ROTTMNT Curiosities Part.5
The ideas of making and ending the series through IDW comic would be easy to do
If the series is picked up, the tone of Rise would remain the same
Some chapters discarded were the following, (I took the information from
where it will be more complete, in case you want to read it)
Wedding Smashers: Ghostbear marries his fiancé Ghostpepper, a Chupacabra yokai. Raph and Mikey crash their wedding dressed as their aliases Shadybug and Dr. Rude.
Dog Dale Afternoon: April finds out that Baba Yaga cursed Dale to be a werewolf, but he doesn't know what's happening to him, Donnie shows up to “help him,” and be his doctor.
Shred Dead Redemption: Screenwriter Sheldon Vella shared the first board of his showing the brothers chasing the cupcake van called Fire and Icing in Turtle Tank. Unfortunately, a piece of cardboard (Donnie's cloaking device) blocking the front windshield causes the Tank to crash gracelessly into a Lou Jitsu poster.
Warren Stone 2: Warren Stone is cut in half again, but this time the lower half of him becomes a different Warren sporting a beard and shaved head. Warren Stone II ends up becoming a competent and dangerous enemy for the turtles. Realizing that Warren is upset, Warren II has taken his title of "The Turtles' Greatest Enemy", April helps Warren regain his charm.
Gourd Almighty: A comedic episode about Donnie trying to grow the world's largest pumpkin for a contest.
T-Hex: It was going to be about Mikey wanting a robotic toy with a "boopable snoot." After getting the toy he turns out to be not as innocent as he seems.
Lost Goat: Draxum leaves after having a fight with the family (Turtles and Splinter). As he does so, he is abducted by the foot. While trying to rescue Draxum, the family has no choice but to resolve their issues regarding him.
Goyles just wants to have fun: Huggin and Muggin are confused when they find Draxum working in a school cafeteria. Draxum asks Leo and Donnie to help improve his image so as not to lose the respect he once had for the Goyles.
Rampaging Raph: Raph comes to Draxum for help after getting trapped in his enormous mystical form. He is ashamed of not having mastered his mystical powers like his brothers. Draxum ends up splitting Raph and his mystical power, which then becomes a problem when the Red Hulk turns red and begins crushing the city, getting stronger with each hit. To save the city, Raph has to confess and ask his brothers for help.
The Island of Dr. Noe: Hunter/dentist Dr. Noe kidnaps Raph and Leo and takes them to his home island. The doctor wants Raph's tooth in his tooth collection.
Toddler Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mikey becomes the oldest when his siblings turn into little turtles after being attacked by an immortal mutant jellyfish bank robber. 163.There is a small chance that Such TMNT and Rise exist at the same time. 164.Production ties were a little over a year from premise. About 8 weeks from premise to draft record, about 12 for a storyboard, 8 for final animation, with design happening all the time. 6 months for full animation, music, etc. 165. You always interacted a lot with the design team when writing 166.Here is the board with the episodes of the series (in season 2), although some are jokes 167.Although Netflix supported Rise for the movie, it is not Ron or Russ's decision whether the series will continue or not, but they want it to continue supporting 168. The best way to support Rise is to keep watching, posting and spreading the word for the show

Just gonna type my thoughts out based on my notes I wrote while playing the To the Moon Beach Episode. So spoilers/long ramble.
Short things:
They brought back many minor characters from Finding Paradise, thought that was very cute
References: The "Are you winning, son?" in the airport was charming but I did not expect to get a full FNAF section
I love the use of previous games OST: updated versions and the lo-fi versions
Animations were very charming and expressive; they even joke about it ("didn't have a budget for it. The dance lessons")
That inverted/hanging jellyfish planter. I need it. I need it now.
Rob learning what people are up to on the internet these days only to instantly regret it
Willis and Taima still going at it. They are lifelong couple goals: keeping the flame alive while dropping wisdom
I need that soundtrack.
Bigger things:
Johnny and River addressing what most players/general audience found concerning about the original game and overall premise of the series: Altering and overwriting of memories or basically the reality of the dying. While jokingly Johnny says he could never see himself using their services, both conclude it's their choice and they just need to accept it
This was slightly touched on in the Minisode but for it to be brought into attention by the original characters that kicked off this series, it's something.
