Solas wanting to remove Lavellan's vallaslin takes on a whole other, deeper, personal meaning when she's wearing Mythal's.

And yes, of course, he loves her no matter which way she decides to go forward. He loves her for her spirit and it's what's on the inside that counts and yada yada but still.

Like, just sit with it for a minute. His heart, wearing on her face, the image of his oldest friend before she changed and became someone who took him from the fade and branded his face with her vallaslin and sent him into war. Not only would it have been a slap to the face to mark a former spirit with an image of your own spirit but also as a form of ownership? And it's not outside the realm of possibility that Solas asked her to.

Lavellan who keeps her vallaslin tells Solas in DAI, maybe that's what the markings used to mean but now it's been reclaimed by the dalish and means something else when he tells her about it's roots in elvhenan's slavery. Maybe like Lavellan, Solas learns to reassociate Mythal's vallaslin, not as a reminder of his past, but as another part of his heart and his future.

Or do you think the fade tear closed behind them and Lavellan was like "I changed my mind, Vhenan, take her off my face before I figure out how to do it myself."

No but conversation at the station are ALWAYS conversations about something they are doing they shouldn't be doing, and realizing something's gotta give. From the minute Eddie was introduced. in the middle of work i was plagued by my thoughts and the symbolism that i kept remembering during the hex finale and the whole reason why you have to befriend them just to even get the good/proper ending.

it's not just "oh, the drifter is giving them a pep talk." or something like that, it's literally how transference works. the whole reason that the hex are able to survive in the finale, rather than dying in the other timeline, is because we're simply reminding them that they're people. connecting with them on an emotional level - thank you albrecht, you complex bastard. the indifference has to be fought with love.

even Ballas explains the strength of the Operator's/Tenno's ability of Transference: "It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing─ And take away its pain." which is why the Operator is able to calm and work with Excalibur Umbra, because our empathy is so strong - by reaching out to Umbra, we make the Transference stronger.

Transference has to be synchronized - they have to let you in. Which is why Umbra fights against the Operator's initial Transference, which is why Arthur fights the Operator in the start of the quest - those two still have wills of their own, so Transference won't connect.

so anyway, during the Hex Finale. We're literally connecting with the Hex because the power of love, but also that's what makes the Operator/Drifter/Tenno so much stronger than average Warframes. It's simply empathy. even when you're trying to ask Arthur for permission, you can hear Numb in the start of the music sequence before your Drifter goes: "Let's get out of here, Arthur. Both of us, okay?" asking for permission, letting him make the choice to accept the Drifter.

Drifter simply helps take away some of that pain, that fear, that stress - that one thing that the Indifference simply needed to make sure they all died.

like it literally drives me insane (in a good way) that love is the driving force behind our power! we love so much and empathize so much that it's the reason we can fight the indifference! it's the reason we can get through to the lotus during a new war! it's how we connect with umbra, and the stalker, and hunhow, and it just! AUGH. LOVE IS THE STRONGEST FORCE IN THE UNIVERSE...
