Above all I'm just referencing his family dynamics. His views of the world are so dictated by his fears of repercussions from his parents that while his ultimate goal has to do with wanting to control Alluka, he even still can't see further than just 'have control of the family himself' or do anything more than sneak around behind the scenes.

Absolutely plays into what he's taught Killua as well! Forcing it into Killua's mind that running is always the answer. That surrendering if you can't win is always the answer. That keeping yourself alive and away is always the answer.

And yes like you said control is suuuuch a factor. Hisoka wants a lack of control because then it's fun and surprising and different. Illumi wants absolute control because then it's safe

I think it is SOOOO FASCINATING that Hisoka and Illumi are the first villains that you see because they're such good representations of the pitfalls of Hunter society. On the one hand you get Hisoka, who represents this overindulgence. Where you get to a point where you're powerful enough you lose the perspective of people on the ground. Where you start to believe no one matters unless they can match you. Where you no longer have to follow rules, where you can do whatever you want whenever you want because who's going to stop you? And then on the other Illumi is this hyperawareness and paranoia of knowing, no matter how far you get, no matter how powerful you become, that there will always be people stronger than you. And you might as well just roll over and take it and never try to be anything more than that because there will always be people greater than you. Both of them have failed, and they don't even realize it

I want to ask about your opinion on what tsubone meant when she said " killua was suffering less when he was being manipulated " , why would tsubone say its better for Killua when he was under his family's control?

I think what she said is so important and highlights things about Killua’s character, I'm sad its not discussed enough.

Hello! This is a great question, and it's definitely not something I see discussed a lot.

Killua under his family's control clearly suffered from abuse of all sorts, but at the same time what was required and expected of him was simple: They made all the decisions for him in the family tradition, had their own moral code (twisted as it may be), and all he had to do was obey and inherit the standards they set up for him without thinking about it too deeply. Accepting the destiny laid out for him would have made his life straightforward for him, even if it didn't match his own internal values or desires for his own life.

Liberated Killua, meanwhile, has to make his own decisions about his life and how to protect those he loves, all while fighting the programming he received throughout his entire childhood. Killua is a sensitive boy, and the choices he has to make aren't easy for him: Think of him deciding to leave Gon (likely for both Gon and Alluka's sakes), deciding what to do about Illumi when Alluka's life is in danger, when he tried to shut out Nanika for Alluka's safety, etc. Him being free to do whatever he wants means he has to make morally complex, emotionally fraught, difficult and painful decisions even at his young age, all while fighting off Illumi and trying to deal with the psychological aftermath of his family's abuse. It takes tremendous courage to face this all on his own, and Tsubone recognized the burden of this on him.

He could have had a far easier life--if not a particularly enjoyable one--had he just given in and accepted the fate granted to him by his birth, but instead he defies it--and that decision comes with huge costs to him mentally and emotionally. Of course, it's worth the costs for him to be able to control his own life, but Killua certainly has suffered as a result of his freedom.

If you ask him for forgiveness he’s gonna straight up cackle in your face and rough you up a bit

The only reason your aloud to cook is because he wants to eat without having to make food so you do it

Shalnark is gonna take a while and you may start to think you got his trust back early on you didn’t he’s just tricking you into thinking that so you let your guard down

He’s gonna keep you in a dog cage until he trust you again, a big dog cage with lots of fluffy pillows and blankets but still a dog bed

He might fully treat you like a dog for a while just to humiliate you, making you beg for food and water every time you wanted some, and you gotta drink and eat it out of a bowl to

He holds a lot of stuff over your head after that, you won’t suck him off to get rid of his morning wood? Remember how nice he was when you ran away, he could have been cruel

He just uses it to guilt trip you

Phinks folds the quickest, hearing your little cries coming from the room he locked you in is to much and he wants to hold and comfort you

He doesn’t give you all your privileges back and he’ll never fully trust you again but it’s better then nothing

He expects you to put an effort in your “relationship” now including intimate situations as well, he wants you to do stuff not just lay there and cry

