Anyway, do you wanna share some fun, spoiler-free shenanigans that happened in jp's server.? Just to have some crumbs to lick off the table until we get our own sandwich (my heart is empty and my soul is crying)

spoiler-free is pretty hard, especially considering. the, uhhh, particular turn that things take directly after 6. (like, the fact that the other characters are showing up probably counts on its own?) and I do think that if you can avoid getting spoiled, most of it is definitely better as a surprise! some of the genuinely best Twst moments are waiting for you. :D

One of the things that frustrates me about some of the Discourse is that obviously it's obnoxious to tell people they'll change their minds about things like having kids, or their identity label or what have you, and people shouldn't do it. But those posts are always full of testimonials of people who never changed their minds and using 'I was right all along' as a reason for why you shouldn't question people. Which is fair!

But also consider: people change their minds all the time. Some people don't want kids until they're 35 and then they want a dozen. Some people really DO 'meet the right person.' Sometimes something really IS just a phase, and that's fine!!! Yelling about how this never happens or acting like other peoples' experience invalidates our own is not perhaps the inclusive and supportive message we think it is.

Don't tell people they'll change their mind because it's obnoxious, don't tell people they'll change their mind because there's a good chance you're wrong, but also don't tell people they'll change their mind because it makes it harder for them to actually do that.

I try really hard not to do this because I feel so guilty over asking for any type of help, but I am in a really desperate position. More so than usual. I know I've posted for requests for spreading the word about my business and stuff before because things are hard, but they've never been as bad as this.

My partner and I have a line of credit that is maxed out, and I deal with that. But when we get paid, I put all our money on the line of credit to pull as we need it for payments and everything because I want my interest payments to be lower and figure the money is better sitting there than in my account.

The problem is that with no warning, our bank decreased our line of credit by the amount I had sitting there.

This means I am $2,000 short. I cannot cover any of my payments this month or cover food, or gas for my husband to get back and forth to work. I also can't afford my dog's medication that I purchase monthly for managing her arthritis.

I really, really hate to ask but I would really appreciate any help spreading the word about my business @flappyhappystim. This is an advertising post that I share on that blog.

Imagine giving your boyfriend, Dr. Ratio a rubber duck that looks like him as a joke. He does make a comment saying it's idiotic, but he actually keeps it in his bathtub. Every time he looks at it while he's bathing, it makes him feel a warmth in his chest because it's a personalized gift you got just for him. You notice it hanging on the side of the tub the next time you bathe with him and tease him for it. "Hm. I guess it wasn't that idiotic of a present since you kept it in one of your most sacred places." He just ignores your teasing and continues reading his book.

The next time you two decided to take a bath together to relax, you notice another rubber duckie next to the one you gifted him and it looks just like you. You make a comment on it and he's nonchalant about it. His reasoning being "It seemed fitting that you should have one as well since we usually bathe together". All you can do is blush, taken by surprise from his words. He notices this and smirks. "What's wrong dear? Too shy to give one of your teasing remark?" All you can do is look away, moving back to lay on his chest. You quietly say, "It's cute." He slightly chuckles, a fond look graces his features. He wraps his arm around you, bringing you closer into him and rests his face into your hair, leaving a faint kiss to the crown of your head.

Imagine being the only medic on base that Ghost is comfortable with. Like in the rare instance that he's injured during training, or on a mission, or just in a mood, he goes to you. You're a calming presence in the storm that is Simon Riley's life.

There's definitely something between y'all that's more than just professional doctor and patient, but you haven't crossed any lines just yet, going at the pace that Ghost has set. For the most part, you're fine with it. Not like you're looking to rush into anything anyway, and Ghost has been friendly thus far, in his own distant kind of way.

Now, imagine you haven't seen Ghost in a couple of weeks. Nothing unusual. The task force had been sent to check out some terrorist activity, and wasn't expected back for another couple of days at the earliest.

Color you surprised, when Sargent MacTavish comes barreling into the med bay, making a direct beeline to you. The other medics part like the fucking Red Sea, giving the Scotsman easy access to you. He doesn't even offer an explanation, just grabs your arm and demands, "Hurry."

If you were surprised before, you're absolutely baffled when Soap leads you to Price's office. You had been expecting the tarmac, or maybe Ghost's barrack, but not Price's office.

Your confusion only grows tenfold as you're led inside.

inside Price's office, slouched over in one of the chairs, is a teenager. He doesn't look older than thirteen or fourteen, with gangly limbs and a permanent scowl that reminds you a very specific Lieutenant. If you squint, you'd almost think this kid is somehow related to Ghost.

It's then that you notice Ghost is the only task force member missing from the room.

"Captain," you say, turning to look at Price, who's sitting across from the teen, "What's going on? Where's Lieutenant Riley?"

Price is quiet for a moment, staring at the teen, who just scowls in response. Sighing, Price turns his attention to you. There's a serious look on his face, the kind that only accompanies bad news.

"There was an... accident on our last mission. Ghost got separated from the rest of the team. To make a long story short, he got ambushed by the enemy. We don't know exactly how the events transpired, or what happened, but," Price pauses, glancing towards the teenager once more.

"But this is Simon Riley."

I know some dickheads have now decided that Judaism is the "bad, violent, terrorist religion" and Islam is the "good, peaceful" one, which is only to be expected of white people, but how much of an issue is it currently? Like I've seen some USAmericans sharing how the Islamic faith shapes Gazans values and perseverance (good) except with that distinct white hippie "I'm about to imprint on this like the world's most racist duck" vibe (bad), but I didn't think they're already turning on Judaism in numbers.

Do they realize that Christianity is also the same kind of comfort to Christian minorities in Asia and Africa? That it was Buddhists that genocided the Rohingyas in Myanmar and Tamils in Sri Lanka? That Hindu fundamentalists are even now trying to ethnically cleanse Muslims in India? How Hindus and Christians are terrorized and persecuted in Pakistan? That Muslims have a history of persecuting and ethnically cleansing Jews too?

Really tired of asking y'all to be normal about people's religions man. There's no religion that's inherently violent or exceptionally peaceful. It's just like any other ideology that becomes a weapon in the hands of ethnic power. Interrogate power, not religion, and respect people's belief systems insofar as they aren't in your business.

Edit: I've amended the "long history" of Muslim persecution of Jews because it might be misleading in the current political climate. Zionism and antisemitic Arab nationalism are twin births resulting directly from Christian colonization, and Islamic empires tended to actually be more tolerant of other religions compared to Christianity, especially Judaism, which was considered a sibling religion. Antisemitism wasn't ideologically entrenched in Islamic tradition. It's simply that ethno-religious power will lead to ethno religious domination and intermittent cleansing of minorities, and Islam is no exception. Humans be humaning always.
