DPXDC Prompt #134

Sam was starting her new school at Casper high today and she wasn’t very excited. Her parents had moved here from Gotham and she was a little pissed. She missed Gotham, maybe not all the pollution but definitely the architecture and atmosphere. She also missed her cousin Damian who was great with snarky comments. She goes through her school day with not much going on until she meets a kid that looked exactly like Damian except he had blue eyes instead of green.

Danny wasn’t having a good time right now. His friend Tucker had convinced him to investigate his parents ghost portal last week and Danny went in the portal wearing only a hazmat suit. Tucker had left the basement to get help and Danny turned back human before Tucker got back. Danny didn’t tell him what happened, he’d rather forget the whole thing but some help might be nice especially when he keeps sinking through the floor. Now he has to deal with that and the new girl that doesn’t seem to want to leave him alone.

I always like imagining Katniss reading some books post war and I’m ticked at the thought of her reading AOGG and going “this is familiar” about Gilbert and Anne.

Now I’m thinking about Peeta kicking his feet as he read Anne of Green Gables post-war. 😆

I know I already have The Everdeens of Abernathy Orchards, but that has its own plot line… I’m so tempted to start a different version that would just hit some of the AOGG plot points more directly:

The Slate Incident - something that would parallel the ‘she came here with me’ and Katniss shoving Peeta into an urn

The Unfortunate Lily Maid - I was trying to decide if there’s a better play or scene for them to enact for some reason I keep thinking of a Viking burial… either way, Katniss would be on the brink of forgiving Peeta but then she’d call him a ‘fool’ over something silly and that would set him both (maybe similar to the rooftop scene before the 74th games?)

The Concert - Katniss with stage fright until she sees Peeta grinning at her and assumes it’s malicious

Peeta giving up the closer school so that Katniss can stay with Prim

I just finished my AOGG Re-read and need to reread the others for more gems, but Anne’s white night while Gilbert is ill is very Katniss with the Pearl in District 13

Other thoughts:

Tell me Effie Trinket isn’t Rachel Lynde -lol

Katniss refusing to acknowledge Peeta the way Anne does the whole first book “and Peet- I mean, some of the other boys” or when anyone asks about Peeta directly “I’m certain I have no idea”

Concluding with this line from Anne of Windy Poplars:

I'm still sorta workin on the story plot wise but basically I imagine it as like the lifers are brought into like a semi-reset realm of Mianite under the guise that it's supposed to be like a regular life series (but its not 👀!) Ianite's back to being imprisoned and maybe there's also some other underlying happenings Watcher related or not idk haha

(the god followings i mention later on were based off @ranababamboo , they made some awesome art for this crossover u should totes go check out :D)

I think it'd be funny if theyre still greeted by a version of Dec (or maybe Pix or Iskall would make a funky cool prist :Oc) and are introduced to the mechanic of the game- It works similar to Secret Life where they're all given a set of tasks; One from Mia, Dia and Ianite, and based on how they go about the tasks each session, it leads into them forming factions (aka the god teams) with Lizzie starting off with Mianite and later finding evidence of a Marthanite and BigB doin his funky backrooms things (he's set to follow the World Historian how he gets there I'm not sure but if anyone wants to add on feel free! /nf)

Tiem Reester isn't present but I think it'd be interesting if there's like traces of them (implying this takes place post-s2 but funky multiverse relative universe things hehe) I have plans for Jordan and Tom specifically in linking this to their hardcore series from last year I affectionately named Linked Life bc of the whole "if we all die the server resets" but ye. ye ;]c

I imagine tons of shenanigans ensue ofc from both just them all bein the silly goofys they are, and then as they start to form their factions (maybe both by god followings but also if the factions are mix of the different gods too would be interesting to see... Like Mounders with two dianitees (pearl n joel) a mianitee (bdubs) and an ianitee (mumbo) for example👀 As the sessions go on the tasks become more interesting/offputting or odd that are maybe more lore related, like one big one I keep coming back to is Ianite sending Mumbo to the S1 skycage via a book only given to him with a chest of redstone supplies to make a flying machine

How much the gods appear kinda varies, I've already half written this bit that Scott, Tango and Mumbo are the first to see a physical form of Ianite after a redstone-filled night of building and Pearl becoming Dianite's champion so yeyeyeeyeyeeee!!! :D

the current merch situation is difficult - I have a redbubble with a few bits on and a teepublic with a few more bits. I'm not super happy with either option. I am actually planning on overhauling the merch situation over the summer as I've not looked at it since the end of 2022, but with a New Show coming out this year I want to be in a good position!!

likely it won't involve any of the current poster designs, though; I'm intending on having more handmade/bespoke merch which will be made in limited runs, but I am not yet sure how feasible this is going to be!

server will probably be dual purpose. 

there will be (1) a semi-public side oriented toward general discussion (topics like politics, books, history, philosophy, religion, media, science, tech, etc) and community building (nothing is set in stone yet but i am imagining activities like book club, movie watching, playing games, contests and giveaways, etc). and there will be (2) a private side dedicated to more focused discussions and internal cult matters.

the server won’t be a “safe space” -- i’m fine with a bit of edge (within ToS. not trying to get terminated.) -- but i do want this server (at least the semi-public side) to be /relatively/ welcoming and civil. so if you’re egregiously toxic or vulgar or prone to shitflinging or sperging out you won’t be welcome here. neither will you be welcome if you’re overly sensitive.

otherwise, as long as you follow the rules, you will be fine. though i always reserve the right to executively veto your presence for any reason.

Okay: if I were to run a "magickal scientific conference" fest for Carry On headcanons, crack theories, and meta:

a) Would people be interested in participating?

b) What level of interactivity would you enjoy? Would you rather post something and be done, have question-and-answer sessions, or hold roundtable "debates" on chosen topics?

This could be different per-topic: not everyone would need to take questions and not everything would have to be up for debate. (but arguments ARE a staple of any good conference, and you wouldn't have to "submit original research" in order to participate in debates or ask questions.)

c) For scheduling purposes, how much lead time would you want for prep?

You know I really do not need Jeremiah Arkham to be Black Mask at any time ever. Someone’s gotta fill the niche of mental health professional who is 100% not a supervillain. A guy whose evildoing comes only as an example of what a psych ward can do to you if they just choose. 

The tension of knowing he started out extremely dedicated and genuinely wanting to help people, seeing him victimized and bullied by rogues in his care until even the last shreds of professionalism that held place of his already run down empathy wear out, and despite being sympathetic to this hopeless state being nonetheless nauseatingly horrified when he turns to abusing his patients because in his position he can just do that and hypothetically could have chosen to do that over anything,

is way better to have in there to work with Batman’s exploratory themes of power, justice, corruption and institution, mental illness, and ‘Society’ ect ect

than just saying “and then he snapped too much so now he’s in a legacy costume and a straight jacket too.” 

No hate to my other villains who have lost their licenses. Some of those guys are some of my favorite rogues, and I love them dearly, but we need one uncostumed one. 

(Yes, I am arguing that something from a giant superhero franchise should not have another costumed villain because themes, as if costumed villains is not the whole genre. I am also the sort of person who gave up on No Game, No Life after reading more volumes than I’d care to admit, because I got sick of wading through the gross parts waiting for them to tackle the subjects of debilitating phobias, isolation, codependency, and family that I thought were promised to me before realizing that was never gonna happen.
