close .. he directed the film his first .. 

Nariman Bawa as we all affectionately called him a most humble, kindest person you would ever meet .. tragically passed away through a freak accident, and was not alive to see the release of the film .. 

.. while he was shooting for a film Nariman Bawa,  suddenly noticed, that the set where they were working was about to crumble and fall .. a young child was playing around it .. Nariman fearing the kid would get crushed, ran , jumped on the kid and saved him , but in doing so he injured himself, as he fell .. and never came out of the complications that arose after that .. it was such a sad moment .. God’s own man .. simple, uncomplicated , soft spoken and a master in his craft .. just could not live to see the end of the film DON .. 

.. and Jaya and I at the award ceremony ..

.. when the Filmfare award was announced for me as Best Actor, I dedicated the award to his wife .. and called her up on stage .. she was very reluctant but persuaded by several came up .. those days the award used to be announced months before .. would be held at Shanmukhanand Hall .. and the surprise moment would be who would come to give the award .. since the winner was already known ..

.. after doing the other character  shooting at Mehboob studios lawns , I was shooting for another film in Srinagar Kashmir and remember getting a telegram of praise from Salim-Javed, after they had seen the rushes of the pan chewing scene of the duplicate character .. 

.. and the song ‘khaike paan..’ an after thought .. Chandra showed the film to Manoj ji after the shoot was over and he suggested that there should be a song in the second half .. thats how this moment was created .. .. 

.. those days we worked in 2-3 shifts per day on different films .. I was shooting in the morning shift 7am-2pm at China creek .. an outdoor location some miles our of the city .. it was an action sequence .. had injured my feet .. blisters all around .. and came to Mehboob Studios from China Creek to shoot this number .. had to dance bare feet .. blisters were impossible to walk on .. so what .. called the doc .. took anaesthesia injections in the feet and worked the 4-5 days that took to shoot it ..

.. there is a dance move in the song where the steps are me moving sideways .. thats a copy of Abhishek .. as a little fellow whenever he heard music he would dance and do this side step .. I copied that from him for the song .. there is another shot of me dancing and I turn around , show my back and keep moving my hips and look back .. that has a story too .. but of that some other time ..

.. years later of course at a concert overseas .. Abhishek would do a take off of the song on stage .. 

.. the bell bottoms of the time could accommodate a housing colony   !

.. when Chandra and Salim-Javed announced the name of the film as DON .. no distributor was willing to accept the title .. they all thought it to be named after the DAWN underwear .. a popular brand during those times ..  the film Godfather was just making a mark in film circles .. the word Don was unknown till then .. 

BUT what a life the film has had and its music .. quite remarkable

Javed saheb sent me an sms this morning .. 

“ huzoor 42 saal ho gaye DON ko .. hadd ho gayee ..” 

‘हुज़ूर ४२ साल हो गए DON को , हद हो गयी  !!!

that scene of me coming to meet the opposite gang with the briefcase containing the money, throwing it to them and it explodes was shot in the wild terrain of what now is an entire City .. the whole habitat as you turn off the highway to go to Film City .. that is what it was before .. that scene was shot there ..  Mumbai grows ..