The three books at the beginning already set forth what this game is gonna be all about: grieving and acceptance of the passing of a loved one. The first run through, Eva completely numbed her memories to enjoy the beach and time with Neil. But there was always something.
Second run, she "confronts" as Faye states the truth: Neil is dead.
It was hinted that Eva started drinking (in the store) and has been repeatedly using the machine Neil left behind that Neil becomes concerned for her. (Similar to Collin in Finding Paradise.) While she wants to stay on the beach and relive the same day over and over, it's not possible.
There was a brief mention of immortality. One being a jellyfish that reverts back to infancy as it reaches the end of their lifespan and questioning if it's still the same jellyfish or not. Then compared to humans how we regenerate new cells except the brain and heart.
Roxie finds it romantic, Eva wishes that those also gets replaced with every pass.
Neil's death was either sudden or his condition was kept secret from Eva? Eva mentioned he didn't give her enough time to prepare and Neil didn't know what to do and I think he said he made the machine just so he just doesn't disappear and to leave something behind for her.
*Edit* I completely forgot about Paper Memories. I'm guessing the phone call Eva got from Roxie was that Neil passed away (given how distressed Roxie was in that one panel). It is possible that that portion was in the machine and that Rob and Roxie were aware. That whole portion is basically like this Beach Episode.
Edit2: thinking again, the call could be him in critical condition since in the comic Neil mentions making that garden. Eva not replying to Neil on how he died makes it sound like it was traumatic. She mentioned something about a surgery when talking to Lynri and Quincy and asking how he is when he visits them but not sure if that's involved or just a throwaway line.
Neil lives on with regrets; mostly wishing Eva was his girlfriend and more. Though he isn't real in the game, he still carries the memories he had. He built her "a garden" (comic reference) but she started spending too much time. And she can't fully enjoy it because he continues to keep her at arms length.
Neil locked himself in his room, much like he did in many instances throughout the series and now canonically, all throughout the life Eva and Neil has been together. Thinking he's doing what's best for her when all she wanted is him to be "here'
He regrets those decisions but it's understandable on why he did it. In Impostor Factory, Lynri's condition was hereditary and is in Neil. Seeing Quincy's face of absolute loneliness knowing he's about to lose his wife and eventually his son, it would devastate anyone. Neil making a machine to make it so that Eva would never have to go through that, while admirable, changed nothing. If not, made things worse.
How they close the game was brutal: The world Neil created for Eva to never be alone after he has passed slowly fading away, concluding with Eva being alone, crying, as she turns the machine off.
You couldn't just leave it like this for them. Together alone on the beach.
Tumblr media
No. It's just Eva. Alone.

Goth-Pod Ep 9: Robin
What is so wonderous about our Boy Wonder? Join Juda Boone near the end of goth-pods first season!
"Is Robin a Demon?" Gotham City Tonight Podcast: https://youtu.be/Nulf9VIjdpg?si=b4u9xMSNkwl-Szr6
[goth-pod is a fictional, in-universe podcast based on the DC comics universe. Juda Boone is an original fictional character, not based on any real person or known comic book character.]
Transcript under the cut
Hello everyone and welcome back! This is Goth-Pod, your Gotham based podcast. You're listening to your favorite Fill in the Blank Here and host, Juda Boone.
Everyone, I want it to be known that I do try to keep most of my personal opinions out of our scripts. Even when I get off track, I try to offer a possible perspective, instead of what I perceive as 100% truth.
However, there is one topic that I can not be objective on.
I love Robin. I love Robin, he is our precious, tiny, baby, baby bird. He is a Joy and a Wonder. A Boy Wonder, if you will. He melts my heart every time I see any headline or blogpost or circulating photo.
He could be hog tying a man in an alleyway waiting for police pick up and I simply would want to pinch his cheek like an adoring relative.
I think part of that is, I grew up with Robin. I was a kid when he first appeared at the Bat’s side. I got to grow up knowing that there was someone my size, someone small and young but still strong enough to fight for what was right. It inspired and shaped me in a lot of ways.
But that’s the thing. I grew up. And from my memory, so did Robin. He got taller, he got stronger. Even in the shadowy pictures we have of the Bat and the Boy Wonder, there's a clear passage of time as the baby bird grows.
