#Iemitsu is the 'Young Lion of the Vongola'

Everyone knows the young lion of Vongola is married. He never shuts up about his adorable, doting wife. But only other CEDEF members got to experience that brief five year period where he was equally as gung-ho about their child.
Eventually, Iemitsu stops mentioning his precious, cute little Tsuna, though. He stops gushing about rosy apple cheeks and stumbling firsts filled with adoration. Instead, he becomes withdrawn. Strung out. Oregano, being his second in command and the one most attuned to him, idiocy and all, asks him about it. He smiles at her, but it’s strained. It doesn’t meet his eyes. It’s not like him, forever loud, forever moving forward, a sledgehammer in human form that busts down any wall in their way. As irritating as he can be… His position, and the respect it commands, her respect, have all been earned.
It takes Iemitsu a bit to collect himself. His jaw strains, then relaxes. His grin, normally a beacon of confidence, becomes bitter as he tells her why. “He woke up.”
“Oh, boss—“
A common misconception is that an early flame is a good thing.
Really though. No one wants that. No one wants their child to be locked into their world so early. To be a danger to themselves and others so soon.
“Is he-?”
“He’s fine. Nono came out to help, but… Sky Flame.” He shakes his head as if he can’t believe it. As if he weren’t a similarly young prodigy, one who wound up in the Vongola sponsored orphanage for non-mafioso children who were fated to join, the same place they would later snatch Basil up from. “What are the odds, y’know? It’s not like it’s totally genetic.” True, it was common for Sky to come from Sky, but it wasn’t… It wasn’t a guarantee. Nobody really understood the science of it. There were just too few of them existing in the world at any time. “I’m… I’m just glad he didn’t hurt his mother…”
It’s possible. Probable even, with Primo’s blood flowing directly in the boy’s veins, that one day… Little Tsuna will inherit the title of Decimo. It’s possible that one day, Iemitsu will stand in opposition of his own child.
She doesn’t know the full details of Xanxus’s frozen prison, but… She can guess why he’s there instead of in the ground.
Iemitsu is a family man, and vongola is his family.
For its sake…
“When he’s old enough. I’ll tell him everything I can.”
Out of courtesy, she keeps silent for a man grieving the loss of a future that will now never happen.
This is what it means to be the Boss.

So in one of my latest head au developments I have decided that Squalo's father kinda despises iemitsu and calls him "il giovane minchione dei vongola" (the young vongola fuck head), which is a play on "il giovane leone dei vongola" (the young vongola lion)
Hope you'll find this as amusing as I do

disharmony. 4/??
Daichi is hard to surprise. He has to be, to lead a clan filled with headstrong, bloodthirsty assholes. But the Sawada kids have come the closest to surprising him since Kyōya discovered tonfā. He knows who they are and whose kids they are. Daichi makes sure to keep tabs on the people with connections to the Underworld. They’re under his protection, after all.
READ ON AO3 OR READ UNDER THE CUT
The Hibari Clan Head might not be Underworld unlike some members of his clan, but they do keep him up to date on the current intel. Sawada Iemitsu hasn’t been to Namimori in over a year, causing a rise in the amount of Mafia scum he has to clear out of his Territory since the Young Lion can’t keep his damn mouth shut. He knows that Nana Sawada gave birth a few months ago and seemed even more airheaded than possible soon afterward.
Something’s not right.
He watches as the kids settle on the mats in front of him. The eldest, Tsunayoshi, nervously rubs his pants while his twin, Chiyohime, watches him with suspicious eyes. The youngest is asleep in Chiyohime’s arms.
“You’ve come to the Hibari for help, why?” he asks.
Tsunayoshi clears his throat nervously, eyes darting around the room before landing on his siblings and steeling his spine. “Something’s wrong with Okaa-san Hibari-san and I don’t know how to contact Otou-san for help.”
“What’s wrong with your Okaa-san?”
“She won’t touch Matsu-chan,” the boy answers quietly, “and she drifts around the house like a ghost.”
Postpartum Depression, possibly? Shinsuke’s wife suffered from it after Tetsuya was born. It probably doesn’t help that Sawada had fucked off back to Italy soon after getting her pregnant.
“Is there anything else?”
He shakes his head, some of that nervous energy returning. The twin hasn’t stopped watching him suspiciously, but he doesn’t begrudge her for it. With how much their parents have failed them already, he’d be suspicious of other people too.
Daichi hums thoughtfully as he weighs the pros and cons. He really doesn’t want to put the Hibari on the Vongola’s radar, but these kids are under his protection.
“I’ll help you,” he says.
Tsunayoshi lights up, slumping a little in relief.
“What do you want in return?” Chiyohime demands, speaking up for the first time.
“My son needs to socialize with people other than his cousin,” he answers dryly.
Tsunayoshi pales while Chiyohime presses her lips together. Daichi doesn’t let his humor show, Kyōya's reputation precedes him after all.
“You want us to be friends with your son?” she clarifies.
“Yes.”
Tsunayoshi trembles briefly then firms his resolve, his brown eyes almost gleaming with a hint of orange.
“We’ll do it.”

In the most recent chapter of Sakurademonalchemist's fanfiction "Mists of a Dawning Sky", it is said in the fanfic that Iemitsu is an inverted Sky. Do you think that this is a possibility or he just severely delusional and incompetent?
Izzy utterly hates the idea of Inverted/Polarized Flames, so no, I don’t consider it a possibility. Because it is assigning characteristics to people/characters as if that’s all they are. Which is akin to stereo-typing and nothing destroys a character as much as that; it reduces a complex being into a few facets and details and leaves them flat and not interesting. Never mind that it’s a load of assumptions based on too small of a sample size to be conclusive of anything. (Even the amount of Skies shown in KHR which is a greater number than any other Flame means nothing because we get no information other than ‘was former Donna Giglio Nero and Sky Arcobaleno’ or ‘was Vongola Boss at one point.’ We don’t actually have names for Dons 3-6? So we have no idea about their character and inclinations, history etc. So is Bad Science and often leads to Bad Writing and Confusing the Reader because what goes to what?)
Izzy will allow Classical to exist, as Classical Flame refers to ‘oldest and best known example’ which in KHR is the Vongola Famiglia who made Flames a Mafia Thing. And so most of the European Underworld has been influenced by existences of Giotto and his people. As Fon’s existence proves, the Vongola’s not the only Flame Tradition but it best known due to KHR’s narrative focusing on the Vongola. And Primo’s generation founded and is famous, so is the standard for ‘Classical.’
