Do I feel stupid to make the Tea shenanigan with the Oda forces?
Since I feel like it suits them a lot talking the way they make tea in general and question each other way of thinking
Edit-
Ok I’m done with it

Much has changed but I still have you
~~~
Ikemen sengoku x reader
Keiji Maeda x reader
Part of @aquagirl1978 's "a series of firsts" challenge
Prompt: First child (getting used to life as parents)
In which while getting used parenthood, you and Keiji introduce your newborn son to the Oda forces.
~~~
A shrill cry woke you both out of your sleep, he heard you before he could even open his eyes completely. "Oh my baby" you soothingly said, as the light assaulted your eyes. Quickly assimilating to the light Keiji saw you bump into the wall before feeling for the door, finding it and sliding it open.
He took a moment to sigh before sitting himself up and pulling the covers off.
He'd long since realized his dream, bringing an alliance back from Echigo. Becoming lord of the land, giving a home to his parents. Marrying you, becoming a father.
He inhales as he breaks out of his reverie at the sound of the door opening and closing. "Maybe we should move his room, it's always cold in there" you say, voice laced with exhaustion matching your dark eye bags, walking over to the futon, your son of barely 5 months in your arms. "Yeah? Maybe next to ours, instead of down the hall" he answers as he ties his hair. You nod in agreement, smiling at him as he settles himself behind you.
"Good morning" he says leaning over to kiss your temple, taking the blanket and repositioning it to cover both you and the babe in your arms. "Morning" you say back, letting the yukata slip off your shoulder in order to feed him. "How many hours did you get" he asks softly so as not to jostle the baby who is blissfully feeding on your nipple. "Hours? More like minutes" you joke, not entirely a lie, he laughs "after they go, get some sleep I'll watch him" Keiji offers not looking away from your half asleep baby. "Nah, you need sleep too, don't think I don't know you're sleep schedule is worse than mine" despite your words your tone was as soft as ever. "Okay" he tenderly whispers in your ear followed by a slight nibble to your earlobe.
"Keiji" you whimper, "they'll be here soon" you breathe out as he works his way down your neck. "So..." he reasons, you turn to him lips slightly parted as he leans into you slowly, his hand lightly caressing your jaw. Your lips are the only thing on his mind.
You feel a breath of cold air on your nipple right before your son's high pitched mewls turned into high pitched cries breaking the mood.
You both heave a sigh, before separating, he helps you restate your robes. "Do you know how much time we have before they get here?" You ask as he takes your baby to change his diaper "soon, but probably not until after breakfast" he estimates.
You hand your son off to the nursemaid, so that you and Keiji can enjoy breakfast together. After that you dressed the baby and then yourselves. Before going to the meeting room you took a mat for him to lay on along with a few toys that you knew he liked.
~~~
A delighted smile spread across your face as you wiggled the den-den daiko, one of the many gifts gifted to him by his grandparents. His cheerful gurgle and drool making its way past his chin, he flails as he sees your smile making your soar. The light of the sun breaks through the crack of the shoji doors illuminating his rosy cheeks making a sheer contrast to the bright blue kimono you'd made him.
"A strong voice makes good on the battlefield" Nobunaga's booming voice echoes throughout the meeting room, as you turned around you saw everyone pile in.
After exchanging greetings everyone took their seat around the room. You handed him to Nobunaga, helping him support your son in the right places.
"I think he has your nose" Hideyoshi whispers from his place between you and his liege lord, the latter's attention consumed by the child he was currently bouncing through the air. A breathy laugh leaves your lips "yeah and he has Keiji's hair" you whisper back. As your conversation dies down you both turn back to Nobunaga and the baby staring intensely into his eyes, kicking his feet as the former bounces him into the air.
He'd been doing this for quite a while now so you were concerned. "You might want to put him down for a minute, he might-" words dying down in your throat, pulling your lips back into a thin line.
Some watched in terror others in surprise as your son's throw up met its mark, on Nobunaga's face.
Your son's cries of displeasure followed right after as he felt the a sting in the back of his throat.
"Nobunaga-sama!" Hideyoshi's shocked voice broke everyone out of their stupor.
You didn't have to see Mitsuhide's smile as his snicker was enough to warrant a quick reprimand from Hideyoshi.
A small "oh..." escaped Mitsunari as Masamune and Ieyasu wore matching expressions of silenced shock.
Sighing you made your way to the door, hollering out for some towels and water as Keiji made his way from next to you to gather the child from Nobunaga's hands.
Said lord kept his eyes closed, not uttering a single word as chaos around him ensued. You made your way back over to him towels in one hand and a bowl of water in the other, placing one dampened towel in his free hand and the others on his knee.
Upon lifting your hand with another dampened towel, he holds up his hand to accept the towel from you. "Well..." you begin before finishing "at least your clothes are safe." Time stops as everyone in the room freezes astonished by your statement. "Y/n!!!" Hideyoshi scolds his tone scaring your son even more, you turn as Keiji struggles the fussing baby in his arms. "Hideyoshi please don't scare the baby" Ieyasu chimes in from his spot.
Hideyoshi's retort is cut off as everyone's attention is drawn to the slight chuckle coming from their liege lord. You turn surprise plastered on your face, as he leans forward so as not to get the retch in his mouth while wiping his face with the towels. As his laughter quieted down, you handed him the other towel so you could help your struggling husband.
"You got 'em" Keiji asked as you situated your son in your arms in a way that didn't involve getting the spit up on your kimono. "Yeah" you assured as you gently rocked him in your arms, careful not to agitate him any further. Gently thanking Keiji as he opened the door for you to swiftly exit and change his dirty clothes.
~~~
Sliding the door closed was harder with a 14 pound baby in your other arm. Mitsunari, being closest to the door, rushed from his sitting position to your aid "here" he said reaching behind you to close the door. You quickly thanked him and went to sit by the others, who were huddling around something.
"What's goin' on" Keiji turned at the sound of your honeyed voice, he swears you make his heart stutter every time. Keiji nods towards the center of the circle where multiple items were splayed out on the floor, some laying on the clean towels from earlier. "Awww" you swooned at the sight of baby sandals, several sounds of laughter meet your ears as you slowly sit down.
"Who?"
You asked, eyes a little teary voice wavering with emotion, making your husband's eyes and heart soften. Looking around the room you saw Hideyoshi put up his arm with a slightly bashful smile. You thanked him passionately the tears welling up in your eyes, pregnancy hormones not quite all gone, he waved his hand as he eased you a bright smile on his face.
"Lass" Masamune drew your attention to the small posh in front of you. Your look of confusion melted into one of adoration as he opened the pouch to reveal a small container filled with puréed fruit. Taking the spoon he had with it you gently placed some of the fruit on your son's parted lips. Everyone waited in silence as he contemplated the new flavor invading his senses, you and your husband laugh as your baby lifts his eyebrows in confusion, before using all of his strength to reach for the spoon again.
Your shared laughter was heard from down the hall, laughter that would illuminate your home for years to come.

Ikemen Sengoku Modern AU
Boys as various university professors or teachers--
I'm not elaborating it much for now
Maybe there would be updates idk--
Oda forces
→ Nobunaga Oda (Academic Head/Economics teacher)
He's gonna have a separate drawer in his office FILLED with candies
That drawer has a lock on it all the time (he doesn't want Hideyoshi to find out about it)
→ Hideyoshi Toyotomi (history teacher)
Really looks up to the department head
Very patient with all the students and will help each and every single one of them :)
You'd see him in the halls A LOT
so be careful. If you get caught breaking the rules you WILL be lectured by him
He keeps a check on every teacher's health too- also he would tell you to take it easy if he sees that you're not well
Also pretty good at giving motivational speech
→ Mitsuhide Akechi (computer science)
Okay hear me out. This man will be GOOD with computers and technology.
The event stories prove it
He's the teacher you'll go to every time there's something wrong with your iPad
And he WILL tease you endlessly
→ Mitsunari Ishida (Maths teacher)
For obvious reasons.
Our clumsy but very smart angel.
He'll be very kind. And calmly teach you if you're having trouble with a math problem no matter how many times you come to him
But no matter what you do, you won't be able to get his attention if he's reading
The janitor has caught him several times in the library reading books in a secluded corner when it's late in the night
Librarians sometimes have to kick him out
→ Masamune Date (food tech)
Yes.
I think it's self explanatory (I don't have anything to say about him I'm sorry-)
You'd always. ALWAYS. catch him at the farmers market.
→ Ieyasu Tokugawa (Biology/ chemistry teacher)
Yes.
He knows his stuff when it comes to plant and medicine
He'd be very cranky if you come to his with a question but he will answer it in full detail
He does NOT like the math teacher
The math teacher and the physics teacher seem to constantly fawn over him which he does not enjoy.
→ Keiji Maeda (Drama/music teacher)
Pretty self explanatory this one.
He and the literature teacher are good friends :3
Best friends in fact.
He's the cheery teacher. Very enthusiastic.
→ Ranmaru Mori (teacher assistant)
The principal's assistant to be more specific
Running around doing errands for Nobunaga. Looks very cute and is very helpful
The students love him
Kasugayama forces
→ Kenshin Uesugi (specialist PE teacher/sports department head)
Martial arts. Fencing. Horse riding. Swimming. Sword fighting. You name it
This guys knows EVERYTHING
he trains students in these sports for competitions.
The group sports activities go to the other gym teacher
Very cold. And seems very rude and icy. But will teach you if you ask for his help
Also do NOT expect him to go easy on you
It's your first time learning judo? Will TOO bad. You will be thoroughly beaten up by this guy
→Shingen Takeda (DT/department head)
The hot teacher who's at the carpentry workshop
Many students attend the workshop JUST to see him
Very nice. Flirt to everything that breathes
Loves sweets just like the academics Department head.
But doesn't like Nobunaga at all
→Yukimura Sanada (PE teacher)
The worst PE teacher you'll ever have 💀
Doesn't know how to talk to students or teachers which result in him getting some pretty snarky comments
Is in charge of preparing sports teams for sports competitions
Does not like Kenshin's guys but has to put up with them
He's best friends with the physics teacher and they sometimes show experiments together (yuki is the lab rat of course)
→Sasuke Sarutoki (Physics teacher)
That fun physics teacher that shows experiments in the class
Uses memes in his lectures
All his lectures are extremely fun
The students are often confused as to how does he always has a straight face
The PE teacher is his guinea pig at times
The sports department head has some beef with him for some reason
→ Yoshimoto Imagawa (Arts teacher)
The guy LOVES art and appreciates it to his fullest
This job was MEANT for him
Will appreciate your art and also give you pointers if you ask for it
Very charming
Students fawn over him
Has a very soothing voice along with a pretty face
→ Kanetsugu Naoe (Literature teacher)
Teaches English along with Japanese
Very strict
He's pretty and has little fangs but the students are afraid of him
A very good teacher
But also does some very strict marking in tests
Do not try to fight with him cause he will point out all the grammatic errors
Lone forces
→ Kicho (linguistics teacher)
Teaches other foreign languages
Like French, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, German, arabic, Russian. You name it.
This guy is a genius
He and the computer tech teacher are cousins
Seems very tired always (cough blackholes cough)
→ Motonari Mouri (portugese teacher)
Yes.
No comment on him.
Those who know him well will probably get it.
Will teach you every single curse word there is >:D
→ Kennyo (History teacher/ religious studies)
He does not like how modern studies are taking over
No phones allowed in his class
Very calm but also hella intimidating
Uhhh- does not put up well with the Computer tech teacher's antiques
Usually eats alone outside with cats.