Illumi was livid when you escaped and he was livid when he found you, your never gonna get privileges or trust back

He just uses you a an incubator for his heir until he has one and after he has his fairly large family your going on birth control and your just his sex toy that he uses for stress relief

He’ll let you have a knife for cooking which he also makes you do all off

He’s gonna be hitting you a lot more as well, if he didn’t do it often before he does now

Hisoka

You don’t get privileges, you don’t even get to eat most of the time, your his personal flesh light until he forgives and stops beating you up every chance he gets but your still his personal sex doll and your only job is to warm his bed from now on

He’ll let you freely use the bathroom and eat without begging but don’t take it for granted because he can hold a grudge

If you start asking for stuff again he might beat you up to remind you of your place again so just don’t

“Y/N.” Illumi warns placing a threatening hand laced with false adornment ontop of yours. His dead eyes move from the side of your face back to the therapists “My wife has been having a hard time adjusting to her new home.”

“Why do you think that is Y/N?”

Your mind quickly weaves from thought to thought, finally deducing that being truthful couldn’t get you in any worse of a situation than you already are.

“I just feel…. trapped.”

“You’ve been granted free reign of the entire estate.” Illumi flatly reminds.

“Mr. Zoldyck please allow your wife to finish her thought.”

“Alright.” They both look at you expectantly. You decide to try and ignore your husbands unblinking gaze and focus on the professional before you.

“I want to go beyond the estate. I miss the mall, flower shops, the market, other people….” You sigh “But Illumi believes I’ll try to escape while I’m out which makes absolutely no sense. Even if I did he’d be able to find me. I’d never really be free.”

She nods at you then turns her attention to your husband

“Illumi do you trust your wife’s word after hearing her thoughts?”

“No.” He sounds bored having already calculated these options long ago. “And as she’s stated, I’d quickly find her. Disciplinary action would ensue. Sleep deprivation, mild starvation, perhaps a needle etc….It’s just bothersome. I have missions to attend.”

Your mouth fell open. How could he admit that so easily?? Surely this went against some health workers code of ethics. The Zoldyck’s had to have been paying her SO well, that his confession didn’t matter.

The therapists expression remained solemn

“Mr. Zoldyck is it safe to say that you’re possessive over the ones you care about?”

“I suppose.”

“You care about me?!” You scoff

“Has that not been made clear?” Illumi questions earnestly

i am once again thinking about killua and nanika

like I can't stop thinking about how much they are the same. Like nanika really kind of mirrors killua's emotional/personal arc throughout the series. thinking about the traits they share like...

pre-canon, both killua and nanika are tools. people (their family) are cruel to them, and they are made to enact cruelty onto others. the only difference is that killua can be controlled while nanika can't be. killua 'earns' his 'freedom' by virtue of him being much easier to manage/manipulate. nanika, on the other hand, cannot be managed so she and alluka are shut away permanently.

killua and nanika are largely beholden to the will of others -- for killua, its through illumi's needle as well as years of isolation, conditioning, and abuse by his family, and for nanika its in her nature.

but when they find someone who treats them like kids, or friends rather than monsters or a means to an end, when they're not being made to hurt others, killua and nanika both give freely and ask for very little in return.

killua, over and over, makes gon's 'wishes' come true, even if its at cost to himself. gon, kurapika, and leorio all pass the hunter exam because killua breaks a rule, ensuring the victory of everyone else there. he takes gon to heavens arena so he can train to beat hisoka, he agrees to help kurapika fight the phantom troupe because gon wants to help kurapika, he helps gon win greed island, and he gives everything to help gon beat the chimera ants. and all killua asks in return is that he be allowed to stay by gon's side. gon very rarely verbally asks or demands anything of killua (which some people portray as a sign of his selfishness, or that he takes for granted that killua will do whatever he wants, but i digress) but killua gives regardless because what gon has given to killua means so much to him --freedom, his friendship, his company, his trust, and his open and verbal affection.