Well, the ‘Classical Ideal of the Vongola and Flames,’ since Propaganda is a Thing and the Mafia would Use it. Especially on a not-bright civilian teenager who wouldn’t recognize it or the implications due to lack of contextual.historical knowledge. It can be assumed that Reborn has Not Taught Tsuna Vongola History, outside of a few snippets here and there since those snippets are presented as New Information. Part of this can be assumed that Reborn is Affiliated to Vongola, not Part Of and so is Outsider so doesn’t know the details.
(If you want evidence of Propaganda at Work you only have to look at what Primo’s Generation is wearing. We may see Nothing Wrong but that’s because standards today amount to ‘not publicly and fully nude’ aka a man wearing swimming shorts or a woman wearing a bikini top and shorts isn’t a scandal in Western Society. Daemon as a Noble would not have his jacket worn open like that; it would be Indecent and Shameful. That they’re presented as such means they’re Viewed as wearing them. And that View had to come from somewhere. Like Propaganda which cares less about facts and more about ideas; specially their idea that they want you to believe in.
More evidence towards Tsuna’s nativity and Reborn using Propaganda is Tsuna’s seeming inability to understand what Vigilantism is. ‘Go back to the Vongola’s roots,’ and ‘following Promo’s ideal’ is one thing to say, another thing to do. Because being a Vigilante means being ‘judge, jury and executioner’ to those ‘caught breaking the law or what is perceived to be law but weren’t punished by the law or a person with authority.’ So when Tsuna says ‘he’s going back to the Vongola’s roots’ what is understood is ‘I’ll kill those who go against what I say, because that’s going against my ideas for the Vongola and going against me.’ Which amounts to ‘I say how you’re going to behave and you’re going to like it or die.’ Which makes Tsuna terrifyingly radical to the Vongola and its allies and a seeming tyrant who rules by ‘I’ll kill you if I catch you going against me.’ Which is not a good thing to be seen as when you’re Foreign, Young and Inexperienced in Politics/Naive.
As a side note: Giotto would have been Terrifying to the masses and his enemies of the time for all that he eventually Charisma’d his way into Powerful People with Money’s good books. Ricardo is remembered for being terrifying and there’s likely documentation to prove it; Giotto had the equivalent of an excellent PR campaign and a ret-con as something as established as reports would have happened after he had Established his Power Base.)
Ramble aside, Having Flames does not equal Competence. Having Flames means you have Immense Willpower/Resolve. Not that your are Skilled. If you want more evidence of that, Tsuna never learns martial arts; he’s moving by just intuition. So no, he’s not a Skilled Fighter; he just happens to have Plot-Devise Instincts. Gokudera having Five Flames does not make him capable of Healing with Sun Flames or capable of winning against Hibari or realizing that his box-weapon has Flaws in design and usage. Hibari having Mist Flames does not make him capable of seeing through Illusions so he creates work-arounds. Shoichi having Sun Flames does not make him a physical juggernaut or someone with superhuman reflexes like Reborn. Having Rain Flames does not make Squalo or Bluebell a Chill and Laid-back person. Flames do not equal Competence or Ability.
Iemtisu has his areas of competence. He’s very physically strong, capable of Dying Will Mode and Hyper Dying Will Mode as he Taught Basil How To Use. He somehow managed to convince Nana to marry him and stay madly in love with him. He somehow gained the position of CEDEF Boss; either he convinced Nono to put him there or rose on his merits. Considering Iemitsu’s Bloodline and Good Relationship with Nono, it’s probably that he either Volunteered or was Appointed to CEDEF because of Politics. Specifically those concerning Succession.
He is not however a very good leader, manager or politician or a father; in any area when dealing with people outside the frame of ‘enemies he’s allowed to kill’ he’s terrible in how he treats and interacts with people.
In the Curse of the Rainbow Arc, he leaves his subordinates and team to go beat up his son without knocking him out of the competition. Which leaves his team vulnerable to Mukuro and Verde and they all pretty much get knocked out. Bad leadership.
Him being a shitty person: using Basil as a Decoy, using Dino to deliver rings while also hitching a ride with him, how he got children drunk, the sheer disrespect inherent in him passing out drunk in the front room, how he ignored Tsuna’s personal space to give his son the Sky Ring, Lambo getting the Lightning Ring on the gamble of the 10YL Bazooka, having a terrible plan for investigating the Iron Fort resulting in him killing Vongola people, lying to his wife, lying to his son etc. He Uses People and Abuses their trust/faith in him.
His subordinates get onto him about paperwork. Iemitsu falls asleep at his desk. In Japan, it’s a sign of hard work. In Italy, it is saying you are irresponsible by not getting enough sleep. It can also be a sign of Boredom and Inattentiveness. He gets much more animated when Colonello comes in and the Chance to Leave the Office is presented. Does this sound like the sort of person you want running Intelligence and Internal Investigations within the Vongola? The Details Bore Him. People bore him. Those People Are Not Important.
Iemitsu despite being part of the CEDEF has no head for Politics. Because despite having inherited the Vongola Blood-gift of Hyper Intuition he doesn’t figure out Xanxus has kidnapped Nono, because it would be Politically Useful to have him away so that a decoy could play. Instead Iemitsu gets Baited and goes back to Italy, leaving Basil in Japan, his son without his support and then goes and raids the Iron Fort. After escaping and getting shot by the Nono-double. He finds out Mosca-details but there is no way to communicate such to Tsuna and co because Bad Planning has them pinned down under the Iron Fort. He also doesn’t seem to realize how using Dino as Mail-Pony could impact the Alliance between the Cavallone and Vongola; especially after using Basil as a decoy. He Lacks Understanding of Consequences.
To Summerize: Iemitsu doesn’t Get People and Doesn’t Understand Consequences. By behavior the Only People Important to Him is Nono who he serves and doesn’t leave, going out of his way to ‘save’ him when he thought Nono was Imperiled. As consequence he’s Powerful Sky but not inclined to Bond People because they don’t matter and they should matter if they’re going to be his.
In Effect this means Iemitsu isn’t Inverted Sky but Mentally Ill. As it isn’t Obvious Mental Illness with Inability to Function, this is Undiagnosed. Because Iemitsu has always been Iemitsu. And an Idiot.
Izzy and Umei postulate that Sawada Iemitsu suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Because it fits and Iemitsu has a proven Pattern of Behavior Over Years. And yes, because of this he is Incompetent when it comes to dealing with People and Emotions so is Poor at Politics and at Understanding People and Politics beyond a very simplistic view. Where he is Always Right, because he Matters.
Despite this, Izzy believes he’s still probably more competent than Trump; Iemitsu is at least coherently articulate if no less delusional and has good subordinates who aren’t out to set the nation into a fucking disaster and laughingstock.

