Tips on Campervan Rental Needs in Japan
Are you an adventurous soul planning to explore the captivating landscapes and cultural marvels of Japan? If so, embarking on a campervan journey might just be the perfect way to experience this beautiful country up close and personal. Campervan rental in Japan offers the freedom to navigate scenic routes, hidden gems, and iconic landmarks at your own pace. To ensure a smooth and memorable road trip, here are some essential tips to consider when opting for campervan rental needs in Japan.
1. Early Planning and Booking
Securing your campervan rental well in advance is crucial, especially if you're planning to visit during peak travel seasons. Spring (cherry blossom season) and autumn (fall foliage season) are particularly busy times. Booking early not only guarantees you a wider selection of campervans but also helps you snag more competitive rental rates.
2. Choose the Right Campervan
Japan offers a variety of campervan options catering to different travel preferences. From compact camper vans to larger motorhomes, you'll find vehicles suitable for solo travelers, couples, families, and groups. Assess your needs and select a campervan that accommodates your group size comfortably and suits your budget.
3. Verify Driving License Requirements
Before hitting the road, ensure you possess a valid international driving permit (IDP) along with your home country's driving license. This permit is required by law for foreigners driving in Japan. Make sure to carry both documents with you at all times while driving.
4. Familiarize Yourself with Traffic Rules
Driving regulations and traffic rules may differ from what you're accustomed to. Study up on Japanese traffic rules and road signs to ensure a safe and smooth journey. For instance, in Japan, you drive on the left side of the road.
5. Plan Your Itinerary
Japan's diverse regions offer a plethora of attractions, from tranquil countryside scenes to bustling cityscapes. Draft a rough itinerary that highlights the places you want to visit, the routes you'll take, and the camping spots you'll stay at. Be flexible in case you come across unexpected gems along the way.
6. Camping Sites and Facilities
Research and identify the camping sites along your chosen route. While campervan-friendly sites are abundant in Japan, some may require reservations, especially during peak travel seasons. Look for sites that offer essential facilities such as clean toilets, showers, waste disposal, and water refilling stations.
7. Language Barrier
While English signage is common in urban areas, it's beneficial to learn a few basic Japanese phrases or carry a translation app. Communication might be a challenge in rural areas, so having some language tools can help you navigate and interact effectively.
8. Packing Essentials
Pack appropriately for your trip, considering the weather conditions and activities you plan to engage in. Don't forget essentials like bedding, cooking utensils, toiletries, clothing for different weather, and electronic adapters.
9. Fuel and Toll Costs
Japan's toll road system is efficient but can be expensive for long journeys. Budget for toll costs in your travel expenses. Additionally, fuel costs can vary, so research fuel stations along your route to ensure a smooth refueling process.
10. Respect Local Customs
Japanese culture places a strong emphasis on respect and etiquette. When camping in public areas, be sure to clean up after yourself and follow the rules set by the campsite. Dispose of trash responsibly and respect the quiet hours.
Embarking on a campervan adventure through Japan offers an unparalleled way to experience the country's natural beauty and cultural richness. With careful planning, choosing the right campervan, understanding driving regulations, and respecting local customs, your journey will be one of unforgettable exploration and discovery. Book your campervan rental early, prepare your route, and get ready to immerse yourself in the wonders of Japan from the comfort of your home on wheels. Whether it's the iconic cherry blossoms or the serene countryside, Japan's diverse landscapes await your discovery.

A motorhome, on the other hand, has an autonomous drive and combines the cab and living area on four wheels. These camper vehicles are more manoeuvrable and easier to navigate than the habitable trailers, especially when touring larger cities. (also works offline) on your phone. Here you will find all campsites in New Zealand on a map, including information about the facilities, costs and current reviews of guests. Officially you need an English translation for this. You should therefore have an international driver's license issued for your New Zealand motorhome holiday. Always have both your German cheap New Zealand motorhome and international driving licenses with you. A tour around Auckland on the North Island of New Zealand is basically possible all year round, after all, there is a subtropical climate here.

Upload a photo to Instagram. No problem. With a few exceptions, it is cheaper to book the vehicle early. 20% discount, the one-way fee and the ferry crossing for the vehicle free of charge for rentals from August to October.

