the thing about emily axford as a player is that she rolls fine but whoo boy does she know how to play. theres a couple posts on here about murphs bad luck rolling vs emily "being able to roll a nat 20 on command," but that's just not true. emily rolls pretty middling, but she's very good at strategy, more often than not meaning that she is able to add buffs to rolls or have them work out even if she doesn't roll Great; we gotta give credit where credit is due, which is to emily's strategy and not to her rolls

obsessed w the doctor fully turning his back on clara after this statement (physically and emotionally cutting himself off) and, feeling unmoored, pulling the console lever to exert some kind of control over the situation. he then continues to put space between himself and clara only to spin around, having undone several jacket buttons, and specifically shows off the red lining interior—symbolic of his emotional vulnerability in this moment. he asks her what she thinks of him (as a person), disguising it as a question about the new outfit.

Also this is building a house of cards and I know Celia's probably just teleporting or something but with her whole "waking up on the side of the road with no memory of how she got there" thing I'm wondering if she's getting possessed and with her mentioning a "Jack" and also this episode saying she had some things she needed to work out before she could go on a date with Sam my theory is:

Celia is possessed by the ghost of Agnes Montague, who occasionally takes control and leaves Celia with memory lapses. Agnes is using this freedom to date Jack Barnabas in the moments when she is in control. Celia has been mostly okay with this until now, but the thing she needs to "sort out" is finding someone else for Agnes to possess because Celia has her own romance to attempt now, thank you, and she doesn't want to scare Sam off with her ghostly passenger dating someone else at the same time.