what if: nana dies?
in some freak accident or maybe even an assassination. planned or unintentional, tsuna is six and iemitsu is...busy with vongola work, so he tosses out a letter addressed to him from namimori that's not from his darling nana, even though it says something along the lines of "condolences, sorry for bringing bad news, but nana has died and your son..." etc etc.
tsuna doesn't have a caretaker and by this point, the seal has been on for around a year and most civilians see him as no-good and don't want to take in a burden, even if he had money iemitsu sends him to care for him. and so tsuna is basically an orphan with nobody to take care of him
except.
the hibari clan in namimori, who work on both sides of the law, and one hibari kyōya's parents hear of sawada tsunayoshi, who, from their son, was perfectly excelling at his work before a break, and then suddenly couldn't grasp material and everyone had turned against him.
and so they take him in, this tiny, terrified, sealed (what the hell was the young lion thinking?!) sky of a boy, and obviously, kyōya is not pleased. but he gets why they have to, how badly his remaining parent has messed up, and grudgingly, he tries to,,, be some sort of rabid protector/older brother/main caretaker (since his parents are out a lot)
and tsuna turns out to be a small animal (and every hibari knows how weak kyōya is for them) and he does his best, but also teaches him how to fight and get over his seal-induced increased clumsiness and suddenly, nobody wants to bother him.
1. it's a sure way to get hibari kyōya after you 2. sawada tsunayoshi is now probably able to beat you up before you can even try
it's a very different scene reborn walks into. (at least he doesn't have to go looking for a cloud/convince one to join tsunayoshi.)
---
10/31/21 edit | this now has a thing of just before tsuna gets to meet the hibari's and may get a second one so

Interesting on how CEDEF is originally more of an actual family with an elite group specialized for intelligence...
Tumblr media
External Advisor (Iemitsu) Usually outsiders, but in times of emergency, they have the same power as the boss. External Advisor Team (Oregano) A small elite unit supervised by Iemitsu. Mainly engaged in espionage activities. Special Operatives (Moretti) A group of intelligence-gathering professionals who work under the orders of the boss and outside advisors.
... To a full-pledged intelligence organization.
Tumblr media
Boss: Iemitsu Sawada Key members: Lal Mirch, Basil, Oregano, Turmeric CEDEF is a secret intelligence organization from Vongola, consisting of more than 800 members. During the transition from Vongola I to II, Vongola I himself organized to disperse the power of the boss (the first outside adviser was Araude, the Guardian of the Clouds). The outside adviser who is the top of CEDEF is said to be "a Vongola and not a Vongola", and although he is an outsider of Vongola in normal times, In times of emergency, he can invoke the second highest authority after the boss, and has half of the authority to decide the boss's successor. Therefore, it can be said that CEDEF is the second Vongola. The current advisor outside the gate is Sawada Iemitsu, Tsuna's father, who was once known as the "young lion". For Tsuna, Sawada Iemitsu is a dull, no-good old man who shouldn't come back to their house.

Do you have any oc in khr?
i had a few! most of them never got past being a one note character, but one did get an actual scene written. It was oc as tsuna’s twin sister. her name was Hifumi, Fumi for short. I also think fu-mi was two and three in old Japanese or something?? her character number would’ve been 23 anyway, like Tsuna’s was 27.
the plot was that, despite Fumi being the older twin and a powerful sky+cloud, Tsuna was still selected to be Decimo. Can’t have a ~girl~ running one of the oldest mafia familias after all. Iemitsu showed his normal A+ parenting by engaging Fumi to Xanus without her knowledge or consent. I think she was going end up collecting arcobaleno for gaurdians???
the title was going to either be‘hell for the company’ or ‘that gun is loaded (but it’s not in my hands)’
I only wrote one scene before inspiration dried up. this was the scene immediately after Iemitsu dropped the whole ‘get married for the Family’ bomb. its in reborns pov.
Hifumi Sawada's face didn't change. "You want me to what?"
The young lion of the vongola squirmed in the face of his daughter's disdain. "He's a very -- passionate young man. He could use a smart girl like you by his side! Papa also thinks he'll be good for you!"
The girl still said nothing. Even her gaze was utterly blank, no sign of her true feelings showing on her face. She slowly took a sip of her tea.
Reborn had to admire her ability to say a thousand things without saying a thing. The silence was flavored with disbelief, a "can you really be that stupid?" coming through loud and clear.
Reborn hated to admit it, but maybe the Ninth wasn't as senile as he seemed. This girl wasn't the sort to be pushed around. Getting her out of the line of succession was going to be key -- She was Tsuna’s biggest obstacle right now, girl or not. She was the eldest, the strongest, the more practical and ruthless one.
Marrying her into the Varia was by far the best option.
Finally, after Iemitsu babbled himself into silence, Fumi moved. She crossed her legs and put down the tea cup, but the gentle click sounded like a gunshot.
Iemitsu mouth closed with an audible snap.
"You want me to marry a stranger. To solve a problem that your boss made for himself. To serve a criminal syndacate that has never once benifited me. To make your life easier," The girl smiled for the first time, a shockingly bright thing that transformed her into a miniature of her mother. "Go fuck yourself."
Iemitsu spluttered. "Princess -- "
"Also, Iemitsu-san, who gave you permission to address me so informally? Who do you think you are -- my father or something?"
Reborn blinked.
The girl pulled no punches.
She sat up straight, spine like an iron rod and she looked down on the two of them like she was a queen and they were merely subjects. "You're shameless. I put up with you because Nana loves you, though I have no idea why. Did you really think that I was going to just... agree? I've spent maybe three hours in your presence in the last three years, and nothing you do has made me respect you. It's clear that you think a bit of sperm makes you family, but let me tell you: you’re not family, much less Famliy."
Reborn pulled down his hat down to cover his eyes. "You're revoking his rights to you?"
"As the eldest of the Sawada family and current head of the household, I'm doing exactly that." She said, still smiling. "Just so you know, that means you're not welcome here anymore. Nana may speak to you as much as you want, but neither Tsunayoshi or I will have anything to do with you."
"You understand that this puts you in danger?" Iemitsu said.
The girl gave him a scornful look. "Who exactly put us in danger in the first place? Don't act like this has nothing to do with you. Will you withdraw your protection now? Is this the loyalty of the Vongola?"
What a brat.
But reborn couldn't say anything because she was right.
The father had a duty to care for his children, no matter what happened. Children had no such obligation. Not only that, but Nana had no idea about the mafia when even the lowliest mistress was brought into the fold -- it was their basic right to know what would happen to any children they had.
By taking that choice away from Nana -- Iemitsu made an enemy of every woman in the mafia. And their husbands by extension.
If it ever got out...
Iemitsu was finished.
Fumi's eyes were the mirror image of Primo, even more so than her younger brother. Iemitsu was a fool. Reborn could have made a masterwork out of this girl if he got to her earlier.
