About Sonic and the others forgetting the events of Sonic '06 + The Twitter Takeovers are semi-canons
Okay, here we go... I saw some people mention this answer about Sonic forgetting Elise and being upset about it, and thankful that the Takeovers are "not canon", so I'll share my point of view on that and talk about why the Takeovers are semi-canon! (oh boy a long post-) ~~~~
Tumblr media
To start: "But Sonic forgetting Elise is absurd! He was the one who put out the flame with Elise, they both should have known about each other." No. They shouldn't have. From the moment the flame went out, everything was reset and started at the point where Sonic was going through the festival. There was no invasion by Eggman at that moment, Elise was not kidnapped, there were no Events of 2006 EVEN though the game is canon. THIS has ALWAYS been a fact since the game's release. And it keeps gaining strength with new media (Sonic x Shadow Generations and mentions that Sonic make in external media).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I dare even more, not even Silver should know about the events. But if he knows, it's only him and Mephiles, who was ERASED from existence and ended up in WhiteSpace, the Limbo of Sonic's Universe. (As for Silver, he constantly travels through time, he could be the only one who remembers, but I doubt it a little) But the point here is: The representation of the flame going out at the end of 06 is that everything was rewritten in a new way. Things didn't happen that way and that's it.
"But it's absurd. Sonic would never forget Elise, they liked each other!"
I know that in some way there are fans of Sonelise, but I don't think it's right to support their romance so much when it was rushed and totally done in a hurry to make us get some kind of "emotional attachment" to Elise. Elise was the one who showed the most interest in Sonic, even kissing him (geez...), while Sonic, even choosing Elise in the "Trial Of Love", sometimes the game still throws you to Amy's option in a strange glitch. Which doesn't make much sense since theoretically he "would be in love with Elise."
Tumblr media
Elise had the potential to be an excellent character and I still believe in that! She was introduced in an obscure game (just like Silver) and we can't deny that fact. She always couldn't cry because she had sealed the Iblis Trigger in herself, she lost her father and had no mother and yet she was the governess of the kingdom of Soleanna. Have you ever thought how much she could have stood out by working on this issue of pressure that she suffers in a deeper way? Instead of Sonic's entire campaign revolving around a somewhat embarrassing romance, have you ever thought how incredible it would be if it focused on how far the line of our responsibilities goes and the fear of failing everyone? Elise could potentially even be an incredible parallel for Blaze being what she is, even if indirectly! There's the other idea of Sonic and Elise being a parallel of sisterhood like Shadow is with Maria, and that's much more captivating than a romance, and I'm sure we'd get much more attached to her knowing that!
Sonic 2006 and plot holes...
Sonic's campaign is the weakest;
Elise is a character who has potential for much more than what we were given;
the time travel issue has many holes like the Blue Chaos Emerald being with Elise the whole time;
Blaze is in the game and we don't even have an explanation for it;
We're very vague about Silver and his future; So, the fact that Sonic and the others "forget" the events is something canonical since the end of the game and has always remained that way.
Now, about the Twitter Takeovers:
The Takeovers are silly and focused on humor, but that doesn't mean there aren't writers behind them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Social Media Manager for Sonic's official Twitter account.) This same script is thought by the entire team, since the company's characters are acting! There is a lot of work behind it, which must be recognized! In other words, the information becomes "canonical", since it covers and gives us answers about things that we don't have in the games yet. It's an expansion of the characters, the universe and the story that hasn't been told or fully explored yet, and that's fantastic! The questions are selected based on what they can probably tell us. Whether it's just about Sonic's fur or Shadow's taste for coffee, or even about the Super Transformations and the relationships between the characters. They are Semi-Canons. They are information that adds to our knowledge as fans, but they are not necessarily real, like Sonic breaking the fourth wall. As a fandom, we have to know how to separate some things! That's what makes the Sonic universe unique. Everything can be considered more clues to add to the franchise, but we need to know how to understand the reasons and whys behind it!
Conclusion
I still hope that if Sonic '06 gets a remake, they'll do a good redemption of it, because it deserves it! And who knows, maybe we'll see more of it in the future?
If you want to comment, feel free, this is an open field for that discussion. Just keep it respectful and friendly! I'd love to read and participate too!
Thank you very much for reading! Sorry for the bad English... Stay determined! 🤍

Amy's fortune cards
The Sonic fandom has long been the kind of fandom that takes minor details very seriously, for better or worse. On the one hand, this means fans will really dig for the diamonds in the rough, latching onto fun character interactions, animations, bits of background worldbuilding, and more in pieces of Sonic media that many would write off as "the bad ones." But it also feels like every week another needlessly hostile debate over Sonic minutia erupts on Twitter, whether it's over individual lines of dialogue, fanart that makes Tails' shoes blue, or the ideal length and volume for Sonic's quills.
So it was probably inevitable that a fandom-wide debate would erupt upon seeing Amy's new gameplay style in the DLC for Sonic Frontiers, which takes the once-obscure fact that she enjoys reading tarot and shines a spotlight on it like never before.
I mean:
Tumblr media
The thing is, while I basically always try to tune out Sonic fandom bickering... for once, I kind of sympathize with the detractors? Don't get me wrong, I like Amy's tarot stuff, and people on all sides of the discussion are being overly nasty about their opinions, as usual. (Sonic Twitter remains my personal hell.) But when I set aside the hyperbole and zoom out, I do think I understand why some fans are put off by the sudden shift in focus for the character, even if I think it's cool.
It's complicated. Let me attempt to present the cases for and against Amy's fortune cards
For years, I was always one of those fans who thought it could be fun if they played with Amy's tarot reading, or even leaned into some kind of magic with her. Part of that is my own biases showing, but there's just something that makes sense there, especially when you look at Sonic, Tails, and Amy as a trio. (I would argue that's the real "Team Sonic" these days, especially in the comics where Knuckles is more likely to be stuck on Angel Island or otherwise doing his own thing.)
You could argue that Tails is all about logic, relying on science and technology and deductive reasoning to solve problems. But Amy is all about emotion. She wears her heart on her sleeve, is extremely empathetic, and is very prone to magical thinking - both figuratively and sometimes literally. Her origin story has always been that her tarot cards told her it was her destiny to meet Sonic on Little Planet. She's claimed to be able to "sense" peoples' presences - particularly Sonic's. She's the type to believe that The Power of Love is a literal magical force. So, on some level, it makes sense to mirror Tails's science by having Sonic's other best friend believe in magic. And then Sonic is somewhere in the middle, primarily following his own gut instincts but taking advice from both of them as needed. This isn't totally accurate to how their dynamics actually function in canon stories, but I think it's a mode that could work for them.
Going off of that, it's fun to lean all the way into Amy being a magical girl, or even a witch, using her fortune telling as a foundation. Take, for example, this version of Amy from Diana Skelly's old Sonic cast redesigns from before she freelanced for Archie and IDW. This is one of MANY such redesigns for Amy.
Tumblr media
Fast forward to the 2020s, and Amy's tarot cards are, in fact, finally getting brought up again in canon. Which is fun! I like seeing that. I like all of the individual stories involving Amy's fortune cards. This is a fun character trait for Amy, a fun nod to old lore, AND a fun storytelling device, all in one. It's really cool that the Sonic universe has its own thematically appropriate arcana, and that the cards are getting made as physical merch. And sure enough, the official card backs and borders were designed by none other than Diana Skelly, in yet another cool example of an ascendant fan leaving their mark on the series.
BUT... when you step back and look at the big picture, I get why some fans find this shift in focus jarring. At the moment, it's starting to feel like every new story about Amy involves her fortune cards to some degree.
The most recent mainline comic arc to feature Amy as the lead character, 2021's Trial by Fire arc, prominently features a sequence where she reads fortunes while camping with the girls. The Origins version of Sonic CD now bookends the game with scenes of Amy and her tarot cards. Sonic randomly mentioned it in a scene in Frontiers. And now, just this week, we got the (very cute, gorgeously illustrated) Amy's 30th Anniversary comic with a story revolving around Amy's tarot cards, followed the very next day by the Frontiers DLC in which she gets a brand new tarot-based moveset. Even her base melee attack now has her throwing tarot cards instead of swinging her hammer. Again, I like all of these individual things, but after years of it almost never coming up at all, it's VERY noticeable that Amy's tarot cards are suddenly everywhere.
To be fair, I'm looking at this from the perspective of a superfan who's actively following ALL Sonic media. Casual fans - especially kids - aren't necessarily going to be reading the comics every month, buying the thousandth rerelease of the Genesis games, or playing the ultra-hard new alternate ending DLC for a game that came out last year. Each of these stories is going to be someone's introduction to the idea that Amy can read tarot, and that's probably part of the idea behind this unified push.
Tumblr media
But to play devil's advocate, for my fellow superfans, I understand why it feels like a very minor footnote of Amy's character is suddenly becoming the entire focus of her personality. While Amy has always been said to enjoy fortune telling, that wasn't really a character trait in and of itself, but rather an example of her being a typical girl who hopes she'll be able to find true love one day. It's less that Amy can literally predict the future and more like her using a cootie catcher or going "he loves me, he loves me not" while picking the petals off of a flower. So I get not vibing with this stuff, or feeling like it's being pushed very hard out of nowhere.
What I don't agree with are comparisons like "it's like if they made Knuckles' moveset revolve around him liking grapes." Like, I get it. Ian Flynn loves shoehorning in his little winking references for us nerds, and mentions of Amy's tarot cards were previously on the same level as other random bullet points from old Japanese manuals. But a multifaceted hobby like fortune telling that opens up so many narrative and aesthetic possibilities is obviously very different from having a favorite food. It's ALWAYS been a part of her story, not just a random fact, and there's no reason why the fortune telling can't be elevated to something more.