Animals love him <3
Mai
→ Mai Mitsuzaki (Textiles teacher)
Das right. Mah girl gets her own category
The most fashionable teacher on campus
Everyone loves her

ikemen sengoku texting headcanons
doesn't include lone forces, keiji or kanetsugu (sorry)
nobunaga: Makes sure to use proper grammar, as well as commas and periods. Adds "Nobunaga Oda." at the end of every text.
mitsunari and hideoyshi: Love using emojis, specially heart emojis ❤️ They both text like moms
ieyasu: either all lowercase OR ALL CAPS WHEN HE'S PISSED. doesn't use emojis a lot but the only ones he uses are 😐, 😒, 🙄, and 🤦. he likes to pretend he doesn't enjoy texting
ranmaru: uses a lot of heart emojis (including <3), exclamation points, and says "hehe" all the time!! (god bless him)
masamune: Capitalizes Every Word For Some Reason
mitsuhide: he does anything he can to annoy people, and he somehow knows what each person finds more annoying and uses that to his advantage. he says "your" instead of "you're" and vice versa just to piss people off.
shingen: you know this man's most recent emojis always look like this: 😍😘💋💖🌹❤️🔥. otherwise he texts normally
sasuke: all lowercase. uses 😭 a lot + acronyms/abbreviations like btw lmao tbh etc. quotes vines and memes regularly. occasionally uses ":3". also he says "girl" sometimes (like "girl what") and everybody thinks he's talking to mai. mai is the only person that understands any of his texts
kenshin: i feel like he simply can't be bothered to text, but he became a lot more open to the idea once sasuke told him about the knife emoji 🔪. when he does text, he surprisingly texts normally
yoshimoto: ωнσ тσℓ∂ тнιѕ мαη αвσυт ƒαη¢у ƒσηтѕ? 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲𝐬 ☺️, 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 ❤️ 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 🌷.
yukimura: The only normal guy here
#i'd love additions/corrections if anyone has anything to add/change :3#ikesen#ikemen sengoku#ikemen series#cybird ikemen#my stuff

What if the MC adopted an animal, how would the warlords for Ikemen Sengoku react?
Hello! This is such an adorable idea! Thank you for the request.
If MC adopted an animal.
Oda forces.
Nobunaga Oda.
Naturally, he wouldn’t mind giving you an animal as a pet, Nobunaga would want to indulge you in every request you have. Eventually he might get a bit jealous if you give the animal more attention than him, though that is nothing that he can’t fix with a good game of strip Go.
Otherwise, he might even take care of your animal whenever you aren’t around.
Hideyoshi Toyotomi.
Hideyoshi will be a bit overprotective of you in case you take an animal as a pet, depending on what type of animal you adopt. However he will eventually help you with your pet’s adaptation to the castle. He is very good at taking care of others, so your animal will naturally get attached to him.
Masamune date.
Masamune will be excited to see the cute pet you would have adopted, wanting to see it as soon as you bring it home. Having to take care of a tiger cub himself, he knows how to handle pets perfectly, specially on how to play with them. So whenever your animal feels like playing, they will search for him.
Ieyasu Tokugawa.
Ieyasu may act like he doesn’t care, but he is very caring towards animals and has a soft spot for them. He will insist on checking the animal to see if they don’t have any disease or health problem as to not bring problems for the castle, but in reality it’s to know if your pet is ok. Sometimes he will ask you about your pet’s health and if they need a check up.
Mitsuhide Akechi.
Mitsuhide will become curious about your new pet, curious enough that he will manage to attract your animal with a few treats he keeps on himself for chimaki, his pet fox. He won’t do anything bad, as some might imagine. He might become the person that sneaks treats even though your pet has already eaten.
Mitsunari Ishida.
Mitsunari is very gentle and kind, so most animals tend to love him and feel safe around him. Most of them, as Uri, hideyoshi’s pet monkey, doesn’t seem to like him very much since he always forgets her name. Still, your animal will likely feel safe and comfortable around him thanks to his angelic aura. Mitsunari will also be more than happy to meet your pet.
Ranmaru Mori.
Ranmaru adores your animal from the start, wanting to play with it and give it many treats. He will have a soft spot for it. Your animal might feel suspicious of him at first for being a ninja, but your pet will eventually trust Ranmaru completely and feel safer around him.
Keiji.
Keiji might be two faced, but that doesn’t mean that his love for animals are gone once his true face is revealed. In fact, he will continue to have a soft spot for your animal regardless. Even more if your animal is one for wild activities.
Uesugi-Takeda alliance.
Kenshin Uesugi.
It’s only natural that Kenshin would get jealous of anything that gets your attention, he even gets jealous when his own pet bunnies get your attention. Of course, not enough for him to hate the animal, on the contrary, he will become somewhat attached to your animal as well. However, there will be times where it seems that he competes against your pet for your attention.
Shingen takeda.
Shingen will become attached to any animal you have, specially since he will want to dote on him as much as he dotes on you and koro. He will always hold your pet in his arms when he has the chance and will use a softer and more charming voice to talk with them, almost like a baby voice. This might seem too soft, but there was a time when he meowed at Shogetsu, Masamune’s tiger cub.
Yukimura Sanada.
Yukimura will find your animal cute and will want to play with it whenever he can. He might not act like it, but he enjoys playing with animals, there is a reason why muramasa, his pet wolf, loves to be around him so much.
Yoshimoto Imagawa.
Yoshimoto does like animals, specially if they are pleasantly aesthetic. However… he has a problem if the animals are prone to getting dirty and are too energetic. He doesn’t dislike it, but he feels like he doesn’t have the energy to play with them, so depending on what animal you adopt, he might only pat it… with his fan. He likes your animal, but he just isn’t the type to play that much, just pat.
Kanetsugu.
Kanetsugu might be a bit… strict, so he can come off as terrifying and very serious. However, he is very soft and gentle with animals, hence why is pet is a small one. Your animal will feel intimidated at first, but will soon find Kanetsugu to be trustworthy and safe to be around.
Sasuke.
Sasuke might not express it with his face, but he adores animals. So despite keeping a straight face, he will always give your animal treats and pats whenever he sees them, maybe even play a little if he has time. He will get motivated to craft a modern like toy for your animal as well.

Hi dear.
Hope that your holidays have been great and you will have an amazing new year.
Regarding your ikemen event.
What do you say to give Mitsuhide and Ivy Rose a combo (you know I don't mind any of the categories) if memory serves me right, then the last time they were in one of your lovely works, it was the one with the wormhole and it ended on an open cliffhanger ^^
So the scenario could be would they be able to find their way back to each other in time or would they missed their moments by mere seconds.
Sorry, this came to mind when I thought of a scenario, and I blame it on the fact it is well past midnight here right now. xD
It would be the 3 piece with those two and it only seem fair that this ship gets a last one - kind of like Motonari and Ivy Rose have 3. ^^
You are so sweet! Oooh and coming up with a part 2 for Lover Lost! Yes! This was fun ^_^ This story follows Lover Lost - approx 900 words.
The rain fell at a slant. Sharp, cold needles of water that soaked through clothes and turned the skin to ice. Mitsuhide ignored the chill, the shivers that ran up his limbs. The cold wasn’t important. He needed to be out here, to -
“Are you sure this is the one?” Hideyoshi’s voice came through the roar of storm, barely audible despite his shouting.
Mitsuhide gave a tired nod. Surely this one was it. Another of those ‘worm holes’ Sarutobi described. High winds, loud thunder, lightning arcing through the sky. He’d been hunting these storms since one took his Ivy Rose from him.
Hideyoshi moved closer, close enough that Mitsuhide could see his rain-streaked face, wet hair plastered to his head. “You said that last time too!”
“I’m sure. And if not this storm, then the next one.” He walked past Toyotomi, unwilling to have this conversation again. She would come back, he knew. There was no way Ivy Rose wasn’t doing the same thing, wherever she’d ended up when the worm hole took her. Seeking a way back. One of them would succeed. Mitsuhide knew it as surely as he knew the sun would rise.
He pushed ahead as the wind gusts came stronger and more frequently. Above him, branches creaked and there was the sound of cracking wood, as loud as a shot from a tanegashima. The rain was falling so hard now that Mitsuhide could not see past more than a handsbreadth ahead.
Hideyoshi’s hand fell on his shoulder, forcing him to stop. “She’s not here, Mitsuhide. Ivy Rose is gone. You’re just going to get yourself killed like this.”
Mitsuhide pulled out of Hideyoshi’s grasp. “She is not gone.”
He wasn’t sure if Toyotomi heard him or not, and didn’t care. He stumbled on, deeper into the gloom. The storm was a physical force, a pressure against his skin. The hair on his arms and the back of his neck stood up, and his bones felt the shudder of every crash of thunder.
Then there was nothing. A sudden, absolute emptiness. As if Mitsuhide stepped from the rain into an abyss. A place outside of the world, outside of time. Fear gripped his belly, but his heart sang. “Ivy!”
His shout sounded muffled, even to his own ears. “Ivy Rose!” There was no reply. Only the darkness, stretching away from him in every direction. An absence of light, of warmth. Panic welled up in him and he pushed it away. He was the left hand of the Oda. He was Mitsuhide Akechi. And no storm, no void, no worm hole, would keep him from his little one.
Mitsuhide rallied himself. In every situation, there were angles. Connections. Levers. Ways to work and move through them. Surely this place, this thing, had them as well. Even the abyss had to have geography. He stopped stumbling forward, rushing toward nothing, to think.
Behind him was the Sengoku. He’d only walked forward so far, so that meant he had just three directions to consider. Left, right, forward. Any could be right - or wrong. There was no physical sign to give him a clue, which left only the non-physical. Science, magic, and desire. Mitsuhide did not understand Sarutobi’s science, and he was no magician. The only tool he had was his own heart.
He closed his eyes and focused himself on what he wanted. Ivy Rose in his arms again. The scent of her hair, the softness of her lips. Mitsuhide pictured her in minute detail. Remembering every feature, from the freckle on the top of her foot, to the curl of hair just behind her ear. Then, when he held all of her in his mind’s eye, he took a step. Another. And another.
“Mitsuhide?”
His eyes opened to a sudden flash of lightning. The rain roared around him again, and he staggered. The void was gone. Ivy Rose . . .
“Mitsuhide!” And in a heartbeat, she was there. Arms wrapped around him, holding him. Her hands clasping his arms, cupping his cheeks, holding his hands. “It’s you! Really you!”
“Ivy Rose.” His arms went around her. This moment he’d dreamed of for more than a year. It felt as if it could not be real.
She smiled up at him, tears and rain mixing on her cheeks. “I kept looking for a way home. I didn’t know . . . I thought . . .”
He pulled her close, holding her so tight that for a moment, neither of them could breathe. “You came back.”
“You found me.”
“Nothing will take you from me again.” Mitsuhide kissed her forehead, her cheeks, her lips. He didn’t notice the spill of tears from his own eyes, nor his ragged breath. “Nothing.”
Ivy Rose clung to him, kissed him back. “Nothing,” she agreed.
He lifted her into his arms and carried her back toward Azuchi castle. His heart felt full as if to burst, and he still couldn’t quite convince himself this was real and not a dream. That his Ivy Rose would still be in his arms instead of dissipating with the dawn.
“I’m going to hold you until the sun comes up.” He kissed her temple.
“Longer than that, I hope,” she smiled up at him.
“Much longer.”

The winter was a chilling season, she expected it, she knew it and yet nothing could have ever prepared Juliet for how cold the weather would have become after the winter solstice.
In an attempt to warm herself up Juliet rubbed her hands together, tightening her haori around her shoulder, even though nothing could shield her from the frizzy wind grazing her face and messing up her hair, with a heavy sigh she forced herself to walk until she reached a secluded place on the the patio, too lost in thoughts until a voice pulled her out of her reveries.
“Good morning Julie.”
“Ahh.”
Unable to hide her surprise she jumped on the spot before turning to look at the guest, even though his smooth voice gave his identity away before his looks could.
“I beg your pardon if I scared you.”
Rebel raven locks scattered by the wind framing a pair of tourmaline eyes much alike her own caught her attention as she tilted her head to a side feigning composure.
“Oh no please don’t worry Kicho.”
“Kennyo didn’t tell you I was coming ?”
“He didn’t tell me, no.”
“I see …”
The light of anger masked as dissatisfaction didn’t fly unnoticed to her trained eyes warming her heart at his over protectiveness.
“When did you arrive ?”
“Not too long ago, I was wondering where you were when a disciple told me they saw you around the main hall.”
“Oh yes this must have been Ping, he is such a gossiper.”
Juliet shook her head amused at the disciple's antics, all the while she did her best to keep her haori closed as much as she could even though the frizzy wind threatened to make it slip through her fingers.
“You must be freezing in this weather, it’s better if we go somewhere warmer.”
“I agree, lean on me and I will lead you the way.”
As promised she guided him through the halls before sliding a shoji door that opened without issue, a smirk danced on Juiet’s lips at the astounded gaze in Kicho’ eyes as he took in the sight of her place.