"You know a lot." Reborn said. "You're aware of Omerta?"
The girl smiled again, sunny and vapid. "What do mafia rules have to do with me? I'm just a civilian. Like Iemitsu-san wanted."
Meaning that no one could go after her for loyalty.
It really shouldn’t matter. They were Vongla civilians, expected to hold up Omerta. A mafia daughter would be expected to marry for the sake of an alliance.
Except the Sawadas were never once treated as Vongola civilians. No money was given, no protections were extended except anonymity, not even a yearly check in by Iemitsu or the Ninth guardians -- the bare minimum the other Vongola civilians got.
Nana didn’t even know her husband was mafia.
After failing them so bad, Vongola had no claim on the Sawadas.
Hifumi Sawada could break Omerta as much as she wanted, because she wasn’t mafia. If anyone tried to come after her, the Vongola would still be forced to retaliate -- because they were nominally Vongola civilians, the family of the Young Lion. Iemitsu would be forced to retaliate in defense of his children, no matter how little they had to do with each other.
"If that's everything?" Fumi said. Her tone made it clear that it was, in fact, everything.
Iemitsu stared at her like she was a lioness, dripping blood from her claws. It was fitting, because Reborn would classify his expression as gutted.
"Princess, Daddy didn't --"
What a fucking moron. Reborn summoned a hammer and brought it down on the young lion's head before he could make things any worse. "We'll be taking our leave. Miss Sawada." He tipped his hat.
"Reborn-san." She glanced at the unconscious man on the floor. "Take your trash with you. I don't want it in my house."
Reborn smiled, without mirth. Trash indeed. "I'll do that. May I return?"
Fumi stilled. He could see the thoughts move through her eyes, but none of them showed up on her face. "Why?"
“Your family may not be mafia, but they are still a target,” Reborn said. It was the truth. “You will need training you haven’t had simply because of who your father is.”
The girl gave Iemitsu a disgusted look, but otherwise seemed resigned.
...Maybe there was hope after all. The Vongola needed a legitimate heir and there was strong sky with her own household right there, ripe for the training.
She tapped her finger on the table, obviously thinking. "One condition."
"Oh?"
The girl leaned forward to pick up her tea, then looked up to meet Reborn's eyes. "My brother has nothing to do with the mafia, or the Vongola. Not now. Not ever."
Ah. She really would make a good boss. Family and family were different things, but she was willing to humor the  Vongola so long as her family was left alone.
"I understand." Reborn tipped his hat to Hifumi and left, dragging the unconscious man behind him.
He and the ninth had a few things to talk about.

Nana lets it go, after all, she knows Sawada Iemitsu, the Young Lion of the Vongola doesn't know whose daughter she is.
There are a lot of things she knows, that she knows Iemitsu won't like, but the day he bucks up and buckles down and tells her, well. A woman's got to have her secrets, ne?

Deep breathes, amber eyes, and orange flames. Tsuna stood powerful and victorious, with his foot pressing against Iemitsu’s chest. The man laid on the floor, defeated and defenseless, the Young Lion of Vongola brought to his knees by his own son.
“I just have one question.” Tsuna’s voice boomed in the silence that surrounded them. He cared nothing for the people watching them, paying them no mind as he looked directly into his father’s eyes. “Why did you let him do it?”
“Tsuna-”
“Why did you let him seal my Flames?” there was a slight quiver on his words, one Tsuna forced himself to swallow. “Were you scared? Scared of what I could become? Of how easily I could surpass you?” in his eyes flashed something like mockery, but it was gone as fast as it appeared.
“Do not speak to me like that. I am your father, you owe me some-” Tsuna’s boot crushed Iemitsu’s chest a bit more, sending the man in a small fit of coughing.
“Respect?” Tsuna let out a broken laugh the hate swirling in his amber eyes. “You lost that when you allowed my Active Flames to be sealed. Did you know, that when you seal a Sky, you seal their soul too?” Tsuna released the man he had once called ‘Dad’, crouching to get to his level. Iemitsu looked away. Of course he knew, everyone in the Mafia knew. “For years, all I could feel was the cold. Clinging to my bones, tightening around my throat, freezing my brain. I know you knew it would happen, I’m not stupid. So I’m going to ask again. Why did you let him do it?”
There was a beat of silence, when no one said anything, and even the breeze seemed to stop. Reborn, looking from the sidelines, tipped his fedora so it would shadow his eyes, and Lal Mirch tightened her jaw as she waited for her boss’ answer. Tsuna’s Guardians, all watching carefully for any signs of their Sky being in danger, held their breath.
“I didn’t want you to be like me.”
Tsuna’s laugh was hoarse, and the tears welled behind those eyes full of hatred and resentment.
“You created a monster anyways, when you sent the World’s Greatest Hitman to train your son.”

Khr/Avatar AU
Plot bunny that just appeared in my head.
The previous Vongola bosses are the nine previous incarnations of the Avatar
Tsuna is the latest reincarnation of the Avatar, being a Fire Nation commoner
This is important, as the current Fire Nation prince (Xanxas) was the person expected to inherit the role
Obviously, this is bad for Tsuna, who is taken away by the Airbending prodigy of the White Lotus, “Reborn” (current name unknown)
(The Acrobaleno are the current version of the White Lotus)
They visit the WL base in the Western Air Temple to regroup, where Tsuna befriends a young Airbender girl named Nagi
Once they leave the base, Tsuna is attacked by a hired assassin (Hayato), who is quickly defeated and joins the party
Then, they visit the Northern Water Tribe, and meet the Waterbending swordsmen, recruiting the young Takeshi into their ranks
Them the second assassin, an eight year old with the power to Lightning-bend, attacks. Feeling the situation to be absurdly messed up, Tsuna adopts the little cow boy.
Tsuna then finds a flame lion, names it Natsu, and has him join the boyband as his Avatar companion
Other less fleshed out notes:
Ryohei is an Earthbender, specializing in a “boxing style”
Kyoya is a non bender, like Hayato, but is still highly competent
Mukuro is an evil/dark spirit that possesses Nagi, turning her into Chrome
Iemitsu is a member of the Fire Nation Army, but doubles as a spy for the White Lotus. He’s still awful.
Fire Noble Dino takes a shining to the young Avatar, and helps him with his firebending
The Shimon is also there, but I don’t have a solid grasp on them yet

For the Alphonso AU I think it's interesting that it hasn't been mentioned that someone put a hit out on Nana. That means there were people that KNEW that Iemitsu had a wife and child and that one of those people wasn't nice to innocents.
I know. Isn't it sad?
