There’s so many moments when Ghost thinks he’s fallen in love with you all over again. You’re a vision when you’re angry.

He watches in awe as you put your head through a window, blood dripping down your forehead as you grab a long shard and crack it out of the frame. It slices along the lines of your fingers, making blood run down the glass until it can gather and drip to the floor.

You turn to him in a flash and with a guttural cry you embed your makeshift weapon into his gut and torque your wrist just so— the glass snaps from the piece in your hand, embedding itself in his belly and almost no graspable surface to leverage it free. You push him onto the tile floor, throwing the leftover glass in your hand right next to his head where it shatters against the hard tile, hitting his cheek like cold rain.

You stomp out of the room, and heaven help whatever breakable objects land in your warpath.

Simon is so hard he doesn’t even remember what you were fighting about.

Ghost who’s so jaded and so tired of his own existence that he snaps at the fledgling immortal for panicking— for fighting what was inevitable for him, and will be for her.

And she cries for her humanity lost, and it snaps this tiny little tendon that was keeping his heart chained to the walls of his chest, unmoving for hundreds of years. He remembers waking up and being lost. Being dead and buried to everyone he’d known and watching them follow as he lived on. He doesn’t remember the last time he could bring himself to cry. He feels envious of her, for that. You may be scared and small and cold, but there will always be someone more scared, and even smaller than you are.

Being with you— helping you cope with what you’ve become— becomes his reason to be. Of course he falls in love— and it’s the truest kind. Because when he says he means to be with you forever, forever may actually be quite a long time.

I imagine there are stories of him. Even as he moved around, changed who he was— he’s still a figure showing up repeatedly in history. From temple reliefs to daguerreotypes to the background of instagram posts. To some conspiracy theorists and historians of the obscure and arcane, he has a somewhat mythological, cryptid identity.

And then over time, the image changes. In swirls your form, and accompaniment to his sonata without end. The figure of the skull mask, thought for centuries to be a portent of death, no longer appears alone. Your threads weave into him over the tapestry of ages, and suddenly the multitudes of sorrow and suffering he held inside him seem like a distant dream.

Ghost dying and then coming right back to life because he’s an immortal (see: The Old Guard). he’s from the year 900 AD or something. like ancient, spectral; has tried every possible method of killing himself, to no avail.

immortal sukuna who thinks even one moment with you again would be worth his entire immortal life.

Non transmitigation au where Shen Yuan auditions for a part in PIDW on a lark when it gets a live action adaptation, not thinking he’ll actually get a part (he just wanted to be able to say he did it okay? He was dated okay??! He was not dared he just thought it’d be neat, but he’ll admit to nothing.) and, much to his horror, ends up cast as Shen Qingqiu.

He somehow accidentally makes Shen Qingqiu so likable that he’s the most popular character. The fandom goes feral over him. He becomes famous. New fans are joining the bandwagon in droves to watch him.

And all the while, Shen Yuan is frantically trying to pretend he isn’t the most notorious anti fan troll to clown on the internet. He has never heard of PIDW before what do you mean Peerless Cucumber whomst?

“Stick out your tongue.” He does it without hesitation.

You uppercut him, right into the bottom of the chin. You can hear his teeth clack and the perverse squish of wet, rending flesh. Blood fills his mouth and flows down his chin. He sputters and covers his mouth as if he has any hope of containing it all.

“I forgive you, Simon.”

If he had a tail, it would be wagging.

sure, some things were different to him. but those were bound to change, immortal sukuna knew that all too well.

and yet when your lips quivered into a tender smile and your eyes beamed brightly like the bright stars in the night sky, immortal sukuna could feel himself lost in you again.

"hello." you whispered to immortal sukuna with that same cheerful tone.

immortal sukuna felt frozen in place as he let your words simmer into his reality, your reality. this reality.

immortal sukuna could feel his dark scarlet eyes water, as though they were the overflowing river in a raging surge.

you looked at immortal sukuna with concern, almost identical to that look you gave him in that mountain top. he felt shivers pass through him.

"are you alright?" are the next words you muttered back to him with all the warmth in the world. warmth that btoke his long suffering winter.

immortal sukuna wiped his tears, looking up to you and felt his own lips raise upwards. more genuine than ever before.

"yes." immortal sukuna whispered back to you. "because you are here."