The room was fully decorated with finest pieces of art, brocades of various shades of green adorned the tapestry, a pair of soft armchairs were placed around a low table decorated with a golden filigree, a bookcase whose books shone under the light of the chandelier made with heavy crystals pendant swayed quietly in the breeze alike the suncatcher placed next to the entrance, all the while the warm light of the candles reflected on the painted surface of the japanese lanterns standing at each corner of the room all the while next to a window opening on the garden stood a sofa in front of an high table where it was placed a tea set of fine china betraying its westerneer origins from the bold colors of the scenery painted on the candid ceramic.
“Please take a seat”
“Thank you for having me.”
With an elegance she rarely saw in a man he sat on the sofa looking straight at her as she took place in front of him, all the while she did her best to ignore his gaze seeing his tourmaline eyes watching closely her every movement as she brewed the tea.
“Juliet, tell me the truth.”
She tilted her head to a side, confusion flickered in her gaze as she looked at him, reading something merciless in his usually listless tourmaline eyes.
“Was he neglecting you again?”
“What ?”
“Kennyo is still a workaholic ?”
All the while Kicho talked his handgun slipped from his kimono shining in the dim light of the lantern as he carefully polished the barrel with his cape, a promise and a threat she couldn’t help but feel flattered to see, proof of how much he cared for her in his own peculiar way.
“Oh no, not at all”
Though flattered she fretted over to add, desiring to quiet his anger and reassure him Kennyo was indeed paying her more than enough attention, as the soreness of her muscle gently reminded her of.
“I am glad to hear that.”
Swiftly he placed the gun back in his pouch all the while wrapping his long fingers around the cup of tea admiring the western style of its embroidery before slowly sipping from it, though the quietness of that moment was interrupted as the door rattled open, placing her teacup on the saucer she ran to throw her arms around the sudden guest.
“Kennyo, welcome back.”
“I didn’t expect you there, the children already returned home ?”
“Yes you see I thought it was going to snow and so I dismissed them early …”
She looked anxiously up at him, torturing with her fingers the hem of his shawl.
“You did a good job.”
His words were enough to placate her doubts along the gentle kiss he placed on her forehead making a smile so bright to outshone the sun appear on her rosy lips.
“Please join us. I will pour you a cup of tea. You must be freezing in this weather.”
“Not much, I am used to colder ones.”
“Oh please don’t play though.”
“I am not.”
Only the smack of Juliet's lips on his cheek was enough to cut off Kennyo’s words, making a light blush crept up on his cheek, confusion took over his grey eyes as he met a pair of tourmaline ones gazing at him from above the steaming tea cup.
“I didn’t expect you there.”
“I figured as much, haven’t you received my letter ?”
“Not yet, the correspondence must have been on hold since the snow started.”
“I see … you have nothing to worry about anyway I came to bring you something I thought could have been useful.”
Juliet tilted her head to a side looking at Kennyo, whose eyes mirrored her confusion, at the lack of understanding Kicho sighed heavily, placing a packet on the table a golden ribbon stood out on the plain paper catching her gaze.
“Open it … or don’t either way it’s yours now do with it as you see fit.”
Chartreuse's eyes sparkling with excitement she took it into her own hands, gently offering it to Kennyo only to smile when he held it for her so she could tug at the ribbon.
“What is this ?”
Kennyo took off a piece of forest green fabric, holding it into his own hands staring at it from each angle all the while Juliet twirled another emerald one around her fingers.
“Europeans found this to be useful when they travel around. I suppose you may call it a cape.”
“A cape …”
“Yes I am sure you are familiar with it, it’s a sort of haori but is generally longer and wider, I made Mai sew it using velvet in this way it would be warmer.”
“I love it.”
Juliet clutched it to her chest before swiftly wrapping it around her shoulder, swirling around herself in the room feigning ignorance at the gaze of the two men, staring at her like she was the sun.
“I am happy to hear that I will extend the compliments to the seamstress.”
Once Kennyo had finished studying it, he finally tried to put it on something she didn't shy away to help him with, a bright smile curled on her lips as she caressed the fabric tracing with her fingers a pawn stamp above his chest.
“Look Kennyo, my golden embroidery matches yours.”
As ever when she smiled Kenny found himself unable to be upset, particularly about Kicho's sudden arrival.
“It suits you well.”
“Ahhh thank you. I am so happy.”
The openness in which Juliet showed her feelings was something that never stopped surprising Kennyo, at first he thought that to be weird but in the long run he came to see that he always deep down found that part of her extremely endearing.
“We are very grateful for the gifts … may I ask what spired you to give them ?”
“Juliet mentioned how cold the weather was and I thought a fitting gift to give her something warmer than the haori she usually wore, since it would have made her happy if she had not been the only one to receive something, I made Mai sew one for you too.”
“Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated.”
“I am more than pleased that my gifts were of your liking. I would very much stay with you longer but I better go lest the roads to Sakai will become impracticable once more and I would hate to leave Mai alone for so long.”
“Thank you for visiting us Kicho and for the gifts. Please thank Mai in my stead for sewing them.”
“I will.”
Ever the gentleman Kicho greeted her smacking a kiss on each one of her cheeks, smoking as she did the same, only to reciprocate the small hug he pulled him in, reluctantly he broke away bowing to them both before leaving the room, still riding on her enthusiasm she twirled around the room with her cape around her shoulder bringing Kennyo in for an improvised dance, smiling at the sight of their matching green capes flowing around their frames as they waltzed around the room, happiness clear on his features as they settled back on the sofa, his huge frame engulfing her smaller one as he wrapped his arms around her, keeping her close as she blissfully nuzzled in his chest smiling as she looked up at him whose grey eyes crinkled with affection overflowing in his bright, tender smile.

“Sasuke. Please explain why this woman is in Azuchi after you helped her the night of Honno-ji.” Kenshin spoke decisively but didn’t even spare a glance for his ninja. Instead he watched Mai like a cat observing a rodent.
“Lord Kenshin, this is Mai. She was on a pilgrimage to Azuchi because she has a job working for a warrior family here.”
“Working for a warrior family or joining them?” Yuki snarked.
“I said I was sorry Yuki. I seriously-“
“If you think I’m going to forgive your tendency of tackling and attacking people, boar woman, you’ve-”
“Call me that one more time and I’ll kick you and mean it!” She warned.
“I’d like to see you try it.” Yuki glared.
“Yukimura it is usually protocol to remember someone’s name especially if a friend of yours introduces them to you. Isn’t that right Lord Kenshin?”
“Why would I bother to remember the name of a suspicious woman when I can just kill her?” Kenshin asked his cold eyes holding her captive.
“There will be no killing my friend either, Lord Kenshin!” Sasuke intervened actually moving to stand between her and his liege lord. Obviously he seemed the more viable threat in Sasuke’s eyes. “Mai is my friend. She speaks a similar dialect as I do and we discovered we come from the same region. I’ve been trying to help her settle in here. She’s been kind enough not to say anything about us sneaking around enemy territory. She has my trust and Yuki’s also. Right Yuki?”
“I trust her mouth if not her feet.” Yuki admitted.
“I said I was sorry.” Mai sighed. “Seriously, two ronin just tried to beat a guy up. Things like that don’t usually happen on my lunch break! All my self-defense instincts are on overload.”
“She speaks the truth.” Kenshin said but he still seemed skeptical. “Very well. Swear on your life that you will not betray us to Lord Nobunaga or any of his subordinates. If you break your vow your life will be forfeit to me.”
Mai gasped. Her life? Man these guys took promises seriously. She glanced at Sasuke who seemed at a loss for what to say to his sword-happy liege.
Suddenly Kenshin’s sword was at her throat. “Your oath, woman, or I take your head.”
She stared into those ice cold eyes. One green one blue yet both otherworldly.
“Lord Kenshin-” Sasuke started to object.
“I swear I will not betray you.” She spoke the words he asked for and she meant them. She had no intention of betraying Sasuke or the other’s to the Oda forces. It wasn’t her place to start the war prematurely. Also having war break out in the middle of Azuchi would have consequences she did not want to think about. .“I won’t reveal that you were in Azuchi. Not to your enemies or anyone else.”
“Very well.” Kenshin sheathed his sword. “Sasuke I’ll be at your safe house. See to her arm before sending her away.”
With that Kenshin disappeared around the corner into the streets. Mai couldn’t help a relieved sigh.
That was one warlord who was far too sword happy for her liking.
“I’m sorry Mai.” Sasuke spoke sheepishly, “I’ve tried to convince him that threatening the lives of strangers does not leave a good impression.”
“Threatening the lives of allies doesn’t either yet he continues to do it on a regular basis.” Yuki grimaced as he got to his feet. “As pleasant as this visit has been, boar woman, I think I’m going to take my leave.”
She glared at him. Then she noticed the weary sigh that escaped Sasuke and decided to cut her favorite ninja a break. “I really am sorry Yuki. I need to head home for today but some other time could I please treat you to lunch or something as an apology? I really really did not mean to attack you on the second day I’ve known you.”
Yuki paused his departure and glanced at Sasuke who shrugged.
“Fine. Meet me tomorrow at mid-day at my booth. The afternoons are usually slow anyway.”
“Ok! I’ll be there!” She sighed with relief.
“No kicking anyone though. Got it?”
“I swear! I will take the entire day off from kicking people.”
“Good. See you later Sasuke.”
With that Yukimura disappeared down the ally. Sasuke drew closer and lifted her injured arm to inspect it.
Oh yeah, Kenshin ordered him to do this. She hadn’t expected Kenshin to recall she was injured during that scuffle. That he would ask his own ninja to check on her, however, was almost as confusing as the rest of the experience. “It looks like the muscles have been strained but nothing serious. It will likely bother you for several days however. I’d rest it as much as possible so it can heal properly.”
After that observation Sasuke took out a salve to apply to the swollen part of her wrist and elbow.
“Thank you for helping me Sasuke.”
“After my liege lord threatened to kill you? It’s the least I can do. I really am sorry about him. He isn’t normally so-”
“Stabby?”
“Aggressive. At least not when it comes to women. Usually he acts like they are invisible or interacts with them as little as humanly possible.”
“He doesn’t like women?” She asked.
“More like he doesn’t acknowledge their existence. So that he noticed you and remembered who you were?” Sasuke shrugged, “I’m just really surprised.”
“Sasuke…are you safe working for Kenshin?” She asked hesitantly. She felt like she was trying to offer an abuse victim an opportunity to ask for help.
“Safe wouldn’t be the term I’d use. However, despite the impression he just gave you Kenshin is actually very strict as far as his code of ethics. He would never act dishonorably towards a subordinate. Also, he would never intentionally harm someone weaker than himself outside of battle. He does often express affection in odd ways. However, I wouldn’t be the ninja I am today without him.”
Despite his tranquil demeaner Sasuke spoke rather emphatically of his Lord’s good qualities. Someone who had earned Sasuke’s trust had to have his good points-right? Mai decided if she ever ran into Kenshin again she’d make an effort to not set him off. Hopefully then she might see some of the better points Sasuke saw in him.
After Sasuke walked her back to the outskirts of the castle Mai hurried inside. Hideyoshi was expecting her to return with the special candy he had asked her to pick up as a surprise for Lord Nobunaga.
Hideyoshi’s dark expression, however, was not the greeting she had hoped for.
“I take it I’m late?”
“Not just late, Mai, I’d say especially late. It is nearly dark and you left before lunchtime.” Hideyoshi scolded her. “I don’t mind if you window shop a bit while you are out on an errand but making me worry something happened to you like this is unacceptable.”
“I am so sorry I worried you. I truly did not intend to take so long.” She even bowed to him apologetically. The last thing she needed was another warlord angry at her today. “Azuchi is so much larger than I realized and it took me much longer to get back than I though it would. I promise I will be much more conscientious about returning early enough not to worry you again.”
“Were you able to pickup Lord Nobunaga’s candy like I asked?” Hideyoshi seemed to accept the apology at least.
“I did! Here.” She handed over the bag of konpeito she’d found at the shop Hideyoshi had asked her to visit. “I was also able to find the sewing items I needed at the shop you told me about.”
“I’m glad to hear it. Now, I was wondering if you’d be interested in doing some repair work on a Haori Coat for Lord Nobunaga?”
“What?!” Mai was really surprised especially because Hideyoshi had still seemed so suspicious of her.
