BBYAFRICKA AND SURF GANG SHARE HARD COPY EP – OUT VIA SURF GANG RECORDS
Tumblr media
Inglewood tastemaker Bbyafricka teams up with independent NYC producer collective SURF GANG for their new collaborative project HARD COPY—out now via Surf Gang Records. Largely produced by SURF GANG headmaster evilgiane, HARD COPY blends Bbyafricka's melodic, free-flowing barwork with SURF GANG's idyllic soundscapes across the project's four tracks, culminating in an electric collaboration that provides a promising glimpse into the future of experimental rap. The EP follows the forward-thinking beat-makers' recent link-up with Massachusetts singer LUCY (Cooper B. Handy) for joint project JACK & THE BEANSTALK, released last month. Known for her poetic wordplay and eclectic sonic blend of emo, R&B, and indie rock, Bbyafricka first exploded onto the scene in 2018 with her fish narc (Juice WRLD, Lil Peep) and Nedarb-produced (Lil Peep, $UICIDEBOYS, Xavier Wulf) debut project Brain Damage as well as her single "Downtown & Cigarettes" before making waves with viral Saweetie link-up "Baby Mama Coochie"(4M Streams) and her 2021 collaboration with Lil Yachty on "Dead to Me".
HARD COPY arrives on the heels of an exciting year for evilgiane—after receiving a 2024 GRAMMY "Best Rap Performance" nomination for his work on Kendrick Lamar & Baby Keem's"The Hillbillies", he's since released both a collab album with Slimesito, EVILSLIME, as well as January mixtape #HEAVENSGATE VOL. 1. The project boasted features from the likes of Rx Papi,454, Xaviersobased, Nettspend, 03Greedo and FLEE and was instantly met with critical acclaim from The FADER, Stereogum, Hypebeast and Pitchfork. It's also been a busy 2024 for Bbyafricka, who made her initial foray into the dance scene with Gorgon City collab "Biggest Regret" (8M Streams) following the release of her latest full-length project The Rapture earlier this year. Now with new collab tape HARD COPY, Bbyafricka and SURF GANG join forces for a kinetic, genre-bending outing—and a refreshing preview of the next generation's DIY rap counterculture.

Attorney Fani Taifa Willis (October 27, 1971) is an attorney. She is the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, which contains most of Atlanta. She is the first woman to hold the office.
She was born in Inglewood. Her father was a member of the Black Panthers and a criminal defense attorney.
She graduated from Howard University with a BA in Political Science, cum laude. She moved to Atlanta to attend Emory University School of Law, graduating with a JD. She spent 16 years as a prosecutor in the Fulton County district attorney’s office. Her most prominent case was her prosecution of the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal. She went into private practice. She ran for a seat on the Fulton County Superior Court and lost. In 2019, she became chief municipal judge for South Fulton, Georgia.
In 2020, she was elected district attorney for Fulton County, defeating a six-term incumbent and her former boss.
On February 10, 2021, she launched a criminal investigation into Donald Trump’s attempts to influence Georgia election officials—including the governor, the attorney general, and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger via a telephone call—to “find” enough votes to override Joe Biden’s win in that state and thus undo Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.
In January 2022, she requested a special grand jury to consider charges of election interference by Trump and his allies. In May, a 26-member special grand jury was given investigative authority and subpoena power and tasked with submitting a report to the judge on whether a crime was committed.
On April 24, 2023, she announced the decision to charge Trump and his associates during the Georgia Superior Courts.
In May 2022, her office indicted Young Thug for 56 counts of gang-related crimes under Georgia’s RICO statute and felony charges for possession of illicit firearms and drugs that were allegedly discovered after a search warrant was executed. The rapper has been held in Cobb County jail since his arrest.
She married Fred Willis (1996-2005). They have two daughters together. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

hey yall, this past week has been such an eye opening, elevating one and i want to share that with yall.
if you don’t know, i am a Black woman so on wednesday, june 19th us Black folk celebrated Juneteenth. fun fact, i am from Los Angeles so I am deeply connected and infatuated by the quintessential West Coast/LA culture and music scene.
some more background, if you are not aware, amidst the kendrick lamar/drake beef going on these past few months, kendrick did a relatively spontaneous concert at the Inglewood Forum (which is a music venue/arena that has deep significance to the Black community in Los Angeles).
I was not able to physically go to the concert, as it was $400+ and I am broke as hell. Nevertheless, I was able to watch all 4 hours of the concert in the comfort of my bed. Going into watching this I thought it was gonna be the most instigating-est concern ever, just real messy and full of drama (as most rap beefs end up being) but this one was different.
As I watched all of these LA-based rappers come up on stage and perform their songs, and then see how active the crowd was, I felt so emotional. There has never been a time where my city has been this connected and united that I have experienced in my life time. Kendrick was able to pull so many people from different walks of life and opposing gangs and had them essentially “pop-out and show niggas”
As the concert got to about the fourth playback of “Not Like Us” and everyone came out and started dancing together, I felt the impact Kendrick made in the moment. Seeing Steve Lacy and YG on the same stage was jarring, but then see them chopping it up was a whole other level.
I have come to the conclusion that Kendrick is the only artist, to my recollection, that has allowed me to fully actualize my Blackness in the context of Los Angeles, the US, and the world. I will go into his music at a separate time, but to see the artists and rappers that have contributed to my Black West Coast identity all in one place being united under the mere celebration of Black people will make me emotional every time I think about it.
Since wednesday, I have watched the concert in full 5 times, that is 20 hours of Black joy and Black unity. So will leave yall with this, if you havent watched the concert, and are curious of how us LA Black folk live and roll, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go watch it!!
thank you,
cori <3