And, hell, even if it wasn't an established character trait, there's nothing inherently wrong with injecting new ideas into a character. One of the best Amy stories in recent years, the Free Comic Book Day special "Amy's New Hobby" written by Gale Galligan, came up with the idea that Amy's secretly been drawing little comics about her and her friends. Is this based on Lore? No. But it's cute, and helps tell the story of a younger Amy who's still coming out of her shell as both a hero and a friend.
Tumblr media
Certain fans are also looking at Amy's Frontiers moveset and using it as evidence that once again the Vile American Contributors like Ian are CORRUPTING Sonic Team's perfect vision of Sonic with their misinterpretations. And like. Come on. Ian does not control the gameplay. He's a freelance writer. The tarot stuff is clearly something that Sonic Team likes if they made it the basis of Amy's new moveset - and, you know, if they keep approving comics and animations about Amy's fortune telling. None of this gets made without their blessing, and lord knows how much they can micromanage shit and shoot down ideas over the most minor of details.
Like, yeah, Amy's fortune telling was probably conceived less as a sign that she Knows Magic and more as a pretty mundane hobby for a lovesick young Japanese girl to have. But you're gonna sit there and tell me that using Amy's tarot cards for more than that could only be the result of a cultural misunderstanding? That nobody in Japan uses tarot card theming and aesthetics (or the general idea of magical cards) for the cool factor? Stardust Crusaders? Persona? The Astrologian class in FFXIV? Cardcaptor Sakura?? Hello??? Do you think Capcom put Gambit in Marvel vs. Capcom ironically because they thought using magic to throw cards at people was stupid? There's tons of precedent for this! It's nothing like Knuckles throwing grapes at people, be for real.
Giving Amy a very magical girl-esque moveset also just makes a lot of sense. For decades her hammer attacks have literally made sparkly heart shapes appear around her. Leaning into both that and her tarot cards in her new moveset makes a lot of sense to me.
But, admittedly... I do think it's very odd that her hammer is treated as a secondary element here, rather than having her primarily use her hammer and adding the cards for extra flair. If hitting the attack button made her swing her hammer instead of throwing cards, I'm not sure we'd even be having this discussion right now.
But the tarot-cycle and Amy riding her hammer like a witch's broom are fucking SICK and I will not concede on this point
Tumblr media
The thing is, this whole fortune card discourse is but a small piece of a bigger problem. Amy's been a character who needed some work for ages, but there's basically nothing you can do with her without pissing SOMEONE off.
Years of stories where Amy's crush was her primary motivator and Sonic went "Ew, cooties!" have lead many casual fans to believe that being Sonic's obsessive fangirl is Amy's entire personality. At best people might call her Sonic's Minnie Mouse. This isn't just a matter of Amy having haters within the fandom - venture outside of that bubble and you'll realize that this is how MOST video game playing people seem to see her to this day. I don't feel like this is a fair assessment of the character, but this idea didn't come from nowhere. No matter how much good deeply entrenched Sonic fans may see in their old dynamic where Amy perpetually chases Sonic, this is a very real problem that Sonic Team has to contend with for their leading girl. Of course all those games where the way-past-cool protagonist thought Amy was annoyingly clingy and tried to get away from her made people think less of her.
If new stories were to go back to emphasizing Amy's crush on Sonic a little more, they'd probably be taken as confirmation that Amy's just the girl with a crush on Sonic and that this is her entire personality. Conversely, when the crush is played down, you piss off the hardcore SonAmy fans who don't seem to understand that they're Charlie Brown and Sega is Lucy holding the football. You can't win.
And so here we are. In the absence of what was once her defining trait, now reduced to an occasional blush or wink in Sonic's direction, new stories are trying to mine Amy's past for additional material to work with. Having been a thing fans wanted to see for years, right now we're getting a lot of tarot, but we're also getting reminders of her compassionate nature and her desire to go out of her way to help the little guy. This is an ongoing process. I continue to hope that her bubbly, exuberant demeanor can shine more in future stories. Now, I also hope that the tarot stuff gets balanced out a little better with other traits of hers. But I don't want it to go away. I think it's fun.
This course correcting is far from exclusive to Amy. Knuckles is getting stories that remind us that he's a competent fighter, an experienced treasure hunter, and even a self-taught archaeologist after years of him being perceived as either the dumb one or just the guy who stands in front of the Master Emerald all day. And Tails has been getting some stories reminding folks that he's a capable hero in his own right and not just Sonic's timid kid sidekick.
But no supporting character will ever compete with the sheer number of new ideas Sega has tried with Sonic himself. Like Amy, his Frontiers moveset has also given him half a dozen new superpowers that he never had before, from the Cyloop to air-slicing projectile attacks to his own take on Shadow Clone Jutsu and beyond. He's also been a hoverboarder, a swordsman, a time traveler, an Olympic athlete, a racecar driver, cursed with a Flame of Judgment, imbued with alien power, a fucking Werehog with stretchy powers, and on and on and on.
If Sonic can do all that, Amy can try out using a tarot-cycle.
Anyway TL;DR the REAL problem with Amy's current characterization... is where the FUCK is Amy's bestie, Honey the Cat???????

Yandere sonic
Pair- sonic x reader
Warning- MDNI, yandere behavior, possessive behavior, obsessive behavior, emotional manipulation, manipulation, gaslighting, non-con sonic, PDA, delusional behavior, forced relationship, stalking.
Note- this is just for fun! Also, I'm still trying to correct Sonic's personality, so bare with me please.( This is the sonic from the anime! But you're welcome to imagine another version as well) Having a lot of fun with writing, might actually make a one-shot! Maybe. There are more than likely a few spelling errors I looked over, so bare with me again. This took to fucking long
Tumblr media
For sonic, I don't see it being love at first sight. this is because sonic is level headed, calm, and it's clearly shown how he acts around new people. He's not rude of course, but it does take a bit before he gets completely used to them. That being said, it's the same when you roll around. Still, he's not a jerk, but he just needs to get used to your presence. As a animal, it can be uncomfortable for them is someone new is where they normally hang out at, even if they don't show it, it's still there.
So, even when he does get used to you, it'll be a lot different. He'll actually start to go up to you and talk, not like he didn't before, but he enjoys it a lot more now. Not that anyone could notice. They just think it's the same ol sonic.
Now, up to the things that'll make him like you a lot more(maybe not in a healthy way): it could be a lot of things, maybe it was the way you were able to keep up with him, not speed wise. But his attitude. When ever he starts to wise up, getting cocky, you challenge him. He says how he's the fastest thing on earth, you say how shadow beat him that one time, and that there are millions of other universes out there. And you do it in the same cocky tone he speaks about in. Or how you always protect and care for his friends, how much you care for tails means the most to him, as much as he loves all of his friends, tails is his brother. So when he sees you patching he up after a the x tornado cashed, sonic will feel a sense of something, something he's never felt before. And dear God, when you take care of sonic is a nightmare for both of you, for different reasons; For sonic, it's because feeling you oh-so gentle touch on his skin makes him literally vibrate. While your reason is because he won't fucking sit still, but you figure it's because of him having a running craving. You couldn't be anymore wrong
Speaking of running, he will definitely make you run with him, even though you can never keep up. So he slows down a bit, not being with you exactly but a little ways away, just so he can tease you about how 'your almost there!' and when you scowl at him as he grins and Snickers. Kinda like in the first episode, where he's running backwards in front of team S, playing with them
Also, he gets unbelievably clingy, like, unreasonably clingy. when ever he's sleeping, or trying to sleep. If you walk by, he has no problem grabbing your wrist and pulling you on him. Even if your taller. He does not care, if he wants to cuddle, he will get those god damn cuddles. He will force your head to the nape of his neck, put his head on yours, and trap you with his arms. Normally, sonic would never do this, but the desperate need to now if your ok is a lot stronger than his shame for not giving you personal space. With sonic, you personal space is his personal space. You share bubbles
If your shorter than him, than good luck, cause he will use you as a arm rest. Tease you, pick you up like a rag doll, and all with that signature smug smirk. And it gives him an advantage to trap you to, when ever you try to get up from a cuddle, he'll pull you back. Curling above you as you whine about wanting to get up. He chuck, putting all of his body weight on top of you. Teasing you about how ' what are going to do about it?' And as you whine, and huff and puff. He will not move.
Now, if you get up for another reason, like going outside, or getting his friends. And that's when his more... Concerning side shows. He literally can not function when you out of his sight, his anxiety and possessivnes getting the best of him, he'll always run off to find you. The discomfort of you not there is unbearable. so when you try to leave his sight willingly. He panics, and uses the best trick in the book, manipulation.
" but i don't want you to get hurt! Eggman's been stepping it up lately, who knows what he'll do to you if he captures you! And more than likely, he'll use you as bait, and maybe we could get hurt trying to save you, there's no telling what Eggman's got planned. And you can never be to careful."
" And if your with me, you will never get hurt, no one will! So why don't you came back, and cuddle with me again."
Yea, it's really bad. And note how it wasn't a question, the last one. Even if you disagree, sonic will force you back to bed, saying how you've been overworking a lot lately anyway, and that what a better way to relax than to cuddle with your 'friend' sonic. He'll force you under him, curling above you as he keeps on saying it's so you, and your friends won't get hurt. But at this moment, he could care less about his friends, he just cared about you. But from your point of view, your scared about what he's doing. And how for just being a hedgehog, speed wasn't the only thing going for him, it was strength to. You never expected this, you thought back to the hedgehog you were talking to not even 10 minutes ago. Your best friend, the one that would lend a hand, the shoulder you could cry on. Was not who you were looking at, this was someone else.
