im not gonna lie i kinda hate when fanartists make draco 100% femme or like, just disregard the fact that he is a man? like yes, i understand u can draw whatever the FUCK you want, (also @ing fic writers cuz they have the tendency to do this too) but like, even if its a veela fic u dont have to make draco entirely femme to justify harry liking him? harry could also just be attracted to the male form ? idk this isnt succinctly put at all and sounds way better in my head and people have likely said this way better.

to make a long point short, draco could also just be a man in fanart and fics and you wouldnt have to femme-ify or make him female (do what u want i literally cannot stop u) because its an m/m pairing...

im so excited for october. like LOOK at these damn sign in prizes!!! the safe? ghost? the bird bath even!? it’s all so gothic and perfect and I don’t have anything quite like it and im so damn excited, like this has motivated me to log in every single day. ngl I think it’s also a lot better than september’s sign in. they were both themed after purple items, but octobers is just so freaking aesthetic and beautiful and gothic instead of just party supplies and I am utterly obsessed. I can’t wait to make a room with these items. anyways, moving on…

MY GOD the claw machine prizes are gorgeous. I love the flower theme and the colors, black and red and gold, are so perfect and the design for all of the decorations is such a dream come true. I don’t think I have any items in that color scheme actually, the designers are actually SO creative!! ive been DREAMING for some decorations w a darker/more gothic aesthetic & this month i am getting it!!!

the claw machine cat looks a lot like the white-whisker cat (i don’t have it but i stalk the purrfect tale fandom wiki constantly), but it’s slightly different. im thinking of naming it something to match the theme of this month (flowers, gothic, butterflies, death, etc) but im worried it might seem a little off since they dont rlly have a spooky aesthetic? cuz they just seem like a silly little normal cat. honestly I’m also a little surprised it’s not as themed as other october cats — if I remember correctly one of them was ghost-themed and actually looked like a ghost (I named him catsley, get it like pugsley from the addams family? lol), but I’m excited to pull them nonetheless :3 im prolly gonna spend all my hearts grinding for the claw machine lolz

when I was looking through the october prizes slides, i 1000% expected the poop candy shop to at least be on the same level as the claw machine and sign in, or at LEAST have the same theme/vibes, but this is just underwhelming. nothing stands out to me as particularly spooky/october, except for the pumpkin hat? and that’s a bit disappointing bc I was expecting to get more october outfits. ive been saving up for whenever a cat appears in the poop candy shop so i prolly won’t spend anything, although the blue hair interests me — depends how much it costs. save for the rare exceptions/cats, I usually don’t buy a lot from the poop candy shop anyways, so at the same time it’s not that bad.

and dont get me wrong — its not BAD , it didnt run over my dog or anything, its just kinda lame in comparison to everything else, and in occordance to the theme. it also just doesn’t appeal to me personally. those items wouldn’t look out of place in maybe a november (bc of the winter outfit) or even a spring month cache, its just the fact that it’s in october ig. like for example the bottom left one is just generic.

this is so vague. my headcanons are shifting and nebulous and aus are my constant companion in everything, but uhhhhhhghhusjkdjnsdg i think. roxy writes the same way dave draws comics. its extremely memey and meta and self aware and largely just for the personal lolz, and were all doing her a disservice by pretending her writing looks like roses, when in reality dirk is probably the one whod make comics the way rose makes books (which is probably why he doesnt make comics). its more of that thing where roxy and dave are the same and rose and dirk are the same ykwim. well YOU dont corvus but im sure someone else does

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

harvey is a heartwrenching character when written well, with a complicated view of morality, heartbreaking ties to our main hero, and a lot of internal conflict. something about such a hopeful character deadset on making a different in the system becoming a victim of it, and the potential he has as a vehicle for critiquing the law.

percy is my favorite character from pjo bc it was the very first time in my life i ever read a book and saw myself in it. hes aggressive, impulsive, and rebellious, he fidgets and has a hard time standing still, he acts on emotion without always thinking it through, he gets in trouble in school and hands his mom a murder weapon to kill his stepdad, hes just... hes a lot of the things ive always gotten in trouble for, things i couldnt help being, and hes a hero. he means everything to me.

