Another thing I love about the Merlin fandom is how Merthur shippers still love Gwen.

That Gwen is still written or drawn to have a happy ending and is still loved and cared for.

A lot of fandoms will find reasons to drag the canon partner or completely erase them to fit the narrative that supports their own ship.

But Gwen, the vast majority of the time, is given happiness and is portrayed as both capable and respected.

alright so this is a bit of an overlap between fandoms but I really want to investigate it !!

so consider one remus lupin, who canonically has used mobility aids.

now consider one viktor, who also canonically uses mobility aids.

In fics (espec modern AU's) only one of these characters gets a treatment which highlights and delves further into their disability and their chronic pain. I think its amazing to have this kind of representation in fic because its adding another layer to a characters psyche! how does pain affect them, how have they had to deal with it? though their disability doesnt define them, what things are/aren't they able to achieve because of the hinderance?

Its very interesting to read viktor into these discussions, but i feel that rarely is remus and his chronic pain discussed in fandom and in fic! don't get me wrong there are definitely fics that do a good job of discussing it, but it is by far not the majority and it would be very interesting to see how we could change that. what would his character be if one included this aspect of his character into it? how does this change the narrative you yourself are trying to write?