Now, if you go back to him without a fuss, it will be a lot better! He'll pull you back to him, laying down with you. And will go back to talking, like you weren't just trying to leave him (in his thoughts). Speaking of his thoughts, in both instances. The one thing he will be thinking is; ' why are you trying to leave me?" And while on the outside he looks unbelievably calm. But on the inside he's freaking out, scared, and worried for what he did that would make you want to leave. Was it something he said? Something he did? Did someone tell you something about him? Who was it? Lover's quarrel? Ah, that had to be it.
He's so delusional that he won't even ask you to be his girlfriend, assuming that you guys are already in a relationship. So when you try to tell him that it's not true, he'll act like you're the crazy one
"you uh, feeling ok baby? Don't know how you could forget that we're in a relationship, but that's okay! I'll let it slide. This time"
" y/n, for the last time! It's okay that you forgot, I'll make you remember."
This guy has the biggest ego in the sonic universe, so he'll automatically assume, that again, your in a relationship. I mean, it doesn't matter if he asks or not; he saves you, is there for you, protects you, stands up for you, traps you from harm, feeds you, cuddles with you, and so much more! What's the point in asking?
And besides, he loves you so much more than those other. Things. You should be grateful he looks your way!
But, even though he'll save you from harm. Sometimes, he's the one that puts you in it just to impress you, only you. He'll never let you actually get hurt, just captured. And he'll save the day by swooping in at the last second. Getting your praise is one of the most important things in his life, something he couldn't possibly live without, something truly out of this world, or, universe.
And when ever your out, oh boy. Be prepared because he does not hold back, he'll always be touching you, it's so he nows you're still okay! You're not hurt. And he won't be subtle, he does not give two fucks about what other people think; He'll wrap his arms around your waist from behind as your looking at something, hold your hand, wrap his arm around your neck, kiss your cheek, forehead, and nose. Once again, he doesn't give a flying fuck.
He's also stupidly overprotective. He'll follow you around, and it's not like you could catch him at the corner of your eye or run from him. He's the fastest thing alive! And he's not stalking you! He's simply protecting you, wouldn't want Eggman to steal you away! Now would we?
There's not many things that sonic will lose his cool over, he's probably one of the most chill people you will ever meet. But, that doesn't mean he'd never go apeshit. And one of these things are people, people talking to you. Why are they around you? They shouldn't even be breathing the same air as you. He sees people that you talk to as a threat, even if their the least threatening person on the planet. He doesn't care, and he will gladly scare them away. Without you knowing of course, all he has to do; is look at them in the eye from behind you, glow dark, Make his eyes white, and bam! Their running off. But no one else sees this of course! He wouldn't want to ruin his reputation, now would he?
And when you two are alone, he'll plant doubts in your head about your friend or friends. Making you eventually believe that their not a good person, and it always works. He won't stop until it does.
" I don't really like this Joseph guy y/n, he's tried to hurt people in the past. What do you mean I'm lying? I've seen him do it in person! What makes you think that I haven't? I stopped him from doing it before, and I'll stop him from doing it again!"
A sigh, "i'm sorry y/n, it's just-i don't want you to get hurt, please understand that I'm only trying to help and protect you. And by doing that, I'm warning you of this guy before he does something."
" are you sure about this? I'm not so sure you should go out with her tonight y/n, or any other nights. What I mean is that she's not a good person, she manipulates people. I've heard she doing it! Why do you think I wasn't to happy with being 'introduced' to her by you?"
And even with all the lies, he truly feels like he isn't hurting you, he genuinely believes that he is just protecting you. He's not intentionally isolating you, nor will he call it that. He's just protecting you from the dangers of this fucked up world, and if he wants to shelter you. He will
But, even after all he's put you through, remember. He'll " always love you!"

AHHHSHFBTKFNTLFKGNFMDM SONIC 3 TRAILER SONIC 3 TRAILER SONIC 3 TRAILER IM LOOSING MY SHIT RN
here’s some things i noticed/wondered/loved:
- i think in that scene where tom is on the ground yelling for sonic, he is wearing a special forces suit. maybe he upgraded from cop to working with gun?? if so i think that’s a really good use of his character actually! he wanted to save a life and raise a family above all else yes, but he still got his previous dream of doing more serious cop work!
- shadow just. has a big ass portal?? like holy shit he’s just suckin the life outta earth and ig that’s one way to do it (or maybe it’s just a ring and i’m stupid idek)
- i’m sure we’ll learn more about this in the actual movie so i’m not too worried, but i’m super confused at the very beginning scene. apparently sonic didn’t change his heart…but he did tho? like he learned what being a true hero meant in the last movie. tbh i feel like that’s enough but hey i’m not against more character development for our boy so!! (also that bit where he’s like “in my lungs” was actually really funny to me, ben schwartz’ awesome delivery caught me off guard)
- GERALD ROBOTNIK ALIVE HUUUUH?! tbh i would’ve preferred if maria was alive, i feel like that would be an interesting dynamic. but also ig that would make it harder for shadow to learn anything so i totally get it. anyways i’m just glad they’re putting a little twist on the story, it keeps it interesting. they already sorta did that with the knuckles and iblis thing actually! (even if that show sucked ass and although that probably wasn’t intentional 😭)
- even tho bro only got like… 3 lines, i really think keanu fits shadow. he’s very soft spoken in comparison to the rest of the case which feels nice. also he’s like the “really bad” guy so ofc he’s not gonna be yappin on and on like sonic or robotnik and he’s gonna take things uber seriously.
- where was my girl maddie :( i think she was only in like a singular frame. hope shes in the movie a somewhat significant amount. i heart pretzel lady!! could live without wade tho like pls im so sick of his bowling soap opera 💀
- FAT ROBOTNIK FAT ROBOTNIK FAT ROBOTNIK!!! after fucking 3 movies they finally fulfilled jim carrey’s wishes!! let the man get creative like please i love jim carrey sm aughdfhfnfmschxj. also love how we got so much stobonik content within that short scene like jesus come get y’all’s food
- shadow at one point says something along the lines of “when we’re done, there won’t be anything left.” maybe i’m reading WAY to into this but what does the “we’re” part mean?? is he working with others? i feel like this is either gonna be team dark or some new movie exclusive character(s). edit: someone made a valid point that he’s actually probably referring to gerald (look at reblogs!)
-CHAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lowkey wonder if the room therye in is like an amusement park or somethin like that
- no sign of amy :( but honestly my prediction now is that she’s gonna be the post credit scene teaser cus they always do a new character reveal there. first tails, then shadow. and honestly now i think it might be better that way so shadow can have a chance to breathe and show his story in full. i’m pretty sure i vaguely remember colleen (tails’ VA) being kinda mysterious about amy’s appearance when asked, and also the fact that it was confirmed that this isn’t the end of the movie franchise/universe. but ig we’ll just have to wait and see!
so sorry i stated this yesterday morning to give my initial thoughts but then got busy and completely forgot to post/finish it. and today i started (and am close to finishing) a very long edit of the trailer, so be on the look out for that too!
genuinely i feel like this movie is gonna somehow be even more record breaking than any of the previous movies and i am so here for the hype 🙏

Movie Amy Rose future AU
This post is kinda ironic knowing the rumors of Silver is the next character being introduced in the fourth movie or the end credits for the third movie. To save myself from going into another rant I’m just gonna say I don’t feel too great about the idea (especially with the possibility of them skipping Amy again or cramming way more characters into Amy’s debut movie than they did for Shadow).
Believe it or not, I drew this to cope with the possibility that they may cram a bunch of characters in the fourth before the stuff about the rumored silver spin-off came out.🫠
Anyway, this is how I would see an Amy Rose, Silver the Hedgehog, Blaze the Cat, and Metal Sonic movie.
Context
Amy and Silver are from a time organization that protects the timeline throughout the galaxy. Amy is gifted with the ability to see the future and summon her hammer (and other abilities). Silver is gifted with powerful psychic abilities unmatched by other fellow psychics within the organization. Together they were a powerful duo when assigned on missions. They were also friends with a tight-knit dynamic that strengthened their bond inside and outside of missions. This doesn’t mean their team was without fault. Although they both have a similar optimistic outlook on things, they have different ways of fighting for the future they envision.
Though Silver is an optimist he is also naive, he’ll take anything the organization gives him as the truth. If the organization tells him he needs to make a sacrifice for a brighter future he’ll do it. Amy is the opposite, she looks to one's past, present, and future to find another solution rather than stick to the organization's rigid ones. She believes in fate and destiny but she will challenge it and look for a different perspective if it means a brighter future for the universe or just one person. This often causes conflict between Amy and the organization but things usually turn out ok despite Amy’s differing approach to assignments. Silver was fine with this, Amy's way always brought even better results than the organization offered and as long as the future was secured there was no harm in a different path.
That was until a very dangerous variant infiltrated the organization threatening the timeline. Fortunately, they were able to contain it and learn of his origins. The dangerous entity was Metal Sonic, a future variant, a roboticized Sonic the Hedgehog. Deeming the threat too dangerous to exist they order Silver and Amy to terminate Sonic the Hedgehog before he becomes Metal Sonic (or lead to his birth). While Silver accepts the mission with a heavy heart, Amy refuses stating that there must be another way. This time the organization is not budging on their decision despite Amy’s grievances. If she would not cooperate she would be removed from the mission and forbidden from intervening.