hi there ! you can refer to me as liz (she/her). this muse has been on my mind for quite some time now, and i finally decided to join this lovely place to give cha vinn a home. thank you to all the warm welcomes i have already received, i can't wait to plot & write with everyone. also a quick note: i might be a bit slow at times due to a busy schedule, but i will definitely get back to everyone in time. below the cut i will list some quick information about vinn, but if you want a more in depth biography, you can find it here. if you would like to plot, don't hesitate to reach out or leave a like on this post, and i will come to you instead!
tl;dr:
cha vinn was born on 14/09/2002 in inglewood, california
he grew up in an orphanage there, left behind by his biological parents due to unknown reasons
when he turned nine years old, an american family adopted him. although grateful, vinn still had a hard time warming up to them as he wasn't used to being part of a family
he was a troublesome child at first, getting into all sorts of trouble until meeting a music producer who worked with underground rappers
this was also when he developed an interest in music, learning to create his own beats and write his own lyrics
at the age of 16 vinn reconnected with his ethnicity and stumbled upon k-pop which sparked his interest in the genre and ultimately lead him to attending dance classes as he wished to imitate all the choreographies from all the music videos he saw
after turning 18, vinn decided he wanted to find his biological parents. he managed to contact his aunt, who helped him reunite with his biological mother living in korea
wanting to make an effort to build a relationship with his biological mother, vinn accepted his aunt's offer to move in with her and her husband
he also began working part-time at the convenient store they own, while attending university and giving private guitar lessons
his main goal is still to get scouted as a trainee and eventually debut
trivia:
is rather quiet and a big introvert
he's a perfectionist who criticizes everything about himself
vinn still doesn't know who his biological father is, but he's determined to find him too
his korean isn't perfect, and he still has a strong american accent when talking in korean
most of the time he looks angry even though he isn't actually upset
close / deep relationships and / or friendships scare him, so he tends to avoid them
he's aiming to become a trainee at studio delta
although he is serious most of the time, he can be a big dork too, it just takes him a while to let loose
possible plots:
customers of his aunt's convenient store who have become accustomed to vinn's face as he works there seven days a week
people he is giving guitar lessons to
someone who wants to befriend vinn, but he's being reluctant in giving in, although they spend a lot of time together
other aspiring trainees with the same goal as vinn. they could talk about their dreams and fears, maybe even practice together
past flings or almost lovers. as vinn never commits to relationships, he could have left behind some bitter feelings or mutual understanding. either way, his excuse is usually the same: he's not looking for anything serious (even though he is)
there is so much more potential, i'd be happy to brainstorm anything, especially things related to following his dream of becoming a trainee. don't be shy to throw ideas at me or ask for specific plots, i'm happy to write whatever works <3

310Babii Heats Up the L.A. Rap Scene with the Release of 310Degrees
L.A. has a new prodigy setting the city on fire, and his name is 310babii. At just 18 years old, this Inglewood native has already secured his place as one of the most promising young voices in the rap game. With the release of his latest project, 310Degrees, 310babii is turning up the heat, showing that his meteoric rise is just getting started.
310babii’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. In 2023, while still juggling high school classes, he dropped his breakout single, “Soak City (Do It),” which quickly became a West Coast anthem. Fueled by a viral TikTok dance challenge, the track dominated the charts, earning over 20 million views on YouTube and peaking at #1 on both the Rhythmic and Rap charts. His success didn't stop there—Soak City spent 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing 310babii as a certified hitmaker.
Fast forward to 2024, and 310babii is ready to continue his winning streak. His new project, 310Degrees, is a testament to his ability to deliver bangers while evolving as an artist. The project features his latest single, “That’s It,” a bass-heavy, thunderous track that showcases his versatility. In the accompanying music video, 310babii is seen riding through the streets of Oakland, exuding confidence as he commands the screen. Directed by AdamKG, the visuals highlight his flair for storytelling and his undeniable charisma.
youtube
The new single comes on the heels of other summer anthems like “Rock Ya Hips” and “Pink Whitney,” both of which dominated TikTok and amassed millions of streams. His knack for creating viral moments has positioned 310babii as not just a rapper, but a cultural force. From collaborating with heavyweights like Saweetie, OhGeesy, and BlueBucksClan to gracing stages at Coachella and Rolling Loud, 310babii is showing no signs of slowing down.
But it’s not just about the music. 310babii’s work ethic is a driving force behind his success. “Every artist has their recipe, and my method of success has been dominating TikTok and social media,” he explains. With a platinum plaque and countless viral hits under his belt, 310babii’s hustle is undeniable.
Now, with 310Degrees officially out, the world is watching to see what’s next. As he continues to climb the charts and evolve his sound, 310babii is proving that he’s not just another rising star—he’s here to stay.
For fans of West Coast rap and those looking for the next big thing, 310Degrees is a must-listen. This project encapsulates 310babii’s journey from high school to the top of the rap game, and it’s only the beginning.
