That’s a really good point about the time rift! And yeah, he could have mentioned it offscreen, but that’s usually something that’s very clearly shown.

Ruby’s story did stop so abruptly and weirdly. I really hope that when they bring her back, they explain what all of that was about.

Just watched the Robot Revolution.

At the end of the episode Belinda says, “I saw that box in space! Is that your TARDIS?”

How does Belinda know what a TARDIS is?

Up until this point, the Doctor has not mentioned that it is called a TARDIS. He refers to it once, calling it his spaceship.

Also, a minute or so later, when she fully enters the TARDIS, she says “Now get me home. 24th of May 2025, my shift starts at 7:30am.”

Which is a very odd phrasing if you do not know that you’re in a Time Machine.

Which Belinda doesn’t, considering that she is surprised a few seconds later when the Doctor tells her she’s in a Time Machine.

My theory? Something is wrong with Belinda’s timeline, maybe some sort of time fracturing mess like we saw with Clara or maybe she has met the doctor before but he has wiped her memory (except it’s in his future so he doesn’t know it)

It’s almost like Belinda subconsciously recognizes the Doctor and is remembering things without realizing it.

The Doctor, eager to solve a mystery surrounding a woman he meets, but suddenly remembers how he was called out for doing it with Clara and treating her not as a human being but an abstract puzzle for his entertainment, and had to learn not to treat her like shit: I know, I'll just tell her about the mystery this time, that'll do it 😇

The Doctors win rate this series has been shoddy at best.

All three of his enemies so far have ended up getting what they wanted in the end.

The incel guy wanted to die.

Lux got the light he wanted and more.

And most recently the Midnight entity who was able to trick the Doctor and escape.

I don't have a problem with any of this btw, it's just a pattern I noticed, and I guess it only really hit me with the recent episode since it was a pretty definitive L for the Doctor.

Might just be a coincidence, but it might not.

imagine discovering that you are futurehistorically predetermined to have children at some point otherwise the doctor would never have gone to meet you in the first place so you wouldn’t have been saved. that is some kind of existential horror for a woman, especially one that has struggled with heteronormative expectations her whole life (the marriage proposal thing). poor belinda

Another subtle manipulation by the Doctor toward Belinda (and us) -- immediately calling her Bel. A nickname meant to make him feel closer to her than he actually is. Meant to make them feel connected. And I fell for it at first! I got distracted by the fact that it is an undeniably cute nickname! But in an episode where this woman's full name is used so prominently in a way she doesn't want, and she clarifies several times how she wants to be called - drop the Miss, it's not Linda it's Belinda, etc. - wow. He really is part of the problem. I dont even know how consciously he's doing it. But girl don't let him off the hook for a second you are Belinda!!
