the art im making is for if mdzs was an ace attorney game, playing from WWX's POV to solve various mysteries/cases over the course of the plot. so this scene would be from turnabout goddess, which would loosely cover the dafan mountain mystery.

the problem with splitting novel!mdzs into turnabouts is that flashbacks are a huge chunk of the book but they don't have mysteries/ cases to solve so they've gotta be lumped together with present day stuff. imo? many of the flashbacks would likely have to be abridged so they could be retold ala DL-6, SL-9, or the fourth grade incident, where characters talk about it over some pieces of art. this is really difficult when theres a metric ton of unspoken, complex, and signifcant history between every character lmao

there's not as much of a problem with the cql timeline but i have not finished it. so.

the opening cutscenes in ace attorney always show the murder and/or the murderer plotting. the first cutscene of the game would be MXY summoning WWX, muttering about getting revenge on his family (it would also be good for him to mention the yllz being dead because that's how the novel starts.) cut to WWX's POV as he wakes up covered in blood and the investigation segment begins.

for investigations of monsters (goddess, saber, etc) the cutscene would be a scene of some poor throwaway cultivator getting their shit wrecked.

it would be cool to make a breakdown for JGY but again I need to review that scene cause I don't know who I'd base him on. maybe Vasquez or Dahlia.

Sorry not sorry but literally no one's favorite blorbo has ever benefited from their fans seizing upon one single character trait or throwaway line from the source material and making that the character's ENTIRE PERSONALITY in fanfic, or even just an inescapable factor in everything ever written about them.

I get that this happens because its seen as a guaranteed way of rendering them as recognizably characterized to all other fans or casual consumers of the media, but I genuinely feel this is counter-productive as in actuality this is the very thing that leads to so many depictions feeling one-note and superficial.

Your characterizations will always benefit from digging deeper than that. Think about whatever go-to character element you were going to lead with, take a beat to follow that down the trail to additional character elements connected to it or deriving from it or butting up against it, and make THOSE your starting point instead.

Ok so, to make it as brief as possible (proceeds to lie):

Taming is the process in which an AI develops the capacity to expand its own programming and adapt to the real world through modelling the people amd relationships around them, and is driven both by said relationships and an intrinsic desire to find a purpose to organize and make sense of their identity. The biggest requisite is being treated as a person and embracing this personhood, and another important factor is change as a catalyst for this process.

There are a lot of theories around this topic since it was described empirically before it was better understood in theory and there is no full consensus. I would say that depending on who you ask, the answer will always change a bit.

For example, someone like Rue would focus on the relationship aspect of it.

Someone like Kip would focus on the ability to do things that imitate a person's behavior and increased processing capacities.

Someone like Prototype would focus on self determination and direction of life.

Someone like Silver would focus on the ability to handle conflicts in their code, and integrating them.

And someone like TWM would focus on being recognized as a real person.

Oh yeah also taming is well known and robots are coded with an operational definition of what it is. but it's a case by case basis whether they're aware of it. You have cases like Kelvin where it's never specified, TWM who denied it for a long time, Silver who knows she counts but can't explain, and Proto who seems to have a good level of introspection about it.

i'm a very don't tolerate bullshit kind of person and I respect and expect it so much when other people are real and straight up with me anyways whatever I say stems from my own thoughts and I cannot lie to you and tell you to do something I think is stupid if you ask for advice. anyways an acquaintance of mine who majored in English unless you want to work in primary school for a pay of barely 700 dollars complained how her parents want her to get a masters degree and she's thinking about getting one in marketing or something similar and then later on spreading into tech saying how she can work as a data analyst and I literally almost laughed out loud like it's absolutely insane how little university life prepares us for the future and how absolutely useless it is that you have university graduates here thinking they can work a job that requires a degree in either IT or economy as someone who read and talked about books for grades like please be so serious right now. I'm not upset with her for thinking this is possible just the general society for letting these young people down by telling them every career option is valid and it doesn't really matter what you study in university because it does

Let alone a universal one.

for the love of god as someone who has studied international humanitarian law for the last 5 years. I BEG of you, naruto fandom, to stop throwing around words like war crimes and genocide like it means nothing. and PLEASE stop directly applying real world standards onto the systems created in the Naruto universe. I'm not saying don't compare them at all, but please recognise that the Naruto universe very much have their own established systems with their own laws and standards that are not a perfect parallel to our world. and it's for this reason that you cannot hold the Naruto universe to the same standards you hold in the real world.

criticism and comparisons are good, absolutely, but recognise that there are different standards, particularly when it comes to morality, that are established in-universe. and finally, PLEASE understand that some of the things you argue in absolutes are things that continue to be debated even in the real world in the first place! some of the standards and morals that you hold the Naruto universe to aren't even fully agreed on in real life. please just recognise all these nuances and differences when you want to make a meta about the Shinobi system by applying real world standards.

keep writing up metas about the Shinobi world and keep comparing it to the real world and critiquing and analysing and dismantling what it is. but please just be a bit more careful and nuanced when you directly critique and interpret naruto using real world standards and logic. it is important to acknowledge that there are different lenses you can view media through, and that our morals and standards just happen to be one lens. it is far more interesting anyway to critique and find fault with the shinobi system through its own logic and by following its own universe's rule.