And now, as I step into early adulthood… Robin is small again. He’s almost back to the size from his first appearance in Gotham.
I find myself asking: Is Robin Immortal?
Is it a jellyfish situation? Did something stress out the young Robin so badly that he reverted to a younger stage of development? If that is the case, I do not want to know what could have been that bad.
I saw another podcast touch on the topic a while back- The Gotham City Tonight Podcast. And to be clear, I do not support their connection with Lexcorp. They’re actually being investigated after the Riddler called out a shady deal of theirs on air. Only in Gotham.
But, even with the clear slandering, we can pick through to something viable. I would never call Robin a demon, but the idea that he may be an entity specifically attached to Batman is an interesting thought. Robin protects Batman just as much as Batman protects Robin. Robins in nature are active during the day. And yet, here is our nocturnal bird, dutifully flying alongside a bat. Not of the same species, but of the same make.
Our precious oddity, remaining small so that another generation can grow up and know there is something that looks like them out there, keeping the city safe.
If you want to listen to the GCT podcast without supporting them, I’ll link a copy of the episode that was uploaded to the HiFinn channel. [Link: https://youtu.be/Nulf9VIjdpg?si=b4u9xMSNkwl-Szr6]
Thanks for joining. I’m Juda, you’re listening to Goth-Pod. Until next time, Stay Safe, Gotham.

Wasn’t there a wild kratts episode where the kratts brothers got immortal jellyfish powers and then Martin went mad with power for a minute and tried to become immortal. Anyways I think that’s where my focus on my inevitable mortality and the inescapable reach of death began

MY DUDESSSSSSS
THE GHOST SHIP EPISODE
SCREAMS AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS SHELLINGTON-IMMORTAL JELLYFISH-EXCITED-NOISES why yes I am coining that it’s a jumbled up quote now JSJSK
BUT GUYS YOU HAVE NO IDEAAAAA
SPOILERS SEASON 5 EP 4
‼️
‼️
‼️
‼️
I need everyone to understand how FREAKING AWESOME IT IS TO SEE THEM ON A PIRATE SHIP LIKE YASSS
Ok things I noticed:
Tumblr media
I need this as my home screen like asap AHDJSJS also notice how the pictures are not the usual octonauts style, but actually the above and beyond art style :OO it’s interesting cause the first two were in the traditional og style for seasons 1-4, but the last two have been above and beyond 🤔maybe conflicts with meomi? Intriguing, I say using my Inkling voice🧐
-On the topic of Inky, kinda sad he don’t got a big part in the show yet :C It seems like every episode has been very team-central, all of em in gups working together. I don’t mind it though, it’s a nice transition from LITERALLY JUST KWAZII PESO AND BARNACLES EVERY GAH DAMN EPISODE in season 1-4 then to literally anyone else in above and beyond LMAO
-BUT SLAY THE DAY AWAY SHELLINGTON OUR PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED FOR MORE SCREEN TIME LETS GOOOOO 🥳Driving arc? Slay. The last episode with the whales? Slay. Just being his knowledgeable self and bestest shelly boi ever? Triple slay.
-THE BARNACLES NAME THING. FINALLY. LIKE ACTUALLY MY MOM CAME INTO MY ROOM LIKE “I’m assuming the episode is good huh :)” I WAS CACKLING AHSJSJFBFNKD
Here ya go💀💀💀
The way he’s so gentle and patient with Peso haha that’s ur son- then gets that grumpy face with Kwazii 💀
-Seeing them on a ship is just so cool and I ADORE the ghost ship like those colors? 💅✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Another thing, the fact they trust Tunip more than shelly to drive💀💀💀 BUT BOY O BOY HE TURNS IT AROUND YIPPEE IN THE GUP C👏👏👏
This is gonna be a 3 parter post yall- and the 2 and 3 episodes will be arriving shortly 😅

It's so rare for me to watch a show as it's airing; I'd forgotten how frustrating it can be waiting for the next episode. I can't even look up spoilers because no one knows any more than I do. True Detective is going to drive me up the walls before it's done, and I can't even talk about it irl b/c no one I know is watching it, so I'll have to ramble about it on tumblr.
