“FINALLY, FINALLY news dropped last Monday – about the hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep – that I wrote an episode on the upcoming series of Doctor Who! Guys, I’ve been watching this show since I was 10 yrs old in Nigeria – for 30 years! Getting to write an ep was a dreams, no, was several of my wildest fantasies come true! There is so much MORE I wish I could tell you right now, but I’ve signed NDAs so vast, they blanket the universe and exist in the past, present and future. I have to stay schtum. The new series drops in April and May. Until then you’ll just have to enjoy this picture of your boy in the TARDIS.”

From the BBC Mediacentre:
"Juno Dawson is a #1 Sunday Times best-selling novelist, screenwriter and journalist, whose books include the global bestsellers, This Book is Gay and Her Majesty’s Royal Coven. Her debut short film was The Birth of Venus and she created the first official Doctor Who scripted podcast, Doctor Who: Redacted.
Juno says: “I started watching Doctor Who with my grandma when I was ten-years-old in the 1990s. From writing fan-fiction for an audience of one, to scripting the best TV show of all time is truly a dream come true. I can't wait for fans and newcomers to see the new season.”
Inua Ellams is a writer and curator, whose published books of poetry include Candy Coated Unicorns & Converse All Stars and The Actual. His first play, The 14th Tale, was awarded a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival, and other plays include Barber Shop Chronicles, which played at the National Theatre, Three Sisters and The Half-God of Rainfall.
Inua says: “For as long as I can remember television, I've been a Doctor Who fan. I started watching when I was 10 in Nigeria. The show invited me to dream, to live beyond my reality. Getting to write for the show felt like touching God; it was blasphemously humbling and exciting, and I can’t wait to share my story with the world.”
Pete McTighe is a writer and Executive Producer on the forthcoming spin-off The War Between The Land And The Sea. He has created, written or Exec'd dramas including The Pact (BBC), The Rising (Sky), A Discovery Of Witches (HBO), and Wentworth (Fox).
Pete says: “The TARDIS is my home away from home, so it's been a joy to step back inside, with Russell at the console and the incredible team at Bad Wolf hanging on for dear life. I love this show with all my heart, and am really proud of what we've been able to achieve with my next episode.”
Sharma Angel-Walfall originally hails from Manchester and won the inaugural Channel 4 New Writing Award that set her off on her screenwriting journey. She has been in a number of writers’ rooms, including Rapman’s Supacell (Netflix), Sally Wainwright's The Ballad of Renegade Nell (Disney+), A Town Called Malice (Sky) and Noughts & Crosses (BBC). She was a writing consultant on Paul Abbott’s Wolfe (Sky) and wrote an episode of Sharon Hogan’s Dreamland for Sky (starring Lilly Allen and Freema Agyeman).
Sharma says: “I am buzzing to be a part of such an iconic show! I am a massive Russell T Davies fan, so it is a dream come true to be able to work alongside him, especially on a show that I love. It’s a real privilege to be a part of the Doctor Who family. I have loved every minute!”
Russell T Davies, Showrunner says: “Doctor Who takes its talent from a glittering galaxy of names, and these extraordinary writers span the skies. We’ve got old hands, new stars, voices from theatre, radio and literature, the whole works! It’s the most wild and exciting season of Doctor Who yet, and I can’t wait to unleash their brilliant work.”
Good to see some more varied voices on the show again.

Based on the latest trailer this is how I think S15/2 will breakdown.
Tumblr media
Episode 1: The Doctor meets Belinda, likely after she is abducted, on another planet, the one we see with city being attacked that probably isn't Skaro or Gallifrey.
Tumblr media
Episode 2: 50s set adventure with Mr Ring-a-Ding.
Tumblr media
Episode 3: Think this'll be the one where they're in the space suits. Can see this being Pete McTighe's episode.
Tumblr media
Episode 4: Guessing this might be another Doctor-lite Ruby showcase where she works with UNIT and gets a boyfriend.
Tumblr media
Episode 5: Gonna call this the Anansi episode, probably the one written by Inua Ellams.
Tumblr media
Episode 6: Space Eurovision by Juno Dawson
Tumblr media
Episode 7 & 8: The two-part finale with all the reality warping with Mel and the Doctor in the bowler.