vriska, i will maintain until the day i die, is one of the best homestuck characters- maybe just characters?- ever written. shes dramatic, shes impulsive, shes manipulative and mean and creative, and shes just so messy about it. shes a mean girl in a way that feels real, where her trauma impacts and shapes her as a person, and shes complex, with warring wants, and people she cares about, and dreams, and shes so messy. shes rough and rude and shes doing what SHE wants to, being a version of herself that feels right to HER, rather than some caricature of the hot badass evil lady. shes thirteen!! and she FEELS thirteen. shes a thirteen year old weird girl who is kind of an asshole, and she means literally fucking everything to me. shes a pirate!!!!! shes a swashbuckling badass dressing up in her larping outfit and yelling at her friends on the playground to swab the deck and she is the bestest ever, the end.

i didnt mean for each one of these to be longer than the last but here we are.

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

i hate jdedave peace and love it just feels weird as hell to me. dave, for the most part, is hyper respectful of other peoples choices and boundaries but when it comes to jade hes always trying to mke choices for her, to protect her, and it gets to the point where even jade points out how much it bugs her. jades crush on dave also seems to come from a place of misunderstanding to me, admiring a lot of the parts of himself that he exaggerates and pretends to care about as a result of trauma. it always felt like a kid crush that they shouldve grown out of with time. dave also just sort of seems to... go along with whatever romantic relationships people push him into at that age, rolling with whoever flirts with him jsut bc hes trying to maintain the image of a player, so its really hard to take him seriously any time he hits on someone?

that is just my interpretation of it tho

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

well. i havent finished my reread of homestuck, so that feels difficult to comment on just yet, bc im sure ill have a different opinion when i do finish it. no one in dc gets character arc bc theyre all just undone immediately, so thats like. yeah. and in pjo the arcs are pretty weak bc 1) kids books and 2) RICK UNDOES THEM ALL. AUGH. regardless of all of this, i am going to say jason grace. he had a lot of development in like the last two hoo books, or maybe just like.... hints of how he couldve developed? promise? which rick immediately set fire to in toa when he killed him, but fUCKING WHATEVER. UGH.

anyway actually tho eleanor from the good place. bisexual icon. queen. probably one of the best character arcs of all time. the episode w her mom has some of the most powerful fucking dialogue ever and i think about it. all the time. i should rewatch the good place.....

Any tips on how to start writhing for characters from shows/books?

i can talk about this for two hours but lemme break it down shortly for ya. generally to start writing, you first need the three musketeers:

character(s)

an idea / plot

genre(s)

choose your characters!

they're an important asset in writing, of course. you need to start off a story based on that character. to replicate their personalities and whatnot may be hard or not, but to pick a character is always the first step in writing for a fandom. because at the end of the day, you need to base your piece off of them.

how to start writing?

ALWAYS. always ... have a solid idea in mind. doesn't matter how small it is, set it to solidity. never let your ideas be faint. they have to be really prominent even if it's in your vision. stir a plot or idea based on the character you chose! i emphasize this to other new writers a lot because people tend to lose motivation mid-writing when they don't have a solid idea of what they're going to write for the entire thing. i always write a summary of something im gonna write. no matter how short the fic it is, i will always plot everything out in a small summary first. unless you wanna go impromptu and have your brains fried, go ahead lolz

what theme should it be?

genre, theme, setting, etc. you pick. you have fun. it's your story, you're the one writing it. a story shouldn't be limited to only one single genre. could be romance, could be platonic, could be angst, whatever. but of course, set on ONE worldly setting. if you're writing about vikings, stick to the nordic countries. don't pop in some random chinese jiangshi... always set a main theme or genre for your story, and progress from there onwards.

writing style?

read lots and lots of books or fics. catch a specific author's writing style and take inspiration from it. but of course! never copy them, never copy their writing style like an unoriginal little leech sucking off the author's blood. find your own style. make english your language. create sentences that fits you. grammar is also so so freaking important in a story because if you get one word wrong, the whole story kinda takes a turn yk? of course, you can explore different writing styles. just find a comfortable one that suits you. i base my writing off haruki murakami's ( i fw him ) metaphorical descriptions. he always has characters who calls themselves concept and metaphors and i basically just took their way to talking and mold them into my writing style + poetry combined HAHA

word count?

nobody cares how much words you write just go crazy. everyone read everything anyways what's the point