nanika, in turn, fulfills all of killua's wishes and asks only for his love in return -- that he hug her, pat her head, and tell her she's good. She never makes cruel demands after killua's wishes because he never makes self-interested wishes, he never makes her hurt anyone for him. even as a child, he treated nanika like just another little sister, asking her to play with him and to fulfill the kinds of wishes she likes to do, such as healing people/animals.

killua (for most of the series) and nanika don't really have concrete goals or objectives of their own beyond securing love and affection by being useful to their favorite person (codependency twins !)

of course, killua and nanika are both eventually betrayed and incredibly hurt by their person, because that's just how codependent relationships play out, especially among people as young and emotionally immature and traumatized as gon, killua, and nanika are.

all of this culminates in maybe my favorite scene of the series, where killua realizes that he's hurt nanika in a similar way that gon have very recently hurt him, and also that by shutting nanika away, he's really just repeating their parents' abuse of her. so he doesn't just apologize, but he demonstrates that he knows why what he did is wrong, and why he did it, and promises never to do it again.

i only wish we cold have seen gon's apology :/

My MHA crossover with HxH series

This is going to be my finest work. It's very ambitious and the first two parts are already on Ao3.

The series is called If Wishes were Kisses.

There are going to be ten parts to this series in total.

The overall plot is this.

Nanika grants a wish and as a result several characters from HunterxHunter are reborn with their memories into MHA. They are reborn to aged up MHA characters.

Part One which I have called Baby Making starts the story with Kaminari who has a one night stand with Hatsume at their graduation party. Hisoka is born from these characters. This is a humor focused story with a good bit of found family. It's as wholesome as you can get with Hisoka in character. You could call it crack with plot.

We are 22 chapters and 44,127 words in. Hisoka is 3 years old and I will aim to end the story when he is in his 20s. It's going to be a long and wild ride.

Part Two which I have called Family Making starts with Momo and Shouto fighting a villain who uses his quirk to kill people, but little do they know that under certain circumstances instead of taking a life this quirk can create one. As a result Momo and Shouto are the parents of Illumi. This is a drama focused story and it begins when Hisoka is nearly 3 years old.

We have a lot of healing here. A lot of family drama and a very slow burn romance happening between Shouto and Momo.

This does not focus on petty drama. This is me taking the Todoroki family drama in one hand and the Zoldyck family drama in the other and clapping my hands together so hard that Momo manifest her own family drama.

We are 12 chapters and 27,388 words in. Illumi is 3 months old.

Note: These two stories are being written at the same time. You do not need to read both of them to understand the other. I'm trying to have Hisoka and Illumi's relationship as cannon as possible which is complex. Part 3 isn't out yet, but I already have the first chapter written. It will take place when Illumi is 7 years old. This will have a new character focus and I'm leaning into making it a parody with some angst elements.

Part 4 and Part 5 will be posted at the exact same time. They will both have new characters. First chapter for part 4 is already written.

Part 4 with be a light hearted RomCom. Very funny and sweet and nothing hurts although I'm going to trick you into being sad a few times just to find out I'm lying about it.

Part 5 will be a heart wrenching dramatic Romance with a good bit of Hurt/Comfort with focus on the Comfort.

Yes this is the same romantic relationship told in two very different ways. You could read it apart from each other, but why would you want to?

Part 6 will have only 2 chapters. I will post the first one anytime after part 5 and it will be the prologue. We will get the details of how this wish came to be. The last chapter will take place after part 8 and it will be the Epilogue. I will set it up in such a way to be primed for a sequel if I chose to write one.

Part 7 will finally go into an action adventure plot. Bits of foreshowing for this will have been everywhere.

Part 8 will be a shared story between two characters. It will be sweet, but I don't want to give anything away.

Part 9 will be One shots of side characters. This will actually be amazing. I have ridiculously cool ideas for these and everyone will be shocked and awed about it. Your welcome in advance.

Part 10 is just where I'm gonna shove all the sex! There are gonna be a lot of relationships going on, but in most cases a detailed sex scene is going to take away from the story I'm trying to tell. So that's where the porn will go and I may take requests.

You sat before the vanity that Illumi had provided upon your request, lacing your fingers through your hair as you observed the dark bags puffed up beneath your eyes. 

