please i love you i'm begging you bring back suspension of disbelief bring back trusting the audience like. i cannot handle any more dialogue that sounds like a legal document. "hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!
do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

I know this is a tiny part of the wider problems born of diet culture, fatphobia, classism, and racism but like god the idea that "healthy" food must inherently taste bad has completely ruined us as a society.

Disgust has absolutely no ethical weight. If you are basing your ethical positions on the emotion of disgust you should stop, it is entirely unjustified and leads to a huge amount of harm.

“but it wasn’t that bad”
did it hurt? did you feel scared? unsafe? were you embarrassed? humiliated? terrified? did you feel confused on why? does it keep you up at night? do you avoid being in a similar situation? did you cry? did you want to cry? who told you it wasn’t that bad?

My favourite underrated thing about Louis de Point du Lac is that he truly is the least curious vampire to ever be made and he does not give fuck about vampires despite being one.
Its Claudia who goes to libraries, reads the folklore, tries to learn as much as she can and pushes Lestat for answers about who made him and where the others are. Claudia says Vampire Pride and Louis says hmmm Vampire Tolerance.
And Louis...truly does not care about vampire history, law, culture. He's never even thought to ask. There are vampire laws?...ok...Lestat never cared about them and he's not going to either, lol. He's broken a few and he will continue to do so. Oh you have a coven? he's not gonna join it, he's gonna do his own thing. but good for you good for you.
the 500+ year old Coven Leader, he's gonna call Louis, Maitre, actually.
He has fire powers? thats kinda cool. he'll learn that but only cause it lets him vent his feelings about Lestat.
Lestat and Armand say the name of the vampire queen in front of him and Lestat straight up says, "Louis has no idea who that is" and do you think Louis cares, outside of the fact that for some reason it means he can't kill Lestat? No! Do you think in the 77 years he's been with Armand he ever took 5 minutes to ask a follow up question? No!
Do you think he will care about Akasha in season 3? Doubt it! Outside of her obsession with Lestat, who is the only person left on the planet he seems to be able to filter Caring About This Shit through
He blatantly breaks the 3rd law and publishes a book about being a vampire and when the other vampires get pissed not only does he not apologise he literally sends them his location and says 'you wanna fight? lmao don't miss'
I love him. Daniel Molloy is gonna need to bring his A game because Louis will not be solving a single mystery next season, nor would it even occur to him to try.

the tradwife movement is the same as it has always been - back in the kitchen, back to breeding - it just has better branding.
when i was younger, i hated pink. i was not like other girls. this is now something i'm embarrassed of - this was not me being a "girl's girl."
but it was expressing something many of us felt at the time: i literally wasn't what girlhood was supposed to be. this is a hard thing to explain, but you know when you're not performing girlhood correctly. it isn't as easy as "i liked x when girls liked y" - because there were other girls that liked x, too - but i never figured out exactly the correct way to like x, or to be interested in y.
now there is the divine feminine. this is the same rhetoric it has always been: women are biologically driven to like pink and ribbons and submitting to our husbands.
the problem is that the patriarchy found a better PR team. because yes, actually, i want every woman to have the choice to be a homemaker. i also want her taken seriously for her legitimate home-making labor. i want her to be recognized as also having a job, just unpaid. i want men to have this opportunity, too.
but it is no longer "i made this choice and I love it." instead it is a sixteen-paragraph rant about how selfish it is that my generation isn't having kids. instead it's long videos about how if you feed your children processed foods, you're going to kill them. instead it is "this is what womanhood is supposed to be. i feel bad for any other choices you're making."
the shame spiral is just prettier. it is large houses devoid of personality. it is the implication: if you don't have this, you aren't happy. the solid, everlasting assurance: women are actually supposed to be submitting. this is the default. this is the natural state of things. all other attempts inflict suffering.
but you can no longer say i'm not like other girls. you can no longer reject this image completely. you cannot find it revolting, even if you know that the underbelly is toxic and festering. sure, it is the same repackaged patriarchy. but the internet does not have shades of grey. you should support and reward other women! your disgust is actually internalized misogyny. not because you are seeing a vision of yourself the way they're trying to train you to be. not because you feel her ghost pass within an inch of your earlobe. not because your father will eventually ask you - why can't you be like her?
because they figured out how to make it beautiful: women will sell other women on this idea, and we will find the singular loophole in feminism. sure, she's shaming you in most of her videos. sure, she implies that a different life is obscene. but she just wants you to be happy! you'd be happier if you were listening!
and the whole time you're sitting there thinking: i'd actually just be happier if i had that kind of money.

Yugioh Stars cast tidbits #6
Not really related to the cast per say, but figured it fits in this label. I'm quite fallible to the phenomenon of making up AMVs in one's own head, and often i would also make up Openings for specific arcs or games or shows in general.
Like a lot. A bit too much honestly.
In the case of Stars, i have like 4 songs i picked out to make up imaginary OP sequences, each for their own arc. So why not list them here as well as the general Arcs?
Arc 1 i have "Orion Wo Nazoru" By Unison Square Garden, Tiger and Bunny's 1st op, cause one its a bop, two its got space related words in them, three i like the meaning of the lyrics a lot. It's the beginning of a new adventure for Yuji and the gang, with lots of fun mishaps and a strange mystery brewing in the horizon. Let's call it "Year 1" for now.
youtube
Arc 2 is "The Over" by Re-End, IBO Gundam Urh-Hunt's opening (its a weird side project for IBO Gundam that originated as a weird phone collection game that's becoming a proper anime project). I like the lyrics of 'moving on despite the bleakness in front of you,' it sounds upbeat, and it fits the increasing tension and incoming threat without being too dour. Yuji and the gang are about to face off against the main villains of the story, or at the very least a splinter cell by them. The "VS Jupiter" arc due to the main rival, Hyoma, taking stage here.
youtube
Arc 3 is "Perfect Triumph" the insert song/credits song for Kamen Rider Build's v-cinema/post series movie New World: Kamen Rider Grease. This arc is the mandated tournament arc with heaps of e m o t i o a l d a m a g e for the cast and more of the villain group finally taking control of the situation as the arc continues forward, but still having hope and determination to pull through. Yuji and the gang are gonna have to buckle up for the incoming trials for these, especially Jun and Kenta as their issues are brought to the forefront. "Rising Stars Tournament" seems like a nice name for the arc, kinda like the GX tournament from S2 of GX.
youtube
Final Arc is "Strength" from Abingdon boys school, one of Soul Eater's EDS. fitting for the final arc being an emotional gauntlet for the main gang, as the resolutions for their journeys are finally achieved. "Paradise" seems like a good name for the arc considering the main villain group's end goal of 'achieving true paradise' through unscrupulous means.
youtube
And that's the mental OPs I've picked for my imaginary anime about people playing a children's card game, thank you for listening to my rambling held at gunpoint.
