Yasammy Week ~ Day 3: Prom

“Mom, we really have to go.” Yaz mumbled, eyeing the large pickup truck Sammy’s father had parked near the entrance of the Gutierrez Cattle Ranch. The engine had been running for little over an hour now, no thanks to her misty eyed mother, who decided she needed an album’s worth of photos of their Prom Dresses. Sammy didn’t seem to mind, in fact, she was fully on board for the mini photo shoot. Yaz rolled her eyes, but smiled nonetheless. Prom could wait a few minutes more.

Not sure how to feel about Mrs. Fadoula’s angle here, but it’s good enough !!! Also, yes, Yaz is holding a mum, because Sammy is a Texas girl and she wants to spoil her girlfriend. I know they’re more of a Homecoming thing, but she’s just extra like that :3 (Yaz has no idea what to do with it). Yes, Sammy will be going to prom in cowboy boots, because Yaz is wearing sneakers under her dress, too.

Their designs here are based on what we see of them in the finale of Camp Cretaceous, when Yaz and Sammy grew out their hair. Very pretty :3

either way, the 118 doesn't know buck is married with a kid when he starts, and especially dont know that he is married to eddie when eddie starts

she likes pastries because they're a challenge! all I've heard from people is how difficult they are to make lmao. they especially like stuff like macarons, filo, and croissants specifically because they're fussy and hard to master. their favorite flavor is proooobably strawberry :3

I've said this before I think but, you can tell she likes you because you'll be getting random sweet (or savory, if you can't handle sweet/are diabetic) things (especially things that are time consuming or otherwise a chore to make).

they also work a part-time job as a candy maker, because honestly being a therapist who works basically pro bono (being paid by the county/state to do services for people who can't afford it normally) does not pay well. and she just enjoys the job too :) it's a nice way to destress and stim by pulling candy.

ok so single parent!jayce/jayvik au is on a mini hiatus (like only 1 month which is nothing. you won’t even feel it) but i am curious on what y’all think about what the general conflict will be

obviously, Cait is displeased with her teacher and legal guardian being in contact with each other to discuss her (no change here), but how she goes about trying to stop them is the real question 👀

one option i was thinking was Cait spending more and more time with Mrs Ambessa Medarda, her neighbor Mel’s mother. after a second or third meeting/conference/text/call —whatever those gays are doing— Jayce reaches out to Mel to help tutor Cait with her studies

(hence, more Ambessa screen time)

however, Mel is also a pretty busy woman, so cannot tutor Cait everyday, which she sadly expresses to Jayce some weeks after agreeing because it’s beginning to overwhelm her work schedule. until her mother interrupts and offers to tutor Cait on the days Mel cannot

Jayce is overjoyed

Mel wants to be too, but holds her tongue because (sideplot) maybe her mother has changed and grown out of the lady she remembers from her childhood

thus, Cait gains a new tutor (someone of whom she’s already had a liking too because of her bluntness and unapologetic nature) and incidentally becomes her confidant where she complains about Jayce and Viktor’s new “partnership”

turns out Ambessa is not only an amazing academic tutor, but an amazing war strategist (who knew! definitely not us) and begins to give Cait some tips on how to sabotage their plans to “fix her” (<- her fear because she is 12)

eventually the story starts to have Jayce try to weed Cait away from Ambessa with Mel and Viktor’s help, but of course Cait doesn’t understand why because she is doing what they asked and her grades are improving but now it is wrong

and then my other option is basically:

Cait inserting herself into the jayvik meetings while giving Viktor the stink eye

Cait trying to be subtle in changing Jayce’s mind on continuing to talk to Viktor

Cait telling Viktor about Jayce’s Ph.D thesis as a distraction away from her because she knows he also has a fascination with the same topics as her legal guardian (and Cait is very aware on the long tangents Jayce can get into)

and then Cait finding Viktor at her house one day drinking tea in the kitchen with Jayce

the worst of all privacy breaches for a parent-teacher conference (they actually were talking about Jayce’s thesis)

and then it keeps happening

Cait is in heavy denial that there’s something going on besides falling for her distraction plan

but then Ximena makes a comment about love and 12 year old Cait blue screens before deciding “wait no actually how do i reverse time”

Cait seeing Viktor smiling softly at his phone during class: STOP FLIRTING WITH MY LEGAL DAD

so yeah idk 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well, the story is veryyyyy early in making, since… this is the third character I’ve actually drawn and is coming up with concepts with… errrrr, well at least I made a full concept for Father Matthew 😔 at least that goatman got my back…

welp I should say a bit about her then! Her name is Carmilla Rose! She’s also known as The Library Witch to the neighborhood children, of course that’s probably just a rumor… hah.

I have a lot of early concept art as well, the fully colored sketch is a concept as well, it’s all concept… the only thing I can agree on is that she is an old goth looking lady so… here goes something!

anyways, I have some of the story done, it was originally gonna be a lot more horror, it still has a bunch of horror in it, but I also want it to revolve a lot around the kids in the Neighborhood and their personality… so I guess a lot of world building!

Tbh, this is probably a lot more in-depth then my usual stuff… also I mayyyy have made a blog for this story… but I’m not gonna link that juuuustttt yet, I gotta have a bit more solid footing for this story!

28) Do you experience both romantic and sexual attraction? Do you experience them the same across any gender(s) you are attracted to?

Yes, I think so? I identify as pansexual, everyone is hot all of the time lol. I think attraction to each individual person feels different, though. I am a constant case of someone who is in love with their friends. Tbh to me I don't feel a real separation between romantic or sexual or platonic attraction, what makes the most sense to me is that there are people I feel affectionate towards, and usually that just feels like a bundle of all of the above!

33) What about your LGBT identity do you feel proud of/want to recognize/celebrate?

gender queerness/gender non-conformity! The community we built here and the people I've met through this work really REALLY altered my relationship with my body and gender presentation. I've always been very attracted to gender nonconformity but it can be hard/scary to perform in a very cishet society. Getting to know all of you and having a very free environment for bodies of all kinds really gave me the confidence to dress how I want in public, and to get more comfy with the overlapping and layered labels I may use.

34) What are you needing most right now (what would make your life easier or more fulfilling in regards to existing as queer)?

Community with other trans folks. I'm in Texas and I've been trying to leave my entire life. I've encountered so few other trans people that I can have casual hangouts with or talk about day to day life with, or even have intimate relationships with. The closest I get to meeting other trans people in person tends to be driving hours to attend a queer event a couple times a year. It's been a big struggle for me this past year.