So I'm guessing Clark was trying to resurrect Annie somehow. I don't know if any of the stuff in the trailer has any significance to indigenous practices, but it looked like something a madman might create to preserve someone's spirit. And Clark took Annie's tongue in order to have her DNA so he could clone her, maybe. I don't know why he'd pick the tongue; maybe because it was easier to cut off than a finger? Not that I think his plan would work; nothing in the scientists' backgrounds or what we've seen of the facilities would suggest they were capable of cloning a person.
Speaking of the scientists, I hope the show will go more in depth on their work. On the other hand, they're entering a field I know something about, and I already have questions. Why would it be impossible to sequence the DNA of the microorganisms in the permafrost? People already do that. Why would the methods of extracting it shear the chromosomes beyond their ability to sequence them? I would think the bigger problem would be getting enough sample to sequence in the first place. And with ancient DNA (in fossils, for example) the issue is that it also gets incredibly degraded over time. What's so special about where and what they're drilling? Is this even what they're actually doing? Do they actually know this microorganism exists, or are they still looking for it? People on reddit were making such a big deal about the microorganisms being responsible for the weird state of Annie's tongue (the unusual cellular damage) or the one scientist surviving, but to be honest, "this could unlock the key to immortality" gets bandied about a lot with certain scientific topics. Studies on cellular immortality, longevity, metabolism--people get all excited about this stuff, but the truth is, it's hard to translate the results in jellyfish, worms, bacteria, etc. into something directly applicable to humans. At best, Tsalal or the mine accidentally revived a new pandemic-causing bacteria. More likely, some unknown conflict between the mine and the scientists caused their deaths.

I'm sooo interested in Riker's comments at the end of Schisms (6x05) re: the invasive and violent operations being proof that this group of aliens was, and he says this in a harsh and resentful tone - "more than curious." Because whoa, what a line to end this episode on!!! Obviously completely fair but also what a pointed reflection on contemporary scientific practices and mindset?
Human methods of scientific study (although I recognize we are several centuries behind tng) have been are brutal and cruel. Even if we ignore (which is a bold choice) the dehumanization we weaponize to perform procedures, testing, and experiments that are eugenic in nature on actual human beings, we are also horrid to creatures and things we do not view as having a worthwhile life or consciousness.
Like... scientific studies are notoriously cruel to jellyfish. Which I know may be a weird hill to die on but I will die on it. (sidenote: it's not actually a weird hill because we should treat every thing better regardless of internal structures and consciousness.) A short and simplified jellyfish brief, if you don't know, when jellyfish die their bodies age backwards and sink to the seafloor; growing into a polyp which will sprout numerous more jellies. This earned them a bit of a reputation for being immortal even though that's not really what's happening. In reality when they endure an intense enough amount of trauma to disrupt their body or its functions they regress, sink, and start the life cycle anew. As a result the methods by which we study jellyfish are violent.
“Scientists who study the regeneration of the immortal jellyfish know this well, and have developed a roster of abuses to “induce rejuvenation,” as one study calls it. One standard method of traumatizing the jellyfish is to place the creature in a solution of cesium chloride, a colorless salt. An alternative, called the needle treatment, asks you to pierce the gooey umbrella with a stainless-steel needle. Some scientists drag the needle through the creature’s body in a scribble, removing the needle as burst cells coagulate like cumulus. Others stab repeatedly, up to fifty times per jellyfish. You can also heat shock the jellyfish, raising the temperature of the surrounding water to nearly 100 degrees. Or you can simply starve it. If you do not give the jellyfish more than it can handle, it will not begin to regrow. If there is not enough cesium chloride in the petri dish, if there are not enough needles or there is too little heat, the jellyfish will remain adult, alive. So you have to ensure there is enough stress, enough trauma." (chapter: Us Everlasting, How Far The Light Reaches, Sabrina Imbler, 2022)
Our methods of research almost always emphasize getting information as quickly as possible; explaining away our egregious violations of autonomy as necessary. Something about that has always felt really cruel to me and its part of the reason I pivoted from the specific career in biology I had wanted. I know it's "just a jellyfish" but it's also not? They are an important part of an ecosystem and landscape that we have chosen to define as a nuisance. Targets of aggression and anger in the wild fishermen often choose to destroy their bodies unknowingly creating hundreds if not thousands more. Our violent actions against them manifest worse conditions for ourselves and the ocean's ecosystem - it's a nauseating cycle.