Sensing a darker motive for the organization wanting Sonic the Hedgehog gone for good, she raced against Silver to protect Sonic from his assigned fate. One fight later Amy shakes Silver off her trail by stranding him in another dimension. Fortunately for him, in the loss of one ally, he gains a new one in Blaze the Cat, princess of the Sol dimension. Once he makes her aware of the danger Sonic/ could bring to her world and the universe she quickly allies.
Unbeknownst to anyone metal Sonic has escaped containment upon Silver and Amy's departure and he seems to be set on tearing the universe and time itself apart. He also seems to be targeting Amy for some strange reason.

since both angel island and the master emerald both still exist in the boom universe, i find it highly amusing how boom knuckles has utterly rejected his connection to the island and what would effectively be his birthright. and it’s fascinating every version of knuckles has gotten at least one line that suggests there’s basis for the idea of boom knuckles chose to be like that specifically in rejection of the role as guardian of the master emerald - though he embraces his role as guardian of team sonic instead.
you know what would make that funnier? if a lot (but not all) of the archie/kenders echidna bs also took place in boom. no, it wouldn’t be very in line with what sega approves of regarding the setting but i don’t care about that? so anyways think about how funny it would be when knuckles was just like “man this shit sucks.” and left.
SO. here’s my proposal: boom locke. a very comedy-oriented setting with tongue-in-cheek jabs and references is exactly the kind of place where the amount of jokes about him being pathetic and divorced would be numerous. he’d be like a furry bill dauterive.
he receives a lot of flack from the rest of the guardians following knuckles’ departure from the island, since he’s the first and only one to have gotten divorced. he can’t exactly provide them with a new heir to the role, so he’s exiled to the surface until he’s able to find knuckles. that’s where he’s been for six years - traversing the lands, looking for his son... but he’s been looking in all of the wrong places.
if he ever finally finds knuckles it would not take very much for team sonic to convince him to just not go back to angel island like knuckles never did. they could forcibly subject him to meh burger. amy would try to play armchair psychologist with him. it’d be great.

I'm not sure if they ever gave an official explanation as to why Shadow joined GUN, but I've seen plenty of people say that it's strange he joined the organization that basically ruined his life, and yeah it is weird.
I have come up with a headcanon that explains it though. He joined them to make sure they never do something like they did on the ARK ever again. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer as they say. Not to mention the whole reason that all happened was because GUN wanted him as a weapon. I think he'd be concerned that they might go after his new friends if he doesn't give them the impression that he's under their command.
So he joined, hoping to gain their trust and keep an eye on their activities. Rouge is also in on it, and definitely has hacked into their database to view top secret documents. If they ever find out that GUN is planning another senseless massacre, then Team Dark plans to sabotage it from the inside out.
Not a ShadAmy headcanon specifically, but you could imagine that Shadow would be reluctant to share this information out of fear of being jeopardized. Perhaps it could be used for drama. Have fun writers~!
I really, really like this. It’s my new favorite explanation for something that’s always bothered me about this franchise. Thank you!
It doesn’t just make sense objectively, it matches Shadow’s experiences perfectly. I often say Shadow would cling to Amy because he knows how easy it is to lose someone, but I love the idea of him taking it in a darker direction, too, picking up on the possibility of another tragedy happening and preemptively taking steps to stop it. I think people see Shadow as rash because he’s so extreme in his actions, but that is careful for him. Those aren’t mutually exclusive:
Tumblr media
[IDW issues 5 & 6]
Team Dark standing with him is always great, too.
Another thing I like is that it gives Shadow agency. Based on Commander Tower’s behavior at the end of ShTH and his actions in Shadow: Dark Beginnings, Sega seems to want us to believe the Commander is a nice guy who’s good buddies with Shadow:
Tumblr media
“Shadow, do you read me? First, I...I want to...apologize, for the other day...actually, I just became a grandfather last week, and I was thinking of maybe having you over.”
Tumblr media
Commander Tower, probably: “Sowwy I twied to shoot you, uwu. It’ll never happen again! 🥺”
And, uh...I don’t buy that, frankly...but it doesn’t seem to me that G.U.N.’s keeping him under their thumb, either. As interesting as that concept would have been, I don’t think it’s what Sega’s going for. It lines up better with canon if Shadow’s choosing to stick around for his own ulterior motives. I think having him actively decide to keep G.U.N. close for that reason strengthens his character.
Your headcanon is even stronger now in the wake of Takashi Iizuka’s pre-Shadow Generations interview (which happened after this ask was sent, btw), specifically the question at 3:20:
youtube
(Side note: I have so, so many issues with what he says here–no other motivation? None at all?! You’ve got to be kidding me! But that’s a rant for another day.)
This all but confirms that working with them is a choice for Shadow.
It also perfectly demonstrates something that really irks me about Sega: their lack of communication about basic aspects of the characters’ lives. Most fans speculated for what, almost two decades, about whether a main character is employed or not, and Sega just drops it in a random interview? Not even in a game? It’s such basic information, yet they didn’t tell us for 19 years. And gee, why would we get that impression?
Tumblr media
[Archie Sonic Universe issue 1]
It’s like even the official writers at Archie thought he was a G.U.N. agent. Sega couldn’t be bothered to tell them, let alone us. We don’t even know where some of these characters live. It’s kind of silly once you think about it.
Yeah. “Silly.” Let’s call it that. 🤨
Thanks for the ask!

So if you’ve had any guesses on how the story and plot for Sonic 3 would be, what do you think that it would be?
Tumblr media
Hi Hon!❤️✨
I’ve thought about this a lot these past couple of years. Reading through interviews, gathering concept art, and reading tweets from the production crew of SCU, I think that I’ve got an idea of what Sonic 3 will be about. I’ll put a “read more” section down below in case y’all don’t want spoilers.
I think that Sonic 3’s going to be a massive mind-fuck. I think that we’ll be on an emotional roller coaster with Shadow’s story and gain some details that were lacking on his creation. Even though it will be movie-canon, it might provide a sense of closure in exploring Shadow’s relationship with Maria and what happened to him a bit before being sealed away by the government. I also think that we’ll experience a reality check with Sonic on this one too. We’ll see how Sonic processes this information and help resolve the issue in the end. Shadow and Sonic are often perceived as reflections of each other. I think that we’ll explore what happens when the universe gives you a chance to be good (Sonic) and a chance to be bad (Shadow).
The message of the movie might reflect the importance of team work, maturity, and acceptance. Teamwork being that it’s okay to accept help from others when needed—you’re not weak when you ask. Maturity being that not everything is fun and games. Some situations can’t be relieved with humor. Acceptance being that not everyone can be saved, not everyone is worthy of chances, and not everyone can live up to being and having something that they want. However, acceptance can also lead to a new purpose and wish if one is open to it.
I definitely feel like “teamwork” will be a message for this film as well. In “Drone Home,” we’ve seen that the boys struggle to match each other’s strengths and abilities. However, when they’ve communicated with each other they worked fairly well. Teamwork doesn’t necessarily mean that you have an appointed leader. It could mean that you’re all equals; you all know your strengths, weaknesses, and how to build each other up. Communication is key! It looks like Sonic has a pretty good idea of how to help, but it’s up to him to encourage Tails and Knuckles to tag team.
I think that Sonic 3 will explore the world a bit more. Most Sonic games take place on earth, not Mobius. “Mobius” is an Archie concept, not a game concept. The places that we see in games are zones on earth. This is what the movies get right—we explore different zones while on earth. These “zones” are locations in which the chaos emeralds were sent to. In 2022, Tyson Hesse explained on Twitter that Super Sonic scattered the emeralds across the world and broke the bond that they had with the Master Emerald (this means that they are separate objects now instead of one). I think that zones will be utilized in this third installment by having us travel around the world to collect the emeralds. Have the emeralds warp reality a bit and make each encounter a bit chaotic/fun.
I think that we’ll see more of Longclaw. I hope that she has something to do with Shadow’s creation. The books heavily imply that she not only knew of humans, but have engaged with them. I’m willing to argue that she’s engaged with Gerald Robotnik and informed him of the Master Emerald, which could lead him into creating artificial chaos in the first place. That, and the need to have ultimate power for his experiments. This would be a good explanation on how Shadow has chaos-like abilities similar to Sonic and Knuckles. On top of that, Shadow’s spinoff game is also an element used for this story. Use this interaction between Gerald and Longclaw to educate him other extraterrestrial entities in the universe.
I think that Shadow’s purpose of creation for SCU could go in many directions. However, the main point(s) would be for him to be a revolutionary discovery in immortality, a cure for Maria, and a weapon used for Earth to fight against extraterrestrials. Gerald—if existing—discovered aliens and caused the catastrophe in 1974 in Reno that put the government’s eyes on him. (Because why not? It would be funny if Gerald did). It’s been established in the Knuckles show that Dr. Robotnik had some sort of connection with his group of henchmen and G.U.N. Granted, G.U.N. is a newly established branch in the military, and nearly everyone involved with Dr. Robotnik was killed, but the concept has been around for years. I feel that same group is what helps fund the government research project for Shadow. Make Shadow an X-Files.
I think that Tom and Maddie might have smaller roles—mainly there as emotional support for the fluffers—but might have roles that were similar to Mr. Steward and Scarlet Garcia in Sonic X. They help pick up the bits and pieces of Project: Shadow to relay to Sonic and Co. in order to save the day. I don’t see either Tom or Maddie being the ones to give the (supposed) humanity talk to Shadow, but I can see them dropping hints to our anti-hero about saving the world.