It was funny. You had nothing to keep yourself busy in this mansion, nothing to do aside from taking rests or wandering the halls aimlessly, restricted to Illumi’s bedroom and a few spare rooms that were mostly barren. Any “rest” that you were able to get was not restful at all, though. You constantly felt on edge, never knowing when Illumi would come home, or what he would want from you when he did; his “perfect wife.” 

You were fully aware of what Illumi and his family did for work, if the dangerous training room that he had shown you during your first week here wasn’t enough of a clue. You, on the other hand, had only been working a stepping-stone part-time job before Illumi had taken you away. This perplexed you in the moments where you’d try to think of the reason behind your kidnapping; you’d further confuse yourself when asking him about how long until he planned for you to start training, like him and his fellow assassins did, so you could keep up. All he would say was anything along the lines of  “That won’t be necessary.” 

So then what was it? At this point, you thought that Illumi must have chosen you randomly. His entire family was active in their business, yet he didn’t seem interested in involving you any time soon. At dinner, you would prod at your food and keep your head down, remaining silent while everyone else presented their reports for the day; whether the elimination of their target went well, or if it was completed with difficulty and obstacles. This was the only time of day where you would be around Illumi’s family, your interactions brief when they would condescendingly ask you the same thing you had been asking Illumi. He would speak for you then, giving them the same “She won’t be training” response, which would prompt them to leave you alone. (You could still feel Kikyo’s scrutinizing visor trained on your every movement thereafter…like you were her next target). 

Thinking about this only ever amplified your emotions and gave you a migraine. Not only the puzzlement, but the sadness and longing to return to your actual home; the boring day job that you took for granted and the bothersome coworkers who you’d give anything to have come and bother you right now, like old times. You sighed softly, eyes panning down to a blank space on the vanity’s surface as your fingers stilled, becoming lost in your thoughts as you tended to do nowadays when left alone with them for too long. Gentle but firm fingers abruptly wrapped around your shoulder, and you jumped upon seeing Illumi in the mirror behind you. When did he get in here so quickly, and so quietly?

“Y/N? I called your name a few times. Are you feeling alright?”

No, you never felt alright anymore. But you nodded your head anyways, putting your hand over his in false reassurance so he wouldn’t read too much into your inattention.

“It’s time for bed.” he stated plainly, pulling his hand out from under yours and turning his back to you as he strode away. If you actually felt anything genuine for Illumi, the immediate cut in contact would have saddened you, but you simply didn’t care. Instead, you wordlessly followed him to the bed, traipsing over to your side to slip under the covers and face the wall. As you listened to the sound of Illumi switching the lights off, you let your eyes fall closed, glad to be concluding such a boring day. You dreaded the next one to come though, which would surely be the same.

“Y/N.” 

Of course, you couldn’t sleep just yet. 

“Yes?” the word was slightly muffled by your pillow. Your eyes opened disorientedly when Illumi pulled your shoulder down, forcing you to lay on your back. He was upright, and somehow in the darkness of the room you could still see his eyes peering down at you;  piercing through you. A chill slid down your spine at the sight, subtly wracking your body. 

“Have you been feeling excluded?” His head dipped to one side, inquisition evident in his tone. He could always read you; he would know if you were lying, it all depended upon the answer you gave. 

You pulled your body up, seating yourself against the pillows. Was this worth lying about, for the sake of trying to get the conversation over with so you could fall asleep sooner? At the very least, if he didn’t believe you (he wouldn’t), you’d have a short talk, something that would count as some of your only socialization of the day (the week, actually. Those dinner interrogations never counted as socializing to you, and Illumi had been keeping your interactions before bed very curt these last few days). 

“No, I’ve been fine.”

If you blinked, you’d have missed the miniscule shift in his otherwise blank expression. Was it perhaps vexation at your blatant lie? You realized that was not the case when he reached for your hand–affection? He had barely touched you since your arrival here. This was certainly out of place for him, and you did not like where things could be going if this was where he was deciding to start. 