I often end up thinking about jellyfish when I watch Star Trek: TNG. So many of the people flying through space "to explore strange new worlds" get so hung up on a being's experiences of consciousness if they don't explicitly mirror their own. I cannot get over everything that happens in Schism being such an interesting thought experiment on autonomy? Like the same episode where Data reads "Ode to Spot" and everyone sort of fails to recognize the beauty in his poetry, is also the episode where the crew is being kidnapped for experiments and reflecting on it, is also the same episode where Dr. Crusher (in a rare case!) doesn't do the extra tests right away and sends Riker home with hot milk before bed as a treatment, is also the episode where in the end Riker has resentment for being experimented on and the loss of a life... I just don't even know if they meant there to be this much thought about autonomy to be honest.
None of this is an in-universe criticism about the crew because I think having these kind of hiccups and topics in character development are interesting! I just think it's almost comical when the era a science-fiction show is written in rips through it's world building so hard it just sort of stares at you. Which is a great method of reflecting on our current times but it also a little funny in a show universe that claims to have moved past inequality when it's like, "ah yes but do you experience your emotions and consciousness like I, a human federation officer, no? then how do you know you even have them?!"

Questions for angel: who's your favorite octonaut? where was she in your favorite episode? And when was the last time she talked to a human?
Thanks for the ask! ☺️
It's hard for Angel to pick a favourite Octonaut. She loves all of them, but she's always been closest to Shellington and the Vegimals.
It's also hard for me to pick a favourite episode, so I'll just do one of my favourite episodes:
In 'The Immortal Jellyfish', Angel tags along with Shellington and Tunip in that wild ride to see the immortal jellyfish. It was pretty scary, but also kind of funny.
Angel thought the jellyfish was pretty cool, but is also jealous of him, being able to make himself younger. She was twelve at the time of this episode and was nervous about getting older. Plus, around about the same time as this episode, she, let's just say, reaches a womanly milestone. (I think you can figure out what I mean.)
The last time she talked to a human was right before she disappeared and the Octonauts found her. She's afraid of other humans finding her now because she knows they'll take her away from the Octonauts and she'd never see them again. She doesn't want that.

ichiro and kuukou’s conversation about akira and satoru this episode briefly confused me so i decided to compile what we know about our primary rhyme anima antagonists lol
a group of four by the names of kaibyakumon kikoku, chiaro, scuro and tbh
we know chiaro and scuro are aliases for kasago akira and wakasagi satoru, but they themselves have no recollection of their true names
tbh is implied to know their real identities however. he and very likely kikoku are concealing their identities for a number of reasons
tbh is the only one of the four whose real name we don’t know yet, if he has one lol
kikoku created, simply put, a sister company, called beginning gate that the four of them worked for. the parent company to beginning gate was called bg group. at some point tho, it all vanished without a trace
ramuda for some reason or another seems to be familiar with beginning gate given he reacted to the name during the tdd rundown
our antagonists purposefully targeted the chuuoku director of corrections, and maybe during that attack, all files related to akira and satoru were wiped
kikoku is an engineering genius and hitoya and jakurai’s old college classmate
presumably because of his genius, they can float, open portals to teleport and mind hack to some degree with the hypmics
bc of this they keep getting compared to ghosts; we even got jakurai and kuukou supplanting the idea of the second death, where the person dies and all memory of the person also dies
rei said the mics were untampered with, so we’re to assume all mics involved are normal
there is still the pointed existence of the tbh truck that drives around playing their music
kikoku has been shown hooked up to several IVs as he watches his plans come together, seated beside whatever tf this is. i’m not a biology chick but it kinda gave, to me at least, binucleated cells that’s typical of cancer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he’s also been shown in conjunction with jellyfish. immortality symbolism maybe???
akira and satoru seemed to have been under the bg group/beginning gate’s protection based on kuukou and ichiro’s conversation. tho they seemed to occasionally get into fights anyway (i personally suspect bc of said protection lol) presumably once beginning gate fell, they lost said protection

Very original of me, but I'll give you the same questions you asked me.
