Getting all my unexplored character interactions met in Phanpara. And all my suffix needs too.

Nobara really likes Miwa ("Miwa-chan!") and Miwa thinks Nobara might be easier to get along with then her fellow strong headed Kyoto peers... until she sees Nobara interacting with Megumi and Yuji anyway.

Nobara is the one who finds and identifies some fruits in the mountain to snack on with their tea, hinting at her country upbringing.

Nanami calls Panda, "Panda-kun." :,) I think he and Yuta are the only ones who do that.

Mai secretly became a Takada-chan fan after all. 😂

Maki is a fairly kind and gentle person actually. She's just awkward and speaks harshly. Good with kids.

On the same note, Noritoshi is straightforward and serious, but he's a really nice guy. His interactions with Inumaki give me life. He just takes everything Inumaki says so directly.

When Nobara speaks rudely to Mai, Mai replies with, "Watch the way you speak. I'm your senpai." Which— 😂 Mai learned from Utahime I see, and NOBARA REALLY IS THE GOJO OF HER GENERATION. (That's what I've been sayin'.)

Opposite that, Yuji really is such a good boy. 🥺 He calls all the upperclassmen senpai; "Kamo-senpai," "Nishimiya-senpai," "Mai-senpai," etc. Uh, Todo is Todo tho. Lol.

Megumi still calls Mai, "Zen'in-senpai."

In the "Dead Mall" story, I get the general vibe the Tokyo kids are more indulgent and fond of Ijichi than the Kyoto kids. Which makes sense. (They're also probably used to seeing Gojo bully him around, so. Lol.)

In the same "Dead Mall" arc, Inumaki and Panda both mess around Maki and Mechamaru respectively. Reminds me of that one s1 Juju Stroll where they wore the girls' clothes. 😆 You can see they share the same sense of humor.

Maki calls Nanami, "Nanami-san."

Yuji gets his Big Hero Moment in Phanpara, at least. :,)

I like this shot of Azul and Leona’s gazes lining up; it really helps give you the sense of two rivals sizing each other up.

(Side note: you can also tell how much painstaking detail the artists went through to include their eye makeup in these close-ups. Hats off to them for the extra effort, it looks great!)

AYO they always make Leona casting King’s Roar look so darn cool in the manga 😭

My favorite panel in this sequence has to be the one with the text bubbles. He looks so nonchalant and a little stern as he speaks the chant… The shadows on his face add a lot to the atmosphere of it!

This chapter is the part where Leona gets to sanding Azul’s hard work away! Look at how beautifully drawn Azul’s reaction is ✨

The particle-y effect of the contracts melting into sand is nice 😌 It feeds Azul’s tears… Tasty meal…

The anguish Azul’s experiencing is really coming through. He’s sweating so much and his entire face is so. Er… for lack of a better term, twisted.

I think seeing the blot leaking out from each of them helps to illustrate that they’re truly being overwhelmed and consumed by their own inner darkness. It’s sad to see 😔

We cut back to Yuuta and co. squaring off against the twins!

I wanted to point out and comment on these parts with Jack. He’s not a character that I usually pay much attention to, but I gotta commend him for fighting back so hard and trying to shield the picture even when he’s clearly got no chance of winning. Jack bearing his fangs at Floyd with pupils contracted… 🫶 Very good and loyal pupper! I get the Jack appeal now, lol

It reminds me of the similar Azul-Leona framing earlier in the chapter, though with a different context. I like that this shows how the twins are in sync and coming to the same terrible conclusion.

Not long after, they rush to Azul’s side—which makes me think that these two worry for his wellbeing 😭 THEY DONmT SAY IT OUT LOUD BUT THEY CARE

Hello! There's one line I've been really wondering about and it's Zoro's line from Whiskey Peak, in Chapter 107, when he appears amongst the Baroque Works agents. In the anime dub, they completely cut the line and the subs say he says All right then, shall we?

Because I really want to know what the line should be I read the chapter, and the official translation reads:

I was wondering what the line is in the original Japanese manga?

yeah! the line here is オシ、戦るか/oshi, yaruka?

oshi here is an abbreviation of yoshi, an already casual way to say 'okay/alright.' and then yaru is a likewise casual way of saying 'to do' but with a sort of casual/brusque/blunt connotation (for example, it can be used to refer to violence or sex depending on the context).

in this case, the kanji for 'fight' (戦) is used to make the meaning clear; normally you'd just write yaru as やる. and then the ka makes it a question. so in terms of the direct translation of the words used its like 'right, shall we?' but since the kanji for fight is used, some version of 'okay, do you wanna fight?' would also be accurate.

pandora hearts print for anime north this weekend 🥀🖤🤍

For this drawing, I really wanted to emphasize the gothic and chaotic, convoluted nature of the series. Pandora Hearts has become a lot of things to me, as someone who's read it since I was like, 14 years old. but I eventually found the perfect words to sum up the series - a cross between a Shakespearean tragedy and a Grimm fairy tale.

The ink brush + watercolour brushes I used turned out so well together!! I wanted the style to be kind of a nod to like the manga cover art you'd see from the late 90s to 2000s, kind of like Mochizuki's early approach to traditional art.

A lighter approach to both the lineart + coloring also helped me not strain my arm too much - besides work, I stopped doing full illustrations due to the amount of work being heavy on my arm/shoulder T__T. my last full illustrations were the TGAA/DGS zine + WHA zine pieces back in Dec-Jan, but my heart really lies in illustrations more than anything and I definitely want to get back into it!! (as long as my physical health allows it!!)

anyways, above is the thumbnail/inspiration board for this drawing! I also did some quick chickenscratch studies of others' drawings to help me get a sense of their composition. I started on the top left and then made a sort of meandering curve through... definitely went through a lot of ideas for this one. If I explained the intended symbolism.. I would be here.. all day..............

the candles were definitely first inspired by an animation of a lighter I did during art skool... and then I did this AA Dahlia animated illust... and then this OC charm (below) I did in 2022...? maybe I should draw fire more often. it's like, the way that fire looks in animated keyframes that I really like drawing out, and I guess I kinda really enjoyed translating that into a non moving visual medium??

This drawing simultaneously took SO long but I also sped through it?? I had to like... not dwell too long on certain parts... like for example I think some individual character compositions really could be a lot stronger... because I knew this would be a beast of a drawing, I didn't want to spend an unnecessary amount of time focusing on details when I should be looking at the big picture. and I know that's a bad habit of mine!! I'm trying to unlearn my perfectionism!!

💭 summary: it had never dawned on you that the great king of the court, tooru oikawa, would ever have a crush on you: a mere background character in the greater scheme of things. if only you knew just how much he adored you–maybe then you'd realize you're more than a side character in the plot of your (and his) life.

the concept of being in a relationship was foreign to you. you had never really had a proper relationship with anybody in regards to romance; it was like all and every thought of romance was something you never truly experienced, if you didn't count otome games and dating sims that you always pored over, spent all your time playing and devoting your allowances to new costumes and dialogues from your favorite love interests that made you feel pretty, wanted, and loved.

you never really stood out to anybody, that much you believed was true. you found it hard to see anybody liking you, who avidly wore anime shirts and collected expensive figurines and hung up posters of your favorite game series, cartoons, animes, movies, and shows all over your room. and you don't even wanna bring up the fact that you casually play rpgs whenever you can, wearing the cutest set of headphones that made you stand out in... a rather awkward way–a way you just wish you never got attention from, through stares and stifled chuckles of amusement from others.

you did all you could to ignore the stares, the laughter, the snide comments from girls who thought they were better than you–and you had grown quite used to being alone, to finding solace in games and the internet. and though it wasn't healthy, this was a place you called home; and those characters on your screen that always smiled whenever you chose a good interaction choice, whenever you held them in the right places, they made you feel happy.

but there was another boy who wanted to make you feel happy, a boy who appeared and acted like he came right out of a fairy tale; the male lead in a shoujo manga you never thought you'd live out to be female lead in.

tooru oikawa–the great king of the court, the boy every girl in your year had the hots for. you never really paid that much attention to him because, of course, why would you waste your valuable time and energy on a boy you never knew well, nor would even take an interest in you?

sure, he was your classmate and occasional partner for activities and group works, but his personality always seemed so fake. you knew he was acting like a kind of host boy in a host club, and though you knew guys like that were totally your type, you always kept your guard up around him.

it wasn't like he was going to hurt you, anyway, he was too gallant for that, it seemed. the way a boy like this would only hurt you would be through getting your hopes up that he'd ever like you, and ultimately thank you for being a mere fan and forget your name, maybe laugh about your silly headphones and the way your eyes shone whenever your favorite character called you cute in a dating sim.

but... it was these very qualities that drew oikawa to you.

oikawa had only known you existed for a few months now, since he saw you so often during class as his new seatmate. he knew you weren't anything like the girls that vied for his attention, and it felt like a breath of fresh air for him, not having someone breathe down his neck every few seconds at every little thing he does.

sure, you were a little messy sometimes, a little quiet, a little awkward–a little in your own head most of the time, but it was, in your own unique way, charming. oikawa would instinctively smile to himself whenever you'd get flustered at him asking you for a pencil while you were sneaking to play your otome games on your phone in class, and he'd feel a little proud of you whenever you'd recite in class.

he knew it was hard for you sometimes to show confidence, though he always encouraged you to stand up straight, "you look pretty when you hold your chin up high," he'd always say. of course, you'd sometimes side eye him, and it'd make him a little worried he said something wrong, but it's the fact that you keep oikawa on his toes about how he makes you feel around you that allures him to you even more.

from talking to you during class, he'd bring the conversations outside of class. of course, he'd always carry the conversation while you were trying to beat a really hard boss in your rpgs. he'd cheer you on while he had no idea what was going on–and even the rest of the third years were worried oikawa had some ulterior motives with you, but when they saw how different that usually plastic smile of his was whenever he'd look at you, talk to you, try to get closer with you... it was like there was something out of place there, that got replaced with something purer.

shocking, they know.

"alright, out with it." iwaizumi spat out, hitting oikawa lightly on the shoulder. oikawa looked at iwaizumi curiously. "out with what, iwa-chan?" "are you stupid? you know you can't make her a victim of your charms." when iwaizumi said that, he knew exactly who the her he was referring to was. it was you.

oikawa looked at iwaizumi all pouty, his eyebrows furrowed. "how low do you think of me? i'm not charming her for anything malicious..." "so you're admitting you are making her like you." "i-i never said that!" oikawa retorted, his face getting redder and hotter, his voice getting higher as he was on the brink of admitting the truth.

iwaizumi furrowed his eyebrows and pursed his lips. "so why are you doing this, it's clear she has no interest in you." oikawa couldn't argue with iwaizumi's statement, it was true, you didn't look like you had fully trusted oikawa, and that hurt him to a degree nobody, not even he could bear.

"...because i like her. and i want her to trust me." oikawa muttered, looking away from iwaizumi. it was hard for him to admit, but there was no other way to express it without getting totally crushed by his own half truths and half lies. this was the whole, unadulterated truth–tooru oikawa, the great king of the court, liked you.

he liked the way you got flustered whenever your favorite character would say they love you, he liked the way you glared at him when you'd catch on to his flirting, he liked the way you were so knowledgeable on such nerdy things that... he had watched all your favorite movies and animes, and was planning to gift you merch this coming holiday season.

"...well, you have a lot of work to do to prove to her you like her." "no kidding..." oikawa replied with a sigh, at least his best friend supported his crush on you. he knew it might take a while, a very long while–maybe a whole lifetime to prove how much he loved you. but he'd prove it to you, somehow, and he won't ever stop until he shows his little nerdy girl just how much he's serious about her; how much he loves you.

Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Mission 109... You have been warned...! 👌

[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]

This chapter was quite an interesting one...! 🤔 Especially with how it ended...!! 😲

This our first chapter of the year and did not disappoint...!! So let's us discuss this chapter shall we...? 👍

So, this chapter begins like this:

MELINDA STOP, THAT'S SOOO FREAKING ADORABLE!!! 💗😆

I just love the fact that Yor told Melinda about Loid's "concussive therapy" in the last chapter and because of that, we now get this gem of a reaction from her meeting Loid for the first time...!! 💗🤭💗

After that, it's time for Melinda's therapy session with Twilight...! Melinda tells him that Yor is the reason that she decided to come in, which Twilight acknowledges as an inadvertent assistance from Yor for the mission. After that, Loid lists off all of Melinda's symptoms and asks what might've triggered them, but she doesn't respond... Loid then tries to reassure her, which led to Melinda to say this to him:

Melinda... 🥲

After that, Twilight ponders why Melinda does not consider herself as a lively person, but she's still too anxious to give a full answer... So Twilight tries to reassure her again, but this time...:

It feels completely unsettling to me...!! 😰 Like, the way Twilight's drawn here with his inner thoughts just gives me bad vibes, but that's the thing with the characters of this series, most of them are grey characters...! Twilight may want to make a better world, but in order for him to achieve this as a spy, he has to do things like manipulation in order get the information he needs to help stop people like Donovan Desmond from causing more harm... And though he's only thinking of his mission currently, we have seen him go against what would've been more beneficial to the mission before (like deciding not to kill Yuri for Yor's sake back in Mission 83), so it's definitely possible that Twilight won't push Melinda too far, but we'll have to wait and see...!

Moving on, after sending her bodyguard Nora away, Melinda remarks that Twilight doesn't seem like a doctor (which immediately made me scared for a second that she might've figured out that Twilight was a spy) and proceeds to mention that she was a patient at Twilight's hospital a long time ago...:

Melinda then tells Twilight that she's here as a mother and a wife, which makes him come to that conclusion to ask if her distress involves her family, and then Melinda asks Twilight...:

HIS REACTION TO HER QUESTION GOT ME CACKLING!! 👏🤣🤣🤣

Twilight not knowing how to respond to that tries to figure out the best thing to say here by saying that he too is interested in UFOs, but it doesn't seem to work, so asks if UFOs have anything to do with Melinda's family, and her response was THIS:

WHAAAAAAAAT!?!? 😵

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!? 😱 DOES THIS CONFIRM THAT DONOVAN HAS POWERS LIKE ANYA, OR COULD SHE BE IMPLYING THAT THE "REAL" DONOVAN WAS REPLACED BY AN ALIEN...?! I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE...!! 😫

And well, that was the end of the chapter and, uh... I have SO MANY questions right now...!! 😵 I honestly don't what to believe at this moment, but I think I'm still leaning on the idea of Donovan having psychic powers like Anya...!! It just makes too much sense at this point!!! 👀

lets start it out with the obvious, jjk 0. this is the prequel to the actual anime and manga series (although i guess actualy isnt the correct term... you get the point) and it starts all because of yuuta and rika who were both children when they fell in love.

rika gives yuuta a ring and tells him that its a promise ring and that its a promise that they'll be together forever.

yeah rika DIES

but dw, she gets turned into a curse... by yuuta, but it was on accident so... yeah fun-

then geto shows up and basically attacks the school and yuuta and rika save it using LITERALLY the power of love. then soon enough gojo ends up telling yuuta this 'love is the greatest curse of all'

yeah love is literally the main theme of that, yuuta's love is what cursed rika and caused her to become a curse but what of gojo? why is he saying 'love is the greatest curse of all'?

well soon after this he mentions his 'one and only' and its heavily implied (actually canon) that its suguru geto, YEP the mf who attacked the school. now lets take it back a few notches shall we <33

gojo and geto went to school together where they became extremely close friends (implies lovers as they do a TON of romantic stuff in japanese culture such as giving geto second button to gojo aka the one close to his heart and them riding on a bike together which is illegal in japan but its also considered romantic to break the rules with your lover so like??!?! yeah theyre gay)

soon after they have a mission to protect the star plasma vessel and imma spare you the details lets just say that it goes HORRIBLY wrong and it ends up causing a rift between gojo and geto. gojo ends up awakening becoming a better version of himself for it and is trying to show it to geto. yet he doesnt know that what happened with him and how he basically got a power up did NOT happen to geto.

geto was left to question who he was fighting for anymore and this caused him to... get a little silly and kill an entire village anyways the kfc breakup happens yada yada and remember that these two were really really REALLY close friends at least and most likely lovers (how i'll be referring to them from now on)

now what day did geto attack the school aka the night of 1000 demons parade? december 24, the same date which is the most romantic in japan (to my knowledge) and the same date which gojo killed him... YEAH THAT SHIT WAS PLANNED

but lets move onto something a little more... recent.

ITAFUSHI!!!

honestly my fav ship and why im all writing this in the first place. their love for each other was literally so great that they killed the king of curses. the whole reason that megumi locks in is because he realizes that yuuji is gonna be sad if he dies and that he doesnt want yuuji to be sad

these two care for each other so much and its basically shown at the start of the manga, how megumi sees yuuji and saves him without hesitation, he just doesnt want to see a good person die.

he then says 'what if someone you saves kills another in the future' and when yuuji asks him that megumi cant answer. and when he can yuuji literally flips back and kills himself in order to save megumi and mind you he was fearing death a few seconds ago, saying how he didnt want to die yet and how he had regretted eating that stupid finger

yet when it came to saving megumi all of the sudden that didnt matter anymore, in fact when sukuna offered to bring him back he said no because he didnt want sukuna hurting more people... speaking over that-

SHIBUYA!!! yeah sukuna takes over yuuji and kills a bunch of people- kinda ironic seeing how megumi asked yuuji 'what are you gonna do if someone you save kills those later?' even MORE ironic that before that its revealed that yuuji swallowing the finger caused a bunch of parts of sukuna to wake up and start killing people and both of them realized this and went 'imma not tell the other cause thatll make them sad'

anyways megumi gives his bf a pep talk and then BAM megkuna and yuuji goes batshit against sukuna <3

anyways before megumi separates from sukunas body he says that he's gonna try living for someone else just one more time and its pretty obvious that this person is yuuji.

ALSO fun little thing.

A chilly breeze brushed past me, sending a shiver down my spine. A voice broke the silence from behind.

“Why are you watching this, PD?”

I didn’t need to turn around to recognize the voice. There was something unusual in his tone—normally full of humor and confidence, now quieter and calm.

Inhaling the cool evening air deeply, I kept my eyes on the colossal screen in the heart of the city. It had been broadcasting the same footage for hours: the attack on the USJ, the failure of the Pro-Heroes to respond in time.

The villains had targeted the USJ, and the heroes hadn’t made it there fast enough. Some students were injured, including my younger brother. I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was my fault. I had been on patrol, handling public relations for Endeavor, when my brother was fighting for his life.

I glanced briefly at the oversized chicken sitting next to me before returning my gaze to the screen, forcing a faint grin.

“PD, what does it stand for now?” I asked.

Hawks—Pro-Hero No. 3—sat beside me, uncharacteristically quiet but still carrying that familiar cocky smirk. He liked to taunt, tease, and give me nicknames that stuck.

“Isn’t it obvious, my purple dove?” he replied, his smile widening.

I rolled my eyes. Hawks never failed to amuse himself, even when he probably shouldn’t. “You know it’s not your fault,” he added, his voice turning serious. “I wasn’t there either.”

“You probably had some secret mission, right?” I shot back, my sarcasm cutting through the tension. “I was just doing patrol because No. 2 is too good for public relations. How am I ever going to surpass All Might if I can’t even protect Shoto?”

Hawks knew the weight of my words. He wasn’t much older than me, and he’d become a hero young, just like I had. He understood my frustrations better than most, which was probably why he had taken me under his wing. Hawks had taught me more than just combat—he had helped me stay grounded, helped me avoid becoming what my father wanted me to be. Over time, he’d become not just a mentor, but my closest friend.

“You’ll surpass All Might,” Hawks said, giving me a light pat on the shoulder. “But first, you need to go to school. You know, have a normal life.”

The news continued in the background, announcing that every Pro-Hero would now be required to attend an official hero school to be recognized and authorized. I stared at the screen, the words sinking in. That made my two years of public hero service effectively worthless. I’d never attended a hero school—I had earned my license by stopping a villain attack on my own, using my ice flames to protect my identity, ice that resembled my father’s flame mask.

Endeavor had been quick to capitalize on that moment, pushing me into the spotlight to further his dream of surpassing All Might. Now, none of it mattered.

I sighed and playfully shoved Hawks off the roof. As expected, he didn’t even try to fly and just let himself fall.

“Damn it, Birdbrain,” I muttered a bit worried, watching my hands flicker with the steam of my quirk. Ice began to surge within me, but just before I could let it loose, Hawks flew up at an incredible speed, grabbing my hand.

“That wasn’t nice, Dove. Were you trying to save me or freeze me?” he teased, his eyes sparkling with amusement. He always knew how to push my buttons, especially when it came to my fear of heights.

“I’ll get you home now,” Hawks continued with a wink. “You don’t want to be late for your first day at UA.”

I watched as he flew off into the night, his silhouette shrinking until it was nothing more than a speck in the dark sky. Turning toward my home, I noticed the lights were still on. A rare sight. I usually stayed out late, taking night patrols to avoid the awkward silences and strained conversations with my family.

“Is it true? You’ll join UA?”

Shoto’s monotone voice greeted me as soon as I stepped inside. He stood there, his face as unreadable as ever.

I nodded cautiously. “Just stay out of my way,” I said. “I won’t hold back for anyone—not even you.”

Shoto’s eyes flickered with frustration, but there was a determination behind them that I recognized all too well. He turned and walked away without another word, leaving an uncomfortable silence behind him. I watched him go, the memories of his bright smile and wide eyes surfacing for a brief moment before disappearing again.

Before I could get lost in my thoughts, I sensed another presence. My father.

Endeavor entered the room with his typical air of command. The tension in the air thickened immediately. He didn’t need to say anything for me to feel the weight of his expectations, the suffocating sense that I would never be enough unless I proved myself.

“You’ll be leaving the agency now,” he said. His voice wasn’t harsh, but it carried the kind of cold certainty I had grown to expect from him. “UA will teach you what you lack. It will make you stronger.”

I stood still, my eyes trained on the floor, refusing to meet his. My heart was pounding, though I tried to keep my voice steady.

“Stronger,” I echoed, my fists clenched at my sides. “Is that all that matters?”

There was a brief pause. He moved a step closer, and I could feel the intensity of his presence as though it was pushing down on me. “You know what matters. Becoming the best. Surpassing All Might.”

His words were like sharp needles, and even though I was used to them, they still hurt. I swallowed hard, trying to find something to say, but nothing came. The fear lingered in the pit of my stomach. Fear of failing him. Fear of him, even though I hated that I felt it.

“You and Shoto will surpass everyone. You’ll compete, push each other. That’s what it means to be my child,” he continued. His eyes, sharp and full of expectation, felt like they could pierce through me.

I bit my lip, holding back the words I wanted to scream at him. I could never say what I really felt—how much I hated this, how much I hated him. But I couldn’t stop my trembling hands from betraying me, couldn’t stop the anger that was threatening to rise to the surface.

But I didn’t speak. I just nodded, my throat too tight to respond properly. Then I turned away, walking past him without looking back.

I went straight to my oldest Brother’s room. The familiar scent and quiet calm of the room hit me the moment I opened the door. I knelt down in front of his picture and lit the candle, staring at his face, the pain in my chest as raw as ever.

“I know I say this every day, but I really wish you were here.”

The words felt heavier than usual tonight. Toya had always understood me, in ways no one else could. He had believed in me, and because of him, I had believed in myself too. Now, his dream of surpassing All Might had become mine, not because I wanted it, but because I felt like I had to.

I couldn’t save him. I was too weak then, and even now, no matter how hard I trained, I still felt like that powerless child.

I blew out the candle and left Toya’s room, closing the door behind me. My own room felt colder than ever. I walked to the window, looking out at the moonlit garden, the shadows stretching across the grass.

That’s when I saw it—a dark figure, barely more than a shadow. My heart jumped, and my quirk flared instinctively. My eyes glowed, ready to defend, but the figure vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

I stood there for a moment, scanning the garden, but the unease didn’t leave. The feeling of being watched stayed with me as I turned away and went to bed, though sleep didn’t come easily.

STINGUE ESSAY

That’s right, in this essay, I will be persuading you, and any of the doubters out there, that the ship stingue is undeniably canon, and not the sort of canon you can just headcanon away. I will present several pieces of evidence with my vast knowledge of the Fairy Tail franchise (really vast) that can completely prove that stingue is a real ship (also known as Ring, stogue, the sabretooth boys, strong, but for the sake of keeping track of it, I’ll use the most obscure name for it, stingue). P.S. if you haven’t read my Rogue post, go do it, this won’t make any sense without a firm understanding of my analysis of Rogue’s character, and it's way shorter than this so there’s no reason not to.

Exhibit A: In this manga panel, we can see that sting is wearing a cat outfit. Many of the doubters would dismiss this, saying that this was all a part of his character development in the Saber Tooth arc, where he *Allegedly* wanted to become true to his guild name and become a sabretooth tiger (with cool dragon powers). I propose a different idea. He was doing this to impress Rogue. We all know the entire Fairy Tail franchise loves cats, it’s common knowledge, if you didn’t know that then you did inadequate research in preparation for this essay. But what makes this specific to rogue is that he’s wearing a cat COSTUME. NOT CAT EARS. NOT A CAT TAIL. AN ENTIRE COSTUME. You know who else is a cool cat in costume?!?!? THAT’S RIGHT, FRESH! ROGUES CAT. CLEARLY, sting was doing this in a bid to replace Rogue’s beloved cat Fresh, and you can CLEARLY SEE Rogue blushing, however, the blushing is only in the colored version of the director cut of the manga, and its top secret (only I have a copy), so you’ll have to trust the experts on this one. Also is the girl on the right single? If so, send her my way.

I’m sure the manga readers In the crowd are reacting just like Sting and Rogue did in exhibit B. But OP, I hear you ask, what about the anime only viewers? They won’t have this part of the manga adapted for years! And I must say, what an astute observation, I completely respect your question and you have earned a red heart, you can redeem it at the bottom of the post, or if you want to pass it to a friend press the two arrows button next to it to recycle the heart. ANYWAY, this shot here, was taken directly from the seen during the the raids on the beaches of Akane, when both Sting and Rogue had been caught in a quicksand trap by the SINISTER Bickslow. Where does Stingue apply to this? You may ask. Well, just outside the frame, we can’t see (but we know its true) that everyone is running around them to get ahead, because even the background characters like Natsu and Gajeel (may the dragons bless his sacrifice for the sins of fairy tail) know that they are romantically involved, but the scene cuts to black to see fresh teaming up with stings cat whatever its name (Bradley or doug or something) to save them, but off screen, they literally reach out and HOLD HANDS in the scene. THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD DIE but their only thoughts were their mutual love for eachother. If that story didn’t make you cry, then I don’t know what did.

But OP I hear some of you asking, if they’re in a relationship, WHY havent they been openly talking about the more intimate side of their relationship? First of all, go reread the manga, second of all, this point is for you. Read Exibit C. Now, I’m sure this doesn’t need any explanation, it’s a completely self-explanatory point. But for some It is necessary, and I shall provide. These two were getting very lovey dovey during a date together, they were going on a walk in the forest and oh my, a river, and how did they get across? Stepping stones! The reason why it says a “Person stepping contest” rather than a “Stepping stones constest” is because of a translation error, no need to elaborate further. Another point to be made, more specific to this panel, is the character in the background, that very few people noticed on their first few reads, is Gandalf! Now, I’ll give you a chance to pick up your phone/ipad/PC/book after you all dropped it in shock, because that’s a lot to take in. But how does it relate to the ship? Well, Gandalf is a very close word to Gander, the word for an adult male goose, which in fairy tail culture is an animal associated with passion and romance, so Gandalfs presence obviously correlates with that. He has appeared in every single manga panel with rogue and sting in the background, further proof that they have a romantic, passionate relationship.

My next point relates to the games, which I have played time and time again just for this one cutscene. During the Mt. Hakobe chapter, the two were forced to travel up the mountain to obtain the fabled dragonberry from the mountain, in order to save Rogues adoptive mother/auntie dragon. The following dialogue ensued, starting with rogue: “Heya fresh, do you think you could pass me the beans? They’re in the backpack” (fresh was in rogues backpack at the time), fresh responded with a mix between a meow and a ribbet, and sting responded with the following: “Hahah, not more beans! It’ll stink both of our sleeping bags up for when we’re cuddled up in the tent!”. Rogue proceeded to blush and a quick time event occurred. Their obvious lovers banter shows more then enough to prove that in the games, both characters are incredibly infatuated with eachother, because as Dr Seuss (with help from me) said: “You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because” “Rogue keeps eating all the beans before sleeping”.

Now my final point in this essay is how syncronised they are. Besides the obvious romantic tension when they do their special move where their massive balls touch (obvious gay symbolism), they’re also syncronised in many other things. Most notably, finishing eachothers sentences, read exhibit D. The example above shows this, where Sting says “Ah!!!” and Rogue finishes it off by saying “!!”, a reference to Stings famous catchphrase, “Ah!!!!!”, but this time rogue added on the last 2 exclamation marks, showing a clear understanding of eachothers speech patterns and mannerisms.

In conclusion, Sting and Rogue are the love of eachothers life, which has been clearly seen throughout the Manga, Anime and Game (s)(?) If you have yet to be convinced by this essay, then I thoroughly recommend you to reread the essay if you aren’t. but if you have been convinced, congratulations, you are officially a stingue shipper, welcome to the club, no, the family. I myself am an honorary member of  the fairy tail community, according to a friend of mine, so I’m qualified to tell you that you will fit right in.

(There was another point to be made about some random person drawing art of the two of them looking at eachothers balls and blushing, but they were mere amateurs without proper understanding of fairy tail as a franchise, so I left it out.)

Manga: 「光が死んだ夏」 The Summer Hikaru Died

So, uh, this is what I've been working on while Atom, the laptop, was under repair. It's my latest favorite thing. I mean, favorite enough to make me draw something. And I almost never draw; even if I do, it's always just triangles (which made it in, anyway. Hikaru's body, you see?).

I'm not good at art (understatement), but I genuinely adore this story and the characters—that somehow translates into me doing strange things like this!

Of course, it's because someone-I-shall-not-name strong-armed I mean encouraged me to draw this thing, and then another-someone-I-shall-not-name told me to keep at it. I also strangely found myself quite zealous about finishing the piece too. Took me a week, and at least 5 out of 7 days were used on that eldritch meat tendrils. Yea, I know. I am slow. In more ways than one, ahahhaha!

Oh. As usual: I snuck in some details in there. It's kinda a Lyndisian trait to do this. The detail is only visible in Neck, due to the black background. The alt description gives the answer away, though.

Ah, this shit is getting animated! I can't wait to watch it with the first someone-I-shall-not-name!!! But I hate it when a year goes by too quickly...

The manga is really good. I really love it, even if I failed to see the love part of Boys' Love. All I can see was "the kind of friendship I lowkey desire." Ah, but I also just like the philosophical themes in it. And the horror. The ghosts here are very cute.

Sophia: Ah, yes, that knight. He indeed was!

Katarina and Sophia were fervent readers of the romance novel genre and sometimes, they would be happily discussing a book like this. It was not a topic I could step in, so I went on and started working.

Katarina: But, the illustrations in this book are not that good. They are way too abstract and because of this, they don't convey the knight's qualities. 

Sophia: I agree. Having him drawn more beautifully would have been good!

Katarina: Right? Ah, that's it! How about having a skilled person draw him for us?  Do you know someone who draws well, Sophia?

Sophia: Someone who draws well? Umm, let's see… Ah, there is! Big Brother told me Prince Geordo was also skilled at drawing pictures.

After Sophia shouted this, both of their gazes turned towards me, who was working at my desk.

Katarina: Umm~ Prince Geordo, are you skilled at drawing pictures?

After I had replied this, Katarina took a pen and a piece of paper and immediately came to me.

Katarina: Can I ask you to draw something for me?

I replied this, then started drawing the knight character of the novel just as Katarina told me.

Like this, following Katarina's indications, a gallant knight was drawn on the paper.

Katarina: This is amazing! This is exactly how he felt to me. You are amazing, Prince Geordo!

Sophia: It truly is. This is just as I pictured him.

Katarina and Sophia said this and sparkled their eyes in delight. Then,

Katarina: Umm, Prince Geordo… Can I have this drawing?

Katarina asked me this. I drew it for her, so I told her "Sure." When I did, Katarina said, "Great! Then I'll decorate my room with it".

Geordo: You will decorate your room with it?

Katarina: Yes. I think it will feel more heart throbbing to me if I look at this picture of the knight while rereading the book…. Ah! What are you doing?!

Katarina raised a displeased voice at me after I took away the drawing.

Geordo: On second thought, it would be embarrassing to me if you brought home such a hastily made drawing, so I will tear it up and discard it.

After saying this, I ripped the drawing and threw it in the garbage can.

Katarina raised a sad voice but it couldn't be helped. Even if he was just a character from a novel, I could not bear Katarina decorating her room with the picture of a man.

Explaining Vash Outside the Fandom!

So, today on another forum I mentioned Vash the Stampede. I mentioned him by way of "I don't ask myself WWJD? so much anymore as WWVtSD?" and explained "Vash the Stampede." I said "If anyone is unfamiliar with this name, go ahead and ask and I can fangirl all over you, but be warned, you will be reading all day." I got a taker. And then another taker who is a person on the forum who is straight up not having a good time right now and needs some distraction I feel - to read someone's dumb fangirling over a fandom they aren't in yet. So... I wrote up an essay explaining Vash the Stampede in Word and pasted it in shifts on the blog: (uck, looks like I'm gonna have to post this in shifts, too. Dumb tumblr!

*Flashes my fangirl license*  You asked about Vash the Stampede?  *Raises eyebrows.*  Big mistake.  You shall be here all day!  Vash is the protagonist of Trigun, an anime / manga by Yashiro Nightow.  Well, the manga is by him and there are two different animes to date, one originally airing in 1998 before the completion of the manga (and it gained the idea enough popularity that Nightow was able to continue the manga and purposefully took a different track to keep the story fresh.  Because he had to switch publishers the continuing story was titled Trigun Maximum).  As of 2023 there has been a reboot of the anime, Trigun Stampede, done in a cell-shaded CGI style that takes more cues from the manga.  It has done its own story elements, too, most notably having the City of July as a part of the story, making it almost a prequel, since the City of July is past tense in the other media.  A second set / continuation / completion of it is set for a future release date and as of yesterday, the “final phase” of the new anime will be titled Trigun Stargaze. Additionally, there was a feature-movie made in 2011 based solely upon the first anime titled Badlands Rumble, which is kind of the black sheep of the fandom (personally I enjoy it, find it very funny).  So, anyway, Vash is a tall blonde man with a Bart Simpson hairdo and a long red coat who lives on a desert planet with 10X the guns of ‘Murica.  There are two suns and five moons.  It’s a scavenger world where people barely eek out a living using a form of lost technology known as “Plants” – which are these energy and materials production entities housed in giant lightbulbs (or something more like tanks in Stampede).  No one knows how to create Plants anymore and few know how to maintain them, so everything is slowly dying (except, of course, the native sandworms.  Yep, there’s something Dune-like going on).  People live a half sci-fi half Old West existence and things are, again, very violent.  It’s a world where you have higher chances of making it out better as a bandit than a farmer.    Vash is a pacifist.  He is also an outlaw with Sixty-Billion-Double Dollars ($$) on his head because he has been shown to be capable of incredible destructive power.  Now, most of this comes accidentally from trying to weasel out of tough situations and people after him getting themselves hurt, but somehow towns fall apart.  Except for the City of July (or Jul-Ai in Stampede), which he did wipe out.  Under circumstances not of his own making or will, but the normal citizens of the planet don’t know that.  That was around 24 years ago in the first anime and in the manga.  July exists as of the beginning of Stampede.    Early on in the manga’s story, an insurance company that gets a lot of damage claims regarding damage he supposedly caused declares him a “Human Act of God” so as to avoid payouts.  He is assigned a pair of insurance agents, Milly Thompson and Meryl Stryfe, to follow him around to attempt to mitigate the damage he might cause.  In the anime, it is the same, except that his bounty is not removed for some reason.  (In the manga, the government removes his bounty per his “Act of God” status).  He is also known as the Humanoid Typhon, putting him in the same category as a destructive storm.  Vash-damage is thereafter treated in the same like as hurricane damage!  Honestly, this is one of the most creative things I have seen of any media – having the local superhero / super-cryptid followed by INSURANCE AGENTS. (I am fond of characterizing Trigun as “If Mayhem from the Allstate commercials was followed around by Flo from the Progressive commercials”).  (To Be Continued in Reblog-posts)