She’d been doing her best to earn her trust but if a poison needle were to show up in his coat Hideyoshi would be most likely to blame her! “Are you sure you trust me to do that?”
Hideyoshi actually laughed at her incredulous response. “Of course I would. It is a small repair and I felt it might give you an opportunity to show him some gratitude for giving you a place here in Azuchi.”
Mai blushed. She really hadn’t been able to show much gratitude to Lord Nobunaga. Well not in the way he expected her too. She’d dodged his attention whenever she could. He seemed to be reluctant to enjoy her company against her will and Mai was relieved about that. Still how do you show gratitude to a guy who gave you food shelter protection and a job?!
“I’d be grateful for the opportunity Hideyoshi. Please let me know if there is any thing else—er—sewing-wise I can do for Lord Nobunaga. I would be happy to express my gratitude to him in that manner.”
“I’ll keep that in mind. Now get some rest. I’m sure you’ve had a long day. I left a tray of food in your room so you wouldn’t go hungry.”
“I-you did?”
“Well a spy can’t really be interrogated if she dies before I find out who she works for.”
Mai gasped. Did he really think that?!!
Hideyoshi’s laughter made her turn an even brighter red than before and she wanted to scamper off to her room to hide. Instead she braced herself and bowed to him again.
“You have been especially patient and accommodating Lord Hideyoshi. I am so sorry to be such a burden. If there is any way I can ever thank you—”
She broke off when Hideyoshi used his fingers to tip her chin upward prompting her to stand up straight.
“I appreciate the gratitude Mai, but there’s no need to bow to me. I’m happy to do it and I’d be happy just to hear you say thank you.”
She looked up into his handsome face and her heart seemed to be climbing up her throat making it difficult to speak. Seriously she’d been around way too many attractive warlords lately.
They did go into battle sometimes right? Shouldn’t they come home a little marred afterward or at least significantly less perfect? She thought of Lord Masamune’s eyepatch and the hallway immediately felt warmer. Okay even if Hideyoshi and the others lost a finger or an ear or something they’d still probably be outstandingly hot. It was a lost cause to wish that her heart could spend a few peaceful moments in the Sengoku Era not overacting to one handsome man or another.
“Thank you Lord Hideyoshi.” She said.
He smiled and she was once again reminded of why he was possibly the most eligible bachelor in Azuchi.
“You’re very welcome Mai. Here is the parcel with Lord Nobunaga’s coat. Just get it back to me when you’re finished ok?”
“Okay.”
“Goodnight!”
“Goodnight, Lord Hideyoshi.”
Mai watched him disappear down the hallway before heading for her room. Inside she found the food he had left for her and scarfed it down hungrily. She then opened the parcel that held Lord Nobunaga’s Haori to inspect what needed repaired.
She knew Hideyoshi meant what he said about her gratitude. For him a simple thank you was sufficient.
Yet she couldn’t help feeling like she somehow still wanted to show him she was grateful. So instead of going to bed she lit some extra candles and began to work on repairing the coat.
As she did Kenshin’s words from that afternoon came back to her.
"Don't cut yourself. The edges will be sharp."
She paused mid-stitch realizing how kind he had actually been to her. He had helped her pick up the pieces of the shattered bowl. Commanded Sasuke to check her arm—
Yet before all that he had saved her life.
Kenshin Uesugi had saved her.
What would have happened with those two ronin if he hadn’t intervened? She might have escaped, yes, but Kenshin had stopped them. She had only had the power to intervene. He had the power to change what was happening and chose too.
“I didn’t thank him. I didn’t even think…”
The realization stung and she was suddenly so angry with herself.
She continued sewing trying to come up with some way to express her gratitude to Kenshin for saving her. He didn’t like women so asking him to a tea house like she had Yuki would likely be more torturous than—
Yuki!! She was supposed to see Yuki tomorrow!!
Mai was suddenly very excited.
She could ask Yuki what she could do to thank lord Kenshin for saving her! Of course if he didn’t have any ideas she could always have him lead her to Sasuke and her ceiling ninja would certainly have a brilliant idea!
The idea made her especially happy and she began humming unconsciously as she continued to mend Lord Nobunaga’s coat.

Ikemen Sengoku (JP)
Kicho's Main Story Chapter 1 Part 1
I didn't proofread this one, so expect a LOT of mistakes.
Translation under the cut.
(What the hell is going on?)
The future changed, and the travel guide turned completely blank.
Suddenly, a thought crossed my mind as I noticed these changes.
(Wait a sec, how is that even possible?)
(Because three months ago, when I came here, nothing like this ever happened.)
Three months ago, I was transported back to the Sengoku era and saved Nobunaga at the burning Honnoji Temple.
Because of this, I had to live in Azuchi Castle as a symbol of Japan's unification and as the chatelaine of the Oda forces.
(Nobunaga died as a result of the Honnoji Incident.)
(I'm not familiar with history, but I remember hearing this story in class.)
(Still, I don't think changing that history would've made the pages go blank like this.)
I took my eyes off the travel guide and looked up at Azuchi Castle again.
Seeing the once magnificent Tenshu burnt to a crisp made me feel like something worse than this was about to happen.
(It's the same as back then.)
(I feel like I should do something, but I don't know what I should do.)
Two weeks ago
Mitsunari: "You're here, Lady Mai."
Mai: "Mitsunari."
I turned around, still holding my book, hearing his voice calling from behind me.
Mitsunari: "Are you working? I'm sorry for stopping you."
Mai: "No. I'm just going to put this back in the library."
(As always, you're so caring, Mitsunari.)
Back when I decided to become a chatelaine, it was Mitsunari who immediately helped me.
He not only gave me the information I needed but also helped me when I had problems in my daily life.
(Thanks to him, I'm now used to living in this war-torn country.)
(I'm so grateful because there was a lot I didn't understand.)
Mitsunari: "Library? Thank you for always being there for us."
Mitsunari: "I've found it especially tidy and easy to spend time in there recently."
Mai: "I'm glad to hear that."
(I didn't do much, but I'm glad he's happy.)
(Even though things were going crazy, I'm grateful they let me live here.)
(I need to do what I can to help, even if it's just a little.)
Mai: "Oh, by the way, what did you want to see me about?"
Mitsunari: "Oh, right. Everyone has been asking for you."
Mai: "Everyone?"
Mitsunari's lighthearted words made me nod my head.
Masamune: "Mai, we've been looking for you."
Ieyasu: "We couldn't find you, so we thought you got lost again."
Mai: "Masamune, Ieyasu!"
They walked toward us from the other side of the hallway.
Mitsunari: "Don't worry. Lady Mai already knows everything in the castle."
Mitsunari: "Right?"
Mai: "Not everything, but I've memorized most of the places."
Masamune: "I see. Well, you've been here for quite a while."
Ieyasu: "Quite a while? I think it's only been a couple of months."
Masamune: "For her, it's probably been a long time."
As if asking me for my agreement, his deep blue eye turns toward me.
(I see. It's been more than two months since I came here.)
Mai: "Hmm. It seemed like a long time, but it happened so fast."
Ieyasu: "So, which is it?"
Mai: "I wonder which one it is?"
Ieyasu: "*sigh* Don't ask me."
Masamune: "Well, let's put that aside for now. Let's go back to my palace."
Mai: "Is there something going on?"
Masamune: "Yup. I got some good vegetables, so I thought I'd let you try some."
Masamune: "I made it into a stew. It's pretty good."
Mai: "Vegetable stew!?"
Ieyasu: "Then, let's stop by my place first."
Ieyasu: "You said the other day your wrist hurts, so I have some medicine that will help you."
Masamune: "Heh? So you went to pick medicinal herbs the other day.”
Ieyasu: "Not really. I just happened to have some leftovers and thought I'd share them with her."
Mai: "You guys..."
One thing I've learned since coming to this castle is not only how kind Mitsunari is.
I also learned that Masamune is easy to talk to, and the food he cooks is exquisite. Ieyasu, although aloof at first, is kind and gentle deep down.
(I wish I could go with them, but一)
Mai: "Um, I got some errands to run later."
Mai: "Your feelings are highly appreciated, though."
Masamune: "Really? Well, I'll feed you next time I find something good."
Ieyasu: "And the medicine, too. Come and get it whenever you feel like it."
Mai: "Okay! Thank you!"
Holding the book in my arms, I bowed my head and quickly walked away.
(I want to, but I can't. I can't let myself get too involved.)
Ieyasu sighed as Mai turned down the hallway and was out of sight.
Ieyasu: "There she goes again."
Mitsunari: "Maybe she's still being cautious."
Masamune: "Back when she first came to the castle, she always got lost."
Masamune: "Heck, she didn't even know how to properly wear a kimono."
Mitsunari: "Yes, it did appear that way."
Mitsunari: "When I first met her at Honnoji, she was wearing unusual clothes, so maybe she's from a different country."
Masamune: "You mean she's a foreigner? If so, where did she come from?"
Mitsunari: "No idea. Maybe she said those strange things because she was scared of the fire."
Mitsunari: "Perhaps her memory is a little hazy."
Ieyasu: "..............."
Mitsunari: "Well, it's only been two months. Let's help her get used to it slowly from now on."
Masamune: "You're right."
[Mitsuhide is watching from a distance.]
Mitsuhide: "I see."
Mitsuhide: "Mai, huh?"
(Let's see, I should go to the place marked with these glasses.)
After parting with everyone, I put away the books and went down the castle, holding a small note in my hand and carefully counting the number of paths I passed so I wouldn't get lost.
(I'm not really familiar with this place. I mean, yeah. I sometimes come here to do some shopping, but I'm always with someone else.)
Unlike inside the castle, the probability of running into someone who might know me here was slim.
That was why I avoided walking alone like this to avoid getting lost.
(But not today. Because一)
Sasuke: "Hi, Mai."
Mai: "Sasuke! Long time no see!"
Sasuke: "Sorry for calling you out so suddenly."
Mai: "No, it's okay. Thanks for calling. What's up?"
Sasuke: "Let's go somewhere a little quieter."
Sasuke: "There's a teahouse nearby. If you don't mind, why don't we go there?"
Mai: "Sure!"
Sasuke: "Here you go. Want the one with the red bean paste on it?"
Mai: "Sure. Thanks."
Sasuke gave me a teacup and a plate with dangos on it.
(Wow, it's been a long time since I've had this.)
(It looks so yummy.)
Sasuke: "You must really love it."
Mai: "Huh?"
Sasuke: "The dango. Your eyes are sparkling."
Mai: "Really? It's been a while since I ate something sweet."
Mai: "I never imagined I would be eating in a teahouse in the Sengoku era with my friend."
Sasuke: "So this is your first time? That's surprising."
Mai: "Is it?"
------------Flashback------------
Sasuke: "One more thing, don't get deeply involved with the people of this time."
Mai: "What do you mean by getting deeply involved?"
Sasuke: "That is to say, don't fall in love. It might cloud your desire to return to the future."
Mai: "Love!? Nope! There is no way of that happening."
Sasuke: "I hope so."
---------Flashback Ends---------
(Yeah, there's no way I'll fall in love.)
(Though, after living in the castle and interacting with everyone, my impression of them has changed drastically.)
(Everyone here is fighting and risking their lives for the sake of Japan.)
(Without them, the Japan we know in the future wouldn't exist.)
I realized that my fear had completely disappeared, which is why I needed to keep my distance.
Mai: "I'm not from this era, so doing something like that is irresponsible, and I can't get too deep into people I'll never see again."
Sasuke: "I see."
(One more month to go. If I can get over that, I can go back to my old life.)
(Also, there's my dream to work as a designer.)
I put my mind to it and took a bite of the dango.
Mai: "Wow, yummy! Hey, want some?"
Sasuke: "Mai."
He turned toward me with a slightly strained look on his face, and even through his glasses, I could see the puzzled look in his eyes.
(I wonder why. I have a bad feeling about this.)
Sasuke: "I need you to calm down and listen."
Sasuke: "There's a chance we might not make it back to the future."
Mai: *pant* *pant*
After parting with Sasuke, I ran as fast as I could down the road to the castle, and as soon as I entered my room, I sat down slumped on the floor.
(How is this possible?)
(I can't believe the wormhole suddenly disappeared.)
Sasuke's explanation was quite simple. The wormhole we thought would appear in three months had been acting strangely for some time.
And last night, it seemed to have completely deviated from the data on which it was based.
Now he doesn't know when or where it will appear or even if it will appear in the first place.
I can't get Sasuke's pained voice out of my head as he apologizes repeatedly.
(It's not Sasuke's fault.)
(Now that this happened, I need to find what I can do and take action.)
(But一)
I was supposed to become a designer for a small fashion brand in the future, but in this turbulent world, I am a nobody, despite my given titles of princess and chatelaine.
(What can I do?)
I sighed as sweat ran down my face.
???: "Mai, are you in there?"
Mai: "----!"
(This voice一)
I got up and opened the door to find Hideyoshi standing there, smiling.
Hideyoshi: "Sorry to interrupt. I came here to talk to you."
Mai: "Talk?"
Hideyoshi asked me to help out the seamstresses in the castle.
Feeling as if I was being offered a helping hand, I nodded in agreement.
Because of this, I had to accompany them on shopping trips to distant places as part of my work.
It was during this time I received the news of the attack on Azuchi Castle.
(Maybe the disappearance of the wormhole was a sign of this.)
(What's going to happen to this country if the future that was supposed to happen disappears even after saving Nobunaga's life?)
Mitsuhide: "Mai."
Mai: "Waah!"
(Where did you come from!?)
I hurriedly closed the guidebook and immediately saw him.
Mitsuhide: "What's that?"
Mai: "Um, I got this book while shopping. I thought it might come in handy."
Mitsuhide: "Oh? You're quite dedicated to your work."
Mitsuhide: "I'd let you read it, but the castle is not a suitable place for that right now."
Mai: "Okay. Um, you all are safe, right?"
Mitsuhide: "Yes."
(Thank goodness.)
Though I knew about it from the news, it was still a relief to hear it from him directly.
Mitsuhide: "But this is just the beginning."
Mitsuhide: "By the hand of that man, Japan is about to change again."
(Huh?)
Mai: "That man?"
Mitsuhide: "Are you curious?"
Mai: "Well, yeah. You're talking about the perpetrator, right?"
Mitsuhide: "Yes."
Mitsuhide: "Kicho."
Mitsuhide: "That's the name of the man who destroyed Tenshu and ignited sparks in this turbulent world."
Nobunaga: "Mai, you're back."
Mai: "Yes. Long time no see."
Nobunaga: "I didn't expect you to volunteer to attend a military council."
Mai: "I've been thinking about a lot of things. Please let me hear at least what you have to say."
I bowed my head deeply, and the air in the hall grew heavy, causing me to move awkwardly.
(I've only attended a few meetings, but today's tension is even worse than usual.)
(That's how serious the situation is.)
The military councils that had been held over the past three months were mainly about skirmishes that were taking place in various places.
As the chatelaine, I was occasionally called in to share information, but the talks were full of unfamiliar names of places, which made me feel like an outsider.
(I'm not from here.)
(Until now, I've been a bystander, but that's no longer the case.)
???: "Heh? So you're the rumored princess?"
???: "Mai, right? You have very nice eyes."
Mai: "Thank you."
(He suddenly praised me!)
Keiji: "I'm Keiji Maeda. The most eccentric guy in the Oda army."
Keiji: "Don't be shy. Feel free to call me Keiji."
Mai: "Okay. Nice to meet you, Keiji."
Keiji: "Yeah. Now that I've said my name, this guy is next."
???: "Whoa!"
Keiji's large hand slapped the back of the young man next to him.
The young man turned his large eyes toward us, his soft hair swinging along with his hair accessory.
Ranmaru: "I'm Ranmaru Mori. Lord Nobunaga's page."
Ranmaru: "I prefer it if you could talk to me less formally, just like Lord Keiji."
Mai: "Then I'll call you Ranmaru."
Ranmaru: "Hehe, okay."
(Keiji has a friendly smile, and Ranmaru has an idol-like smile.)
(I guess I was so nervous that I didn't notice the two of them.)
Mitsuhide: "They've both been away from the castle for a while."
Mitsuhide: "Keiji returned after getting information that there was going to be an attack, and Ranmaru returned after seeing the attack."
Masamune: "It's pretty impressive that he went undercover at the mastermind's place."
Mai: "So that means Keiji was with Kicho!?"
(That's so bold of him!)
Nobunaga: "You know Kicho?"
Mai: "Yes. Mitsuhide just told me earlier, but do you know him too?"
Ieyasu: "Of course. He was originally a member of the Oda army."
Mai: "What!?"
Hideyoshi: "We were friends who wanted to accomplish unification."
Hideyoshi: "He disappeared three years ago and has been missing ever since, but I never thought he would rebel."
Hideyoshi gripped his fist tightly as his expression contorted一a mixture of anger and sadness.
Nobunaga: "We can't let him do what he wants any longer."
Nobunaga: "But he is a tricky man. We need to know his moves as soon as possible to take countermeasures."
Mai: "That's why Keiji came back, right?"
Mitsuhide: "Mai. Do you think we dared him to attack the Tenshu of this castle?"
Mitsuhide: "Do you think we allowed the enemy to get close enough for the iron ball to reach?"
Mai: "No. But that means..."
Mitsunari: "That's the unknown threat."
Mitsunari: "Even if you check every possible book in the library at Azuchi Castle, you won't find that big cannon."
Masamune: "That's why we need information."
Ieyasu: "But it won't be easy."
Ieyasu: "We've already located him, but he knows the faces and names of our soldiers."
(I see. That's why the Oda army is at a disadvantage.)
(Kicho is their former comrade, and he is acquainted with all of them.)
Mai: "Oh..."
Mitsuhide: "What's wrong?"
Mai: "He never met me before."
The words that slipped out of my mouth caught everyone's attention.
(What should I do? I feel like I said something really unnecessary!)
(But I'm the one who decided not to be a bystander.)
(For that reason, I have to make sense of my being here.)
Mai: "I'll go. No, let me go!"
At that time, I still didn't know the horrors of the battlefield that I had yet to see, the sorrow carried by a justice that would shake Japan, and the life-shaking moments of falling in love.
Kicho's subordinate: "Lord Kicho, excuse me."
Kicho: "Yeah."

Decisions - Chapter Two
Fandom: Ikemen Sengoku
Pairing: Nobunaga X MC
That night, she went to each warlord and gave them a tight hug. “I’m going away for a while to see a friend.” Each warlord looked at her with concern, easily reading between the lines. Nobunaga was working late once again, and she took advantage of packing everything that would fit into her bag, leaving the rest behind. Hoping Nobunaga arrived just as she was tying her bag. “You’re awake?” She nodded. “Yep.” He noticed the travel bag. “Going somewhere?” She didn’t look up, just proceeded to tie the bag. “Yep.” Her short answers had an intentional sting, and they started irritating Nobunga. He stepped closer. “Where?” That’s when she looked up.
“To see my friend from my home.” He raised an eyebrow; he knew where her home was, and he knew that this friend was an enemy ninja, and if she was staying with him, that meant she would be in Echigo. Could she potentially be in danger from being the Oda Princess? He had to let it go for now. He was walking on eggshells so as not to upset her. He felt the tension emanating from her and knew something wasn’t right.
“For how long?” She put the bag in the corner of the room. “For as long as I need. Things aren’t right between us. You’ve noticed, haven’t you?” He looked down. “Yes,” She turned towards him. “I need to figure out what I want. I need some space.” That’s when it hit him. “You’re leaving me?” She swallowed. “Not exactly.” He crossed his arms. “What does that mean? I don’t understand.” She scoffed. “It means I’m not happy, and I’m taking some time to clear my head.” Forcing back the tears that were threatening to escape, she inhaled deeply. “I need this right now, Nobunaga.” He crossed the room and stood in front of her. “I can see that I’ve hurt you. That’s the last thing I wanted.”
She saw the sadness swirling behind his eyes, “You said you’re going to see your friend from home? Does that mean you’re going back to your time?” The way he asked with his voice low made her heart hurt. She was hurting him. “no, I’m not going back to my time; he talked me out of that.” Nobunaga ran his hand through his hair, feeling frustrated. “You were going to?” She turned towards him. “I wanted to for a moment, but I was emotional.” A deep crease formed between Nobunaga’s brows as he listened to her.
The hurt was evident on her face, and he knew he had caused it. “it’s not all your fault, Nobunaga. I could have said something but didn’t, so you didn’t know. How could you have?” She said, then picked up the bag and looked at him as if memorizing his face. Finally, she quietly spoke “I leave tomorrow morning.” He didn’t realize she would leave so soon. He could’ve made time for her, but he could have made time for her dozens of other times. He had gotten so comfortable in their relationship that he didn’t think something like this would ever happen. He saw the signs but ignored them. He now realized the more he ignored them, the more he hurt her, and now it was too late.
Fighting back the emotion bubbling up, Nobunaga cleared his throat, although his voice was still hoarse. “I love you, you know that, right?” She threw the bag over her shoulder. “I love you too, Nobunaga.” He brushed his knuckles against her cheek. “If this is what you need, then I won’t get in your way. Just know I’ll be waiting for you.”
He paused as he looked at the bag she held over her shoulder. “You’re not staying with me tonight, are you?” She shook her head, “I think it’d be too awkward. She put her hand on his chest. “Goodnight, Nobunaga, I’ll write you when I can.” He nodded. “I hope that you do.” She leaned up and kissed his cheek. “Thank you for letting me do this.” He looked at her perplexed. “I’m not going to force you to stay; I love you enough to give you the space you need.” He searched her eyes and kissed her forehead, closing his eyes as he did so, taking in the feel of her skin against his lips. She gave him a sad smile when he pulled away and left the tenshu, sliding the door shut.
She took a deep breath, and her eyes filled with tears as she walked to her room, passing by Hideyoshi. He looked at her with concern, but she picked up her pace and quickly passed him. It was obvious to him that she wanted to be alone. He looked in the direction she had come from. Hideyoshi sighed, wondering how Nobunaga was doing with all of this, knowing how fiercely he loved her. Nobunaga was clearly letting her go without a fight. Not that he expected anything else from his lord, Hideyoshi knew that they were both hurting. Maybe space would be good for both of them.
The air in the palace had become tense and awkward; Nobunaga had sent for a bottle of sake to drink his emotions away. He went to the balcony, gazing at the stars shining above him. He had known loneliness before she walked into his life, but now, this was an entirely different kind of loneliness. It hurt more than any wound could. He always heard that emotional wounds were unbearable, but he had never experienced it like this before.
With silent tears, he watched the night sky, knowing that tomorrow brought a different kind of agony and that he must go on being a warlord and must work to unify Japan even if he was hurting. If he had done things differently, things might have turned out differently. It was his fault. He chucked his cup against the opposite wall, “Damnit!” He watched it shatter, sat on the floor, and put his hands in his hair as he sobbed. He looked up at the glowing moon as tears streamed down his face. He would allow himself to fall apart in the privacy of his tenshu, and when daylight came, he would carry on as usual. He sensed that his nights were about to get much longer.
Closing the door, she placed down the bag and looked into the night, seeing Mitsuhide teasing Hideyoshi just like always. Life would go on without her. They would be fine. Somehow, that was more painful to think about. The stars sparkled more than they had ever done in her time. She questioned if leaving was the right thing to do. Would he be mad if she took it all back? She wanted to stay. It was easy to stay and keep going as they had been. Leaving was hard. Deciding to be without him was scary. She couldn’t imagine life without him. A sob escaped her throat, and tears came with ease. She tucked herself into her futon; hugging the blanket tight, she let the tears flow freely, letting herself grieve.
Finally, a dreamless sleep found her, and she woke with the sun blinding her. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and sighed, knowing she had to get ready to meet Sasuke. Once she was ready and walked off the castle grounds, she looked back, seeing Nobunaga looking back at her from his balcony on the tenshu. “I love you, Nobunaga,” She said quietly, then she turned to leave.
Nobunaga watched her turn and walk into the distance until he could no longer see her. A tear slid down his cheek. He made mistakes; she made mistakes. Was it too late to rectify? Had he just let the love of his life walk out on him, never to return? He couldn’t think that way. He heard a knock. “You may enter.” He was expecting them; he had asked for them, but it was a distraction his ailing heart didn’t want. He wiped his tears away and turned around; maybe drowning in work was the best way to distract himself. He didn’t want to see everyone’s worried looks fall on him. It was inevitable, especially with Hideyoshi, but he couldn’t hide that he had a job to do.