Ouch! 🩹 (worst injury with the Octonauts?)
Achoo! 🤧 (any allergies?)
Background 🐢 (favorite background character(s)?)
Splash 🐬 (favorite creature they've met working with the Octonauts?)
🩹: Trixie's worst injury with the Octonauts was the first time she went out on a solo mission. She was swept into a current and dragged across sharp rocks. She got several deep cuts and a few puncture wounds, but nothing life-threatening, thankfully. Frog doesn't feel pain, so she gets injured a lot. Her worst one was probably after being chewed up by a pod of whales after getting too close to one of their pups. It took a full week to repair all the damages to the wiring
🤧: Trixie is allergic to bee stings. Which sucks because she has to deal with African honey bees. Frog isn't allergic to anything, though
🐢: Trixie's favorite background character is definitely Paani (who is also my favorite). They didn't really get along at first, each trying to prove that they were a better survivalist than the other. But eventually, they became great friends. Frog's favorite is probably Koshi (Dashi's little sister). They find her antics amusing and likes playing detective with her
🐬: Trixie and Frog both have a lot of trouble choosing a favorite creature, there's just so many great ones they've encountered! But if Trixie had to choose, she'd probably say Theo, the stubbornly independent flamingo chick from the flamingos episode. Frog would have to pick Dorian, the immortal jellyfish

ROTTMNT Curiosities Part.4
The difficult part of the series was fitting the entire plot into 11 minutes for one episode, there were great things that were eliminated for this reason, the general opinion (from high ranks) was that action shows lasted 22 minutes to sell toys, while comedies got ratings
The soundtrack of the series is not much, so it is likely that an official soundtrack will not come out Some episodes were broadcast out of order
Even if you don't have a conceptual art book,
If they were Animal Crossing villagers. Leo would be a cheetah, Raph something cute and furry, Mikey something fierce like a badger, Donnie an immortal jellyfish
Big Mama is a mix of Headey's role as Ma-Ma in the movie Dredd and Mary Poppins
Russ imagines that Splinter had some kind of naming ceremony for them and made their own birth certificates, or some kind of formal Hamato Clan indoctrination scroll.
Stockboy's design was based on Egghead Jr
Splinter's mother's Guardian's job was probably to make sure the Foot Clan didn't get the Dark Armor teapot.
The words Hypno says in The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle are the surnames of those who worked on the series
Russ intended Don Suave to look like a young Ricardo Montalbán
In the chapter of The Hidden City Job, Don Suave says “Machismo”, however the writers were looking for a word of “exaggerated masculinity”, but that was interpreted in other ways, that is why it was changed in Spanish (Russ apologized for the confusion)
Russ appears in two episodes in Mascot Melee and Breaking Purple
In Pizza Puffs when Leo comes in sick with the baker, Ben (Leo) was asked to do 2 takes with what he would say, then he was asked not to read the script and say what he remembered. The result was sicker and stranger
If you have Google Home you can set Rise alarms (All written by Josh Riley Brown) Say “Hey Google, set a Donatello alarm for a minute” to try (This is years old, so I don't know if it works yet)
Carol is April's neighbor (she is not her mother)
Originally in "Shadow of Evil", Draxum was about to execute April and Splinter, and also Donnie and Mikey had a rock-paper-scissors fight to see who would be next to fight Splinter (This in homage to TMNT movie 1990)
The boys appeared in “Always Be Brownies”, this was discarded to give April the lead role.
It is up to each Hamato member to look after Shredder's return. It was Grandpa Sho's turn when he was young, but unfortunately Splinter's mother died under his watch.
None of the Foot recruits have a name.