“I know your potential, Y/N.” His thumb rubbed across your knuckles–your breath hitched. “Because of that, I think we can prioritize something else that is much more important than your training.”

You tried to ignore his odd intimacy, forcing yourself to focus on what he was saying instead.

“What could be more important than that?” you shrugged, clueless as to where he was headed. Genuinely…what else was more of a priority  for you right now than training to keep up with those you were surrounded by? 

“Creating an heir.”

Oh. You weren’t sure what to say to this, not knowing the extent of what he meant. Thankfully, he continued before you dwelled on it for too long, though perhaps dwelling would’ve been better than hearing the blunt truth moments later. 

“Training would only hone capabilities that you already have, and that would waste time in the grand scheme. It’s better to ensure that we produce a child who will inherit our capabilities as soon as possible, to start them early.” 

You blinked then, like a clueless student listening to their master who could ramble on about some topic that was generally lost on others. You wished that what he was saying was lost on you, but you understood exactly what he meant. What you hadn’t expected to happen next was the swiftness as he moved to hover above you, his lengthy hair falling to one side of his body like a curtain, shielding you from the muted moonlight that shone through the window. Instinctively you shoved your hands into his chest (which did nothing, his body was too solid to be moved by someone with your strength), trying to create distance after such brazen words had been spoken. Did he want to do all of that now? You certainly didn’t want to!

“I-I’d like to go to bed” you mumbled shakily, your fingers curling into weak fists as your efforts to push him away were becoming more and more futile. He grabbed your hands with one of his own, pressing them back down against your own chest.

“I’ve waited long enough for this” he uttered, not even allowing you a second to react before he leaned down, kissing you harshly; his hunger evident in the force of his motions. Your breath hitched once again, but now his smothering made it so that you couldn’t breathe at all. Your heart began to race, and you tore yourself away from him by desperately whipping your head to the side, gasping in as much air as you could once freed. Given the uncharacteristic brashness Illumi had exhibited up to this point, you fully expected him to grab you by the face or your neck, enforcing eye contact so he could continue what he was doing before. But he didn’t, he allowed you to regain your breath, simply observing as you did. 

When you seemed to have calmed back down, he advanced again–slower this time–releasing your hands in favour of placing his on either side of your head. You still weren’t reciprocating, sinking as far away into the mattress as you possibly could while he proceeded. He could see what you were doing, and he actually let out a huff, displaying his annoyance clear as day.

“What makes you think that you can disobey me?” 

Uh, everything? You didn’t ask for any of what he had done for you thus far. Kidnapping you, now trying to have a child with you. a bit of info on the Zoldycks below.

The Zoldycks rule the underworld, even their children are feared among demons.

Only the Zoldyck family have amulets that allow them to visit the human world, unless a calamity happens, or humans actively try rituals to bring demons to their home, demons remain 'obediently' in hell.

Kikyo hides her tail but she does not have wings. As a demon of darkness, she gets weakened by the sun, and avoids the living world, finding her husband a much much better personal sun, the only light worth the pain. She lost her wings and sight with him.

Kikyo shadows are so thick they become a physical thing that instills fear in mortals. Her face can only be seen when Silva kisses her and his flames get close, but that hasn't happened in a while. None of their children knows what she looks like.

Silva's fire can seriously hurt if he doesn't control it, out of his children, only killua and Illumi have ever seen him with white flames, usually blue flames are enough to blind beings of shadow.

Rumors have it Kikyo and Silva were in love once upon a time, or at least, as close to 'in love' as they can be.

They have consumed plenty of souls, and caused enough damage in the living world to be feared and gain titles. Whenever there is a dark starless night, or a scorching sun that overstates its welcome, people fear they are walking in the living world.

Silva was nerfed a lot after a 'end of the world' scenario where people were forced to work together to kick him out, and couldn't use most of his powers in the living world.

Killua can be hurt by flames but it's very very hard, no fireplace can hurt him. In fact, he would love to sleep in a fireplace.