As she came to the restaurant where they had agreed to meet, she saw Sasuke, and they hugged each other. They had brunch, then mounted Sasuke’s horse and rode to Echigo. Sasuke introduced her as his best friend from the village they grew up in, but when she went to put her things away in her borrowed room, Sasuke got a serious tone, looking at everyone. “Listen, she’s going through a lot, and I’d appreciate it if you all could behave.” It took some coaxing, but they eventually agreed.
The days she spent in Echigo seemed long with her grieving heart; on days she wanted to sleep the pain away, Sasuke was there to force her to go out with him, and she always felt better when she did. Sasuke could tell her heart was heavy, and he could see the hurt in her face. She was quieter than she used to be, but he wasn’t about to pry. “You can talk to me about anything. I won’t judge you. I know what you’re going through is hard, but you don’t need to keep it in. That’s not healthy.” She nodded. “I know, it’s just if I talk about it, I’ll cry.” Sasuke stopped walking and looked at her. “And I’ll be here for you if you do. There’s nothing wrong with crying.” He put his hand gently on her shoulder and squeezed. “ Thank you, Sasuke.”
She was quiet during dinner even as Shingen gave her alluring glances, she grimaced and turned away. Yoshimoto shot Shingen a warning look. Yoshimoto stood, “I’m going to take my leave for the night.” She nodded her head. “I am too; thank you for the lovely dinner.” Kenshin’s gaze landed on the two of them. “Yoshimoto, why don’t you do Sasuke a favor and walk her to her room tonight.” She shook her head. “I’m perfectly capable of-“She saw Kenshin’s eyes narrow. “Okay,” she said, not wanting to make trouble; she was a guest, after all. Yoshimoto smiled and held out his arm for her to take, and she reluctantly slid her arm in his and looked back at Sasuke, then began walking with Yoshimoto.
As they walked to her room, Yoshimoto waited till they were out of earshot of the others. “Are you okay? I can’t help but notice how sad you seem since you’ve been here.” They continued to walk. He stopped when they arrived at her room, released her arm, and looked at her with growing concern when she didn’t answer. “We’re friends. You can talk to me.” She nodded. “Do you want to come in?” He followed her into the bedroom and slid the door shut.
They sat on the floor and she looked down. “I don’t know where to start”
“How about from the beginning,” Yoshimoto suggested; she bit her lip but proceeded to tell him the whole story of her and Nobunaga and how things had changed over the last year.
“I honestly don’t know what to do, Yoshimoto; if I could move mountains to be with him, I would.” She sighed
“But?” Yoshimoto finished her sentence. “Exactly, but… With the way things are, I don’t know that we’ll make it if I did move said mountains. I love him, but is it truly enough?” She paused. “I feel so lost, Yoshimoto; I don’t know what to do or even what I want.” Yoshimoto reached over and squeezed her hand, understanding what she was saying. “Can I be blunt for a minute?” He asked, and she raised an eyebrow. “Sure,” she said slowly, reluctantance tracing the word.
“Nobunaga doesn’t define you. There is more to you.” Yoshimoto smiled tenderly. “You are caring and kind. You are passionate, and you love with your entire being. Don’t discount yourself. I know you’re hurting, and I know it seems bleak right now, but if you decide to leave him, you will find your way.” He squeezed her hand again, “I will be here for you.” Tears ran down her cheeks, and he wiped them away with his thumbs.
He pulled her into a hug. “Everything will turn out the way it’s supposed to.” He squeezed her tight, and she started to sob into his chest. “Let it out, I won’t tell anyone.” He stroked her hair as she cried, and then there was a knock on the door. She pulled away from Yoshimoto and wiped her eyes. “Come in,” she said in a shaky voice.
Sasuke slid the door open and saw her eyes were red, and Yoshimoto cleared his throat. “I’ll leave you now.” She shook her head “You can stay, I’m sorry for crying on you.” Sasuke looked at her with concern. “You told him?” She nodded her head. “I’ll go have some tea made for the three of us,” Yoshimoto said as he stood up to leave, giving them some privacy.
Sasuke stepped into the room, “You’re going to be okay.” She looked up at Sasuke. “I wish I didn’t love him so much then maybe I could make a decision.” Sasuke’s face softened as he sat down. “I know, but you’ll figure it out. You always have a place here with all of us.” She managed a smile, “Thank you.”
Yoshimoto came back carrying a tray with three cups and some tea. He poured some for each of them. “Do you want to go to town with me tomorrow? I want to do some looking around, and you and I both enjoy beautiful things.” Sasuke’s eyebrows shot up. “I think that’s a wonderful idea. “Yuki and I also have an errand to run in town. We can walk there together.” She smiled. “Okay.” They finished their tea and then left her to rest.
As they walked through town, Saskuke and Yukimura separated from them. Yoshimoto dragged her along, looking at different paintings and fabrics, when she found a fabric that was a wine red with gold embroidered in spiraled intricate patterns, giving it a romantic aura; she couldn’t help but touch it. Yoshimoto turned away from the fabric he was looking at, “Oh, that is beautiful.” He touched the silkiness of the fabric and saw how her eyes lit up. He left, then came back and picked it up. “I bought it for you.” Her eyebrows shot up. “You didn’t have to do that, Yoshimoto.” He just grinned at her. “No, but I wanted to. I want you to make something for yourself, and I want you to show it to me when you’re finished. I think it’ll be good for you to have a project.” She couldn’t deny that he was right, and she smiled. “Thank you, Yoshimoto, really.” He put his hand on her shoulder. “This is the first time you’ve smiled in days.” She blushed, not realizing she was smiling.

Hey Mrs. O hope you're well! I just have a question about IkeSen. Im a bit confused about whos in power. Like they talk about an Emporer, and a shogun, and daimyo's. Im confused how Nobunaga and the other lords fit in and who is in charge lol any clarification would be greatly appreciated
Hi Nonny! Thank you, I am peachy.
I don't blame you for being confused - Ikesen gives us an extremely watered down version of Japanese history and even that is confusing because Japanese history is heckin complicated! I'm no expert but I'll see if I can make things clearer for you.
In the time of Ikemen Sengoku it is the Sengoku period obviously (which roughly spans the 15th and 16th centuries) and more specifically 1582, which is the year Oda Nobunaga 'died'. However, we're dealing in a fictional version of things where stuff gets fudged a bit, so let's not get hung up on the exact dates. The structure of Japan at that time was still a feudal system divided into 5 basic levels that looked something like this:
Emperor > Shogun >> Daimyou >>> Samurai >>>> Peasants
The Emperor was nominally the most powerful person in Japan, a political figure of course, but most of all he is a spiritual figure. He's the leader of the Shinto religion and said to be descended from the sun goddess Amaterasu. The Emperor and his Imperial Court fulfilled many important ceremonial functions and was a place where the arts and culture were encouraged and maintained.
In truth though, the most powerful person in the sphere of day to day earthly life was the shogun, a military dictator that ruled over the country. (Incidentally, the first shogun to really consolidate power and create feudalism as it existed in Japan for 600+ years was Minamoto no Yoritomo - the poster boy for Ikemen Genjiden) The shogun ruled with the Emperor's blessing, whether that was freely given or manipulated, and if you really want to grossly oversimply an analogy I think you could somewhat liken it to the concept of the Pope and some monarchs in historical Europe - both powerful in different ways, and a monarch ostensibly ruled with the Pope's stamp of approval.
Below the shogun would be the daimyou, powerful land-owning lords who controlled personal armies of samurai loyal to them. This would include many of the warlords we know by name in the game - Oda Nobunaga, Takeda Shingen, Date Masamune, Uesugi Kenshin, Mouri Motonari, Imagawa Yoshimoto, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi (eventually) were all daimyou.
Samurai in service to the daimyous could include some illustrious warriors as well, and there are plenty of them that are suitors in Ikesen too - Akechi Mitsuhide, Ishida Mitsunari, Naoe Kanetsugu, Maeda Keiji, and Sanada Yukimura were all subordinates of the men above. (Though Yukimura's older brother, Nobuyuki, was a daimyou)
In the time of Ikemen Sengoku, we have the shogun (or ex-shogun, I suppose) Ashikaga Yoshiaki. It's Complicated, but suffice it to say that Nobunaga had helped him to power as a sort of puppet shogun and then removed him from it, and Yoshiaki did not take this very well. He became a rallying point for those looking to oppose Nobunaga's rise to power and hence his role as a villain in our story.
SO, technically, at the time of our story nobody really is in charge exactly, and that's half the problem. The Emperor exists offstage in Ikesen, and the Imperial Court is always a force that has to be taken into consideration, but Nobunaga is generally adept at maintaining a positive relationship with it. It isn't until after Nobunaga manages to bring almost half of the previously fractured provinces of Japan under his control, and the unification he begins is continued by Hideyoshi and ultimately solidified by Ieyasu, that a new shogun rises to power and maintains the Tokugawa shogunate for the next three centuries or so.
If you're interested in a brief rundown on the shogunate and how it worked, this video is really useful and entertaining for giving you a good grasp on the basics. And here's another from the same channel that gives a cool visual history of Japan, but I've linked the timestamp to the Sengoku period for you here. I hope that helped, rather than made things more confusing? I obviously didn't even touch on some of the other characters in the game or how Kennyo and the Ikkou-ikki opposed Nobunaga - if you have more questions about them, feel free to ask!

Next Chapter (Two): Waking Nightmare
Chapter Masterlist
Summary:
The pain was crippling at first: a sharp, searing thing that seemed to be the only constant in her life for more days than she could count. It was like a tooth that had been pulled, leaving sensitive, exposed nerves behind. Waking her up in the middle of the night to remind her, to make her remember what she'd lost. Showing up to knock her down with random crying jags in the middle of the day. Her grief was overwhelming, overpowering... the only thing she could see for miles, for a very long time.

Chapter One: Kyoto
Day 1,460.
Malbec is always a good choice; not too sweet, not too dry. It’s nice enough to not make her feel cheap, but inexpensive enough to afford on a regular basis.
Her earbuds are sitting on the desk now, set there when she went into the kitchen to refill her glass, and abandoned even after she’d returned. The music is still playing, but the sound is so far away that it sounds tinny. She can’t hear the bass line, can’t feel the subtle changes in the time signature. Despite the absence of this, the song is still a masterpiece, and she enjoys it from afar. ‘I felt you more on Sundays,’ Sylo Nozra croons. She smiles a little at the lyric.
1,460 days. 35,040 hours. 2,102,400 minutes. An endless number of seconds.
On day fifty-nine, she’d finally stopped crying herself to sleep. She’d traded the tears for sleeping pills instead, and that lasted until day seventy-seven.
She’d left the chain off at night until day ninety-two. It was a force of habit - there was never any need to put the chain on at night because Shinichi would always put it on himself when he came home. He’d always get home after she did.
It wasn’t until day ninety-eight that it sank in: Shinichi was never coming home.
The song goes off, and just for a few seconds, everything is silent and still… almost peaceful. Then she takes a deep, shuddering breath, and the illusion of calm is broken. The next song shuffles up, and the memory associated with it comes at her so swiftly and powerfully that she’s momentarily stunned.
***
“You know,” she starts, the corners of her mouth twisted up into a sly smile, “you’re pretty skilled on the dance floor for someone who claims he has cinder blocks for feet.”
"It’s all just counting,” he shrugs nonchalantly, but she catches - just for a second - the corners of his own mouth twitching up.
“Mmhm,” is all she’ll say. She inclines her head then, resting it on his chest and closing her eyes. Faintly, she can feel his heart beating, and the sound is reassuring. “Forever, huh?” She murmurs it softly, thinking the music will drown out the words.
“Yes,” he replies, lifting her chin so that he can look her in the eyes. “Forever.”
***
Forever was taken away from her, in the blink of an eye.
The pain was crippling at first: a sharp, searing thing that seemed to be the only constant in her life for more days than she could count. It was like a tooth that had been pulled, leaving sensitive, exposed nerves behind. Waking her up in the middle of the night to remind her, to make her remember what she’d lost. Showing up to knock her down with random crying jags in the middle of the day. Her grief was overwhelming, overpowering… the only thing she could see for miles, for a very long time.
Day 1,460, and the grief has become a dull ache. She often wonders if it’s to be this way for the rest of her life: if she will spend all of the days until she dies mourning the loss of the only man she has ever loved.