Dr. Robotnik’s arc is all about revenge. He’s furious that the government wiped his existence clean from any existing record, as well as angered by Sonic. He could use this as a motive to seek vengeance on the world. His fuel could also be driven by seeing The Buyer’s past events as a “final tipping point.” Have him see that the Buyer tried to play the same game as himself and get angered over an Eggman-Wannabe. This should be what sets him off. Make that the tipping point in unleashing this crazed revenge story from Dr. Robotnik and seek out a need to eradicate the world. And use this energy for him to raid G.U.N.’s facilite to find Shadow and more about his family’s history with the government. Dr. Robotnik’s revenge is more like, “I won’t have you forget about my existence and I WILL enslave this entire world no matter how many times you try to rid me.” Oh, and have Agent Stone be a little gremlin as well😁
I don’t see Shadow dying. I think that Shadow’s arc can go in either two different directions: 1). Shadow has a supposed death and leaves everyone in a depressive state, but we see in a post-credit scene that Shadow did survive and goes off on his own; 2). Shadow thinks that he might die, but Sonic saves him just in time and they part ways. Shadow needs to part ways with Sonic and Co. at the end of the film. This separation is not a form of punishment. Shadow needs space. He needs that alone time to reflect upon everything that has happened, as well as what he strives to do in life. If he wishes to commingle with Sonic, he will come to him on his terms.
If we get a fourth movie, I think that this will make room for either Metal Sonic to appear or have Silver appear. Both have great potentials to be added to SCU. The quills that we’ve grown accustomed to in their glass-like chambers resemble too much like Chaos Drives. We’ve seen that when they’re plugged into machinery they match the same power that Sonic and Knuckles possess. This would be a great way to bring in Metal Sonic; he could be powered by quill energy become the next villain. This would also be a great way to bring in Amy Rose. Tie in both Sonic CD and Heroes to the story. With Silver, we have the Flames of Disaster. Other than the low-budget rock opera from the Knuckles series, we don’t have a true explanation of what this concept is in SCU. Have Silver travel through each zone to claim and defeat Iblis.
And… yeah! That’s what I’ve got! I do hope that this answers your question, my dear. This was a lot of fun to write! When I’m not tired I’ll explain my drabble on how Perfect Chaos can fit here too…

temporarily replacing my pinned post for @sonic-au-collision !!
Whether or not you've seen the original Bad Guys film by Dreamworks, Sonic: The Bad Guys is a fun story that I highly recommend checking out. Written by KitsunamiFennec and conceptualized + drawn by yours truly, the fic follows Surge the Tenrec trying to walk the road of redemption.
The Bad Guys team consists of Surge, Metal, Kit, Duo, Rough, and Tumble, all at varying levels of morality. After a failed heist, Surge begs Amy for a second chance at life (though secretly, it's a second chance at the heist). Amy, being the governor of Central City now, and still wanting to see the good in everyone, enlists Sonic the Hedgehog himself to give the Bad Guys a much needed lesson in remedial goodness. If he fails, the Bad Guys are at the mercy of the Diamond Cutters.
More info under the cut! (Warning- LOTS of spoilers and mentions of death!)
Sonic: The Bad Guys contains a lot of background information, both canon and non canon to the games and IDW comics. First and foremost, all of Bad Guys happens because of Sonic's twist in morality- where once Duo is unmasked as Mimic, Sonic begs the Diamond Cutters to let him off scot-free. Even after Whisper, Tangle, and Lanolin explain Mimic's actions, Sonic argues that without second chances and leaping to imprisonment or death, the Restoration would just become a death cult. He pauses to realize that this would make him evil.... But that seems right to him. So the supporters of Sonic, the world's greatest hero, stand against the Diamond Cutters, sparking the Restoration Civil War.
This whole time, Gadget has been watching. Seeing Infinite get absorbed by the Phantom Ruby, he'd always thought that maybe if fate had been different, the jackal could have been good. He's held that mentality since- and stood with Sonic during the RCW. So even as Sonic's closest friends backed away from him over the years, Gadget didn't. Once Tails left, Gadget remained by his side. Sonic even confessed to killing his mother, both for the money and to get his name back in the paper, and yet Gadget stood alongside him. Taking note of his technical knowledge and respect for the hedgehog, Sonic decided Gadget would become his butler (or second-in-command, as Gadget saw it), taking on the role of Cuddles.
Now, as I'm sure you've figured out if you've seen the original Bad Guys, Amy is this universe's Crimson Paw- the Rascal. How she came to be this way is all truly because of Sonic. Over the years, Sonic had become more and more self centered- little jabs at his friends here and there, constantly taking the credit for everything he and his friends had done. Fed up with this, Amy decided she could become a thief with her strength, skill, and kind nature no one would suspect her for. Besides, Eggman had been arrested. It's not like anything would be getting in the way of her plans. She revealed her criminal identity to Rouge, and the two teamed up to steal the Gem of Light Gaia from the Mineral Museum.
Afterwards, Rouge filled Amy in on the new criminal team on the block, the Bad Guys. Amy nearly crashed the getaway car hearing who was on it, but then decided that a ragtag group of misfits wasn't going to rob her of her title. So she and Rouge made a bet- whoever could steal the Awardy Award without being caught wins 30,000 rings from the loser. But Amy soon abandoned thievery to run for office, realizing that bigger, scarier looking Mobians would take the blame. Rouge used this to swipe the Awardy, but was caught by Amy- and as a government official, that meant Rouge owed her 30k. To clean up her unfinished business, Amy returned the Gem of Light Gaia to the Mineral Museum. Sonic butted in and said she should have it- it was "only fitting". Amy panicked internally, but brushed it aside. She had the Bad Guys to deal with.
Speaking of the Bad Guys, they're off trying to rob a haunted house. Surge pranks them into thinking the ghost of Noia the Jackal is after them, so the other Bad Guys give her a taste of her own medicine and make her think the ghost straight up killed them.
Then the main story takes place. Sonic's reveal as evil, the Bad Guys redeem themselves, Surge DECIMATES the fourth wall, everything from the film.
But Lanolin and Whisper still aren't satisfied. Specifically with Duo and Surge- how come all they got was a year in prison after everything? They place a trap for the Bad Guys, only for Surge and Duo to reveal they knew it was a trap, and they take full responsibility for their actions. They note they've changed and want to move on, and they understand if Whisper and Lanolin don't want to forgive them, but at the very least they don't have to be at each others throats.
On the subject of Duo: Ever since the deaths of the original Diamond Cutters, he's been haunted by them in his nightmares. He's pretty sure they're hallucinations, but the chance of them being literal ghosts is never zero. Once the Bad Guys redeem themselves, his ghosts disappear- except Slinger. The one whose face he wears. Duo makes a promise to Singer, that from now on, this face is in his honor, no longer a manipulation tactic.
Throughout all of Sonic's old "friends", all of them (sans Gadget) left to go and do whatever they were doing before him. Knuckles went back to Angel Island, Silver stayed in the future, refusing to work with Sonic unless absolutely necessary, etc. But one thing was still uncertain- Where was Tails? After Aleena's death, he'd completely vanished. Well, you can tell it's a small world when you travel to Spagonia for art inspiration and find out he's been there helping out at the university the whole time. Kit sat down with him, and Tails, now going by Miles, explained everything. Everything that happened with Sonic. The teasing, the limelight, he'd even realized Sonic killed Aleena. Kit wrapped Miles in a huge hug and told him he wasn't alone, and hopefully Miles will be a little more open to befriending others.
We've also done a short story for the Nine's Nine-Tailed Travel Guide to the Multiverse event, where Nine learns Sonic's been arrested and that the Bad Guys are pretty cool. But he decides not to stay, and to find somewhere else. Is this canon? I'd say it's up to you.
And finally, the last bit of extra content we have (to date, we're planning so much more) is Surge's Zenith. The ultimate test to see if she's truly pure of heart. If she can go super to stop Zavok's attack, she's truly a hero to the public. So naturally, guess what she does!

So here we are with yet another all-call for fictives, introjects, kins and the like from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe! Because guess what? I've been gaining my canon memories back!! Mainly searching for my canonmates but any sourcemates are so welcome to interact :)
I'll leave a description of myself/my memories and my story below the break! If you happen to remember me or anything sounds familiar, please please please shoot us a message! Especially Sage or Ivo please I miss you guys ;-;
Hi! In this life I go by Yami. I don't remember my original name, sadly. I am the twin or younger sister of the late Maria Robotnik. I share many of her physical features - blue eyes, blonde hair, fair skin, and so on, - and was blessed enough to be born perfectly healthy and never contract the same illness as my sister. I stayed on the ARK voluntarily to be by her side and wanted to help our grandpa (Dr. Gerald) search for a cure for her.
He experimented on me. I don't recall many details of this, but it undeniably happened. As a naive kid I had no idea what was truly going on, I trusted him blindly. I would turn out to be the precursor - and catalyst - of Project Shadow, after breakthroughs in working with alien DNA brought about new opportunities for research. I was given a prototype of what would become known as inhibitor rings and told never to take them off or the consequences would be dire.
I would aid Dr. Gerald in his work on Project Shadow, quickly becoming attached to the new lifeform and beginning to doubt the morality of what we were doing. But I was a kid. I couldn't do anything about it. All I could do was reach out to Shadow once he finally gained consciousness and offer support, which I did. All of my time was spent with him or looking after Maria.