Illumi can erase people's memories and with time he learns to drive them insane. He loves his family and nothing else. Though some humans intrigue him slightly (he is unaware of said fact)

Souls are needed to gain power, but they don't feed a demon: they cannot gain fat from eating souls, they need to chew on a body. Most of the Zoldycks got their mother's appetite and eat on rare occasions, only when they find an appetitizing human, but Milluki likes the taste of people and goes overboard at times.

Milluki finds some human entertainment (such as games, movies, inaccurate demoniac things, etc) nice. And he bring toys with him on his rare trips. The family does not approve of his hobby but since he brings them soul, they let him be.

Alluka is the only child whose powers are a blend of her parents: She creates a fire that produces a lot of smoke and steals other sources of near by light to exist. Usually, killua is the one making fires for her to steal.

Kalluto loves his mom and usually does what she wants. He hasn't been outside yet.

Everyone still have their training/torture.

Nanika grants wishes, similar to canon, at first they throw her into the living world to see what will happen, using mortals as tests. They got wary at the result, noticing it happened with demons that asked her for wishes too, and decided to lock her up instead.

Illumi erases Killua's memory of her so Killua feels oddly more empty. He chalks it as a result of living in this gloomy underworld and craving to have a friend in the nice living world, full of fun things to see.

Killua never had the urge to eat any humans, only doing to survive and not relating to how much Miluki likes doing it. He will eventually have a mini crisis wondering if he wants to kiss Gon or eat him when he first get a crush, much to his own horror.

The three missing zoldycks.

It has been a widely known fact that Maha is the most unknown zoldyck in the bunch. Which I find that assumption to be actually false. Granted, the guy is a mystery just as much as the Dark Continent itself but he’s not the only one in the family who is deemed as mysterious. All we know about the guy is that he’s stand-offish, is an enhancer according to the Hunter’s Guide and doesn’t frequently interact with his own family.

Besides him, we also have Zigg Zoldyck and Zeno’s wife. Yes, Zeno’s wife has been mentioned only once, very early in the story.

When Gon, Kurapika and Leorio get on the tour bus for Kukuroo Mountain, Coco Loo (the bus guide) mentions that the family currently consists of five siblings, the parents, a set of grandparents, and a great-grandfather.

We know Maha couldn’t have possibly been the great-grandfather of the family because in this small diagram made by Zeno, we can see Maha positioned above the great-grandfather which makes him the great-great-grandfather of the family instead.

Maha is not only NOT mentioned in the numeration of Coco Loo but his position in the family relationship diagram being labelled as “basically untouched” encourages the fact that he is laid aside from the family.

As for Zigg, he has been mentioned by Coco Loo’s numeration as the “great-grandfather” and Zeno’s wife as a set with Zeno when Coco said “a set of grandparents”. Coco Loo has also specified in her explanation that the composition of the Zoldyck family is a recent one meaning that the members she just enumerated are currently alive.

Maha’s existence and place in the family has strangely not been stated by Coco Loo almost as if he wasn’t even alive to be mentioned and yet, we saw him fully active and well when he joined Kalluto and Illumi’s assassinations of the Ten Dons.

Whether it was Maha’s choice to be cast aside from the family or not is up for debate.

When it comes to Zigg, all we know about him is that he was the one responsible for bringing the calamity Ai from the Dark Continent back to the known world which must’ve slowly gained consciousness as the generations went one by one. (For this topic, I considered Zigg to be the great-grandfather of the family since he seems pretty young in this panel while Netero is an old man compared to him.)

We don’t know where he currently is, all we know is that he is still alive but NOT present in the zoldyck family relationship diagram.

As for Zeno’s wife, she remains a complete enigma.

We’re 400 chapters deep in the manga and we don’t have a clue on who she is, how she looks like, where she is, what is she like and especially what is her connection with the family. Not only that, but she is such a mystery in fact that we don’t even know her name or her relationship with her husband Zeno. You’d think that for being the grandmother of the family you’d have a place in the zoldyck family relationship diagram and yet she’s nowhere to be found. She doesn’t even have a circle of her own with a heart line directed towards Zeno like how Silva and Kikyo’s line looked. All we know about her, is that she is alive thanks to Coco Loo’s explanation of the family composition.