The thing is that Reborn doesn't care much about the particulars as long as his family is safe. He's a Badass but he's still very much a Hitman. As far as the lower ranking mafia knows "Renato" disappeared and "Reborn" is the new greatest Hitman and has a child. What would Alphonso have to do with the Young Lion's murdered family? Nothing.
To the higher ranks, except now Vongola, Renato got somebody pregnant and changed his name and identity to protect his child. When Alphonso was a baby, Renato pretty much disappeared from the mafia scene. He came back as Reborn much later. So, Reborn doesn't think that the former client is a threat to his son.
Timoteo has reached the same conclusion and therefore doesn't care much about the particulars. In the long run, Nana's death means nothing to him. Especially since Iemitsu hid his family so it doesn't even affect Vongola's reputation.
Iemitsu, of course, is the one that cares about Nana being murdered. It's one of the sticking points against Reborn. Iemitsu wants the info and Reborn will not involve himself with Iemitsu's drama because it risks exposing Alphonso. Besides, Iemitsu has fixated on Alphonso and Reborn doesn't appreciate it.
Sorry for the somewhat long answer! I honestly didn't know how to add this more in the story hahaha

What if Sawada Nana had died in accident?
Iemitsu had at least half brain because only people who know surname of his family are him, Nono and Nono's guardians
It seemed like car accident, driver lost control over vehicle and hit her
but who knows if it really was accident...
definitely not Iemitsu since authorities couldn't get hold on that man to tell him about his wife’s death and need for someone to take care of his son
but luckily they find Nana's distant family…
...Verde
he's not sure why he agreed to take Tsuna in
but he needed assistant and one with sky flames would be useful
he's rather good dad
thanks to him Tsuna have received best education on every subject
but he can't really fight, he have excellent control over his flames but physically he's rather weak
but he's great with poisons(Verde said something about his mother lineage but Tsuna doesn't know)
probably has his guardians because Verde wanted to study guardian bond(maybe Mukuro was first then Gokudera and then Verde knew how to find rest)
They certainly did not expect Reborn to crash into laboratory one day and say that Tsuna will be Vongola Decimo
"Why is Vongola demanding their heir now?" "Because Iemitsu recently discovered that his wife is dead and son is missing"
...Bermuda von Veckenschtein
no one knows how
but Vindice are very rational; when life gives you a child...
...you train them into best mafia prison guard ever
maybe when Mukuro was locked there for the first time: "Uncle Bermuda! He's my mist! Can I have him, plase?"(He still need to learn how to say no to puppy eyes)
Tsuna is trained in using both Night and Sky flames
maybe Vongola(which is currently looking for Young Lion's son) sees him catching some mafia criminal
...Byakuran's mother
she decided that Byakuran needed friend his age
boys quickly started liking each other and become close as sibling
Tsuna growing up sometimes felt sad about his inability to bond to anyone
when Byakuran for the first time saw Parallel Worlds his thoughts weren't about which Byakuran he is or to conquer the World - it was "Holy cow I know who are Tsuna's guardians and where to find them!"
he easily mutes all worlds where he and Tsuna are enemies or lovers because they are siblings
so soon they go on a journey to find all Tsuna's guardians!(maybe his too)
his parents are really laid back "your tutor said you are ahead with material so of course you can go on vacation"
when they come back they see don Vongola talking with Byakuran's parents about Tsuna becoming next Vongola boss(?!)
"Byakuran why you didn't warn me!" "I wanted to see your face Tsuna-kun"
...Kawahira
he wanted to make sure little sky gets good home because he has potential to become next sky arcobaleno
he did not expected this kid to break curse at age of ten
Checkerface no longer needed Tsuna so he left him with arcobaleno
they were grateful so Aria decided to take care of kid(she was best choice)
but they all sometimes visit to teach him thing or two
when Lal, Reborn and Mammon are called to help locate Iemitsu's son and are shown some baby pictures there is silence for few minutes
"Did something happen?" "I think he's person who broke our curse"
...Mammon
they still don't know why they agreed to take kid
they were running on 80+ hours of no sleep
... or were drunk
... maybe both
either way they brought kid to Varia headquarters on officer's floor
he quickly won their hearts over(fact that he somehow proved that their cloud was spy for enemy Famiglia had nothing to do with that)
the way in which he didn't care he was adopted made Xanxus not lash out when he found out that he was adopted and instead confront his father about it
when two years later Nono and Iemitsu arrived to Varia Hq to order them to find Sawada Tsunayoshi they received some surprised looks from officers and then Xanxus made a call
"Brat get over to my office"
Iemitsu cried and tried to hug his Tuna-fishie
only to be dodged and kicked(Varia officers were very proud for this instincts they managed to teach him)
Iemitsu wants to take his son with himself but Varia is like 'HELL NO'
and Timoteo is on their side seeing Iemitsu is to Tsuna complete stranger(also Xanxus calmed down in past two years and he had sinking feeling Xanxus would react much more violently when he found out about being adopted)
sealing also wasn't an option any longer
...Giotto
when Tsuna was born his flames were strong enough to summon Primo and his guardians and keep them close to him
they really loved this boy
so when Nana's death made Tsuna erupt in flames so strong they could hurt him they started absorbing them to help Tsuna
they didn't expect to gain corporeal bodies
Deamon using mist flames made some necessary documents and boom Tsuna was officially adopted by Giotto
with them he would be safer than with his father
besides rising one child in seven couldn't be this hard
Sorry for mistakes!(English isn’t my first language)
If you liked it feel free to use it - just let me know.

This started as a joke, but Dragon!Skies 😅
(Ideas of March Prompt Fill 9/15)
It was impossible to hide a Sky when they manifested, given the way they were immediately encased in an indestructible crystalline eggshell that glittered and shone with a thousand shades of the Rainbow. There was some debate, in the Alliance, over which Sky had cracked their shell at the youngest age. Xanxus di Vongola had already manifested and learned how to control his Flames when he was taken in off the streets at eight. Still, some of the Giglio Nero Donna’s had Manifested that young too. Reborn glared at the pathetic excuse for a personality profile Bakamitsu had dropped into his hands and wondered what the gossips would say if they learned the Young Lion’s spawn had cracked his shell at four.
/…/
Reborn had not quite known what to expect when he arrived in Namimori to teach Sawada Tsunayoshi the laws and customs of his father’s culture so that the boy could take his place as the Vongola Heir. The CEDEF report had listed Tsuna as easily distracted, high-strung, shy, and constantly anxious. Whatever Reborn had thought to expect, it was nothing like this.
A young Misty Cloud was snarling at him, with a smallish army of lesser Flames following his lead. The Sky Reborn had come here to teach was all-but smothered in the arms of two girls, a Sunny Mist and a Misty Lightning respectively. Just in front of the huddle a Misty Rain bounced a sword against his shoulder, smiling like a natural hitman, and a Misty Sun cracked his wrapped knuckles with a shining grin, both with hints of Lightning crackling through them. Behind the main cluster a Stormy Cloud stood with her feet planted and arms crossed, scowl firmly on her face. She was the only one bound directly to the Sky without a hint of Mist in her.