Of course all good things must come to an end. Long story short, ARK raid, G.U.N. bad, lost my sister and Shadow and I were separated. Gerald had a plan to preserve the three of us but the execution was very botched, and I was the only one successfully secured and placed in stasis while my best friend was carted off to prison island. Fast forward somewhere between 45 and 50 years, a certain blue hedgehog stumbles across me and wakes me up. He was cool and all, but the moment I met Ivo I knew who I'd end up siding with. Don't get me wrong, I'm not "evil", but hey.. another Robotnik, another curious and ambitious scientist who might be just a little crazy. We clicked, what can I say?
From then on I'd live with Ivo in his lair, helping out like I did for gramps. I was sort of a neutral force here. I didn't hurt anyone or let anyone be hurt. I sided with Ivo but ultimately became friends with Team Sonic as well. And then, we discovered Shadow was in fact alive, and busted in in what was essentially a giant middle finger to the people who'd taken so much from us, taking my best friend back.
(something something Sonic Forces, don't remember that part of the timeline and I'm not sure it actually happened)
Then the time comes for Ivo and I to make a trip to the Starfall Islands to do some investigating around the ancient ruins there, and some cyberspace shenanigans ensue. I may or may not have gotten a little distracted by the Koco (they're adorable, okay?) before running into Sage, who'd already encountered Sonic doing Sonic things and activated the Titan Giganto.
God I miss Sage. Naturally we were on the same team, trying to save Ivo from cyberspace (and prevent the world ending big bad from doing world ending big bad things). She was the smartest, sweetest, most curious AI, and while she followed her directive strictly we got along fine.
Then we get to Sonic trying to take down the Titan. Spoiler alert, it's stronger than it was in the game. He almost fucking dies. But seeing him get hurt flipped some kind of switch in me. Remember the inhibitors I mentioned earlier? For the first time in years, I cast them aside, recklessly following the voice of instinct inside that told me I needed to do something. And holy hell, I'm powerful. It was really exhausting though, I could only really maintain control long enough to stop Sonic from becoming a hedgehog pancake on the ground and retreat before passing out. Sage found my rings and I had them back on as soon as possible. See, they work differently than Shadow's; they suppress whatever abilities I have completely rather than regulating it. And yes that was an intentional move by the doctor. He didn't want anyone finding out he'd shoved black arms DNA into his human grandkid for obvious reasons. But I digress.
The last thing I remember chronologically there is gradually exploring my powers there on Kronos Island. I was terrified, not gonna lie. But Sonic has a way of putting people at ease. god I miss him too. In what felt like no time I was learning to control and use my new abilities. I could move pretty damn fast! Not as fast as him of course, but it was fun to try. That's such a beautifully fond memory of mine, it makes me so happy to think about.
And there you have it, basically everything I remember about my past life. Sourcemates, canonmates, please I am begging you our messages are open and we will give you our discord! Just ask! Thank you <3

Sonic Prime Extended Universe HCs - New Yoke
so we know that the Shatterverses aren’t “real,” full universes, just distorted reflections of the Prime that aren’t fully-formed, hence why there’s only like 6 people and two locations. However fucking around is fun fun fun so I’m just gonna do a post for each universe dissecting where the other Sonic Universe characters would be and what they’d be up to. Please for the love of GOD add your own ideas/hcs in the comments I want us all to melt into creativity mush.
NEW YOKE
Team Chaotix are lowkey rebels. They pretend to be model citizens while aiding Rebel and Renegade’s forces from the sidelines. Well, when I say “they,” I mean all of them but Charmy. He is noooot the subtle type so they just hide him inside. This keeps him alive but his zoomies are insane. House has been on fire at least twice.
You guys know Fiona’s backstory in Archie where she was besties with Mighty and Ray and they tried to revolt and it didn’t end well? Yeah I feel like that literally happens 1-1 here; Mighty and Ray think Fiona is dead, she’s digging her way out of isolation. The boys are on the run and NOT having a good time.
The other 1-1 is Whisper’s backstory. oops
Tangle and Jewel are in the Resistance; Tangle’s a fighter obvsly, Jewel works espionage/organization/keeping Tangle from dying.
SatAM Freedom Fighters are literally just doing the same shit. However without Sonic they’re missing their most crucial team member (the Distraction™) so they have to be way more sneaky and careful. then again if there IS a New Yoke!Sonic he could very well be here so maybe they’re all just vibin
StC Freedom Fighters are here too; their resistance is way smaller and they can’t do a lot but they are doing their BEST okay?? Porker and Tekno are making some kickass robots and Shortfuse is a huge win for them. Johnny was their main fighter and uh. well. right before the Sonic Incident™ he kinda got blasted just like in canon. Sorry buddy
Vanilla and Cream are hiding the chao in their basement. Literally, they dug out a basement to function as a makeshift chao garden so that the little guys wouldn’t get killed by the mass roboticization. It’s not going too well because chao need clean water to survive and there’s only so much they can get. They’re not involved with the rebellion though; they’re doing all they can to keep themselves and their chao alive, and without meeting Amy or Sonic they’ve never made contact with the main cast. Perhaps, similar to Advance 2, they make contact when Vanilla gets captured for roboticization and Cream teams up with the rebels to rescue her?
Tikal peekin out of the ME cause she hasn’t seen Knuckles in a while: what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck
If we assume Robotnik has control of the Continents too, I like to think the Sonic X humans are running the rebellions over there. Chris has built Helen a rocket-powered wheelchair with guns on it and she is a little bit too happy about it
Elise is under a ton of pressure to keep her kingdom alive with the new dictatorship; they’re constantly checking in on her and roboticizing “criminals” in her kingdom and she hates it but if she objects they all die. Not having a good time!!
If Blaze is in this dimension she’s got a bit more freedom than Elise what with her superpowers; I feel like she probably has isolated her kingdom from the rest of the world while desperately trying to defeat oncoming invaders all by herself with her fire powers (+ with Silver maybe?). One day she goes too far and passes out, only to be saved by little Marine who encourages her to keep fighting.
Zeti peekin down at the planet below cause they’ve been seeing a lot of explosions lately: lol nice
actually Zeti would be a HUGe threat if they decided to invade. these bitches control electronics and you know what 90% of the planet is now
Sticks is THRIVING. Girl expected a robo-pocalypse for years and it finally came and now she’s rescued a few stragglers and they have a mini-civilization in her bunker in the woods. She often leads attacks on the robots just to fuck with the Council and also cause she thinks it’s fun.
Babylon Rogues aren’t on the Council’s side but they’re also not really helping the rebellion. They just run around stealing shit like they normally do
Surge and Kit happen after the Sonic Incident™; Starline tries to recreate Sonic’s power and it goes. about as well as you’d expect.
and finally, OUR BOTS:
the Edgy™ Scratch and Grounder concepts from Underground production are Real™
the reason we don’t see Orbot and Cubot here imo is that they’re running factories in farther areas. Not well but they’re doing an adequate enough job they haven’t been scrapped yet
Snively is also running a factory somewhere, but his obsequious nature might get him roboticized just out of annoyance one day.
Breezie is considered their most dangerous robot. She’s a shapeshifter and can disguise herself as a normal mobian in order to get information on the Resistance; they’re constantly terrified that anybody could be Her.
Robotnik JR is here too, also a shifter; he’s made to be a robotic duplicate of the Chaos Council for certain public appearances in case of assassination attempts.
Decoe and Bocoe I don’t see as being here, but I dO see Bokkun as being WAY scarier than funny here. He is a detonation-bot and he’s damn good at his job and he’s a scary lil gremlin guy
Hope lost most of her family and is living under the Chaos Council’s ““care””. She absolutely hates them and is trying to aid the Resistance, but she’s under constant observation and thus can make no actual contact with them. Every now and again she’s been able to delete a file or turn off a camera. There’s no telling how many of them she’s saved with these small acts. They don’t know she exists.
Belle and Sage are not here... yet.

Are the ArchieSonic comics actually an 80’s/90’s syndicated cartoon? Episode 66: Summary (part two)
This is part two of my summary and conclusion to my blog series investigating how the ArchieSonic comics were remarkably similar to the format of a syndicated cartoon from the 80’s and 90’s. If you haven’t already, you can read part one here.
Okay, back to it!
Episode 40: The one episode that’s unique to the show’s premise and characters
I chose four arcs for this one - Mecha Madness, Return to Angel Island, Iron Dominion, and Spark of Life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 41: Recap origin story in yet another clip show
They didn’t do it as more clip shows, but the origins of the series were further explored in new stories multiple times in both pre-boot and post-boot. Perhaps the most memorable instance is from Sonic #43, in which King Acorn was trapped in his memories and reliving Robotnik’s coup.
Tumblr media
Episode 42: Haunted house
We got this in the Sonic X comics, with issues 13 and 14 bringing in King Boom Boo from Sonic Adventure 2 and that one episode of the anime. Oh, and he was possessing everyone he could get his non-corporeal mitts on.
Tumblr media
Episode 43: Hero suddenly becomes elderly
This one happened in Sonic Super Special #8. It wasn’t pretty.
Tumblr media
Episode 44: Hero suddenly becomes six-to-eleven years old
This is another one we didn’t get in the comics, unfortunately. I used that episode as a good time to talk about the Sonic Kids comics, which gave us stories from when the Freedom Fighters were younger.
Tumblr media
Episode 45: Boys vs. girls
I feel like this episode is supposed to be about boys and girls on the same teams turning against each other, so for this one I’m going to say no, that didn’t happen in ArchieSonic. The closest we got was that one time in Sonic #14 when Robotnik and Snively kidnapped Sally and Bunnie because they thought, “lulz girls are weaksauce.” They got more than they bargained for.
Tumblr media
Episode 46: Unusually serious “drugs are bad,” episode.