The buzzing of her phone shakes her out of her thoughts, and she turns her attention to the device, peering at it closely to see who’s calling. She smiles a little at the name that flashes up on the screen.
She swipes her thumb across the screen to answer, putting the phone up to her ear. “Hello?”
“Eri-neechan,” the warm, familiar voice on the other end of the line greets her. “Didn’t think you would pick up - shouldn’t you be sleeping?”
“Ryu, hi.” She glances at her watch. “It isn’t that late, is it?”
“Well,” her friend points out, “it’s a school night… although I suppose that doesn’t matter to you much because you’re not working tomorrow. But aren’t you catching an early train to Kyoto?”
“Not that early,” she laughs. “Besides, I was planning on turning in soon. I was just…” She pauses, biting back the words. I was just wallowing in old misery and thinking about your brother, my dead fiance. “I was just having a glass of wine to help me get sleepy.”
“Neechan...” The unsaid words are heavy in Ryu’s voice, and she closes her eyes, willing him to leave them unsaid. As if he can hear her thoughts, he sighs. “Will you be okay in Kyoto, alone?”
“I’ll be fine,” she tells him, hoping she sounds cheerful enough to make him think she means it. “Kyoto is one of the safest cities in the world.”
“I know, but---” He pauses. “That’s not what I meant. I know you’re taking this trip because you wanted to get away for the anniversary of Shinichi’s---”
“Ryu, please.” She cuts him off softly, her words a plea. “Don’t.”
“Eri…” There’s hurt in the way he says her name. She tries to ignore it.
“I’ll be fine,” she repeats firmly, her voice quiet. “You don’t have to worry about me.”
He wants to fight her on this. He can hear the pain in her voice. It’s slightly different from the pain in his own voice, but it is there nonetheless. He still mourns the loss of his older brother, and she mourns the loss of her fiance. It has been four years, and though the pain is not as fresh as it once was, it is still very much there. The two of them are connected by their pain, joined forever by the event that took away the most important person in both of their lives. He wants to scream at her to let him in, to talk to him about how she’s feeling, to stop tucking her grief away like some embarrassing secret.
Instead, he sighs again. “Well, please be careful.”
“I will,” she assures him. “I’ll text you as soon as I arrive in Kyoto, okay?”
It’s good enough for him; it’s all she’s willing to give him, and so it has to be good enough. “Okay,” he relents finally, urging a smile that he doesn’t feel into his voice. “Okay.”
***
Well, this is nicer than I thought it would be, she thinks to herself, stretching her arms above her head. It’s only been half a day, but she’s already enjoying herself in Kyoto. The city has thus far lived up to its reputation as the cultural capital of Japan and a hot tourist destination. It was a good idea, she commends herself, deciding to come during the off-season. As it is, there are lots of people here - I can’t imagine what it would be like during peak tourist season.
She pulls the guidebook out of her purse, chuckling a little to herself. A Traveler’s Guide to Japan’s Hottest Warlords. She’d bought it on a whim at the Visitor’s Center, mostly because the title had made her smile, but partly because the guidebook promised information on some good sightseeing spots. Her knowledge of said warlords was very limited; being a foreigner and not having had access to the history lessons taught in Japanese schools, much of what she knew about the country’s history had come from documentaries or research motivated by curiosity on her part about some name she’d heard in passing. She flipped through the book, trying to remember the name of the monument nearby.
“Honno-ji,” she murmurs, when her eye falls on the page. “A stone monument at the temple’s original location… oh, I do remember this guy. Oda Nobunaga - the man who supposedly almost unified all of Japan under his rule.” She peers up at the monument standing a few yards away. “This is it?” Looking down again, she reads on. “In the year 1582, betrayed by Akechi Mitsuhide, Oda Nobunaga committed suicide amidst the fiery wreckage of Honno-ji.”
I wonder if Oda Nobunaga would be disappointed with the monument, she thinks absently. She thinks of Shinichi then, and the simple headstone he was buried under. I wonder if Shinichi would be disappointed with his headstone. She cuts the train of thought off before it can go any further, shaking her head to banish it. It’s only then that she notices she isn’t alone at the monument.
A young man is standing off to her left, and Eri immediately puts herself on guard, quickly scanning him up and down. There doesn’t appear to be any malice in his serious face, but he’s wearing a lab coat, and the strangeness of it is enough to keep her on-guard.
He doesn’t seem to be paying her any mind, however; his eyes are fixed on the stone in front of them, staring intently at it. Eri opens her mouth to ask him if he knows anything about the monument itself, but a cold raindrop lands right on her nose, stopping her voice in its tracks.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” she mutters, looking up at the sky. Dark gray clouds gather in sheets above them, ready to burst. “There was no rain in the forecast---”
Before she can finish her sentence, the heavens open up into a downpour.
“What poor timing,” the young man beside her finally speaks up. “Are you all right?” He turns to address her. “Do you have an umbrella?”
“I do,” she gasps miserably. “But it’s back at my hotel. I took it out of my purse earlier because it was making my bag unnecessarily heavy… and the weather report wasn’t calling for rain.” She looks up at the man sheepishly, ready to speak again, but the booming sound of thunder and a crack of lightning kills the words in her throat.
The noise is deafening, and when she turns back to where the lightning struck, her mouth drops open. The stone monument has been shattered, fragments of rock scattered around where it once stood.
“Oh my god--”
“Be careful,” the stranger in the lab coat warns, holding his hand out to her. Against her better judgment, she moves forward and reaches out to take it. Then the ground rushes up at her, and everything seems to bend and warp into the darkness. Vertigo? She thinks faintly as she closes her eyes to ward off the dizziness taking over her. What’s happening?
The dizziness passes, and she opens her eyes, intending to check on the stranger to see if he felt it, too.
She can’t see anything.
In all directions, her vision is obscured by heavy smoke. She takes a step forward, trying to get her bearings again, and it becomes immediately obvious that she is no longer standing in front of the destroyed monument to Honno-ji. Her feet land on ground that is softer than concrete, but firmer than carpet. It doesn’t take long for the alarm bells to go off in her head once the smell of smoke catches up to her.
She is inside of a building that is burning down very, very quickly.
Trying not to panic, she looks around for the young man in the lab coat, but can’t see him anywhere. Instead, her eyes fall on an unmoving lump on the other side of the room. Squinting, she moves closer.
“What the hell?” When she gets close enough to make out what the shape is, her eyes widen.
The lump is a man, dressed in a suit of ancient Japanese armor.
And he appears to be unconscious.
Eri acts without thinking, sprinting across the hot floor to the sleeping man. “Wake up!” She screams, leaning down and shaking him hard, with all her might. He opens his eyes, blinks at her once, twice, then sits up slowly.
“Who are you?” He asks, his voice deep and commanding. It startles her a bit, the intensity of his gaze coupled with the power of his voice.
“That-- doesn’t matter right now,” she stammers, motioning to the smoke around them. “We need to go before we both burn to a crisp in here!” She grabs this new stranger’s hand, pulling him up and towards the only exit she can see. She thanks the stars that he can run on his own - the armor and the man both look heavy, and she isn’t sure she would be able to drag him out on her own. The two of them run for their lives, not pausing even once to look back at the destruction behind them.

Heart of the Warrior Chapter 13: Machibuse
Fandom: Cybird Ikemen Sengoku
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
Yukimura Sanada x Male!OC
Save for the black eye and dried blood under his nose, Nobuyuki was untouched by any of Yukimura's men. Bound with rope that circled his arms behind his back and around his torso, Nobuyuki kneeled on the bare wooden floor, ever under the vigilant eyes of Saizou. The rest of the men were scattered inside the building, some resting, others keeping an eye around the perimeter of the building. Thai and Sasuke were still outside, watched by no one and allowed to talk freely about returning to the Modern World. Mostly, it was Thai enduring the plethora of Sasuke's pop culture references and Sasuke enduring Thai's reasons why rum was underrated in the bartending industry.
His mind was ablaze—Nobuyuki had not expected to ever see his younger brother again. He knew that their eventual encounter would end up in a fight, but this was desperate of Yukimura. He cursed himself at the thought of being easily defeated and tied like a common criminal.
"Oi," Nobuyuki grunted dryly. "Let me have some water."
Staying silent, Saizou went over to a bucket, picking up a wooden ladle filled with water. He stepped over to Nobuyuki and brought the ladle to his dry lips. Nobuyuki eagerly drank the water, parching his dry throat until nothing was left inside. He let out a sigh of satisfaction, Saizou tossing the ladle back into the bucket.
"Saizou," Nobuyuki grunted. "You know this won't work. In a matter of days, they will notice my absence and you'll be found. Just...let me go and I'll cover your tracks. This was all the work of a bandit clan. I don't wish to see my younger brother and my old friends die."
"If you don't wish to see that," Saizou argued softly, his tone lowering in pitch. "Then you'll listen to us and consider the ramifications if you don't." Saizou huffed and squatted down, his face level with Nobuyuki. "Oda Nobunaga, the murderer that invaded our lord's home, is already scouring the land and preparing for yet another invasion for his misguided mission for unification. You will be supporting the monster that has decimated thousands of people's lives and was responsible for the splitting of the Sanada Clan."
Nobuyuki kissed his teeth in frustration. "It was our father's choice! Not his!"
"But by whose reign of chaos forced your father to think about the survival of his clan rather than its prosperity."
"Shut it!"
Nobuyuki's outburst attracted Yukimura and the other shinobi. Nobuyuki fell silent, his red-hot glare and bared teeth directed at his younger brother. Yukimura let out a silent exhale, his tense body relaxing as he looked toward Saizou and the rest of his men.
"Leave us, will you?" he asked sternly.
They bowed, quickly exiting in an orderly fashion as Yukimura stepped towards his brother. He knelt down to him, keeping a straight look and calm nature, yet inside his emotions boiled from the maddened glare coming from Nobuyuki. It was hard to look him in the face; years of treachery and resentment began to surface in his strained expression. He dreamed of earning his place as the head of his clan, but to have the demon that was Nobunaga be the determiner of his clan's fate was downright despicable. Yet, Yukimura kept his calm, his nails digging into his palms.
"Nobushige..." Nobuyuki spat. "There is no use in trying to persuade me to throw our lot into your dying lord's plans just for everyone to get killed. Stop this...and come home."
Yukimura's chest heaved, his breath through his gritted teeth audible. "What?"
"As head of the Sanada, I won’t risk a single life in pursuit of a suicidal wish to overthrow a man who has already swept away all opposition towards his rule. Come home, Nobushige. Lay your weapons down...and just come home. If you truly wish to reunite our fractured Clan, then fight with me, not against me."
Yukimura sighed disappointingly. "...you know I can't do that," he said, "You say this is a 'suicidal wish', but is it not an honorable one?" Nobuyuki's eyebrow raised, a gleam of confidence in Yukimura's eyes as he spoke. "Is it not honorable to continue fighting for the man who protected us when that demon came bearing down on everyone? Is it not the right thing to do—to continue to serve your lord, especially at his weakest? It should be our duty as the Sanada to stay by Lord Shingen's side to rebuild the Takeda Clan. It should be our duty to fight off the demon that has destroyed this land!"
Yukimura scoffed, his hands white once his fingers uncurled themselves from their fists. His nails nearly cut his palms, both palms imprinted deeply from where his nails were digging in. Nobuyuki stayed silent as Yukimura stood up, determined in his resolve.
"If father was here," Yukimura said, a tear trickling down from his eyes and onto his flustered cheeks, "I would do my damndest to convince him, too. A clan torn apart will fall. There is no true legacy that can be saved from just saving half of our clan. Even you know this to be true."
Nobuyuki shook his head in disappointment. "Nobushige..."
"It might be a suicidal wish," Yukimura continued. "It might end with my death and the battle lost...but I'd rather die doing the right thing than become subservient to the demon that took everything from us."
Nobuyuki glared up at his brother. For years, he always stayed true to their father's command. He was next in line to succeed as the elder heir. Their father was well respected by his own clan, his allies, and even his enemies. It was specifically in that last part that Nobuyuki was able to marry Komatsuhime. Nobuyuki knew he needed to be the leader his father was—a leader that looked to the safety and prosperity of his clan by any means possible. Even though he dared not question his father's leadership, he still bore confusion from his decision to split the clan apart. But, the ever-obedient Nobuyuki followed his lead without fail, siding with the enemy and keeping his clan safe.