This was bad. Reborn was no good with unanchored Mist-magnets. Although he was going to look into what had made his new student so determined to hide from reality, that would have to wait. Right now Reborn needed a way to get his new student to focus without drifting back into the Dreaming a Sky with too many Mists was prone to.
What to do?
Hm. Perhaps Reborn should try going the traditional route. The Japanese liked tradition, right?
Now, who did Reborn know that would be a shiny enough distraction for a Sky of Tsuna’s potential strength?
… Ah. Yes, that would do nicely.
/…/
At first Reborn had debated dropping the bait in front of Tsuna in class, but as hilarious as that might have been at another time, nothing Tsuna had done so far was in any way predictable. As much as Reborn was enjoying both the chaos that followed his new student and the challenge of figuring out Namimori’s secrets, Reborn would never risk actually breaking Omertà.
So Reborn decided to do some creative editing with his first idea and rewrote the scene he had initially had in mind for maximum effect.
/…/
At first Tsuna had no idea what to make of his new home tutor. Reborn was tiny as an infant but was actually older than Tsuna’s parents and the first thing Reborn had tried to do was shoot him in the head and if Kyouya-sempai had been even a little bit slower…
Reborn insisted that the bullets would not have killed him, but Tsuna really, really did not want to be shot even non-fatally by someone who was visibly plotting messy murder every time Tsuna’s dad came up in the conversation. Sure, Reborn was better about treating Tsuna fairly now that they had gotten to know each other a bit better, but Tsuna still could not shake the feeling that if Tsuna had been a disappointing student Reborn would have taken his dislike for Iemitsu out of Tsuna’s hide. What was strange, and also worrisome, to consider was that Reborn was apparently here as a favour for Tsuna’s father. Why Reborn was doing favours for a man he visibly and verbally disdained was a question Tsuna was not certain he wanted answered.
If Tsuna got too nosy then Reborn might stop being polite about Tsuna’s secrets, and Tsuna’s secrets were not just about him. So Tsuna was content to let the unspoken truce hold.
“Let’s go, Tsuna.” Reborn toddled cheerfully towards the park, and Tsuna felt a sudden chill when he realized that all of his treasures were nowhere nearby. “We have a meeting.”
“Wait, Reborn!” Someone only less than two feet tall should not be capable of dragging four times their bodyweight down the street. This was unfair. Tsuna squeaked as he tripped and scrambled to stay upright. “What meeting?”
“A personal meeting.” Dark eyes gleamed from under the shade of his fedora, and Reborn smirked before letting Tsuna go. “Watch and learn something, Dame-Tsuna.”
/…/
There was a slim figure lounging in the shade of a sakura tree, dapples of light catching on silver chains and coloured stones. “Reborn.”
“Smoking Bomb.” Reborn hopped down off Tsuna’s shoulder to approach the younger hitman. Normally Reborn liked to work his students into a frenzy first to teach them how to think through their initial instinct to panic, but Tsuna was the type to need plain statements. So while the idea all but gave Reborn hives, he was going to show his silly student that someone Tsuna’s own age could earn and keep respect in their world before he started training Tsuna to fight. “You made good time.”
“You made me an offer worthy of a little extra effort.” Stepping out into the light, the explosive expert’s narrowed green eyes raked over Tsuna with clear interest. “A new student?”
“You see now why I asked for speed.” Reborn hid his triumph as the bomber hummed absently and handed over the information Reborn had asked him to gather. Pulling the strings to get Shamal’s protege to come to Namimori personally had been worth it, especially since Reborn had taken the calculated risk of not mentioning he was tutoring a Sky. Smoking Bomb was clearly interested in Tsuna despite managing to stay professional. That was almost secondary to the report the younger hitman had put together on the state of the Alliance and and a bluntly analytical profile on Sawada Iemitsu. This was the kind of report Reborn had been expecting from the CEDEF. “Hm. You do good work, Smoking Bomb. The money will be in your account by tonight, and I will ask my daughter if she would like to meet with your sister.”
“It’s appreciated, Reborn.” Business concluded, there was no reason to linger and every reason to leave, but the silver haired teen hesitated, just as Reborn had expected. The silence stretched just a bit to long as Smoking Bomb stared at Reborn’s student with intent eyes. Finally, the younger hitman shook his head. “Name’s Gokudera Hayato, called the Smoking Bomb. I work freelance, so if you need a job done Reborn can put you in touch with me. Ciao.”
Inclining his head in a quick acknowledgement, the silver haired teen moved to depart before he embarrassed himself. Reborn saw the regret sear itself across Tsuna’s face and took the shot.
Bang!
Gokudera whirled around, face slack with horror as the Sky crumpled.
One knee on the ground, Tsuna’s hand closed around the bomber’s wrist. Gokudera froze in place, arms still out to catch the other boy.
Reborn peered up at his student in confusion. Tsuna had been oddly quiet since the first time Gokudera had spoken, and now that he had finally managed to hit Tsuna with the special bullet Reborn had been expecting more in the way of ardent declarations. There were no Flames, and Tsuna’s clothes had remained intact. Instead of Hyper Dying Will mode, Tsuna was giving off the impression of a sealed pot set to boil, building pressure that was about to…
BOOM!!
… explode. On his back in the bushes several meters from where he had been standing, Reborn blinked rapidly as his ears rang in the aftermath of Tsuna going up like a small atom bomb made of Flames. Ow.
/…/
Mine.
Rusted chains falling away, too-small cage finally broken open.
Mine.
Free for the first time since his father and the old man had tried to damp his inner fire.
Mine.
His heart beating all out of rhythm as he scrambled to catch the fragile treasure fallen into his grasp without causing damage. Something precious and unique, old hurts gleaming silver and gold where the scars had healed over.
“Mine.” Tsuna curled in on himself, wanting to gather his new treasure close but terrified of sending shattered pieces scattering into dust. “Please?”
Sprawled out in the gentle cradle of Tsuna’s paws, Gokudera was a crimson opal, fractals of violet-blue-green-gold flaring in brilliant colour against the amber of Tsuna’s claws. “… Eh?”
“Please?” A whine was building in Tsuna’s throat. How was he supposed to ask? His other treasures had always been his. They had helped Tsuna chip away at the fetters his father had laid on Tsuna’s inner fire. They had been there to help despite Tsuna being crippled and weak. He was supposed to defend his hoard, but they defended Tsuna too. Tsuna had the best hoard, and he had never before considered wanting more but… “Mine.”