"Trick and Tips : Nz camping"
Do you want to off road around New Zealand with me?
Well, it is very easy to travel around Nz. There are many long distance buses between towns. Even though it might have once or twice in a day but it is all over Nz. We can buy a bus passes for 6-12 months , hop on-off 15-30 times or buy a single trip as you wish. Some bus company frequently has a promotion 1 nzd ticket too. Damn cheap aye! Anyway, because of kiwi population density is very low, it affect to transportation in town which is very less. Plus some attractive places are so far and difficult to reach unless you want to hitch hike. For these reason, the best choice for backpackers is “Car rental”
Car rental is very popular in big cities. There are many companies and types of car that you can chooses. It is very easy and convenient to drive around Nz. We can use an international driver license or our oversea driver license in English. However, some car rental companies may require an international license or an accurate translation from NZ Transport Agency for non- English speaking countries (meanwhile I can use my oversea driver license a year here without problem… weird)
Moreover, There are Information centers (I-site) where provide an information and a booking service for activities, attractions, accommodation and transport surrounding Nz…. The thing I like particularly about Nz is there is accessible for disability people in attractive places… See….how easy to travel here. Furthermore, most of activities in Nz are Natural sightseeing or trekking hence, If we know tips for traveling in Nz , you can save a lot of money in your pocket…
Tumblr media
“Transportation” There are many backpackers bought a car no matter they will stay here short term or long term.(There are many range of price) Some backpackers bought small cars and prefer to stay in tents or hostels. Some backpackers transform a car to be a motor-home and sleep inside. What’s about me? I am crazy in 4WD which have big wheels for adventure. I think it is not a good idea, if I transform my car to be a bedroom and drive to work every day.... Conversely… if I have a car which I can sleep inside, it will be perfect for camping though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thus, every time I had traveled, I set plastic containers which are similar height with my back seat behind. I used containers and fold seats as a base and then put an air mattress on top … Yay finally, I got a temporary bed for camping and I can use plastic containers for keeping my camping gear, cloths and other stuffs as well. This temporary bed is not only can set up and use anytime I want but my car also have space and not too heavy for off-road. It is perfect for solo traveler like me!! However, I was traveling and shared this temporary bed with a man who is bigger than me. We were squeezed on this, It were fine! Even this air mattress want to scream and blow up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once I traveled with a travel mate by his car. He has a truly small car. He didn’t even take off back seats, and on the other hand, he folded back seats and put base mattress with foam mattress on it. Although it look like a rabbit hole and make me feel like I slept in a coffin but we can sleep!!
I think type of car and how people transform own car, it define their personality. My Japanese friend took off all back seats and left only front seats. She puts a mattress for 1 person on the floor and places a reading table at side. She decorate a car with lights, cute curtain and also plant veggies inside. She made a lot of handmade stuffs in the car. If she puts a Tatami mat, I will think I’m in japan lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of my friends took off back seat and build a base mattress from woods and put a foam mattress on it. They keep personal stuffs and camping gear under a base mattress. All space were used effectively . Someone make a small wardrobe, place a toilet inside and build up a kitchen and sink backside a car. A big van might put more function as a folding bed which can adjust to be a table and seat…. So, cool
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transforming car to be a motor-home is general thing in Nz because We love to sleep in a car lol. Well, I think it is really cool idea and make me want to transform a car like this in my country but Thailand is too hot+humid and there is no campsite provide like here.
As I said before, If you have a car, especially a car with Self-contained sticker then it will be easier for your traveling because you can park a car any free campsite around Nz! By the way, How can we know where can we park overnight and sleep? And How can we shower and eating? … well well.. I will tell you next time..
Tumblr media
Ps. Self-contained is the certification used to show that a camper-van can contain water waste for up to 3 days. This includes water in the form of water supply, grey water (sink and shower water), and septic waste. More detail>> http://www.backpackerguide.nz/self-contained-campervans-ne…/

The Japanese financial regulator has approved one more cryptocurrency exchange, making it the 16th exchange to be licensed. As competition intensifies, some local exchanges are branching abroad in search for more volume and liquidity. Meanwhile, more merchants are embracing bitcoin.

Another Bitcoin Exchange Approved
Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) has licensed one more cryptocurrency exchange. The Tokyo-based Bitocean Corporation is now the 16th company to gain approval by the agency to operate a crypto exchange. According to the FSA’s website, bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency listed to trade on this exchange.
Bitocean was founded in 2013 in China and Japan, its website states. The company is developing two-way bitcoin ATMs (BTMs) as well as a bitcoin trading platform. “We are working on setting up a new bitcoin trading platform in Tokyo while at the same time we are contributing to help with Mt Gox’s liquidation/rehabilitation process,” its website states.
This is the third round of approvals by the FSA. The first round was in September when 11 exchanges were approved. The second time was early this month when the agency approved 4 more exchanges, as news.Bitcoin.com reported. Meanwhile, Japan’s second-largest bitcoin exchange Coincheck has not yet been approved; Coincheck’s application is still under review by the agency.
Local Exchanges Expanding Abroad
As new exchanges come onboard, established trading platforms that were already approved by the FSA have been strategically expanding overseas. Nikkei recently reported:
Japanese trading platforms are expanding overseas in an effort to grow trading volume and enhance liquidity. Now that Japan has some 20 digital currency exchanges, there’s not enough business to go around, and investors are often having to wait to complete transactions involving infrequently traded currencies. These currencies also tend to fluctuate wildly when a big order is placed.
The country’s largest bitcoin exchange Bitflyer expanded into the US at the end of November and is planning to open an exchange in Europe. Other trading platform operators expanding overseas includes Quoine, which is launching in the Philippines next year. Bitpoint expanded into South Korea in November and is preparing to open an exchange in Taiwan in January. Bitbank is also planning to enter other Asian and Africa markets.
More Merchants Embracing Bitcoin
As the number of exchanges grows, so does the number of merchants accepting bitcoin payments. News.Bitcoin.com recently reported on a leading used car automotive group and dealerships embracing the cryptocurrency.
Recently, a variety of smaller merchants also started accepting bitcoin. One example is housing and facility construction specialist Hiroden Co. Ltd which started accepting the digital currency on a trial basis last month, with a limit of 1 million yen including tax. The company is located in Hirosaki City, a small town in the rural Aomori prefecture.
Last week a Tokyo-based stress care specialist called Stylefulness also began accepting bitcoin payments.
Earlier this week the Tokyo Campervan Rental Center Group, also known as Tokyo CRC, started accepting bitcoin at its five locations. Moreover, the group is offering a 20% discount on rental fees between January 4 to March 31 of next year for customers paying with the bitcoin.