A chapter had been thought of where it was told how Mikey and Raph were close as children
Cassandra was not planned to be Casey, that came up throughout the series
As for the boys' design, it is shadows that are seen, not black pants
There were no plans to do a crossover with Usagi, but the idea of one in the future has not been ruled out
The ideas of making and ending the series through IDW comic would be easy to do

hi hi hi!! i have a special birthday fact for you!! 🎁
Tumblr media
so this is Turritopsis dohrnii otherwise known as the immortal jellyfish and it's really famous for the stated! immortality!! what it does is it will be born young, go through its adolescence stages, adult, elderly and then what it does is instead of slowly deteriorating with age is it just starts this process again! baby, adolescence, adult, elderly, and again and again it goes round this process. scientists are still learning about this but it seems to be a creature that cannot die of old age which has alchemists everywhere giggling and kicking their feet. so yeah :D i will link a further article (octonauts episode) to it for more info but hope you liked this fact, have a good birthday!!
https://www.wcofun.org/the-octonauts-season-3-episode-17-the-immortal-jellyfish
I LOVE THESE GUYS AHHHHHHH I think the first I heard of them was actually Wild Kratts, which I watched religiously as a kid, but I also watched Octonauts a lot, which is how I got a lot of animal knowledge. And thank you for the birthday wishes! It's been great so far and I've gotten a lot of mushroom-related stuff. Thanks bee!

SEA FACT ANON!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS. i am so sorry for metaphorically having left you on read for many months. i'm actually sticking to my word for once and am going to clear out my inbox by answering anything that's still relevant because i want to be social again! i want to interact with my followers and that INCLUDES YOU! i haven't had a chance to respond to these facts, but i swear they have made me so happy to read and look at. which is why i'm making this post and slapping every single sea life fact you've sent! THE SEA CREATURE INDEX! so THANK YOU!!! THIS IS SO CUTE. i love the work that you are doing.
without further ado: SEA CREATURE FACTS
Sea creature fact of the day! Dermechinus horridus is an odd looking urchin that resembles a potted cactus, being much taller than it is wide. Because of this, it is sometimes called "the cactus urchin", though looking that up gets a cactus called "the urchin cactus", so be wary. Unusually among sea urchins, they are believed to be filter feeders!
Today's sea life fact : the queen eider may look like a normal duck, but her male counterpart (the king eider) has a square shaped, flat, colorful head!
Sealife fact of the day!: There are no maggots or beetles in the ocean, unfortunately, but the bone-eating worms play an important role in decomposition in their stead! They live on and bore into whale bones to eat the sweet, tasty lipids inside :) They're an annelid, like earthworms and leeches, making them pretty much a 'true worm' (if such a thing exists).
I almost forgot—bone-eating worms don't have a gut or a mouth. They digest with bacteria on their 'roots'! :)
SEALIFE FACT of the day: There are actually two living species of coelacanth, the more well-known African coelacanth and the Indonesian coelacanth. The African coelacanth is noted for being a beautiful blue, while the Indonesian coelacanth is a drab brown, and both have spots :) Despite being called coelacanths, they do not belong to the namesake genus of Coelacanthus (which went extinct in the Early Triassic), though they are ironically well-known And despite their fame, both species are under threat...with the African coelacanth in particular being critically endangered ):
SEA LIFE FAFT to celebrate Sponge Bob: There are many kinds of jellyfish! The main groups are the platonic, passive jellyfish you see often in aquariums, the more aggressive box jellyfish which are active predators with over 200 eyes, and the stalked jellyfish. Stalked jellyfish are weird–rather than swimming freely like their counterparts, they stay in a fixed place for basically ever! Then there's the immortal jellyfish...this one can live theoretically forever, since it can just bring itself back to polyp (the baby form of a jellyfish) when threatened. Of course, this is not counting for things like sickness or being eaten anyway. Then there are jellyfish that don't sting...like the deep-sea Stygiomedusa, which uses its long, dark, cloak-like tentacles to strangle prey to death instead :)
SEA LIFE FACT OF THE DAY: in the SpongeBob episode "Feral Friends", SpongeBob is depicted as crawling, though sea sponges at the time were believed to be entirely sessile. Of course, it wouldn't really be appealing to have the main character transform into basically a houseplant with pores, so it was an understandable change and did not negatively impact the quality of the episode. BUT! In the following years, there actually was discovered to be sea sponges that crawled!
and lastly:
Do you think Bikini Bottomites would make horror movies about the dreaded "tongue-eating lice"?
^ I ABSOLUTELY HOPE SO. i would most certainly watch a movie about this. instead of "don't let the bed bugs bite" do they say 'don't let the tongue-eating lice" bite? much to consider...