“… my Sky is a UMA?” Pale, scarred fingers pressing against Tsuna’s muzzle, patting gently like his pretty treasure thought Tsuna might reject the touch. The silver haired teen was mumbling in strange tongues even as he relaxed into the Harmony Tsuna offered, touch growing more sure as Tsuna pulled Gokudera closer.
Rumbling happily, Tsuna coiled up around the newest member of his hoard and simply basked smugly in his triumph. Tsuna had the best hoard. He bet nobody else had a treasure with five colours. Ha!
/…/
Up a nearby tree and not planning to climb down any time soon, Reborn stared in utter shock as the giant supernatural lizard that was supposed to be his student cuddled the Hurricane of Flames most of the gossip painted as too complicated to ever properly bond. Well, Tsuna was happily proving them wrong, even if he did currently look like something that belonged in an illuminated book of fairy tales.
Sure, Skies hatched from eggs when they woke their Flames and they were jealous of their Guardian’s attention and tended to collect large amounts of wealth, but… yeah. Never mind, Reborn was not even convincing himself that this was impossible.
What the hell had caused the transformation though? Reborn had shot other Skies with the special bullets, and none of them had physically transformed into dragons. What was different about Tsuna? What the fuck else had Bakamitsu left out of his report?
/…/
Half a world away, an old man ruled his Family with a kind smile and an iron Will. He hoped Reborn took to young Tsunayoshi. While it was regrettable that he had needed to Seal the child back then, at the time it had been for the greater good of the Family. A Sky that pure and that strong would have attracted too much attention and destabilized the succession. The situation with Xanxus had been bad enough, and he as still dealing with the fallout from the public backlash of claiming the boy even years later.
Still, Reborn would be able to teach Tsunayoshi enough to get by as the new Heir despite the Seal. It was a moot point anyway. Hyper Dying Will mode would break the Seal on Tsunayoshi’s Flames, and Reborn would be able to claim the credit for the boy’s eventual strength.
After all, the only ones who knew Tsunayoshi had woken his Flames once before were Iemitsu and himself, and Iemitsu knew better than to spread that information around. Sealed or latent, who would be able to tell after Tsunayoshi was Active without knowing that little fact? It would all work out for the better this way.
/…/
Under the Iron Fort, a glacier strung with chains sat in the centre of the darkened catacombs. The ice shuddered, cracked.
Shattered.
Ice vanished into steam as a nightmare of blood-amber scales unfurled massive wings with a scream of enraged triumph.
=/=
So it turns out that sealing an Active Sky equals dragons when the seal goes away! The More You Know.
Welcome to the Godzilla Threshold, Timoteo. *blows kisses*

Creeping Flames
Summary: There was always something….off about Nana Kuromori. It was nothing she did specifically just a weird creepy feeling about her. Is it little wonder her son is the exact same way and seem to just natural scare people off without doing anything? Not like Tsuna care though. Who need normal human friends when he can just play with Grandpa Slendy’s Creeps?
(Or the one where Nana is the half human daughter of Slenderman and Tsuna have some interesting friends and family that make the Mafia seem like Saints).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 2: He is a LIAR!
Luciano Vincenti was a mid level Freelance Hitman. He was good at his job if he said so himself. In and out like a ghost only leaving his target bodies behind. So why was he here in nowhere Japan just to kill a civilian brat? True the brat in question is Vongola’s Young Lion only child but it was still insulting in Vincenti opinion to be hired for such an easy kill.
Vincenti crept into the window of what his information said to be the brat room only to sneered in disgust. The brat wasn’t even a year old! A simple pillow to the face would be more than enough to kill the brat. Feeling more insulted than before Vincenti walked closer to the crib where a fluffy caramel brown haired baby slept but before he could touch the child something grabbed HIM! Before he can even screamed in shock everything faded to black. The last thing he saw was the now awake brat glowing sunset orange eyes.
                                         ***********************
Vincenti came to in a dimly lit basement tied to a chair and gagged. His head was screaming murder at him and he could feel blood sluggishly pouring from a cut on his head where it had hit that damn orange eyed brat crib.
“It seems the pest caught in Tsuna’s room is awake now my child.”, a male deep clear with an undertone of static(?) voice spoke. Something about that voice sent the hair on the back of Vincenti neck to stand up.
“Thank you daddy. Did you mind taking Tsu-kun with you to your place? I don’t want him waking up due to the pest again.”, said a female voice that sounded happy and amuse but there was barely hidden anger in that voice. That voice….that voice made every cell in his body scream Danger! Predator! Killer! Run! Hide!
“ I don’t mind spending time with my grandson and I’m sure the others wouldn’t mind either. Beside Jeffery have been disobedient lately so setting him on babysitting duty should be an appropriate punishment.”, assured the first.
Vincenti saw movement from the corner of his left eye. What he saw when he focused on the figure terrified him so much he screamed through the gag loudly. It was an abnormally tall thin male humanoid figure. It was dress in a black suit with a white shirt and red tie. It had no hair, it skin was pure white, and it face…it had NO FACE!
“Good thing Jeff is Tsu-kun favorite babysitter if only because he the one usually stuck babysitting him!~ Mu I’m starting to think Jeff only misbehave so he can babysit Tsu-kun!~”, giggled a inhumanly beautiful caramel haired woman.
“Hmm perhaps you are right”, acknowledged the creature, “In any case it seems Tsunayoshi and I must bid you goodbye my child. Have fun with the pest.”
With a dark chuckle the woman responded, “Oh I WILL daddy bye now and have fun with Tsu-kun!~” The creature and the woman hugged each other before the creature disappeared in a blink of an eye leaving no clue it was even there.
“Now that my little Tsu-kun is out of the house I don’t have to worry about you waking him up anymore so we can have a nice long discussion on why you were in my BABY’S room.”, growled the woman.
“Now how will I get you to talk is the question. I can’t cut out your tongue because then you can’t talk. Same for cutting you open and taking your heart or brain although E.J would like a free meal of your kidneys so I can do that later after all no matter what you won’t live anyway. Hmm decisions decisions. Oh! I know what I can do to get you to talk and best of all I don’t need to take off the gag and you won’t be able to lie to me at all!~”, cooed the woman as, to his horror, her hair began to grow and move like tentacles!
He whimpered as one of her tentacle hair grabbed his face and forced him to look deep into her evilevilevilevil caramel eyes. “Don’t worry this is only going to hurt a lot!~”, she purred as suddenly his mind exploded in pain. Vincenti screamed like a pig in a slaughterhouse through his gag as the woman torn his mind apart looking for the answers she seeked. Bringing forth and discarding memories faster than his human mind could comprehend. Luciano Vincenti last sane thought before his mind shattered beyond repair for even a Mist to fix was ‘What sort of nightmare have I angered?’