Sigh, yes. The Chaotix Caper in Knuckles #13 - 15 is infamous.
Tumblr media
Episode 47: Evil alien invasion
In pre-boot there was the Xorda in Sonic #124 - 125. In post-boot there was the return of the Black Arms in Sonic Universe #59 - 62.
Tumblr media
Episode 48: Benign Alien Visitors
The most memorable example is Ceneca-9009 of the Bem, who came to Mobius to change all roboticised Mobians back to normal. After first testing champions on both sides, of course.
Tumblr media
Episode 49: Hero becomes blind. Magoo jokes aplenty. Ableism ages episode horribly.
Another one that didn’t happen in the comics. The closest instance was in the godawful Sonic Super Special 15, which featured ten freaking pages of Sonic wandering around in the dark or in a blizzard and unable to see crap.
Tumblr media
Episode 50: Major event that dramatically shakes up status quo. Turns out to be a dream.
I’m going with Sonic #37 for this one. Some might argue that Bunnie’s nightmare wasn’t really that big an event, but I would argue that one of the main characters slowly becoming a robot and turning on her friends definitely counts.
Tumblr media
Episode 51: Villains team up
Oh, so many times. So many times in fact that I had to make a second post for all the examples I forgot. Let’s go with that time in Sonic #62, when a whole bunch of locked up villains thought Snively had been responsible for their jailbreak and signed up to work with him.
Tumblr media
Episode 52: Rashomon homage
Yes, in Sonic Super Special #5. Sonic, Sally and Antoine all argued about how they each single-handedly defeated a combot that had attacked them.
Tumblr media
Episode 53: Henchman joins heroes for one time only.
Snively did team up with the Freedom Fighters in a couple of issues when Robo-Robotnik invaded Mobius before agreeing to work for the new Eggman. He would later join the Freedom Fighters for awhile, starting in Sonic #152. He eventually went back to the Eggman Empire again, of course, because he’s awful. Post-reboot he had left Eggman's forces and was supposedly working for GUN, but was secretly plotting his own conquest from within their ranks.
Tumblr media
Episode 54: Random child rescues hero. The episode’s all about them now.
There weren’t really any good examples that fit this one. Hope Robotnik and Ken Penders’ son and niece from the Sonic Live! special certainly had prominent page time in the stories they were involved in, but they never actually rescued Sonic, despite what this cover might have you believe.
Tumblr media
Episode 55: Invisibility potion
Yes, but it was so effective that everyone (even Sonic himself) thought that he was dead.
Tumblr media
Episode 56: The Writer’s Barely Disguised Fetish
Oh god, where do you even start with this one? Let’s just say yes, it happened on multiple occasions, and leave it at that.
Tumblr media
Episode 57: Can’t eat favourite food
Weeeeell, I guess so. There was that one time in Sonic #11 where he ate too many chilli dogs before bed and had a trippy nightmare. When he woke up he decided to go on a diet for about thirty seconds. (cue canned laughter)
Tumblr media
Episode 58: We have to save the environment, and so do you!
A lot of the early issues focused on stopping Robotnik from destroying the environment, but the best example of this one is probably the nuking of Robotropolis. Sonic managed to trick Eggman into turning on his city’s forcefield after the nuclear missiles were already inside, meaning that all the destruction and radiation was safely contained in an impenetrable bubble. In later issues Eggman and other villains would try to penetrate this shield, to release the radiation out into the surrounding environment.
Tumblr media
Episode 59: Stranded in the ocean
I’m going with Waves of Change from Sonic #260 - #263, where Sonic, Amy and Rotor had to go to the underwater city of Meropis on their quest to restore the shattered planet.
Tumblr media
Episode 60: Stranded in the desert
There are two instances here that fit this one best. The first one is Sonic #62/63 again, where Sonic and Tails crash their biplane in the desert and are “rescued” by the inhabitants of Sandblast City, who worship Sonic and refuse to let him leave. The other is the Knuckles mini-series, in which Knuckles and Archimedes were yeeted into the desert by Enerjak (something that seems to happen a lot with the various Enerjaks, I noticed).
Tumblr media
Episode 61: Stranded in the snow
Continuing right off from Sonic #63 when Sonic and Tails escaped from the desert, they ended up trapped in the snow in the very next issue when their biplane failed them yet again.
Tumblr media
Episode 62: Stuck in an elevator
I wasn’t able to find any instances of specifically being trapped in an elevator, so I broadened the category to its base trope, which is two people, usually enemies or rivals, being locked in a room together. There were lots of cases of this, such as when Dr Eggman and Dr Wily were locked up together during the Worlds Unite crossover.
Tumblr media
Episode 63: Clip show to set up two-part finale
Well, Sonic #283 was a set-up story for the finale of the Sonic Unleashed adaptation. It had two stories - the first featured Sonic and Sally calling their allies around the world to explain their plan and ask for help, and the second featured Eggman watching the pirated footage of that video call and making a counter-plan. Is it a clip show? Not exactly, but it’s close enough.
Tumblr media
Episode 64 - 65: Two-part Finale
I cited various finales (or planned finales, in the case of Endgame), including the end of the Knuckles series, the end of the Super Specials, the end of the Sonic X companion series, the end of the pre-reboot era, and the end of the post-reboot era. As I said in the final post, in my mind the proper finale of ArchieSonic is Sonic #287, despite the cancellation of the series not happening until three issues later and the fact that the last ArchieSonic comic ever published was actually Sonic Universe #94.
Tumblr media
So out of the 65 episodes listed, we didn’t get the hiccups episode, the Wonderful Life parody episode, the hero has a cold episode, the origin recap clip show episode, the hero regressing to childhood episode, the boys vs. girls episode, or the hero blinded episode. That comes to only seven out of sixty-five episodes that we never saw happen in the ArchieSonic series. But does this mean that the comic wasn’t really a comic at all, but actually a syndicated cartoon? Well, let me just quote myself from the very first post I did regarding this topic.
Tumblr media
So there you have it - of course ArchieSonic is a comic book series, there was never actually any doubt.
Before I finish up, I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has read this series, especially those who commented with encouragement, ideas and suggestions.
Tumblr media
In particular I feel that I once again owe a big thank you to former ArchieSonic contributor Aleah Baker, who not only read and commented on my pieces but also gave her precious time on more than one occasion to offer behind the scenes insight and answer my questions about certain issues or characters. She was incredibly generous with me and I’m extremely grateful for all the help.
This has been an extremely interesting topic for me to explore, and I’m going to miss writing about it. I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to do with this blog after this. A few people have suggested that I go into a full commitment to review the entire series rather than just portions of it like I’ve been doing with this blog series, and I have certainly been considering doing that. But on the other hand there are so many others who have done that so well - a few of my personal favourites are @robotnikholmescomicblog (who has branched out to video essays after finishing his initial reviews on Tumblr), the ArchieSonic Digest podcast, and of course, Bobby Shroeder’s @thankskenpenders. If I was going to do a full ArchieSonic review series, I would want to find a way to put my own spin on it rather than just rehashing what they have done. So I’m going to have to keep thinking on that. Thanks again for reading, everyone, and take care!

The Knuckles Series - Review
Okay. So.
Finished the series.
I have thoughts.
First of all, it was fun. I view it as kinda filler episode material, that if someone watched just the movies they wouldn’t miss much. I watched it with my family and there were times we were all laughing and cheering and just enjoying the ride. It was silly and fun and Knuckles was adorable in every scene he was in.
That said, was it perfect?
No. No, it was not.
Here’s my take on some problems.
~ Setup felt rushed
We had the barest glimpse into Knux’s difficulty adjusting to a life on Earth, which, honestly, just made it look like he wasn’t being challenged enough. He can’t go from being on the run and fighting for his life at every turn to just sitting around playing VR and goofing off. That’s just not who he is.
Not to mention, his interpersonal skills are practically non-existent. He fought his whole childhood away. Presumably, anyone who came near him either wanted to exploit him, use him, or fight him. So he’s used to just doing things on his own, with no one to answer to, or take into consideration. That’s what I saw at the beginning—and honestly, it may have been easily handled had Maddie sat down with him and actually tried to get to know and understand him a little better.
~ Maddie
I felt for her, I really did. And I get that she was frustrated. Tom’s off who-knows-where, and she’s left at home trying to get the damage to the house fixed, while keeping tabs on three super powered alien kids, one of whom is actively attacking handymen, dragging a ton of dirt and sharpened sticks into the living room to make a warrior fighting pit, and dismantling the car to build himself an Iron Throne in the dining room.
She’s frustrated, and doing everything she can to keep herself from snapping. She didn’t sign up for this, but now has to learn on the fly how to deal with three very different, and very special needs kiddos.
But her referring to Knuckles as “our little red barbarian friend” kinda rubbed me the wrong way. He’s not a barbarian. He’s a warrior. He’s a traumatized kid who feels like the honor of his entire tribe rests on his shoulders. He’s struggling with this change and instead of trying to sit down and talk to the kid to explain how things are done on Earth, and see if there was some kind of agreement they could reach to keep them both happy, she just kinda gives up and walks away. Not very understanding, and doesn’t make her come off looking very good.
~ Pachacamac
Okay, this is just weird. Pachacamac, for those who don’t know, in the games is the warmongering echidna tribe chief who led the warriors in an assault to take the Master Emerald’s power for themselves. In the process, they enraged Chaos, the God of Destruction, who all but wiped out the Knuckles clan.
I know, I know, game and movie universes are different. The movie team has taken liberties before with certain aspects of Sonic lore, so this shouldn’t be any different.
