From the BBC Mediacentre:
"Juno Dawson is a #1 Sunday Times best-selling novelist, screenwriter and journalist, whose books include the global bestsellers, This Book is Gay and Her Majesty’s Royal Coven. Her debut short film was The Birth of Venus and she created the first official Doctor Who scripted podcast, Doctor Who: Redacted.
Juno says: “I started watching Doctor Who with my grandma when I was ten-years-old in the 1990s. From writing fan-fiction for an audience of one, to scripting the best TV show of all time is truly a dream come true. I can't wait for fans and newcomers to see the new season.”
Inua Ellams is a writer and curator, whose published books of poetry include Candy Coated Unicorns & Converse All Stars and The Actual. His first play, The 14th Tale, was awarded a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival, and other plays include Barber Shop Chronicles, which played at the National Theatre, Three Sisters and The Half-God of Rainfall.
Inua says: “For as long as I can remember television, I've been a Doctor Who fan. I started watching when I was 10 in Nigeria. The show invited me to dream, to live beyond my reality. Getting to write for the show felt like touching God; it was blasphemously humbling and exciting, and I can’t wait to share my story with the world.”
Pete McTighe is a writer and Executive Producer on the forthcoming spin-off The War Between The Land And The Sea. He has created, written or Exec'd dramas including The Pact (BBC), The Rising (Sky), A Discovery Of Witches (HBO), and Wentworth (Fox).
Pete says: “The TARDIS is my home away from home, so it's been a joy to step back inside, with Russell at the console and the incredible team at Bad Wolf hanging on for dear life. I love this show with all my heart, and am really proud of what we've been able to achieve with my next episode.”
Sharma Angel-Walfall originally hails from Manchester and won the inaugural Channel 4 New Writing Award that set her off on her screenwriting journey. She has been in a number of writers’ rooms, including Rapman’s Supacell (Netflix), Sally Wainwright's The Ballad of Renegade Nell (Disney+), A Town Called Malice (Sky) and Noughts & Crosses (BBC). She was a writing consultant on Paul Abbott’s Wolfe (Sky) and wrote an episode of Sharon Hogan’s Dreamland for Sky (starring Lilly Allen and Freema Agyeman).
Sharma says: “I am buzzing to be a part of such an iconic show! I am a massive Russell T Davies fan, so it is a dream come true to be able to work alongside him, especially on a show that I love. It’s a real privilege to be a part of the Doctor Who family. I have loved every minute!”
Russell T Davies, Showrunner says: “Doctor Who takes its talent from a glittering galaxy of names, and these extraordinary writers span the skies. We’ve got old hands, new stars, voices from theatre, radio and literature, the whole works! It’s the most wild and exciting season of Doctor Who yet, and I can’t wait to unleash their brilliant work.”
Good to see some more varied voices on the show again.

Russel T Davies? Hey Russel? Look at me man. I reeeeallly hyped you up last year, OK? I really hyped you up. I said to everyone, man, I said, Russel would never let us down. I said, guys, you saw the 14th Doctor specials, right? The DoctorDonna? You saw how great that was, right? And you remember my friends, Series 1, 2, 3, and 4? You, you remember Rose? Donna? Martha? Jack? Russel, I was saying all this. I was saying to them, guys… guys, this is the guy what wrote Journeys End. The fella who cranked out Parting of the Ways. This the guy did all that. Russel, man, I said all that. And Russ, man, these new episodes started coming out, and don’t get me wrong. They was good…. They was good, I liked ‘em. But, but, Russ. We were noticing some issues. Plot inconsistencies, fourth wall breaks, blandish characters, the like. And we was putting these pieces together — because Russ, we know you, man, we remember Bad Wolf, of course we remember man — we was putting this all together and we was saying, TV. TV, Surely. I mean, The Beatles? Bridgerton? Fucking Dot and Bubble? Susan? TV. And then, man, well, Russ, listen. I had normies aint never give a fuck about your show a day in their life who I told all this too who were convinced I was right. My fucking dad, Russ, my own father, he says to me, this RTD fella, you’re really right about him, something bigs coming in this finale, we’re gonna find out Ruby’s fake, she’s a character made for the Doctor… and then, Russ. Well. Russ we saw what happened man. And the truth is you dropped the ball. So, so listen. Aint no one… ain’t no one gonna be mad no more, pal, if you just, you just do what you need to do this year, okay? Cuz we invested a lot in you. I’ll be real, your stocks are down on Tumblr. Man, they like Moffat more than you on Tumblr again now man, this is bad. Real bad. Tumblrs real mad. Man, come on. Pull through. A little retconning never hurt no one, did it? Didn’t hurt Gwen did it? Well — ok, ok. Yeah retcon kind of did hurt Gwen didn’t it. Got her into Torchwood. But — listen. Russel. Me and my moots, we got a lot invested in this. Emotional capital, financial, physical, tumblr. I made a lotta Tumblr posts aged real poorly but maybe — hey — a little, haha, lets say, a little help from my buddy Russ and those posts might become 10,000 note-rs, right pal? Hey. Hey. Man I don’t know what season 2’s gonna look like but listen, if it don’t look how you and I both know it needs to be, why don’t you go and get your ass to work on season 3, huh?

if the conclusion to russell’s ‘pantheon arc’ will be that the doctor eventually gets named the ‘god of life’, i’ll be so disappointed. that’d feel so cheap and underdeveloped, and factually inaccurate since he’s more linked to death and endings than anything. if he has to be the ‘god of’ some conceptual domain (i dislike that phrasing anyhow, it’s simplistic, but that’s just a personal pet peeve), it should be either of the following:
god of change (central theme of the show)
god of hope (my personal favourite contender)
god of stories (lol, yeah, I KNOW. it works, ok?)

This is such a funny way to word it. Like the writers are some kind of creature in the Marianas Trench
(It wasn't officially announced but the writing credit was added to her agency listing which is why they put it that way. It's still a funny headline.)

If you think about it, The Devil's Chord is just a really subtle fanfiction of the song American Pie.

THINGS DOCTOR WHO SHOULD DO
PART 1
__________________________________________Trapped in a real-live Panopticon!!
Meeting Florence Nightingale because the doctor would f*** with that badass
Museums/Exhibitions of Earth on other planets!
An enemy in your reflection—an alien exists only in reflections. It doesn’t know what it looks like, so it is obsessed with looking into other people’s eyes to see itself reflected back. It just wants to know who it is…
Horror in Russian Nesting Dolls (An extra dimension inside of them. Bonus points if it's set in the Catherinian era. Triple points if the Doctor has to "open up" to his companion by the end, lol)
“Where did all the pigeons go? Why aren’t there pigeons? There used to be pigeons!”
Or
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY F***ING EARTH PIGEONS IN THE MIDDLE OF SPACE!?”
A companion travels to their own timeline to stop the Doctor from making a series of small mistakes he made while traveling with them. They can speak with the Doctor, of course, but when doing so, they must always make him believe they are the past version of themselves. Maybe, when traveling all the way back to the beginning, the must pretend they don't know him at all...oh, how painful that would be.
Plague Doctors in Space!
Night Doctors in Space! (Maybe the Florence nightingale episode?)
The doctor is stuck with a Cyberman for an episode and uses the opportunity to understand it…and it’s sad. Kind of like ‘Dalek’ but for a cyberman
ACTUAL consequences of the butterfly effect and seeing the future changed in different ways
PART 2 UP SOON? if my adhd allows