things i read in march 🌧️ not a great month for the most part... started a few different books, hopefully i'll finish them in april. i did read more than february, so i'm happy :-)
poetry/plays
barber shop chronicles, inua ellams - absolutely wonderful play. sharp, witty, dynamic. i regret that i can't find anywhere to watch it online because the trailer i saw looks even better than the script (which makes sense: it is a play)
mother, nuala ní dhomhnaill, trans. eiléan ní chuilleanáin - unfortunately the only copy of this poem i could find comes from the raised by narcissists subreddit 😭 had to read this one for class, don't think it was particularly great but i think that might be because i read a translated version & the author has some pretty interesting views on that anyway
the mermaid, nuala ní dhomhnaill, trans. eiléan ní chuilleanáin
the cow's death, liam ó flaithearta
the touch, liam ó flaithearta - neither this nor the previous struck me as especially special, but i did enjoy touch more
short fiction
on exactitude in science, jorge luis borges, trans. andrew hurley - really really interesting, stylistically and philosophically… it's only a singular paragraph (145 words) long so i'd love if you guys gave me your thoughts on it ^_^
the v*mpire, p h lee - a bit heavy-handed but it captures its setting perfectly
books
the collected schizophrenias, esmé weijun wang - have a few criticisms for this one. some essays were good but most of them struck me as pointless and meandering, and not in an interesting way; the author herself feels, as one review put it, "braggadocious" in her approach. ricochets between clinical and personal without being personal. doesn't work well as a collection either (imo). again, broadly interesting, but nothing great.
letters to a young poet, rainer maria rilke - feel like this got way too hyped up in my head (IK this is on me and not the text) so i felt a teensy bit let-down... i think most of what is in this collection i already think about and write about and so that is why it didn't strike a chord with me as strongly as it has so many other writers. definitely worth the read, though, those are just my thoughts
love bullet, inee - been meaning to read this one for a while... the art style is really neat and i thought the story was fun. excited to see where it goes!
we had to remove this post, hanna bervoets, trans. emma rault - was genuinely a bit shocked to see how low this book was rated, and then i saw a lot of those comments mentioned tiktok and everything slid into place. don't go into this expecting some shocking, gory horror story, because it's not that, and you're told as much in the first few places — this is a case study of the human brain in a certain environment, and i think it does a really great job of it. i liked this book a lot — plus, it's really well written/translated!

Actor Sophie Turner, poet and playwright Inua Ellams and physicist and professor Brian Cox, will be on 'Cards On The Table' hosted by Stanley Tucci Episode 02: Dreams, Poetry & Betterment.
Episode 02: Dreams, Poetry, & Betterment When’s the last time you let yourself be vulnerable? Stanley invites an actor, a playwright, and a physicist to join him for dinner. They tackle ideas much bigger than themselves: society, art, dreams, and the knowable universe.
Episode 02 drops March 11 on Rolling Stone’s YouTube channel and will also run across Allbirds’ site and social channels.

Writers confirm for DW s41/s15/s2:
-Juno Dawson
-Inua Ellams
-Pete McTighe
-Sharma Angel-Walfall
While Juno Dawson has technically already written for Doctor Who, it will be her first time writing an episode of the main show.
Inua Ellams is a renowned poet and playwright, as far as I know it will be his first work for tv.
Sharma Angel-Walfall has been writing for tv since 2017, starting with an episode of Hollyoaks. Most recently she has been working on the show Dreamland.
I don't think I need to present Pete McTighe anymore but in case people need a reminder, he is a returning writer. He previously worked on Tales of the Tardis as well as having writing Kerblam and co-writen Praxeus.
This is really nice to see new faces being added to the list of doctor who writers! I can't wait to see what their stories will be.