Except it is. Canonically, Pachacamac is not a good guy. He’s not even a morally gray character. He is not an honored chief, who trained Knuckles and is now his wise spirit guide. He was the cause of the fall of Knuckles’ entire tribe, thanks to his greed and lust for power.
Making Pachacamac essentially Yoda is like changing Robotnik into a kindly grandfather figure. I mean, what??
The only thing I can think this harkens back to is Longclaw’s little hologram message from the second movie, in which she gives Sonic a quest to find the Master Emerald before Knuckles does. Which, okay, it’s a lost loved one giving a final message to help direct the character on a new path.
Except, Pachacamac isn’t a lost loved one for Knuckles. We did not see any interaction between Knux and Pach. We did see interaction between Knuckles and his father, who would have been a much better choice to send his son on a new path.
(I did, however, see this post that makes SOOOOO much sense in why Pachy appears to Knux, and instructs him to train Wade, specifically.)
~ The Master Emerald
Speaking of, WHERE IS IT? It was referenced numerous times, but never shown once. The absolute least the show could have done was show it well secured, with a Tails’ created security system in place. Show Knux meditating near it, or praying to his ancestors that they can rest easy knowing that the Emerald is safely back in the hands of the echidna once more.
The absolute lack of a presence of it is strange, considering the pursuit of it was what caused the near extinction of both the echidna and the owls. It was Knuckles’ focus for his entire life. Yet he simply leaves it behind without a second thought?
~ Wanda
OMG I hated Wade’s sister. Just, hated her. She was immature, abrasive, abusive, unnecessarily antagonistic with Wade (which seemed to be a life-long thing if the flashbacks are anything to go by) and just struck me as someone who was overcompensating for something. She’s a bully and it’s no wonder Wade is the way he is if he had to grow up with someone like her.
~ No Closure
We didn’t see them arrive back home, where Maddie would hand them their asses for just disappearing like that and not telling her. She was likely worried out of her mind the whole time. And I would have liked to have seen Sonic and Tails try to cover for Knux’s absence, in funny little brotherly shenanigans.
As I said above, I still found it fun. I loved Mother Whipple. I loved Knux’s interactions with her. I loved how Wade grew over their little trip. It was an enjoyable ride, and my whole family really had fun.
How would I have done it differently?
Well, that’s a different post.

Note
Holly if you could design a Bionicle would you base it off one of the earlier forms or make a whole brand new flavor of them?
New flavour. There's so much neat shit you have to play with in this universe. You could have a wacky team with, like... Sonics, Gravity, Iron, Lightning, Psionics and Plant Life. I feel like there's lots of interesting & largely untapped space there for cool toy designs.

Sonic Universe Online #52 Behind The Scenes!
Hello, everyone!  Boy, it’s been a while since we’ve done one of these, huh?  But considering we finally managed to release this issue after its nightmarish production cycle, we decided that it was a good time to bring the “behind the scenes” posts back.  There’s a lot to talk about with this one, so get ready for a real doozy!
As usual, let’s start with the cover.  We wanted to have Bunnie and Scarlett as the focus, and RocketPOW! went through several drafts of what that would look like.  In the end, we settled on having them playing cards in the bar from Sonic Mania’s Mirage Saloon Zone to fit with the desert theme.  It’s also worth noting that we had Jack on the cover at one point but ultimately decided against it, since the story focuses more on his lackeys than himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before we start on the actual story, I guess we should begin with the elephant in the room: Bunnie’s redesign.  Even though we technically first saw her new look in issue 51, we might as well go over it now.  Picking up from where the official comic left off, we knew that Bunnie had a redesign after being legionized, but the reboot happened before we ever got to see it.  And with the redesign of such an important character, obviously there was a lot of pressure to do her justice.  There was some old concept art by Tracy Yardley of legionnaire Bunnie, but we didn’t want to just take that and call it a day.  We had quite a field day with many of our talented artists coming up with their own interpretations of her redesign, including @miitoons, @riggo-draws, @drawloverlala, @fritzymagpies, Tim Campbell, CrimDa, DoNotDelete, and more that I sadly can’t remember anymore.  From the shape and function of her cybernetics, her overall color scheme, her clothing, her hairstyle, her weapons, etc., every last detail was meticulously gone over until we arrived at the final design taking what we liked most from each of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first, we had gotten Tale to draw out the first several pages, and even though they were finished, he unfortunately had to step out of the issue and we had Gilgalad take over, better known as Thomas Rothlisberger, who we were lucky to have on the team before he moved on to the IDW Sonic comics.  For the sake of consistency (lol), we unfortunately had to scrap Tale’s pages so he could redo those as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Holly’s sickness isn’t elaborated on in the actual story, but the gist is that she’s a snow leapord who was roboticized during the First Robotnik War.  But after the Bem deroboticized her while she was in the desert, her body became sick due to being stuck in the inhospitable environment, which is an example of how misplaced many of the former Robians were being sent far out of their natural habitats, and losing the protection of their robot bodies was actually a detriment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Sonic fan with a good eye for detail may notice that the guard who takes over watching Bunnie after Scarlett is actually one of the unnamed members of Infinite’s Jackal Squad from the Sonic Forces prequel comic.  Since this cameo may or may not go anywhere in regards to Infinite in ASO, we opted against using Infinite himself since he’s too important of a character to pass off as a mere cameo.  If you want this plot thread to be expanded upon, let us know!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since this is where we introduce Holly and her relationship with Scarlett, it’s as good a time as any to discuss the process of their creation.  With Scarlett, we wanted to introduce a character who would serve as a foil to Bunnie, another person struggling due to their bedridden lover, but with diametrically-opposed views regarding cybernetics.  Her design was actually taken from a random Sand Blaster who appeared in a single panel of StH #218, who we decided to turn into a full-fledged character.  Although her species was unknown during her single appearance, we decided to make her a fennec fox.  On the other hand, Holly was an entirely new design that we came up with for the story.  The LGBT aspect of their relationship was actually the idea of my editor for the issue, The Shadow Imperator.  I stated in the interview after the issue that I was the one who came up with their names, but that’s not the whole truth.  There was a whole team effort dedicated to naming the two of them, before I suggested Scarlett since there was an abandoned plot point about how Bunnie’s true name was at one point planned to be Scarlett O’Hare.  Our Scarlett’s full name is Scarlett O’Fenn, with ShadImp being the one to suggest adding the last name as well.  But since her last name didn’t come up in the story, I apologize for forgetting to mention it.  Holly was also one of several names I came up with, which was agreed on due to the sort of “snowy” feel it has to it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In my initial draft for Scarlett and Holly’s conversation, I wrote Holly as being more openly pessimistic about her condition, outright stating that Scarlett would be better off if she was gone.  But since that seemed rather inconsiderate to Scarlett’s feelings, ShadImp suggested that I tone it down a little and have her only mention feeling like a burden.  He was also the one to suggest that I make sure their romantic relationship is mentioned as explicitly as possible, so there would be no room for ambiguity that might lessen the impact of their sexual orientation.
Tumblr media
Scarlett taking off her hat here wasn’t actually in the script I wrote, but it was a smart move by Gilgalad, showing her letting her guard down around the one person she can afford to do so with.  To put it simply, Scarlett offers Holly physical support while Holly offers Scarlett emotional support, so neither one is one-sidedly supporting the other.  This scene also demonstrates that even though Scarlett is easily the most level-headed and compassionate Sand Blaster we’ve seen so far, some of the old bigotries and prejudice against cyborgs and robots that Jack instilled into her still remain.
Tumblr media
Gilgalad had actually already penciled out the next couple pages, but since he wasn’t able to stick around for the full story, we decided that that the end of Scarlett and Holly’s scene was a good cutoff point for the drastic shift in art style.  Red Rabbit is an amazing artist with a style very similar to Patrick Spaziante, but it is still a jarring shift compared to most other artists on the project.  I had also originally written Bunnie mentioning not being very good at undercover missions, but when ShadImp brought up her successful operation tricking Battle Lord Kukku I changed the script to have her mention that instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first, I was planning for the poker scene to have the characters holding cards that reflected their position in the conversation, such as holding a winning hand when they have the upper hand in the argument.  But since I have absolutely no knowledge or experience with poker, that idea ultimately didn’t come through in the final story.  This scene also serves to flesh out the Sand Blasters and show that none of them are blindly loyal to Jack.  Tex obviously has his own agenda, Avery just goes along with whatever’s the least troublesome, Shift wants to get his hands on new technology, and Jolt does genuinely want the city to open up to the rest of the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You may have noticed that instead of rocket feet like her old design, Bunnie now flies with a removable jet pack on her back.  If you’re wondering how that wouldn’t burn her tail off, it was specifically designed so that the fire trails would shoot aiming away from her tail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Originally, during the car chase sequence Bunnie’s jet pack was just written to malfunction for no real reason.  But eventually, I decided to give it a more interesting explanation by adding in hints that Shift may have intentionally sabotaged it to trip up Bunnie, only to reveal that he was actually trying to fix it and he didn’t betray her after all.  This was also the portion of the story where Ink Pants took over for pencils, and then Lav after him.  Even though they’re all fine artists in their own right, hopefully this will be the last time that we need to include so many drastic changes in art style to illustrate a single story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We almost had one more shift in art style, with @gendeerfluid penciling the last page.  In the end, Lav managed to finish that one as well, giving us a massive cliffhanger both figuratively and literally in the form of Jun Kun, the Iron King.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s about it for this one, folks!  Thanks for sticking with us all this time, and look forward to the conclusion of this story next issue.  Until then, keep on juicin’!