So in short, here are the three missing zoldycks ranked from the most mysterious (1) to the least mysterious (3).

3. Zigg Zoldyck

(I chose to rank Zigg as the least mysterious zoldyck since we know more things about him than his other vague relatives like who his allies are and what he accomplished.)

PS: Also I should mention that Zeno’s wife’s silhouette in the anime doesn’t count as a hint on what she could look like since the manga never showed her design.

This was so goofy for me to write, I hope you enjoy! Sorry if it's not exactly what you wanted, but I think it covers the vague scenario at least.

Kikyo

Kikyo absolutely adores Killua, in her own way, so the fact he'd even dare to get married without letting her know or vet her daughter-in-law would break her. Finding out he had a kid, let alone multiple? She'd keel over like a goat.

Illumi

On the topic of Killua getting married, Illumi's hurt he wasn't invited, but otherwise he wouldn't exactly care. He's not controlling anymore. Killua has made his boundaries clear, Illumi's a good brother, and he respects that. Plus, if Killua gets married, the pressure on Illumi to carry on the lineage goes away! So, he's happy for Killua. He's fine. He's happy he found a loving partner. And has children who won't become assassins. He is. So happy for his baby brother.

Milluki

Unlike Illumi, I don't think Milluki would honestly give a single crap beyond agreeing with his mother for praise. His only hat in this fight is being pissy Killua's family can't be drug into the fold, his kids won't be up for inhumane torture, and his wife is 'ugly'. But, of course, Killua's marriage and his spouse being trash will not spare her Milluki sliding into the dms to try and get nudes and then call her names for not cheating. A fact sure to become fodder for Kikyo

Kalluto

Kalluto is fairly young, so their main concern would be the jealousy. They'd hate that Killua's kids won't become assassins, won't go through that training, and won't be around to play with them because Killua would murder his family if they tried. Other than that, like Milluki, they'd only really agree with Kikyo for acceptance and to not annoy her. Kalluto doesn't strike me as being particularly controlling yet, they just do as they're told.

Alluka

Alluka would get to visit her nieces or nephews, and she'd adore Killua's family. So long as he's still sure he loves her, Alluka is honestly and truly happy for him. She'd want to grant his family wishes, but Killua would probably dissuade that due to the cost, but he'd appreciate it and that would also make her happy.

Silva

Silva would be moreso pissed that Killua would not let his family near the Zoldycks, and would make sure they had no chance to break in or anything extreme. Then you add onto that disrespect of getting no notification of the wedding, let alone childbirth, and Silva is pissed. He only wants what's best for his family, and Killua is supposed to be the next head of the house, so he needs to integrate his wife and kids into the family business, he needs to quit being so hostile to them. But, of course, he'd try to keep his emotions level. There'd be no point in worsening their chances of reconciliation. Plus, despite how infuriating it would be, there's a shred of pride in Killua getting himself to a point where even the Zoldycks can't get him.

Zeno

Zeno is by far the most amused out of the group. Killua went off and got married and had kids without them knowing? Impressive, if a bit upsetting that he cut them out so much. And, he got himself to such a point that they can't retaliate or kidnap the kids? Another impressive feat! Good for Killua for managing that. In all, Zeno seems like he's too old to exactly care about the lineage. Silva's got other kids, it's above Zeno's pay grade to angst over Killua not wanting his kids to become assassins like he did. Zeno's more interested in the war he started when he got out of the zoldyck's reach.

Killua Zoldyck deserves better

I have been watching Hunter x Hunter (2011) alongside the wonderful Media Club Plus podcast (that's 95 episodes and no more, so you can expect spoilers but beyond that point I'm in the dark), and I have thoughts I need to scream into the void.