                                          ***********************
Nana looked down at the now vegetable man twitching in the chair with an angry expression. As she thought of what she had learned in the pest mind her tentacles like hair moved to unbound the comatose man only to bound him again to a butcher slab against the wall where many bloody tools hang. The tentacle-hair began to work on cutting up the brain dead but still alive man and placing the pieces into a large wheeled cooler as it owner pace and ranted angrily at Iemitsu’s lies towards her and how he would pay.
The tentacle-hair now finished with it task of cutting up all the desired pieces of Vincenti body began turning on the furnace to burn the clothes and what remain on the body. Before the tentacle-hair threw in a body part Nana snapped out. “Oh don’t throw in the bones! I wanted to make some bone soup for the others so just scrape off as much meat as you can from it and throw those in.”, ordered Nana as the tentacle-hair gave a motion equivalent to rolling it eyes before going back to the slab to do as it was told.
“Don’t you backtalk me young lady! I’ll get a horrible hair job if you do! Maybe a bowl cut in the color of Neon Orange and Hot Pink spots?”, threatened Nana with a smile as the tentacle-hair stiffen and turn to look at her as though saying ‘You wouldn’t dare!’ Nana smirk widen, “Try me and we’ll see but if you behave I’m sure we can splurge a bit and get that very expensive and very nice looking brush you’ve been wanting. You know the one that leave you shiny and bouncy and untangle ALL your knots very gently.” At this the blood soaked tentacle-hair happily wagged like an overexcited puppy as it ‘hugged’ Nana and gave bloody kisses to her face. Nana laughed at her tentacle-hair antics, “Now I’ll only get it if you behave and do as I ask okay so go finish your job and after we pick up Tsuna we can go buy it got it?” The tentacle-hair happily nodded and went back to work with a bounce in it movement.
Thanks to the promise of a new brush the tentacle-hair finished it work much more faster. Nana with the tentacle-hair help wash off all the blood that remained in the basement and themselves before grabbing the cooler filled with the remains and in a blink of an eye she disappeared from her home in Namimori.
                                         ***********************
Nana appeared in front of an old decrepit looking mansion surrounded by skeletal trees or tall towering pine trees with a thick creeping fog all around. Nana breath in the crisp air closing her eyes in bliss at the peaceful surrounding before she was tackled to the ground. Nana looked to see her ‘attacker’ was a young bleeding girl with curly chocolate brown eyes and emerald green eyes in pink pajamas holding a teddy bear.
“Nana you’re here! I missed you so so so so much! Are you staying long? Are you staying for dinner? Are you going to make it? Can we bake cookies for dessert? Are you staying the night? Is Tsuna?”, babbled the girl.
“I miss you to Sally!~ Yes I’m staying the night with Tsu-kun so yes I’ll be making dinner and of course we can bake cookies!~”, laughed Nana.
“Yay! Best day ever! I got to go tell L.J! I’m sure he’ll love to help us make cookies!”, Sally squealed as she ran into the direction of Laughing Jack’s ‘play area’.
With a chuckle Nana got off the ground and went inside the mansion. She passed by the living room where Ben and Jeff were in an intense Mario Kart race with Tsuna on the ground prompt up by a sleeping Smiley gnawing on a teething ring Jason had made for him. Unable to resist the adorable sight in her opinion she took out her cell a snapped a few picture. Even better?Jeff had accused Ben of cheating after he had won for the fifth time in the row and had pull out his knife so he can try to stab the other in the gut. It was just too cute in Nana’s eyes. Thanks goodness for Smiley who had woke up when the two started yelling and had grabbed Tsuna by the scruff of his ‘Chunky thighs and spooky vibes’ onesie and moved them to the other side of the room to avoid being caught up in the two idiots fighting.
Nana continued on to the kitchen where she put all the items in her cooler away in their place and got started on making that bone soup as well as other options for those who had less...peculiar tastes. With that done and leaving the meals alone to simmer Nana headed towards her father’s office. They needed to have a little chat about her husband lies and what they should do about them. One thing was for sure. Iemitsu better watch his back from now on because if he did anything to harm Tsuna he will be a dead man walking. At the same time in Italy Iemitsu had the sudden feeling that it would be good idea to avoid visiting Namimori for the next few years...or decades.
what if tsuna meets haru earlier?
at about 4 years old, he’s still shy and hasn’t been able to make any friends, and nana kind of, maybe, left him at a park near where the miura’s lived.
now, haru’s also around 4, but still has that easily obsessed and easily misunderstanding situations mindset and so just isn’t very well-liked because she’s strange and weird. enter tsuna, who sees some six-year-olds bullying a smaller, dark-brown-haired girl who’s trying n to cry.
he’s obviously terrified, but he’s still tsuna, and this version has yet to know the betrayal of having his flames sealed, has yet to face bullying for reasons he just can’t understand. so he stops them. maybe with his intuition (he probably was born with it, looking so much like giotto even with his blood) and they become friends.
and haru, who has been made fun of by crueler and older kids, latches onto tsuna, who’s a kind sky and just a good person. her dormant lightning flames stir just a bit from being near, and as they grow older and closer, they become latent and only need a small push to become active.
and, coincidentally, because tsuna makes that one close friend, because iemitsu never calls before visiting (or like a day before where nana rushes to make food and get out the alcohol and make sure curious little tsuna doesn’t touch it), tsuna is very conveniently away for a week-long sleepover at the miura household that week, following along with haru’s newfound obsession and skill with sewing.
they do meet, of course, for a small dinner, but the miura’s are there and haru scares away the dog that would have launched tsuna straight into being active, so timoteo never has a chance to seal him.
their visit ends uneventfully, iemitsu mostly drunk and wailing that his “tuna-fish doesn’t love him” and the vongola nono assuring himself iemitsu’s little civilian family is safe and his son is even smarter than average kids (in the civilian sense)
haru grows to be tsuna’s backbone, saying “no” for him when the others at their prestigious school wants him to “tutor” them but the same cruelty she’s oh so familiar with in their eyes. but tsuna can say no here, because he was never put down and some people are idiots who just can’t get haru.
when reborn gets there, well. he learns that, yes, technically, the son of the young lion of vongola is a civilian with a civilian friend, they’re both so close to being active it’s not even funny. actually, the boy is active, with the bare minimum amount of control to make it seem like he’s not.
(he tested this by shooting a dying will bullet at his strange friend, for insisting that he’s precious and should be protected, when the boy’s forehead burst into flames and pushed her out of the way.)
at least he won’t be bored. (or be forced to use that lightning bovino brat that keeps following him somehow) how to find other elements that will mesh well with that kind of lightning, though…
