Toxic Radioapple fic idea

We all know how Lucifer feels about sinners and I don't think it's played with enough in radioapple fics so I was thinking...

Lucifer and Alastor are officially together everyone knows about them but Lucifer still hasn't gotten over his prejudice. He kind of puts Alastor on a pedestal, saying that he's better than other sinners, but still treating him like he is very much below him.

The other sinners in the hotel notice this and they even try to talk to Alastor about it because Lucifer barely even acknowledges them but Alastor doesn't listen.

Alastor isn't stupid he knows how Lucifer feels about sinners but he says he doesn't think of Alastor like that so isn't that a good thing?

Alastor slowly starts to spiral. He doesn't even realize that he starts to change to fit Lucifer's image of what he should be and when he finally does he blows up.

Alastor asks Lucifer why he even loves him in the first place. Lucifer can't answer.

kinda happy to read other people's posts about Abe's traumas because i was overthinking about it for a long time and thought that I'm just insane and it's not really that deep

even though writers try to make fun of him (thanks to haters 🙄) it stops being funny after you think about everything that happened to him

like yeah, he is very dumb and made mistakes in the first season, but he didn't deserve to go through a literal hell in later seasons for this 😭 i just know writers were trying to punish him so hard just to make his haters happy

got sa'd twice (i count mary too because YEAH in addition she wanted to KILL HIM after that, that's crazy), was losing his friends (glad most of them were back, but still...), got paired with a freak that blackmailed him and used, got cancelled, etc. not even talking about all the minor situations he went through like taking care of joan for the whole episode only for her to stop being friends with him in the end. And then he was forced to apologize. Ugh. Still hurts.

And they made his personality worse, geez. So you could have a reason to still hate him. Like, "look he's an asshole, he deserved all of that" NO‼️‼️‼️ HE IS NOT PERFECT BUT TOTALLY NOT A DOUCHEBAG. also all this virgin shit. disgustingggg...

Holy cow, your art is incredible! Can I ask how you choose and blend your colors? I'm trying to teach myself how to paint and getting my pieces to look as beautiful as yours someday would be my absolute dream.

The way I blend my colors is by just utilizing pen pressure opacity on my brushes (I just use basic hard round/square/flat)! I don't really use a blender tool or anything

As for how I choose my colors, it depends a lot on the piece and what sort of vibe I want to give. I just try to be aware of values when picking colors, tbh you can kinda go crazy with colors as long as the painting is still readable in grayscale.

I just make really bold choices with colors and very often convert my paintings into grayscale as I go in order to check the values and make sure everything still reads fine despite the color choices

I have a lot of mischaracterisations that I feel *do* actually matter (most probably don't but I am Normal about Roy Harper and am Completely Fine with misunderstandings of his character), but one thing that I know for a fact doesn't matter that much but still drives me insane is less of a mischaracterisation and more of a misconception, which is the idea that Roy joined the Titans at the same time as the rest of the Fab Five. And I kinda hate it because yeah, it's not THAT big of a deal, but also Roy being the last of the original Titans is so important to me because Roy was the second of the Fab Five to be created just after Dick, he was a teen sidekick at the same time the Teen Titans were founded, and yet he was just a recurring guest until issue 19 and that is SO important to me because a character who's massively characterised by his fears of being unwanted being the last of the time's sidekicks to be welcomed into the team of sidekicks? Yeah. It's also pretty key for his relationship with Garth, they didn't actually spend all that much time together until they were adults because Garth wasn't there much after Roy joined, and that absolutely has a part to play in how their relationship developed as adults; they didn't spend all that much time together, and they didn't get to know and understand one another in a way that might have resolved their issues far sooner if they had both been around from the beginning. But also yeah it's definitely most important for the feeling of inadequacy because he was quite literally the last picked for the original Titans.

Another thing that I do see a lot is... well, again, it's not exactly a mischaracterisation but more of an overcharacterisation, I guess, is oversexualisation. Don't get me wrong, Roy's absolutely a sexual person, and there's nothing wrong with that! But at the same time I feel like there's a bit of a tendency to prioritise Roy's sexual attraction over his romantic attraction or platonic attraction to his partners, which I don't think is the case. Like he absolutely values the romantic and platonic over sexual. Particularly with Jade and Donna, he's sexually attracted to them sure but he also loves them romantically with his whole heart, he's absolutely the kind of guy who'll love someone once and then for the rest of his life which is definitely most obvious with Jade and Donna. And even with his non-romantic sexual relationships, like his FWB relationship with Grace Choi it definitely felt like there was a greater emphasis on the "friends" than the "benefits". I dunno, obviously there's absolutely nothing wrong with valuing sexual attraction over romantic and/or platonic but I don't think that fits Roy.

Anyway I'm rambling now and I'm not sure I've explained my thoughts correctly but yeah, that's what I think :)

Do you have any art tips for beginner artists?

hi! i'll do my best to list the most useful ones for me from the top of my head! but if you're asking about something specific, lmk too!

always use references! this is 100% the fastest way to improve quickly! and don't forget if you're posting artworks using references, to always ask for permission if needed and to credit the reference! here's a very good post with links to various art tutorials and references :) try to do things out of your comfort zone!

i remember my sister drilling this into my head as a kid lmao: if you're going to draw people, make it a habit to draw the whole body, not just a face or bust. this way you can improve drawing the face and body at the same rate, rather than perfect the face and have like. a shoddy body HAHAHA (<- speaking from experience - my sister warned me but i still did not listen) here's an example from when i was 12 lol i went so hard on the eyes but my anatomy wasn't great so the drawing looks kind of goofy

if i'm being honest nothing has really changed even now HAHAHA you can still tell i spend too much time on the faces and neglect my anatomy studies a lot 🥲

3. don't worry too much about building a signature art style if you're a beginner! experiment and imitate art styles that you like, and it'll eventually develop into something you're comfortable with

4. speaking of art styles, Naoki Saito-sensei does very in-depth art videos for people looking to develop and improve their art, and he covers a variety of different topics! the link i provided is for his new YouTube account, since his first one was unrightfully terminated :( since it's new, there aren't a lot of videos up yet but he'll be re-uploading all his old ones soon

5. this video by tppo is also a useful tutorial/explanation for style breakdowns, using Mika Pikazo-sensei's artworks! also another good reference for building art and colouring styles

6. unless you're going for a specific art style, try not to use black colours for shading. Instead, try using a darker version of your base colour with the hue slightly adjusted. it's a little difficult to explain so i made a tiny diagram underneath:

it makes the colours pop a lot! Kurahana Chinatsu-sensei and Akiakane-sensei are really good at doing this 😭💖 that can also apply to lineart! but again, only if you're going for this kind of colourful art style :') do what feels right to you!

7. lastly try to enjoy drawing! if you do what you enjoy, learning and improving will come so much easier to you :) i can understand the urgency to improve (it's like my default state of mind 🥲) but if you keep focusing on that, drawing will eventually just start to overwhelm and frustrate you. try to combat it by doing something self-indulgent! i like to draw my ocs whenever i start getting burnt out :')

8. actually i lied this is the last one!! never give up!! it's so easy to feel bad or frustrated about your art no matter where you are in your art journey, so what i like to do to try and fight that is to look at my old art and compare the improvements! here's one of the earliest oc drawings i could find from my childhood vs my most recent oc drawing :pensive:
