If you’re nervous about Watson staying healthy, consider drafting Romeo Doubs or Jayden Reed who also have the ability to rack up yards and scores.

Jaire Alexander and Xavier McKinney (DB): If you’re in an IDP (Individual Defensive Player) Draft, consider drafting these two secondary stars who can contribute significantly to your team’s defense. Applying Online on ADELE for the Teaching Assistants’ Programme in France

Coucou ! So in today’s blog, I will bring to you the most updated information regarding applying for the Teaching Assistant Programme in France to Teach English in France. From 2022 owards, the application process is completely online and so now you need not get any papers printed or signed by your établissement or French teacher. Most new applicants are having lots of doubts regarding the new application process, so I thought I’ll try to contribute with the best of my knowledge and research.

If you do not know yet what this programme is, please refer to my blog post.

So if you are ready to live amidst and explore French life while also getting a paid opportunity to travel in Europe, and if you plan to apply for the French language assistant program to get selected for the upcoming year, here is some important information you will need to know before applying:

TAPIF ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: ● You must be an Indian citizen and must have a valid passport. At the time of application, you MUST be residing in India.

● You must be between 20 to 35 years of age before 1st October of the year that you are applying. ● You must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. ● You must have a minimum level DELF B1 or a Bachelor’s degree in French. (A Master's degree without a Bachelor's degree won't work in case you do not even have a minimum of DELF B1 certification.) ● You must have an overall 7.5 or more bands in IELTS (Academic test) under IDP. The individual module scores do not matter. However, an overall band score of any less than 7.5 is NOT accepted. ● You must be currently enrolled as a student at either Alliance française or at any recognized university in India. WHEN DO THE APPLICATIONS OPEN

The applications usually open around the month of October every year. This year they opened on 20th October. The last date for application is 2nd December. However, most often, the deadlines are extended up to almost the mid of January.. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATION FOR TAPIF (Along with some FAQs answered):

● Valid passport ● Student status: You’ll need a Bonafide certificate from your university or Alliance française. ● IELTS (Academic) Result under British Council or IDP, not older than 2 years, 7.5 or more bands. An overall band score of any lesser than 7.5 is not acceptable. The individual module scores are not considered. ● DELF B1 or upper certification OR Bachelor’s degree in French. An Attestation de réussite can be attached in case the DELF certificate has not been received yet. A Master's degree without a Bachelor's degree won't work. In such a case, you will require a minimum of DELF B1 certification. ● Lettre de motivation (in French and in English)- 350- 400 words approxfor each. You should draft your lettre de motivation in English and in French on a Word Document/ Google document first, and then copy-paste it on the form. Finally, make changes, if needed, instead of directly writing it in the form. ● Lettre de recommendation on ADELE from your CURRENT French teacher who is working at a university or Alliance française. A teacher working as a freelancer, or someone who has now resigned from the university or from Alliance française, or someone who was your teacher in the past cannot give a lettre de recommendation. ● Proof (identity card) showing that you are currently enrolled at a recognized Indian university or at any Alliance française in India at the time of application. You could be enrolled for any course- online/ offline/ distant education course/ in any discipline (not necessarily French). ● Marksheets of all educational qualifications: High school (+2), Bachelor’s (obligatory), Master’s and above (if completed). ● Birth certificate (obligatory in English): This is an extremely important document for most of the documentation for application and while you’ll be in France. The French translation is not needed at the time of application but MIGHT be required at a later stage once you are selected. The same goes for the apostillation of the birth certificate.

TAPIF APPLICATION PROCESS The entire form is in French and from this year onwards, the entire application is done on the platform called ADELE. The registration process can only happen in sequence. You must follow the following three steps to complete their application:

STEP- 1: Registration of your Institution/ University/ Alliance française where you are currently enrolled as a student: Institutions may access the registration form on the platform on this page. Here's a tutorial.

STEP- 2: Registration of the Professor Evaluator (PE) (Your Current French Professor from whom you will get the recommendation) In order to evaluate the assistant’s application, professors must create their own account on ADELE, by linking to their home institution as in the previous step. Teachers may request registration on this link. Here's a tutorial.

STEP- 3: Creation of the Wizard Account (You need to create your account) Assistants may request account creation on this page. Here's a tutorial.

Once this process is done and approved from the applicant’s side, the form gets locked, it goes to the Embassy, and no further changes can be made.

Voilà ! Now that you have sent out your application, you may sit back and relax, and wait till April to hear from the Embassy about your selection. Take this time till September to make the best out of it while learning new things, preparing for your séjour in France, spending time with friends and family here and brushing up on your French Speaking and Listening.

Brazil Government, Congress keep authors of budget allocations confidential

Although Supreme Court demanded transparency on parliamentary budget allocations, bill about it hides the lawmaker’s name

The supplementary bill drafted by the Lula administration and the Congress leadership to regulate parliamentary allocations to the budget keeps the identities of the lawmakers responsible for directing funds through committee allocations confidential. This comes despite pressure from civil society and the Supreme Court.

Additionally, committee allocations will be set at R$11.5 billion per year, and new rules will decelerate the growth of funds allocated by Congress. The division of state caucus allocations among individual congress members will be prohibited, and mayors will be required to explain their use of direct transfer allocations.

Valor has viewed the document sent by the Lula administration and Congress to the Supreme Court for evaluation. The court will only deliberate after the Legislature approves the proposal and files it in the ongoing processes. Until then, the budget allocations will remain blocked.

During an event at IDP college on Wednesday in Brasília, Justice Flávio Dino, the rapporteur on the secret budget case, said Brazil’s top court will await the bill presentation in Congress and that allocations will only be allowed if they meet the traceability and transparency criteria required by the court. “When these criteria are met, when the data aligns with the Supreme Court’s decision, then the budget execution can proceed without a doubt. Until that happens, we may examine each case individually,” he said. “Expenses need to be specified, identified regarding their origin and destination, and published on the web,” he added.

What is workday adaptive planning training?

Workday Adaptive Planning training lets workday advisers gain  moxie in headcount planning,  fiscal planning,  pool planning, and advanced modeling. This training enables trainees to authorize plans, publish them and make them available in Workday HCM and Finance so that the downstream druggies can use that data. Core Adaptive Planning:

Slow Burn February (25/02/23)

It’s a really short month I think. In the beginning, I was so desperate to change my life for real. I didn’t start doing the applications to apply to universities for Chevening yet. It was a manic episode I think. 

At the beginning of the month, I registered and attended a sharing session by IDP at ACE TK. To be honest, that was really the start of a manic episode. I don’t where I got all the energy. I was so fearless and reckless. I met b Reasmey & b Mike and I got the courage to stand up and ask one question. I was so proud of myself that moment that I dragged myself out of my cave.

Then I started the motivation letters for the Chevening universities. It was never as easy as I thought. Each university has its portal. It’s like doing the Chevening application 3 times. By the time I got the courage to finish the draft & ask lecturers for Recommendation Letters, 3 days later I got rejected by the Chevening committee. What a joke! I was so glad that both lecturers responded back to me. Too bad I wasn’t so responsive and lecturer Dara didn’t respond further. It felt like unfinished business. It took me so long to decide whether I should push through to get the recommendation letter to apply next year or not. I hate how indecisive I am. I ended up asking lecturer Cheata and she finished it for me. I’m so grateful. 

I also met my DIY teammates back. We talked a lot and were so ready to apply to Australia Awards. I was 60-70% want to apply, but after hearing they would refund the IELTS test fee, damn! What a motivation for me to apply! I still end up not started it yet. 

I was also glad to do the Tebbyand with BKT. Although, it got annoying at times. He’s quite attentive to detail or just ចិបចុប​ very much. It’s a good thing and a bad thing at the time. I’m so glad to apply my skills, especially in pricing. There were so many obstacles, including with the suppliers and printing house. At least it happened,  something memorable this February. The collab content didn’t happen this month yet though. 

I also started the morning pages. I wrote 3 pages every day for the past 3 weeks or something now. I don’t get the breakthrough ideas or something. It just helps me with the clarity of thoughts and lowkey forced me to go do something I’m scared of so I could have something to write about lmaoo. I take a break today and assume this monthly reflection is the morning pages today. I don’t know how long could I sustain this habit. It gets hard to write something on some days. It was also a chance for me to read a chapter of a book each day. 

I also went through a period of bad luck? I got severe toothache and had it removed. it cost me like 50$. Damn! Life repeatedly teaches me that nothing is more valuable than health. 

I also did the vision board on a computer screen! It wasn’t perfect but it’s a start. 

At work, I was also part of the event of 2 SMEs for an NGO project! I mean it was a collective effort of course but I’m just still so glad to be part of it especially on overseeing content on the event materials and designs! 

I also had 2-3 meetups with long-lost friends! With high school classmates, elementary/secondary school classmates, and friends of friends.... it was interesting to see different people from different points of my life and see their progress and stuff. It’s better than spending time with the same circle of people all the time! 

I also lowkey started to accept 2 freelance consultant work?! I’m so proud of myself when I decided to call back to my older cousin and accepted the work she’s been asking from me for the past 1-2 years?! I haven’t started anything yet but I’m proud of myself to do it. Also another small design work from another friend!

Most of all, I’m proud of myself to start back the Tik Tok videos! There was a kid mocking me about my videos, but I stay unbothered. I have posted 11 videos so far. The followers count was a bit lower than I expected, but I’m just so proud to start doing it. It was a starting point! It wasn’t perfect and I don’t want to wait for perfection! 

YSEALI Small Grant competition, my team was also selected! I kind of see it coming already anyway. It was a matter of time! I really have the first quarter of 2023 fully occupied now. 

The next and urgent thing is to prepare for NRD. We haven’t found suppliers yet!!! Then I have to prepare for the IELTS test, and Australia Awards Scholarship & implement the small grant fund. 

Don’t know what to say about this month really! I really went through the highest high and the lowest low. It’s easy to just focus on the end goal and forget about the small progress. Turn back there were so many beautiful small steps taken. I just hope to keep, sustain and expand this energy throughout the year! Thank you, next!

Interterm 2023 Courses

Per usual, I returned to campus for interterm (Smith’s J-Term) as early as possible! During interterm, Smith offers a number of one-to-two credit courses most of which are inter/extradepartmental. In past years I’ve taken courses on entrepreneurship and computer-aided drafting. I also took a 4-credit French course my sophomore year, but that was an unusual year in which interterm was extended from three to six weeks. While I’d typically take two one-credit classes, this year I just took one called introduction to design thinking (IDP 116). Over the course of 5-days, the central question we sought to solve was “How might we support a closet-cleaning experience that finds new life for old clothes?.” We started out by conducting user interviews from which we framed our design challenges and began brainstorming solutions. My team ultimately worked to design an app (and corresponding paper prototype) that helps people manage their clothes with a digital closet and an outfit-logging feature. 

Speaking of app design, much of my interterm thus far has been spent designing and developing a Flutter app for my Design Clinic (senior engineering capstone) project. Most recently, I’ve been working on sending data from the app to a Bluetooth module. Overall, it’s been lots of fun to finally be getting into this more technical work. As long-time readers of the blog will know, I do have some prior app development experience from both personal projects (my task management app Tascal) and an intern project. While we aren’t 100% required to work during interterm, Design Clinic is the main reason why I decided to only take one for-credit interterm class. In addition to project work, my team and I will be visiting our sponsoring company’s headquarters early next week (which conflicting with the other interterm course I was interested in). 

A key benefit of not taking another for-credit course is that it freed up my schedule to participate in a lead climbing clinic last week! This non-credit clinic was offered through the Smith Outdoor Adventure Program and taught us basics and key safety components of lead belaying, climbing strategy, clipping, and cleaning routes and anchors. Overall, it was a very fun and beneficial experience!

Oliver, who finished last last year, won 3 awards straight out the gate!

Facing Taurean - Oliver waaaay overachieved his projected stats with a new strategy going in. He went for the new IDP players early in the draft and it paid dividens immediately.

Oliver also got the biggest blowout in a win against Taurean.

Taurean had Drake London who got 0pts.

Oliver won his 3rd award (most of any owner in the premier week) for most efficient manager.

Delmar (who improved greatly last year and was in contention) got two awards himself. They weren't the good ones 😪

Delmar got underachieving and least efficient manager. Bummer.

Delmar lost, against last years championship Carla who won the award for least points in a victory. Not saying much on Delmars week 1 output.

Juan got the narrowest win over Matt 👀

If any consolation, Matt stacked his PF (in case for a tie for the playoff seeding) as he got the most points in a loss. His point total totaled over both Carla's and Delmars final box score - just not combined.

Noticed the Jets on Slicks bench. Ouch. That had to be crushing. 😮‍💨

Not to pour on Delmar (I promise 😁) but having Aiyuk score like that on his bench did him NO favors.

Oliver's TJ Watt IDP reach netted him 58 points‼️ Some Defenses don't even score that 😅

Speaking of defenses... Holy cow how it had to be a love/hate victory for the commish Lady Laura 😳 Her Giants were utterly destroyed in prime time against the Cowboys Defense ⭐️ who scored a glorious 90 points for her. She win but lost at the same damn time 🙄

Building on the commish woes (even in a win) she almost lost due to a surprise output of Allgeier on her bench.

Cousins surprised *sorta* so understandable for him to be one of the bench warmers. Luckily for Jermaine, Herbert did well enough (even tho less than Cousins) to still earn a win.