TW: references to child abuse and canon-typical violence

Killua is the best little murder boi and he deserves so much better. I want to adopt him and show him that he deserves love that isn't dependent on how well he can shut everyone out emotionally (and rip people's hearts out, I guess). The show does such a good job demonstrating how an abusive home will leave its marks on you and undermine everything you do and every relationship you try to have after leaving. As someone who grew up in an emotionally abusive household, I recognise the overwhelming and disproportionate fear response you get when faced with conflict. The inability to defend yourself and even the ones you love is very real, even if I've never been put in mortal danger at the hands of a cat boy. Yet. A girl can dream.

Getting Illumi's pin out could have felt like a cheap cop-out if we hadn't seen Killua struggling with the effects for several arcs and then gruesomely reaching into his own head to remove the physical manifestation of (and allegory for) the trauma response. The fact that he didn't even notice the pin before that moment is also fitting, since you usually become blind to the origin of what your body and mind determines as an incredibly vital survival reflex. Recognising and dealing with it is hard, and it's gruelling, and it usually takes years of therapy and and environment that doesn't require you to uphold your maladaptive reactions. Since this is shounen, we can't have Killua undergo years of therapy to recover, so this emotional character moment was super effective at making me tear up and cheer. It was satisfying. In a true shounen fashion, the power of Killua's love for his best friend has prevailed over his family-induced trauma.

Speaking of best friends, and this may be controversial:

Killua deserves so much better than Gon. Killua is so single-mindedly loyal and devoted to this oblivious boy who takes him for granted at every turn. I choose to read this relationship through a queer lens (Killua is in love with his best friend who barely even thinks about him), but it's not necessary for my point to stand.

So, obviously the friendship is not completely one-sided. Gon quite literally walked into Killua's assassin mountain home to drag him away from his abusive family. (An interesting side point: Killua chose to subject himself to the family's punishment, even though he could have walked away at any point. He had been programmed to believe he deserved it, which is very common in abuse victims.) Killua feels like Gon is the first person who valued him outside of his family, since he hasn't been allowed to make friends. Of course he's going to devote himself mindlessly to him. This is also quite common in abuse victims: you latch yourself onto whoever shows you kindness, because you fear that no one else will ever love you if they leave.

Meanwhile, Gon is completely absorbed with his own goal of finding his dad (who would deserve a rant of his own) and generally doing whatever he finds fun or interesting. He expects Killua to follow him but also seems entirely fine with the idea of parting ways. The fact that he's so blind to Killua's unhealthy devotion to him means that he will keep putting Killua into danger and uncomfortable situations (you know, since he says he's fine with it) without any regard for _why_ Killua is fine with it. I'm pretty sure Killua would be willing to die for his "best friend", and if he does, I swear I'm done with the show. This friendship is not balanced. It's not even codependent, since only one party is dependent on the other.

Now, I'm well aware that these are literal children (and moreover, literal shounen characters) whose emotional and character development is not done. I also love both characters dearly and their relationship makes for some good television. But I stand by my thesis statement: Killua Zoldyck deserves better.

Thinking about how killua has so many doubts on being friends with gon because of illumi and his past .. so he never truly believes he deserves their friendship.

Thinking about how gojo pursues a job as a jujustu high sorcerer in order to try to prevent students from going through what geto did.

Thinking about how toji sacrificed hisself again because he felt even if he couldn’t be the perfect father he could at least grant megumi this one thing. Also how pleased he was that megumi wasn’t a zenin.

Thinking about teenage gojo devouring sweets, losing his bestfriend, but still having to take care of 2 kids and put on a bright personality.

Thinking about how zoro would have immensely struck sanji down if he found out what happened at whole cake and their probably would be much tension even worse than the usopp situation.

Thinking about how ace never even knew sabo was alive so he probably thought he was leaving luffy alone, but also the fact that when sabo had amnesia, he probably saw ace so many times in the newspaper and thought he looked familiar but couldn’t put his finger on it.

Thinking about how marineford would have went different if ace didn’t react, but ace wouldn’t be ace if he just let that go.

Thinking about the familial relationship that developed between perona, zoro, and mihawk. (would love some deep dives on that)

Thinking about how Uta and Luffy would be bestest of friends and would reunite when luffy gives shanks his straw hat.