Yukimura's words stung his heart. As strong as he was in his will to keep his clan alive under the allowance of the Oda, he could not deny that his words were the truth. The Sanada were supposed to be the strongest clan—not subservient.
Nobuyuki gulped, closing his eyes. "Nobushige..." he spoke. "Can I get some water?"
Yukimura nodded, grabbing the ladle of water before raising it to Nobuyuki's lips. Yet, the elder Sanada brother didn't drink, his eyes gazing at the reflection in the water. "Nobushige," he spoke dryly, "...I—"
A clamoring outside stopped the conversation. Both Sanada brothers looked towards the door, a vicious war cry and the clanging of swords following the sudden noise. Yukimura grunted, the door bursting open with Saizou and Rokuro coming through it, swords drawn.
"Ambush!"
Thai kicked back a warrior shrouded in black, Sasuke covering his six. One moment, the duo were talking about who was the best Marvel superhero, the next, they found themselves swarmed by a seemingly endless wave of shinobi that sprung from the trees. Thai ducked under a sword, spinning back around before striking his opponent in the head with his heel.
"Where in the goddamn did these people come from!?" Thai roared.
Sasuke had little time to answer, quickly engaging an enemy and swiftly knocking him out in the back of the head before his opponent could strike. Meanwhile, Thai swiftly stepped back from a sword strike, kicking his sword hand away as he swung again before grabbing and tossing the man over his hip. But, another attacker swung at him, forcing Thai to duck and roll away back to Sasuke.
"There's too many out here," Thai said, taking out his razor and short sword. "Get Yuki and let's go! I'll cover you!"
Sasuke nodded, swiftly running back to their hideout as Thai charged into the wave of attackers. He shook his head, adrenaline coursing through his body as he readied his razor, charging head-on into the fray. Darting through the halls of the hideout, he discovered the other shinobi already embroiled in conflict with several attackers who had broken in through the back entrance. Saizou and Rokuro broke out of the main room, both of them pulling Yukimura out.
"No!" Yukimura roared. "He's still in there!"
"We don't have time for that," Rokuro said, "We have to leave, boss!"
"Sasuke! Get the horses!" Saizou cried out.
Kamanosuke struck down his latest opponent, engaging yet another. "We can't!" he roared. "They ran off!"
Kamanosuke struck down his opponent as the rest blocked the door. Thai slipped in just as they shut the door, the foreigner covered in blood. The myriad of attackers outside pounded on the door furiously, their chance of survival drastically dwindling. Sasuke ran over to a slightly shaken Thai, noticing that most of the blood on him was not from any injuries. “Thai!” Sasuke gasped, seeing blood on his palms. “D-did you—”
“They gonna have a rough time healin’, but their alive,” Thai huffed as he caught his breath. “We gotta move!”
“Damn!” Saizou grunted. Time was running out. They could not hold out forever and hope they stop. There was only one option. “W-we have to get to the river! There’s no other way!”
The surrounding vassals looked at him in surprise. “Are you crazy! We’ll be sitting ducks out there!” roared Uemon.
“No—he’s right!” Sasuke said, standing Thai up. “The current flows away from the city. If we swim, we can make it out!”
“No!” Yukimura shouted. “We can’t run!”
“YUKI! ” Thai suddenly cried out. All eyes directed at him. “ Está pronto ….it’s over. Right now, we gotta get the hell out of here quick, fast, and in a hurry!”
Yukimura gasped in frustration, his fists balling up. Some of the shinobi nodded at Thai, running towards the backdoor to make an opening. Saizou put his hand on Yukimura, the latter growling before nodding. Thai shook his head, bewildered as the pounding on the door grew worse. Suddenly, shards of wood accompanied the breaking of the door, the attackers almost inside. Yukimura and the others retreated, Sasuke covering their escape by throwing caltrops onto the ground just as the attackers broke their way inside.
The first group managed to clear a path, the second group running just behind them towards the river and through the pitch-black forest lit only by the faint light of the attacker’s torches as they swarmed around them, trying to flank the two parties. The river was close, yet attacks from all around kept halting their advance. Thai cursed himself—this was not at all what was supposed to happen! The cold, dry air in his lungs hurt with each breath, the muscles in his legs straining with each step. His mind kept racing, wondering how it was that they got found out so fast! But, that did not matter now. All that mattered was Yukimura—all that mattered was that he made it out safe.
Yukimura pushed back another attacker party, swinging his yari furiously towards them as the rest moved on. He caught up to them swiftly, everyone hearing the rushing sounds of the river. A glimmer of hope ignited within the fearful shinobi, but once they got to the edge, they gasped in horror. Thai was nearly the first—he nearly slipped off the rocky edge until both Rokuro and Kamanosuke caught him. Thai let out a guttural cry, an unfathomable drop to the river just below his feet. He frantically scrambled back up, the shinobi looking down and weighing their options.
“Shit!” Saizou grunted. “Quickly, we have to—”
It was too late. The attackers were just behind the tree line, the flames of their torches furiously dancing around the forest. They put their backs to the river, holding out their weapons as they inched backwards. Thai kissed his teeth in frustration, looking back to the river below.
“Yuki!” Thai growled. “How deep is this river?”
Yukimura swung his head back wildly. “Huh!? I mean, it’s deep, but—”
“Pakshet! It’ll have to do,” Thai said.
“What!?”
“We gotta jump!” he said, a hint of fear in his voice.
“Are you crazy!?” Saizou gawked.
“You wanna stay here and get your head lopped off or captured and tortured?” Thai shouted back. “We gotta go!”
Without skipping a beat, Thai grabbed Kamanosuke and tossed him into the river. Yukimura grabbed Thai, ready to berate him as Kamanosuke splashed into the river. “What the hell are you doing, idiot!” Yukimura roared into his face.
Before Thai could speak back, they heard something below. “Guys!” Kamanosuke called out. “What’re you waiting for!?”
Thai shrugged at Yukimura, the Peerless Warrior releasing his grip. “....okay! Come on, guys, you first!” Yukimura ordered. “Now!”
One by one, they hesitantly took a step before jumping down to the river. Yukimura stayed behind, pointing his yari at the forest behind them as the attackers grew even closer. Everyone jumped off swiftly, leaving just Thai and Yukimura. However, as Thai was about to jump off, he looked back down towards the river. Its current was fast, but there was no way that the attackers would stop trying to catch up to them. He muttered a curse, realizing they would just prolong the inevitable. He looked back at Yukimura.
“W-what’re you doing!” Yukimura frantically asked. “Now you don’t wanna jump?!”
“It’s not that, it’s—”
“Come on” we gotta go!”
Yukimura grabbed Thai’s hand, running towards the edge of the cliff, but Thai pulled him back. Yukimura spun his head to meet Thai, suddenly seeing his sullen eyes. The attackers were just about to break the tree line. Yet, Thai remained frozen, his eyes plastered towards the ground.
“Thai…what’s wrong?” Yukimura asked.
A tear dropped from Thai’s eyes as he looked back up at Yuki. “...y-you need to leave…they’ll be upon us even if we make it to the river.”
A moment of confusion hit the Peerless Warrior as Thai’s eyes sulked. “...what do you mean? What about you?”
Thai sighed, his eyes glistening with tears. He grabbed his Patuá , snapping the string off his neck before shoving it into Yukimura’s palm. Yukimura gasped, looking back at Thai…smiling? The foreigner chuckled, shaking his head. “J-just...make it back home for me…okay?," Thai said, "Don’t worry about me, just…when you win this war…save a drink for me, yeah?”
“Thai! I don’t—”
“ Rasteira!”
The ground disappeared from below his feet, his ankle blooming with pain. He blinked once, the image of Thai disappearing and replaced with the darkened sky. He felt his body float before plummeting, time slowing to a seemingly endless halt. His heart stopped, realizing he was halfway down the cliff, the water’s edge just below. He felt the cold air rush up from his back, his hair ruffling through the wind as he fell, his eyes glued to the cliff. He waited to see if Thai dropped down too, yet as his body hit the water, no one followed. Cold, wet darkness engulfed him. The last thing he remembered was seeing two figures in the water reaching out to grab him.
Thai let out a shaky exhale, Yukimura disappearing beneath the water. He wished he could follow, but someone needed to halt the attackers long enough for them to escape. At least he was safe—it was all that mattered. He looked back towards the forest, Nobuyuki emerging amongst the attackers. They pointed their blades at Thai, the foreigner standing his ground. Nobuyuki was livid, sheathing his tachi as he stepped forward.
“Where is he!?” he spat.
“Kansas!” Thai shouted back, “He’s gone…and you’ll never get to him.”
“Tsk! The river!” Nobuyuki growled, “So what!? Will you follow my brother down in the river, too? Or, do you think you’ll have the chance to kill me?”
Thai shook his head, keeping his inner fright hidden. “This doesn’t end with your death or his,” he called out, his voice nearly breaking, “Please…just let it go.”
Nobuyuki sighed angrily. “...unfortunately…I cannot allow that,” he growled softly. His eyes hid a hint of reluctance as he spoke.
Thai let out a soft exhale, pursing his lips as his hands grabbed the lapels of his kimono and threw it off. He threw it down the cliff, revealing a scarred, lean body wrapped in tattoos. Save for Nobuyuki, the sight made the attackers hesitate to jump in. “Then…I guess I’ll just have to buy him some time, huh?” Thai scoffed. “...Life’s a mystery, ain’t it?”
Nobuyuki looked back at his men. “What’re you still doing here!?” he shouted. “Half of you intercept them down the river. The rest, capture him! I want him alive!”
They let out a cry of agreement in unison, half of the attackers rushing back into the forest as the other half ran towards Thai. Thai let out a war cry, rushing into the attackers. He spun furiously in the air, striking down one of his attackers in the head before sliding towards another with a kick that slammed into his gut with enough force to knock him to the ground. Thai ducked another swing, spinning around before striking the man’s temple with his heel. He fought furiously against the attackers, his heart beating vehemently, his lungs pumping oxygen into his rapid bloodstream. He swiftly evaded every attack, returning with an attack of his own that incapacitated everyone he fought. The attackers grew hesitant, the foreigner almost too fast to strike down. They began to slow their attack, backing up as Thai eliminated the men he was already fighting against.
Thai spun his head back, Nobuyuki fastly approaching. Thai ran up to Nobuyuki, jumping up again before spinning around for another heel kick. But, Nobuyuki was quick—pushing Thai back down before his leg could whip out to kick him. Thai crashed down onto the leaf-littered ground, yet he sprung back up with another kick. Nobuyuki leaned back to dodge it as Thai jumped back onto his feet. Thai rushed forward with a barrage of attacks. Nobuyuki blocked and dodged each of Thai’s kicks and punches. He ducked under Thai's last kick, returning a punch into Thai’s liver that sent the foreigner stumbling back in pain. Thai rushed forward again, but was struck in the chest and gut in quick succession. Thai stumbled down to one knee, coughing up blood.
Nobuyuki towered over the fallen foreigner, Thai glaring at him as his lungs desperately pumped air into him. Nobuyuki’s hand reached for the hilt of his tachi, Thai’s eyes widening. Thai let out a pained cry, rushing back up to his feet in desperation to try and tackle Nobuyuki. But, before he could leap off the ground, the end of Nobuyuki’s tachi struck Thai in the temple, knocking the foreigner out.
Thai fell unconsciously to the ground, Nobuyuki whistling for his men to bind Thai’s arms and feet. He sighed as he watched the unceremonious binding, his brows furrowed as another figure stepped out of the shadows. Nobuyuki sighed, looking back to the emerging figure.
“So…it was you who found me, wasn’t it?” Nobuyuki asked, a hint of disappointment in his tone. “I didn’t expect you to come, Lord Mitsuhide.”
A tall, white-haired man stepped forward, a grin forming between his lips. “I came to oversee how operations were in your fief,” he cooed, “It seems I came at a rather interesting time. You’re welcome.”
“Tsk!” Nobuyuki grunted. “I suppose you want this foreigner back in Azuchi for you to torture?”
Mitsuhide rubbed his chin as he looked down on the fallen Thai. He giggled deeply, his narrow golden eyes looking back at Nobuyuki. “Well, your castle is closer,” Mitsuhide smiled. “And, I just can’t wait to wring every bit of information out of him. I've never had the chance to hear a foreigner sing.”
